- 0:12Hello friends, it is shown here. It is Friday, it's the 19th of
- 0:18July and it is the end of another week.
- 0:22Hello and welcome to Friday. I hope it is a good day for you
- 0:28at the end of a great week. I am currently rubbing shoulders
- 0:32with all the other Army Chaplains.
- 0:34It's all very exciting as I've travelled to Melbourne and I am
- 0:39enjoying some learning time with all these other people that I
- 0:43didn't even know existed in the world.
- 0:45Wealth. Conceptually I knew they
- 0:47existed, but so good to meet people who do the same work as
- 0:50you. Have you ever got to to have
- 0:52that experience? It is a crackerjack.
- 0:55Ah, yeah. It's a good day.
- 0:56It's a good day. And we are going to continue,
- 0:59fellow pilgrims, on our ascent to Jerusalem.
- 1:03Yes, we are still heading up that hill.
- 1:06It is the hill that never ends. It's a song.
- 1:09You could sing it if you like, but this is a hill.
- 1:12Well, this is the 4th week that we are ascending to Jerusalem.
- 1:16And in fact, the next 11 sums will continue the ascent.
- 1:20So, so, so there's a long way to go.
- 1:23There's a long way to go as we settle in heading up toward
- 1:27Jerusalem. But this is this is the Sarmast
- 1:30wanting us to join him in his celebrations, as he has his eyes
- 1:36set on that holy city and he walks there toward it with all
- 1:41that God has promised him there. How fantastic.
- 1:46Let us raise our eyes from the din around us to see God's holy
- 1:52city ahead that we indeed walk ascend to as fellow pilgrims.
- 1:58So let's do it, friends. Let us sing this song for
- 2:02pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. Sam 123
- 2:17I lift my eyes to you. Oh, God enthroned in heaven, we
- 2:24keep looking to the Lord our God for His mercy, just as servants
- 2:30keep their eyes on their master as a slave girl watches her
- 2:35mistress for the slightest signal.
- 2:39Have mercy on us, Lord, Have mercy, for we have had our fill
- 2:45of contempt. We have had more than our fill
- 2:49of the scoffing of the proud and the contempt of the arrogant.
- 3:05Indeed, Jesus, we do look to you for your mercy in a world full
- 3:12of judgement, for all the mistakes we make, where we get
- 3:18paid back for everything we do, good and bad.
- 3:22We lift our eyes to you in your holy city, and we see your
- 3:28different way, Your way of mercy.
- 3:32And your mercy is so glorious, as the psalmist says, we keep
- 3:38looking for it. We keep waiting for it, just for
- 3:41the tiniest hint of mercy, because it is sweet as honey on
- 3:46our lips to taste your mercy, Your undeserved, unfailing,
- 3:52eternal mercy to us. Thank you that you don't come to
- 4:00judge, that you didn't send your son to judge us.
- 4:04Got to save us. And so we just revel in the
- 4:11warmth and glory of Your mercy. You're saving mercy for us, and
- 4:17we thank you for that mercy and for Jesus who embodies that
- 4:22mercy to us. And we pray all of this in his
- 4:26name. Ah, man.
