- 0:00Hello friends! Welcome back to Wonderfully Made,
- 0:04Bible Stories for Children. I'm so glad you're
- 0:08here! Last time, we heard how the Shunammite
- 0:12woman returned home after many years away. God
- 0:16had warned her before the famine came, and when
- 0:20she returned, everything she had lost was restored.
- 0:24Once again, we saw that God remembers his people
- 0:28and keeps his promises. Today, Elisha travels
- 0:32to the city of Damascus. A king is very sick.
- 0:37A messenger is sent with an important question.
- 0:41And we'll discover that nothing about the future
- 0:44is hidden from God. Are you ready? Let's jump
- 0:49in. Elisha traveled to Damascus. At that time,
- 1:08the king of Aram, Ben -Hadad, was very sick.
- 1:12When the king heard that Elisha had come, he
- 1:16sent one of his trusted servants, Hazil, to meet
- 1:19him. Hazil brought many gifts from the king.
- 1:23He came with one important question. Would the
- 1:28king recover from his sickness? Azale met Elisha
- 1:32and asked the king's question. Elisha told Hazel
- 1:36to tell the king that he would recover. But then
- 1:40Elisha explained something more. The Lord had
- 1:44shown him that the king would still die. The
- 1:47sickness would not be what ended the king's life.
- 1:51God already knew everything that was going to
- 1:54happen. Nothing was hidden from him. Then Elisha
- 1:59looked steadily at Hazel. For a long moment,
- 2:02he said nothing. Soon, tears filled Elisha's
- 2:07eyes. Hazel was surprised and asked why Elisha
- 2:12was weeping. Elisha explained that God had shown
- 2:16him the evil things Hazel would do, that he would
- 2:20become king of Aram, and the suffering he would
- 2:23bring to the people of Israel. Hazil could hardly
- 2:27believe it. He did not think someone like him
- 2:31could become king or do such terrible things.
- 2:35But Elisha told him that the Lord had shown he
- 2:38would become king of Aram. Hazil returned to
- 2:42King Ben -Hadad. He told the king that he would
- 2:45recover from his sickness. But the next day,
- 2:49Hazil chose to do a terrible thing. He caused
- 2:53the death of King Ben -Hadad. Then Haziel became
- 2:57king of Aram, just as the Lord had shown Elisha.
- 3:02Everything happened exactly as God had revealed.
- 3:06Nothing takes God by surprise. He knows everything,
- 3:11from the beginning to the end. Let's think about
- 3:21today's story together. Why did King Ben -Hadad
- 3:27send Hazil to Elisha? Why do you think Elisha
- 3:34wept when he looked at Hazil? What does this
- 3:41story teach us about what God knows? How can
- 3:48remembering that God knows the future help us
- 3:52trust him? We do not know what tomorrow will
- 3:59bring. Sometimes the future feels uncertain.
- 4:03But God knows everything. He is never surprised.
- 4:08And because he knows the future, we can trust
- 4:11him every day. Thanks for joining me today. Next
- 4:18time on Wonderfully Made. We'll meet a young
- 4:22king who begins to rule Judah. We'll see another
- 4:26king ruling Israel at the same time. And we'll
- 4:30discover how the choices of leaders can affect
- 4:33many people, and why following God is always
- 4:37the wisest path. Until then, remember, you are
- 4:42wonderfully made. Bye for now.
