Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Life is like buds. You don't pass it. You survive it.
- 0:04Speaker 2: You know, man, like, but if you were to ask, Hey, rut,
- 0:07Speaker 2: how do I find more peace in my life? I'm
- 0:09Speaker 2: like blank. I have no idea what that is or
- 0:12Speaker 2: what it means. Every time I have an operator on,
- 0:16Speaker 2: I ask him this question. How do you find peace
- 0:20Speaker 2: in in the everyday pain of your life?
- 0:24Speaker 1: Yeah. You know, I know you're, I knew you were
- 0:26Speaker 1: going to ask this question and, um, because I listened, but, um,
- 0:30Speaker 1: but I do a couple of things. Number one, Welcome
- 0:35Speaker 1: back to the show, everybody.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Every so often, a person that I've been friends with
- 0:41Speaker 2: for a long time kind of hits my feet and
- 0:44Speaker 2: I start looking at what they're saying. I look at
- 0:47Speaker 2: what they're doing in their lives and I have that
- 0:50Speaker 2: little trigger, that little emotional just thing that hits me
- 0:55Speaker 2: and I'm filled with this just essentially pride that a
- 1:00Speaker 2: friend of mine is doing so well, making such a
- 1:03Speaker 2: positive impact on the world. in an effect in so
- 1:06Speaker 2: many lives in such a cool way. And just recently,
- 1:09Speaker 2: my friend Ray Cash Care hit my feed multiple times
- 1:13Speaker 2: with all the new stuff he's going on. And so
- 1:15Speaker 2: I just couldn't resist. And I reached out and just actually,
- 1:19Speaker 2: he reached out to me and was like, hey, Rutt,
- 1:21Speaker 2: what's going on? Checking on you, how you doing? And
- 1:24Speaker 2: it gave me the perfect opportunity to say, hey, Ray,
- 1:26Speaker 2: would you love to come on? So ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:29Speaker 2: without further ado, my friend Ray Cash Care.
- 1:32Speaker 1: What's up, brother? It's been a minute, huh? It's been
- 1:34Speaker 1: a long minute. It's been a long minute, dude. It's crazy.
- 1:38Speaker 1: It's crazy to me in our worlds.
- 1:41Speaker 2: And I know you talk about this, like you'll see
- 1:44Speaker 2: somebody engage with somebody and then you'll stop. And then
- 1:49Speaker 2: all of a sudden you engage with them again. And
- 1:50Speaker 2: you're like, Hey man, how long has it been? And
- 1:52Speaker 2: you're like 10 years, five years. Right.
- 1:57Speaker 1: But, you know, I don't I don't take that shit personal.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I mean, you're busy. I'm busy.
- 2:00Speaker 2: But, you know, when I you know, I think last
- 2:02Speaker 2: time we saw each other, we were in Florida together.
- 2:04Speaker 2: We were doing some event or something. But it's what
- 2:07Speaker 2: it is, man. People get busy. We got you know,
- 2:10Speaker 2: we got kids. We got families. You know, life life
- 2:13Speaker 2: goes on. I mean, and you know.
- 2:17Speaker 1: You're a hard man to get ahold of. I mean, I've,
- 2:19Speaker 1: I won't lie. I won't lie to you or your fans.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I fucking reach out a lot more to you than
- 2:22Speaker 1: you have me, but that's okay. Let's just address it.
- 2:26Speaker 2: One of the things that everybody will tell anybody who
- 2:30Speaker 2: listens is that I suck at paying attention and returning texts.
- 2:34Speaker 1: There's just nothing about it. I've never been good at it.
- 2:37Speaker 2: It's just, I admit, I am not good at, at
- 2:41Speaker 2: that portion of my friendships, man. It's just, I think,
- 2:45Speaker 2: you know, the whole thing for me is like the
- 2:47Speaker 2: post COVID thing really just like got me in this
- 2:52Speaker 2: like state of fear that every, you can lose everything
- 2:57Speaker 2: in a minute, in a second. And I think when,
- 3:00Speaker 2: when that happened and when I came out of it and,
- 3:04Speaker 2: you know, got the job with the asset management company speaking,
- 3:09Speaker 2: All I could think about is this is going to end.
- 3:12Speaker 2: This is going to end. This is going to end.
- 3:14Speaker 2: All right. They're going to fire me next week. They're
- 3:17Speaker 2: going to fire me in six months. They're going to
- 3:20Speaker 2: get sick of me. They're going to pick someone out.
- 3:22Speaker 2: And so all I've done for the last five years
- 3:25Speaker 2: is literally just put my head down. I'm on the
- 3:29Speaker 2: road every week for them, almost every week. And you know,
- 3:33Speaker 2: and then when the show came to me about a
- 3:35Speaker 2: year and a half ago, I add that in. And
- 3:38Speaker 2: it's like, I have just become the shittiest friend on
- 3:41Speaker 2: the planet to so many people that I was close with.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Cause like all that time, cause you know, the deal,
- 3:48Speaker 2: like you'll like, I used to have stretches where I'd
- 3:50Speaker 2: go for three weeks with no.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Gig, right? You're, you're a maniac.
- 3:55Speaker 2: You're always busy, but fucking, I would have these huge
- 3:58Speaker 2: gaps in my time where I would keep all those
- 4:01Speaker 2: relationships going. And, and now it's like, I, with four kids,
- 4:05Speaker 2: like you said, four kids, a wife, you know, full-time
- 4:09Speaker 2: job doing that. And then the show, it's like, man, I,
- 4:12Speaker 2: I don't have five, like five seconds to even fucking breathe,
- 4:16Speaker 2: much less be a good friend and keep in touch, dude. No,
- 4:20Speaker 2: you know, and let's, let's, let's face it. We're, but
- 4:23Speaker 2: we ain't getting fucking younger, man. I mean, I'm getting
- 4:25Speaker 2: ready to five in March.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And if, you know, between jujitsu and speaking and coaching
- 4:30Speaker 1: and other things I do, And the only thing I
- 4:32Speaker 1: want to do is sit my ass down, either getting
- 4:34Speaker 1: a cold plunge to recover or spend, you know, we're
- 4:37Speaker 1: empty nesters now. So that's, that's, that's right. That's right.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Podcast on just empty nesters, man. And, uh, you know,
- 4:45Speaker 1: there are definitely perks of it. You know, you walk
- 4:47Speaker 1: around the house with no clothes on cause you ain't
- 4:48Speaker 1: got kids around and things like that. But in the
- 4:52Speaker 1: same token, man, I just, I miss, I miss the noise.
- 4:55Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Like silence is sometimes really deafening and it's just like,
- 5:00Speaker 2: Me and my wife have just had these epiphanies where
- 5:02Speaker 2: we're like, fuck man, we're getting old. Like, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 2: like I look at life like a sunrise and a sunset.
- 5:08Speaker 2: That's kind of how I've always, that's been my symbolism
- 5:10Speaker 2: of life. And 55, man, I mean, it's.
- 5:14Speaker 1: More on the setting side than it is. It ain't,
- 5:18Speaker 1: it ain't noon anymore, brother. When we look up the
- 5:20Speaker 1: word land, it's, it's over here. It's like, shit, it's
- 5:23Speaker 1: getting dark, you know? Dude. And it's, Hey, let me
- 5:26Speaker 1: ask you a question about that. Cause I, I find
- 5:27Speaker 1: that fascinating too.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Cause I think us, our perception of time is skewed
- 5:32Speaker 2: compared to most normal people.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:35Speaker 2: And I think it's a relative to how many friends
- 5:38Speaker 2: that we have that are dead. I think how many
- 5:40Speaker 2: friends that we have that are in bad shape, um,
- 5:44Speaker 2: you know, you know, and then what we see on
- 5:47Speaker 2: a regular basis with coaching and speaking, because we are,
- 5:51Speaker 2: you have so much access to so many people that
- 5:53Speaker 2: are struggling.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Like you're like, you become, I think you become so
- 5:56Speaker 1: much more.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Attuned to that time, that time like, as you said, man,
- 6:01Speaker 2: like for us, it's, it's setting and like, holy shit,
- 6:04Speaker 2: I still got a lot of shit I want to
- 6:06Speaker 2: get done.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Like, so, but is it really, let me, and let
- 6:11Speaker 1: me ask this in the right way. Yes.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Our perception of that time is more existential. It's more acute, right?
- 6:18Speaker 2: We're running out of time that we can be as
- 6:21Speaker 2: active and as efficient and as focused as we are.
- 6:25Speaker 2: But the other part is like you said, man, like,
- 6:29Speaker 2: if I'm sitting still, I'm fucking miserable.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Right. Like, and, and John, my wife laughs at me.
- 6:35Speaker 1: She's like, you could, you could, you know, you could.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Have all these successes, finish all these projects done and,
- 6:43Speaker 2: and you'd be done and be like, Oh great. You
- 6:45Speaker 2: can have six months down now. And you'd, you'd fuck
- 6:47Speaker 2: it up in the next, in the first.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Week after that. That's the truth though, too, isn't it? Yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 1: it is the truth.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Well, welcome to be an apex predator, brother. You, you get,
- 6:56Speaker 2: you get, you get the taste of blood and you
- 6:58Speaker 2: want it. I mean, that's, that's what we do. You know,
- 7:00Speaker 2: that's what we've done so long. And, for so long,
- 7:03Speaker 2: excuse me, is just, you know, we've hunt, we've conquered,
- 7:06Speaker 2: we've killed per se, right? You know, whatever, not, it
- 7:10Speaker 2: doesn't have to be people, just our mission. We've accomplished it.
- 7:14Speaker 2: And then, you know, that's a buzz.
- 7:16Speaker 1: That's a high. You know, I fucking love feeling like
- 7:18Speaker 1: that's why I'm doing jiu-jitsu now. I walk around like
- 7:20Speaker 1: Tim Conway off of Carol Burnett now because I'm so
- 7:23Speaker 1: damn sore. But it makes me feel alive.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Dude, well, you're probably still like rolling with the fucking
- 7:31Speaker 2: studs because you're a maniac. I am and I pay
- 7:34Speaker 2: for it. Like, if you ask me what hurts, it's like, yes.
- 7:37Speaker 2: They're like, wait a minute, I didn't even ask you,
- 7:38Speaker 2: but yes. I'm going to answer yes. Like from here down,
- 7:42Speaker 2: it hurts. Dude, there's this thing called old man jujitsu, Ray.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You know, you get, you part. I'm transitioning. I listen,
- 7:51Speaker 1: you know, they say you should get older. You get wiser.
- 7:53Speaker 1: This is what I know. I'm a lot grayer. I'm
- 7:56Speaker 1: getting a little wiser.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I'm, I'm, I'm starting, I'm starting to see that, you know,
- 8:00Speaker 2: we're not, I mean, I remember the rut from back
- 8:02Speaker 2: in the day, superhero, man, you know, the short hair, the.
- 8:05Speaker 1: The red pants, all this, you know, you're a savage.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Um, but it's the little wins now, you know, like
- 8:12Speaker 2: if I go to bed at night, I mean, this
- 8:13Speaker 2: is for the audience.
- 8:14Speaker 1: It's a little older. If I don't have to get
- 8:15Speaker 1: up and piss at night, it's a win. It's a victory.
- 8:18Speaker 1: That is a win, but it's amazing how things change.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Perceptions change. Yes.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Yeah. What, you know, I used to want the fame
- 8:28Speaker 2: and the fortune, you know, now I just want to
- 8:31Speaker 2: be happy. You know, I've been so, so focused and
- 8:35Speaker 2: driven on, you know, trying to be the best at everything.
- 8:38Speaker 2: You know, I, and I don't know about you, but
- 8:40Speaker 2: I put the wrong things on the back burner and
- 8:43Speaker 2: that's my wife and kids.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, man, you know, you're looking at a new
- 8:47Speaker 1: and improved me, man. You're a man of God. I'm
- 8:49Speaker 1: a just, I family first, baby. That's what I do, man.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Like if, well, you know, what's.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Crazy is like, even though I know like you, you
- 8:59Speaker 2: are the pinnacle of grinders, right? There's, there's people out
- 9:02Speaker 2: there that, that profess they grind. And then there's people
- 9:05Speaker 2: that really grind. And as long as I've ever known you, man,
- 9:08Speaker 2: you you're full tilt, you're full out always. And, and
- 9:12Speaker 2: even in the midst of that, I've, I've always heard
- 9:15Speaker 2: you talk about like, uh, your wife in a place
- 9:18Speaker 2: of reverence and your kids.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And it's, it's.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Cool to hear like, Oh no, now that's the priority.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Right. You know? And, and so let me ask you this, obviously,
- 9:32Speaker 1: In our world.
- 9:33Speaker 2: And, and for those that, that, you know, for whatever,
- 9:37Speaker 2: wherever position that you hold operators or former operators at, um,
- 9:44Speaker 2: you know, I think it's often they, they believe that
- 9:47Speaker 2: there's just, there's an opportunity on every corner for us. Right.
- 9:52Speaker 2: And I always talk about, yeah, dude, when I first
- 9:54Speaker 2: started doing what I'm doing back in like, Oh, six.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Was a lot more opportunities. Nobody was really out there.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Doing it, you know? Well, now there are 400 Navy
- 10:09Speaker 1: SEALs speaking and coaching and training and teaching and leadership
- 10:14Speaker 1: courses and all that. And so it's like, This is
- 10:16Speaker 1: cutthroat as hell. And then there's.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Another 500 green berets and another 200 rate Marine Raiders.
- 10:24Speaker 2: And there's, you know, all these agency guys out there
- 10:27Speaker 2: now and all, you know, and it's like, like, dude,
- 10:30Speaker 2: the market is utterly saturated with, in quotations, operators professing
- 10:37Speaker 2: to know how to, you know, teach other people.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And so, you know, what, what I.
- 10:43Speaker 2: See is the, the, the, um, what, um, the hospitality of,
- 10:50Speaker 2: Amongst peers has diminished substantially. And it's the guys that
- 10:55Speaker 2: don't like focus on all that other shit and only
- 10:59Speaker 2: deliver a quality service that, you know, that works. And, and,
- 11:04Speaker 2: and that keeps you employed. That keeps you going. That
- 11:07Speaker 2: keeps that working. motivation to keep delivering something that's unique
- 11:11Speaker 2: and different. And that's what I've always seen with you, right?
- 11:15Speaker 2: In this, this host of, of dozens and dozens of,
- 11:19Speaker 2: you know, good guys that are really have something unique
- 11:23Speaker 2: and interesting to pitch. You're always in the mix at
- 11:25Speaker 2: the forefront of that crew.
- 11:27Speaker 1: And what I always.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Wondered, did you like, you know, now that you have
- 11:32Speaker 2: this new focus of wife and kids, how did you
- 11:35Speaker 2: take the pressure at your, off yourself? to try and maintain,
- 11:40Speaker 2: you know, being at the top of that class of people.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Doing whatever it is we do.
- 11:47Speaker 2: You know, I don't know if I've ever taken the
- 11:49Speaker 2: pressure off, but I, I think I just, you know,
- 11:52Speaker 2: I mean, I know I'm talking to another brother here,
- 11:54Speaker 2: but I've, uh, I've just come to terms with like,
- 11:59Speaker 2: when I first started the business, man, I was a
- 12:00Speaker 2: fucking fraud.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I was trying to be like, I'm not gonna lie.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I'd watch you. I'd watch the people that were doing it.
- 12:06Speaker 1: And I would like, I would, I would like plagiarize
- 12:09Speaker 1: pieces of what people did, your energy, Jocko's intensity. This
- 12:13Speaker 1: guy's this.
- 12:15Speaker 2: And I don't know, man, I just had epiphany where
- 12:17Speaker 2: it was like, you know, you know what, Ray, you're you,
- 12:20Speaker 2: you don't have, you don't have the story of Rob O'Neill,
- 12:23Speaker 2: you know, people in the red that you weren't shot
- 12:25Speaker 2: 26 times, you know, and I'm going to be with
- 12:26Speaker 2: Jason tonight and the trails, but what you are, man,
- 12:30Speaker 2: is you're authentic and you just love people. And I
- 12:33Speaker 2: was just like, when I started being me and stopped
- 12:37Speaker 2: worrying about, you know, listen, I mean, dude, I remember
- 12:41Speaker 2: when I, I couldn't, I mean, I know you still
- 12:43Speaker 2: do your things. You're a lot more quieter, but back
- 12:45Speaker 2: in the day, man, if people didn't know you, I mean,
- 12:47Speaker 2: the feed was you standing on a table with a
- 12:50Speaker 2: pair of red pants, Boston red.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Side, you were everywhere. And I was like, but that's
- 12:56Speaker 1: what team guys do.
- 12:57Speaker 2: They're like, fuck, I want that. You know, like he's doing, um,
- 13:02Speaker 2: you were cool enough back in the day to give
- 13:04Speaker 2: me some advice. A lot of guys have, but there's
- 13:06Speaker 2: a lot of guys out there that don't, that don't
- 13:07Speaker 2: want to pass on that knowledge. And I think all
- 13:10Speaker 2: I did was I just, you know, I do a
- 13:12Speaker 2: lot of reflection drills. I still do a lot of that,
- 13:14Speaker 2: you know, Navy seal box breathing, all the things that
- 13:16Speaker 2: we do. And I just took a hard look in
- 13:19Speaker 2: the mirror and said, listen, you are who you are.
- 13:21Speaker 2: And the only way that this is going to work
- 13:24Speaker 2: is if you stop trying to pretend to be other
- 13:26Speaker 2: people or, or utilize people's parts. So you know, I
- 13:30Speaker 2: tell everybody I'm not everybody's cup of tea. Cause I'm
- 13:32Speaker 2: a strong cup of coffee. I mean, that's, that's what
- 13:36Speaker 2: I am. Um, and it's, but I will tell you,
- 13:39Speaker 2: you know, we, we were talking about, you know, the
- 13:41Speaker 2: new venture that I'm doing with Rob O'Neill and them.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Um, we, I will get into that later.
- 13:47Speaker 2: That's what we need to do more of instead of
- 13:49Speaker 2: competing with each other.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yes. Work together, you know, like there is enough to
- 13:54Speaker 1: go around. Like there is, are you kidding me?
- 13:57Speaker 2: That's it. I, Like people, I, I, I, you know, I,
- 14:00Speaker 2: I would, I, I don't get them anymore, but I
- 14:03Speaker 2: would get regular calls like a rut.
- 14:06Speaker 1: You know, I actually, I just got one.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I just got one from a friend who just decided
- 14:12Speaker 2: to like, start doing like online, like shorts or clips.
- 14:16Speaker 2: And he went from like 1500 followers to 108,000 followers
- 14:21Speaker 2: in like two weeks.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Damn. And he, you know, he called me up and
- 14:24Speaker 1: he's like, well, what do I do now? And how
- 14:26Speaker 1: do I do this?
- 14:27Speaker 2: And I was like, well, all right, you know, you can,
- 14:30Speaker 2: you need to be on a speakers, multiple speakers bureaus.
- 14:33Speaker 2: And then if they think you're fit, that's good, but
- 14:35Speaker 2: they're not going to get you all the jobs. You
- 14:37Speaker 2: still have to have presence and on your videos do this. And,
- 14:40Speaker 2: and so like, I'm introducing him to a couple of
- 14:43Speaker 2: speakers bureaus. I've said, Hey, on your, things. Do you
- 14:46Speaker 2: need help? Like Jordy's amazing at clips. He can help
- 14:49Speaker 2: coach you through what that does and all this. Like,
- 14:52Speaker 2: I don't give a fuck, man. My whole thing is like,
- 14:55Speaker 2: if I know you and I think you're a good,
- 14:57Speaker 2: decent human being, like let's, okay, let's figure it out.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Let's fuck. And that's why when I saw you guys
- 15:03Speaker 2: come together with this collect the operators collective, I was
- 15:07Speaker 2: so fucking thankful because I was so sick of, Oh,
- 15:13Speaker 2: he's a fucking liar and he sucks and they're liars
- 15:17Speaker 2: and fucking SEALs suck and Rangers are awesome and SF
- 15:20Speaker 2: sucks and... marine, you know, I'm like, holy fuck, what
- 15:23Speaker 2: the hell is going on right now?
- 15:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:25Speaker 2: And so when you guys came together to form this
- 15:29Speaker 2: like collective group, I was like, God, that's fucking genius, man.
- 15:34Speaker 1: It's such a, will you, will you talk about the
- 15:37Speaker 1: auspice of this and how you guys figured this out?
- 15:39Speaker 2: So, um, operators collective was obviously founded by Rob O'Neill,
- 15:43Speaker 2: who If you don't know who he is, you live
- 15:45Speaker 2: under a fucking rock. And then the manager of it,
- 15:48Speaker 2: his name's Ari. I can't pronounce his last name. Great
- 15:50Speaker 2: guy out of New York. And he's worked with some
- 15:52Speaker 2: of the best. And what they decided to do is
- 15:55Speaker 2: just kind of interview to get different personalities and individuals
- 16:01Speaker 2: into a speaking bureau instead of like, Hey, you know,
- 16:04Speaker 2: the speaking bureau is already going. You have to apply
- 16:06Speaker 2: for it. We're going to create a speaking bureau and
- 16:08Speaker 2: we're going to expand. So kind of like the dirty
- 16:11Speaker 2: dozen and you've got, You know, me, Will's on there,
- 16:14Speaker 2: Will Chesney.
- 16:15Speaker 1: You know, you got Danielle Martin. She's like a big
- 16:18Speaker 1: jujitsu girl. Scotty Oates. I know, you know, Scotty. Oh,
- 16:21Speaker 1: love Scotty.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Scotty's on there. Dan's on there. The old red team guy.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I mean, we've got Jeff gum, you know?
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah, man. Awesome.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Kaj was, but I think he had to hang up
- 16:33Speaker 2: those cleats. He's working for big Pete right now.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I saw that. I saw that recently.
- 16:39Speaker 2: We have this great group of individuals and we put
- 16:43Speaker 2: on events and Um, and we just back each other.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Like I've did my first event with Rob and you know,
- 16:49Speaker 2: he's fucking something else.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Bro. He's a pro man. He's a fucking pro. I
- 16:54Speaker 1: kind of open for him. And that's the thing, right?
- 16:56Speaker 2: Like the first thing that everybody, like we all agree
- 17:00Speaker 2: on is listen, leave the egos at the door, man.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Listen, it's, it's Rob show. We got that. Like, yeah,
- 17:06Speaker 1: if I'm getting a paycheck, I'm doing what I love
- 17:08Speaker 1: and I'm providing for my family. dude, I'll sweep the floors.
- 17:11Speaker 1: You know, like I'm beyond all that. You always got
- 17:14Speaker 1: to clean the shitters sometimes. Jeff Campbell's on it now too, Jeff. Dude,
- 17:19Speaker 1: love Jeff. So, you know, I remember when his, and
- 17:22Speaker 1: he used to, he's a great guy now, but back
- 17:24Speaker 1: in the day, man, he even said world's biggest recovering asshole.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Like he was an angry man. I'm going to see him.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I'm not picking a fight with him. He probably kicked
- 17:32Speaker 1: my ass, but.
- 17:33Speaker 2: He was a misunderstood human being. Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 1: We just got all these people that are like, they've got,
- 17:39Speaker 1: you know, their, their pieces of their zones of genius. And,
- 17:44Speaker 1: you know, we're doing all these things. We have a
- 17:46Speaker 1: big event coming up in November. Yeah. Talk about that.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Talk about it.
- 17:50Speaker 2: It's called the apex protocol where it is, um, Las Vegas, November.
- 17:56Speaker 1: 20 through 23. And it's going to entail, uh, two
- 18:01Speaker 1: days at staccato ranch. Um, we're going to be doing some,
- 18:04Speaker 1: you know, I'll, I'll explain all this to you later.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Cause I know you don't know what it is, but,
- 18:08Speaker 1: But CQC, Kill House. What's that? We're going to be doing.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Actually, you know, it's funny, Ray, and I don't mean
- 18:16Speaker 2: to cut you off, but it's so funny. I don't
- 18:19Speaker 2: know what it is anymore.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Like the whole from the time we were in and
- 18:24Speaker 1: how we ran it. Oh yeah. What it is now.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Now they're doing all this shit. I know, man. Oh dude.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Like every, you're shooting through windows, you're pying everything you
- 18:33Speaker 2: can fucking. I like, I'm, I, I am, I listen, dude,
- 18:38Speaker 2: I'd get, if I was in a train, I'd get
- 18:41Speaker 2: the guy next to me killed.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Oh dude. Muzzle ups, muzzle down. What are we doing
- 18:44Speaker 1: with the muzzle? What are we doing with the muzzle? Um, yeah,
- 18:47Speaker 1: but it's going to be, we're building up, we're doing
- 18:50Speaker 1: a mile shot, you know, obviously doing a bunch of
- 18:52Speaker 1: cool stuff there. Static dynamic movement. Great facility too. Yeah.
- 18:56Speaker 2: So with people don't know the means beginner moving to
- 18:59Speaker 2: more intermediate to who knows, depending on the audience, maybe
- 19:03Speaker 2: some advanced work, multi-room entries, you know, practice and simulating breach,
- 19:09Speaker 2: doing some stuff like that. Followed by some very select dinners,
- 19:14Speaker 2: some very exclusive dinners followed by campfire side chats. Now,
- 19:18Speaker 2: a lot of people ask, what is that sitting by
- 19:20Speaker 2: a campfire? No, what it means is putting down the
- 19:23Speaker 2: phones and, imagine that putting down the phones, no recording
- 19:28Speaker 2: and just having real fucking conversations. Um, not a time
- 19:32Speaker 2: to embellish, you know, like, Oh, I, you know, I
- 19:34Speaker 2: did this and did that. Just, you know, if somebody
- 19:36Speaker 2: asks you a question, sometimes you might get, you might
- 19:39Speaker 2: not get the book version of it. You might get
- 19:41Speaker 2: a different version of it, More raw version. After those
- 19:45Speaker 2: two days, we're doing F1. F1' s there. We got the
- 19:47Speaker 2: best seats in the house in Vegas. I'm a huge
- 19:51Speaker 2: automotive enthusiast, so that's pretty cool seeing that kind.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Of power there.
- 19:54Speaker 2: That's really cool. I've heard that event is growing into
- 19:58Speaker 2: one of.
- 19:58Speaker 1: The coolest events. Vegas is insane.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Then the final day, I think it's Dragon. I can't
- 20:05Speaker 2: remember what the name of it was, but exclusive golf.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah. you know, teams of golf. I mean, I've got,
- 20:12Speaker 1: I signed like five people up friends of mine.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I'll have seven of my team there, but I think
- 20:17Speaker 2: we're only taking 20 or 25 people, very exclusive.
- 20:20Speaker 1: You know, there is a price point.
- 20:21Speaker 2: If anybody ever wants it, you can go to the
- 20:22Speaker 2: operators collective or you can hit me up and I
- 20:25Speaker 2: can talk you to it, but it's just going to
- 20:27Speaker 2: be a great time where we just kind of let
- 20:30Speaker 2: her hair down and just really train and network and
- 20:33Speaker 2: talk and communicate. And I think we need more of
- 20:37Speaker 2: this shit because we, you know, post COVID man, everybody
- 20:40Speaker 2: turned into introverts and now there's AI that, you know, Lily,
- 20:45Speaker 2: I'm surprised. I, I just didn't type something up on
- 20:48Speaker 2: AI and have you talk to an AI version. I
- 20:51Speaker 2: literally just saw a video this morning of a dude
- 20:54Speaker 2: that had a job interview AI person. And then he
- 20:59Speaker 2: built the person that was interviewing for the job interview
- 21:03Speaker 2: in an AI person. And they, they, after he left
- 21:06Speaker 2: the room, the AI guy was like, thank you so much.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Let me know if I can help call any times.
- 21:12Speaker 2: And then this guy was the other, the other AI
- 21:14Speaker 2: was like, thank you so much. I'll get back to you.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I'll email you. Then the other guy was, thank you
- 21:19Speaker 2: so much. I'll look for the email that, and it
- 21:21Speaker 2: just didn't stop. Like it couldn't stop itself and it
- 21:24Speaker 2: just kept going. And I'm like, holy shit, where are
- 21:27Speaker 2: we right now, man? So that, that personal contact I've
- 21:32Speaker 2: always found like even more so than the training aspect,
- 21:35Speaker 2: which is always super cool. Everybody likes that. But I
- 21:39Speaker 2: always found that those intimate moments where people can ask,
- 21:44Speaker 2: ask you a real question and you're going to give
- 21:47Speaker 2: a real answer. Like that is the transformational point for
- 21:53Speaker 2: these people that are involved. Now, like the one thing
- 21:55Speaker 2: that I always see that drives me nuts is like,
- 21:59Speaker 2: you know, if you are part of the certain, uh,
- 22:01Speaker 2: trained programs that really people want to sign up and
- 22:05Speaker 2: they want to beat down and there's something really positive
- 22:08Speaker 2: to that, right? It's that positive application of pain. You
- 22:11Speaker 2: talk about pain all the time in your stuff as like,
- 22:14Speaker 2: and that's like, I love that, that that's, that we're
- 22:17Speaker 2: similar in that focus. And I think a lot of
- 22:19Speaker 2: us focus on that, but you know, in these contexts,
- 22:23Speaker 2: when you're in those discussions, like it's a different assessment, right.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Then whether or not you can be freezing, laying down
- 22:30Speaker 2: in the surf or you can, you know, uh, patrol
- 22:34Speaker 2: all night with a, you know, a hundred pound rock
- 22:36Speaker 2: or whatever it is, but these are just the different ones.
- 22:39Speaker 2: And I think that's, what's going to draw people to
- 22:42Speaker 2: you guys more than anything, right.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Is being able to access those conversations. Yeah. Yeah. No,
- 22:48Speaker 1: I hear you. I mean, it's, the world is changing, man.
- 22:51Speaker 1: It's just, and you know, I'm, I'm only willing to
- 22:55Speaker 1: conform so much, you know, I'm setting my ways.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Like I won't change my morals. You know, I'm not
- 23:01Speaker 2: a guy who's gonna, you know, if I don't like somebody,
- 23:04Speaker 2: I'll tell somebody I don't like them. I've always been
- 23:05Speaker 2: that way. You know, if I do like somebody, I
- 23:08Speaker 2: won't let somebody talk shit about somebody behind their back.
- 23:10Speaker 2: You know, like I love you. If someone said, you know,
- 23:13Speaker 2: Dave's a real POS, I'd be like, Hey, watch it.
- 23:15Speaker 2: But if someone said, Hey, Dave's, fucking miserable at reaching
- 23:19Speaker 2: back to people i'll be like let me tell you
- 23:20Speaker 2: what that piece of shit.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I own that for sure no i'm kidding but i
- 23:28Speaker 1: just think um all this technology like here's what drives
- 23:32Speaker 1: me nuts about today i don't know what's real and
- 23:33Speaker 1: what's not i know this is real me and you
- 23:36Speaker 1: yeah for sure that's i miss the real i miss
- 23:38Speaker 1: the interaction shit I remember how, like, I guess I've
- 23:42Speaker 1: never done a dating app.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I'm still, I still have, I still have my woodlands
- 23:45Speaker 2: camis in the, in the closet.
- 23:47Speaker 1: That's how old I am. I don't, you know, I
- 23:50Speaker 1: don't wear the cry. I still like the old school shit.
- 23:53Speaker 1: That's so awesome. I asked my wife out. People are like,
- 23:56Speaker 1: oh man, that's so much work. You just swipe left
- 23:58Speaker 1: and right.
- 23:58Speaker 2: I'm like, that takes, it takes the, it's like, I'd
- 24:02Speaker 2: rather go out and hunt and kill something than go
- 24:03Speaker 2: to the grocery store and buy it. Yes. One's more convenient,
- 24:07Speaker 2: but I miss, I miss the art of, accomplishing the
- 24:11Speaker 2: mission you know what i mean yeah yeah it's well
- 24:14Speaker 2: i think you nailed it it's the idea of what's
- 24:16Speaker 2: genuine and what's not and and the more like i
- 24:20Speaker 2: actually saw another thing yesterday thanks everybody for paying attention
- 24:24Speaker 2: to this episode uh i hate to interrupt but i
- 24:26Speaker 2: have to give credit where credit is due and that's
- 24:30Speaker 2: to our number one sponsor black rifle coffee they.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Finally came out And they named.
- 24:36Speaker 2: A coffee after me. And this is the rut coffee
- 24:40Speaker 2: right there. And so if you know anything about me
- 24:44Speaker 2: and instructor rut, you know who I am and what,
- 24:47Speaker 2: and they've been so brilliant to depict me as some,
- 24:50Speaker 2: you know, massive, beautiful elk with like a 26 million point,
- 24:55Speaker 2: you know, rack up there.
- 24:57Speaker 1: In this beautiful crown.
- 24:59Speaker 2: So I, you know, I, if, if you haven't tried
- 25:02Speaker 2: rut coffee yet, which is named after me, for sure. 100%.
- 25:06Speaker 2: And thanks BRCC. I really appreciate the tribute there to
- 25:11Speaker 2: old ruddy rut, right? Go out there, head over to
- 25:14Speaker 2: black rifle coffee, head over to the web website, look
- 25:17Speaker 2: up rut. And, uh, as you check out, just, uh,
- 25:21Speaker 2: you know, put in, uh, Frog logic to zero. And
- 25:25Speaker 2: you get your discount code on there for me. This
- 25:28Speaker 2: is what Kings drink right here. Cause that's why it's
- 25:31Speaker 2: called rut coffee. So thank you very much. Appreciate it boys.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Let's get back to the show. Like young influencers on,
- 25:39Speaker 2: on the gram now are offering free, programs without your
- 25:44Speaker 2: phone to disconnect for real genuine interaction. And for us,
- 25:49Speaker 2: I'm like, what the fuck are you talking about? This
- 25:51Speaker 2: is what we do, man. We've been doing this for
- 25:53Speaker 2: 20 fucking years. And now you're telling me that you're
- 25:57Speaker 2: doing something new. Are you out of your mind? Like what,
- 26:00Speaker 2: what are you talking about? But But again, like I
- 26:03Speaker 2: guess now we're in a place where human interaction is
- 26:09Speaker 2: what's vintage and now is retro, right?
- 26:12Speaker 1: So we're in our retro moment of human interaction.
- 26:15Speaker 2: We see it all the time. Kids are wearing shirts
- 26:17Speaker 2: and shit that we grew up. Like I'm friends with
- 26:18Speaker 2: Todd Smith. You know him as LL Cool J.
- 26:20Speaker 1: My daughter one day is like, daddy, daddy, you said
- 26:23Speaker 1: this LL Cool J guy is really good. I'm like, what? Yeah. Like,
- 26:27Speaker 1: you know, I had another one like. I was up
- 26:30Speaker 1: in college and they're playing Sugar Hill Gang and they're like,
- 26:33Speaker 1: no one knows the words. I'm like, I started singing it.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I'm like, fast five, Freddie. Yeah, man. They just, you know,
- 26:42Speaker 1: it's amazing. We do this. We go in cycles, you know? Yeah.
- 26:45Speaker 1: What's amazing is when we were kids, there was no
- 26:47Speaker 1: fucking cell phones. Yeah, man.
- 26:49Speaker 2: But yet I always knew where that special girl was.
- 26:53Speaker 2: I always knew where my guys were. And I always
- 26:55Speaker 2: tried to rewind in my watch because you know how
- 26:57Speaker 2: the deal was. You went out as early as you could.
- 26:59Speaker 2: You came in when the lights came on. If you
- 27:01Speaker 2: were late, you started coming up with bullshit stories. Cause
- 27:06Speaker 2: that's when the beatings.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Were still, that's right. Part of it.
- 27:09Speaker 2: And you took your beating like a man and you
- 27:11Speaker 2: just did the same thing the next day.
- 27:13Speaker 1: The next night. That's right. That's awesome. That's awesome. All right.
- 27:17Speaker 2: So as people come into the operators collective.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Is all right.
- 27:23Speaker 2: How do you guys, cause this is the interesting thing.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Cause there's so much talent there. There's so many guys
- 27:29Speaker 2: that have such really unique perspectives, right? There is the
- 27:34Speaker 2: overlay of coming from the community, but everything that I
- 27:38Speaker 2: see with your guys is they've taken all that and
- 27:43Speaker 2: then they've built on this framework of how they perceive
- 27:46Speaker 2: what training looks like, what the evolution of the heart
- 27:50Speaker 2: and the mind look like, however you break it down.
- 27:53Speaker 1: How do you guys.
- 27:55Speaker 2: integrate those things so they support one another well i
- 28:01Speaker 2: mean the way that we've started off now is like
- 28:05Speaker 2: you know like we recently had a poker match right
- 28:08Speaker 2: so um it's kind of like anything else man like
- 28:13Speaker 2: yes we've all earned our seat at the table we
- 28:16Speaker 2: were at but rob is like listen you got to
- 28:18Speaker 2: earn your seat here too like what do you mean
- 28:19Speaker 2: like Listen, if you want to come to the poker event,
- 28:22Speaker 2: you've got to go out.
- 28:24Speaker 1: And recruit one or two people to come to it. Okay. Yeah.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I recruit nine.
- 28:29Speaker 2: You know, hey, if you want to do the Vegas event,
- 28:31Speaker 2: we want you to bring a person. Then we're going
- 28:33Speaker 2: to do this and this. Right? Like, it's like anything else.
- 28:37Speaker 2: I like it because it makes me feel like I'm
- 28:39Speaker 2: back in the teams because you've got to earn your keep, man. Yeah, man.
- 28:43Speaker 2: And then what we do with that is like case
- 28:45Speaker 2: in point. I don't know if you saw it, but
- 28:46Speaker 2: Rob just spoke at one of the Trump rallies. And
- 28:51Speaker 2: he had, he had, he had will with him and Clint.
- 28:53Speaker 2: I'm not going to Clint Emerson.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I got a lot. Yeah. Clint Emerson. Make sure I
- 28:56Speaker 1: say it right. Oh, sorry. And I always say the
- 28:59Speaker 1: other name.
- 29:00Speaker 2: And then Ari called me up and said, Hey man,
- 29:03Speaker 2: you've been grinding. You want to come to the next one?
- 29:05Speaker 2: And I'm like, I can't because I do coaching on
- 29:08Speaker 2: those days. He's like, okay, I'll tell Mr. Trump that,
- 29:10Speaker 2: but he just goes down the line with the people
- 29:13Speaker 2: that are producing.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Now it's.
- 29:16Speaker 2: And when, when I say that, it's not just about
- 29:18Speaker 2: making the money. It's about, you know, showing, putting in
- 29:21Speaker 2: the effort and the time to want to be.
- 29:23Speaker 1: On that stage.
- 29:24Speaker 2: To support the brand too, right? And you're building a brand.
- 29:28Speaker 1: That's right. It's, it's really hard to do, man.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I remember, I remember when, when Marcus and Mal, they started,
- 29:35Speaker 2: you know, the team never quit Speakers Bureau, right? And,
- 29:38Speaker 2: and initially, it was the same people that had been
- 29:41Speaker 2: a part of the Patriot tour and, and then, and,
- 29:44Speaker 2: you know, and they got it to a certain degree,
- 29:46Speaker 2: but man, all right.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Those things are difficult, right?
- 29:49Speaker 2: People don't realize that just cause you're on a speakers
- 29:53Speaker 2: bureau doesn't mean you're, you're turning down, uh, 25 speeches
- 29:57Speaker 2: a day, right? Like, like you're still grinding, you're still
- 30:00Speaker 2: staying relevant. You're still, you know, you still have to
- 30:04Speaker 2: let everybody know that what you speak about is relevant
- 30:07Speaker 2: and can impact their life in a relatively, uh, quick
- 30:11Speaker 2: period of time. And, and, and that, you know, and
- 30:14Speaker 2: I think, I think watching you guys come together and
- 30:19Speaker 2: is really just It's the next iteration of that, right?
- 30:23Speaker 2: Of what, what the, just the speakers bureau does. It's,
- 30:26Speaker 2: it's like, no, we're all going to contribute. We're all
- 30:30Speaker 2: going to enhance the brand. So then that the brand
- 30:33Speaker 2: is going to benefit. Then we all benefit down range
- 30:35Speaker 2: from it. Like that, that platoon mentality.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Create impact, leave a legacy and have some fucking fun
- 30:41Speaker 2: while you're doing it. That's what Rob says.
- 30:43Speaker 1: I mean, that's pretty, you know, he'll be like, Hey,
- 30:45Speaker 1: let me make it easy for you. Right. And I'm like, okay.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Cause you know, we sat and we had a meeting
- 30:49Speaker 2: of the minds and Rob was just like, you know,
- 30:52Speaker 2: this is what we want to do.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Plus there's listen in all communities.
- 30:55Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not going to say who, but there's
- 30:57Speaker 2: a lot of backstabbing and a lot of this, this
- 30:59Speaker 2: bro shit stuff going on, bro.
- 31:01Speaker 1: That's shit going on right now. I was called that.
- 31:04Speaker 1: And I thought at first it was a compliment, like bro.
- 31:06Speaker 3: And I'm like, but I miss the days back in
- 31:12Speaker 3: the early days of the platoons when just, you know,
- 31:15Speaker 3: everybody had everybody's back.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Now it's, you know, I mean, you know, you know,
- 31:19Speaker 1: what's going on with Kennedy. I've been talking, I've been
- 31:21Speaker 1: talking to Tim for the last month and a half. So,
- 31:22Speaker 1: you know, is he okay? Is he good? He's going
- 31:25Speaker 1: to be all right. He's recovering, you know, but good,
- 31:28Speaker 1: you know, it's coming, it comes out a month later
- 31:30Speaker 1: and then everybody's like.
- 31:31Speaker 2: The comments, like the guy, the guy got shot three times,
- 31:36Speaker 2: no matter what happened before that. You know, I love Timmy,
- 31:39Speaker 2: you know, me and Redmond been talking a lot, but
- 31:42Speaker 2: like people are always fake.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I hope he dies. I'm like, Jesus Christ, man. Well,
- 31:46Speaker 1: I use that word, but yeah, yeah.
- 31:48Speaker 2: You're other vets, bro. It's, it's, it's insane now. Like
- 31:56Speaker 2: it's fucking insane. I, I, I dealt with it. My
- 32:00Speaker 2: first real experience was in our, our, whatever that old
- 32:05Speaker 2: chat was. And someone had posted a, a, some company
- 32:10Speaker 2: I'd worked for had ripped the piece and put it
- 32:12Speaker 2: up on this goal cast. motivational site and, and it went,
- 32:16Speaker 2: and it was me talking about Mikey Monsoor and his experience.
- 32:20Speaker 2: And I, I use, I use him as an example
- 32:23Speaker 2: of this is the definitive, uh, uh, concept of commitment.
- 32:28Speaker 2: There's no other level of commitment that's greater than Mike's,
- 32:32Speaker 2: you know, what he did for, for, yeah, there's not like,
- 32:35Speaker 2: that's the pinnacle.
- 32:36Speaker 1: And so I use that as an example. And then
- 32:37Speaker 1: I go into the speech and that got out and,
- 32:40Speaker 1: and somebody put on, this private chat or whatever, like, oh,
- 32:47Speaker 1: is Rutt saying that he was there? Is Rutt saying
- 32:50Speaker 1: he was in Iraq? Is Rutt saying this? He's pimping.
- 32:54Speaker 2: And then someone else was like, oh, well, Rutt will
- 32:57Speaker 2: pimp his trident to anybody that'll fucking pay him. And
- 33:01Speaker 2: And luckily I had like 10 guys kind of be like,
- 33:04Speaker 2: you guys are full of shit. He doesn't, he wants
- 33:07Speaker 2: everybody to succeed. He mostly helps kids. I don't know
- 33:10Speaker 2: what the fuck you're talking about. Like, and, and, but
- 33:13Speaker 2: that's the nature of it. And so, you know, I
- 33:16Speaker 2: think the problem is, is, you know, you see enough
- 33:20Speaker 2: of that and you, you know, I don't care how
- 33:23Speaker 2: tough you are.
- 33:25Speaker 1: It'll jade you. You'll make you. Yeah. I was hammered
- 33:28Speaker 1: for years with the, the men's course I was putting on,
- 33:31Speaker 1: you know, you're, you're a snake salesman. You're this.
- 33:33Speaker 2: And then I tell everybody, you know, listen, this is America, man.
- 33:36Speaker 2: If people want to pay, they pay like no one's forcing.
- 33:40Speaker 2: This isn't like, you know, you know, this isn't a draft.
- 33:44Speaker 2: These guys pay too much money. And I'm like half
- 33:46Speaker 2: the people. And one guy, I do, I'm doing a
- 33:49Speaker 2: motivational speech.
- 33:51Speaker 1: It's nothing.
- 33:51Speaker 2: I'm yelling at people. And he's some air force guy
- 33:54Speaker 2: from the, some, from some guy who's never served a
- 33:57Speaker 2: day in the military. And I'm like, I literally wrote,
- 34:00Speaker 2: did you even like Google who I am? Like, yeah,
- 34:04Speaker 2: I did. It said you're a Navy SEAL, but that
- 34:06Speaker 2: doesn't mean anything. I'm like, oh, you were air traffic
- 34:08Speaker 2: controller or something.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Air Force. Great. But I don't know why people are like,
- 34:13Speaker 1: everybody's just so pissed off. Like, listen, this is. That's
- 34:16Speaker 1: what it is. That's what it is. Like, listen.
- 34:20Speaker 2: I could only imagine how much money you've made over
- 34:22Speaker 2: the years. And instead of being jealous and, you know, listen,
- 34:25Speaker 2: I'm always like that motherfucker. I wish I had, I
- 34:27Speaker 2: would have loved to have the Boston gig.
- 34:28Speaker 1: I won't lie. Dude, that was a freak accident, by
- 34:33Speaker 1: the way, the whole thing, you know, but. but it's like, well,
- 34:36Speaker 1: but then the mindset shifts. You worked with UCLA though.
- 34:40Speaker 1: That's that's significant.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Mindset shift is, well, if he can do it, then
- 34:44Speaker 2: I can fucking do it. That's how I look at it.
- 34:46Speaker 1: If, if rut can do it, I can do it.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Now you are much more articulate.
- 34:50Speaker 2: You're a different, different level of speaker than me, Mary
- 34:53Speaker 2: articulated versus me, but I have my audience and you
- 34:57Speaker 2: have your audience and that's cool.
- 34:59Speaker 1: And that's, what's so great, you know? And I love that,
- 35:01Speaker 1: but I think.
- 35:04Speaker 2: The bashing is, is where we, I actually, like, I,
- 35:10Speaker 2: I don't, I was, I was up at Penn state
- 35:12Speaker 2: this weekend, um, for the whiteout game against SC and,
- 35:16Speaker 2: and there's a guy whose name's Kat McCombie. And he
- 35:20Speaker 2: used to be the CEO of team two, uh, in
- 35:24Speaker 2: Vietnam back in 72, the two, the year, uh, Tommy
- 35:27Speaker 2: Norris and, um, um, Mike, um, I.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Know you're talking about Mike Thornton. Yeah.
- 35:36Speaker 2: So he was there, he wrote them up for those awards.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Like he knows them all. And I brought up, I
- 35:42Speaker 2: brought up the whole thing that's going on with, um, with, um, uh,
- 35:48Speaker 2: Robert's Ridge right now with, you know, how Andy had
- 35:51Speaker 2: Mitch Hall on and then the Chapman controversy. And you
- 35:55Speaker 2: saw Jason and slab get, You know, senior chief Deming's
- 35:59Speaker 2: like called them out in some function or something. And,
- 36:03Speaker 2: and like, and I asked him, I go, you know, captain,
- 36:07Speaker 2: you know, what do you think about it all? And
- 36:08Speaker 2: he's like, he goes, it's disgusting. He goes back in
- 36:12Speaker 2: our day, if we had a problem with somebody, we
- 36:14Speaker 2: would go to them face to face and we would
- 36:17Speaker 2: solve it like men would. But now he's like, everybody
- 36:21Speaker 2: wants to be famous. Everybody wants to be the man.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Everybody wants to be the guy or whatever it is.
- 36:29Speaker 2: And we're, we're not only destroying our community, but we're
- 36:33Speaker 2: destroying other communities. Other communities are destroying themselves. And it's like,
- 36:38Speaker 2: Now it's turned into this where I think the overall
- 36:42Speaker 2: general public is kind of dismayed with– all they got
- 36:48Speaker 2: to do is text or grok search or chat GPT
- 36:52Speaker 2: is certainly– you know why do fucking rangers hate seals
- 36:56Speaker 2: and it'll list 25 podcasts where fucking we're going at
- 37:01Speaker 2: each other and i and i'm.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Just like okay all right i i is.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Have we just gotten to that place where we no
- 37:11Speaker 2: longer like and you talk about it all the time
- 37:14Speaker 2: you're like Hey man, it's on you.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Like your success is on you.
- 37:19Speaker 2: And if you start to blame other people for your
- 37:23Speaker 2: lack of success or your lack of focus or being
- 37:26Speaker 2: distracted or any of that, man, it's going to fuck
- 37:29Speaker 2: you up. And if you stay focused on yourself and
- 37:32Speaker 2: what you can do every day, you know, then you're good.
- 37:35Speaker 2: It's just, I never imagined we would have to develop
- 37:39Speaker 2: such a fucking such a psychological barrier, almost like a
- 37:43Speaker 2: barrier you had to create buds for the pain. Like
- 37:46Speaker 2: now you have to create a barrier for the haters
- 37:49Speaker 2: that are attacking you 24 seven. You know, but I
- 37:52Speaker 2: will tell you when I'm taking a deuce at some
- 37:54Speaker 2: of the best material I read, sometimes I'll even write it.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Oh, I wish I could snap a picture, but I do, man.
- 38:02Speaker 1: I'm just like, Hey, sitting here taking a giant deuce
- 38:04Speaker 1: thinking about you. Hope you're well. I just have fun
- 38:09Speaker 1: with it, man. Like, Well, that's cool. Because when I
- 38:13Speaker 1: started getting hit up on things, I did hit up
- 38:15Speaker 1: a bunch of people like, you know, Kennedy back in
- 38:17Speaker 1: the day before all the shit happened. Yeah.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Welcome.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Welcome to the club, man. I'm like, yeah, man.
- 38:22Speaker 2: I just didn't think that trying to do something good
- 38:27Speaker 2: would affect so many people in a negative way.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I don't think like that. I'm like, listen, I'm out
- 38:31Speaker 1: of here. And that's what I tell everybody.
- 38:33Speaker 2: You might not like me or what I do, but
- 38:35Speaker 2: the question I'll ask is then, what the fuck are
- 38:37Speaker 2: you doing?
- 38:37Speaker 1: Like, let's have a conversation. And then I go, oh,
- 38:40Speaker 1: fuck you. Seals suck and you're short. Okay, got it.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Got it.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Come at me with something real. You know, that's the
- 38:47Speaker 2: thing I get now. You're short and you've got gray hair.
- 38:49Speaker 1: And I'm like, okay, do you want me to get...
- 38:52Speaker 1: My dad's dead. Do you want to talk to my
- 38:54Speaker 1: mom about this? There's nothing I can do, man. I
- 38:57Speaker 1: was in a smurf crew. I don't go around saying
- 39:00Speaker 1: I'm a seven-foot tall. I mean... i mean.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Oh my god i think i've got my smurf over
- 39:09Speaker 2: there man i mean.
- 39:12Speaker 4: It's like anything like it's well let let's pivot let's
- 39:17Speaker 4: pivot yeah sorry let's let's talk about all right this
- 39:22Speaker 4: obviously when we started you said there's this new perception
- 39:27Speaker 4: that's emerging for.
- 39:28Speaker 2: You yeah and and has that new perception altered the
- 39:33Speaker 2: way you're teaching teaching? your stuff or, or has it
- 39:38Speaker 2: just altered the delivery of how you do it or
- 39:42Speaker 2: what has changed in the core aspect of what you're
- 39:46Speaker 2: trying to teach as a result of your new, um,
- 39:50Speaker 2: understanding of what would be the best, uh, the, what
- 39:56Speaker 2: is it? The, the, cause I think for me, what
- 39:59Speaker 2: it is, is recognizing that there's a very limited amount
- 40:03Speaker 2: of people that will actually follow through what we try,
- 40:06Speaker 2: what you try and teach them. But those that do
- 40:09Speaker 2: can find remarkable improvements in their life. And so I
- 40:13Speaker 2: had to lower my expectations of the impact I thought
- 40:18Speaker 2: I was having because I, I, I ended up, you know,
- 40:21Speaker 2: after the whole COVID where everything collapsed for me, like
- 40:25Speaker 2: I really had to like reset my, my expectations of success. Like,
- 40:30Speaker 2: you know, it's just different. Like it's going to be
- 40:33Speaker 2: different now. It's going to be different what I expect.
- 40:35Speaker 2: So how have you done that in, in, after this
- 40:39Speaker 2: awakening that say it happened for you?
- 40:42Speaker 1: Well, you know, I've, there's certain things that I, I
- 40:46Speaker 1: stay out of, right? Like if you look at my post,
- 40:48Speaker 1: you don't see a lot of politics.
- 40:49Speaker 2: I don't get into politics. I'm a Christian, but I
- 40:52Speaker 2: don't post a lot of that. I try to keep
- 40:54Speaker 2: myself neutral versus being so smart.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Right.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Cause listen, here's the thing. I don't give a shit
- 41:01Speaker 2: who you vote for, who I vote for. Don't, you know,
- 41:04Speaker 2: I don't care if you're straight or you're gay, just
- 41:06Speaker 2: don't pour it down my throat.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Right.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Like I have friends that are gay. I have friends
- 41:09Speaker 2: that are lesbians. I have people that are dumb, whatever.
- 41:12Speaker 2: And there's something like, and I have gay people that
- 41:13Speaker 2: are like, when they watch the stupid, they go, this,
- 41:15Speaker 2: that is not, that is not the gay community.
- 41:17Speaker 1: That's yeah.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Right. Um, tonality. I've changed the tonality. You know, I've
- 41:22Speaker 1: gotten more sincere. Yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 2: I think with age, like, you know, I used to think, listen,
- 41:27Speaker 2: when you're young, you're dumb, you know, yelling got a response,
- 41:31Speaker 2: but it, it didn't get results. It got me instantaneous results.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Cause you know, run in place, people like running in place.
- 41:39Speaker 2: But then when I changed the tonality and I made
- 41:41Speaker 2: things more, you know, passion and result driven and gave
- 41:45Speaker 2: people tools and gave them lessons and gave them drills
- 41:48Speaker 2: takeaways and said, listen, like I say this in every speech, right?
- 41:51Speaker 2: I'm going to get up here and give you, whether it's,
- 41:53Speaker 2: you know, I always break down my speech in the seconds,
- 41:56Speaker 2: 2,400 seconds, you know, like whatever, 30, whatever.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Brilliant.
- 42:00Speaker 2: I explain how time and heartbeat are two most precious
- 42:04Speaker 2: commodities we have. Thank you for giving me that many
- 42:07Speaker 2: heartbeats in this many seconds. But then after that, I
- 42:10Speaker 2: tell them, listen, I'm going to go up here and
- 42:12Speaker 2: I'm going to talk about a lot of things and
- 42:13Speaker 2: I'm going to talk fast. If you take one thing
- 42:16Speaker 2: with you, one, one thing, then I've won. If I, if, if,
- 42:22Speaker 2: I mean, I'm getting ready to speak to a smaller crowd,
- 42:23Speaker 2: 150 people. If one person out of 150 takes one
- 42:27Speaker 2: of the things that I taught them and they apply
- 42:30Speaker 2: it or they put it in that physical, mental and
- 42:32Speaker 2: emotional toolbox that they carry with them, then I fucking
- 42:35Speaker 2: won versus I used to be like. You know, I
- 42:39Speaker 2: tell them get in shape and then I come back
- 42:41Speaker 2: six months later and they're still.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Fat and I'd be like, you know, no, but now
- 42:43Speaker 1: it's hey. Okay, I'll approach them the same way, but hey,
- 42:50Speaker 1: in the last six months, have you been getting up
- 42:52Speaker 1: and have you been doing your pushups? Yes. Have you
- 42:54Speaker 1: been making your bed? Yes. My wife, she loves Bill,
- 42:56Speaker 1: but she hates Adam McCraven because I make the bed
- 42:58Speaker 1: with her in it. But hey, are you staying consistent
- 43:03Speaker 1: on your meal plan? We don't use the word diet. Hey,
- 43:05Speaker 1: are you having your reward day? We don't cheat, right?
- 43:09Speaker 1: And I just.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Reframe and restructure things to the point where they're lessons learned.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Because some of the best BUDS instructors- There's a couple
- 43:17Speaker 2: of different ways you can look at it. There's some
- 43:19Speaker 2: in Bud's instructors that would scream and yell.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Yeah. There were others that said nothing.
- 43:23Speaker 2: And there were some that would break you down and
- 43:25Speaker 2: then pull you aside and say, let me tell you
- 43:26Speaker 2: why I just did that.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Yeah. That's what resonated with me. So now when I'm
- 43:31Speaker 1: doing my PTs and stuff, you know, I talk about
- 43:33Speaker 1: the importance of team, trust, effort, attitude, mission. I don't
- 43:36Speaker 1: just go around screaming, be a team, be a team.
- 43:39Speaker 1: You have to explain at our level because we run
- 43:43Speaker 1: at a very high level of frequency that what team
- 43:46Speaker 1: means because when we like team to us means something
- 43:50Speaker 1: much different to a normal average person, but when you
- 43:54Speaker 1: can relay it to them in a manner that they
- 43:57Speaker 1: can receive it, right? Transmit, receive, and then they can
- 44:00Speaker 1: apply it. I tell them, my goal is to make
- 44:04Speaker 1: you leave here. I want you thinking like you're an ABCL.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Will you get the same results as us? No, because
- 44:09Speaker 1: we've been doing it a lot longer. But I want
- 44:11Speaker 1: you thinking unconventional, out of the box, three-dimensional. And people
- 44:15Speaker 1: will take that with them. And I get these great results. Ray,
- 44:19Speaker 1: I've lost 10 pounds. I'm stuck. You're not stuck. You
- 44:22Speaker 1: just got to regroup. You got to reframe it. You
- 44:24Speaker 1: got to work harder. Boom, boom, boom. And it's making
- 44:28Speaker 1: an impact. And that's what I want to be known as.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Like Tim Grover told me. Tim Grover is one of
- 44:33Speaker 2: my mentors. I'm going out to his next event. That's awesome.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Yelling at everybody, right?
- 44:40Speaker 1: He goes, number one, you talk so fast. No one
- 44:45Speaker 1: can understand what the hell you're saying. All I hear
- 44:47Speaker 1: is that slow down and tell people, he just said,
- 44:51Speaker 1: slow down and enjoy the ride. Oh, it's more like, listen, Dave,
- 44:57Speaker 1: instead of screaming at you, I believe in you. I
- 44:59Speaker 1: need you to move your ass. I need you to
- 45:00Speaker 1: get up. I need you to, I need you to
- 45:02Speaker 1: find it right now. your why, whatever it is. And
- 45:06Speaker 1: I need you to get your big ass up and
- 45:07Speaker 1: get your fat ass moving. And I talk to people
- 45:09Speaker 1: like that. And it's fun. Jason Redman, you know, Jason's
- 45:14Speaker 1: one of my best friends. He told me, you're the
- 45:15Speaker 1: only guy that can go to church and cuss out
- 45:16Speaker 1: a priest and a priest will love you. A hundred percent.
- 45:20Speaker 1: That is a hundred percent. I was at church and
- 45:24Speaker 1: my pastor said, Hey, what'd you think of this? Well,
- 45:26Speaker 1: he always, we leave. Yeah. Yeah. What did you think
- 45:29Speaker 1: about today's service? I said, sir, God kicks ass. And
- 45:33Speaker 1: he went, And he's like, you know what, Ray, you
- 45:38Speaker 1: really mean that. Don't you? I mean, yeah, he just
- 45:40Speaker 1: kicks ass. I mean, I just, I got his power
- 45:43Speaker 1: in me today. He was like, awesome. And he even said,
- 45:47Speaker 1: I would not allow anybody else. Cause he knows it's.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Coming from the heart. And I think a hundred percent,
- 45:52Speaker 2: I'm all heart now, man. Like I've always been, but
- 45:55Speaker 2: you know, it's, I just, I get emotional, man.
- 45:58Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm vulnerable.
- 45:59Speaker 2: That's the, one of the things I've learned with age is,
- 46:02Speaker 2: You've always been like, I mean, I don't know if
- 46:04Speaker 2: people know how fucking tough you are.
- 46:06Speaker 1: And how, you know, cause you are, you are, you
- 46:09Speaker 1: play the, and I know, right. But vulnerability I've learned
- 46:15Speaker 1: since we've last spoken is a true sign and testament
- 46:18Speaker 1: of strength. So the more vulnerable I am, like, you know,
- 46:21Speaker 1: people are like, you're an ABC when you cry, you're
- 46:22Speaker 1: fucking right. I cry.
- 46:23Speaker 2: I was watching a show and I was crying like
- 46:24Speaker 2: a baby church and I've been moved and I've cried
- 46:29Speaker 2: and I'm like, like, I don't know why the hell
- 46:31Speaker 2: I'm crying.
- 46:32Speaker 1: You know, but when I feel it, you know, that
- 46:36Speaker 1: the difference from the young rate of this one is if,
- 46:38Speaker 1: if I feel something and it overwhelms me and it
- 46:40Speaker 1: makes me want to scream or I do it, I
- 46:43Speaker 1: don't hold back anymore.
- 46:44Speaker 2: And I'm just, you trust. Cause for me, I think Ray,
- 46:48Speaker 2: that is, this is like one of the biggest points.
- 46:50Speaker 2: It's like you, when you suppress the, your own intimacy
- 46:54Speaker 2: with yourself for so long, you know, trying to portray, uh, not,
- 46:58Speaker 2: it's not portrayed. You're not, it's not like it's, it's fake.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Cause you're really, you really want to be the best, right?
- 47:05Speaker 2: You really genuinely want to be like as dedicated a
- 47:09Speaker 2: person to, you know, whether it's the teams or contract
- 47:13Speaker 2: and whatever you've focused on that, you know, you, you
- 47:16Speaker 2: generate this, this distance from intimacy. And now I think as,
- 47:21Speaker 2: as in particular for me, you know, especially since like
- 47:24Speaker 2: COVID was this big turning point for me, like, Now
- 47:27Speaker 2: I'm like, Oh dude, like there's, there's a piece over here,
- 47:32Speaker 2: literally that's affiliated with the concept of feeling peaceful, that
- 47:38Speaker 2: it will help create the balance in me that I, I,
- 47:43Speaker 2: I think has been absent for as long as it
- 47:46Speaker 2: has been. And that's going to make me more grateful
- 47:49Speaker 2: for the opportunities I do have. And for, like you said,
- 47:53Speaker 2: that one person in the audience, uh, or a response
- 47:57Speaker 2: from one of my kids going, Hey dad, when you.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Said this, this is what you meant, right? I'm like, Oh, like,
- 48:03Speaker 1: Holy shit. That's awesome. Um, has, has any of, of,
- 48:08Speaker 1: cause I know.
- 48:09Speaker 2: You're really intimately involved in the Navy SEAL swim and
- 48:13Speaker 2: New York and other charities. Has that played a role
- 48:17Speaker 2: in not the softening, but like the recognition that no man, I'm,
- 48:23Speaker 2: I'm going to cultivate an emotional intelligence that's on par
- 48:27Speaker 2: with my dedication and my commitment to becoming better.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:33Speaker 2: I mean, listen, I think the older I get, the
- 48:35Speaker 2: more I'm trying to live up to not, not just
- 48:40Speaker 2: what I was, but what I am now.
- 48:41Speaker 1: And I am a man of commitment and of honor
- 48:44Speaker 1: and of the Lord. And, you know, and I think,
- 48:47Speaker 1: you know, I learned a lot.
- 48:49Speaker 2: I've learned a lot of shit since, you know, being
- 48:51Speaker 2: the young, you know, Ray, Ray Care Bear to the
- 48:54Speaker 2: Ray Cash Care.
- 48:55Speaker 1: And it's, you know, the more you make, right.
- 48:58Speaker 2: And that doesn't mean from a monetary standpoint, but the
- 49:00Speaker 2: more you consume, it's not the more you take, it's
- 49:04Speaker 2: the more you give. So, and then like I told
- 49:06Speaker 2: you before, I think one of the most precious commodities, the,
- 49:11Speaker 2: the purest form of something that I can give you
- 49:14Speaker 2: is my time, my undivided time, my, you know, um, so, um,
- 49:20Speaker 2: You know, when I'm doing that swimming, I'm going to
- 49:21Speaker 2: make this very clear.
- 49:22Speaker 1: I don't fucking like swimming. I don't. I've swam a lifetime.
- 49:26Speaker 1: I'm not a swimmer like you. I don't. I mean,
- 49:28Speaker 1: I've seen you swim.
- 49:30Speaker 2: I get in the water and people sometimes were like, hey,
- 49:34Speaker 2: I need to see your DD214 because they don't believe you.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Well, your fucking shoulders are five and a half feet wide.
- 49:41Speaker 1: But you know what? I honestly feel that. I have
- 49:46Speaker 1: to do that because it's a true, it's a true
- 49:49Speaker 1: test of my sacrifice. And I don't do it like people,
- 49:53Speaker 1: some people do it.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Oh, it keeps me in shape. I, every, every kick, glide, stroke, every,
- 49:58Speaker 2: you know, when I start off, I'm doing this to
- 50:00Speaker 2: people because I'm so slow.
- 50:02Speaker 1: It's, it's for the brave men and women who have,
- 50:04Speaker 1: who are, and who will serve this great nation. So
- 50:08Speaker 1: it's a small, it's a, it's such a small part.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:11Speaker 1: It hurts. Yeah. You cramp up. I usually swim it
- 50:13Speaker 1: with Will Branham, old senior chief Branham. But, um, I do.
- 50:20Speaker 2: That with everything now, you know, we give back to
- 50:22Speaker 2: the church and I will tell you this right now, man,
- 50:24Speaker 2: when I was younger, it felt great taking, conquering, killing, destroying,
- 50:28Speaker 2: whatever it was.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Yeah. It feels really fucking good. Give it back. Yeah.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Like I told you, man, the sun setting, the winds
- 50:37Speaker 1: are changing things, you know, are happening. And you know what,
- 50:42Speaker 1: instead of fighting it, I just go with it, you know?
- 50:44Speaker 1: And if that, you know, if that's going to make
- 50:46Speaker 1: me sound like a pussy, I don't care. Cause I
- 50:48Speaker 1: can still, I can still smoke most people that want
- 50:51Speaker 1: to go.
- 50:53Speaker 2: And the people that I can't people like, you know,
- 50:56Speaker 2: like you and other guys that I know are like,
- 50:57Speaker 2: you know, huge into the world of what I do,
- 51:00Speaker 2: they get it.
- 51:01Speaker 1: So it's like, I don't have to worry. I don't
- 51:09Speaker 1: even off camera, you'd be like, Ray, I get it, man. Fucking.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Cause I am not the same man. I was, I'm
- 51:14Speaker 1: a better man than I was. That's right.
- 51:16Speaker 2: Because I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm more whole, you know, before
- 51:20Speaker 2: I was just looking for a fight, you know, now
- 51:23Speaker 2: I'm just, I'm, I'm, I'm looking for peace.
- 51:25Speaker 1: And I'll tell you this right now. It's easier to
- 51:28Speaker 1: find war than it is peace, brother. So that leads
- 51:32Speaker 1: me to my final question.
- 51:33Speaker 2: And this is something that I have been like, for
- 51:37Speaker 2: the last four months has been this absolute thing. I
- 51:42Speaker 2: cannot get out of my head. Cause like you were
- 51:44Speaker 2: just saying, I realized, Oh, I, I don't know what
- 51:48Speaker 2: that is. Like if you want, if like you, I
- 51:51Speaker 2: can do fucking 50 podcasts in my sleep. I can
- 51:55Speaker 2: fucking speak all day long. I can train somebody to shoot.
- 51:59Speaker 2: I can train somebody to, uh, perform better to endure
- 52:02Speaker 2: more pain.
- 52:03Speaker 1: I got that shit down.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Right. But if you were to ask, Hey, rut, how
- 52:07Speaker 2: do I fucking find, have more peace in my life?
- 52:10Speaker 2: I'm like fucking like blank. I have no idea what
- 52:14Speaker 2: that is or what it means. And so I've really
- 52:17Speaker 2: over these last months, I'm like a hundred percent committed
- 52:20Speaker 2: to not only for myself, cause I want some more
- 52:24Speaker 2: peace in my life. I want that feeling, but more
- 52:28Speaker 2: importantly for my wife and for my kids.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 52:31Speaker 2: And so that it's not always like up here, you know, grinding,
- 52:36Speaker 2: like they can feel this other piece of me. you know,
- 52:39Speaker 2: that fucking artist, that poet that's in me somewhere, you know,
- 52:43Speaker 2: that comes out on occasion. But, and so I now
- 52:47Speaker 2: like every time I, I have an operator on, I
- 52:51Speaker 2: ask him this question to end with, and I want
- 52:53Speaker 2: to present it to you. Cause like everything you've been
- 52:56Speaker 2: talking about fits in line with what I'm trying to
- 52:59Speaker 2: figure out myself is how do you find peace in
- 53:04Speaker 2: the everyday pain of your life?
- 53:09Speaker 1: Fuck, man. You know, I know you're I knew you're
- 53:12Speaker 1: going to ask this question and because I listen, but fuck.
- 53:24Speaker 2: But I do a couple of things. Number one, I
- 53:29Speaker 2: use the like I'm a pain coach. If we're going
- 53:31Speaker 2: to sit here and be real with each other, I'm
- 53:33Speaker 2: not a motivational coach.
- 53:35Speaker 1: I'm a pain coach.
- 53:36Speaker 2: And what I've learned how to do is and I
- 53:38Speaker 2: know this is probably super unhealthy. And when I went
- 53:40Speaker 2: to go do the the Mexico trip, I was a mess.
- 53:45Speaker 2: But I've learned how to compartmentalize different pains, physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual,
- 53:50Speaker 2: financial and sexual pain that I've dealt with in my life.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Right. They're in these. It's kind of like the old
- 53:57Speaker 1: satcom when you got to go through the windows, right?
- 53:59Speaker 1: You know what that means. This is pre-138, right?
- 54:03Speaker 2: 152. This is before all that.
- 54:08Speaker 1: The tank on your back. That's right. The prick 77,
- 54:12Speaker 1: if you will, right? Boy, we're talking some old school here.
- 54:15Speaker 1: I've just learned that I reflect on that. And I've
- 54:22Speaker 1: overcome that.
- 54:23Speaker 2: And I honestly think for me, what, how I do is,
- 54:26Speaker 2: and I'm different than most is I reflect on daily pain.
- 54:30Speaker 2: And then what I do is I put it through
- 54:33Speaker 2: the strainer that says the reason why I endured so
- 54:37Speaker 2: much pain, why I have, you know, been through what I,
- 54:42Speaker 2: you know, there's a lot of, a lot of things
- 54:43Speaker 2: I've dealt with and I hope a lot of people
- 54:45Speaker 2: never have to deal with.
- 54:46Speaker 1: And I think it, it, it was a test.
- 54:49Speaker 2: It was a test to see, if I was strong
- 54:53Speaker 2: enough to handle the battles that we deal with so
- 54:58Speaker 2: that when the waters did come and they do eventually
- 55:01Speaker 2: come that you're happy just sailing with who you want
- 55:05Speaker 2: to sail with.
- 55:06Speaker 1: And for me, you know, you know, I've, I've talked
- 55:07Speaker 1: about my wife since day one, man. I'm like you, man.
- 55:10Speaker 1: I married a woman I got no fucking business being with. 100%.
- 55:12Speaker 1: I've seen yours too.
- 55:14Speaker 2: Listen, you're decent looking and so am I, but our
- 55:17Speaker 2: wives are a lot hotter.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Dude. And I got great kids and, you know- You do.
- 55:23Speaker 1: By the way, you do have great kids, man. From
- 55:25Speaker 1: what I- I beat the shit out of my son.
- 55:27Speaker 1: My daughter owns me, but yeah, I love them. And
- 55:32Speaker 1: I think it tested me and I think I- you know,
- 55:38Speaker 1: and life is like buds. You don't pass it. You
- 55:43Speaker 1: survive it. You know, man, like everybody's like, Oh, you
- 55:46Speaker 1: never thought about quitting bullshit. I thought about quitting all
- 55:48Speaker 1: the time. I just didn't do it. I didn't do it.
- 55:51Speaker 1: That's right. And I, you know, how did you rank
- 55:53Speaker 1: in buds? I passed, I passed, I survived. I survived.
- 55:57Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't care. I'm a doctor. So
- 56:01Speaker 1: For me, it's reflection.
- 56:03Speaker 2: I have, you know, if I had to sum it
- 56:05Speaker 2: up in one word, it would be reflection. I, the bad,
- 56:10Speaker 2: everything that I've endured, everything that I've consumed, everything that
- 56:13Speaker 2: I have, you know, I've carried, we carry a lot
- 56:16Speaker 2: of shit physically, mentally, emotionally has brought me to where
- 56:21Speaker 2: I am now.
- 56:22Speaker 1: And now I am older, a little wiser. Um, and
- 56:28Speaker 1: I'm just, I'm content. I'm happy with who I am. Now,
- 56:31Speaker 1: do I still seek greatness? You bet your fucking ass
- 56:33Speaker 1: I do. I still want it all. But I've learned
- 56:37Speaker 1: to dominate the needs before I go for the once,
- 56:41Speaker 1: you know, before. Wow, that's fascinating. Explain that.
- 56:44Speaker 2: Well, I mean, just look at impulsive purchase. Like I
- 56:47Speaker 2: am a typical team guy. You know, I've divorced family, wrestler,
- 56:52Speaker 2: daddy issues. Right.
- 56:53Speaker 1: I was abused all this. I could get into it.
- 56:56Speaker 1: And I used to do stupid shit.
- 56:58Speaker 3: Right.
- 56:58Speaker 1: I used to cheat. I used to be addicted to
- 57:01Speaker 1: pretty much everything there is.
- 57:02Speaker 2: That's why my pastor makes me do a thousand pushups
- 57:05Speaker 2: a day because every time I want to pop it,
- 57:07Speaker 2: screw it, drink it, smoke it, whatever it is.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Do this till you don't want to do them anymore. Yeah, yeah.
- 57:13Speaker 2: And then I also used to be the guy that
- 57:15Speaker 2: had five cars sitting outside and I only drove one.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Of them because I wanted them. I didn't need them.
- 57:22Speaker 1: I don't need all that shit. As humans, I don't
- 57:25Speaker 1: need this big house I'm in. I'm in this big
- 57:27Speaker 1: house because I wanted it. As we get older, we
- 57:31Speaker 1: realize the need is the necessity. I don't need a
- 57:36Speaker 1: big house. I just need a house full of fucking love, brother.
- 57:39Speaker 1: I don't need three cars. I just need a car
- 57:41Speaker 1: that's going to run when I get it. Like I
- 57:43Speaker 1: tell everybody, the car, you know, I like my watches.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Everybody has their vices. But the watch doesn't make the man.
- 57:50Speaker 1: The car doesn't make the man. The man makes the man.
- 57:53Speaker 1: And that's what people need to realize. And I stopped
- 57:57Speaker 1: trying to be something and somebody that I wasn't.
- 58:01Speaker 2: I'm never going to be a Dave Rutherford. I'm never
- 58:03Speaker 2: going to be a Taco Wilbeck. I'm never going to
- 58:05Speaker 2: be David Goggins. I can talk about myself in a
- 58:07Speaker 2: third person.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Break cash care. But no. And I love Dave. I
- 58:10Speaker 1: love all you guys.
- 58:12Speaker 5: But the need is I need to be me and
- 58:16Speaker 5: stop wanting to be you. and when people do that,
- 58:21Speaker 5: that's when I think they're finally just at ease and
- 58:25Speaker 5: at calm and at peace with themselves.
- 58:27Speaker 1: And I'll tell you this right now, man, I don't know.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Neither one of us know how much longer we have,
- 58:32Speaker 2: but I will tell you this right now.
- 58:33Speaker 1: And this is, this is a true story. If I
- 58:35Speaker 1: died right now on this podcast right now, I'm happy.
- 58:40Speaker 1: I'm fucking content with who I am, what I've done. Now,
- 58:45Speaker 1: And the one thing I've done now is, like I say,
- 58:48Speaker 1: every minute is a mission. So my mission right now,
- 58:51Speaker 1: I've got a lot of making up to do to people,
- 58:52Speaker 1: and I'm sure you do too in some aspects. We
- 58:54Speaker 1: all have demons. Every day is just another opportunity for
- 59:00Speaker 1: me to be better, not make more money, not go
- 59:04Speaker 1: out and buy expensive shit, but to be a better father,
- 59:07Speaker 1: a better friend, a better you know when i say
- 59:10Speaker 1: lover more intimate like the things that matter right um
- 59:15Speaker 1: and that's what i'm gonna do man and you know
- 59:17Speaker 1: i've i've kind of taken a step back i mean
- 59:19Speaker 1: you see me all over social media and stuff but
- 59:20Speaker 1: i'm not yelling anymore i'm happy i don't know maybe
- 59:24Speaker 1: i was yelling because i had issues i don't know
- 59:26Speaker 1: but i get the same thing done And it's perceived
- 59:31Speaker 1: at a higher frequency just when I'm me, you know,
- 59:35Speaker 1: like having a conversation like this. And I'll tell you
- 59:38Speaker 1: this right now. I got to watch your time. I'm
- 59:40Speaker 1: not going to fucking stop and I'm not going to change,
- 59:43Speaker 1: but I'm content. And like I said, not many people
- 59:46Speaker 1: can say that.
- 59:47Speaker 2: I mean, there's still a lot of wrongs that I'm
- 59:49Speaker 2: trying to write.
- 59:50Speaker 1: But if I died right now, I'd die a happy man. Amen, Ray. Amen.
- 59:58Speaker 1: thank you for that answer. And, and just, I thank
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: you for.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: Being you out of all the guys I've known that
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: have not only from the teams, but in this game too, man,
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: you're one of the most genuine dudes I've ever met
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: in my life. You never act like anything other than yourself.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: I know the feeling of, you know, challenging yourself against
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: other people's success for sure.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: And all that, but man, you are really a unique,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: amazing human being.
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: I'm really stoked that we're friends and I just wish
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: you all the best with all the other guys. And
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: I just, you know, I'm just, I'm grateful that you're
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: willing to come on and share what you share with everybody.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: I just really respect it a lot, Ray. Much love, brother.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Thank you for having me. It's an honor. Seriously. Awesome.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Where can people sign up if they want to try
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: and go to the apex or you're also doing, you're
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: also doing the agogi with Nick in North Carolina too.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: Or South Carolina. Dude, I love Nick. Nick's one of
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: my favorite people. I love that you guys are all
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: the time.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: I hate that. He's a fucking freak. He's a maniac, dude.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: He just what fucking was, I got second place and second.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Dude. I'm like, I'm like, what are you talking about, dude?
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: He's like, I love him so much. I'm so happy
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: you guys, you guys. So where can people follow and sign.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Up and everything?
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: It's pretty simple. Um, you can always listen if it's
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: on Instagram, DM me Ray cash care. If it's a
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: professional DM, I answer them off. It's something stupid. You're
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: probably going to get.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: A dick pic back. I'm joking. I'm going to be mean. Um,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I'm joking.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: Uh, or you can just go to Ray cash care.com
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: if you're interested in any of the events, but even
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: if it's apex protocol, hit me up, I'll give you
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: all the information and then pass you over to the team.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: November 20th through the 23rd, Las Vegas, Sin City. We're
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: going to have a great time. Awesome. Ray, I love you, buddy.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Love you too, man.
