- 0:00Welcome to World View Matters, discussing controversial issues, discerning current events,
- 0:10defending biblical Christianity.
- 0:13No topic, off limits.
- 0:16And now, here's your host, David Fierazzo.
- 0:19Hey, friends.
- 0:20Thanks for watching.
- 0:21Thanks for tuning in and for sharing the podcast again today.
- 0:24We've got Dr. J.B. Hicks and back with us.
- 0:27We're going to be talking about his book, Spirit of the False Profit, Rise of the Global
- 0:32Technocracy.
- 0:34And we're also going to be talking about a balanced approach to preparing for the future,
- 0:42preparing for the unknown as Christians.
- 0:44What does that look like?
- 0:46So I want to bring in J.B. Hicks and pastor of Plum Creek Chapel in Sidelia, Colorado.
- 0:52And you can get his books at notbyworks.org.
- 0:54J.B., good to see you again.
- 0:56Welcome back.
- 0:57Hey, David.
- 0:58How you been, man?
- 0:59This is this is always a highlight of my month when I get to talk with you.
- 1:02Oh, come on.
- 1:03Stop.
- 1:04Don't.
- 1:05All right.
- 1:06So I really appreciate your writing.
- 1:10I don't know how you do it, especially with this three volume set, the series, Spirit of
- 1:14the Antichrist, and now Spirit of the False Profit.
- 1:17There's so much in there, J.B., but I have to be honest with you.
- 1:22When I got to the chapter, I believe it was what chapter is this, chapter nine, on escaping
- 1:29the prison planet, it is potentially overwhelming because you have such wonderful and thorough information
- 1:38on what Christians can prepare for and what we might be able to do and get, you know,
- 1:45purchase things we can have at our home for crises, natural disasters, things like that.
- 1:50But with all that's going on, there's a lot to think about.
- 1:54And I had to step back and go, okay, I ultimately trust the Lord.
- 1:58And that's where we have to fight any fear of the unknown, fear of the future.
- 2:03And I would love, before we get into that chapter in some of the practical steps and
- 2:06practical things that you laid out and listed, could you please speak to that as Christians,
- 2:11how we trust a known God with an unknown future.
- 2:17And he's sovereign over all things, so please share and edify our audience, please.
- 2:22Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:23You said it exactly right.
- 2:24Fear is not of the Lord.
- 2:25We're never to be scared, but we are to be prepared.
- 2:28But it's a matter of walking by faith.
- 2:30So above all else, we walk by faith.
- 2:34We walk by faith, not by sight.
- 2:35We trust the Lord.
- 2:36We know that whatever happens, even if humanly speaking, it seems discouraging.
- 2:41God can bring beautiful things out of the broken things.
- 2:45And he is never forsaken the righteous.
- 2:48And over and over again, we see the call and scripture for believers to trust the Lord.
- 2:54Psalms is a great place to go.
- 2:56So we don't look at our circumstances, which may seem difficult.
- 3:00We look at the Lord and we know that he's got a plan that he's working out in the big
- 3:04picture.
- 3:05And we also need to be reminded that our life on Earth is just a speck on the timeline
- 3:08of eternity.
- 3:09So sometimes we become consumed with and overwhelmed by and anxious by day to day affairs.
- 3:16We need to step back and remember God's got this, God's in control.
- 3:20Now having said that, the point that we make in the book is that faith in God and preparedness
- 3:26are not mutually exclusive.
- 3:28In fact, they're both taught in scripture.
- 3:31The Christian is commanded, Proverbs 22, 3, to if he sees trouble coming, prepare for
- 3:37it.
- 3:38The wise man sees trouble coming and prepares for it.
- 3:40So we don't want to presume upon our faith and just say, well, you know, I don't have
- 3:44to do anything.
- 3:45God's going to take care of it.
- 3:47You know, I don't have to brush my teeth every morning.
- 3:49If God wants me to have a cavity, I'll have a cavity.
- 3:51And I don't have to wear my seat belt.
- 3:53If God wants me to die, I'm going to die.
- 3:54I mean, that's a, you know, that's sort of a wrong fatalistic attitude.
- 4:00So the Bible teaches both trust in God, prevailing over everything.
- 4:04And yet taking a practical steps to do what make wise decisions.
- 4:10And now more than ever, and that's the reason we put that at the end of this last book,
- 4:14believers need to recognize that we are entering uncharted territory on earth.
- 4:19And we need to be prepared to fulfill our duty as believers, which means providing for
- 4:24our family, providing for our spouse, making a difference in this world, sharing the gospel,
- 4:30fighting the fight, if you will, until either the rapture happens or the Lord calls us home.
- 4:37There are so many things in there, and what you just said, and thank you for just really
- 4:41encouraging people to maintain a proper balance.
- 4:44But this is also an opportunity with what we've seen, especially since 2020 with COVID
- 4:50and the government power grabs and the global, a push for globalism and all that.
- 4:55We've seen, we've seen opportunities for people, Christians to really go back to their
- 5:00foundation of faith, make sure you're built on the rock and not shifting sand.
- 5:05And just say, all right, this is happening, God's not surprised.
- 5:09And I think the church, JB, I think the church needs to respond in ways that people outside
- 5:16of church walls Monday through Saturday can see that we are not shaken by world events,
- 5:24by demonic agendas and by all the things that could happen to us here in America.
- 5:31So your thoughts on that?
- 5:32Yeah, I mean, I think that idea of steadfast faith, even in the midst of preparing for
- 5:38what may come, is very important.
- 5:41We want to do it with a confidence, not nervous, not overwhelmed, and I'll speak to that
- 5:46here in a moment.
- 5:47But just with our heads held high, saying, you know what, God's got this.
- 5:51But I'm going to take the practical steps that are necessary to prepare for whatever
- 5:56may happen, whether that's financially, whether that's in terms of food, protection, shelter,
- 6:00those types of things.
- 6:02And so, yeah, the church has really fallen down on the job there.
- 6:06And especially pastors, I mean, it's like the 1930s all over again, the world is really
- 6:11falling apart.
- 6:12And what better place than the pulpits across America for God's pastors and Bible believing
- 6:19pastors to be proclaiming the truth and helping the body of Christ walk through these uncharted
- 6:27territories.
- 6:28And sadly, many pastors are not doing that, but they're mocking those who are, which is
- 6:33a sign of the times in and of itself.
- 6:35Yes.
- 6:36And we've talked about this so much on previous shows with you how the saints are not being
- 6:41equipped.
- 6:42But this is a little different.
- 6:44This is not just the spiritual battle.
- 6:46And now we're talking about what might happen with our own government, with the power,
- 6:51with electricity, with attacks from within.
- 6:56And we're not even talking about the globalists, we look at the southern border and look
- 7:00at what the government is allowing to happen.
- 7:02So JB, I want to jump right ahead to something in the chapter that you have called three responses
- 7:07to major crises and building a preparedness stockpile.
- 7:12So we're talking about chapter nine friends in JB's book, Spirit of the False Prophet.
- 7:18And if you go to the list of items that you could purchase and you could have at home
- 7:23and you could start gathering, it can be somewhat daunting.
- 7:27But these things need to be talked about and then do what you can afford, do what is
- 7:32in your control.
- 7:33There's no reason to worry or to freak out about any of this, but let's keep a balanced
- 7:40approach.
- 7:41My heart for this is for JB to communicate this approach and for to help equip you and
- 7:46encourage you what you need to do, what you need to be watching for.
- 7:50And always with that faith in God.
- 7:52So JB, the three responses, hunker down, head out or hole up.
- 7:59Could you take us into detail on those?
- 8:02Yeah, you bet.
- 8:02So first of all, let me say, you know, we encourage folks to get the book if they can,
- 8:07obviously, but this particular chapter comes from a free NBW Preparedness Guide that's
- 8:14available free on our website.
- 8:15It's 12 pages.
- 8:17That's incorporated into this chapter.
- 8:19So, you know, at the very least, even if you can't buy the book, pick up that free guide.
- 8:24Just go to notbyworks.org on the online store in the free section.
- 8:29There's a bunch of free stuff, one of the things, one of those is the NBW Preparedness
- 8:33Guide.
- 8:35But yeah, there are three primary responses and we go through in the chapter, you know,
- 8:41the different scenarios to consider what might happen.
- 8:44And you know, to begin with, as you mentioned, it can be daunting, but don't be overwhelmed.
- 8:49Do what you can.
- 8:50And when it comes to preparedness, one size doesn't fit all.
- 8:53I mean, the person living in a major metropolitan area and a traditional suburb or even downtown
- 8:59is going to have different needs than someone that lives out in the country or in a rural
- 9:03area.
- 9:04A number of kids that you have in your family, your own age, how mobile you are, all of
- 9:10these factors weigh in.
- 9:12So we're trying here, at least for today's show, to try to keep it in terms of the principles
- 9:17or the conceptual idea.
- 9:18So hunker down is the first of three kind of categories to consider or responses to consider.
- 9:25And this is what happens when something happens that basically causes you to stay at home
- 9:33for a while.
- 9:34Maybe there's been a natural disaster.
- 9:36Maybe there's been a terrorist attack.
- 9:38There's some type of crisis where maybe there's power outages.
- 9:43It disrupts the normal routine.
- 9:45Stores and roads might be closed.
- 9:47There could be civil unrest in certain regions that make it dangerous to leave your home.
- 9:53So in this case, it's assumed that there's no imminent threat of danger to your life
- 9:59in your home right where you are.
- 10:01Like for example, if there was a forest fire, we have to deal with those in Colorado.
- 10:04I mean, you might have to leave.
- 10:06But in this first scenario or assuming you can stay put, so you need to ask yourself,
- 10:11if I had to stay at home for six months, only maybe stepping outside a few times today
- 10:17to get some sun or just you had to stay on your property for six months, could you survive?
- 10:22If you couldn't go to the store, you couldn't go to Walmart, you couldn't get Amazon deliveries,
- 10:27what would you do?
- 10:28So you need to think through food, water source, protection, just in case some mean-spirited
- 10:36person comes with bad intentions to your door and shelter.
- 10:40That means heat source if you're in a cold climate, air conditioning and fans and stuff
- 10:46if you're in a hot climate.
- 10:48So you need to think through those things and we give you a list of suggested supplies.
- 10:52Again, don't be overwhelmed.
- 10:55We trust the Lord.
- 10:56But if you do, if you start taking the first steps in your hearts right before the Lord,
- 11:02he'll honor that.
- 11:03So maybe every time you go to the store, nick up an extra thing of peanut butter or five
- 11:08pound bag of beans or rice or those types of things, just start checking stuff off your
- 11:13list.
- 11:14You can't do everything, but you can do something.
- 11:16Yeah, things that have a long shelf life, so to speak, or that have long expiration.
- 11:22Good points, JB.
- 11:23So that's if you can hunker down, but what about heading out?
- 11:27Now heading out, this is where if staying puts not safe for whatever reason your life or
- 11:32home might be in danger.
- 11:34So you have to have a well-equipped and carefully thought out a bug out bag, meaning if you had
- 11:43to leave, could you gather the things that you need that are crucial and be on the road
- 11:48in 30 minutes?
- 11:50So you need to maybe have two sets of supplies, one that's in your main supplier, if you
- 11:55had to hunker down, but another one that's already pre-stocked that you could grab on
- 12:00your way out in a crisis where you have to flee.
- 12:04Maybe it's a hurricane or a fire or some other danger could be, I mean, it's not beyond
- 12:11the wrong possibility.
- 12:12We could have some kind of a nuclear attack, and depending on which way the wind is blowing,
- 12:16you might have to deal with the fallout.
- 12:18But whatever the cause, if you're caught off guard, you're not getting out because you're
- 12:24going to be stuck in traffic, everybody's going to be panicked.
- 12:28It's the people that are prepared and are ready ahead of time and can get on the road ahead
- 12:32of everybody else that are going to be well-suited.
- 12:35So think through a rendezvous point if you've got a big family like we do, we would talk
- 12:41through these plans with our kids.
- 12:43By the way, this whole preparedness guide in this chapter emanated from our own family
- 12:48plans over the last 20 years.
- 12:49So we would have movies with our kids and talk about this, hey, if something happens
- 12:55and you get a code word from us on your text, you know where to meet.
- 13:00Just go straight there, don't come home, we'll meet you there.
- 13:03So we talk about all this in the chapter, but think through what you need to do if you
- 13:07have to head out.
- 13:08Man, you've been on top of this for years, JB, you're ahead of the curve.
- 13:12You've got to take a brief break.
- 13:13I also saw earlier this month you did a show with Curtis Chamberlain on fear, food, firearms
- 13:19and freedom.
- 13:20And I'm sure part of the conversation was what we're talking about, but we'll be right
- 13:23back with JB Hickson on World View Matters.
- 13:27Today's show is brought to you by Harbinger's Daily.
- 13:31World News Biblically Understood.

- 13:42JB Hickson is our guest today.
- 13:47First friends, if you are listening to our show via audio podcast, you can help us out
- 13:52by leaving a five star review that helps the show rise and the rankings.
- 13:57You can also, of course, subscribe and you can go to worldviewmatters.tv and get our
- 14:01podcast recap every week.
- 14:03If you're interested in sponsoring the show or you know someone who might be, you can
- 14:07send us an email from our website, go to worldviewmatters.tv and you can talk to our producer
- 14:13about that.
- 14:14So JB Hickson is our guest today.
- 14:16Now we're talking about preparedness and keeping the faith regardless of the level of crisis.
- 14:22Again, on their website, not by works.org, there's a free preparedness guide.
- 14:27But JB, now we're on number three and that is whole up.
- 14:32Explain to us what that's all about.
- 14:34Yeah, so we said, hunker down, you know, there's something that's going on and you just need
- 14:38to kind of be at home for a while and make sure you've got supplies for that.
- 14:42We've got the head out option.
- 14:44But the third option is the most severe and clearly the most unlikely, but it's worth
- 14:50at least thinking through.
- 14:52Because if something sort of an end of the world as we know it, scenario, were to happen,
- 14:57there is going to be a group of people that are at ground zero, so to speak.
- 15:01And so if that ends up being you, you want to think about the whole up scenario and what
- 15:06that means is not only is the area around your home not safe, but you're, you're being
- 15:12pursued in a sense, maybe there's bad guys out there rounding you up, maybe, you know,
- 15:19and this has happened.
- 15:20This has happened in Nazi Germany, this happened in other places throughout the world.
- 15:23If you had to flee to a secure place and lay low for a while, could you do it?
- 15:29So this is the time now when everything is not falling apart.
- 15:34We're not in the midst of a crisis to think through this area.
- 15:38Are there remote wooded areas where you can camp?
- 15:41We've got, we're not campers, but we've got a nice intent and all the requisite supplies,
- 15:46the little propane things.
- 15:48We've got all of that in our preparedness stash.
- 15:51And if we had to go somewhere where we could be safe for a while until we figured out
- 15:57the dust settles and what's going on, we could do it.
- 15:59Now we happen to live in Colorado.
- 16:01So we've got unlimited mountains and forests and things around us.
- 16:06But is there a private land somewhere, maybe friends relatives that have a bug out place
- 16:12that you could go and, and of course, in a scenario where you're having to hold up,
- 16:17you're going to want to think through all of the ways, you know, to stay off the grid.
- 16:21So you're going to want to leave your phones behind.
- 16:23You're going to, or put them in a, you know, some type of a protective case where they
- 16:26can't be seen or accessed from remotely.
- 16:31But you're going to want to think through all these scenarios.
- 16:33But again, it's about survival.
- 16:35And we've become very accustomed and spoiled in America to not be to deal with these things.
- 16:42But if you look back through 6,000 years of human history, people have often had to
- 16:47live off the land, provide for their family.
- 16:51And this is something that most people are ill-equipped to do.
- 16:54Can you, can you skin a deer?
- 16:56Can you run a trot line?
- 16:57Can you, do you know what flowers and vegetation you can eat and which one's not to eat?
- 17:02Do you know how to filter water, you know, those types of things?
- 17:06So yeah, the third scenario, I clearly the least likely, but you know, it is possible.
- 17:12So the next section in your book in this chapter, chapter 9 is building a preparedness stock
- 17:17pile.
- 17:18And that's what, I mean, you are so extensive in detail that kind of went, oh, my goodness,
- 17:22is there anything he did not think of?
- 17:25One thing my wife would object to and that would be raisins.
- 17:28But other than that, JB, I mean, I mean, just just basically what we talked about earlier,
- 17:33oats and wheat and peanuts and honey, salt, sugar, dried fruits, jerky, comfort foods.
- 17:39And then you've got, we need big containers.
- 17:42And so very practical.
- 17:44And if we just, like you said, if we just do this every time you're at the grocery store
- 17:48or order something, if you just get something extra, whether that be bottled water or
- 17:54other products, just go ahead and share whatever you'd like on this.
- 17:58Yeah, you bet.
- 17:59So water and food are most important.
- 18:01Obviously, if you have the means, the simplest solution is to go online and purchase long-term
- 18:07storeable food from one of the reputable companies.
- 18:10It usually is a 25 to 30 year shelf life.
- 18:13It's expensive, but it would solve the problem and you could get, depending on the number
- 18:17of people in your family, enough to last six months or a year and just tuck it away and
- 18:21you're keeping it in a cool, dry place and you're good, that can check that off your list.
- 18:26But for most people, that's, you know, that's a lot of money and you don't have the means.
- 18:30And so there are much more affordable ways to take care of the food aspect.
- 18:36And that's, you know, looking through our list and picking out some of the things that
- 18:39you can add to your shopping cart or go to Sam's or Costco.
- 18:42They often have bigger bulk items and a lower cost, you know, per unit.
- 18:47So that's, you know, that's one option on the food.
- 18:49For the water, now there's some great filters out there.
- 18:53We use the burky filter and they have different levels and different kinds.
- 18:56We use it every day routinely to filter our water.
- 18:58You ought not be drinking municipal water.
- 19:00Hopefully everybody knows that.
- 19:02If you are, you're putting all kinds of poisons into your body.
- 19:06And even, even bottled water is suspect in some cases.
- 19:09So best thing to do is get a burky or something like that.
- 19:13But you know, let's say you live somewhere and you don't, you're on the city water.
- 19:20How are you going to provide water?
- 19:21Well, as long as the city water is still on, you can filter it and you're good.
- 19:25But whatever the crisis is, causes the source of the water in the town to not be turned
- 19:31on.
- 19:32Well, then you want to look up and see where's a water source near your house.
- 19:35And that's where having some five gallon buckets or even smaller, because the five gallon
- 19:41would be about eight pound, sorry, would be about 80, let's see, 40 pounds.
- 19:46I'll get there eventually 40 pounds.
- 19:48That might be heavy to carry two 40 pound buckets.
- 19:51But is there a pond?
- 19:52Is there a creek?
- 19:53Is there a lake?
- 19:54You could go out under cover of night, fill those up, bring them back and that'll get
- 19:58you through the day.
- 19:59You need the average person needs one gallon of water a day to survive.
- 20:03So there's also things like water generators, which a lot of people don't know about.
- 20:10But echolablu is the brand that we have, they're kind of expensive.
- 20:13We can't use it since we moved to Colorado eight years ago, because it requires a certain
- 20:17level of humidity and Colorado doesn't have that.
- 20:20But if you live somewhere that's got 40% humility or greater, these echolablu water generators
- 20:26are phenomenal.
- 20:27All you need is power.
- 20:29So if you've got a generator, which we do, you can plug it in and it takes the water
- 20:32right out of the air, filters it through reverse osmosis, another means.
- 20:38And then you've got drinkable water.
- 20:40So that's if you have no water source near you, but you have high humidity, I would look
- 20:44at it getting an echolablu.
- 20:46But there's lots of things to think through all the while trusting the Lord, not out of
- 20:50fear, but out of, you know, Lord, you gave me a brain, you gave me a command and scripture
- 20:55to be prepared.
- 20:56I've got responsibilities.
- 20:58And I don't want to just wave the white flag of surrender.
- 21:00I want to, you know, fight till my dying day and make sure that I can provide for my
- 21:04family.
- 21:05Yeah.
- 21:06There's so much and we could do two shows on this easily fighting for your family when
- 21:11I think about that.
- 21:12I think about a quote that you put in your book from Thomas Jefferson when tyranny becomes
- 21:18law, rebellion becomes duty.
- 21:21That might be a little out of context in what we're talking about here, but there is the
- 21:25very real possibility that the government would unleash its minions or somehow control
- 21:31the National Guard or others that come after people.
- 21:34There's that possibility.
- 21:35But JB, before we run out of time, and I do want to talk about your epilogue to the book
- 21:40briefly at the end.
- 21:42But what about our churches?
- 21:44What's the role you said a lot of pastors are not talking about some of these issues.
- 21:49And let's talk about that.
- 21:50I mean, the church might not be a safe place as far as a building to go in some of these
- 21:54emergency situations or crises.
- 21:57What about the church's role in these crises?
- 22:00Yeah, that's a great question because having like-minded people to help you in a crisis
- 22:05can be crucial.
- 22:07You don't want to isolate yourself unless you have to.
- 22:10And so knowing who's on your team and who's there with you can be crucial.
- 22:14So at Plum Creek, we've been thinking through this for years and we've got a list of names
- 22:20of people and certain skill sets that they have, firemen, policemen, EMT, nurse, doctor,
- 22:26engineer, mechanic, those types of things so that we know who can provide what services.
- 22:33We've thought through some of this.
- 22:35We have different communication techniques.
- 22:38We purchased I think eight or 12 walkie talkies that have a 40 mile radius so that if normal
- 22:45comms go down, we ought to be able to communicate.
- 22:48It can also be a resource for food.
- 22:51If you have a food pantry for the community, which is a great idea, maybe have a food pantry
- 22:56for your church that in the event of a crisis, you can divvy up to people who maybe never
- 23:01got to the idea of preparing for themselves.
- 23:05So yeah, I think the church needs to recognize that these types of things could happen, especially
- 23:11and I know you've talked about this on your show, especially with all the open borders
- 23:15and all these really evil people coming across the border.
- 23:19It's not necessarily just our government that we need to fear and I have chapter on that
- 23:23in the book.
- 23:24It could be just regular, bad, depraved people who could be coming and if so, that's when
- 23:31Rebellion becomes duty as Jefferson said and when they're telling you you can't do this
- 23:37or you can't do that and it materially affects your ability to live and survive because
- 23:43you remember Satan wants to kill, steal, and destroy.
- 23:46Then I think that's where you have a duty to stand up, stand firm and protect yourself
- 23:51and your family.
- 23:52Yeah, we've seen just in stores and cities across the country, they're going in and looting
- 23:58and what do they call it, smash and grab.
- 24:00I mean, this is when there is law, when there is, there's not order, but there is law.
- 24:07There's police and our country is not under attack and this is happening and so we wouldn't
- 24:12put it past certain people with that criminal element and that mentality to go from house
- 24:17to house and do what they can.
- 24:19But anyways, go to the NJB where you wrote in the epilogue, the importance of the gospel
- 24:24and let's bring it back to that perspective and just keeping that faith in God during
- 24:31any time where we're preparing where there may be something coming up that the unknown.
- 24:35Let's go back to the epilogue, go back to the basics of the gospel.
- 24:39Yeah, you bet.
- 24:40We've only got a couple of minutes, so I'll make it quick, but you know, burying the
- 24:43lead in Bible prophecy, so many of us in the Bible prophecy realm that love to talk
- 24:48about, you know, end times prophecy, we spend hours and hours studying, researching and
- 24:53giving messages on the timing of the rapture, God, may God, this, that, all these different
- 24:59things.
- 25:00But we often forget what matters most, which is Jesus.
- 25:03First of all, Jesus Christ, God's Son and our Savior is the hero of all Bible prophecy.
- 25:08It ends with him coming back triumphant to make all things new, so never forget that.
- 25:13But on a more personal level, the most important thing you can do for, to prepare is to make
- 25:17sure you have a relationship with him by faith.
- 25:21The Bible says that we're all sinners, we need a Savior.
- 25:23The only hope for mankind is to place their faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God who
- 25:28died and rose again for our sins and is offering freely to all the gift of eternal life.
- 25:33So before you run to Sam's or Costco, before you start, you know, buying ammo and long-term
- 25:39storeable food, make sure there's been a time in your life when you've placed your faith
- 25:43in Jesus Christ.
- 25:44That's priority number one.
- 25:45Are you born again?
- 25:47And I love that you practice what you preached, JB, because in every copy of your book that
- 25:51goes out, there's a little good news, gospel track.
- 25:55So I thank you just for your voice, for your teaching, for the sound doctrine that you
- 26:00share your church and on these podcasts.
- 26:03I'm just thankful for just our friendship.
