- 0:38Music.
- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02Your Heavenly Father is so in tune with your day-to-day activities,
- 1:07wants, and needs that He knows exactly what you need before you even ask Him.
- 1:12This is comforting and so reassuring.
- 1:15He is ready, willing, and able to help you before you even ask.
- 1:20God does not need you to tell Him anything. He wants you to tell Him things.
- 1:25He wants you to put your trust in Him.
- 1:28He wants you to communicate with Him and to have a relationship based on trust,
- 1:33respect, and mutual affection.
- 1:35Join us in this program, Meeting Your Needs, as Kim Miller of Women at the Well
- 1:39Ministries takes us through Matthew 6-8, which says, Be not therefore like unto
- 1:45them, for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of before ye ask him.
- 1:50Hello and welcome to this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
- 1:54And it's an interesting thing when we look at Matthew chapter 6.
- 1:58And he gives this warning that we're not to pray as the heathen do with these
- 2:05vain repetitions because they think that the more they speak,
- 2:08that the better they'll be heard.
- 2:11And what it kind of gives us this impression is that you need to have confidence in the Lord.
- 2:20The Lord knows what you need.
- 2:24He knows all about you. And for the child of God, that should be incredibly comforting.
- 2:32But he wants you to come to him, showing that you have faith that he will provide your need.
- 2:41He wants you to ask him because he's a gentleman. He's not going to impose himself on you.
- 2:49That's why there's people who go to hell. Because God doesn't want any to perish,
- 2:54but he wishes that all should come to repentance.
- 2:56And so he doesn't impose himself on anyone. He shows himself to everyone.
- 3:02He reveals who he is to every single soul on the earth, and he reaches out to them.
- 3:09Yet many choose to reject him. He still blesses them with sunshine and rain.
- 3:17He still provides for them in many ways. But when it comes to salvation,
- 3:24he requires we choose him.
- 3:27He requires that we love him.
- 3:31And in this passage of Scripture, he's saying it's not about you.
- 3:36It's not about the person praying.
- 3:39It's about to whom we pray to. Now, it is true that the psalmist David tells
- 3:44us that God will not hear any prayers that we pray with iniquity in our heart.
- 3:48And that in itself is about us.
- 3:52It's about our standing with him. He will hear all prayers of repentance.
- 3:58But as a child of God we need to live a life that is in right standing you know it's kind of like,
- 4:08when you were a child and you just disobeyed your parents you didn't ask them
- 4:13for the newest gift you wanted not at that moment you kind of went up to them
- 4:18usually hugged them especially if you're a girl and it was your dad and you'd
- 4:21crawl on his lap and you would tell him how wonderful he was and how much you
- 4:25loved him and you'd bat your little eyes.
- 4:26And the next thing you knew, you had him wrapped around your fingers and you
- 4:30would get what you wanted.
- 4:32Well, we can't deceive the Lord, but we also can't be asking for his blessings,
- 4:40when we're not living in a place where we can receive the blessings.
- 4:43You see, the Lord has blessings for each and every one of us,
- 4:47but we've got to be where they are.
- 4:49And that means we need to live the life he's asking us to live that he can bless us.
- 4:55Another way of looking at it is when the woman at the well came to the well,
- 5:00she came with an empty water pot because she wanted it filled.
- 5:05When we come to Jesus, we need to come with a clean heart that is empty of the
- 5:12evil, sinful, vile things of the world, that he might fill it with his glory and his grace,
- 5:19his mercy and his love.
- 5:21We need to have something to receive the blessings.
- 5:25And those simple illustrations help us to understand a little bit more about
- 5:30what these heathenistic publicans, probably, were doing when they prayed.
- 5:36They weren't praising the Lord and coming to the Lord for his guidance and coming
- 5:42to the Lord for his blessings and coming to the Lord for him to help them.
- 5:45They were standing there praying so that people would think they were holy and they were good.
- 5:50The center of their prayer was not Jesus Christ, but the center of their prayer was themselves.
- 5:58It's not about you. it's about
- 6:01him none of us can come to him
- 6:04deserving the blessings that he gives but
- 6:08every single child of god is bid to come to the throne of grace that we might
- 6:14obtain help and mercy in time of need that we can ask him and we'll receive.
- 6:21Seek and we shall find knock and it'll be opened unto us.
- 6:26But it's because we come seeking a holy God. And he said, be holy for I am holy.
- 6:34And we look at this scripture. He says that he knows the things we have need of before we ask.
- 6:40He's waiting to bless us with the things we have need of.
- 6:45The Bible says he supplies our every need.
- 6:48The Bible says we can do all things through Christ which strengthens us.
- 6:52The Bible says that every good and perfect gift cometh down from the father
- 6:55of lights the bible says that he wants to bless us he's just waiting for the
- 7:04invitation and he's waiting for us to submit to his mighty hand.
- 7:12And he will exalt us in due time.
- 7:16Every need that you have, he's not searching for.
- 7:22He's waiting to give to you.
- 7:26Sometimes we wait because he needs to teach us something.
- 7:33We need to grow in some area that would make us more of what he wants us to
- 7:40be, which in turn makes us more of what we can be.
- 7:45Sometimes we wait because somebody else needs to grow.
- 7:52And somehow, someway, by watching you glorify him going through this trial,
- 7:58going through this issue, being in this state of needing his help,
- 8:03that is going to strengthen them.
- 8:06Sometimes we wait so
- 8:10that we can be the blessing remember lazarus
- 8:15died and his sisters were devastated in fact his one sister says had jesus when
- 8:27jesus comes had you been here he would not have died.
- 8:31The absolute audacity to look at Jesus and pretty much admonish him for being
- 8:41what she thought was a little late.
- 8:45Oh, but before you judge, think of the times that you too have done that.
- 8:50Lord, if you'd just show up. Lord, if you'd just be here, I know you could do this.
- 8:56We trust in his ability, but we're not trusting his timing. We're not trusting in his sovereignty.
- 9:03That, my dear friend, is a big mistake.
- 9:07But Jesus, just in time, he speaks to Lazarus, and Lazarus raises from the dead.
- 9:16And at that moment, Mary and Martha and all around received the greater blessing,
- 9:25for plenty of people had been healed, but no one had been raised from the dead.
- 9:30But the greater blessing often awaits those who are willing to wait upon the
- 9:38Lord, and he renews their strength, and they will rise up as eagles.
- 9:42They'll fly over the problem.
- 9:44But it requires trusting his sovereignty. I've so often was guilty as a child,
- 9:50and I think sometimes still am, of saying, I know the Lord can do this. My mom was very sick.
- 9:57And I used to say all the time, I have no doubt.
- 10:00That the Lord can heal her. I just don't know if he will.
- 10:07And what a statement that truly was of my faith. I believed he was an almighty God.
- 10:15I believed he was all powerful.
- 10:18Beyond a shadow of a doubt, I don't think there's a thing God can do,
- 10:21can't do, except I know he can't fail.
- 10:25But what I was lacking in my face was trusting his wisdom to do the right thing.
- 10:33You see, I wanted her healed.
- 10:36And many times he came through with that very thing. And her witness would light
- 10:41up the hall of hospital after hospital.
- 10:44But one day, her healing wasn't here. It was with him.
- 10:50And he was just as right that day as he had been any other day.
- 10:55I was old enough to understand that true faith in God is believing not only
- 11:02that he can, but that he does.
- 11:06You see, he can make the situation right, and he does make the situation and right.
- 11:12It doesn't matter whether I think it's right or is what I would have chosen or not.
- 11:17But true faith in understanding that he meets your every need is realizing who
- 11:23God is and believing that he's right in all of his ways.
- 11:29That requires true faith in Jesus Christ and relieving yourself of any contribution to the outcome.
- 11:38You see, the publicans prayed out loud so that people would think they were holy.
- 11:43They were placing something about themselves.
- 11:46But the true child of God who wants to see action, who wants to see the power
- 11:52of God unveiled, seeks his face to find his will to praise his actions.
- 12:01Jesus loves me, and he meets my every need.
