- 1:15Speaker 3: We are awaiting an appearance from Metro News meteorologist Brian Hughes.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Brian is working in the Metro News Weather Center as
- 1:23Speaker 3: we speak, so we planned to have him at the
- 1:25Speaker 3: top of the show. He'll probably come running down here
- 1:28Speaker 3: just in a moment. But I will tell you that
- 1:30Speaker 3: we are expecting possibly some severe weather in certain areas
- 1:33Speaker 3: by the time you head home from work today. The
- 1:36Speaker 3: entire area of the entire WCCHS listing area is under
- 1:39Speaker 3: a flash floodwatch. I can tell you that for sure.
- 1:42Speaker 3: And we had some rain that rolled through the early
- 1:45Speaker 3: early this morning. I actually my cat decided, one of
- 1:48Speaker 3: my cats decided this morning at three thirty I needed
- 1:50Speaker 3: to be awake, and so I was awake with Whalan
- 1:53Speaker 3: this morning and I heard the thunder. But then I
- 1:55Speaker 3: got up and I was like, I do think the
- 1:57Speaker 3: ground is wet, but it is raining a little bit now,
- 1:59Speaker 3: I think Charleston. So if we can get break Brian
- 2:02Speaker 3: away from the computer, we'll bring him out. And a
- 2:04Speaker 3: reminder that you can follow Metro News mediorologist Brian Hughes
- 2:08Speaker 3: by downloading the Metro News television app or by following
- 2:10Speaker 3: online as well Brian and his team of meteorologists, and
- 2:14Speaker 3: so we'll try to bring him here in just a
- 2:15Speaker 3: little bit. The gentleman you heard they're laughing at me
- 2:19Speaker 3: in the background was Sean Hill from KRT. Hey doing
- 2:22Speaker 3: my friend, welcome to the show.
- 2:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm doing fantastic. Thanks for having me, Dave.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Yeah, So do you have a pet? Are you a pet?
- 2:27Speaker 5: Gany?
- 2:27Speaker 1: I do?
- 2:27Speaker 5: And my cat woke up at one am with a hairball,
- 2:30Speaker 5: so that was different than it is but same effect.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Oh wait, yeah, one of our cats has decided now
- 2:37Speaker 3: that he likes to sleep on my side of the bed,
- 2:39Speaker 3: and you know that he he needed to let me
- 2:42Speaker 3: know of his presence at about three thirty this morning,
- 2:45Speaker 3: and so yeah, that's that's how that's how, that's how
- 2:48Speaker 3: that went. Shawn, of course, is the executive director of
- 2:51Speaker 3: k RT. How are things been with you?
- 2:53Speaker 5: Hey? Things have been actually going really well. And for
- 2:55Speaker 5: the last time we spoke, I was in here, you know,
- 2:57Speaker 5: telling people how important the Kanawha County Publics Safety Levee was,
- 3:00Speaker 5: and I'm thrilled to come back and let you know
- 3:03Speaker 5: that there was overwhelming approval of that safety levee, and
- 3:06Speaker 5: I want to thank the first the Kanawu County Commission
- 3:08Speaker 5: for putting that on the ballot, and they do that
- 3:10Speaker 5: every five years. And we can't say enough about how
- 3:12Speaker 5: appreciative we are and all of our partners who helped
- 3:15Speaker 5: make that happen, and most especially to the public who
- 3:18Speaker 5: came out and said, hey, emergency services, whether that's fire, ambulance, buses, police,
- 3:22Speaker 5: everything is so important to the citizens in Kanawak County
- 3:26Speaker 5: and that really allows us to aim towards the future
- 3:29Speaker 5: and budgets, et cetera with some confidence of what our
- 3:32Speaker 5: funding is going to look like.
- 3:33Speaker 3: What did I mean I don't know if you know
- 3:35Speaker 3: this all of the top of your head, but how
- 3:37Speaker 3: much did it pass by? What was the percentage? I
- 3:39Speaker 3: mean it was overwhelming hopefully it was.
- 3:41Speaker 5: Yes, it was overwhelming. So a safety levee needs sixty
- 3:45Speaker 5: percent approval and we got seventy five percent this time.
- 3:47Speaker 5: So it's really nice. And again we don't take it
- 3:51Speaker 5: for granted. Every single time we go out there and
- 3:53Speaker 5: push like it's you know, like it's going to fail,
- 3:55Speaker 5: but thankfully it's performed extremely well over the last several iterations.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Right, we are Brian is gonna can we pause you
- 4:03Speaker 3: just once? We came because I didn't want to do.
- 4:05Speaker 5: The weather either way, all right, good to see you always.
- 4:10Speaker 3: All right, all right, all right weather gey.
- 4:11Speaker 6: Yeah, sorry, I got pulled into a meet and you
- 4:13Speaker 6: know how that works.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I fully understand that.
- 4:16Speaker 6: Fascinating.
- 4:16Speaker 3: It wasn't a biscuit or saw? Was it bacon or
- 4:19Speaker 3: sauceweaters today?
- 4:20Speaker 4: Oh?
- 4:20Speaker 6: No, sausage?
- 4:21Speaker 2: Okay, okay, always, but I do love the bacon though,
- 4:24Speaker 2: candy bacon especially.
- 4:25Speaker 3: All Right, all right, tell us about the weather and
- 4:27Speaker 3: then I'll get back to Sean.
- 4:29Speaker 6: We're looking at it.
- 4:29Speaker 3: You look at the you guys.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Match well, that means means we are provac Yeah, that's right.
- 4:36Speaker 7: We are.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yes, it's almost matches a little bit of color. You know,
- 4:40Speaker 3: I may actually get a picture that posted on So.
- 4:42Speaker 6: We has dinosaurs and I have I have uh, well, cocktails.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Okay, well of course you did. All right, what's the
- 4:49Speaker 3: weather it was?
- 4:50Speaker 6: And we were looking at flash flud watch.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It really kicks off this afternoon about one two o'clock
- 4:54Speaker 2: afternoon when the flash flood watched.
- 4:56Speaker 6: It goes into effect.
- 4:57Speaker 2: We are going to see very heavy rainfall with these
- 4:59Speaker 2: showers that developed today, and a lot of that's going
- 5:01Speaker 2: to be from this tropical air mess that we have.
- 5:04Speaker 2: That's how the golf it's really it's a combination of
- 5:06Speaker 2: golf and Atlantic moisture. When you get those two sort
- 5:09Speaker 2: of teaming up, it becomes messy. Now we're not looking
- 5:13Speaker 2: at significance of your weather event, but we do have
- 5:16Speaker 2: gusty wins a primary threat outside of the flash flooding.
- 5:18Speaker 2: As we go in this afternoon, temperatures low eighties, not
- 5:22Speaker 2: bad at all for temperature wise, and then we cool
- 5:25Speaker 2: down over the next couple of days, especially in the mornings.
- 5:26Speaker 2: We'll have some fog over the next couple of mornings,
- 5:28Speaker 2: but for today, we are looking at heavy rainfall. An
- 5:31Speaker 2: inch is probably an easy target of what we're going
- 5:34Speaker 2: to see. There will be spots that have higher numbers
- 5:36Speaker 2: than that, especially if you get one storm that runs
- 5:38Speaker 2: over the same area a couple of times.
- 5:40Speaker 3: All right, and so the entire area, our our entire
- 5:42Speaker 3: lis scenarios under flash.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Entire wors scenarios under a flash flowball until and that
- 5:46Speaker 2: goes until tonight. I think it was eleven tonight I think,
- 5:48Speaker 2: is what I think, because most of the showers will
- 5:50Speaker 2: be wrapping up as we're getting about to about seven
- 5:54Speaker 2: eight o'clock tonight. But the stuff that goes to the
- 5:56Speaker 2: over night into the late night hours will just aggravate something.
- 6:00Speaker 2: It's not going to be anything that's going to cost
- 6:01Speaker 2: any more significant fooding.
- 6:03Speaker 3: So the big deal here, we're not looking like a
- 6:04Speaker 3: tornado event or anything like watches or warnings or anything
- 6:07Speaker 3: like that. It is going to be heavy rain, right.
- 6:11Speaker 2: And that that's really it's it's soaking rains. And right
- 6:13Speaker 2: now we're already you know, we're not water logged. But
- 6:16Speaker 2: the rain that we did have as we went into
- 6:18Speaker 2: last week did not did not help our situation for today.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Later on this week, though, we're going to drive Tuesday, Wednesday,
- 6:24Speaker 2: Thursday and then Thursday nights and more rain moves in
- 6:27Speaker 2: and we've got often on rain chences all the way
- 6:28Speaker 2: through the weekend.
- 6:29Speaker 3: All right, what time are we looking at this s
- 6:32Speaker 3: epternoon when these storms should fire up? Approximately? I mean,
- 6:34Speaker 3: I know it's yeah, we've got exactly but right, we've
- 6:37Speaker 3: got stuff that's right now that's just across parts of
- 6:40Speaker 3: eastern Kentucky that's starting to move in.
- 6:42Speaker 2: So over the next about two hours so we're going
- 6:44Speaker 2: to start to see our first rounds of rain that
- 6:45Speaker 2: will start.
- 6:46Speaker 8: To pick up.
- 6:47Speaker 2: And a lot of this, by the way, a lot
- 6:48Speaker 2: of this has embedded lightning. The one thing that we
- 6:51Speaker 2: had that we've had over the last number of times
- 6:53Speaker 2: a matter of fact, by the way, that Saturday rain.
- 6:55Speaker 6: Hello, that was a surprise.
- 6:57Speaker 2: But the one thing, Yeah, it rained late Saturday night
- 7:01Speaker 2: is like eleven o'clock all of a sudden.
- 7:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I was like, oh, I.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Was already asleep.
- 7:06Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I was out.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I don't know how, but I was out, and I
- 7:09Speaker 2: was like, whoa where did that rain? I mean, honestly, goodness, Ok,
- 7:12Speaker 2: matter of fact, actually, Spencer Atkins, you and I are
- 7:15Speaker 2: still very good friends.
- 7:16Speaker 6: I textament so about that rain.
- 7:18Speaker 3: He goes, yeah, this just kind of happened.
- 7:20Speaker 5: Yeah, it was.
- 7:21Speaker 2: One of those things that, yes, sometimes even we get surprised.
- 7:25Speaker 3: All right, all right, but people need to kind of
- 7:27Speaker 3: just be as they say, be weather alert, just kind
- 7:28Speaker 3: of keep an eye.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Very much so today. So in other words, no bus
- 7:32Speaker 2: is driving through low water exactly.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Well, if you're planning on walking, you might as well
- 7:36Speaker 5: catch the bus.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Right exactly, Yeah, all right, way to appreciate it. Man,
- 7:40Speaker 3: thanks a lot, meditated for sure, Man, nice shirt. I
- 7:44Speaker 3: got a pretty sure. I didn't get the I guess
- 7:48Speaker 3: I didn't get the memo, but the uniform change, all right, Brian,
- 7:52Speaker 3: thanks a lot. All right, So let's get back to
- 7:54Speaker 3: shan Hill KRC. I did want to talk about this,
- 7:58Speaker 3: the maintenance facility. We did the story by do you
- 8:00Speaker 3: guys got to do maintenance And it's for the first
- 8:01Speaker 3: time in how long gosh.
- 8:03Speaker 5: So we have an eighty five year old maintenance facility
- 8:06Speaker 5: over there on the west side of Charleston that's been
- 8:08Speaker 5: in you know, it was developed for street cars, et cetera.
- 8:11Speaker 5: You know, so it's about that should tell you.
- 8:12Speaker 2: So.
- 8:13Speaker 5: Yeah, so it gives you a little idea. And you know,
- 8:15Speaker 5: for years we've been attempting to get some federal funding
- 8:17Speaker 5: to help build a new maintenance facility that's kind of
- 8:20Speaker 5: right size. So instead of an eighty thousand foot street
- 8:23Speaker 5: car facility, we're talking about a twenty five to thirty
- 8:25Speaker 5: thousand foot state of the art facility. And I can't
- 8:28Speaker 5: say enough about my appreciation for our federal partners. So
- 8:30Speaker 5: we last September we received a twenty one million dollar
- 8:32Speaker 5: grant to help do that. We're now in the design
- 8:35Speaker 5: phase and working through that because you know, you can
- 8:37Speaker 5: have the best system on paper, but if you don't
- 8:39Speaker 5: have buses running, or if your buses are down for
- 8:42Speaker 5: a prolonged period because of your infrastructure, you know, it's
- 8:46Speaker 5: terrible for everyone. So it's kind of it's not as
- 8:48Speaker 5: exciting to our passengers, but to our entire system into
- 8:51Speaker 5: keeping things modernized and rolling forward. It's it's essential for us.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I see what you did, they're rolling for us. See
- 8:57Speaker 3: what you did there. Now you got to use it
- 8:58Speaker 3: for you got some public is coming up, because there's
- 9:01Speaker 3: some we've already seen changes with KRT there and there
- 9:05Speaker 3: could be more coming.
- 9:05Speaker 5: Exactly, and so we continue to try to find creative
- 9:08Speaker 5: ways to continue to deliver the service that our passengers
- 9:12Speaker 5: have come to depend upon, but also take into account
- 9:15Speaker 5: the budget realities that everyone you know across the board
- 9:17Speaker 5: are facing. So we are getting ready to schedule some
- 9:20Speaker 5: public hearings where we're going to go out and listen
- 9:22Speaker 5: to our passengers. We're going to throw out some ideas
- 9:25Speaker 5: for our board. You know, our board does a great
- 9:27Speaker 5: job of listening to the feedback from the passengers and
- 9:29Speaker 5: then coming to a conclusion of okay, this is these
- 9:32Speaker 5: are the realities. We've got to save some money somehow.
- 9:35Speaker 5: How do we do that in a way that minimizes
- 9:36Speaker 5: the impact to our passengers the most. One of the
- 9:40Speaker 5: first things we're going to do, though, is on July twentieth,
- 9:42Speaker 5: we're transitioning four of our current fixed routes over to
- 9:46Speaker 5: the KRT Plus. That's that on demand ride share ESK
- 9:49Speaker 5: service where you download an app or you call into
- 9:51Speaker 5: our office and we schedule a ride. So come July twentieth,
- 9:55Speaker 5: Route ten, eleven, sixteen, and eighteen are going to transition
- 9:58Speaker 5: to that KRT plus on demand service that allows us
- 10:02Speaker 5: to send out a smaller vehicle on demand, so we
- 10:04Speaker 5: come out on your schedule. You're not living on ours,
- 10:07Speaker 5: So that's a plus. It's still the same dollar fifty,
- 10:09Speaker 5: but instead of driving our buses around in circles all
- 10:12Speaker 5: day for sometimes nine people on Route eleven or you know,
- 10:16Speaker 5: eleven on Route eighteen, we'll send the smaller vans out
- 10:19Speaker 5: there whenever they're actually needed. That's going to save us
- 10:22Speaker 5: a couple hundred thousand dollars a year. So we're coming
- 10:25Speaker 5: up with creative ways to still serve individuals but save money.
- 10:29Speaker 5: And then we're going to go out to have some
- 10:31Speaker 5: deeper discussions and some tougher talks about how what changes
- 10:34Speaker 5: we need to make to make sure we can pay
- 10:35Speaker 5: the bills.
- 10:36Speaker 3: And when you say tougher decisions and talk, what were
- 10:39Speaker 3: we talking about?
- 10:40Speaker 5: Yeah, So what we're really talking about is looking at
- 10:42Speaker 5: the performance of certain routes, and it's looking about how
- 10:45Speaker 5: do we perform the core mission, which is obviously connecting
- 10:48Speaker 5: people to opportunities. So we've got to get people to work.
- 10:50Speaker 5: You know, I can't overemphasize how important KRT is to
- 10:53Speaker 5: our economy and workforce development. Get people to medical appointments,
- 10:57Speaker 5: get into grocery stores. How do we do that while
- 11:00Speaker 5: realizing we have almost a two million dollar deficit right now?
- 11:03Speaker 5: So you start looking at we've over the last couple
- 11:06Speaker 5: of years, We've done the easy things, which is the
- 11:08Speaker 5: administrative changes, some of the processes, et cetera. Now it's
- 11:11Speaker 5: the tough thing. So looking at different routes, what makes
- 11:13Speaker 5: sense for us to continue to run. You can only
- 11:15Speaker 5: minimize frequency so often before you have routes that don't
- 11:18Speaker 5: really sustain actual transit. They look like they do, but
- 11:21Speaker 5: they're just for appearances. Right, So so.
- 11:24Speaker 3: You're looking at a I think you said almost two million,
- 11:27Speaker 3: so it's like almost a two million dollar deficit exactly.
- 11:30Speaker 5: And how does that happen? I mean just yeah, I
- 11:33Speaker 5: mean just sure. So it's a great question. So it happens.
- 11:36Speaker 5: It doesn't happen overnight, but it happens. You know, COVID
- 11:40Speaker 5: had a big impact on public transit in a weird
- 11:42Speaker 5: way that I don't think people understand. You know, we
- 11:44Speaker 5: had almost two million passengers a year in pre COVID
- 11:48Speaker 5: times and now we've dropped down to about one million.
- 11:50Speaker 5: You know, these people didn't all get remote jobs. They
- 11:54Speaker 5: didn't all decide, hey, we're just not going to ride
- 11:56Speaker 5: the bus. But the transit community they're very resourceful, and
- 11:59Speaker 5: once they find in all tternative way to get to
- 12:01Speaker 5: wherever they're going, they're going to depend on themselves instead
- 12:03Speaker 5: of you know, public transit. When during COVID, that was tough.
- 12:06Speaker 5: So you lose a million passengers right there, A million
- 12:09Speaker 5: passengers times a dollar fifty, you're in a one point
- 12:11Speaker 5: five million dollar hole essentially. But everything gets more expensive.
- 12:15Speaker 5: We've seen that across the board with insurance prices, labor. Now,
- 12:20Speaker 5: we used to order a bus and and you know
- 12:23Speaker 5: you could get it in six to eight months. Now
- 12:25Speaker 5: it's an eighteen month turnaround. And those buses are now
- 12:27Speaker 5: almost six hundred thousand dollars of people.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Don't realize I think how much buses in general, whether
- 12:32Speaker 3: it's yours or school bus or what I mean, six
- 12:34Speaker 3: six of the average bus is six hundred thousand dollars.
- 12:36Speaker 5: Yeah, and so it's incredible, and you start talking about
- 12:39Speaker 5: we have forty nine buses and you know, how do
- 12:41Speaker 5: you make that work? So it's the tough things. It's
- 12:44Speaker 5: going out there to the public and presenting to them
- 12:46Speaker 5: different scenarios of okay, well, if we're going to make
- 12:48Speaker 5: this work, you can only pay your pay your bills
- 12:50Speaker 5: with your savings account for so long before you run out.
- 12:53Speaker 5: And we've done projections, and the last thing we want
- 12:56Speaker 5: to do is hit that point. So we're taking the
- 12:58Speaker 5: proactive approach saying, hey, we're a few years in advance
- 13:01Speaker 5: of this being a critical emergency. Let's make some deliberative
- 13:04Speaker 5: choices so we don't have to make an emergency decision.
- 13:07Speaker 5: You know, where we have no other options.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Talking with Sean Hill, KRT got a text question here
- 13:12Speaker 3: for you. Unlike Uber, will these buses only have one
- 13:15Speaker 3: pick up or will they go from one to I
- 13:18Speaker 3: have to stop here and get this person having two
- 13:20Speaker 3: different fairs at one time.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Yeah, so they are they maximize there's an algorithm that
- 13:25Speaker 5: maximizes our ability to pick up individuals so that you're
- 13:29Speaker 5: not guaranteed to ride by yourself if we can pick
- 13:32Speaker 5: up someone else in the area. That's kind of the
- 13:34Speaker 5: point is say, how can we maximize the ability for
- 13:38Speaker 5: these vans and our drivers to pick up as many
- 13:40Speaker 5: people as possible. We have certain rules of when you
- 13:43Speaker 5: get picked up. You have a time frame of when
- 13:44Speaker 5: you have to be dropped off. So if if picking
- 13:47Speaker 5: up Dave and then picking up Brian makes it so
- 13:50Speaker 5: that you don't get to your appointment in time, then
- 13:52Speaker 5: the system's not going to allow me to pick up Brian.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Tell him he's punished for not being on time. So
- 13:58Speaker 5: you'll get a ride, but the other person won't. So
- 13:59Speaker 5: it is ride share, and again that's to maximize the
- 14:02Speaker 5: cost efficiency of that. But it's not going to be
- 14:05Speaker 5: like an Uber where you can pay a little more
- 14:07Speaker 5: and ride by yourself.
- 14:07Speaker 3: All right, Now, you're going to let us know about
- 14:09Speaker 3: these public hearings, right, yes, I'll have you when When
- 14:11Speaker 3: is the first one?
- 14:13Speaker 5: We don't have it scheduled yet. So the first thing
- 14:14Speaker 5: we're doing is transitioning us four routes, and we want
- 14:16Speaker 5: to make sure that and hit those four routes again. Yes,
- 14:18Speaker 5: those four routes are Route ten, eleven, sixteen, and eighteen,
- 14:21Speaker 5: So that's City Park Works, Avenue, South Park, and Fort Hill.
- 14:23Speaker 5: That's going to happen on July twentieth. We want to
- 14:26Speaker 5: make sure we get that out of the way. We're
- 14:27Speaker 5: going to do a public information campaign and thank you
- 14:29Speaker 5: for having us here. That's the first stop of that campaign,
- 14:32Speaker 5: making sure we get the info out on the buses
- 14:34Speaker 5: down at the city Center, online, et cetera, so that
- 14:37Speaker 5: people can understand and learn that system as they move
- 14:40Speaker 5: over to kr T plus. And then in the coming months,
- 14:43Speaker 5: we're going to get the information out and hold a
- 14:44Speaker 5: series of public hearings.
- 14:46Speaker 3: All right, and remind remind me to remind you. I
- 14:48Speaker 3: want to have you back on you know, before those
- 14:50Speaker 3: changes have We have one final text here and we
- 14:53Speaker 3: let you go how far out will these buses go,
- 14:55Speaker 3: so Assistantville Clendon and LF you. Yeah.
- 14:58Speaker 5: So the KRT Plus program, there are six zones and
- 15:01Speaker 5: so it's got and they are centered around Kart's headquarters.
- 15:05Speaker 5: So we've got East Charleston, West Charleston, We've got Kanaw City,
- 15:09Speaker 5: South Hills, South Ridge, and South Charleston. So the system
- 15:14Speaker 5: works when you're in an area close to where your
- 15:16Speaker 5: vehicles are. I'm not going to pretend that it works
- 15:19Speaker 5: as well the further you spread out. That would require
- 15:21Speaker 5: us to have way more employees and way more vehicles
- 15:24Speaker 5: to accommodate. If someone in Cistonville or and Montgomery says, hey,
- 15:27Speaker 5: I need picked up and taken to an appointment, the
- 15:29Speaker 5: system doesn't work really well when we tell you, hey,
- 15:31Speaker 5: it's going to be forty five minutes or an hour
- 15:33Speaker 5: before we come get you. So it is those six
- 15:35Speaker 5: zones that currently exist. I'm not anticipating us expanding those
- 15:40Speaker 5: zones much more right now, but the data shows we're
- 15:43Speaker 5: able to with our current staff perform our service in
- 15:46Speaker 5: those six areas, so we know we can accommodate it.
- 15:48Speaker 5: We've done an eight month trial program to make sure
- 15:51Speaker 5: it'll work, and now it's just actually turning it on
- 15:53Speaker 5: and saying hey, you know, for the individuals who've been
- 15:55Speaker 5: writing fixed Route, now you can use this charity plus.
- 15:58Speaker 3: So all right, well have you back on as we
- 16:00Speaker 3: get a little closer to the thistlit date. Jean, thanks you,
- 16:01Speaker 3: s thanks for being here. Sean Stale KRTV Dave Island

- 19:27Speaker 3: him the question, and the question was could you reserve
- 19:30Speaker 3: a bus a day ahead of time? If you live
- 19:31Speaker 3: out of town, then you can reserve a bus up
- 19:34Speaker 3: to or a ride up to fourteen days in advance.

- 19:45Speaker 3: story now? Because you walked in the door. We need
- 19:47Speaker 3: to make sure you show that to Chris Lawrence. By
- 19:49Speaker 3: the way, you said, look at this, look at you
- 19:51Speaker 3: hand me your phone and you got a begging huh.
- 19:52Speaker 11: So I.
- 19:55Speaker 13: I fished a section lower Gally and I went last night.
- 19:57Speaker 13: It was my Father's Day gift to me, right, it's me.
- 20:00Speaker 8: It was great. So I'm not catching. I'm throwing a
- 20:04Speaker 8: huge bait and I'm not catching a lot.
- 20:06Speaker 13: But right when I get in front of Larry Grocer's cabin,
- 20:09Speaker 13: I cooked a seventeen.
- 20:13Speaker 8: And I said it to him. Immediately he is, that's
- 20:16Speaker 8: reserved for my friends.
- 20:17Speaker 1: He text me back.
- 20:18Speaker 8: So those are reserve for my friends.
- 20:20Speaker 13: So a small mouth, small mouth past, Yeah, that's about
- 20:24Speaker 13: all I fish for it.
- 20:25Speaker 3: You're looking fish. I mean, I'm not a big fisherman,
- 20:26Speaker 3: but it's oh yeah, that's it's big fish.
- 20:29Speaker 8: That's quality.
- 20:29Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 20:30Speaker 13: The twenty twenty is what you're going for. You're going
- 20:32Speaker 13: for the Every time you get in the boat, you're
- 20:33Speaker 13: looking for the.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Twenty Okay, all right, all right. So the reason you're
- 20:37Speaker 3: here you text me last week and you said, I
- 20:39Speaker 3: want to talk about World Cup. Your assignment Rusty used
- 20:42Speaker 3: to make me care about the world cup Well.
- 20:45Speaker 13: First of all, the world is where they called a sleepover.
- 20:53Speaker 13: You probably haven't kept up with that, but they calling
- 20:55Speaker 13: it the greatest sleepover ever. So all these Internet national
- 21:00Speaker 13: people coming to the United States and they are overwhelmed
- 21:04Speaker 13: with what we have here.
- 21:06Speaker 1: You know what, we take what you not.
- 21:08Speaker 13: You and I take for granted, but most people take
- 21:10Speaker 13: for granted, and they're just blown away. And any criticism
- 21:16Speaker 13: that has been going on about this country has been
- 21:18Speaker 13: drowned out by all of these posts on social media
- 21:24Speaker 13: buying the Europeans, especially the British, especially the BUCkies, the
- 21:31Speaker 13: vast pro shop, branch dressing, branch dressing, I mean, free refills.
- 21:37Speaker 13: I mean, it's things you just don't get over there
- 21:39Speaker 13: or anywhere. Right when I say over there, it could
- 21:42Speaker 13: be anywhere. But it's it's just a great and it's
- 21:45Speaker 13: happening at our most I had I have on here
- 21:49Speaker 13: Come America had on our two hundred and fiftieth anniversary.
- 21:53Speaker 13: And so many naysayers are like, this is going to
- 21:56Speaker 13: be a flop, They're going to hate us, and they
- 21:59Speaker 13: love us.
- 22:01Speaker 3: I hadn't thought about it, absolutely loved. I was reading
- 22:04Speaker 3: an article yesterday about this and and it was an
- 22:06Speaker 3: article online and it and it contained in it various
- 22:10Speaker 3: video clips from you know, YouTube, TikTok and whatever. And
- 22:13Speaker 3: they were saying, you like these British people or or
- 22:16Speaker 3: for like anywhere, just saying I totally misjudged you. And
- 22:21Speaker 3: I guess they had this image that America was like
- 22:24Speaker 3: and it and look it can be from time to time.
- 22:28Speaker 3: But but but they're saying, we thought that as soon
- 22:30Speaker 3: as we got off the plane we were going to
- 22:32Speaker 3: be accosted by people with guns, and we thought all this, Yeah,
- 22:35Speaker 3: and they talked about how nice people are, and I'm
- 22:37Speaker 3: not talking about people in West Virginia, talking about people
- 22:41Speaker 3: where they're playing in Dallas and wherever they are playing these.
- 22:44Speaker 5: Things right and.
- 22:48Speaker 13: On God, I saw one guy is like, he's like,
- 22:51Speaker 13: what kind of boat? He goes it's a bass Bogers
- 22:53Speaker 13: and wanted to take a ride. He's like, he's riding
- 22:55Speaker 13: a bass.
- 22:55Speaker 8: But like things that you just they just.
- 22:58Speaker 13: It's it's a cultural and I think the variety just
- 23:03Speaker 13: and we don't do it. We don't take advantage of either.
- 23:04Speaker 13: If you go to one or two of our national parks,
- 23:07Speaker 13: it will blow you away, especially being somebody from another country.
- 23:13Speaker 13: When I just you know, side note. When I went
- 23:16Speaker 13: to Yosemite, Rob and I it was like a religious experience. Man,
- 23:20Speaker 13: I'm telling you it is so daggone beautiful, just huge.
- 23:24Speaker 8: But here's the best part. And you don't even know.
- 23:28Speaker 8: I mean, I guess you don't even know about it.
- 23:30Speaker 13: The unofficial song of the World Cup is Country Road Roads.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I do know that.
- 23:36Speaker 3: I actually heard a story that Daniel and Christ did
- 23:39Speaker 3: in the Morning News when I was driving in this
- 23:40Speaker 3: morning about that amazing.
- 23:42Speaker 13: So the Scotts started doing it in Boston and then
- 23:46Speaker 13: at the Australia US. Where was it in Portland, Oregon?
- 23:51Speaker 13: I guess the entire crowd sing it after the game.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I mean, come on, it's a.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Song that came out in nineteen seventy one, by the way.
- 24:00Speaker 8: And here's the thing.
- 24:03Speaker 13: We've got to jump on these opportunities, Dave, you know,
- 24:07Speaker 13: we've got to start. We've got listen, no criticism against
- 24:10Speaker 13: tourism or Chelsea. Right, she does a great job and
- 24:13Speaker 13: she probably doesn't have that flexibility. But man, we should
- 24:16Speaker 13: be buying spot spot ads wherever we can and say,
- 24:20Speaker 13: visit the state that inspired the song, you know, get
- 24:24Speaker 13: those people back over here, Get them to West Virginia.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Chris told me about, or actually said this on the
- 24:29Speaker 3: air this morning. Chris Lawrence was in Detroit for a
- 24:34Speaker 3: Tigers and White Sox game over the weekend. The crowd
- 24:36Speaker 3: started breaking out into Country Roads. Yeah, listen, Robin gets
- 24:40Speaker 3: mad at me. But every time I go, when I
- 24:43Speaker 3: go away to a foreign country or Hawaii for that matter,
- 24:51Speaker 3: I'll say where you're from, and I'll say West Virginia
- 24:53Speaker 3: and they'll kind of give me this perplexed look, and
- 24:54Speaker 3: I'll go Country Roads and I go, oh, they go,
- 24:57Speaker 3: oh yeah the song Country Roads, And then I'll ask
- 24:59Speaker 3: them to in videotape it.
- 25:02Speaker 8: So it's my thing.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Man.
- 25:04Speaker 13: At the uh god, they were singing it at in
- 25:09Speaker 13: Paris at the one of the big Gosh, I can't
- 25:13Speaker 13: think it to.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Paris, France, not Paris to see it, by the way.
- 25:16Speaker 13: Yeah, they were singing it at Montclair. I think one
- 25:20Speaker 13: day I heard him up there.
- 25:21Speaker 3: I can tell you. And I've told this story in
- 25:23Speaker 3: the air before when Landau was in China. Yeah, uh,
- 25:27Speaker 3: and the taxi driver picked him up. He said, and
- 25:30Speaker 3: I'm not gonna there's no way you can do the
- 25:32Speaker 3: accent without making you sound you know correctly, I'm not
- 25:35Speaker 3: going to do the accent. But but but the driver
- 25:38Speaker 3: asked him, he said where are you from? And he
- 25:39Speaker 3: said West Virginia and the driver in China started singing
- 25:44Speaker 3: country that was about ten years ago, China.
- 25:47Speaker 13: I'll have taxi my uber drivers. I'll do the same
- 25:50Speaker 13: thing when they asked me where I'm from. One one
- 25:53Speaker 13: will break out in the country roads and I'll video
- 25:55Speaker 13: and I always you'll see it on my on my
- 25:58Speaker 13: Facebook page.
- 25:58Speaker 8: I posted every time on a can all.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Right, Texas. In regards to all these videos of the
- 26:03Speaker 3: soccer fans love it America. News flash to all you
- 26:06Speaker 3: little democratic socialists, that's all capitalism.
- 26:09Speaker 13: Yeah yeah, I wasn't gonna say anything about the park.
- 26:12Speaker 13: I was going to keep it all positive. But it
- 26:13Speaker 13: has literally been drowned out. Like like even the even
- 26:18Speaker 13: the you know, the the big media is is on
- 26:21Speaker 13: board for this, I mean, which is weird. They usually
- 26:24Speaker 13: find somebody to complain about something, right right, but uh wow,
- 26:29Speaker 13: it's just amazing. In the in the the Norway does
- 26:33Speaker 13: their Viking thing. Man, and here's the core. Here's what
- 26:36Speaker 13: here's what you're seeing. So we don't we don't cheer.
- 26:39Speaker 13: They're cheering is different. I mean what they do is
- 26:44Speaker 13: they go into a stadium and it's NonStop. I mean
- 26:47Speaker 13: it's like there's a soccer match happened to be going
- 26:50Speaker 13: on while they're cheering, and it's.
- 26:52Speaker 8: More of a song thing than what we do.
- 26:54Speaker 13: We we do more chant, you know, let's go out
- 26:57Speaker 13: near as we are, Marshall uh in the flagwave and
- 27:01Speaker 13: it goes on and on and on and it never stops.
- 27:04Speaker 13: So what happens is they came over here and we
- 27:08Speaker 13: don't have that. We all we have is USA, right,
- 27:11Speaker 13: So what we're doing is in the middle of the
- 27:13Speaker 13: World Cup, we're trying to adapt USA to some kind
- 27:17Speaker 13: of European style, like they're teaching us, you know, how
- 27:21Speaker 13: we can kind of riven up. And I think, listen,
- 27:24Speaker 13: I think it's going to help soccer worldwide. I think
- 27:27Speaker 13: it's going to help soccer certainly in the United States,
- 27:30Speaker 13: which frankly doesn't need a lot of help.
- 27:32Speaker 8: It's it's moving up huge popularity.
- 27:36Speaker 5: But it's just.
- 27:40Speaker 13: Everything is positive about this thing, and nobody can take
- 27:43Speaker 13: away take that away.
- 27:45Speaker 8: It's just really good.
- 27:46Speaker 3: You break God bless the USA enough.
- 27:49Speaker 13: Well, I saw this is not true, but I saw
- 27:52Speaker 13: this one British guy say it's not true. That actually
- 27:57Speaker 13: X corrected me when I posted it. True, but he says,
- 28:01Speaker 13: he says, my understanding is that we're the Brits are
- 28:04Speaker 13: playing the US in Philadelphia.
- 28:07Speaker 1: On July fourth, Like, how fair is that?
- 28:10Speaker 8: You know what I mean?
- 28:11Speaker 3: It wasn't true, but it made a good story.
- 28:14Speaker 8: But it made a really good story.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Right, So what's the what's the status of the US
- 28:18Speaker 3: right now? Because again I I need to be watching this,
- 28:21Speaker 3: So what's the status of the UN Well, I.
- 28:23Speaker 13: Know we'd beat Australia, I haven't you know, and I
- 28:27Speaker 13: don't think we've played since then, But I haven't.
- 28:29Speaker 8: I haven't kept up.
- 28:30Speaker 1: I can't, I can't more.
- 28:31Speaker 3: You've been more concerned with the sociological aspect.
- 28:34Speaker 13: Yeah, because you know me, I'm positive I promote West
- 28:39Speaker 13: Virginia and when I finally see my country come together
- 28:45Speaker 13: because of a bunch of Europeans are loving us, or
- 28:47Speaker 13: a bunch of world or loving us, and now we're uniting,
- 28:51Speaker 13: that's that's phenomenona.
- 28:52Speaker 3: All right, here's your negative Texas. Now just let me
- 28:56Speaker 3: read it and then I'll get you out of here.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Word around the internet is the White House is doing
- 28:59Speaker 3: p are control because England, Australia, Scotland and New Zealand
- 29:03Speaker 3: fans have catchy chants about Trump and the Epstein files.
- 29:09Speaker 8: How did we pick up those those particular fans are?
- 29:13Speaker 1: What there?
- 29:14Speaker 3: What the texture is saying that England, Australia, Scotland and
- 29:19Speaker 3: New Zealand fans have chants about Trump and the Epstein files.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Have chance chance like they're chanting something about Trump and
- 29:26Speaker 3: the Epstein.
- 29:27Speaker 13: I don't know if they are. If they are, haven't
- 29:30Speaker 13: seen it. But you know, the algorithm is gonna give
- 29:32Speaker 13: me positive feedback.
- 29:33Speaker 8: You know how that works. So if they are, I'm
- 29:36Speaker 8: not all.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Right, Rusty, you got me. I'm gonna I'll follow it
- 29:40Speaker 3: and listen.

- 32:50Speaker 8: I'm doing fun.
- 32:51Speaker 3: You came in here, the big smile on your face
- 32:53Speaker 3: this morning?
- 32:54Speaker 8: Why not?
- 32:55Speaker 3: Well? Why not? Why not you follow this? Have even
- 32:57Speaker 3: follow this World Cup stuff at all? Because Rusties convinced
- 33:00Speaker 3: me that now need I need to be a fan
- 33:03Speaker 3: of it, he said. But then I asked him, I said, so,
- 33:05Speaker 3: how's the USA doing? He couldn't tell me that he
- 33:08Speaker 3: was just he's all caught up in the in the
- 33:10Speaker 3: hype and the hoopla over you know, Country Roads and
- 33:14Speaker 3: that whole deal.
- 33:14Speaker 8: But it's all right, well, that's that's that's a good deal,
- 33:17Speaker 8: you know Country Roads. Now, I want you to picture this, okay.
- 33:23Speaker 8: I had just gotten back from Vietnam, and I'm laying
- 33:27Speaker 8: in a bunk in Eltro Marine Corps station which is
- 33:32Speaker 8: no longer there out in California, with my headphones on
- 33:37Speaker 8: which a lot of guys would just lay in their bunks,
- 33:39Speaker 8: and they had lockers with all their equipment in it,
- 33:42Speaker 8: and they would listen to the radio or whatever they
- 33:45Speaker 8: were listening to on the headphones. And I heard Country Roads,
- 33:50Speaker 8: and I'm not yet twenty one years old, and I
- 33:55Speaker 8: kept listening. I said what And then in seventy two,
- 34:00Speaker 8: I'm out of the service and I'm here. Governor Moore
- 34:04Speaker 8: was governor, and John Denver came and played on the boulevard, okay,
- 34:10Speaker 8: and Governor Moore gave him a check for five grand.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Of course, he also played at the opening a mountaineer
- 34:15Speaker 3: field in nineteen eighty, the new field up there as well.
- 34:18Speaker 3: I don't know if whether you've heard Dave Wilson tell
- 34:20Speaker 3: this story or not, but one of Dave's mentors in
- 34:23Speaker 3: radio was a gentleman and I think it was a
- 34:26Speaker 3: WMV in Ravenswood, which now I owe by Tom Susman WMV.
- 34:31Speaker 3: There was this gentleman that was again a mentor to Wilson.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Got I guess a John Denver album in or a
- 34:39Speaker 3: forty five or something like that, and saw this so
- 34:41Speaker 3: on Country Roads and thought, well, I'll just give it
- 34:43Speaker 3: a listen. And he listened to it, and he played it,
- 34:47Speaker 3: and it was never supposed to be a single. He
- 34:50Speaker 3: was the first guy, a guy in West Virginia was
- 34:52Speaker 3: the first guy who ever played country roads on the radio.
- 34:54Speaker 3: The record company wasn't happy about it. Record company is
- 34:58Speaker 3: calling him one hey cause you know, back in the
- 34:59Speaker 3: old days, you know you've been around a while, they
- 35:02Speaker 3: had they would and artist would release an album, and
- 35:05Speaker 3: they had certain cuts. This is going to be the
- 35:06Speaker 3: first single, this is going to be the second single.
- 35:08Speaker 3: It's all planned out the way it used to be anyway.
- 35:11Speaker 3: And so this guy, he decides to play country roads. Obviously,
- 35:14Speaker 3: you start playing a song about West Virginia on on
- 35:17Speaker 3: rock radio country radio, people are going to go nuts
- 35:20Speaker 3: wanting to hear it. It spread like wildfire, and the
- 35:23Speaker 3: record company calls and goes, hey, what are you doing
- 35:25Speaker 3: that's not supposed to be played? And he said, well,
- 35:27Speaker 3: look at how many requests I've got for this song.
- 35:30Speaker 3: So then they released it as a single. That's a
- 35:32Speaker 3: true story.
- 35:33Speaker 8: I didn't know that. I wonder where year that was.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Well, seventy one is when the song came out.
- 35:37Speaker 8: Well that's when I first heard it.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it was in seventy one. Text said a great
- 35:41Speaker 3: interview with Rusty. This country roads thing is nuts, says
- 35:46Speaker 3: a texture. All right, So I wanted to ask you
- 35:49Speaker 3: this past weekend. Of course we had all the cyclists
- 35:52Speaker 3: in this past week and everything. Did you get a
- 35:54Speaker 3: chance to take in any of the USA Pro Road
- 35:56Speaker 3: Championships while you were here on? Because it ran right
- 35:59Speaker 3: by your place? That's why I'm asking, did you know?
- 36:02Speaker 8: How can you take it in?
- 36:03Speaker 3: You couldn't move, But I mean it's right there by
- 36:06Speaker 3: where you live.
- 36:07Speaker 8: I see them drive down the street.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Well, a lot of people enjoyed it.
- 36:11Speaker 8: I mean, well, I'm glad they did.
- 36:12Speaker 3: You see the parties up in South Hills that they
- 36:14Speaker 3: had it.
- 36:14Speaker 8: Now And I'm not knocking it, okay, I'm just saying downtown. Now,
- 36:19Speaker 8: a lot of businesses like Corey Diner and like Starbucks
- 36:27Speaker 8: on the boulevard. It it's heard them. But you know,
- 36:34Speaker 8: that's one thing that happens when you have a big
- 36:36Speaker 8: event like.
- 36:37Speaker 5: That, right.
- 36:38Speaker 3: But there's some businesses that that just relished it. I
- 36:41Speaker 3: mean some of the bars and stuff. I know, people
- 36:43Speaker 3: down like places like five Street and those they loved it.
- 36:47Speaker 8: How did they get there?
- 36:49Speaker 9: People?
- 36:50Speaker 3: When people come out a lot of these people when
- 36:51Speaker 3: they come out to these things, they parked two or
- 36:54Speaker 3: three streets over and they plan on staying there. And
- 36:56Speaker 3: this town, I mean, I didn't take a lot of
- 36:58Speaker 3: it in.
- 36:58Speaker 8: I'm not knocking it either.
- 37:00Speaker 3: I'm not either for it, but I'm just saying that
- 37:03Speaker 3: it brings a lot of money into Charleston as well. Okay,
- 37:08Speaker 3: it does, all right, Okay, it's easily easily traceable, you
- 37:13Speaker 3: know from your cell phone it.
- 37:16Speaker 8: Okay, I mean, I hope. So that's what it's there for.
- 37:21Speaker 8: And it's uh, they got two.
- 37:22Speaker 3: More years on it, yes, I think two two or three?
- 37:27Speaker 5: Two or three?
- 37:28Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, all right, all right, Uh so I want
- 37:33Speaker 3: to ask you about Trump, about President Trump, where do
- 37:35Speaker 3: we start? Iran New air Force one his expletives on
- 37:39Speaker 3: Fox News. His truth social post about Democrats is viewed
- 37:43Speaker 3: with Italy. Where do we go?
- 37:45Speaker 8: Well, the thing with Italy was was just being him
- 37:50Speaker 8: being himself. Uh too, you believe why would he say
- 37:55Speaker 8: something like that about the prime minister over there?
- 38:00Speaker 3: Because he's Donald Trump. That's what he does.
- 38:01Speaker 8: Yeah. Well, I watch a show on Sunday night. I
- 38:06Speaker 8: don't watch it, then I tape it and like I
- 38:08Speaker 8: listened to it this morning, Trey Gowdy Sunday Night in America.
- 38:13Speaker 8: I'd recommend it to anybody. He had Mike Pence on there,
- 38:18Speaker 8: and he asked Pence about and pencils are very delicate
- 38:22Speaker 8: and the way he went through this, but he called
- 38:26Speaker 8: what's going with iran appeasement. That's pretty strong.
- 38:31Speaker 4: It is.
- 38:32Speaker 3: It is, And there's a lot of people, I mean,
- 38:34Speaker 3: on both sides of the owl that aren't happy with
- 38:36Speaker 3: the deal. And I mean, look, I can, I can
- 38:39Speaker 3: come on and talk about the notes that I that
- 38:41Speaker 3: I have on the agreement, but that was I was
- 38:45Speaker 3: working on that at seven thirty this morning. That's already
- 38:47Speaker 3: outdated by now.
- 38:48Speaker 11: You know.
- 38:49Speaker 3: That's how that's how these things are constantly changing.
- 38:51Speaker 8: Well, first, thing. They opened up the street and then
- 38:58Speaker 8: Lebanon bombed Israel, so Israel bomb Lebanon, and so then
- 39:06Speaker 8: they closed the straight. I mean, it's it's a joke,
- 39:11Speaker 8: it's it's it's and he just wants out now, he
- 39:17Speaker 8: just wants out of it. And if if you're going
- 39:21Speaker 8: to start something, you have to finish it. And he
- 39:24Speaker 8: never he never finished.
- 39:25Speaker 3: That's what yesterday I was watching the ABC News show
- 39:29Speaker 3: and Chris Christy was on there and and and and
- 39:32Speaker 3: that's what Chris Christie said is, look, this thing started
- 39:36Speaker 3: off with really really good intentions. The majority of people
- 39:39Speaker 3: were behind it, but there was no real plan as
- 39:43Speaker 3: to as to how it was going to happen. Even
- 39:45Speaker 3: military experts have said that that you don't know what
- 39:48Speaker 3: the mission is, and some and and some, and we
- 39:51Speaker 3: don't know what the end game was. And here we
- 39:54Speaker 3: are several months later, and we we still don't know
- 39:56Speaker 3: what the endgame was. I mean, we everybody knows that
- 39:59Speaker 3: we wanted to obliterate the nuclear capabilities of Iran. We
- 40:04Speaker 3: get that. That's question was to whether that was done
- 40:07Speaker 3: or not. Because that goes back and forth.
- 40:10Speaker 8: General Keane said, Ron's gonna get rid of their nuclear stuff.
- 40:20Speaker 8: He bought up the facts. We didn't let the Nazis
- 40:26Speaker 8: denazify Germany. We did it. And the same thing with Japan.
- 40:33Speaker 8: Douglas MacArthur was in charge of Japan for a while.
- 40:39Speaker 8: And it's a joke. What's going on right now?
- 40:43Speaker 3: So what happens next?
- 40:45Speaker 8: No, I don't see anything good. I just I agree
- 40:50Speaker 8: with Mike Pence to peacement. You know, it's it's it's
- 40:58Speaker 8: just not gonna well his stay when it comes see,
- 41:02Speaker 8: I think forgive me. I just think Vant is an amateur.
- 41:07Speaker 8: Jedd Vans, Yeah, it ought to be Rubya should be
- 41:10Speaker 8: over there and negotiating. But maybe that's what Trump wants.
- 41:18Speaker 8: Maybe he just said, get me out of this.

- 43:15Speaker 5: I did that?
- 43:15Speaker 3: I don't know the texter. Who do they play next?
- 43:19Speaker 3: The US's two and O has a match left in
- 43:20Speaker 3: pool play, They've won their group and we'll move on
- 43:22Speaker 3: to the knockout stage and round of sixteen. Let me
- 43:26Speaker 3: read you this post and I reference this earlier. This
- 43:29Speaker 3: was on truth social from the President, he says, and
- 43:33Speaker 3: he's doing a poll, which do you prefer dumbocrat or
- 43:38Speaker 3: dumb with a B ocrat. In one case, you simply
- 43:41Speaker 3: exchange the E for the U, So simple and precise.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Many people don't know or assume that dumb ends in
- 43:48Speaker 3: a B. In other case, you spell out dumb do
- 43:51Speaker 3: U N B. But it seems to lose some of
- 43:53Speaker 3: this identity to Democrats when done this way, which is better.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Thank you for your attention to this very important matter.
- 44:00Speaker 3: This was a poll and he and he wrote out
- 44:02Speaker 3: dumbocrat d U M O c r A T. Or
- 44:06Speaker 3: do you m B zero?
- 44:09Speaker 5: I'm zero?
- 44:10Speaker 3: Sorry r H c r A T. My My thought
- 44:15Speaker 3: is as president of the United States, don't you have
- 44:19Speaker 3: something better to do? Gess what I mean? Look, I
- 44:22Speaker 3: appreciate humor. I do appreciate it.
- 44:23Speaker 8: That's not funny, but it's not I mean.
- 44:27Speaker 3: And that's that's real. That's not that wasn't fake. That's
- 44:30Speaker 3: absolutely real. He took time.
- 44:33Speaker 8: Did you did you watch that joke I sent you
- 44:36Speaker 8: about the waff of House?
- 44:37Speaker 2: No?
- 44:37Speaker 3: I did not. I still have it.
- 44:40Speaker 8: That's funny. Now you want to watch him? That's funny?
- 44:42Speaker 5: All right? All right?
- 44:44Speaker 3: So as we celebrate get ready to celebrate America's two
- 44:49Speaker 3: hundred and fiftieth birthday. Here there's t J does a
- 44:55Speaker 3: really good commentary today. I have to give the boy credit. Uh,
- 44:58Speaker 3: he always does good commentaries. But his commentary today was
- 45:01Speaker 3: about the reflective pool and how America should be more
- 45:06Speaker 3: concerned about other things. But we're all arguing about a
- 45:09Speaker 3: body of water. With all the problems that we have
- 45:13Speaker 3: in America. Do you think sometimes it's somebody and I
- 45:15Speaker 3: know the end, I know my opinion, I'll get yours
- 45:18Speaker 3: that sometimes the President just does stupid things to take
- 45:22Speaker 3: attention off of other things.
- 45:24Speaker 8: No, I don't think so. I don't think he did
- 45:26Speaker 8: the reflected pool. I mean, because he doesn't look good
- 45:30Speaker 8: on that. I mean, I don't know who planned who's
- 45:33Speaker 8: planning all these things, the reflected pool, all the paints
- 45:40Speaker 8: coming off.
- 45:41Speaker 3: I mean, I heard about a three minute clip this
- 45:44Speaker 3: morning on Morning in America with the President talking about
- 45:50Speaker 3: how this was the greatest thing ever. And he went
- 45:52Speaker 3: on to explain the type of paint that was used,
- 45:56Speaker 3: and this is the greatest thing ever. And it looked
- 45:58Speaker 3: and I'm sitting there thinking, what am I listening to?
- 46:01Speaker 8: It's coming off?
- 46:02Speaker 3: What am I listening to here?
- 46:04Speaker 8: Why do you mess with it at all? Why mess
- 46:07Speaker 8: with a lot of stuff? Now? The thing he's building
- 46:13Speaker 8: at the White House that he didn't talk about, nobody
- 46:16Speaker 8: knew about, He's just started tearing stuff apart. If it
- 46:20Speaker 8: comes out the way it's supposed to, nobody will want
- 46:25Speaker 8: to say they were against it. But we don't know.
- 46:28Speaker 8: And now he's asking for money for it. It was
- 46:31Speaker 8: supposed to be paid for it privately. I mean, I
- 46:36Speaker 8: think we need something like that, But you would think
- 46:39Speaker 8: there'd been some buy in from somebody else. You just
- 46:43Speaker 8: don't start tearing the White House apart.
- 46:45Speaker 3: But Ave Island showing five eighty line brought to you

- 46:57Speaker 3: Cabler's column? I read it this morning on in Sunday's
- 47:01Speaker 3: Yeah or well yeah the weekend paper. Yeah, about the
- 47:06Speaker 3: possibility that the whole thing at the Correspondence dinner was staged.
- 47:12Speaker 5: I don't.
- 47:12Speaker 8: I don't believe that.
- 47:14Speaker 3: The thing about these events being staged, and it's been
- 47:16Speaker 3: you know, everything from Butler Pennsylvania to this is you'd
- 47:20Speaker 3: have to have the buy in of everybody involved, and
- 47:23Speaker 3: somebody eventually is going to crack. Somebody eventually is.
- 47:26Speaker 8: Going to Yeah, no, he's he's getting beside himself on
- 47:32Speaker 8: that one, that it's it wasn't staged.
- 47:34Speaker 10: It was.
- 47:35Speaker 8: I thought it was a lax and security quite frankly.
- 47:38Speaker 3: But I guess the point was is that in years
- 47:40Speaker 3: past there had been a lot more security at this event,
- 47:43Speaker 3: and the security was laxed this time. And why did
- 47:46Speaker 3: they suddenly change it when you have the a very
- 47:49Speaker 3: unpopular president. I know how poperary is in West Virginia,
- 47:53Speaker 3: but outside West Virginia you have a very unpopular president.
- 47:56Speaker 3: Why would you not beef it up to the hilt.
- 48:00Speaker 8: We'll see how popular he is in the elections in November.
- 48:08Speaker 3: Yeah, do you think it's going to be a bloodbath
- 48:11Speaker 3: like people think it is.
- 48:13Speaker 8: Let's see where gas prices are.
- 48:19Speaker 5: Stuff.
- 48:19Speaker 3: They're going down. Gas prices are going down.
- 48:21Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 48:21Speaker 3: We don't know for how long they're going down, but
- 48:23Speaker 3: they're going down.
- 48:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 48:24Speaker 8: Hey, do you remember what you were doing in nineteen
- 48:27Speaker 8: seventy six?
- 48:29Speaker 3: I was six years old? Okay, why that was the
- 48:35Speaker 3: two Oh yeah, actually I do, I do. I was
- 48:39Speaker 3: not quite sick because I turned I would have turned
- 48:41Speaker 3: six in September. My father took me to Ohio to
- 48:46Speaker 3: visit some of his family, and I was telling us
- 48:49Speaker 3: about the story the other day. I remember I was
- 48:51Speaker 3: five years old driving through all these little towns Springfield
- 48:54Speaker 3: and New Carlisle, these towns around Dayton, Ohio. And seeing
- 48:57Speaker 3: as a kid, just look as my dad left the
- 49:00Speaker 3: at like six o'clock in the mornings, we were on
- 49:01Speaker 3: the road just looking at how patriotic everything. Well, now
- 49:04Speaker 3: I'm a kid then, But.
- 49:07Speaker 8: Do you know, do you remember in Godfather Too that
- 49:11Speaker 8: where they stayed at the Hotel Washington, Well, that's where
- 49:15Speaker 8: I was. And down the street there was the Willard
- 49:19Speaker 8: wasn't wasn't redone yet it was claw closed up and
- 49:24Speaker 8: past the Willard was was based in sidewalk cafe. And
- 49:31Speaker 8: I sat down there and I was with somebody, and
- 49:34Speaker 8: I sat down there at one o'clock and I left
- 49:37Speaker 8: at one in the morning, and I wasn't walking that Well.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Well, it's one way to put it, all right, but
- 49:47Speaker 3: I have a good time. Tex says, you know, the
- 49:50Speaker 3: show has become basically a Trump bashed fest, because I
- 49:53Speaker 3: never hear either of you honestly say anything positive. It's
- 49:57Speaker 3: hard that he's done. By the way, the reflecting there
- 50:00Speaker 3: was actually an Olympic kayaker that was arrested for damage
- 50:03Speaker 3: in the pool over the weekend.
- 50:05Speaker 8: Well, i'd like to be able to say something. I
- 50:09Speaker 8: supported him on Israel and initially supported him on this
- 50:14Speaker 8: Iran thing, but it's turned into quite a mess. And
- 50:21Speaker 8: what to see what he comes up with. But you
- 50:24Speaker 8: know Ron's ridiculing him.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, so Texas Lord of Guy day. There
- 50:31Speaker 3: will be no election blood bath. Nobody ever talks about
- 50:33Speaker 3: Democrats are less popular than Republicans.
- 50:36Speaker 8: I don't believe that's going to be it. And you
- 50:38Speaker 8: know that's Democrat. He can take responsibility. Trump can take responsibility.
- 50:45Speaker 8: I'll leave everybody with this. He can take responsibility for
- 50:48Speaker 8: this Democrat socialist movement because once he came out against
- 50:54Speaker 8: that socialist mayor of the the candidate in DC.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Was it.
