- 0:03Speaker 1: All right, welcome, welcome.
- 0:04Speaker 2: You know what, Crouch, at this point, it's players only.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Might as well just say Scott is like a guest
- 0:09Speaker 2: host at this point. It's just going to be you
- 0:11Speaker 2: and I. Who knows where Scott is? We're not even
- 0:13Speaker 2: going to give him credit anymore for being part of
- 0:15Speaker 2: the show.
- 0:16Speaker 1: He's listening.
- 0:17Speaker 3: He's listening.
- 0:18Speaker 1: He's chatting.
- 0:19Speaker 2: You know what he's actually doing?
- 0:20Speaker 1: He's chatting. He's a chatter. He's in the chat, and
- 0:23Speaker 1: he likes to chat to all the people out there.
- 0:24Speaker 2: If you have questions... after you subscribe to foul territory
- 0:27Speaker 2: on YouTube and wherever you get your podcast, uh, you
- 0:30Speaker 2: can chat with Scott.
- 0:31Speaker 1: He's in there.
- 0:31Speaker 2: He can't do the show, but he can chat. So
- 0:33Speaker 2: he's in a location unknown and that's okay. Scott, one
- 0:37Speaker 2: day we'll welcome you back as a guest host. Like
- 0:39Speaker 2: so many others that we've had on here. Uh, it
- 0:41Speaker 2: was a big weekend this weekend. Crotty, uh, your football
- 0:44Speaker 2: team won. My football team did not win. Uh, the
- 0:47Speaker 2: quarterback got hurt. We're not going to talk about that.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I had a great weekend in Auburn with my kids.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Got to watch that. At least that football team win.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Um, Why Auburn?
- 0:58Speaker 1: Oh, because Florida was there. Florida played and destroyed them.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Oh, and they all came out to watch. Okay.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I will say this. Auburn, I've never been to Auburn.
- 1:05Speaker 1: It's a very nice little town. It's very great.
- 1:07Speaker 2: The football stadium is very nice. They do a great
- 1:09Speaker 2: job with the game day production. There is a bar there, though,
- 1:13Speaker 2: and it is a famous bar in Auburn. It is
- 1:14Speaker 2: the worst bar I think I've ever been to in
- 1:16Speaker 2: my life. And I've been to a lot of bars.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Where are you?
- 1:18Speaker 2: I have been to a lot of bars, but I have–
- 1:22Speaker 2: Never been to a bar like this where you cannot
- 1:24Speaker 2: walk and it's outside and it's 4,000 to 4 million
- 1:30Speaker 2: degrees in this place. And it's just college kids running
- 1:32Speaker 2: into you.
- 1:32Speaker 1: And then, you know, the random college.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Kid is drunk and they try to throw you the
- 1:35Speaker 2: elbow as they go by because they want to assert
- 1:37Speaker 2: their masculinity.
- 1:38Speaker 1: It didn't go well. So it was, it was not,
- 1:41Speaker 1: it was not a, it was, it was not a
- 1:43Speaker 1: fun time, but it was a fun time.
- 1:45Speaker 3: You were sweating like Francisco Cervelli at a drug test
- 1:48Speaker 3: at that place. If it was that hot and that
- 1:50Speaker 3: many people. I was down in Georgia and I was sweating.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I was sweating like crazy.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And by the way, so yesterday people, I was in
- 1:58Speaker 1: Chicago yesterday also. And I.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Was there for a thing for the White Sox. And
- 2:04Speaker 2: I was supposed to have my last city cruise. It
- 2:05Speaker 2: got rained out, which is fine.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. I was Auburn.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I was supposed to fly out of Atlanta to Chicago
- 2:11Speaker 2: on Sunday morning early. But I had to go to
- 2:13Speaker 2: Birmingham because how do airlines know? Like, I'm not going
- 2:16Speaker 2: to say what airline I was on. But they get
- 2:19Speaker 2: a text. It's like 12 hours before your flight. And
- 2:22Speaker 2: they say, hey, your flight's delayed two hours. Well, the
- 2:25Speaker 2: plane is in Atlanta already. How do they already know
- 2:27Speaker 2: it's going to be delayed? I don't understand how. I
- 2:30Speaker 2: don't understand it. So I had to switch airlines, switch cities. Anyways,
- 2:33Speaker 2: we need to figure that out in this country. You know,
- 2:38Speaker 2: we need to figure out. Yeah, let's figure it out tonight.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Because I'm trying to get a flight tonight out of here,
- 2:45Speaker 2: and I'm not getting good messages from other people who
- 2:48Speaker 2: are hopping on in Phillies radios.
- 2:50Speaker 3: It's not good. This is my safe space, though. This
- 2:53Speaker 3: is my two-hour safe space where people can troll me
- 2:56Speaker 3: on the Internet, and I will enjoy speaking about the baseballs.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yes. All right.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Well, now that we've vented and we've talked about our
- 3:05Speaker 2: problems in our life, I mean our big problems that
- 3:07Speaker 2: we have, let's charge them out and let's talk about
- 3:09Speaker 2: Alex Bregman. All right. So I've actually, I actually had
- 3:16Speaker 2: this happen to me. Um, my last year playing baseball,
- 3:20Speaker 2: I had a check swing hit me. It actually hit
- 3:21Speaker 2: me in the face to hit me, but I actually
- 3:24Speaker 2: was able to get my hand up and it deflected
- 3:26Speaker 2: it a little bit and hit me kind of in
- 3:27Speaker 2: the chin and just bloodied my lip when I was
- 3:29Speaker 2: on deck. Uh, Adonis Garcia, who's Adonis Garcia's brother did it.
- 3:34Speaker 2: It was in Atlanta and the old Turner field.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Uh, Mine bounced. Mine also wasn't a line drive.
- 3:39Speaker 2: So it bounced and I kind of, and then, but
- 3:41Speaker 2: what's funny is when it happened to me, I was
- 3:43Speaker 2: thinking I was my last year and I'm like, man,
- 3:45Speaker 2: I can't even get out of the way of a
- 3:46Speaker 2: foul ball.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It might be time for me to go home as
- 3:49Speaker 1: it happened. Right. So it ended up being my.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Last year, but this is scary because he's so close
- 3:54Speaker 2: and the check swing, I mean, got him right in
- 3:57Speaker 2: the kisser and.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It's nobody's fault.
- 4:01Speaker 2: That's why they have the circle member, the Adrian Beltre
- 4:03Speaker 2: interview where he had to move the circle.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Here's what he looks like though.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Ouch. Um, I hope he's okay. I hope his eye
- 4:10Speaker 2: is okay. I hope there's no fractures, clearly, because he
- 4:15Speaker 2: hasn't had any surgery. But, man, Alex, like, I don't
- 4:19Speaker 2: even know what to say. Ow, except ow.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 4:23Speaker 3: No, no, I was just going to say I hope
- 4:26Speaker 3: it looks worse than it really is. No surgeries, no fractures.
- 4:30Speaker 3: They were in Cincy. So I hope he didn't fly
- 4:33Speaker 3: because I remember guys would get hit and they'd be like,
- 4:35Speaker 3: I don't know, you know. get a little more inflammation.
- 4:39Speaker 3: So I don't know what exactly happened there. But coaching
- 4:44Speaker 3: high school baseball, this is exactly why I, before every game,
- 4:48Speaker 3: and the umpires argue with me almost every game, I
- 4:52Speaker 3: just ask if the on-deck hitter can be behind the hitter.
- 4:56Speaker 3: If it's a righty, you're going to be on the
- 4:58Speaker 3: third base side. If it's a lefty, you're going to
- 5:00Speaker 3: be on the first base side. And in PIAA, they
- 5:03Speaker 3: constantly argue with me.
- 5:05Speaker 1: No, no, no, no.
- 5:06Speaker 3: We don't want anybody yelling at different guys on the bench.
- 5:08Speaker 3: It's going to cause a problem. Here is Exhibit 93
- 5:13Speaker 3: of somebody getting hit that has way more reaction time,
- 5:18Speaker 3: way more focus on the game, and he gets hit
- 5:22Speaker 3: in the face. I hope Bregman's okay. I hope it's
- 5:25Speaker 3: something that's like, yes, it's very rare, but one time
- 5:29Speaker 3: is too many in my opinion, especially with kids. Yes,
- 5:32Speaker 3: also with big leaguers.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree.
- 5:35Speaker 2: You've got to be behind the guy, especially as the
- 5:37Speaker 2: stadiums get smaller. And you saw how close he was.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I mean, he was really close right there, thinking he'd
- 5:42Speaker 2: never get hit. But if you're behind the guy, then
- 5:45Speaker 2: you can get as close as you want because it's
- 5:46Speaker 2: really hard for a guy to hit a ball through
- 5:48Speaker 2: him to hit you. But when it's the opposite side
- 5:52Speaker 2: hitting and you're wide open to him, this is when
- 5:54Speaker 2: it happens. This is where it gets scary. So I
- 5:56Speaker 2: agree with what you said. about being able to switch it.
- 5:59Speaker 2: So get well, Alex Bregman. Like I said, I had
- 6:01Speaker 2: this happen. It wasn't near as bad as what happened
- 6:03Speaker 2: to Alex. I just got a bloody lip from it.
- 6:07Speaker 1: But get back.
- 6:07Speaker 2: They're going to need you in the postseason because, wow, the.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Padres are coming.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Padres might end up being the three seed, the way
- 6:15Speaker 2: they're playing right now and the other two teams are playing,
- 6:16Speaker 2: which we never thought we'd say about two weeks ago.
- 6:18Speaker 2: So get well soon, Alex Bregman. And speaking of other injuries,
- 6:23Speaker 2: there was another big injury that happened recently. Yeah. Man,
- 6:27Speaker 2: it's some New York team up there in New York
- 6:29Speaker 2: that has their right fielder that has a calf injury.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Jim Bowden, Aaron Judge, calf injury is a soleus strain,
- 6:36Speaker 2: which is a strain of the deeper calf muscle underneath
- 6:39Speaker 2: the gastrocnemius. Typical recovery is two to six weeks. Soleus
- 6:43Speaker 2: strains oftentimes linger because it's the muscle that works every
- 6:46Speaker 2: time you stand, walk, et cetera. Yankees have not shared
- 6:50Speaker 2: the grade. Okay, well, it's an F for recovery from
- 6:53Speaker 2: his rib injury is the grade I'm giving it because
- 6:55Speaker 2: now he's back on the I.L., With a calf injury, Kratz.
- 6:59Speaker 1: It's a huge deal.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Again, I'm not saying that if you would have gone
- 7:01Speaker 2: to rehab, this would not have happened. It could have
- 7:04Speaker 2: happened there on a rehab, but it's amazing how many
- 7:07Speaker 2: times you see guys come back and mostly it's calves
- 7:10Speaker 2: and hamstrings that they come back from. And then they
- 7:12Speaker 2: re-injure it. They, even if they do go on a
- 7:14Speaker 2: rehab for a calf or a hamstring, they're like, ah,
- 7:17Speaker 2: it's okay.
- 7:18Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 7:19Speaker 3: It's okay.
- 7:19Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 7:20Speaker 2: And then as soon as they go to that a
- 7:22Speaker 2: hundred percent, it hurts. And again, Aaron Judge, I'd like
- 7:26Speaker 2: to be back by the postseason. That's the plan. I've
- 7:28Speaker 2: really got no answers on a timeline.
- 7:31Speaker 1: It just sucks.
- 7:31Speaker 2: It sucks for Judge. It sucks for the Yankees. It
- 7:33Speaker 2: sucks for baseball. And, Aaron, we want you to get
- 7:35Speaker 2: back soon, so hurry back.
- 7:38Speaker 3: The Yankees and Yankees fans know they need him back. Obviously,
- 7:41Speaker 3: they're going to run so many graphics and pictures of
- 7:46Speaker 3: their record with Judge in the lineup and without Judge
- 7:49Speaker 3: in the lineup. I– Obviously, you know Judge is going
- 7:53Speaker 3: to play through whatever it takes to play through. My
- 7:57Speaker 3: fear here, and this is going to be what NFL, NBA,
- 8:02Speaker 3: all these guys like, man, you never see nearly as
- 8:05Speaker 3: many guys going down with calf injuries. And look at
- 8:08Speaker 3: Judge and Stanton. They go down with calf injuries. The
- 8:12Speaker 3: part that rehab enables you to do is to be
- 8:16Speaker 3: able to get out on the field, get on your feet,
- 8:20Speaker 3: get cleats on for a long duration of time in
- 8:23Speaker 3: other sports. Yes. You have quick bursts. You have, then
- 8:27Speaker 3: you go and you sit down for a little bit,
- 8:30Speaker 3: but you're on your feet on defense, essentially like being
- 8:36Speaker 3: stationary can kind of hurt you because it's just something
- 8:40Speaker 3: you can't prepare for. You can't prepare to stand in
- 8:44Speaker 3: the outfield and then try and go run. You can't,
- 8:47Speaker 3: it's like a, completely stationary position, and then you go
- 8:52Speaker 3: and run. The unfortunate thing here is, could it have
- 8:56Speaker 3: been avoided had he left the game in the first
- 8:59Speaker 3: inning for as long as he's going to be out?
- 9:02Speaker 3: We don't know. We will never know. Did he re-injure
- 9:05Speaker 3: it more? Or did he make it worse because he
- 9:07Speaker 3: stayed in the game? We don't know. But we do
- 9:10Speaker 3: know that the Yankees postseason will hinge on Aaron Judge
- 9:15Speaker 3: being or not being in the lineup. Because now, You're
- 9:18Speaker 3: just guessing if he's going to be dominant or not
- 9:21Speaker 3: because it doesn't look like he's going to have any
- 9:23Speaker 3: games to play before they play a wild card series.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and also, I mean, a huge series this week
- 9:29Speaker 2: with the Rays, obviously. The Rays are more than likely
- 9:31Speaker 2: going to clinch the AL East in New York. Also,
- 9:36Speaker 2: Clark Schmidt is down. Clark Schmidt was supposed to be
- 9:38Speaker 2: coming back. He was coming back from his injury, and
- 9:40Speaker 2: in warming up, he experienced soreness in his right biceps.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Didn't want to push through given that he's coming back
- 9:46Speaker 2: from Tommy John. Brian Hoke warming up close to coming
- 9:49Speaker 2: into today's game, experienced soreness in his bicep.
- 9:51Speaker 1: He didn't want to push through, giving his comeback from surgery.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Tough weekend for the Yankees bullpen. They were hoping Clark
- 9:58Speaker 2: Schmidt would be a piece to help that. They had
- 9:59Speaker 2: a tough weekend. Should Cashman have acquired more at the deadline?
- 10:06Speaker 2: Because their bullpen has been a strength for them for
- 10:08Speaker 2: most of the year, right? It's been more of can
- 10:10Speaker 2: they score and can they do different things? They're starting
- 10:13Speaker 2: pitching when they're healthy is right. We're going to have
- 10:15Speaker 2: Carlos Rodon. Later to discuss that, I mean, with Cole, Schlittler, Rodon, Free,
- 10:19Speaker 2: that's pretty good. Even Will Warren has been good for him.
- 10:23Speaker 2: So should Cashman have done more at the trade deadline
- 10:25Speaker 2: as far as bullpen? Because he went heavy offense, but
- 10:29Speaker 2: should he have gone bullpen?
- 10:32Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, we're going to end up talking to
- 10:33Speaker 3: Jim Salisbury in a minute here about the Phillies. And
- 10:37Speaker 3: did they do enough? Ultimately, you're going to need guys
- 10:40Speaker 3: to step up. The example I give is the 2023 Rangers.
- 10:44Speaker 3: They obviously went on and won the World Series. And
- 10:50Speaker 3: if you can name me their three leverage arms now,
- 10:53Speaker 3: three years later, that helped them win that year, it
- 10:56Speaker 3: would have been probably the same three leverage arms that
- 11:00Speaker 3: you couldn't have named me going into that series because
- 11:03Speaker 3: they had so many questions. So what are they going
- 11:06Speaker 3: to lean on in that bullpen since they didn't get
- 11:09Speaker 3: enough because you weren't going to go out and get,
- 11:11Speaker 3: you know, the greatest closer available, or they didn't need
- 11:15Speaker 3: a closer, seventh, eighth inning guys. It's just not one
- 11:20Speaker 3: of those things that's usually available at the trade deadline.
- 11:23Speaker 3: So in my opinion, it's ultimately for the Yankees and
- 11:26Speaker 3: the Phillies, who steps up in that relief pitching role.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Would they have hoped it was Clark Schmidt? Yeah, but
- 11:33Speaker 3: Clark Schmidt wasn't going to be like, he's shutting down
- 11:35Speaker 3: a seventh tonight. He's coming back in tomorrow, coming off surgery.
- 11:39Speaker 3: he would have given you some nice innings in a
- 11:41Speaker 3: game where they go up 5-1 and Rodon's come out,
- 11:46Speaker 3: Max Freed's come out. So he would have been able
- 11:48Speaker 3: to give you innings, but not in the sense of like, oh,
- 11:50Speaker 3: Clark Schmidt might not make the team now. Now the
- 11:53Speaker 3: Yankees are cooked. If that was the case, I don't
- 11:55Speaker 3: think they were in a good spot anyway.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Yeah, true.
- 11:58Speaker 2: They have a doubleheader tomorrow, rain delay, Carlos Rodon, who
- 12:01Speaker 2: is joining us later, is pitching the first game of that,
- 12:04Speaker 2: and then Max Freed will pitch game two.
- 12:05Speaker 1: That's a pretty good one, too.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Punch to start off a double header with in games,
- 12:10Speaker 2: basically you have to win. If you have any hope
- 12:13Speaker 2: of catching the rays, which I don't think they do
- 12:15Speaker 2: right now, but still it's nice to go into that
- 12:17Speaker 2: series thinking like, okay, we can do this.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Um, you know, it's, it's, it'll be good. It'll be
- 12:23Speaker 1: interesting to see.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And the main thing is, is Stanton out, obviously now
- 12:27Speaker 2: judge out.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Can they hit enough?
- 12:30Speaker 2: Can the Yankees hit enough without two of their big
- 12:32Speaker 2: home run hitters who they're so home run line? Yes.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Bellinger's still there.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yes. Uh, Ben Rice is still there, and they've had
- 12:39Speaker 2: nice years, right? But the rest of that lineup, I mean, Garcia, yes, Ramos.
- 12:44Speaker 2: I mean, Grisham hasn't had a great year.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Grisham's out. Jazz isn't back yet. So it's going to
- 12:54Speaker 3: be one of those things. Caballero and Volpe in the
- 12:57Speaker 3: same lineup is going to give you a little bit
- 13:00Speaker 3: more defensive ability. Both of them out of position defensively.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Giving you Lombard's going to take shortstop. So there's question marks.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Elio Ramos didn't do much for the first, I want
- 13:15Speaker 3: to say, three, four weeks of being a Yankee, and
- 13:17Speaker 3: now he's stepped up. Again, it's the postseason. Some guys
- 13:22Speaker 3: have to step up that aren't named Aaron Judge. The
- 13:25Speaker 3: issue is when you don't have Aaron Judge in the lineup,
- 13:28Speaker 3: teams are just less afraid of needing to make a
- 13:31Speaker 3: big pitch to– Ben Rice, less afraid of making a
- 13:35Speaker 3: big pitch to Cody Bellinger because they'll go after Spencer Jones.
- 13:39Speaker 3: They'll go after Elio Ramos. They'll go after Anthony Volpe.
- 13:44Speaker 3: And that's how you navigate a playoff lineup that doesn't
- 13:47Speaker 3: have your monster in it.
- 13:49Speaker 1: True.
- 13:49Speaker 2: And Caballero plays center field because Spencer Jones was banged up.
- 13:52Speaker 2: So the Yankees are trying different things, trying different combinations. So,
- 13:57Speaker 2: I mean, we'll see how it goes, but they've got
- 13:58Speaker 2: to play the Red Sox. They're going to be tough.
- 14:01Speaker 2: And then if they win that, they're going to have
- 14:02Speaker 2: to play the Rays, who we all know the Rays
- 14:04Speaker 2: have just been great this year. So that one side
- 14:07Speaker 2: of the bracket, we're just going to call that side.
- 14:09Speaker 1: The east of the AL.
- 14:11Speaker 2: The AL east bracket is going to be tough as hell.
- 14:13Speaker 2: And then the other side of the bracket, the Rangers,
- 14:15Speaker 2: the White Sox, the Guardians, how it lines up right now,
- 14:18Speaker 2: we'll just call that the other side of the bracket.
- 14:20Speaker 2: You have the beast in the east, and then you
- 14:22Speaker 2: have the other side. So it's going to be very
- 14:25Speaker 2: interesting to see. And I talk to a lot of
- 14:26Speaker 2: people that are like, you know, and people that are
- 14:29Speaker 2: in baseball. I was at the White Sox stadium yesterday
- 14:32Speaker 2: with the Tigers, White Sox, so I got to talk
- 14:34Speaker 2: to both teams. A lot of people are saying, man,
- 14:37Speaker 2: this is the ultimate opportunity to reseed after the first round.
- 14:41Speaker 2: MLB's not going to do that. They're not going to
- 14:42Speaker 2: reseed the first round. All right, well, a lot of tombstones.
- 14:48Speaker 2: We're like the Undertaker. We're tombstoning everybody here, Kratzy. I mean,
- 14:52Speaker 2: there's a lot of teams that were eliminated. Pirates, 11th
- 14:56Speaker 2: straight year, they're going to miss the playoffs, although they
- 14:58Speaker 2: are over.
- 14:58Speaker 1: 500, so.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I guess they deserve kudos. It's been a great year
- 15:01Speaker 2: if you talk to certain fans of teams because they
- 15:05Speaker 2: didn't lose 100 and they're not going to finish in
- 15:06Speaker 2: last place. So it's a great year for the Pirates.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Not really.
- 15:08Speaker 2: They didn't make the playoffs. Tigers eliminated. No, they're not
- 15:12Speaker 2: better without Scooble. No, they're not better without Casey Mize.
- 15:15Speaker 2: They're eliminated. They were so close to winning the DS
- 15:19Speaker 2: last year and going to the LCS. And I thought
- 15:21Speaker 2: if they would have got past Seattle, they had a
- 15:23Speaker 2: great chance to go to the World Series. Didn't happen
- 15:25Speaker 2: this year. We can pick a million reasons why. injuries,
- 15:30Speaker 2: guys not performing the way they thought, et cetera, et cetera.
- 15:32Speaker 2: We don't have enough time to go through all the Tigers' problems.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And then last but not least, the Marlins, who, again,
- 15:37Speaker 2: they made it to the last week before they were eliminated-ish. So, again,
- 15:41Speaker 2: it depends on who you talk to. Great year, Kratzy,
- 15:43Speaker 2: because they weren't eliminated in April. So great year, Marlins.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Great year, Marlins fans. But you're eliminated, so we can
- 15:50Speaker 2: put a tombstone on you. So it was a heavy
- 15:54Speaker 2: weekend if you're a fan of one of those teams
- 15:56Speaker 2: this weekend.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I think it's probably been inevitable by last month for
- 16:01Speaker 3: all three of those teams. But how do they bounce back?
- 16:05Speaker 3: What do the Marlins do? What do the Pirates do?
- 16:08Speaker 3: Do they do something again? Do they extend our buddy Lau,
- 16:12Speaker 3: who improved his defense, was the second-best hitting second baseman
- 16:18Speaker 3: in the game? His value is there. Do they try
- 16:21Speaker 3: to bring him back on a contract that wasn't just
- 16:24Speaker 3: a one-year trade deal? We'll see if he liked it,
- 16:28Speaker 3: if the Pirates are willing to spend. The Tigers, I think,
- 16:31Speaker 3: out of all three of these teams, are in the
- 16:33Speaker 3: toughest position. They're going to have the rookie of the
- 16:35Speaker 3: year in McGonigal. From there, where do they go other
- 16:40Speaker 3: than say, well, all these hitters are a year older,
- 16:42Speaker 3: so they should all improve, which clearly didn't work out
- 16:46Speaker 3: the way they had hoped this year. And don't give
- 16:47Speaker 3: me run differential. Well, look at the run differential. There's
- 16:51Speaker 3: a lot to build on there. Don't give me that.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Okay, got it.
- 16:55Speaker 2: We only have a couple seconds here, but I was
- 16:57Speaker 2: with the Tigers people yesterday because I was in Chicago
- 16:59Speaker 2: with them.
- 17:02Speaker 1: A.J. Hinch, this is great, and Scott would love this.
- 17:04Speaker 1: He's like, do you see our run differential? And I
- 17:07Speaker 1: was like, yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 2: He did not. Do you know what that means? Oh,
- 17:09Speaker 2: he goes, do you know what that means?
- 17:10Speaker 1: I go, nothing.
- 17:11Speaker 2: He goes, absolutely nothing. He goes, because with like the
- 17:14Speaker 2: Brewers won 20 to nothing the other day, that helped
- 17:16Speaker 2: their run differential immensely. He's like, we have a positive
- 17:19Speaker 2: run differential. We have stunk all year.
- 17:20Speaker 1: So there you have it.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Thank you, A.J.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Hinch.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Barry Larkin.
- 17:29Speaker 2: One of the bigwigs at the Orlando Dreamers, by the way.
- 17:32Speaker 1: He's also.
- 17:34Speaker 2: A color commentator for the Cincinnati Reds. Change has to happen.
- 17:39Speaker 2: This is from Chatterbox Sports. This is Barry Larkin's quote
- 17:42Speaker 2: following the loss. Change has to happen. The city deserves
- 17:46Speaker 2: better than that. And I know every player down there
- 17:48Speaker 2: feels that. But something has to give. What has to give?
- 17:52Speaker 2: I don't understand what has to give. They made the
- 17:54Speaker 2: playoffs last year. They were supposed to make the playoffs.
- 17:57Speaker 1: They had injuries. They didn't perform the way they were
- 17:59Speaker 1: supposed to. So what's it supposed to give?
- 18:00Speaker 2: They spend more money. You sell the team. What do
- 18:03Speaker 2: you think Barry Larkin was talking about? Something has to
- 18:05Speaker 2: give it. Move Cincinnati to Orlando?
- 18:08Speaker 3: I don't know. Well, that's not going to happen.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Keep dreaming. That's why they're the dreamers.
- 18:16Speaker 3: I watched a thing where Josh Donaldson was talking to
- 18:18Speaker 3: John Boy and talking about, oh, you have influence on
- 18:21Speaker 3: the decisions that people make. This isn't one of those cases.
- 18:25Speaker 3: This isn't like a media personality having influence on ownership
- 18:30Speaker 3: or front office. This is Captain Barry Larkin. He is
- 18:35Speaker 3: a very forward-facing, very– I mean, he's a legend in
- 18:39Speaker 3: Reds baseball history. When you talk about the Reds organization,
- 18:45Speaker 3: and if he's saying something, he clearly wants it to–
- 18:50Speaker 3: wants something to resonate. What exactly he's talking about, Is
- 18:54Speaker 3: it Red's ownership needs to spend more? Is it the
- 18:57Speaker 3: front office needed to do something he didn't agree with? Something.
- 19:01Speaker 3: But I think there was a lot of expectations for
- 19:03Speaker 3: this team, not just this year, but for the previous
- 19:08Speaker 3: maybe like two or three years with this young core
- 19:12Speaker 3: nucleus that was the position players that are now kind
- 19:16Speaker 3: of starting to age out a little bit and kind
- 19:18Speaker 3: of not playing to that standard that I think the
- 19:22Speaker 3: Reds and the city of Cincinnati kind of expected. Yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I mean, I can't really. I don't know.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Nick Kroll's been there six seasons.
- 19:33Speaker 1: I love him.
- 19:33Speaker 2: We've had him on the show. He's been great. He's
- 19:35Speaker 2: a great interview. One postseason appearance. It was kind of
- 19:37Speaker 2: last year where they backed into it. I don't want
- 19:40Speaker 2: to say they backed into it. The Mets collapsed. They
- 19:42Speaker 2: got in and then they were gone in two games
- 19:44Speaker 2: for the Dodgers. Hunter Green's missed basically the whole year.
- 19:47Speaker 2: The pitching hasn't developed, taking the next step. whether it's Lodolo,
- 19:50Speaker 2: whether it's Abbott. Chase Burns has been a revelation. Offense
- 19:53Speaker 2: needs some help. I don't know what they're doing this season.
- 19:59Speaker 2: All right, SeatGeek, that's where you get your best tickets
- 20:01Speaker 2: in Major League Baseball for the last week of the
- 20:03Speaker 2: regular season. And The postseason, a couple big series, well,
- 20:07Speaker 2: a few big series coming up here this week. We
- 20:09Speaker 2: already mentioned Rays and Yankees, four games, three days, doubleheader,
- 20:15Speaker 2: basically inside the AL East. Padres, Dodgers, the West has
- 20:18Speaker 2: already decided, but that's for the Padres. But Pajes, Otani,
- 20:22Speaker 2: and Rookie are all supposed to be back for the Dodgers.
- 20:24Speaker 2: And then the other two big ones, Guardians at Red
- 20:26Speaker 2: Sox and White Sox at Royals are the other ones
- 20:29Speaker 2: for a division that has not settled, wild cards that
- 20:31Speaker 2: are not settled. The interesting thing is the Red Sox
- 20:34Speaker 2: are kind of locked into that two-seat in the AL
- 20:37Speaker 2: wildcard race. The Guardians and White Sox are one game behind,
- 20:43Speaker 2: literally one game behind because if they end up tied,
- 20:45Speaker 2: the White Sox get the division. And then you have
- 20:47Speaker 2: the Astros who are kind of starting to slip a
- 20:49Speaker 2: little bit. So some huge series. Which one are you
- 20:52Speaker 2: going to, Kratz, if you get the opportunity?
- 20:55Speaker 3: I mean, I could really care less about what happens
- 20:58Speaker 3: in the American League wildcard right now. I got to
- 21:00Speaker 3: go see either the Guardians or the White Sox. To me,
- 21:03Speaker 3: I want to see if this White Sox team– I
- 21:07Speaker 3: believe in the Guardians. And I think it was exemplified
- 21:11Speaker 3: yesterday when Big Rig came out, Gavin Williams, and did
- 21:15Speaker 3: what he's done the entire year, took over the strikeout race.
- 21:18Speaker 3: So I don't know that I need to see the Guardians.
- 21:20Speaker 3: I know they're going to make the playoffs in some
- 21:22Speaker 3: shape or fashion. Not going to hit a whole lot,
- 21:25Speaker 3: but they're going to pitch. In my opinion, I've got
- 21:28Speaker 3: to see the White Sox play. I've got to see
- 21:30Speaker 3: if these young guys are like, okay– Somebody caught us. Now,
- 21:34Speaker 3: for the first time all year, we're going to be
- 21:36Speaker 3: playing from behind and have to catch somebody. I want
- 21:38Speaker 3: to see how they respond in this series.
- 21:42Speaker 2: They responded yesterday. Listen, they lost a really bad game
- 21:46Speaker 2: on Friday. They were up 6-1 in the first inning,
- 21:49Speaker 2: lost 11-8. And then Sean Burke stepped up big time
- 21:52Speaker 2: on Saturday, gave them six-plus innings. They won, I think, 3-1.
- 21:55Speaker 2: And then Sunday, yesterday, they had a four-hour rain delay almost.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Almost a four-hour rain delay. Trust me, I sat through
- 22:01Speaker 2: about three hours of it. Davis Martin came out. So,
- 22:06Speaker 2: you know, use code TERRITORY10. Of course, I have a

- 23:17Speaker 2: it or not, but get it if you don't. But
- 23:20Speaker 2: here's where we're at.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Okay, good.
- 23:21Speaker 2: We're talking postseason baseball because Fox is the home of
- 23:24Speaker 2: the LCS and the World Series. It's been like that
- 23:26Speaker 2: for a really long time. Postseason bracket. We're going to
- 23:29Speaker 2: show the bracket. Here's where it stands today. It's changed
- 23:32Speaker 2: a little bit over the weekend. National League's pretty set.
- 23:37Speaker 2: American League.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Everybody loves a bracket. Everybody loves a bracket.
- 23:41Speaker 1: March Madness.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Eddie Einhorn, you little gremlin. You started this when you
- 23:44Speaker 2: started March Madness on CBS. So if you don't know
- 23:47Speaker 2: who Eddie Einhorn is, kids, Google him.
- 23:48Speaker 1: He was awesome.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Finkel is Einhorn? Einhorn is Finkel?
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 2: I once called him a little gremlin. He was this
- 23:56Speaker 2: little guy. He used to be around the White Sox.
- 23:57Speaker 2: He's friends with Jerry Reinsdorf, and he used to come around.
- 23:59Speaker 2: I'm like, you little gremlin, Eddie. And he'd just laugh
- 24:02Speaker 2: and say, you know, I invented March Madness. So. He
- 24:06Speaker 2: invented the bracket, so I blame him. But I can't
- 24:09Speaker 2: really blame him because he's not here anymore. So I
- 24:11Speaker 2: love you, Eddie.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I miss you.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Here's the National League. It's pretty much set. Brewers are
- 24:14Speaker 2: going to be one. Dodgers are going to be two.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Cubs-Padres is a little different than where it was. And
- 24:19Speaker 2: then Braves-Phillies, that's two pretty good matchups in both the
- 24:22Speaker 2: National League brackets. Braves clinched their seventh division title the
- 24:26Speaker 2: last nine years.
- 24:27Speaker 1: They're in.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Probably going to be the three seed. But when we
- 24:31Speaker 2: go to the other side of the bracket is where
- 24:32Speaker 2: it gets really wacky. Rays are going to be the
- 24:35Speaker 2: one seed. Yankees are going to be the four. Red
- 24:38Speaker 2: Sox are going to be the five. Astros were on this.
- 24:42Speaker 2: They've completely fallen apart. And now we have the Guardians
- 24:46Speaker 2: as the two seed and the White Sox as the
- 24:48Speaker 2: six seed. Help me on the American League side, especially
- 24:52Speaker 2: the top half. The bottom half, we talked about earlier,
- 24:54Speaker 2: that's the East, the AL East bottom part. They have
- 24:57Speaker 2: to battle to see who gets the opportunity to play
- 25:00Speaker 2: the other three teams.
- 25:00Speaker 1: So help me in the top. Who ends up there, Kratzy?
- 25:04Speaker 3: Who ends up there or which route do they actually take?
- 25:07Speaker 2: Where do they end up?
- 25:08Speaker 1: Where do they end up, the 2, 3, and 6 seeds?
- 25:10Speaker 1: Who ends up where?
- 25:12Speaker 3: To me, I have a feeling it's going to end
- 25:16Speaker 3: up like that. I am fearful that the Astros are
- 25:20Speaker 3: going to do something that would knock the White Sox out.
- 25:25Speaker 3: I don't know why. I want to see the White
- 25:28Speaker 3: Sox hold on to that spot. But I think the Guardians–
- 25:34Speaker 3: In that spot. You talked about it for weeks. Oh, man,
- 25:38Speaker 3: this is unbelievable. The White Sox could be in the
- 25:40Speaker 3: American League Championship Series. And you started laying out your
- 25:43Speaker 3: Fox 1 postseason bracket for us. And I'm like, holy cow,
- 25:47Speaker 3: that is crazy. To me, if you give teams like
- 25:51Speaker 3: the Rays, teams like the Guardians, extra days rest to
- 25:56Speaker 3: set their superpower, which is their starting rotation, then you
- 26:02Speaker 3: are setting yourself up to face the best of the
- 26:05Speaker 3: best throughout the entire year. And I think if this
- 26:09Speaker 3: is the bracket, if this is how it works out,
- 26:12Speaker 3: the Guardians, to me, may become the favorite in the
- 26:16Speaker 3: American League. Only because I thought the Yankees were going
- 26:19Speaker 3: to be the favorite. Aaron Judge, uncertainty. I'll wait to
- 26:23Speaker 3: make my pick until right before the playoffs start. But
- 26:27Speaker 3: the Guardians, because of the fact that they're in the NIT,
- 26:31Speaker 3: of the American League, it feels like they could really
- 26:35Speaker 3: set themselves up for success here.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Absolutely they could. That's why I was saying the White
- 26:41Speaker 2: Sox need to get that two seed. And I think
- 26:43Speaker 2: it's most important actually to the White Sox out of
- 26:45Speaker 2: all the teams because they have the least amount of
- 26:48Speaker 2: starting pitching and they've used their starting pitching less than
- 26:51Speaker 2: any other team I think pretty much in baseball. So
- 26:53Speaker 2: their bullpen is completely gassed at this point. The off
- 26:56Speaker 2: day today is huge for them. But if they get
- 26:59Speaker 2: that week off in between until the ALDS starts, they
- 27:05Speaker 2: can set up Davis Martin.
- 27:06Speaker 1: They can set up Sean Burke.
- 27:07Speaker 2: They can set up Anthony Kaye in however they want
- 27:09Speaker 2: to deal with their bullpen just to give them a
- 27:12Speaker 2: break because those guys are gassed and they need that
- 27:14Speaker 2: little break. So I think it's most important for the
- 27:15Speaker 2: White Sox to get the two seed. I mean, I
- 27:18Speaker 2: think the White Sox are going to be in the postseason.
- 27:20Speaker 2: But if you have to go to Texas on the
- 27:22Speaker 2: road and you get DeGrom, Evaldi, Gore, Ooh, that's tough
- 27:27Speaker 2: in that ballpark where the White Sox are known for
- 27:28Speaker 2: hitting home runs. And I know it's become a little
- 27:30Speaker 2: bit more hitter friendly, but that's a, that's a park.
- 27:33Speaker 2: You can't really hit a ton of home runs. So
- 27:34Speaker 2: I think it's most important for them to get the
- 27:36Speaker 2: two seed Houston. I don't know what's happened to Houston.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I saw them last week. I saw him Thursday last
- 27:41Speaker 2: week and they were at the time still in first
- 27:43Speaker 2: place and they were still doing well. And then they just,
- 27:45Speaker 2: they've just collapsed since then. So their pitching has gone
- 27:48Speaker 2: really been bad. They haven't really swung them. I mean,
- 27:50Speaker 2: outside of Alvarez and Pena, it has been a slog
- 27:53Speaker 2: for them to score some runs. So, I think I'd
- 27:56Speaker 2: stand the way it is, but, man, it's going to
- 27:59Speaker 2: be interesting because, like you said, if you're the two seed,
- 28:01Speaker 2: you're just sitting there saying, all right, we've got to
- 28:03Speaker 2: win three games to play the winner of the AL East, basically.
- 28:07Speaker 2: And after, they're going to have to beat the crap
- 28:09Speaker 2: out of each other in two different rounds. Yankees-Red Sox
- 28:11Speaker 2: is going to be a war. And then you get
- 28:13Speaker 2: to the Rays, and you're like, gosh, they've been sitting
- 28:14Speaker 2: here for a week with their pitching lined up.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Wow.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And also, if you look at Cleveland, the way their
- 28:20Speaker 2: back end of the bullpen is with the off days,
- 28:22Speaker 2: I mean, they can just go– I.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Don't want to say his name is not Zebrowski, but
- 28:27Speaker 1: I'm going to say it wrong. But, you know, the lefty,
- 28:30Speaker 1: the Polish-Canadian guy.
- 28:32Speaker 2: And then you can go Hunter Gattis, Cade Smith, and
- 28:34Speaker 2: you can pitch him boom, boom, boom with the off
- 28:36Speaker 2: days in between.
- 28:38Speaker 1: That's a good recipe.
- 28:40Speaker 2: With you go big rig Gavin Williams, Foster Griffin, and
- 28:44Speaker 2: Parker Messick, boom, boom, boom, three games. That's a pretty
- 28:48Speaker 2: good recipe to go deep into the postseason. If they
- 28:50Speaker 2: get any kind of hitting, just get any sort of, Yeah, Zabrowski.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Eric Zabrowski.
- 28:55Speaker 1: That's what I said, Mark.
- 28:56Speaker 3: You said it right.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 3: You said it right.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Because I have family that's Zabrowski. Z-E-W-B-R. You didn't want
- 29:03Speaker 1: to screw it up.
- 29:04Speaker 2: So I didn't want to screw it up. It was Zabrowski,
- 29:06Speaker 2: not Zabrowski. So that's where I got a little messed up. But, yeah.
- 29:11Speaker 2: I mean, the National League, the thing that's mind-boggling to me,
- 29:14Speaker 2: the Padres. The Padres came out of nowhere. They were like,
- 29:19Speaker 2: are they going to make the postseason? No.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Now they're the second wild card. They passed your Phillies.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Will the Padres be able to hold on to that
- 29:27Speaker 2: second wild card? Heck, they're only a game behind the Cubs.
- 29:30Speaker 2: They might be the first wild card and host the playoffs.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Hosting the playoffs in San Diego, that'll be electric and
- 29:38Speaker 3: a huge advantage. my question will be and we always
- 29:41Speaker 3: say you got to beat the teams you're supposed to
- 29:43Speaker 3: be they've been beating up on teams that have been
- 29:46Speaker 3: playing as well here down the stretch is that the
- 29:49Speaker 3: same as being hot going into the playoffs playing better
- 29:53Speaker 3: teams I don't know I think it's something that this
- 29:58Speaker 3: team the way they're hitting the the way that they're
- 30:02Speaker 3: getting quality innings from their starters, not necessarily super dominant,
- 30:08Speaker 3: but they're never going to be super dominant. I don't
- 30:11Speaker 3: think there's going to be a scenario where Craig Stammen's like, yeah,
- 30:14Speaker 3: we're going to go seven innings unless Michael King maybe
- 30:17Speaker 3: gives them seven innings and they have a five-run lead.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Because as soon as somebody gets on, hit the button.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Maury Hone, if Estrada's back, Mason Miller, Like, it is
- 30:29Speaker 3: just a cavalcade. Suarez, like, a cavalcade of arms. Like,
- 30:35Speaker 3: almost 2014, 2015 Royals-esque. Maybe even more daunting than that team.
- 30:44Speaker 2: By the way, Mason Miller gave up a homer the
- 30:46Speaker 2: other day, which is, like, earth-shattering news. He gave up
- 30:49Speaker 2: a home run, which never happens to that guy. He
- 30:53Speaker 2: gave up a home run.
- 30:54Speaker 3: It was a heater, middle-middle, Griffin-Conine. is a home run
- 30:58Speaker 3: hitter that can run into one, it's okay. He hit it,
- 31:01Speaker 3: and Mason Miller was like, hmm.
- 31:04Speaker 2: It happens.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I can't believe it.
- 31:05Speaker 3: It happens.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Not very rarely, though. That's why it's a news story.
- 31:09Speaker 1: It's a news story. We'll see.
- 31:10Speaker 2: It's going to be fascinating. Fascinating postseason. Fascinating last week.

- 31:34Speaker 1: We'll be back. Spencer Nussbaum.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Nationals have finalized a four-year contract extension with Cade Cavalli
- 31:42Speaker 2: and his mustache with a club option for 2031. It
- 31:45Speaker 2: will pay Cavalli $ 47 million guaranteed and $ 70 million if
- 31:49Speaker 2: the option.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Is picked up. Sources tell The Athletic.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 31:55Speaker 2: For you Nationals, Cade Cavalli has been really good for them.
- 31:58Speaker 2: If you follow the Nationals at all, you know their
- 31:59Speaker 2: offense has been good. They had Foster Griffin who was
- 32:01Speaker 2: good and Cade Cavalli were the two pitchers on this
- 32:03Speaker 2: staff that have been really, really good for them.
- 32:06Speaker 1: So good for you. Congratulations, Cade Cavalli.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Good. Not just a good pitcher. Talking to him in
- 32:13Speaker 3: spring training, it really felt like he just didn't care
- 32:17Speaker 3: about the minutia. He didn't care about the minor stuff
- 32:20Speaker 3: that was going on.
- 32:22Speaker 1: He was there.
- 32:23Speaker 3: All about wanting to get the win, all about wanting
- 32:26Speaker 3: to be out there for the boys. And as a
- 32:28Speaker 3: Nats team who took leaps and bounds, jumps ahead offensively,
- 32:34Speaker 3: they're going to need somebody to anchor that staff. Good
- 32:37Speaker 3: for them for, one, developing him, and good for them
- 32:41Speaker 3: for extending him and just the way he goes about things.
- 32:45Speaker 3: I think it's something that young pitchers can come up
- 32:48Speaker 3: and watch, and veterans are going to be like, I'd
- 32:50Speaker 3: kind of like to play for that offense. I'd kind
- 32:53Speaker 3: of like to play with Cade Cavalli. He seems like
- 32:54Speaker 3: a dog.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Agreed. Agreed.
- 32:58Speaker 2: So, good for you. Good for you, Nats, for extending
- 33:01Speaker 2: a pitcher. Now you got James Wood, C.J. Abrams.
- 33:05Speaker 1: You got some other guys you need to.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Try to maybe.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Too late. Too late. Maybe a little bit. C.J. Abrams,
- 33:13Speaker 3: what did he hit the other day? He's over 30,
- 33:14Speaker 3: and he's about to hit 100. He's got 98 stakes.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Too late. Sorry, now you're telling him he's only a
- 33:20Speaker 3: second baseman. Wait, he's not a second baseman. There's a little,
- 33:25Speaker 3: he might not be a Nat next year, but he
- 33:27Speaker 3: should bring back a lot.
- 33:28Speaker 1: True, true.
- 33:29Speaker 2: So the Nats have had, listen, there are teams that
- 33:32Speaker 2: you say, man, their expectations are X, Y, Z. But
- 33:35Speaker 2: for the Nats, the year they had has to be
- 33:37Speaker 2: looked at a positive because they were expected to lose
- 33:39Speaker 2: a lot of games. And they did not this year.
- 33:41Speaker 2: So the new manager, Paul Toboni, their new President of
- 33:45Speaker 2: Baseball Ops, their new manager, Butera, has been great.
- 33:47Speaker 1: It's not Drew Butera. I always want to call him
- 33:49Speaker 1: Drew Butera, but it's not.
- 33:50Speaker 3: No, no, you're right.
- 33:51Speaker 1: It's Drew Butera? Blake Butera.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Blake Butera.
- 33:53Speaker 1: I know.
- 33:54Speaker 2: I always want to call him Drew Butera because of
- 33:55Speaker 2: the old catcher. And I always– that's why it's just
- 33:57Speaker 2: easier to call him by their last name. It's like
- 33:59Speaker 2: when I can't pronounce a guy's last name, I'll have
- 34:01Speaker 2: Adam Amin say it, and I'll just call him by
- 34:02Speaker 2: the first name on Fox because it just– that way.
- 34:05Speaker 1: I can't screw it up.
- 34:06Speaker 2: I mean, they had a guy pitch for the Astros
- 34:08Speaker 2: on Thursday night.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Yolo. I'm like, not saying his name.
- 34:14Speaker 3: I saw that i saw you.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Made me laugh.
- 34:21Speaker 2: All right mlb trade rumors dan wilson manager mariners manager
- 34:26Speaker 2: dan wilson unlikely to return in 2027 um i don't
- 34:32Speaker 2: know if this is unexpected or expected with the way
- 34:36Speaker 2: the season went for the Mariners? I know Dan Wilson
- 34:39Speaker 2: is kind of a legend for the Mariners, played a
- 34:41Speaker 2: long time there, was a catcher, was an all-star, has
- 34:43Speaker 2: been in Seattle his entire life.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Worked in the front office.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Would you consider this a surprise that he's not coming back,
- 34:48Speaker 2: or is this one of those, hey, we're going to
- 34:50Speaker 2: move you into another role in the organization, keep you around,
- 34:53Speaker 2: but we just don't want you to manage the team?
- 34:56Speaker 1: I think this is chalk.
- 34:57Speaker 3: I think besides Andy Green, I think this was going
- 35:00Speaker 3: to be the move and maybe Kurt Suzuki. the move
- 35:03Speaker 3: that was most likely watching some Mariners games, seeing some
- 35:08Speaker 3: of the sentiment of people that, you know, follow the team,
- 35:11Speaker 3: but aren't like super like emotional about it. There was
- 35:16Speaker 3: definitely some, some inability to get this team to play
- 35:21Speaker 3: to their highest standard. I think that was expected. So,
- 35:25Speaker 3: I mean, I think his, his run, his runs over,
- 35:28Speaker 3: I think it'll still be in the organization. That's just
- 35:31Speaker 3: the awkward part. Assuming they'll, they'll keep them around.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. That's weird. It's weird.
- 35:39Speaker 2: I mean, it's happened before Bob Brenly managed the Diamondbacks
- 35:42Speaker 2: and then he went, moved up to the TV booth.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Ozzie Guillen managed the White Sox left, came back. He's
- 35:48Speaker 2: in TV, but just to, to, to lose, be the manager,
- 35:52Speaker 2: kind of lose your job or he asked to be
- 35:54Speaker 2: replaced and stay in the organization.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I don't know. Is that, I guess it's awkward.
- 35:57Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I've never been in that situation.
- 35:59Speaker 2: So.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I don't know how that works, but I mean, Dan
- 36:02Speaker 2: Wilson's quality guy. I don't think he'll take anything personal
- 36:05Speaker 2: out of it, but he's, it's just, it's an interesting
- 36:07Speaker 2: move for me because is it Dan Wilson's fault?
- 36:10Speaker 1: Ask Mariner fans.
- 36:10Speaker 2: I'll say some of it is, but they'll also blame
- 36:13Speaker 2: they couldn't hit and they couldn't do a lot of things.
- 36:14Speaker 1: So I don't know.
- 36:16Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 36:17Speaker 1: It's an interesting.
- 36:22Speaker 3: It's always, Oh, it's definitely an interesting dynamic. The fact
- 36:25Speaker 3: that he's a legend and he's, been working for the
- 36:28Speaker 3: team and then he takes this job and it's like,
- 36:30Speaker 3: be careful of the job that you take. Is it
- 36:32Speaker 3: going to strain your relationship that you had as a
- 36:35Speaker 3: legend with the organization? I don't know. That's going to
- 36:38Speaker 3: be Jerry DePoto and ownership's job to figure that out
- 36:42Speaker 3: if he still holds a viable, usable situation. I mean,
- 36:45Speaker 3: Charlie Manuel managed for the Phillies. He's been with the
- 36:48Speaker 3: organization ever since. There's plenty of examples. But to me, ultimately,
- 36:52Speaker 3: you look at the team and you go, Why did
- 36:54Speaker 3: this team not do better? Yes, the players should have
- 36:59Speaker 3: done better. But when you get a year out of
- 37:01Speaker 3: Dominic Canzone, you should be able to capitalize. And there
- 37:05Speaker 3: was different things that just didn't go well, and I
- 37:08Speaker 3: think it sometimes lands on the manager.
- 37:25Speaker 2: All right, before we go, Todd Helton got a statue
- 37:27Speaker 2: outside of Coors Field. There was mixed opinions of it, but, hey,
- 37:30Speaker 2: I don't have a statue of me anywhere. So I
- 37:32Speaker 2: kind of do, but not life-size. So if they want
- 37:34Speaker 2: to make a statue of me, I don't care what
- 37:35Speaker 2: it looks like. It's pretty cool that Todd Helton has
- 37:37Speaker 2: a statue, and it's well-deserved in Colorado. The greatest player
- 37:41Speaker 2: in franchise history, right? He was there his entire career,
- 37:44Speaker 2: led him to the playoffs a few times, is in
- 37:46Speaker 2: the Hall of Fame as a Rocky, the greatest player
- 37:48Speaker 2: in Rockies history, correct?
- 37:51Speaker 3: Yes. Kids, if you need a baseball reference– Take 15
- 37:55Speaker 3: seconds and look up Todd Helton's numbers. And don't say, well,
- 37:59Speaker 3: he played in Colorado before he humid up. Just look
- 38:02Speaker 3: it up. There's plenty of people that have played. Pretty
- 38:05Speaker 3: impressive statue. Kind of weird, but they tried to recreate
- 38:10Speaker 3: that moment where I think they won the National League Championship.
- 38:13Speaker 2: They did where Eric Burns slid in and he caught
- 38:15Speaker 2: it and he threw both hands up in the air.
- 38:17Speaker 1: It was a cool moment.
- 38:20Speaker 2: A cool moment in Rockies history. If you're a Rockies fan,
- 38:23Speaker 2: you know exactly what we're talking about. That's what they
- 38:24Speaker 2: tried to recreate. Not all statues look great. Ask Dwayne
- 38:26Speaker 2: Wade down in Miami. People have complained about that one forever. So, Krabs,
- 38:29Speaker 2: what you got on your head?
- 38:30Speaker 3: A little minor league season ending up, unless they're still
- 38:36Speaker 3: in the playoffs, but a little Iron Pigs. Producer lady
- 38:41Speaker 3: hasn't seen an Iron Pigs hat forever, so she needed
- 38:44Speaker 3: to see one.
- 38:45Speaker 1: That's fair. That's fair.
- 38:46Speaker 2: By the way, people that don't know what goes on
- 38:48Speaker 2: behind the scenes here, You know, when we get good
- 38:50Speaker 2: interviews going, we get a guy like Buck going, and
- 38:52Speaker 2: then producer lady just sends you the knife. You know,
- 38:54Speaker 2: it's time to get to break. And there are times
- 38:57Speaker 2: where we just have to get to break. And then
- 38:59Speaker 2: we get questions. Sometimes people come up with questions in
- 39:01Speaker 2: our own chat that say, hey, what about asking Buck this?
- 39:04Speaker 2: And I don't want to make the boss angry. I
- 39:06Speaker 2: get yelled at enough from the boss and producer lady.
- 39:09Speaker 2: So we try to make everybody happy here on foul territory, Kratzy.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't.
- 39:15Speaker 3: I'm not afraid of Claudia.
- 39:18Speaker 1: No bad. Wrong thing to say. Sorry. Wrong thing to say.
- 39:22Speaker 3: She's not.
- 39:23Speaker 1: No.
- 39:24Speaker 3: She's a nice person. She's a nice person.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Sometimes. Sometimes.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Enjoy the three games. There's only three games tonight, by
- 39:32Speaker 2: the way. So enjoy the three games. Not a lot
