- 0:27Hey, good morning from the chicken coop, everybody.
- 0:30So we're talking about stretching today, and I don't
- 0:33mean physical stretches because boy, Lord knows I don't enjoy
- 0:37physically stretching. It's a pain in the butt.
- 0:39But I'm talking about the stretches of our goals and what
- 0:42we're doing and if we've got something we want to do and it
- 0:46pushes us outside of our comfort zone.
- 0:48Talking about that kind of stretching.
- 0:50Now think about this for a second.
- 0:52When's the last time you did something that really caused you
- 0:56to stretch, really caused you to feel something different?
- 1:00I mean, truly, when's the last time you did something like
- 1:04that? And for me, I think what's so
- 1:07important asking that question is often we forget that that
- 1:12stretching piece is such a big part of who we are as humans.
- 1:17If we're not stretching, then we're really not, you know,
- 1:21living out to our fullest potential.
- 1:23We're really just kind of in this place where we're existing
- 1:27and stretching is a natural part for us.
- 1:30And when we don't do it, we recognize that we feel often not
- 1:34lost so much as incomplete. And I know that might sound
- 1:37strange to some people, but I I mean it that way.
- 1:40It's like you're almost incomplete because it just feels
- 1:42awkward and strange. And the, the biggest aspect of
- 1:47stretching, you know, here we are at the end of the year
- 1:49getting ready to go into goal setting.
- 1:51So everyone always says, well, you know, I, I want to put
- 1:55something that is achievable and whatnot.
- 1:57And I'm like you, you do your goals how you do them, but I
- 2:00don't teach it that way because I think we have to use our
- 2:03imagination, use our creativity and grow in different ways.
- 2:06So I always say, let's look for different levels, but this
- 2:12stretching thing is a big part of the psychology going into it.
- 2:17And you have to accept the fact that you're willing to stretch
- 2:20and you have to remind yourself that you've accepted the fact
- 2:23that you're willing to stretch. So it's almost like you have to
- 2:25have the conversation with yourself and say, OK, am I
- 2:27willing to go out and stretch? Yes.
- 2:30OK, how I how am I going to show that I'm willing to go out and
- 2:33stretch? What am I going to do that's
- 2:35going to help me go out and stretch?
- 2:36How am I going to go out and stretch?
- 2:38What are the things that I know make me feel feel like I'm
- 2:42stretching? And yes, I did use a how in
- 2:44there because this is one of those times where you really
- 2:47want to give yourself an evidence to say, how will I know
- 2:50when I'm stretching? So for me, a big part of it is
- 2:54getting out and speaking, going on the road.
- 2:57And that's a stretch for me. Not that I can't get up on the
- 3:00stages and do it. That's actually the easiest
- 3:02part. The for me, the hardest part is
- 3:04leaving, leaving my farm, leaving my animals, leaving my
- 3:07family, my dogs. It's very hard for me to leave
- 3:11home space because I plug in here so much every day and it's
- 3:16about it's my safety space, it's healing, it's glorious and I
- 3:21love every bit of it. So when I have to go, it takes
- 3:26so much for me to go. And so that stretch, as much as
- 3:31I love being here, I still want the stretch.
- 3:33I still want to go out and I want to touch more lives.
- 3:36I want to be on the stage and be able to talk to people about
- 3:39things that matter, like what we're talking about right now.
- 3:42And in doing that, I have to make the declaration ahead of
- 3:46time. So I would be very remiss if I
- 3:51didn't do it beforehand. So as my team gets ready to
- 3:54start talking about, OK, let's see where you can go, what you
- 3:57can do, one of the things I have to do in order to not set them
- 4:01up for failure is to make the declaration to myself that I
- 4:04committed to doing this. Once I say I committed to doing
- 4:07it, then it's a lot easier for me to continue to do it because
- 4:12I will say, OK, well, I committed and I won't argue with
- 4:14myself in my head because I know I don't lie to myself.
- 4:18So it comes full circle with the don't lie to yourself part of
- 4:21our training. And it also comes full circle
- 4:24with the fact that you have to make these commitments and these
- 4:26stretches before they actually take place.
- 4:29Otherwise you won't follow through with them.
- 4:31You just won't. You just won't follow through
- 4:33with them. And what will end up happening
- 4:34is you'll find excuses and reasons not to and you'll skip
- 4:38out and before you know it, you're done.
- 4:41So do yourself a favor, start making the plan now about what
- 4:45you're willing to do to stretch and and how will you know that
- 4:51you're going to stay willing to do it?
- 4:52What are you going to say to yourself?
- 4:54How are you going to show up? What are you going to think?
- 4:56Like I have a little card that I had printed up when we did the
- 5:00new books. It's like a square little
- 5:02postcard. And it says always be stronger
- 5:04than your excuses. And I just, I have that out in
- 5:08multiple places. I give it out to people with the
- 5:11book because I'm telling you, you have to realize their
- 5:14excuses and you will never know. And if you truly believe we have
- 5:18one life, one chance, then why would you leave anything on the
- 5:22table? Why would you not set yourself
- 5:24up to win? So go out and figure out that
- 5:27piece of the stretching and how you're going to know it.
- 5:30All right, my friends, I will talk to you tomorrow.
- 5:32Bye.
