- 6:56[SPEAKER_09]: a little bit of snow fell some colder temperatures and that colder temperatures are going to continue all week I don't know how much snow we're going to get, but whatever be careful out there be careful Yeah, lots of things you know I was coming over here today.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_09]: I
- 7:13[SPEAKER_09]: is pulling out of the bank over in Clinton Street, down to it and drive.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_09]: And this motorcycle comes down to the right side of the road.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_09]: You don't expect to see it in snowy conditions, but no, it's a bicycle.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_09]: And don't call it that because they had no helmet on, but it's it goes full speed.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_09]: Looks like a motorcycle.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_09]: Surprising, the state of New York, they're sitting there revamping the point system for
- 7:43[SPEAKER_09]: and they let that go on, and they all kind of dangerous.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_09]: Then they saw the gate, he pulls up, and he starts driving down a sidewalk, and that's the snow-covered sidewalk, well, he's got his right, that's why, but it is dangerous.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_09]: Not a, you know, they're not bad looking little vehicles, they're probably pretty efficient and all that, but still.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_09]: What was the top story of Channel 7?
- 8:13[SPEAKER_09]: No, some of Al Venezuela.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_09]: Where's that, is that near a dexter?
- 8:17[SPEAKER_09]: I didn't think so.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_09]: Big doing is denied at the council meeting for you who are interested in city government.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_09]: Let me provide insight.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_09]: One is, as you know, we've got this ethics cloud overhead and an ethics cloud can be very ominous.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_09]: But they've got the held over ordinance
- 8:40[SPEAKER_09]: to borrow $7.2 million to do the renovations of City Hall related to the courthouse.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_09]: Requires a four-fritz vote tonight.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_09]: I don't think they're going to get it.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_09]: And since I think the bit acceptance was made provisional on passing the bond ordinance, I think the bit acceptance is maybe down the drain to the life to do it all again in January.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_09]: Oh well, hey, we got a call coming.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_09]: Then we got a letter from somebody.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_09]: I got it.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_09]: We did too.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon here on the hotline.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_04]: Good morning.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_04]: I'm calling to let people know in the city that the city changed the trash pickup schedule.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_13]: Uh-huh.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_04]: And much to my surprise, I put my trash out first thing Monday morning this morning is they didn't pick it up.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, well, I I did read about that.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_09]: I know what you're supposed to use containers now, which I I agree with that, but I know I think the change starts from Friday to Thursday on Pearl Street.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_04]: So why not now.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_04]: I'm Friday.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_04]: So I've got to put my trash away for two more days.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_09]: Well, it's cold out of one.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_04]: It was right, right, but apparently he said that they notified the public back in October.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_09]: and nobody ever called the outline and ask if they could talk about it or anything like that and where the definitive source of information uh... there was no flyer set out yet was just everybody they all think well you must have read the news story well not everybody does well and at any rate i just thought i'd let everybody know uh... more okay life has changed okay well thank you
- 10:31[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, the other thing is you're supposed to have the bags, you know, you get by a sticker and you're put it on the bag.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_09]: You can't just put the bag on the curb anymore.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_09]: They want it in something, a trash can or something.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_09]: You can get those towed.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_09]: Those toweders aren't there.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_09]: I know you buy your wallet.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_09]: Stop.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_09]: Stop.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_09]: They're not that bad.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_09]: Even if you get a big one, you don't have to get the bear proof wins.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_09]: Even if you get a large 96 gallon one, there are a pocket of half, maybe.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_09]: Get the sticker for free from the city and, you know, that goes on it, and that's that.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_09]: So one time expense.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_09]: Looks nice.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_09]: No, I rather put all of that.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_09]: You know, I was re-get rid of this silly recycling thing, we have here.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_09]: But for some reason, I don't know, we're all, I'm surprised that the number of people I talked to here in the city.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_09]: We'll say I go to the dump with my trash.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_09]: I thought that was a rural thing, but there's a lot of people here in town who go to the dump.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_24]: Hey, I got a question for you, Jeff.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_24]: Jeff Smith, great about saving the sea, all this money by not doing renovations at the... Mm-hmm.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_24]: Do you remember that scenario?
- 11:47[SPEAKER_09]: I remember it.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_24]: All of this is no, they got to do the renovations when apparently he won the victory, but no, he's lost the victory.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_24]: No, back to doing the renovations.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_24]: I don't have all the transfers to get back to spend the money when he says Jim needs to be done.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I guess the requirements of the court system didn't change really, other than that, we don't have two full-time judges.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_09]: I thought I'd have in two local lawyers with the chance to make good money was a good idea,
- 12:19[SPEAKER_09]: I didn't think so.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_09]: I mean that was yeah, that was a false economy.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_09]: But you can call in on Thursday because the former mayor is going to be our guest on Thursday.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_24]: Yeah, I mean he cracked about saving all the city all this money, but I don't think it's it's transferred.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_24]: I guess by what's happening now, but Okay, thank you.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, that ordinance tonight probably won't pass.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_09]: So it was introduced at the last meeting requires unanimous consent to consider it at the first meeting was introduced.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_09]: They didn't have that.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_09]: There was one, no, which is fine.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_09]: That's a procedural thing.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_09]: And then tonight, I don't think they're going to get four fifths from what I hear through the grapevine.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_09]: Now also, an interesting aside, it's an ice meeting in the main stream media hasn't picked up on it, but yours truly has, and that's the five members of the board of ethics.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_09]: Yes, the five, their terms all expire at the end of this month when fine.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_09]: Now, normally when that kind of stuff happens,
- 13:37[SPEAKER_09]: If everybody sort of agrees to re-appoint and the people are willing, you just say, hey, get resolutions that an upcoming meeting to that effect.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_09]: Well, these just appear.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_09]: The council wasn't consulted in any way, at least not all of them.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_09]: So, I don't know about that.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_09]: But they're going to be voting on re-appointing the Board of Ethics, that a week from now on the eighth is going to be meeting to discuss,
- 14:07[SPEAKER_09]: two of the council members were zero and only well then then you'll hear these say you'll hear somebody say before the days all they should be accused and now they shouldn't have convicted of anything or accused of anything really so they can vote on it but are they going to vote no on re-appointing these board of ethics members
- 14:31[SPEAKER_09]: Or are they going to vote yes in an effort to carry favor with him say hey look what we did boy I come on lay office for next week and I frankly don't know if there'll be a meeting next week I was reading a letter today from the Stephen Levin fall who was an attorney for Ms. Regiro and this just arrived this morning at City Hall.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_09]: It's demanding that all copies of all communications submitted to the Board of Ethics are provided to Ms. Rejero, Mr. Olny in the public.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_09]: There was some doubt that they were.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_09]: Right, the mayor had said so.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_09]: Then this letter goes on to say the Board of Ethics is not authorized to investigate complaints.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_09]: It has limited authority to render advisory opinions and suggest amendments to the code of ethics.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_09]: It has no other powers or duties.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_09]: The board of ethics lacks the fact-finding authority and that's a series to determine issues in dispute.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_09]: You know, sometimes these government entities when they get outside the normal courtroom process, do process and the rules and everything go right out the window.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_09]: uh... yeah i'm dealing with that myself with a whole different situation whether somebody makes a complaint there's really no investigation but they have a finding a problem cause anyway and it's just the horrendous what you're end up being subjected to uh... this letter from mr. leventh all goes on to say all members of the sit now presumption on this was the board of ethics
- 16:19[SPEAKER_09]: action to the city council and then the city council or holes are hearing.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_09]: Well, this Mr. Laventhal thinks that all members of the city council are disqualified by conflicts of interest.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_09]: Kimbles shown in the mayor because they're the complainants, right?
- 16:34[SPEAKER_09]: And obviously, the other two, because the defendants.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_09]: This letter says the Board of Ethics will lose all credibility if it
- 16:49[SPEAKER_09]: other than a recommendation that all council members refrain from participating in discussions, hearings, deliberations.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_09]: He's suggesting that you would have to get elected body in another community to hold this hearing.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_09]: Then he goes on to say whether a particular city record is privileged or otherwise confidential is a question of law beyond the competence of the Board of Ethics.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_09]: Well, let's see, oh, he quotes Abraham Lincoln, who famously posed the question, if you call a horse's tail, a leg, how many legs does the horse have?
- 17:34[SPEAKER_09]: He's answered four because calling a horse's tail, a leg doesn't make it a leg.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not sure what that has to do with this case.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_09]: Um, and this letter goes on to talk about what is and what isn't privileged.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_09]: uh... unless the city uh... record is made confidential by federal state lies presume presumptively available to the public communications between city officers and employees are not per se confidential when an individual council member seek legal advice uh... the council member may wave that privilege on that constituent mail is not confidential matters that are subject of extensive news coverage are not constant confidential
- 18:15[SPEAKER_09]: Matters of their disgusted public meetings are information known to the public is not a letter to from a former mayor sent to a media outlet regarding its coverage of the city is not confidential did I who did that?
- 18:29[SPEAKER_09]: And then this letter goes on to say the city attorney must recuse herself she won't she's in this thicker than whatever
- 18:48[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, this letter goes on to claim this whole thing constitutes an open meetings violation because the three who are, the complaints all signed the letter so they took action but it wasn't in a meeting.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_09]: Then over the weekend, Councilman Kimball was on, I don't know, Facebook or something sort of back and off the whole thing.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_09]: And it goes on to say under the December 8 meeting,
- 19:15[SPEAKER_09]: Please note, I will participate virtually at that meeting because Mayor Pearson, Councilman's Kimball, and shown if we have any privilege that they claim applied to the communications which they did do, Councilman Resheros requests the Board of Ethics Meeting to take place in public, not executive session.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_09]: That would seem logical.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_09]: And it goes on to say, the Board of Ethics lacks the competence to determine the legal
- 19:45[SPEAKER_09]: Um, and we anticipate the need to address each email message separately in presenting our defense to the complaint.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_09]: Therefore, the meeting is likely to be lengthy and not be completed in a single session.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_09]: Well, they're not going to grant that.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_09]: They just want to go in there and say, whatever, and then leave.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_09]: But obviously, if you can drag this thing out, it makes it less appealing to the people.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_09]: trying to do whatever they're doing.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_09]: So that's the latest on that, that letter.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know, maybe it'll get on news junkie or something like that.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_09]: You can read it in its entirety.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_09]: You know, I know how much lawyer charge to write letters like this.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_09]: I did find a type of graphical error in it, but not going to make much difference.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_09]: But it could be contentious tonight at the council meeting.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_09]: because of all of this boarding on board of ethic members re-appointment and uh... you know just a whole tenor of things bringing this complaint one member sort of backing off from it and people's reputations and all of that i i don't know why they brought all this up right before christmas good afternoon around the air hi mayor how are you today good
- 21:12[SPEAKER_06]: uh... i've heard to the great by and i thought it seems to be talk around the water cooler uh... all day that um... stood genesis either step down from that position or to step away from being involved in that you heard anything about that you know i frankly uh... think he uh... would be wise to i i i there's no no way you come out of this looking good i mean this is you know people take this ethics board
- 21:38[SPEAKER_09]: appointment, a sort of an honorary thing, I'm on the city of the sport, I'm ethical.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_09]: And you know, maybe if they're asked for an opinion on something once a year, that's a lot.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_09]: I don't think they bought into getting into all of this, because it's going to be a lot.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_09]: It's going to get personal.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_09]: Their renomination is going to be debated tonight.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_09]: And you suspect that it would not surprise me if Mr. Jennings is the county public
- 22:04[SPEAKER_09]: It would not surprise me if you want to do a scammer away from this stuff I would if I were him and if you know if I if he was sitting here right now I'd say Mr. Jennings Get out of this briar patch Well I hear that is what he has done or that is what he's been doing and I also heard that his
- 22:26[SPEAKER_06]: his knowledge and the knowledge of the people that are involved in that whole committee are to praise people, not to condemn people.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_06]: And so it's kind of used in a little different way than it was set up.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_09]: It's being used as a political bludgeon.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_09]: Now again, I am not defending the purchase of golf courses and pools.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not suggesting that there weren't a lot of emails or whatever they alleged.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_09]: But I'm saying despite all these investigations there's no criminality found or at least charge and he can't sit there and say, well, they broke the law but they just didn't get caught.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_09]: Well, you don't know that.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, it's, well, let's take worst case scenario and say it's far one way or it's far the other way.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_06]: And then the matter after the first time.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, do you think uh... would he withdraw his uh... name from uh... the resolution tonight not secret we appointment i i don't know i guess we'll have to see but that's that's what i hear brewing for more than one person that this is something he's he's walking away from no he did get
- 23:29[SPEAKER_06]: be to how any wetting like Biden did after this whole COVID thing.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_06]: I'm sure he doesn't want any more.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_09]: Well, no, but I mean, you know, this this thing should be a public meeting, not next week.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_09]: And whatever they're going to do with it, I, you know, I guess, was there was attorney suggest they don't really have the jurisdiction or competence to do it.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe at this point, I'm guessing that Mr. Jennings just agreed and says no, I'm not set up to do any of this.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_06]: Why am I involved?
- 23:55[SPEAKER_09]: Be a smart determination on his part.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_06]: I might be even more extreme than he's just stepped down from the position saying his hands are full.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_06]: You know, that could be true.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_06]: Fire with the other four.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_06]: I've heard it.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_06]: I'm sure you had two.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_09]: I haven't heard it, but it's a good idea.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_09]: Listen, I...
- 24:11[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_09]: But I'd like to be in the Board of Ethics, so I can say to people, I'm on the Board of Ethics, I guess.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_09]: But I wouldn't want to get in the middle of this.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_06]: Well, selling that devil's brew, that's never going to happen.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_06]: No.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_06]: And that note, I'm going to let you go, Mayor.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_06]: You have a great afternoon.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you so much.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_09]: Well, that would be news if it's true, but we don't know if it's true.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_09]: But if it is, it's news.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_09]: It would make sense.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_09]: Now, whether the other members of this board want to be part of all of this, I don't know.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_09]: I don't think that's what they signed up for, frankly.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_09]: You know, an acrimonious, vindictive use of the whatever, and I've never heard of it used in this way before, and I also agree that how could the council make the complaint and then get a rubber stamp agency to issue a finding of probable cause and then they decide to hold a hearing and then they're the judge at the hearing.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_09]: I'm a majority of holds here.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_09]: I don't get the whole thing.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_09]: And then still provide no defense to the other side, on the same body they serve on.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_09]: There's just a lot of things that I don't know maybe it's new and it's great we got former Mayor Smith coming in Thursday because he can explain it all to us but whether what that caller said is true, I don't know.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_09]: Steve Jennings is a nice guy, there really is.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_09]: Prince of a guy.

- 29:23[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_09]: I'm Jeff Graham.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_09]: This is America's favorite noon time talk show coming to you every day at this time on this community broadcast station.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_09]: Um, so that's the latest we're talking about there with all of the, uh, um, ruminations and permutations and machinations or whatever at the city council, um, but there's not a lot on the agenda tonight, but there is an opportunity for some flash points there.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_09]: Tensions are high.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_09]: No doubt about that.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_09]: And, uh, you know,
- 30:00[SPEAKER_09]: I'm sure if you were, uh, was Jero and you had a tough defeat there and the polls and then all of a sudden they just decided, uh, wacky, uh, like this on the way out the door and on that as far as Cliff only.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_09]: A lot of people say he deserves it.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_09]: Have you heard that?
- 30:18[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_09]: He deserves it.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_09]: So anyway, that's going on.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_09]: What else is going on nationally is a lot there, of course.
- 30:27[UNKNOWN]: Um,
- 30:28[SPEAKER_09]: I had national guards shooting the other day.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_09]: What a tragedy.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_09]: What a horrible tragedy.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_09]: And this is the national guard.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_09]: They were doing their job.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_09]: They weren't hurting anybody.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_09]: They were just trying to be a presence there, to maintain some more law in order.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_09]: I think it was helping somewhat whether we needed them there long or I don't know.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_09]: But you know, these are the same national guard.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_09]: 20-year-old woman from West Virginia.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_09]: Governor Pritzers says these people are
- 30:56[SPEAKER_09]: terrorizing our cities that what kind of people terrorize terrorists that's who terrorizes so he got pretty square there now when he's not feeding this face he says things like that and of course you got the Democrats around saying well military don't you obey that president they might be illegal order isn't that Kelly out in Arizona oh man
- 31:25[SPEAKER_09]: Um, a lot of things they've been as a whale thing.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not a big fan of these boat Bommings, I I troubled by that I don't agree with everything the president.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_09]: I don't think that's a good idea Um Well, we got a call.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon you're on the air.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, do it.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_09]: All right, what's up?
- 31:48[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, you know, just a good bubbly day and water down.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_05]: Uh-huh.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_05]: You're the fault today.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_13]: Mm-hmm.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I wanted to talk about how the news is being put out, there's a couple of things actually.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_05]: You were talking about, you know, the way news is put out there nowadays.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_05]: Well, what really bothers me is when there's a car accident or something, and then like news junky releases to speak, roll over coax that, and they don't release any names or anything like that, which they shouldn't do that anyways.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_05]: for people, like new junkies, fame, spooker, new junkies, that's or whatever, whoever it is.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_05]: And not just new junkies, because not the only new site that knows it.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_05]: But they leave a comment section open, so people can come on there and say, oh, so sorry for this person.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_05]: And the family, most of the family hasn't been notified yet.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 32:46[UNKNOWN]: You know what I'm saying?
- 32:47[UNKNOWN]: They've got to stop doing that.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_09]: That is not the way to put news out there as far as our concern.
- 32:55[UNKNOWN]: you know, you just don't do that.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_05]: You're most of the family's not notified and you throw you, and then you're the other people comment on that.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_09]: Well, a lot of people upset, a lot of people obsess on these comment pages for this or that.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_09]: I got one guy, he listen, he just devours all the comments and, you know, it's a roller coaster.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_09]: It's worked up over this and not that and everything.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_09]: It's just, uh,
- 33:22[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know how many people but I agree all the comments about characterizing it was like what was said When the night the guards woman was killed in Washington and he had people on there saying well, she deserved it or something Yeah, you don't need that kind of talk Okay, you know, I mean that's just my opinion on that and uh and on Thursday
- 33:53[SPEAKER_05]: I really don't.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_05]: I hope you really, I hope you flame them.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_09]: Hey, thank you.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_09]: Well, listen, it's not my intention to have the mayor in here to slam him.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_09]: Um, you know, this is one of Chad, if you want to talk about it, you can talk about it.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_09]: I got to try to play Perry Mason here.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_09]: Let's see what's going on in the news.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_09]: A new trash guide lines and a fact you can go to news junkie and read about them.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_09]: uh... cold weather running is a story about the governor's distraction free schools law you know there's some uh... things you can say about the governor that are bad not her energy policy and electric mandates and all of that bad bad but cell phones in school good idea that's working out well from what i understand
- 34:49[SPEAKER_09]: You know, it's a cloistered setting over there.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_09]: We're not allowed to know too much about what's happening.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_09]: But if anything, I'd be, if I were superintendent and rather than, you know, let people Rubinate about litter boxes in a school, when I get the story out and write the media up to talk to everybody about the no cell phone thing, I think it would go over well because everybody's kind of curious, you know.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_09]: Well, let's see, minimum wage is going up again.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_09]: Yep, what's it going up to now?
- 35:28[SPEAKER_09]: Well, in upstate New York, on the first of the year, $16 an hour.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_09]: And when you were getting paid $2 an hour, and it went to $210 an hour, and that was a big deal.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_09]: But of course, is that a living wage?
- 35:45[SPEAKER_09]: Is that enough to live on?
- 35:49[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if you've worked 40 hours a week at $840 dollars, no way to make $640, I'm sorry.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_09]: That would be in the low 30s, certainly not bad money as a second income in a family, but is it a living wage?
- 36:12[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_09]: You know, it's really hard to, businesses, employers are really in the squeeze.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, you want to keep ahead of that.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_09]: So you want to offer something better, but it just keeps going up by pretty big percentages.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_09]: It's kind of difficult.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, well, don't forget the tax guidance is out on the big, beautiful bill.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_09]: And it does affect things like deductibility of car interest on car payments, the whole tips
- 36:47[SPEAKER_09]: Tips up to $25,000 and declared tips can be stricken from the tax return and I think it's the 10 or 12,000 or something in overtime what the computing overtime like you get the half time and a half the half part is deductible so you know you could end up not got a few hundred dollars in tax liability off if you just pay attention
- 37:10[SPEAKER_09]: And I know Shannon would probably know how to, you know, all the details of it, but I'm not sure everybody else does.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_09]: So before you get doing your taxes, be thinking about that.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_09]: Identify those numbers on your W2, because they're not going to show up on your final pay stub for the year.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_09]: The overtime and tip numbers, whether they show up on the W2, I don't think for the overtime, but, you know, keep track of that.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_09]: Don't wait for somebody to tell you.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_09]: It's there and, you know, whether it saves you a hundred bucks, it's worth the extra filling in a line on a piece of paper.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_09]: All righty, 755, 1240 is the phone number if you'd like to give us a call to be on the show of shows today.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_09]: Well, let's see, do, do, do, do, do, do.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_09]: a decade ago in the arc of seven twenty five an hour but it's really gone up really gone up i don't think the i don't know a lot of people having every situations different i mean a lot of people these days work under the table i mean who doesn't
- 38:34[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, if you have somebody coming and fix your toilet or something and it charges your 40 bucks, there's no sales tax or payroll tax in that, or you get one of the guys over to put a deck on the back of your house, it's going to pay him in cash, I mean, more and more were in a cash economy, and even a lot of contractors will ask you, you know, can you give me that.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_09]: kind of in cash or something like that and you know we'll save you some money here or whatever whether they do or not I don't know.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_09]: So you're seeing more and more of that is more of these government regulations and it's almost dangerous to employ people nowadays with all the potential liability.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_09]: So that to see but it does go up to 16 an hour.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_09]: Good news here at the hotline I don't know.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_18]: Well, if you look into that, 755-1240, the phone number will take time out for a message or two and be right back.

- 43:05[SPEAKER_09]: Um, let's see what went out over the weekend.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_09]: There was today's cyber Monday, tomorrow's giving Tuesday, Saturday with small business day, what's all that mean?
- 43:19[SPEAKER_09]: I don't think it affects really anyone, uh, or their habits or so on.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_09]: If you want to give, you can do it on any day.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_09]: As far as online cyber purchases, we do that.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_09]: Most people do that on a regular basis.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_09]: It's not a big deal.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_09]: So that's all just a lot of media who we, you know, I was watching Edline on the news at noon today, but North Country people respond to the small business, you don't know if they responded or now you have no way of knowing that, and exactly, well, anyway, that was something that one caller called in about Steve Jennings,
- 44:01[SPEAKER_09]: I, that would not surprise me in the least because I would think, you know, he's not just a, some retired smaku got on a board or something.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_09]: He's a county public health director and as you really need his name involved with all of this stuff because the recriminations are going to get more intense as a year goes
- 44:31[SPEAKER_09]: You don't need me to stir the pot, I didn't even start this thing.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, the pot is stirred.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_09]: And I don't think he, I doubt he would want anything to do with it.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_09]: Or the other man, who else is on that board, Rutherford and Mrs. Ref, she's so nice.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_09]: I remember when she was library directors, she was very nice.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_09]: Well, who doesn't like librarians, right?
- 44:58[SPEAKER_09]: But,
- 45:00[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_09]: I think there's too much acrimony in this process for them wanting to want to be involved anymore.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_09]: And it would be an interesting gesture if they all sort of walked away from the board of ethics and said, yeah.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_09]: It's not what we signed up for.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_09]: This body is being used in a way it wasn't intended and that's that.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_09]: Well, somebody's texting about Jennings and the COVID thing.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_09]: That's another story.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_09]: Those were confusing times.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_09]: 755, 1240 phone number, if you'd like to give us a call, to be on the show of shows today.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_09]: And don't forget the new trash pick-up rules, whatever they may be.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_09]: Let's see what they are.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_09]: Let's go on news, Drunky, and see what they are.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_09]: I don't think that owner is really they've changed some of the days I get that But it's kind of like when you look at the weather on like spectrum Used to be weather on the eighths now.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_09]: It's weather on the ones whether on the twos what's the difference you know they move it around Let's see the containment All rubbish must be contained in a proof watertight trash in garbage cans
- 46:31[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, that's reasonable.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_09]: City provided tote sticker yet.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_09]: They'll send it to you.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_09]: Or you can go pick it up.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_09]: That's no big deal.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_09]: Collection routes have changed.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_09]: And there's an expansion of services to commercial properties.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I think that's nice and you're most commercial properties.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_09]: How is there trash difference anybody?
- 46:56[SPEAKER_09]: I never could understand the prohibition on that.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_09]: They want to buy the bags or get a toad or something like that, good for them.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_09]: Now, it may be more efficient for a big producer of trash commercially to use a dumpster.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_09]: But not everyone, I mean a small law office, his doctor's office is a lot of things.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_09]: Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
- 48:01[SPEAKER_09]: Now, the recycling thing I still disagree with is I think recycling is largely a hoax.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_09]: Somebody text in, let's go for a barbecue tomorrow.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_09]: No thanks.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_09]: A lot of weird things, you know, when you're phone.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, let's see, what else were you going on?
- 48:30[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, I had this nice young lady come over and do some cleaning yesterday, you know, you got to do that once in a while.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_09]: Above and beyond the day to day stuff.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_09]: Those darn cobwebs, you know.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_09]: If you need somebody to do cleaning, you know, get a hold of me, I can't, I can't say it on the air, obviously.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_09]: Well, let's see, football, the bills won,
- 49:01[SPEAKER_09]: on juts one last second field goal fifty six year order and i think the giants play tonight against uh... patriots don't they that's an important game and for the patriots if they win that it's uh... there in our overwhelmingly good spot in the uh... they have c.e.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_09]: as far as the giants well not so good
- 49:34[SPEAKER_09]: only you know we had an interesting thing yesterday adore and ever had this happen the door to the outside for apartments something happened the door not assembly and it's not that old a door really but uh... there's a ten and there was a police officer visiting to get a fill out some accident complaint or something like that i don't know
- 50:04[SPEAKER_09]: But I get this call, they're trapped inside.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_09]: I think God, the welder was there, and he went up and got the door open, and we replaced the locks at this morning.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_09]: But wow, what a weird thing.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_09]: We had a police officer trapped in our building.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_09]: And I don't know.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_09]: With the next step would be, you could either kick the door down or call the fire to part, but I guess.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_09]: Man, that'd be a lot of hardware in the parking lot.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_09]: Hello, you don't want to talk, you call a talk show and don't want to talk, come on man.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_09]: Hey, Christmas decorations this weekend.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_09]: We got rid of the gourd.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_09]: They were lovely gourd.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_09]: It's my good friend Megan Savoro.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_09]: Um, and um, got rid of those in any pumpkins and fall decorations and, uh, with the Christmas decorations up, I don't really put up a lot anymore.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_09]: Um, because I'm a cramudge in a grinch.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_09]: But still, we put them up.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_09]: We've got the tree up and the little things like that.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_09]: Looks nice.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_09]: Looks very nice.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_09]: But after doing your own air.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_07]: Hey Jeff, you mentioned that COVID was a confusing time.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_13]: Aha.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_07]: I don't, I'm going to disagree with that.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, if you trusted the science and stuff like that, you weren't smart enough to think for yourself, then maybe you could be confusing.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_07]: But there's other people that seen it from the beginning of how much of a scam it was and how these vaccines were killing people.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_07]: Did you see over the weekend the FDA admits
- 51:44[SPEAKER_07]: that uh... ten children were killed by vaccinations uh... and i did see something like that yeah yeah and i'm that's the graceful that they only said ten when there's that numbers way higher it's thousands of thousands more okay i i really but then again you can go on junkie and i'll see a link continues for the vaccine or if you listen to the
- 52:15[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, okay.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_09]: Well, that sounds good.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, you know, I agree with you.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_09]: I don't really know all the details.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_09]: I can't.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_09]: You know, I know there were a lot of problems with it, and I'm not trying to link the covert thing to the ethics board, if that's what you want to do.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_08]: Okay, I don't disagree with it.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, you know, but it's over with now.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_08]: You got ads, they're making a commercial, and then you got the news and town that are so promoting it.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_08]: Well, yeah, but I'm going to tell each of the weeks ago, the pharmacist from Teddy's, called the Glen Show, and say, all you gotta come get your vaccine, don't say anything different.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_08]: No, you're killing people down there at Teddy's house.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
- 53:41[SPEAKER_09]: Well, you've got to get first of all.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_09]: You've got to fix your phone.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_09]: You're cutting out too.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_09]: So you work on that and then get back to me.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_09]: Thanks.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, the whole it's a complicated issue.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_09]: But I agree.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_09]: We were all not well served by the advice that was given out at the time in many cases.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, we got a text.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, we got another commercial.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_09]: Let's do that.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_18]: Just don't say it off in enough.
