- 0:08Speaker 1: Now back to the Mark Simone Show on wr Hey,
- 0:14Speaker 1: we'll take some calls. Eight hundred three to two one
- 0:17Speaker 1: zero seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two
- 0:20Speaker 1: one zero seven to ten. Let's go to Joe in
- 0:25Speaker 1: New Jersey. Joe, how you doing? Wait a minute, let
- 0:29Speaker 1: me push it again. Joe, how you doing?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark, How are you good?
- 0:33Speaker 3: Mark?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Talking about the agreement? Everything, everything? Two weeks, two weeks.
- 0:39Speaker 2: They're running out of storage facilities. When is the straight
- 0:42Speaker 2: Scoop going to come out?
- 0:44Speaker 1: It's already out.
- 0:47Speaker 2: How do you say, already out?
- 0:48Speaker 1: It's already been out there. There are other storage facilities.
- 0:51Speaker 1: They got about maybe another week and a half where
- 0:53Speaker 1: they're totally out of revenue. And the problem is when
- 0:56Speaker 1: you're out of storage facilities, straight up hormose clothes. They
- 1:00Speaker 1: can't export their oil when you're out of storage facilities.
- 1:04Speaker 1: What they've been doing, they're actually out. They actually ran
- 1:07Speaker 1: out about about three now, about four weeks ago. They
- 1:11Speaker 1: ran out of storage space, so they were using tankers.
- 1:14Speaker 1: They would take all these tankers and load them up
- 1:16Speaker 1: with oil, So instead of the storage space the tanks,
- 1:20Speaker 1: they were putting them on these tankers, and it looks
- 1:23Speaker 1: like they just about run out of tankers now, so
- 1:25Speaker 1: they don't have any more tankers to store them on.
- 1:28Speaker 1: So they really needed to open because once you are
- 1:30Speaker 1: totally out of storage space, you got to shut down
- 1:33Speaker 1: the wells, and once you shut them down, they dry
- 1:35Speaker 1: up and it can take a year to get them
- 1:37Speaker 1: going again. Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike, how
- 1:40Speaker 1: you doing?
- 1:42Speaker 2: Good morning?
- 1:42Speaker 3: Mark, Yes, Mike, I had a Sinatra question for you too.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Actually one how many times was the on Casson? Were
- 1:49Speaker 3: they friends? And I was recently on YouTube scrolling through
- 1:55Speaker 3: stuff and I came across a couple of videos with
- 1:57Speaker 3: him with the singer Dagmar What was this already behind that?
- 2:02Speaker 1: We'll start with Carson, Yeah, he started with Carson. He
- 2:05Speaker 1: was on in nineteen sixty four, Joey Bishop was the
- 2:08Speaker 1: guest host, came on with Sammy Davis. He was then
- 2:12Speaker 1: on again late sixty five, came on with Dean Martin.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Then next time was the famous remember he was a
- 2:23Speaker 1: guest and Don Rickles came on, surprised him. Go watch
- 2:27Speaker 1: it on YouTube, Sinatra Rickles. That was the other time.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And then one time he filled in as a guest host.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Oh really that one, I didn't know.
- 2:34Speaker 1: It's up on YouTube. He filled in as a guest host,
- 2:37Speaker 1: and Rickles was a guest named Carol O'Connor and Angie Dickens.
- 2:41Speaker 1: And he wasn't. It's a great show because the Rickles
- 2:43Speaker 1: and everything, but he wasn't the best host. He's not
- 2:46Speaker 1: a talk show. Dagmar was. It was an interesting period.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Sinatra superstar in the forties, singing the great standards, the
- 2:54Speaker 1: great Gershwin, Coldportis and then this remember Mitch.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Miller, Yes, yeah, he was like Columbia Records, Capitol Records.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Well Columbia. He becomes the president of Columbia. Some people
- 3:05Speaker 1: blame him, some people it wasn't his fault. That was
- 3:07Speaker 1: happening anyway. All of a sudden, the trend was, no
- 3:09Speaker 1: more of these serious things, novelty records. How much is
- 3:12Speaker 1: that doggie in the window? That kind of nonsense. So
- 3:15Speaker 1: they Mitch Miller was the head of Columbia. That was
- 3:18Speaker 1: Sinatra's recording. He made Sinatra record that stuff. And the
- 3:22Speaker 1: worst one was with Dagmar, who was a TV star.
- 3:25Speaker 1: At that time, it was called Mama Will Bark. Where
- 3:29Speaker 1: they bark, They bark like a dog on there, and
- 3:34Speaker 1: it ruined Sinatra's career. Now, a lot of people blame
- 3:37Speaker 1: Mitch Miller for Rock and Roll, believe it or not.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Back then, they said, if it hadn't been for the
- 3:42Speaker 1: recording industry going silly with the stupid novelty songs, rock
- 3:45Speaker 1: and roll wouldn't have been able to rise up and
- 3:47Speaker 1: take over, which it did.
- 3:49Speaker 2: That's interesting theory.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I don't know if that's true, but.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a theory. Now, one day I was with
- 3:55Speaker 1: Sinatra the lobby of the Walldorf. You know how that
- 3:58Speaker 1: lobby is like a mile long, like from Park all
- 4:01Speaker 1: the elections about five miles away. In that lobby, I
- 4:05Speaker 1: see an old guy walking. I realized it's Mitch Miller
- 4:09Speaker 1: and I said, this, that's Mitch Miller. He goes what
- 4:12Speaker 1: And as he got closer, Mitch Miller sees Frank Sinatra.
- 4:14Speaker 1: This is forty years later. He was Frank, how are you?
- 4:17Speaker 1: And Sinatra goes keep walking. Pal not one to hold
- 4:23Speaker 1: the grudge, you know, you got to give him credit.
- 4:25Speaker 1: That's a great guy, a man of principal holds the grudge.
- 4:28Speaker 1: As somebody said when he when he had the Alzheimer's,
- 4:31Speaker 1: he said, it's sicilian Alzheimer's. He only remembers the grudges. So,
- 4:36Speaker 1: all right, thanks for calling Mike. Let's go to Vincent
- 4:39Speaker 1: and Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark, Good morning Mara. And also Mitch Miller
- 4:44Speaker 2: made all those records, he had that TV show. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 2: along with Mitch.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's he became.
- 4:50Speaker 2: He had all those Mitch Miller records, which my father Brackley,
- 4:54Speaker 2: who he had every one of them. Mark, it's really
- 4:57Speaker 2: great that you're doing the Lincoln Tech commercials. And last
- 5:01Speaker 2: night I got to think, and that's great that there's
- 5:04Speaker 2: a company picking up the slack of trades that they
- 5:08Speaker 2: used to teach in New York City vocational schools that
- 5:13Speaker 2: now all they teach this walk nonsense. These kids run
- 5:17Speaker 2: up a quarter of a million dollar college bill and
- 5:21Speaker 2: they can't even come out and get a good job.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yeah, no, Vincent, that's why we love Lincoln Tech. These
- 5:27Speaker 1: kind of schools, and they're the best of them. But
- 5:29Speaker 1: these kind of schools so important. You know, even professors
- 5:33Speaker 1: tell me forty percent of the kids in college shouldn't
- 5:35Speaker 1: be in college. They should be in a tech school
- 5:37Speaker 1: learn the real trade. You go to a fancy college,
- 5:40Speaker 1: you end up with a degree in gender studies, and
- 5:42Speaker 1: you live in your parents' house for the next ten years.
- 5:45Speaker 1: You come out of Lincoln Tech, you got a skill.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You're a plumber, electrician, hvac whatever. You go right to
- 5:49Speaker 1: work and you're making a lot of money.
- 5:51Speaker 2: And it's really sad that they once used to teach
- 5:55Speaker 2: this stuff in the trade schools. I mean, probably these
- 5:59Speaker 2: kids they would even know how to use a hammer
- 6:01Speaker 2: on the screwdriver. They probably break their fingers. And another
- 6:05Speaker 2: thing I want to say, who is the woman on
- 6:08Speaker 2: woah who does the commercial for the Fishtails restaurants and
- 6:14Speaker 2: she does all the rob Astarino commercials. What a great voice.
- 6:19Speaker 1: You don't know who that is?
- 6:21Speaker 2: No, who is it?
- 6:22Speaker 1: Well the great radio stars. That's Maria Melito of Q
- 6:26Speaker 1: one oh four.
- 6:27Speaker 2: What a great what a great voice. I mean, along
- 6:32Speaker 2: with your great photo radio voice, what a great soothing,
- 6:38Speaker 2: calming voice. I just have to compliment on that, along
- 6:45Speaker 2: with the great Lincoln Tech commercial.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Maria Alito's a big radio star. So Q one O
- 6:49Speaker 1: four s one right after Jim Kurve's got an incredible voice.
- 6:52Speaker 1: She's been on for years. Maria Malis, I.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Just had to compliment her because I also listen. When
- 6:59Speaker 2: I listened to Rob Bastareno Show and some of the
- 7:01Speaker 2: other shows, I noticed it says, Hey, that's the same voice,
- 7:05Speaker 2: and she does during yours. Later in the day, she
- 7:09Speaker 2: does the commercials for that restaurant. Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Well, we don't full around. I mean, we got some
- 7:14Speaker 1: top voice over guys, but we also use some of
- 7:16Speaker 1: the best radio void we use.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Jim My compliments.
- 7:19Speaker 1: All right, Vincent, great call, thanks for calling. We got
- 7:22Speaker 1: to take a break for the news. We'll talk to
- 7:24Speaker 1: the brilliant economist, smartest guy around, John Carney. He'll be
- 7:28Speaker 1: with us next on seven to ten wor
