- 0:02S1: Listen up, production. Snuggle up with 20 minutes of the
- 0:07S1: fur balls.
- 0:08S2: Coughed up by two of the cutest little kittens wrestling
- 0:11S2: their way across the undermanned egos view. It's Matt and
- 0:15S2: Alex all day breakfast.
- 0:17S3: Yes, we are here for you on this Thursday. Matt
- 0:20S3: and Alex all day. Breakfast for a public holiday special.
- 0:24S3: Alex Dyson.
- 0:25S4: Yeah. The prime Minister announced a national day of mourning
- 0:28S4: for the Queen R.I.P.. But whether you are a monarchist
- 0:32S4: who wears a union jack bow tie to work, or
- 0:36S4: whether you're thinking, Well, I see people, I see royal watchers,
- 0:41S4: I see they do what one?
- 0:43S3: Like, what is it you Jack? Bow tie?
- 0:47S4: I don't know. Maybe they drive a little mini with
- 0:51S4: a union jack on the front, like.
- 0:53S3: You know somebody else.
- 0:55S4: Whether you do that or you're more interested in, you know,
- 0:58S4: removing Australia from the monarchy and seeing it as it
- 1:01S4: is a passing of an old system. We're here for you.
- 1:04S4: We're sticking out of that because we respect our as Matt.
- 1:07S4: We're going to be talking to someone who was instrumental
- 1:09S4: in making sure the mikes were turned on today.
- 1:12S3: Yeah, that's right. We do listen to you so you
- 1:14S3: can always keep in touch with us at Matt and
- 1:16S3: Alex on Instagram. I've also got a little bit of
- 1:19S3: a mind blowing fact for you that we'll be diving
- 1:23S3: into a little bit later on. So no shop show
- 1:26S3: here on this sweet, sweet Thursday. Hope you having a
- 1:29S3: good one. It's about now.
- 1:30S4: It's sad. Sad Thursday.
- 1:32S3: Yeah. Yeah. Sorry. Oh, yeah. My bad, my bad. It
- 1:36S3: passes me to your possibilities. This is just the start.
- 1:40S3: Everyone ready? Let's get this.
- 1:41S4: Show on the road. Let's go. Here we go. Here
- 1:43S4: we go. Here we go.
- 1:44S1: Matt Now it's all day. Breakfast.
- 1:47S4: Yeah. Matt, We talked to the bosses here at Matt
- 1:51S4: and Alex HQ at Listener, and I said, Boys, you
- 1:55S4: can take the day off. You will be very upset
- 2:00S4: and have a commemorative scone with jam and cream. And
- 2:05S4: you know what? We were almost going to do it.
- 2:07S4: We're almost going to do it.
- 2:09S3: Then we got a message. Alex Dyson from a listener.
- 2:13S3: And we read every single one that comes in and
- 2:16S3: we take every single one seriously. We like complaints at
- 2:18S3: government bodies. You know, we don't just we don't just
- 2:21S3: sweep it under the rug.
- 2:24S4: And ironically, most of the messages are complaints.
- 2:27S3: So so we have to take them very seriously. But
- 2:30S3: one came through that wasn't a complaint.
- 2:32S4: More a wish list, wasn't it?
- 2:33S3: It was one asked one person. Renee got in touch, said.
- 2:39S3: Here is a list of reasons why you should do
- 2:42S3: a podcast on the public holiday.
- 2:45S4: We did throw the question out. Do you want us
- 2:47S4: to do this podcast on a day of mourning and.
- 2:51S3: And we've got that person on the phone right now
- 2:54S3: because here we are doing that podcast for this person.
- 2:58S3: It is Rene Wilkey. Hello, Rene.
- 3:01S1: How you guys? How you going?
- 3:02S4: Good, thanks. Where do we find you at the moment?
- 3:05S1: I'm actually on holidays at the moment in Alex's hometown.
- 3:08S4: Then the gold, you go and hop into the local library,
- 3:11S4: say in Dawson on the computers there.
- 3:13S1: I forgot about that. The kids asked the other day
- 3:15S1: and I didn't go.
- 3:16S3: Well, what's what's your favorite part of Warrnambool so far?
- 3:21S1: Oh, the The Waterfront is pretty nice. I've been down
- 3:24S1: there running every morning. It was.
- 3:25S3: You seen any horses on the beach?
- 3:27S1: I have both mornings.
- 3:29S4: Right. Basically we went yet about ready to, you know,
- 3:32S4: pack it in and just give you a Wednesday Friday special.
- 3:34S4: But you called up said let's do a podcast we should.
- 3:36S4: I said sure, why not? But problem is, Rene, we
- 3:40S4: don't have anything to talk about. Got nothing to talk about.
- 3:42S4: What do you want this podcast to be about? You
- 3:44S4: got any questions for us?
- 3:45S1: Oh, listen, boys, I've got lots of questions for you
- 3:48S1: young guys out there, but I do have my my
- 3:52S1: first question is. The podcast you released last Friday. Til
- 3:57S1: Death Do US Part. You kept it up. I'm very impressed.
- 4:01S1: You kept it.
- 4:03S4: Because as people who made other seemingly insensitive tweets of
- 4:08S4: hastily taking them dead once the news of the Queen's
- 4:12S4: sad policy came through.
- 4:14S1: But the U2 you've got these are balls of steel,
- 4:17S1: I suppose, and you just keep throwing these things out
- 4:19S1: there and getting away with it. And that's what I love.
- 4:23S3: I can't even remember what happened.
- 4:24S4: Well, we were talking to Murph from the wombat.
- 4:28S3: Yeah.
- 4:29S4: How was it?
- 4:30S3: What we call the virtual death to us.
- 4:32S4: The name of it.
- 4:32S3: Yeah, that's.
- 4:33S4: Right. Cos and it came up at 5 a.m. and
- 4:35S4: the news of the Queen's death came through at about
- 4:37S4: 530 or something.
- 4:38S1: It was perfect timing.
- 4:40S4: Oh, no, no.
- 4:43S1: But the main reason that you should run it really
- 4:45S1: today and you are running it is, It's birthday. Two
- 4:51S1: years of COVID lockdown. And everything's going to be more expensive.
- 4:56S1: Probably call it a surcharge. Oh. One free thing I
- 4:59S1: can do is listen to you guys in the morning.
- 5:01S3: Yeah, that's right. We are. We charge the same every day.
- 5:05S3: No matter where you are, how you're listening. What are
- 5:07S3: you looking forward to the most about today's birthday?
- 5:10S1: Oh, look, catching up with people. Because everyone can come
- 5:12S1: over because it's public holiday. No one's working. Oh, no.
- 5:15S1: I sit around the fire and have some public surcharge pizza.
- 5:21S3: Louis, how you feeling about pineapple on pizza, Renee?
- 5:24S1: Oh.
- 5:26S3: Yeah. I used to be like you. Oh, but my.
- 5:30S3: My tongue, my taste buds, much like you, has matured. Oh,
- 5:35S3: and what's the best?
- 5:38S4: I ate only a day older today.
- 5:42S3: Right. But. So I like. Wonderful.
- 5:44S4: Now, give me a little bit of that hot pine
- 5:46S4: for your. I disagree with you every night, but what about? Well,
- 5:51S4: something I was thinking about today with, you know, obviously
- 5:53S4: the queen's passing. Having the day of mourning is grandparent's, right?
- 5:56S4: 96 is a really good age. Just thinking about, like
- 5:58S4: my own grandparents, all of which have passed away. We
- 6:01S4: had some, you know, good times and good chats with
- 6:03S4: your grandparents over the years.
- 6:04S1: Yeah, definitely. One grandma is still alive actually in Northern Ireland,
- 6:09S1: so she's still going at 94, I think.
- 6:13S4: Oh, it's incredible because that's the part of the UK,
- 6:16S4: the Northern Ireland section of the United Kingdom. Yes, she
- 6:20S4: a monarchist.
- 6:21S1: She is.
- 6:22S3: How did she do the lining up thing?
- 6:25S1: No, no, no. She's in a home now. She's just
- 6:29S1: in the home. So what she's.
- 6:31S3: What's the most amazing thing about her?
- 6:34S1: Oh, the most amazing thing about grandma. She still manages
- 6:38S1: to watch this show in the UK. It's called Countdown.
- 6:41S1: I think they have got and they have got it
- 6:43S1: here in Australia. Actually, I think it goes on me
- 6:45S1: sometimes and she still watch that every day and most
- 6:50S1: days get that conundrum, that big long word at the end.
- 6:53S3: Well, I'll tell you what, that celebrity we did, celebrity letters, numbers,
- 6:57S3: we call it letters numbers here. It's called Countdown over there.
- 7:00S3: And I mean, I used to watch that show, you know,
- 7:02S3: ironing my shirts before I'd go out to do stand
- 7:05S3: up gigs. And I think my this is a piece
- 7:08S3: of piece. When that clock's ticking and you're on the set,
- 7:12S3: I'll tell you what, the sweat drips from the brow.
- 7:15S3: It is the hair raising stuff. So she's doing.
- 7:18S1: Very next level. She is next level. She loves it.
- 7:21S4: Oh, isn't that sensational? Well, tonight, we really appreciate you
- 7:25S4: joining us. Thank you very much for getting us into
- 7:29S4: work on a public holiday. But that's what we do.
- 7:31S4: We really love, you know, you contacting us and getting involved.
- 7:36S4: And so, yeah, we thought the least we could do
- 7:37S4: is check out another pod. For those who are keen
- 7:40S4: on listening to one on a Thursday, regardless of, you know,
- 7:42S4: whether you are in mourning or whether it's doesn't make
- 7:44S4: as much of an impact.
- 7:46S1: Awesome. Thank you. It's. It's only, what, 23, 26 minutes
- 7:50S1: of your life every day, boys. Too easy.
- 7:52S4: Exactly.
- 7:53S3: Thanks. That's easy for you. That's awesome. We love it.
- 7:58S3: Thank you so much, Renee.
- 7:59S4: These parody songs don't write sell. Come on. I spend
- 8:03S4: a lot of time now.
- 8:06S1: I keep doing what you do, boys. I love it
- 8:07S1: every morning.
- 8:08S3: Thank you so much. And I.
- 8:09S1: Bye bye.
- 8:13S4: All day. Breakfast now. An all day breakfast. It is
- 8:17S4: time for.
- 8:22S3: Sorry. You can probably hear my tapping away at my
- 8:24S3: keyboard as I get my affect up.
- 8:27S4: Yeah, well, you do like to bring us a fact
- 8:29S4: that will absolutely drop our jaw to the floor. So
- 8:34S4: what have been we been working with this week? Well,
- 8:37S4: we going.
- 8:37S3: We're going below the floor. Alex Tyson. And look, I'm
- 8:40S3: not going to lie. Part of the reason why we
- 8:42S3: decided to do the Thursday episode when we could have
- 8:44S3: just been slacking off like the rest of the world
- 8:48S3: in mourning, of course. Oh.
- 8:53S4: Am I said Slack is is what Matt O'Connor has
- 8:57S4: called anyone not going to work today?
- 8:59S3: I got I got I got an Instagram message from
- 9:02S3: at Kenny Dot once and it was a tile with
- 9:08S3: writing over it. And you know on the Internet when
- 9:10S3: you see a picture that was.
- 9:10S4: Like the only slack here is getting his content from
- 9:13S4: people sending, you.
- 9:14S3: Know, and you get, you know, when you see a
- 9:16S3: picture of something on the Internet and it has rotting
- 9:19S3: over the top of it and you just you know,
- 9:21S3: you immediately think, well, this is definitely a fact. It
- 9:23S3: has to be true because.
- 9:24S4: Oh, of course.
- 9:25S3: Because it's, you know, a picture with writing over it.
- 9:27S4: Yeah. That's how, you know, a lot of elections have
- 9:29S4: been won in the.
- 9:30S3: Last week pretty much through.
- 9:31S4: The last decade.
- 9:32S3: So I looked it up and this was the fact.
- 9:37S3: Marine iguanas. Yeah. Ever had a marine iguanas?
- 9:42S4: I think they were they the ones in planet Earth,
- 9:44S4: the little marine iguana running from the snakes when they
- 9:47S4: get born.
- 9:49S3: I don't know.
- 9:50S4: I continue then.
- 9:51S3: So Marine iguanas, right? They're main predators. They're the only
- 9:57S3: lizards that they can go underwater and they feed off
- 9:59S3: algae underneath the water.
- 10:00S4: I have seen footage of them. Yeah.
- 10:02S3: Because they live in the Galapagos Islands. And. And their
- 10:07S3: main predators are the sharks who can hear their heartbeats
- 10:12S3: from up to 13 feet away. It's about four meters
- 10:16S3: or so. Three meters? Four meters.
- 10:18S4: When you're that close, you're not to see them.
- 10:22S3: Well, they're pretty good to camouflage, you know what I mean?
- 10:24S3: Like you've not been able to find your keys. I'm
- 10:26S3: sure they're just in the same room as you.
- 10:28S4: So. Yeah, true that you know so.
- 10:30S3: And also know sharks have eyes on either side of
- 10:33S3: the head, so the iguana could just be right under nose.
- 10:36S4: Yeah, you're swimming above. So. So this is on the rocks, right?
- 10:39S4: Camouflaged in the.
- 10:40S3: Rocks. That's it. So the shark walks in, stops walks,
- 10:45S3: son swims in, stops. He's a.
- 10:51S4: That's really good. That just put his throat over the microphone.
- 10:55S4: I just did a little hot beat for you right there.
- 10:57S3: This is my first rodeo.
- 10:58S4: It's like a 1930s radio play. And then that came
- 11:02S4: with a two horse shock riding on a horse and.
- 11:12S3: And anyway, yeah, he has that sound and goes, Yeah, Mo,
- 11:16S3: it's dinner time. Right. But these iguanas are able to
- 11:20S3: voluntarily stop their hearts for up to 45 minutes. What's
- 11:25S3: to deter the sharks?
- 11:27S4: That's, I think, a bit of a double whammy. The
- 11:29S4: fact that they could hear the heartbeat of the fact
- 11:31S4: that the iguanas now know that they'd go. Whoa, quiet
- 11:34S4: down there.
- 11:35S3: Yeah, exactly. I thought that was pretty impressive.
- 11:37S4: Oh, it is true.
- 11:38S3: That's true.
- 11:40S1: Mind round along the way.
- 11:43S4: You got yourself a mind blowing there, Matt. Good work.
- 11:46S4: Good work. Thank you, Iguanas. But yeah, if you haven't
- 11:50S4: seen the planet Earth one with the iguana running away
- 11:52S4: from the snakes, it's the best chase scene of all time.
- 11:56S4: Better than any James Bond. Yes.
- 11:58S3: I know what you're talking about.
- 11:59S4: It's brilliant. Yeah, but we like your mind blown as well.
- 12:03S3: I just realized I could have done some sort of.
- 12:05S3: The shark enters the. You know, enters the room, hears
- 12:08S3: the and thinks, Ooh, I'm iguana eat. You know, I.
- 12:20S1: Just throw.
- 12:21S4: Up, you know.
- 12:21S3: I mean, I'm iguana eat.
- 12:23S4: You leave them to the advice of I reckon Matthew
- 12:27S4: but I thank you for sending in your own mind blown.
- 12:29S4: Please record yourself reading a fact to us and send
- 12:33S4: it through the matter. What? Alex? As Christy Jane has done,
- 12:36S4: who has a mind blown about compliments.
- 12:39S1: Hey, Matt and Alex. I have a fun one for you.
- 12:42S1: It's not a fully proven fact. However, this is something
- 12:45S1: I have observed and have yet to be proven wrong.
- 12:49S1: Women are unable to accept a compliment without providing a
- 12:54S1: fact about said compliment. For example, I love your hair. Thanks.
- 12:59S1: I just watched it. I love your dress. Thanks. It
- 13:03S1: has pockets or I got it on sale. So if
- 13:07S1: you're ever looking for a fun activity, compliment the women
- 13:09S1: in your life and wait for the fun facts.
- 13:13S4: Brian, you are a really good producer.
- 13:17S1: Thanks. No, no, That's it. That's it.
- 13:22S3: There is anything. Just to do. You know, I actually
- 13:27S3: did complement your your top. You did? Yeah. Well, when
- 13:30S3: you when we when you greeted me at the door.
- 13:32S1: And I did give you a five. What did.
- 13:33S4: You say.
- 13:34S3: You did.
- 13:35S4: What did you say?
- 13:36S3: The fact was that you had been complimented a few
- 13:38S3: times today on that talk.
- 13:39S1: Yeah. Mind blowing.
- 13:43S4: Christy.
- 13:43S3: Jane, you did. You said you said, Oh, thanks. I've, I've.
- 13:47S3: But then. Oh, yeah, yeah, you then you sort of
- 13:48S3: downplayed it, you know.
- 13:51S1: Yeah. But then Yeah. Because when people start complimenting you
- 13:53S1: one off throughout the way you just think and I
- 13:55S1: been looking like a piece of cheese every time I
- 13:59S1: walked in here. And then all of a sudden everyone
- 14:00S1: today is like, Oh, you look really nice and nothing different.
- 14:04S4: That's it. Well, you've yet to be disproven. Christy, Jane,
- 14:07S4: thank you very much for that. And yet, as mentioned,
- 14:10S4: place and in third we love to Adam here at
- 14:11S4: Matt and Alex all day breakfast. Let's move on with
- 14:14S4: the show. What?
- 14:20S3: All day breakfast.
- 14:24S1: Drippy.
- 14:33S3: I love wine and everything about it. What are you into? Wine.
- 14:36S3: I love. Love.
- 14:37S4: Well, before we do, leave you on this Thursday public holiday.
- 14:41S4: National Day of Mourning. Producer Brian is with us. Hello, Brian.
- 14:46S1: Hello.
- 14:47S4: Nice of you to wear the union Jack bow tie.
- 14:51S1: Yeah, Thank you. More for Geri Halliwell.
- 14:55S4: Yeah, that dress. Iconic.
- 14:57S3: Iconic. So, um, what have you seen around the place
- 15:02S3: with regards to this particular day of mourning, Brian?
- 15:05S1: There's a lot of articles out. A lot of people.
- 15:09S1: Thank you. Did you hear those? There was actually some
- 15:11S1: audio from a ghost. Apparently, that was like death is.
- 15:16S1: It was actually creepy. I'll get looked at it now.
- 15:18S4: Okay, Here is creepy audio.
- 15:22S1: The death is irreversible. And the fact that she.
- 15:24S4: As you can see.
- 15:26S1: On ITV in the UK, they were like showing a
- 15:30S1: picture of the queen in the coffin. And then it
- 15:34S1: was just a normal person talking. And then there's a
- 15:38S1: whisper in the background saying the death is irreversible. And
- 15:41S1: the fact that she thought was really ominous.
- 15:43S4: It's also some. Quite scary audio of the, um, I
- 15:48S4: think it was the TV presenters who saw the new
- 15:51S4: Prime Minister Liz Truss, walking. It didn't recognise that it
- 15:54S4: could be some minor royals.
- 15:58S3: And so that doing the rounds on Twitter. Yikes. And gosh,
- 16:02S3: can we please is this please let this be the
- 16:05S3: end of this Meghan Markle business. Every day just they're
- 16:12S3: just smashing her.
- 16:14S1: She can't breathe without getting an article.
- 16:15S3: I know, right? Something that she does. The way she
- 16:19S3: blinks is wrong. Oh, she did this. Oh, look at
- 16:22S3: how she's this. No, I. I've yet to see any
- 16:26S3: evidence that there is a feud between her and Kate.
- 16:29S3: I'm literally yet to see anything that would actually indicate that.
- 16:33S1: No.
- 16:35S3: If I make it against.
- 16:37S4: Megan, though, Get sucked in, but don't get sucked in.
- 16:39S4: But Broad, you've got another story.
- 16:42S3: To tell.
- 16:42S4: That relates to this.
- 16:44S1: Kind of. It was just a memory I had from
- 16:46S1: when I was at university. Very vague memory that I
- 16:49S1: was in this class, I think in my second year.
- 16:52S1: And something was they were talking about the Queen. And
- 16:54S1: everyone's like, Oh yeah, like, whatever. She wears cute outfits.
- 16:59S1: And one guy was like, Oh, I really love the Queen.
- 17:01S1: And everyone's like, Oh, okay, cool. And he's like, No,
- 17:04S1: I really, really love the Queen. And then proceeds to
- 17:08S1: show us how it starts.
- 17:09S3: And I just really turned up our face then. Like,
- 17:12S3: that sounds.
- 17:13S1: Nasty. He then showed us his phone screensaver, which was
- 17:18S1: a picture of the queen he had as his background.
- 17:22S4: Wow.
- 17:22S1: I just want to say, you know, I forgot who
- 17:25S1: you are, but it's really a sad day for that
- 17:28S1: guy today.
- 17:29S4: How did the queen as your background?
- 17:32S1: Yeah.
- 17:33S4: That's interesting. I would never think to have. Any world
- 17:38S4: leader in my background. I wouldn't put the Prime Minister
- 17:41S4: as my back background would put the president in the
- 17:44S4: fight background.
- 17:45S3: I mean, so fear is my background.
- 17:48S4: Well, you're you're related to her. I want you.
- 17:51S3: To know who does have the queen as the background
- 17:53S3: permanently the $5 Note that, like the fox on its screensaver,
- 17:59S3: has been the queen for a long time.
- 18:00S4: I wish the I'm sure the Australian Mint wishes that
- 18:03S4: it was easy to change that as it would be
- 18:05S4: to change your vote background.
- 18:07S3: So. So have you. Have you had on your phone background, Brian.
- 18:11S1: At the moment, mine's just a of my friends. A
- 18:13S1: group of my friends.
- 18:14S3: Oh, that's nice. Do you like your friends? More than
- 18:16S3: I like mine. I've never put my friends on my.
- 18:19S1: Phone using that.
- 18:21S4: Yeah. Imagine if we had each other.
- 18:26S3: As a.
- 18:26S1: Group.
- 18:28S4: But it.
- 18:28S3: Would.
- 18:29S4: Be so odd. Oh, that's.
- 18:30S3: Great. Okay. I would have definitely had.
- 18:33S1: You know, full at way back in the day. Yeah,
- 18:35S1: for sure.
- 18:36S3: What was the what's the, like, most embarrassing fan thing
- 18:41S3: you've done? Because I had a friend who wrote to
- 18:43S3: Delta Goodrem when we were in high school.
- 18:45S4: Whoa.
- 18:46S3: Yeah, he was really.
- 18:48S4: Bringing that up with Delta when we interviewed her on
- 18:50S4: the show multiple times.
- 18:51S3: Oh, I just had forgotten about it. But now he
- 18:53S3: was really into Delta and so. Yeah. Yeah, he, like,
- 18:57S3: he wrote her a letter. Yeah.
- 18:59S4: Remember what? Just saying. Hey, I really like your acting.
- 19:03S3: I think it was. Yeah. And I think it was just. Yeah,
- 19:06S3: I think it was something like something real like that.
- 19:11S3: Something real by the letter. Just wanted to say. I
- 19:14S3: just think what you do is really nice. Sorry.
- 19:19S4: So what they said about you and I absolutely disagree.
- 19:24S3: It just sucks. Dirty kneed, groveling, Bloody Simon. Yeah, you know.
- 19:33S3: Or we to say that to me. I don't know.
- 19:36S4: Could be. Because, like, I guess fan mail is actually
- 19:38S4: quite good. Yeah.
- 19:40S3: I read someone telling me that. Just nice things. You
- 19:43S3: know what I mean?
- 19:43S4: Yeah. Do the opposite and just slam people on social media.
- 19:49S4: Rip them to shreds.
- 19:49S3: Usually I get people calling me a crumb and pointing
- 19:53S3: out how bold I'm going. Like no one ever said, Hey, well.
- 19:57S4: That's an Alpha move. It's time to wipe down the
- 20:10S4: benches and close the kitchen on another episode of Old
- 20:13S4: Day Breakfast. But thank you very much for hanging out
- 20:15S4: with us.
- 20:15S3: We absolutely love to hear your stories, so please keep
