• 0:12
Hello friends. I'm Sean and welcome to a
• 0:16
chapter A Day Bible reading where you and I do exactly what
• 0:20
the name suggests. We read a chapter of the Bible
• 0:24
together each day and well chapters can vary.
• 0:28
They can be Whoppers that go. For 60-odd versus and take us
• 0:32
over 10 minutes to read or they can be like Esther 10 and this
• 0:39
is a Whopper of three. That's right.
• 0:42
You heard me three verses or so, whatever you're doing, whatever
• 0:46
you thought you were going to be doing.
• 0:48
Settle yourself in for the Long Haul.
• 0:51
As we read together this very short, very Punchy, wrap-up of
• 0:56
the Book of Esther. Someone asked, why didn't I It's
• 1:00
on to chapter 9 but that is not ours to question.
• 1:04
We will read this today we will celebrate what we can find in
• 1:08
there. So Holy Spirit, open us up as we
• 1:12
read this brief chunk of your word.
• 1:15
May these words still Inspire us and show us something of you and
• 1:21
your character. Open us, holy spirit as friends
• 1:27
you and I read together, Esther chapter 10.
• 1:44
King Xerxes imposed a tribute throughout his Empire even to
• 1:48
the distant coastlands, his great achievements.
• 1:52
And the full account of the greatness of Mordecai whom the
• 1:56
king had promoted are recorded in the book of the history of
• 2:01
the kings of media and Persia. Mordecai, the Jew became the
• 2:07
prime minister with authority next to that, of King, Xerxes
• 2:11
himself. He was very great among the Jews
• 2:15
who held him in high esteem because he continued to work for
• 2:19
the good of his people and to speak up for the welfare of all
• 2:24
their descendants. Father, we thank you for this
• 2:38
brief snippet, that gives us an insight into you and your
• 2:43
kingdom and how you would have us be with each other.
• 2:49
Thank you that we get to read about this man Mordecai and that
• 2:53
when he reached this position of power, he did not use it to gain
• 2:59
land and wealth for his family. But in your word, you tell us
• 3:03
that he worked for the good of his people to speak up for their
• 3:07
welfare. So I claim that as an example
• 3:11
for us and I pray that you would Inspire us and lead us and give
• 3:16
us your wisdom and your courageousness that we would
• 3:21
also make the welfare of others, our priority that we would lift
• 3:26
others up and we would hold them to you and to your love and for
• 3:30
your Justice to rule in their lives.
• 3:34
And when we do that, I just thank you that you hear us, you
• 3:38
tune your ears to our words and you love us.
• 3:42
And you bless us, and you bless all of your people.
• 3:45
Every one of your creation, you gather to yourself with love and
• 3:51
acceptance. What a wonderful God you are and
• 3:56
we just worship you and it's in the name of your son, Jesus name
• 4:00
  we pray. Amen.
