- 0:00SPEAKER_01: I told you the story of uh growing up in Buffalo and uh Barb Brown who lived a couple street uh a couple doors down.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: My mom and Barb became pretty close.
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: They were, you know, like coffee in the morning buddies and all that.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: Cute.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: And uh big age gap and all that stuff.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: Barb You said Barb was younger than your mom.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Oh yes.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Barb was younger at least by 20 years, maybe 30 years, to be honest with you.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Because I think, let's see, my mom around this time would have been in her 40s.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: I think Barb would have been like well, maybe it wasn't that huge.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: It was enough of a of an age gap that you're like, oh, you're not just hanging out with one of your girls, like this is one of your golden girls.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Well, my mom wasn't a gold, it was a difference.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Let's go at least 20 years.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: It's just so funny because when you're younger, you really don't get age because everybody seems older, you know?
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And then as you're as an adult, you're like, oh, now I understand.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, and it's gotta be about 20 years.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: And I told you how, you know, she had a wild, uh, a little bit of a wild spirit.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: And um Barb sounds like a wild name.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Barb, well, yeah.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: But at the time, you know, and uh I she got me a boob cake for my 16th birthday in Babs.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: You were a little little little shocked at this.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: You were like, 16?
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Keep in mind, it was 1987.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: We were all older in the 80s than we really were.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Okay, so when I was 16 in the in the in the in uh 1987, but the reality to it is somehow in the 80s, even everybody looked older than they were.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: So we I was more like 26 in 87 instead of 16.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Every 20-some-year-old in any 80s sitcom looks like they're 45.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: It's wild to look.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: Well, then we go over to 3504 and they say, I remember my brother getting a boob cake.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: I think he was uh 16 too.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: It must have been a rite of passage for for boys in a brief moment.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: I just cannot imagine my brother receiving a boob cake from a neighbor.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Well, let me tell you.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm thinking in my head.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: I do believe I remember that we had to consume the boobs prior to my father getting home, who was not as wild and free of a spirit as my mother was.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: So you had Betty and Barb, which does sound like we're casting for the Golden Girls phase two, but you had Betty and Barb, who were, you know, they they had a good sense of humor and a little wild streak.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: And then you had my father, who was pretty straight down the line.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: But two boobs are really, it's gonna be a long time to get through two boobs.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: It wasn't a huge cake.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: It wasn't, I mean, it wasn't.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: What you have to do is, and in order for Lee to at least get a piece, is that you have to eat like kind of around it.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: So you got you have to eat the nipple first.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Which I believe was a cherry.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: I believe it was a cherry cut in the half.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, Barb Brown, you wild minks.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: I think it was a cherry cut in half.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: I really do.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: One for each boob.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: And then you have to cut down the sides, and then you cut over the top.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: So that would be- You're really analyzing this.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: I don't know how we dug into it.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: By the time Lee gets home, it's just two squares.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: And he's gonna be like, What's the two squares?
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, I'll take the vanilla, I guess.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, right, right, right, exactly.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, wait.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: One final question about the boob cake.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, this is come on, this is a long time ago.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to it was just funny seeing this thing sitting on the kitchen table.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Was one boob chocolate, one boob vanilla?
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: I don't remember.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, come on, it was 1987.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: I'm just curious.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't remember.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: I just think that Lee should have gotten a slice, but he just didn't know what he was eating.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty sure he got something, but uh mortified.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: That's what he got.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: But no, because you guys covered it up first.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Uh yes.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Uh uh.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: I I just seem to remember that being like not able to just be in all its glory on the table when my dad got it home.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: He was uh He didn't get a cherry.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: He was a touch strength.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: He he lost on this.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: One thing if you've been listening to the Knot for Air podcast, is and this is Scott and I's podcast uh after the show, about a half hour, 40 minutes that we dive into other stuff.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Well, you have been doing this like kind of warmer upper thing.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I want to keep the you know, Allie's brain going here.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna warm you up here with these It's always an adventure too with her.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I know nothing about the solar system.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: That's what we've walked away with.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Every stinking time.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna give you three warmer Unless it has a song attached to it.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: And then you remember everything with it.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: No, that's not true.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: If you listen to the podcast, you notice that I messed it up.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's right, you did.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: So, no, I really don't know anything about the solar system.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna give you three warmer-up questions for the morning, okay?
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: And everyone, you can answer these, you can answer them on a text.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: But these aren't necessarily trivia questions.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: These are okay, be ready.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Just warmer-up or questions.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Gotcha.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Okay, go.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: You're backing out of a parking space.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Barely bump another car.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: No one saw it, and it barely left a mark.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Do you leave a note or just keep driving?
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Keep driving.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: I hate to say it, but probably, but the right thing to do, because I just talked to last night, Coach Melissa for Lydia's team was telling us her brand new, brand new expedition.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Somebody with white paint ripped up the side of her car.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: Didn't even know it.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: She didn't even know it until they were washing the car.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Her husband goes, What's this all about?
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Which is such the classic husband line.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: And uh, and I mean, she's like, I was just so and no note.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: And that was actually a topic discussion last night for a minute before the kids started playing, was like there was no note.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: And it's like, technically, I think you're supposed to leave a note.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And with this, I've already gotten out of the car to inspect it.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: I have to leave a note.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Let me tell you what Lee would do, my father.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: He'd leave a note.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: You and I driving off.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Then we have you're out at the bar on a Friday night.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: You spot the boss's 18-year-old son getting hammered.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Do you say anything to the boss?
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: It depends.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: We've had relationships with bosses at different levels over the years.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: If you're real tight with the boss, then you can say something.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: You can be like, whoa, did you know that?
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Well, you don't think Brent was getting hammered.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: You don't even say, Did you know?
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: You come at it like this, you go, how was Brent on Sunday?
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: Was he moving a little slow?
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: And then that opens the door, you know, because the boss might be like, And that's a two-day hangover since you saw him on Friday.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: Be like, oh yeah, that was rough, you know, whatever the case may be.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Because here's the thing I would say, you know what?
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: I would honestly do something really smart.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Um, if it looked like he was getting anywhere near a car or anything like that, I would either notify the parents or I'd go up to him and be like, dude, you come with me.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, because and this is now this is getting a little slightly s more serious.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Because he's 18, he's underage.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: Number one, number two, see, it's not my place to discipline him, but I don't I don't want him getting hurt.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: This right, and it's this could be the beginning of a problem.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, that's I know I know somebody in this almost exact same situation, and at a at a young age, it's becoming a problem.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm just saying though, it's like I'm not gonna reprimand you, I'm not gonna lecture you, but I'm not gonna let you get hurt.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Right, exactly, because I think that you would want to be told.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: All that's stemming from do you tell the boss.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Like if it was your kids, wouldn't you want to be told?
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: You're on a long road trip, and nobody wants to be the bad guy.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: But you know what, Scott?
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Be the hero.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Anyway, you're on a long road trip.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: You stop at a gas station for a number two.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: You clogged the toilet.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Do you tell them on the way out or just leave?
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Hell no, out the door.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: See ya!
