Lightning Kills Hiker on Active Volcano | Wichita News
A Kansas hiker, 29, was killed by lightning on Mount Etna — Europe’s most active volcano — despite the area being closed to the public due to recent eruptions. Strikingly, more people have died from lightning on Etna than from its eruptions in recorded history. The last volcanic fatality was in 1987. Though medics arrived via helicopter, he was pronounced dead. His identity remains private — a chilling reminder that nature’s deadliest threats can come from the sky, not just the earth.
