- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Spanish with Fexingo? Luna: Absolutely, Lucas. I love our park adventures. What are we learning today? Lucas: Well, we've bought ice cream before, but now let's learn how to buy a snack at the park. You know, something simple like a sandwich or a drink. Luna: Oh, that's useful. I'm always hungry at the park. Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Spanish, I want to mention something quick. A handful of listeners chip in monthly through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo, and that's literally what funds making this many episodes. Luna: Yeah, it keeps the show ad-free and helps us keep teaching. We're really grateful. Lucas: So today's phrases are perfect for when you're at a park stall. First up: '¿Cuánto cuesta?' That means 'How much does it cost?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? How much does it cost? Lucas: Yes. Try saying it a bit slower: ¿Cuán-to cues-ta? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you want to buy a snack, you can say 'Quiero un bocadillo.' That means 'I want a sandwich.' Luna: Quiero un bocadillo. I want a sandwich. But what if I want a drink instead? Lucas: Then you can say 'Quiero una bebida.' But let's stick with 'bocadillo' for now. Say it with me: Quiero un bocadillo. Luna: Quiero un bocadillo. Lucas: Great. Now, when you hand over the money, the vendor might say 'Aquí tienes.' That means 'Here you go.' Luna: Aquí tienes. Here you go. And of course, we say 'Gracias' afterwards. Lucas: Exactly. So a whole exchange could be: You ask '¿Cuánto cuesta?' They say a price. You say 'Quiero un bocadillo.' They give it and say 'Aquí tienes.' You say 'Gracias.' Luna: Let me try a full scene. So I walk up to the stall and say '¿Cuánto cuesta?' Lucas: The vendor says 'Dos euros.' Luna: Then I say 'Quiero un bocadillo.' I hand over two euros. Lucas: The vendor says 'Aquí tienes.' Luna: And I say 'Gracias.' That felt good. Lucas: You nailed it. Now let's repeat all four phrases one more time: '¿Cuánto cuesta?', 'Quiero un bocadillo.', 'Aquí tienes.', 'Gracias.' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Quiero un bocadillo. Aquí tienes. Gracias. Lucas: Awesome. Remember, you can use '¿Cuánto cuesta?' for anything, not just snacks. And 'Quiero' is super useful for ordering. Luna: Perfect. I'm going to practice these at the park this weekend. Thanks, Lucas! Lucas: You're welcome, Luna. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time on Learn Spanish with Fexingo.
