- 0:43Laura: Hello and welcome to For The Love of Nature, a podcast where we tell you everything you need to know about nature and probably more than you wanted to know.
- 0:50Laura: I'm Laura.
- 0:50Laura: And I'm
- 0:51Katy: Katie.
- 0:51Katy: And today we are going to be doing an a different, I guess, a different type of.
- 0:59Katy: Episode than what, what we've ever done.
- 1:01Katy: Really?
- 1:01Katy: Kind of, yeah.
- 1:02Katy: Yeah.
- 1:02Katy: It's like yes and no, but in a different way.
- 1:05Katy: Yes.
- 1:05Katy: So we're gonna be doing, could you be serious?
- 1:07Katy: Is what it's gonna be called.
- 1:08Katy: And we are gonna tell quite possibly the dumbest jokes you have ever heard back and forth.
- 1:15Katy: Does all related to nature?
- 1:17Katy: All related to nature, of course.
- 1:19Katy: To see if we can make each other laugh.
- 1:22Katy: And I told Laura right before we started recording, when I wrote these down and sent'em to Taylor, our interim manager, I thought that some of these were funny.
- 1:31Katy: And then I was reading over them earlier today and I'm like, I don't remember which ones I thought were funny because none of these are like, some of'em are, they're just dumb.
- 1:39Katy: Like, just so dumb.
- 1:40Katy: And that's probably why I was laughing.
- 1:42Katy: I lot of dumb
- 1:42Laura: things, but we're gonna try not to laugh.
- 1:44Laura: So it's like a try not to laugh.
- 1:45Laura: Challenge, yeah.
- 1:46Laura: As much as we can, I think.
- 1:48Laura: And, uh, I don't know.
- 1:50Laura: We'll see how many we get through.
- 1:52Katy: The problem is, is I can block crap out.
- 1:54Katy: That's, that's the problem.
- 1:55Katy: I can hands down when this one.
- 1:58Katy: Just cuz I can box that crap away.
- 2:01Katy: Is that, is that healthy?
- 2:02Katy: No, but can I do it?
- 2:04Katy: Yes.
- 2:05Laura: Maybe I'll just shock you.
- 2:07Laura: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:08Laura: Or to my face and then you'll
- 2:10Katy: be I was gonna say yeah.
- 2:11Katy: If anything, if anything that's, that's what I'll do.
- 2:13Katy: It just you and you crack up it yourself.
- 2:15Katy: We'll, make me laugh.
- 2:15Katy: Laugh.
- 2:16Katy: That's, I'm
- 2:16Laura: sure I'm gonna be cracking up of my own jokes.
- 2:18Laura: Yeah.
- 2:19Laura: And that won't count.
- 2:20Laura: It's gotta be, you have to laugh at the other if Yes.
- 2:22Laura: Or you laugh or not to the other persons.
- 2:23Laura: Yeah.
- 2:24Laura: So I kind of thought this would be a way that.
- 2:25Laura: Shows, you know, you don't have to take nature seriously as we
- 2:29Katy: never do.
- 2:30Katy: I was gonna say, as we never do.
- 2:34Katy: All right.
- 2:34Katy: Do you wanna start?
- 2:36Laura: Okay, sure.
- 2:37Laura: What happened when Allie Algae and Freddie Fungus started dating, they took a liking to each other.
- 2:49Laura: So dumb, but I, who doesn't like a good liking joke?
- 2:53Laura: All right.
- 2:54Laura: Uh, I really
- 2:55Katy: thought it, that was it.
- 2:57Katy: I thought it was gonna be a fun guy one.
- 2:59Katy: That's why I was thinking about it for a second.
- 3:00Katy: I was like, is it gonna be a fun, a fun guy?
- 3:02Katy: I would like, didn't be a fun guy.
- 3:04Katy: Joke.
- 3:04Katy: Okay.
- 3:04Katy: This is one of my leave.
- 3:05Katy: It is.
- 3:05Katy: That's what I was waiting for.
- 3:07Katy: Okay.
- 3:07Katy: Ready?
- 3:09Katy: Yeah.
- 3:10Katy: What did the mother tree say to the baby tree during their soccer game?
- 3:16Katy: I don't know.
- 3:16Katy: I'm rooting
- 3:17Laura: for you.
- 3:19Laura: Oh my gosh, the puns are so off.
- 3:22Laura: Right, right.
- 3:25Laura: Okay, Fred, how can you tell an American crow from a fish crow, American
- 3:32Katy: crow from a fish
- 3:32Laura: crow?
- 3:33Laura: This is the nerdiest joke.
- 3:36Laura: I don't know.
- 3:37Laura: You just ask it, say, are you an American crow?
- 3:40Laura: And if it says, nuh nuh, it isn't.
- 3:43Laura: It's a fish crow.
- 3:49Laura: Which for any of you listeners out there who are like, what?
- 3:51Laura: It's because that's the call of.
- 3:53Laura: That's the call.
- 3:53Katy: Yeah.
- 3:54Katy: That's the call of Fish Crow.
- 3:55Katy: Nerd joke Nerds.
- 3:57Katy: My son has, uh, or I have that my son has kidnapped from me.
- 4:02Katy: Remember that big bird sound bible I got in college?
- 4:05Katy: I still have that.
- 4:07Katy: I, yeah, cuz we, it was one of those amazing deals at Barnes and Nobles when the front, you're going outta business.
- 4:12Katy: Yeah.
- 4:12Katy: And it's just like all these random things, it's like, 20.
- 4:16Katy: It was like$25 originally.
- 4:17Katy: I don't know, like close to a hundred.
- 4:19Katy: Yeah.
- 4:19Katy: You flip through this huge book, type in the number for the call and it does the call and it's amazing.
- 4:25Katy: And Luke, my son, sits there and he goes through those all day.
- 4:28Katy: I, I, my bird calls have gotten much better just cuz of him sitting there, going through it, so.
- 4:33Katy: All righty.
- 4:33Katy: Another bird joke then.
- 4:36Katy: Why do tufted tit houses fly south for the winter?
- 4:42Katy: Because it's too far to walk.
- 4:44Katy: Oh,
- 4:47Laura: I was immediately something thinking, something dirty.
- 4:49Laura: I guess we should also do, we have to make a like a disclaimer for this.
- 4:54Laura: Do you have any that are like inappropriate for baby ears?
- 4:57Laura: One of mine, one of mine, one of mine too, but I'll say it near
- 5:00Katy: the end.
- 5:01Katy: Okay.
- 5:01Katy: My mine is also towards the end.
- 5:03Katy: Okay.
- 5:05Laura: All right.
- 5:05Laura: This is just a statement joke.
- 5:07Laura: This is one of those, it's not a question.
- 5:09Laura: Okay.
- 5:09Laura: Okay.
- 5:10Laura: A dung beetle walks into a bar and asks, is this stool taken?
- 5:17Katy: That was a good one.
- 5:18Katy: I'll say that is a good one.
- 5:19Katy: That was a good one.
- 5:21Katy: That was a good one.
- 5:23Katy: All right.
- 5:24Katy: What did the grape say when it got stepped on?
- 5:28Katy: Uh, I don't know.
- 5:30Katy: Nothing.
- 5:31Katy: It just let out a little wine.
- 5:33Katy: Huh.
- 5:34Laura: That's a pretty good one.
- 5:36Laura: That one's cute.
- 5:38Laura: That one that except it's got murdered.
- 5:43Katy: Yeah.
- 5:43Katy: What did the say when it was murder and nothing.

- 6:01Laura: How old are these bones?
- 6:03Laura: The guard replies, they're 73 million of four years and six months old.
- 6:07Laura: That's a rather exact number, says the tourist.
- 6:10Laura: How do you know their age so precisely?
- 6:12Laura: Well, I answers the guard.
- 6:13Laura: The dinosaur bones were 73 million years when I started working here, and that was four and a half years ago.
- 6:19Katy: I've heard that.
- 6:19Katy: I've heard that one.
- 6:20Katy: Like a variety of different like years and how long they have.
- 6:24Katy: Yeah.
- 6:25Katy: Yeah.

- 6:45Laura: He won first Beaver.
- 6:48Laura: Sir, the river is running a full capacity with no obstruction.
- 6:52Laura: Second fever.
- 6:53Laura: Damn it.
- 6:58Katy: I was gonna say, if anything, your reaction My, my favorite, so I don't know if I've told this before.
- 7:03Katy: My son, he does kind of pick up, I don't swear a lot around him, but occasionally.
- 7:10Katy: It's in context.
- 7:11Katy: Does, and Luke was like really, really little and stepped out the back door to call the dogs in.
- 7:17Katy: And Toby, he's like to, and he's like, tiny, this is like before the dogs even thought of him as a human.
- 7:22Katy: And Luke's like Toby.
- 7:23Katy: Toby.
- 7:24Katy: Now mind you, Toby's, you know, one brain cell can't hear.
- 7:27Katy: He's gonna be 14 here coming up just a few years ago.
- 7:30Katy: And Toby didn't listen, and Luke just turned around and just goes, damn it, Toby.
- 7:34Katy: Like that.
- 7:35Katy: Like right.
- 7:35Katy: And perfect.
- 7:36Katy: I was like, oh yeah, that's probably from me.
- 7:39Katy: So, all righty.
- 7:41Katy: Ready?
- 7:42Katy: Yeah.
- 7:42Katy: What do you call a bear with no teeth and no ears?
- 7:47Katy: Sad.
- 7:48Katy: Anything you like?
- 7:49Katy: I can't hear you.
- 7:53Laura: That's a pretty good one too.
- 7:55Katy: So mean though.
- 7:56Katy: I'm also like, cuz I did the same thing.
- 7:58Katy: Aww.
- 8:00Katy: No teeth, no ears.
- 8:04Katy: I felt so bad for it.
- 8:05Katy: Speaking of bears, did you hear that Bear 3 99 or whatever that is, had another baby now thought she was done having that famous grizzly bear that they thought that she was done?

- 9:11Laura: It's well-known fact that bears find unseasoned, hikers, bland and tasteless.
- 9:15Katy: That's a good one.
- 9:16Katy: That's the same way.

- 11:27Katy: Believable cuz they did one recently.
- 11:29Katy: That you can, they're having fast pass now for the bathrooms and they went on like for$500 or whatever.
- 11:37Katy: It was like you can have a fast pass and then you have special bathrooms.
- 11:40Katy: It's like so ridiculous and it's believable.
- 11:42Katy: I feel like we could pull that off with nature.
- 11:44Katy: Oh yeah.
- 11:44Katy: Things and so many people would be like, what?
- 11:46Katy: Oh, and uh, horrible.
- 11:49Katy: That's all.
- 11:49Katy: You just have to say it confidently.
- 11:50Katy: Yeah, as long as I can definitely say it confidently and people will believe.
- 11:55Katy: What did the limestone say to the geologist?
- 11:59Katy: Um, don't take me for granted wolf.
- 12:04Laura: Um, what did the tree say to the bush when it asked it out on a date?
- 12:11Laura: I don't know.
- 12:13Laura: I don't want no shrub.
- 12:14Laura: Shrub is a guy that can't get no love from me.
- 12:17Katy: I thought it was gonna be a different shrub joke or a bush joke joke.
- 12:21Katy: Like a different bush joke.
- 12:23Laura: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:23Laura: No, no.
- 12:24Laura: Just a nineties.
- 12:24Katy: Just a nineties joke.
- 12:26Katy: Just a nineties joke.
- 12:27Katy: It's fine.
- 12:29Katy: How do you properly identify a dogwood tree?
- 12:32Katy: Ugh.
- 12:33Katy: I know this one, but it's bites.
- 12:35Katy: Lion bark, right?
- 12:39Katy: Okay.
- 12:39Katy: Okay.
- 12:39Katy: Here's a good
- 12:40Laura: one.
- 12:40Laura: In my opinion.
- 12:41Laura: In my opinion, this is a long one.
- 12:44Laura: A man boards a plane and is seated next to an air marshal and is sniffing dog.
- 12:48Laura: Soon the plane takes off and the Marshall says, sniffer search the dog walks along the aisle and stops next to a woman.
- 12:54Laura: He then returns to a seat and puts one Paul on the Marshall's arm.
- 12:57Laura: Good boy says the Marshall.
- 12:59Laura: What happened?
- 12:59Laura: Ask the man.
- 13:00Laura: The woman is in possession of marijuana.
- 13:02Laura: We'll arrest her when we land.
- 13:04Laura: Once again, sniffer searches the aisles.
- 13:06Laura: He stops beside a man then returns to his seat and places two paws on the Marshall's arm.
- 13:10Laura: That man is carrying cocaine.
- 13:12Laura: The Marshall explains the dog, walks up the aisle again, then races back, jumps into his seat, and poops all over it.
- 13:18Laura: What's going on?
- 13:19Laura: Demand the demands.
- 13:20Laura: The man, the Marshall, nervously replies, he just found a bomb.
- 13:25Katy: That's a good one.
- 13:27Katy: Could you, could you imagine though, like I'm being
- 13:31Laura: told
- 13:31Katy: that
- 13:32Laura: what,
- 13:33Katy: uh, I, I will say, where was I flying out of Charlotte and.
- 13:38Katy: As you're going through tsa, they line people up in a single file line and you just go, you just walk and they're like, okay, go.
- 13:44Katy: Okay, go.
- 13:45Katy: And you walk, run one right after the other and they have like a, a dog and it's going around you.
- 13:50Katy: When I tell you the excitement of people in that line, like it was an insanely long line and you didn't hear a single person complain cuz everybody's like crazy that line.
- 13:59Katy: Look at the dog.
- 14:00Katy: Look at the dog.
- 14:01Katy: And there was one dog that was working and then there were two on break that were like hanging out nearby.
- 14:06Katy: So of course like, yeah, not a single person complained.
- 14:08Katy: So anybody out there who works for T S a look at Charlotte because nobody was complaining of a long, stupid line cuz everybody was just ex good pets at the end of it.
- 14:17Katy: Yeah, everybody was excited to see the dog.
- 14:19Katy: All right.
- 14:20Katy: Can you tell me what color the wind is?
- 14:23Katy: Uh, all blue.
- 14:25Katy: The colors blue.
- 14:26Katy: Pocahontas
- 14:27Laura: blue.
- 14:29Laura: Oh.
- 14:32Laura: Um, okay.
- 14:33Laura: Then here's my questionably tasteful one.
- 14:37Laura: Okay.
- 14:38Katy: Mines was a squirrel.
- 14:39Katy: Nuts.
- 14:40Katy: So, okay.
- 14:42Katy: A
- 14:42Laura: naturalist noted on a walk that St.
- 14:45Laura: John's Wart is believed to be useful for mood, including anxiety and depression.
- 14:49Laura: An older woman who kept asking questions, asked another one saying, there seems to be a lot here.
- 14:54Laura: Don't the deer eat it?
- 14:56Laura: And the naturalist said, well, if they did, they might jump in front of less cars.
- 15:03Katy: I mean, that's horrible.
- 15:08Laura: That's so horrible.
- 15:09Laura: So horrible,
- 15:10Katy: so horrible.
- 15:12Katy: How can you get down from a tree?
- 15:16Katy: Oh, wait, this is something about you can't, right?
- 15:18Katy: Yeah, you can't.
- 15:19Katy: Down the light comes from ducks and geese.
- 15:21Katy: Oh,
- 15:22Laura: that's a clever one.
- 15:23Laura: Yeah.
- 15:23Laura: I like that one.
- 15:24Katy: All right, I have one more then.
- 15:25Katy: And this is a, this is a statement one, not a question.
- 15:29Katy: The swordfish has no natural predators to fear, except for the pen fish.
- 15:33Katy: That one is mightier.
- 15:35Laura: That's so dumb.
- 15:40Laura: Well, folks, just in case you needed a little chuckle to
- 15:45Katy: Well, can I, can I just tell my, my always go-to joke.
- 15:49Katy: It's not date related.
- 15:51Katy: So, um, I don't know if I talked about this on the podcast before, but whenever I typically go under anesthesia, I always tell jokes.
- 15:59Katy: That is apparently what I do.
- 16:02Katy: Constantly and consistently, even when I try really hard not to, I do.
- 16:06Katy: Including, that's what she said, jokes, which is the best types of jokes.
- 16:10Katy: Yeah.
- 16:10Katy: I had a tumor removed outta my mouth and the, the surgeon, whatever they're called, said, was in there and she.
- 16:19Katy: The tech was like, oh, is that like all the tumor?
- 16:22Katy: And the doctor was like, yeah, it was a lot bigger whenever once I got in there and through all of the things pulling my mouth open, I was like, that's what she said.
- 16:30Katy: But the one that I always consistently tell when I'm going under, I don't know why, but it's so dumb cuz I heard it once and I thought it was so funny the first time I heard it.
- 16:40Katy: Where does the general keep his armies?
- 16:42Katy: Oh yeah.
- 16:43Katy: In his sleeves.
- 16:44Katy: I laughed so hard the first time I heard that.
- 16:47Katy: And that is always my favorite go-to whenever I'm going in under anesthesia.
- 16:52Katy: But I normally crack.
- 16:53Katy: I just say the, and I don't even know where I get'em because if you, if you came up to me on any random day and it was like, tell me a good joke, besides the general Army sleepies one, I wouldn't be able to, I wouldn't be able to come up with one, have nothing.
- 17:04Katy: Yeah, I have nothing.
- 17:05Katy: But whenever I'm go.
- 17:07Katy: Going under anesthesia.
- 17:08Katy: Apparently just some extra part of my brain opens up to all of these jokes and I mean, man, thankfully, like you know, typically whenever you're going under for surgery, you've already met with the doctor at least once or twice, thank God.
- 17:23Katy: Or else these people would be like, who lunatic is.
- 17:26Katy: Yeah.
- 17:26Katy: Who is this insane lady?
- 17:28Katy: If
- 17:28Laura: somebody asked me for a joke, my go-to is actually one that I learned from a kid in camp at Little Rock.
- 17:34Laura: And it was the girl was like, what do you call three humped camel?
- 17:38Laura: And I was like, I don't know.
- 17:40Laura: And she was like, pregnant.
- 17:43Laura: I laughed so hard.
- 17:46Laura: And then my other one, which is not even a real joke, but that's the best thing, is having kids tell jokes.
- 17:51Laura: Oh my gosh.
- 17:51Laura: Yeah.
- 17:52Laura: So I was telling jokes to some like five year olds, and this one little boy just did not get the concept of a joke, like at all.
- 17:58Laura: And he is cracking himself up and he's so cute and he is making me laugh and laugh because he's just laughing.
- 18:04Laura: So hard, and at one point he's like morphing real jokes into just
- 18:09Katy: like he's continuing it.
- 18:10Katy: Yeah.
- 18:10Katy: Luke on, on and on.
- 18:11Katy: Luke does that too because, because he finds one thing that's funny.
- 18:14Katy: So he'll just, yes, keep going.
- 18:16Katy: And then he just morph into, into
- 18:17Laura: things.
- 18:17Laura: So then finally I was like, why?
- 18:20Laura: And he said it exactly like this.
- 18:21Laura: Everybody like, guaranteed this is what he sounded like.
- 18:25Laura: And he went, why did the duck build a nature center?
- 18:32Laura: And I was like, why?
- 18:34Laura: And he goes, because he loved nature.
- 18:38Laura: And then he,
- 18:40Katy: and
- 18:42Laura: I'm dying.
- 18:46Katy: Oh gosh.
- 18:47Katy: Oh, kids, kids jokes are the best.
- 18:49Katy: Luke, Luke, I think one of the funnier ones that he said is he came, he stuck in the bed and it was like, I don't know, five o'clock in the morning.
- 18:56Katy: I knew he was there, but I was still half asleep, rolled over.
- 18:59Katy: I open up my eyes and he's just staring at me, you know, every parent's nightmare just staring at me and he just goes, uh, what, what is it?
- 19:09Katy: What did the cat, what did the cat call?
- 19:12Katy: Picture it painted of itself.
- 19:14Katy: And I'm like out of it.
- 19:15Katy: And I was like, what?
- 19:16Katy: And he goes, he goes, A portrait like that.
- 19:19Katy: And I laughed so hard.
- 19:22Katy: It was so, and I still have the video cuz immediately I like, reach over, grab my phone.
- 19:26Katy: I'm like, Luke, can you say that one more time?
- 19:27Katy: And he's, you can even tell even like he's sleepy.
- 19:30Katy: But he, he just had, he apparently he had a the night joke.
- 19:33Katy: Yeah.
- 19:34Katy: He had to come in and tell me that joke at 5:00 AM Yeah.
- 19:37Katy: Good grief.
- 19:39Katy: All right, everybody.
- 19:40Katy: Well, that wraps up this episode.
- 19:42Katy: Yeah, I mean,
- 19:42Laura: challenge wise, I guess Katie probably
- 19:44Katy: won.
- 19:44Katy: I don't listen.
- 19:45Katy: I told you I can box that crap away, but I, I cracked you once or twice.
- 19:49Katy: Yeah, you did.
- 19:50Katy: I can, I can box it away though.
- 19:51Katy: That's, that's just not fair to you.
- 19:54Laura: Katie has no
- 19:55Katy: emotions.
- 19:56Katy: I have no emotions.
- 19:56Katy: I can definitely box it away at again.
- 20:00Katy: Healthy.
- 20:01Katy: No useful.
