Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Previously on Relatables Baddies book Club. Ah'm ahti, No it's not. No,
- 0:06Speaker 1: it's not because I because.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I have in my head that he's like, because I
- 0:12Speaker 2: only have my mental description of what I've read. He
- 0:16Speaker 2: just has a normal accent, and he's just called a
- 0:18Speaker 2: pirate and he doesn't actually have like an aha mites
- 0:21Speaker 2: type thing.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Welcome to Relatables Baddie's Book Club, where we will embark
- 0:25Speaker 1: on a journey reading some of the finest pieces of
- 0:28Speaker 1: literature you have ever laid eyes or is if that's
- 0:30Speaker 1: your preferred way to consume a book on Assassin's Blade
- 0:35Speaker 1: part called The Assassin and the Heiler technically part two. Yeah,
- 0:39Speaker 1: this is the second short novella. Yeah, this one was
- 0:43Speaker 1: very much a novella.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I thought it was, and I jim of the prediction
- 0:48Speaker 2: I made last episode where I said, I have a
- 0:50Speaker 2: feeling every single one of these is going to be
- 0:53Speaker 2: someone or someone who can't really help themselves and Selene
- 0:57Speaker 2: is going to do something about it.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Yeah, this next one.
- 1:00Speaker 2: The next one's called The Assassin in the Desert, so
- 1:03Speaker 2: there's no one in the desert, so.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I was happy it was in the right timeline. It
- 1:08Speaker 1: was still after the Pirate one same, I thought it
- 1:11Speaker 1: would be a completely different story with no connection at all.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I like that, and how the next one
- 1:16Speaker 2: is obviously also where she's going. Yeah, it's like a
- 1:19Speaker 2: bit of I saw someone comment on I think Patreon,
- 1:25Speaker 2: you know, relatables.
- 1:26Speaker 1: What's what's our patron called again, lettle sixty nine? This
- 1:30Speaker 1: is your thing forward slash fucking whatever for a long time.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Anyway, the description you can binge every book Club episode
- 1:38Speaker 2: over there before they come out of Spotify.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Someone commented over there.
- 1:43Speaker 2: That they picture in their mind the book of Assassin's
- 1:47Speaker 2: Blade being Aileen.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Who is Selena? I'm pretty sure obviously her name is
- 1:53Speaker 1: changed to Aileen, which in my opinion is kind of annoying.
- 1:56Speaker 2: But anyway, Aileen her thinking about the story, if that
- 2:02Speaker 2: makes any sense, her reminiscing type of thing. Oh I
- 2:05Speaker 2: get it, Yeah, I know, man, Like hopefully I hope
- 2:08Speaker 2: she her name just stays as Selena, because it's stuck
- 2:12Speaker 2: in my head, my head, two full books with the
- 2:16Speaker 2: name Selena, and then we have to think about, like
- 2:18Speaker 2: we have to call her fucking But she doesn't know,
- 2:21Speaker 2: she knows who she is, She's known who she is
- 2:25Speaker 2: as well, because someone else commented, like, I like to
- 2:28Speaker 2: think that the reason she never says it in Throne
- 2:34Speaker 2: of Glass or Crown at Midnight is because she just
- 2:36Speaker 2: wasn't ready to say it yet.
- 2:38Speaker 1: She wasn't prepared, And in this she's quite jarring a
- 2:45Speaker 1: little bit. Oh my god, she's young. Yeah, she's very young.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And there's a few sly comments and and Dovia fucking
- 2:54Speaker 1: humbled her. Yeah, she's gassing herself up. I think she's
- 2:57Speaker 1: a bad Maybe she is, but also she's just like
- 3:00Speaker 1: two cocky.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, she's one of those like people that have
- 3:04Speaker 2: been told their whole life like she she is what
- 3:07Speaker 2: I would be if I stayed in Canada. Every time
- 3:10Speaker 2: I call my mom, she's like, hello, handsome boy, and
- 3:12Speaker 2: I'm like, oh yeah, yeah.
- 3:14Speaker 1: There was one line she was in like the pub
- 3:15Speaker 1: or whatever, and she was describing one of the rageresses
- 3:19Speaker 1: getting like I don't know, groped and like talked up,
- 3:21Speaker 1: being like what are you doing later? And she's like, oh,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I wish that would happen to me so I could
- 3:25Speaker 1: like punch someone like I must not be looking good tonight.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Fucking shut up, Selena, right mate. He always thinks They're
- 3:33Speaker 1: like a tanner, like I can get anyone tonight, and
- 3:35Speaker 1: then they go home with no one and it's like yeah, yah, yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 1: they're like I could get anyone, but I choose not to.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Yeah that's Selena. That's literally Selena. But before we get
- 3:45Speaker 1: into the recaps, I had something fun to do and
- 3:49Speaker 1: this came from So I've been editing all the book
- 3:51Speaker 1: clubs and uh in one of I think it might
- 3:56Speaker 1: have been the finale of the last book. Yeah, Jake, well,
- 4:01Speaker 1: you've been actually very passionate in all of the books.
- 4:03Speaker 1: How you feel about Dorian. Yeah, I I, for some
- 4:07Speaker 1: reason a Median hater, which seems to be contradictory of
- 4:11Speaker 1: all the baddies. So I have a feeling I will
- 4:14Speaker 1: change my mind's that's the feeling I get. But as
- 4:18Speaker 1: of right now, it's like everyone loves Dorian and I'm
- 4:21Speaker 1: just thinking like why Yeah, And so I put on
- 4:24Speaker 1: our Instagram what do we think of Dorian. I've got
- 4:27Speaker 1: a few responses, and this is we have no context
- 4:30Speaker 1: to where they are or we are in the book.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Does it give spoilers? No? No, no, no at all? Okay,
- 4:36Speaker 1: goo good good. I thought it was just kind of funny. Okay,
- 4:39Speaker 1: I'll bleed whatever color he tells me to. Oh my god. Okay,
- 4:44Speaker 1: so Dorian's got fair. What do we think of Dorian? Yummy?
- 4:48Speaker 1: What guys, this guy's genuinely red flag territory. Hold the
- 4:54Speaker 1: faith boys go on a journey. See what you think
- 4:56Speaker 1: of him in the final book, so I'll see you sing.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So I've got to hate him for the whole series
- 5:02Speaker 1: and then just start liking him. Yeah, I actually sympathized
- 5:05Speaker 1: with him. He's actually a lovely guy, and I felt
- 5:08Speaker 1: a little bit sorry for him. That's kind of what
- 5:10Speaker 1: I was saying. Yeah, yeah, Slenda didn't give him a chance. True, true,
- 5:15Speaker 1: like she doesn't like she didn't even she had this
- 5:20Speaker 1: reason for not giving him a chance. But it's also
- 5:22Speaker 1: like that really like you just don't want to be
- 5:28Speaker 1: with him type of thing, you know? Oy, oh this one?
- 5:31Speaker 1: What do we think of Dorian? Little emo kid in
- 5:34Speaker 1: the beginning, daddy Dorian by the end?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Okay, shit brokay, okay, I'm gonna lie second book boyfriend
- 5:46Speaker 3: behind Cassie and what for ree, We're gonna just.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Love heart emogi love heart emogy ice emerji ice emoji
- 5:54Speaker 1: sweat emogic kiss kiss kiss, blush emoji, mirror emoji bird.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Wizard's going to get some cool powers. I can feel
- 6:01Speaker 1: you're going to get hectic powers. Yeah, capital's l O
- 6:06Speaker 1: v E. Wait, not a single person has disliked him yet.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Now there's been. So there's there's one that says mid yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 1: one that says lame, Yeah, one said hottie. Okay, not
- 6:21Speaker 1: too many, No, that's all. There's only two bad ones.
- 6:24Speaker 1: So yeah, I've clipped. Actually, i'll send it to you
- 6:29Speaker 1: after this. You'll post it next week. It was you
- 6:32Speaker 1: going on a round about Dorian and I reckon a
- 6:34Speaker 1: lot of people will comment because you said, like where
- 6:36Speaker 1: I am in the book doesn't make sense? Why are
- 6:38Speaker 1: you giving me so much shit? Yeah, but everyone seems
- 6:41Speaker 1: to be like, yeah, he's this good anyway. They're giving
- 6:43Speaker 1: him the benefit of debt for some reason, but there's
- 6:45Speaker 1: nothing to give him the benefit of doubt and actions speak
- 6:46Speaker 1: loud in words, that's what That's what I think.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I'm thinking, Like, if everyone loved him from the beginning,
- 6:50Speaker 2: then I'm sorry, but everyone's fucked.
- 6:57Speaker 1: First. You can't love that motherfucker the beginning. He is
- 7:00Speaker 1: straight up a spoiled prince. Yeah, well, that's what. Yeah,
- 7:05Speaker 1: and he acts like prince. He does act like it.
- 7:08Speaker 1: But I said something funny in one of the last episodes,
- 7:11Speaker 1: and it was like he's only just developing his frontal
- 7:15Speaker 1: albe and he's still figuring it out. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 7:19Speaker 1: nineteen especially, yeah, like nineteen or twenty or some shit. Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 1: I mean trigued to see just like the little mention
- 7:25Speaker 1: of him in this book. Anyway, same, okay, but before
- 7:27Speaker 1: we move on, we're we move on.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I just want to put out there that I am
- 7:31Speaker 2: actually going to be I think I predicted that this
- 7:33Speaker 2: is going to happen, but I don't know if I
- 7:35Speaker 2: said anything after it. I said, I am going to
- 7:37Speaker 2: be so upset if him and Alan get married and
- 7:41Speaker 2: end up together.
- 7:42Speaker 1: You haven't said that.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I could have sworn I said it as a prediction,
- 7:45Speaker 2: like I think that they are gonna end up combining
- 7:50Speaker 2: the kingdoms or some shit like uniting the kingdoms.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, maybe.
- 7:56Speaker 2: And I just want to say that I'm going to
- 7:58Speaker 2: be livid if that happens and he does it.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But no, I would be pretty livid.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Historian gives me the type of vibe that like he
- 8:07Speaker 2: you know, he's like, oh, I've let her go, like
- 8:11Speaker 2: Kale and her thing, blah blah blah blah blah, Kale's
- 8:15Speaker 2: my best friend, yadda, YadA YadA.
- 8:17Speaker 1: But like if Selena said to Dorian like maybe I want.
- 8:21Speaker 2: This, he'd throw every single fucking belief he has out
- 8:24Speaker 2: the door and he take her.
- 8:25Speaker 1: He would, he would, he would would. And why do
- 8:28Speaker 1: you guys sympathize with this motherfucker? That's what I'm trying
- 8:31Speaker 1: to get at. It must be the next book. It
- 8:34Speaker 1: must be like they're saying, this is the last book.
- 8:36Speaker 1: What are you talking? This guy must have the sickest
- 8:39Speaker 1: arc in the last If it's the last book, I
- 8:41Speaker 1: feel like they would be on your side though, Like
- 8:43Speaker 1: you know how we all hated Tamlin and everyone kept
- 8:45Speaker 1: their mouth shut. They were like yeah, valid, granted, yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 1: Like no, we loved it. We did the opposite where around. Sorry,
- 8:51Speaker 1: actually that won't I take that back. We loved him
- 8:53Speaker 1: at the start, then hated him, but they still kept
- 8:55Speaker 1: their mouth shut for that anyway, Exactly, they kept their
- 8:57Speaker 1: mouth shut when we loved him. We're like Tamon's hectic
- 8:59Speaker 1: blah blah, And no one even said like just you wait,
- 9:02Speaker 1: just you wait, yeah, but everyone's like, just you wait
- 9:04Speaker 1: about door and you must have a good character arc anyway, guys,
- 9:07Speaker 1: just do the summary or the recap.
- 9:13Speaker 2: We're recapping every chapter, thoughts and theories to every blond
- 9:18Speaker 2: Twist will break it down for you.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Okay. Chapter one, I like how they restart the chapters,
- 9:26Speaker 1: so I was surprised by that. I like that thoroughly.
- 9:29Speaker 2: In surprise chapter one, at a rundown in in the
- 9:32Speaker 2: port town of Innish bar Made, Irene Towers is captivated
- 9:36Speaker 2: by a mysterious hooded stranger who turns out to be
- 9:38Speaker 2: Selena so Sardothian, the Empire's most feared teenage assassin.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Selena is stranded.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Here, has punishment for her master from her master for
- 9:47Speaker 2: sabotaging a slave trade deal, waiting for a ship while
- 9:50Speaker 2: you bruised, furious and bored. She's been fixed picking fights
- 9:54Speaker 2: just to cope, and with another long night ahead, she's
- 9:57Speaker 2: itching to start one.
- 9:59Speaker 1: So we've find out.
- 10:00Speaker 2: She gets bumped by Arab in a yeah, good pumped.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Chapter two.
- 10:06Speaker 2: As last Call approaches, Irene notices the tavern's atmosphere turns
- 10:10Speaker 2: predatory thieves are circling the hooded stranger. Tonight sorry to stranger,
- 10:15Speaker 2: tonight being their last chance before she says sail at dawn.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Irene wants to warn her, but can't risk losing her job.
- 10:21Speaker 2: After closing, Irene takes out the rubbish alone and is
- 10:24Speaker 2: ambushed by four mercenaries demanding her tips. Just as one
- 10:28Speaker 2: holds a blade to her throat, figures emerged from the mist,
- 10:31Speaker 2: silently taking the men down by one, one by one.
- 10:35Speaker 2: It's the hooded stranger. Dagger's drawn and blades already bloody.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Chapter three, Selena dispatches the mercenaries in the alley with
- 10:43Speaker 2: with brutal efficiency. It's over before it really starts. She
- 10:46Speaker 2: hadn't planned to save Irene. She'd simply followed the men
- 10:48Speaker 2: looking for a fight. When Irene begs her not to
- 10:52Speaker 2: kill her, Selene just laughs it off. Selena, sorry, just
- 10:55Speaker 2: laughs it off. But she took a cut to the
- 10:57Speaker 2: arm in the process, and when Irene insists on clear
- 11:00Speaker 2: something about the girl's quiet composure after nearly falling apart
- 11:03Speaker 2: intrigues Selena enough to let her. Chapter four, Irene tends
- 11:12Speaker 2: Selena's wound and the two have a surprisingly frank exchange.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Irene admits she's been stranded here on her way to
- 11:19Speaker 2: a healer's academy, too afraid to leave. Selena has little
- 11:23Speaker 2: patience for that and tells her bluntly to stop rotting
- 11:26Speaker 2: in this town and go pursue her dream. Then, almost
- 11:31Speaker 2: against her own instincts, she takes Irene into the alley
- 11:34Speaker 2: and spends the rest of the night teaching her basic
- 11:36Speaker 2: self defense moves.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Just as Irene tries to thank her.
- 11:39Speaker 2: More men close in and Selena draws her sword. Chapter five,
- 11:43Speaker 2: the escaped mercenary returns with reinforcements. While Selena fights him
- 11:48Speaker 2: in the alley, A sixth man seeks sneaks through the
- 11:51Speaker 2: inn and grabs Irene with a blade to her throat,
- 11:53Speaker 2: using her as leverage. Selena refuses to drop her weapons
- 11:56Speaker 2: and eyes silently, and her eyes silently dare Irene to
- 12:00Speaker 2: fight back, summoning everything she summoning everything she was just taught.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Irene stomps and elbows and breaks free. She does it.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Selena finishes the rest, then coolly tells Irene it was
- 12:11Speaker 2: a controlled environment, a live test. Irene is furious, shaking
- 12:15Speaker 2: and promptly vomits.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Chapter six.
- 12:18Speaker 2: As dawn breaks, Irene cleans the blood from her clothes
- 12:20Speaker 2: and braces for another wretched day until she finds a
- 12:22Speaker 2: letter pouch, a leather pouch on her bed with a
- 12:25Speaker 2: note for wherever you need to go, and then some
- 12:27Speaker 2: the world needs more healers. Inside is a small fortune
- 12:30Speaker 2: in gold coins, plus Selena's ruby brooch. It's enough to
- 12:35Speaker 2: change everything. An hour later, Irene walks out of the
- 12:37Speaker 2: White Pig and never looks back. The White Pig was
- 12:40Speaker 2: the inn. I don't know if that was said in
- 12:41Speaker 2: the beginning. Meanwhile, Selena boards her ship, finally at peace,
- 12:44Speaker 2: quietly hoping the healer she just freed will one day
- 12:47Speaker 2: return to mend a broken world. Whoo told you this
- 12:53Speaker 2: shit was happening.
- 12:54Speaker 1: So Also, one thing that my summary left out was
- 12:58Speaker 1: that Irene comes from a mad good bloodline. Yes yes, yes, yes,
- 13:01Speaker 1: her mother the reason she so, She's from a different
- 13:05Speaker 1: town a little ways away. She was going to go
- 13:07Speaker 1: to this place where across the ocean, where Ardalande has
- 13:11Speaker 1: not yet reached and probably never will reach. And there's
- 13:15Speaker 1: this really good healer's academy, and her mother was a
- 13:18Speaker 1: magical healer. It was her gift from someone or whatever.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And then her mother got murdered by the Ardoline forces
- 13:25Speaker 1: and so Irene she wants to go become a healer. Yeah,
- 13:30Speaker 1: which is cool. I guess. I gotta say this one
- 13:34Speaker 1: to me was kind of boring. This one was very,
- 13:37Speaker 1: very boring, and I was thinking, like, so Sarah J.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Maass wrote the whole series of throwne Glass went back
- 13:43Speaker 1: and forught, fuck this will be good to add, Like
- 13:49Speaker 1: what's he's the only thing that this will add to
- 13:51Speaker 1: the series?
- 13:52Speaker 2: Right is obviously at some point in like book five,
- 13:58Speaker 2: six or seven or something like that, Irene is going
- 14:02Speaker 2: to come back and we're gonna know who Irene is.
- 14:05Speaker 1: And I guess the only other part is like it's
- 14:07Speaker 1: showing Selene's character that she's always been caring, empathetic and
- 14:14Speaker 1: looked after others huanas even though she's not that fortunate,
- 14:18Speaker 1: she's in a better position than her and anyone else,
- 14:20Speaker 1: and she tries to help, which explains my rebuttals in
- 14:23Speaker 1: the first two books, I guess, but it still doesn't
- 14:26Speaker 1: explain to me that how she's a good assassin.
- 14:28Speaker 2: So, Okay, I was going to say, I almost wanted
- 14:32Speaker 2: to put in the group channel on Instagram, right, I
- 14:36Speaker 2: wanted to ask, like, is the entire series of Throne
- 14:40Speaker 2: of Glass, just like is the entire trope of the series,
- 14:43Speaker 2: just the fact that Selena never wanted to be an assassin,
- 14:48Speaker 2: was forced to be an assassin, and basically just spends.
- 14:52Speaker 1: The whole Are we just learning the whole series? Like
- 14:55Speaker 1: the reason why she's a good person, I don't know,
- 14:59Speaker 1: it must be. But also, like I don't know, I
- 15:01Speaker 1: feel like I'm allowed to be pissed. You're allowed to
- 15:02Speaker 1: be pissed about Dora. And because she got nicked in
- 15:05Speaker 1: a sword fight there, Yeah, she should. She should be
- 15:07Speaker 1: fucking annihilating all of them in like four fucking and
- 15:12Speaker 1: then in the last one she got the bloodbain stabbed
- 15:15Speaker 1: on her and she almost bloody died because she was
- 15:17Speaker 1: whatever blood with a blood blain. One of the potions?
- 15:22Speaker 1: Which book is this? In the office where she found
- 15:27Speaker 1: the letter?
- 15:28Speaker 2: Yeah, she goes and she somehow gets cut by some
- 15:31Speaker 2: fat old fuck Yeah what.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Am I talking about? Oh my? Why should keep getting cut?
- 15:36Speaker 1: She should be like bloody bouncing off the walls and
- 15:39Speaker 1: slitting throats. That's what I think. That's what I'm thinking.
- 15:43Speaker 1: There's two cuts now. I don't know. Maybe I'm unrealistic, yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 1: but I'm hoping there should be a story arc where
- 15:48Speaker 1: like she just trains and she annihilates everyone, assuming all
- 15:52Speaker 1: the men in the training camp when she's a child.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I would like a lot of these stories has to
- 15:58Speaker 1: be that she's done.
- 15:59Speaker 2: She's done some bee stuff, right, but kind of each
- 16:02Speaker 2: time she does something beast she comes out of it.
- 16:04Speaker 1: With an injury. Yeah. What I want, right, is for
- 16:08Speaker 1: just once in the whole Like I kind of understand
- 16:10Speaker 1: why you do that, because like we don't want to
- 16:13Speaker 1: think of her as invincible. I do like I want that,
- 16:16Speaker 1: but like also at the same time, if she was
- 16:18Speaker 1: just invincible, we might be like that's kind of boring,
- 16:21Speaker 1: you know, and so but just once, just once, I
- 16:26Speaker 1: want her to absolutely fucking pump someone that is like
- 16:29Speaker 1: a supposed to be a ba's day. Like the whole
- 16:33Speaker 1: book of Throat of Glass, she talks about how she
- 16:34Speaker 1: could beat Cane if she wants, but then she gets
- 16:36Speaker 1: poisoned at the end so she couldn't do it. So
- 16:39Speaker 1: I'm like, come on, I just want to see you
- 16:40Speaker 1: go up against someone who was supposedly unstoppable and just
- 16:44Speaker 1: pump them just once in the whole series. Just once.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I suppose like when Kale was tied up. She beat
- 16:50Speaker 1: like all the Archer's men. True, there were nobody nobody.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Then yeah, there's gonna be like there's gotta be like
- 16:57Speaker 1: some demon ll like no no. I feel like, kao,
- 17:01Speaker 1: do you reckon not? Kaok? I feel like Kane could
- 17:03Speaker 1: come back to last o A.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't doubt that I reckon Kine's going to
- 17:08Speaker 2: come back. So, because at the end of Crown of Midnight,
- 17:12Speaker 2: we have the King's POV how he has been building
- 17:15Speaker 2: all of his wife urns right, or he's been birthing
- 17:18Speaker 2: wi urns somehow, I don't know, but they're.
- 17:20Speaker 1: All right urns for fourth Wing as well.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but urns are just like a thing, just like
- 17:25Speaker 2: a dragon's a thing. So the King in his monol,
- 17:30Speaker 2: in his inner monologue, is talking about how he's got his.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Wife urns, but they're all riderless. And so I have
- 17:37Speaker 1: a feeling that obviously Nolan was Nolan the cousin, No
- 17:41Speaker 1: Roland Roland Roland is going to be turned into like
- 17:45Speaker 1: a monster by the king and be a writer of
- 17:48Speaker 1: the wi urns. I think Cowtane could be the same.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Yeah, And I have a feeling that we're gonna have
- 17:54Speaker 2: like a big war and all this big old flock
- 17:57Speaker 2: of fucking wiurns with riders.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Are on the right.
- 18:00Speaker 1: They're going to be pretty cool. They're going to be
- 18:02Speaker 1: led by Caine. That would be pretty cool. I think
- 18:04Speaker 1: that's how Caine's going to return it. And the opposite
- 18:07Speaker 1: side will be led by Dorian. Would be pretty sick.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And I have a feeling okay, they'll be led by
- 18:15Speaker 1: Dorian and they'll be dragons instead of Why Burns is
- 18:18Speaker 1: there dragons in this?
- 18:20Speaker 2: I feel like that's just literally fourth Wing. Fourth Wing
- 18:23Speaker 2: came out after so fourth Wing would be copying.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Everyone said not to go on TikTok and look at
- 18:29Speaker 1: like the AI versions or whatever AI animations of throwing
- 18:35Speaker 1: a glass, But I accidentally found one and it was sick.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I reckon, we should do a reaction. Now we've like
- 18:41Speaker 1: read three books.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I've I've accidentally come come across a couple of
- 18:45Speaker 2: things of like the the Glass Palace.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I had I got Selina and was it Dora?
- 18:52Speaker 1: Okay plan Billard's and I underestimated one Selena and also
- 18:59Speaker 1: was it Dori? It was doing Yeah, and I underrest it.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I feel like it helps just because like you've said
- 19:04Speaker 1: it before, like sometimes your imagination just sucks. Yeah, my
- 19:07Speaker 1: imagination sucks because also I'm never going to imagine someone
- 19:10Speaker 1: more attractive than me because I'm selfish. Yeah, and these
- 19:12Speaker 1: AI things always like over exaggerate features like muscles, boobs, faces. Yeah,
- 19:18Speaker 1: it's good and it's fantasy. Yeah, and maybe to be fair,
- 19:25Speaker 1: maybe you've been thinking Dorian isn't that good looking and
- 19:27Speaker 1: all the bad he's in their head to think and
- 19:28Speaker 1: this man's a fucking ten. So yeah, I mean I
- 19:33Speaker 1: was picturing Dorian as like, fuck it, I honestly thought
- 19:35Speaker 1: he was black. Yeah, yeah, you were wrong, there was,
- 19:38Speaker 1: and I was wrong he's white. But also you're allowed
- 19:40Speaker 1: to think whatever you want to think. That's a good point.
- 19:43Speaker 1: It's been hard to picture a white guy now though
- 19:45Speaker 1: I won't lie to you. Yeah, when I'm the same
- 19:48Speaker 1: with that, when you picture one thing in your head, yeah,
- 19:50Speaker 1: it's hard to get rid of that one thought if
- 19:52Speaker 1: you originally started with it. Yeah, and I'm picturing Kale right.
- 19:57Speaker 2: For some reason, every time a character gets brought up
- 20:01Speaker 2: as like someone who's sort of like a rugged but
- 20:05Speaker 2: handsome but this, but that, I don't have a specific
- 20:08Speaker 2: person I picture, but I always have a specific character
- 20:11Speaker 2: I picture on my head, and it's been going along
- 20:13Speaker 2: different books I've noticed. Yeah, So like that series Red
- 20:17Speaker 2: Rising that I read, I pictured the main character of
- 20:20Speaker 2: that is now how I picture Kale. And then I
- 20:24Speaker 2: read this other series called it was a duology, something
- 20:27Speaker 2: about like One Dark Window or something like that, and
- 20:30Speaker 2: the main male character in that I pictured him the
- 20:32Speaker 2: same way I'm picturing Kale as well. I just got
- 20:35Speaker 2: the same character from character. I just don't have an imagination.
- 20:39Speaker 2: I just have one person that's just serious. Series two series.
- 20:42Speaker 1: For Kale, I've got semi Chris Hammsworth vibes. That's Anus,
- 20:46Speaker 1: that's heinous, that's hot. Yeah, I know, I know, I
- 20:50Speaker 1: know that's semi what I'm picturing. I've got the biggest
- 20:53Speaker 1: soft spot for Kale. But I have a feeling he's
- 20:56Speaker 1: just going to be this righteous, loyalist guy. I do too,
- 20:59Speaker 1: and I think you predicted it. I think he will
- 21:01Speaker 1: just like kind of peter out. Someone commented Kale reminds
- 21:06Speaker 1: him of Dane from Fourth Wing. Oh yeah, he does,
- 21:10Speaker 1: a bit, just a bit jarring. There was a comment
- 21:14Speaker 1: on the Patreon high group chat that I thought you
- 21:17Speaker 1: especially could help with So Sannie I think her name
- 21:21Speaker 1: was Sorry if I pronounced that wrong, said this is
- 21:23Speaker 1: from the last book, but I thought we could recap
- 21:25Speaker 1: it because I struggled at the same point. Okay, so
- 21:28Speaker 1: I'm still on chapter forty three, just discovering the library catacombs.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I am confused about how the library connects to Elaine
- 21:35Speaker 1: or Elena. Except for the fact that Selena found these catacombs,
- 21:39Speaker 1: there have been no signs of any sort of clue
- 21:41Speaker 1: that made her her thing that or the library dungeons
- 21:45Speaker 1: have the answer. Am I missing something aside from the
- 21:48Speaker 1: hooded black figure that caused her to explode? Sorry, they
- 21:53Speaker 1: caused her to explore, Yes, but there was no other reason. Really,
- 21:57Speaker 1: No one told her it's a library where you'll find answers,
- 21:59Speaker 1: no spoilers.
- 22:00Speaker 2: But so she there's the one night, right, So one
- 22:08Speaker 2: night she goes to go to the library because she
- 22:09Speaker 2: can't sleep, and that's when she sees the like figure
- 22:12Speaker 2: that she can feel in her bones is not human,
- 22:15Speaker 2: and then she walks away and she's like terrified. And
- 22:18Speaker 2: so then there's part of her that's like God, like,
- 22:22Speaker 2: I need to figure out what that thing is, right,
- 22:25Speaker 2: And then there is. This isn't like really a spoiler.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I'm sure of that there.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Is a either. I think there's either.
- 22:38Speaker 2: That is the only reason, right, So she needed answers
- 22:42Speaker 2: for something, and Elena like steered her in the direction
- 22:47Speaker 2: that that thing she confirms it's not human. Yeah, I
- 22:53Speaker 2: for some reason I remember that, like she confirms it's
- 22:55Speaker 2: not human, and then she's like, oh, I need to
- 22:58Speaker 2: go just like see where it would hide, because like
- 23:02Speaker 2: where would I hide if I was it? And she's like, oh,
- 23:07Speaker 2: I've been told before that there's like a secret library
- 23:09Speaker 2: under the library that no one knows about, so I'd
- 23:12Speaker 2: probably hide there. That's where I would hide. So I
- 23:14Speaker 2: don't know if it was just like an easy answer
- 23:15Speaker 2: to start a storyline. But I mean, in my opinion,
- 23:22Speaker 2: just like the fact that Elena's given her this whole
- 23:24Speaker 2: task of finding the evil in the castle, I feel
- 23:28Speaker 2: like that's good enough.
- 23:29Speaker 1: That connects it. I do agree, that's all I was thinking.
- 23:31Speaker 1: But I did struggle there to like connect the dots.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It was very hop skipping a jump. But I feel
- 23:36Speaker 1: like maybe it's one of those ones where like it
- 23:39Speaker 1: is what it is, it doesn't have to be there
- 23:41Speaker 1: doesn't have to be a war. I don't know.
- 23:43Speaker 2: So the only reason I can think of is literally
- 23:46Speaker 2: the reason that that baddie commented, Yeah, just like wanting
- 23:49Speaker 2: to know what it is.
- 23:51Speaker 1: But I don't know if I'm creating this memory.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I have a feeling that Elena does steer in the
- 23:56Speaker 2: direction of going to find it.
- 23:57Speaker 1: No, I feel like you weren't, you know, I feel
- 23:58Speaker 1: like there was something that happened.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I could have sworn there was something that happened,
- 24:01Speaker 2: but I don't know how. I don't know if it's
- 24:03Speaker 2: like linked to Elena or if Elena is just like, yeah,
- 24:06Speaker 2: you gotta find that fucking thing and kill it type
- 24:07Speaker 2: shit true true true.
- 24:09Speaker 1: What are we going to talk about now?
- 24:10Speaker 2: Predictions?
- 24:11Speaker 1: Predictions? Yeah, predictions are hard with this because like we
- 24:15Speaker 1: should start doing the podcast novelas what do you mean
- 24:20Speaker 1: we're doing one right now? No? No, no, no, like
- 24:22Speaker 1: with our episodes, not reading books, So like you know,
- 24:25Speaker 1: main episodes every once in a while, we should do
- 24:27Speaker 1: like a little like three part series where nothing happens.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not a bad idea.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So we have a couple of big, big hitters,
- 24:44Speaker 1: A couple of big hitters go in there, you'll just
- 24:47Speaker 1: tell like the random a story about like when you're
- 24:49Speaker 1: like fifteen, and it'll go for ten minutes. Can I
- 24:52Speaker 1: actually just say something that is not the worst idea
- 24:55Speaker 1: you've ever had, that is actually probably up there with
- 24:57Speaker 1: like a half decent idea, because I was just going
- 24:59Speaker 1: to say it seems to me the reason that writers
- 25:02Speaker 1: have anything, like the reason why they have a novella
- 25:06Speaker 1: in the first place in a series is for this
- 25:09Speaker 1: because like at least Surgey mass in so in Akatar,
- 25:15Speaker 1: the fourth book is a novella, and the it's almost
- 25:19Speaker 1: like she didn't want to finish this series because she
- 25:22Speaker 1: had more characters she wanted to hit and they have
- 25:25Speaker 1: stories about so she needed to like end Farra and Reese,
- 25:29Speaker 1: and she ended Farah and Reese's story in book three right,
- 25:33Speaker 1: and then in book four it was kind.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Of like a look, we won, We're happy, but like
- 25:40Speaker 2: there's some unanswered questions. So this is just a setup
- 25:42Speaker 2: for almost like another full series within this series type
- 25:46Speaker 2: of shue. And so she's also sort of I guess
- 25:49Speaker 2: in this instance there's a novella because it's like, oh,
- 25:53Speaker 2: there's so many unanswered questions about Selena because I literally
- 25:56Speaker 2: just started a series by saying she's the best assassin
- 25:59Speaker 2: that ever lived and no one and she hasn't done.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Those I guess it adds depth to the characters too,
- 26:05Speaker 1: and if we hid it on the pod, it'd add
- 26:07Speaker 1: depth to us. Who else? Yeah? True? Actually right? Yeah,
- 26:10Speaker 1: go on. So, so say someone had only been listening
- 26:13Speaker 1: to us for a month and they obviously know who
- 26:15Speaker 1: Jake and Audi are, but they don't really know who
- 26:17Speaker 1: are because we've already told all of our stories from
- 26:19Speaker 1: when we were like younger in the first ten episodes, yeah,
- 26:22Speaker 1: up to like episode three hundred. Then we go back
- 26:24Speaker 1: and go, yeah, so Jake Craig moved to fucking Australia
- 26:27Speaker 1: when it was fucking blah blah blah, I had massive cabs,
- 26:29Speaker 1: my first girlfriend break up blah blah blah blah, and
- 26:32Speaker 1: then like the next one's me, And then we can
- 26:34Speaker 1: do something about our family if.
- 26:36Speaker 2: It's not honestly a very bad idea, Like every now
- 26:38Speaker 2: and then, what we should do is we should do
- 26:42Speaker 2: like a Q and A for all the new listeners.
- 26:44Speaker 2: And so it's like every every tenth episode, we you
- 26:47Speaker 2: a Q and A for new listeners, and we post
- 26:48Speaker 2: it and it's like old listeners might get some new
- 26:50Speaker 2: questions they get to hear about, or it's like they
- 26:53Speaker 2: would just follow along knowing all the answers, or.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I will say, I'll give ourselves credit. I think our
- 26:59Speaker 1: podcast is very involving, hopefully. It's not like I've listened
- 27:04Speaker 1: to a lot of pods and it's like I have
- 27:06Speaker 1: no idea who the fuck you're talking about, And it's
- 27:09Speaker 1: like it's it's like a friendship group and you're on
- 27:11Speaker 1: the outskirts, whereas we I feel like a good at
- 27:13Speaker 1: giving context, which we struggle a little bit sometimes, but
- 27:15Speaker 1: we're also good at involving someone to be part of
- 27:17Speaker 1: the conversation. Have friends, yeah, true, exactly, we're wanting more
- 27:24Speaker 1: friends and purpose exactly they're all friends. But all right,
- 27:31Speaker 1: predictions do you have anything new? Lots of fearless predictions
- 27:36Speaker 1: to one of the fictional men, like we always do
- 27:42Speaker 1: you feed and streaming again, this is the Relatables book work.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Let the Throw and the Dogs begin. M not really.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Apart from honestly not really at all.
- 28:02Speaker 3: I know.
- 28:02Speaker 1: So the next one is like where Selena is going
- 28:05Speaker 1: right now is to train with the mute Assassins and
- 28:11Speaker 1: they are in the desert, and.
- 28:12Speaker 2: So I feel like she's gonna become stronger, quicker, better assassin,
- 28:18Speaker 2: and she's going to train hard. But I think what
- 28:21Speaker 2: all these novellas are alluding to is that Arabin is
- 28:25Speaker 2: the reason she's in.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Endovia, Okay, and I'm with her.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Ah.
- 28:30Speaker 1: My only prediction that I want to predict something about
- 28:33Speaker 1: is her and Sam's relationship. Yeah. How how do they
- 28:41Speaker 1: fall in love but don't have sex? That's what I
- 28:43Speaker 1: want to know, because right now it seems like Selena
- 28:48Speaker 1: doesn't really like Sam. Yeah. I think Sam gets really
- 28:52Speaker 1: good at being an assassin and it gets almost equivalent
- 28:55Speaker 1: to Selena and she goes, you know what, fuck, he
- 28:57Speaker 1: got something about you, Sam, and they start to teach
- 28:59Speaker 1: it other things. I reckon that the other way around.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well you disagree. I think that Sam once
- 29:11Speaker 1: out out of the assassins.
- 29:13Speaker 2: And I think Selena falls in love with Sam's personality,
- 29:18Speaker 2: his character just like what I said, yes better, And
- 29:24Speaker 2: I think that they don't maybe they kiss once, Like
- 29:27Speaker 2: I think that she just realized it's gonna be one
- 29:30Speaker 2: of those moments where she's realized, like, oh, it's just
- 29:32Speaker 2: always been Sam, even when I hated him, I loved
- 29:34Speaker 2: him type thing, like I just didn't know what that
- 29:36Speaker 2: feeling was. And and then they're gonna kiss once in
- 29:39Speaker 2: their life and then Sam's gonna die and she's just
- 29:41Speaker 2: gonna be like, you long to have got away?
- 29:43Speaker 1: Sam died blah blah blah. It's classic young love, where
- 29:46Speaker 1: like you give each other ship because you can't tell
- 29:49Speaker 1: each other how you feel. You don't know how to
- 29:51Speaker 1: arpeculate it. Yeah, you just banter and you're like, fucking
- 29:54Speaker 1: el Sam, You're an assassin, I can kill better. You're yeah, yeah, no, yeah,
- 30:04Speaker 1: I think that's better than what I said for sure. Okay,
- 30:08Speaker 1: that is.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Let's hope that the next novella is well, the next
- 30:12Speaker 2: part of this novella is better.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Well Desert it's gonna have something to do
- 30:19Speaker 1: with dry and running out of water hopefully.
- 30:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:22Speaker 2: And she's like she's made a point of letting us
- 30:24Speaker 2: know that she's got to like make sure her money
- 30:26Speaker 2: lasts now because she gave.
- 30:27Speaker 4: It all to w Irene, Like yeah, yeah, yeah, all right,
- 30:33Speaker 4: So next book is part three or what was the
- 30:37Speaker 4: name of it, something Desert, The Assassin and the Desert.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Yeah, the Assassin and the desert, and it's like fifteen
- 30:43Speaker 1: or sixteen chapters, isn't it. Yeah, so it'd be a
- 30:45Speaker 1: bit longer. It'll be good, yeah, perfect, all right, We
- 30:47Speaker 1: love you. Stay bad.
