- 0:00Dot com. Welcome to the Daily Quote, the
- 0:06podcast designed to kick start your day in a positive way.
- 0:10I'm your host, Andrew McGivern. And let's dive into today's
- 0:13quote from motivational speaker and entrepreneur Tony Robbins,
- 0:18who once said people are not lazy, they simply have impotent
- 0:24goals. Impotent goals.
- 0:27Now that's a strong word, but it's accurate.
- 0:31Robbins is saying something controversial.
- 0:34Laziness isn't real. What we call laziness is
- 0:38actually a response to goals that don't inspire action.
- 0:43Think about it. Have you ever been lazy about
- 0:46something you truly cared about? About something that genuinely
- 0:51excited you about something meaningful?
- 0:56No, probably not. When the goal matters, you find
- 1:00the energy, you take time, you take action.
- 1:05But when the goal is weak, when it doesn't connect to anything
- 1:09you actually care about, you procrastinate, you avoid it, you
- 1:15lack motivation, and then you end up calling yourself lazy.
- 1:20But you're not lazy. You just have an impotent goal.
- 1:24It lacks power. It doesn't move you.
- 1:28An impotent goal sounds something like I should lose
- 1:32weight. I ought to start a business.
- 1:36I need to save money, should, ought, need.
- 1:40Those are obligation words, not inspiration words.
- 1:45A powerful goal sounds different.
- 1:48I want to have the energy to play with my grandkids.
- 1:53I'm building a business that solves a problem I'm obsessed
- 1:56with. I'm saving money to take my
- 1:59family on a trip we've dreamed about for years.
- 2:04Same activities, different goals, completely different
- 2:08emotional pull. Tony Robbins is telling us if
- 2:12you're not taking action, don't blame yourself.
- 2:16Look at your goal. Is it powerful enough to move
- 2:19you, or is it just something you think you should do?
- 2:24So here's the question. What goal are you calling
- 2:27yourself lazy about? And what would happen if you
- 2:31rewrote that goal to connect to something you actually care
- 2:36about? Because you're not lazy, you
- 2:39just need a goal powerful enough to move you.
- 2:43Make it powerful and watch yourself move.
- 2:48That's it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off
- 2:51for now, but I'll be back tomorrow.
- 2:56Same pod time, same pod station with another daily quote.
