A heartbreaking double homicide in Pickens County, Alabama, leaves federal corrections officer Justin Elrod, 43, and his wife Lena, 42, dead in their home on July 12. Justin, a decorated veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq, and Lena, known for her vibrant spirit, were killed by suspect George Birmingham, 45, a family friend arrested for burglary and now charged with capital murder. Lena was reportedly killed with a reciprocating saw. Birmingham, currently jailed, faces trial August 20; motive remains unknown.
