- 0:02Bob: Welcome to this episode of the justice team podcast
- 0:05on the justice team network.
- 0:07And today we're going to do a quick episode with just me, and I'm going
- 0:10to teach you some simple tips to have a low cost marketing for lawyers.
- 0:17So that you can easily acquire cases, so that you can monetize
- 0:21referral fees, stuff like that.
- 0:23So here's some stuff that I do, and people may be shocked to learn that
- 0:26until early 2024 was the first time my firm did any type of paid SEO,
- 0:33paid PPC, or Google Ads whatsoever.
- 0:37And we've made it an entire firm of 25 lawyers now.
- 0:41You know, we do A lot of big cases, all from word of mouth referrals,
- 0:46and more importantly, generating referrals from other lawyers.
- 0:49And how did we do this?
- 0:50Well, I do it with my cell phone.
- 0:54Started with just a cell phone, then we later invested more into marketing
- 0:58stuff with high definition cameras.
- 1:00I'm coming to you from our podcast studio in Torrance.
- 1:03California, Los Angeles County.
- 1:05Um, but the way that I see the things is I like to do a lot of media.
- 1:10I think media is a good funnel for you to acquire cases.
- 1:13So if you have a cell phone, I'm going to teach you some simple tips that you can
- 1:16be doing to monetize things a lot better.
- 1:19Especially in today's market where, I mean, let's be honest, private
- 1:23equity is coming into the space.
- 1:24They're gobbling up marketing law firms.
- 1:26They're going to generate a lot of leads.
- 1:28They're spending millions of dollars per month to acquire cases and, you know,
- 1:33that's why we built a platform attorney share so that they could quickly find
- 1:36the better lawyers for those cases.
- 1:38Um, very easily.
- 1:39And the way that you do that, the way that you pick up more referrals and get
- 1:42more cases is people have to know you.
- 1:45They have to know you.
- 1:46They have to know your brand.
- 1:47You have to be a trusted brand.
- 1:49You have to have, be responsive and get back to them.
- 1:51If they think you can trust you and you are responsive and you do good work, you
- 1:56will do very well in the practice of law.
- 1:59Um, so one thing I think you should do is, is pick a niche.
- 2:03Be specific of what you do, let everybody know what you do.
- 2:05For instance, if you do, let's say workplace injury cases, or if you
- 2:11do, um, big rig cases or trucking cases, that should be your brand.
- 2:16You should be educating people all the time about little
- 2:18things, little do's and don'ts.
- 2:20And the more content you have, the better.
- 2:22So if you just film with your iPhone, it could be a selfie video.
- 2:25You could be doing on a green screen, be come from education first.
- 2:29And the more people see you as an educational tool, the more people
- 2:32that will want to refer you cases, whether it's a big case aggregator.
- 2:36Or it's a one off person that just happened to see you.
- 2:38Now, if you're doing this within social media, whether it's LinkedIn,
- 2:42Instagram, Facebook, or Tik TOK, you have to have some sort of call to action.
- 2:47So if people want to find you, how do they find you have a
- 2:50link that's easy accessible.
- 2:52So it gets back into the backend.
- 2:54You should always have your house in order.
- 2:56So wherever somebody is clicking, if they're going to refer you a case,
- 2:59Or have an issue they want to talk to you with, it has to go somewhere
- 3:02and it has to be easily saved.
- 3:04So, I recommend getting on any type of CRM or a case management platform that these
- 3:10leads, quote unquote, go directly there.
- 3:12So from there, everything is stored, so if you want to cross market them later, you
- 3:16can run SMS campaigns, email campaigns, campaigns of people within those CRMs.
- 3:21And I can recommend a few of those offline if you reach out to me.
- 3:24Once it's in there, you can make a decision.
- 3:27Is this a case that my firm wants?
- 3:28Thanks.
- 3:29Is this a referral that my firm wants?
- 3:31And then with the integrations that we built with all the case
- 3:33management platforms at AttorneyShare, you can then refer that out.
- 3:36If it's not your wheelhouse, not your geographic region, or if you want
- 3:40to collaborate with somebody, you can send it in for your suggested
- 3:42referral fee straight through your case management platform into
- 3:45AttorneyShare to find the best match.
- 3:47So here's some simple things that you can be doing.
- 3:50If you have that call to action on your website, on every single social media
- 3:53handle that you have, That's step one.
- 3:56Your house is in order, in the back, that's step two.
- 3:59Now you have to start putting out content.
- 4:02Again, if you have an iPhone, you can do this.
- 4:05Do long form content.
- 4:07What I'm doing right now, I'm talking, I'll probably talk for 10 or 15 minutes.
- 4:11What we do after this, is I will get this podcast transcribed.
- 4:15Uh, there's one called Rev.
- 4:17com, there's several of these.
- 4:18You get them transcribed into word format.
- 4:21You can then recreate that into a blog, put that on your website.
- 4:26That is now organic SEO on the topic that you so select that you are now
- 4:30the expert in, which is now making it even easier for people to find you.
- 4:34On Google using organic stuff.
- 4:36Again, you want to be the source of truth here.
- 4:39The more you do, obviously, the more credibility you have, the more rankings
- 4:42you'll have organically using just that simple SEO score territory.
- 4:47Okay.
- 4:48So then what I say, when you're doing this content, it lives evergreen, which
- 4:51means you should be saving all of it and reusing it and reposting it over and
- 4:56over again, as many mediums as you can.
- 4:58Whenever you have a speaking engagement or a teaching moment, Why not have
- 5:03somebody have a cell phone, even iPhone, or if you want to invest in and have
- 5:07somebody with a camera, either record it, interview it, then you can use
- 5:10that to chop up and put out there.
- 5:12So there's some simple tools you could do to do that.
- 5:14Now we've, I, now we've invested.
- 5:16We have people that they cut up our, all of our long form content into
- 5:20short form content as well, post it all over YouTube, all over Instagram.
- 5:24So we're constantly top of mind, right?
- 5:26This is not that expensive to do when you're, when you're competing
- 5:29on, you some people are spending.
- 5:32Tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars a month just on
- 5:35trying to acquire cases Well, you can take a fraction of that and invest
- 5:39it in marketing systems having high quality video content Having somebody
- 5:43edit your clips so that they have good captions on them Captions within the
- 5:47post that you're putting them that they're being engaged with So the more
- 5:50people see you as that source of truth that credibility you are now a brand
- 5:54and for anybody that does any type Of marketing they know that if a lawyer if
- 5:57they search for a lawyer on Google and they type in injury lawyer, Los Angeles
- 6:01You They'll call people down the line if they don't know anybody specifically.
- 6:04But if they see somebody they recognize from social media or a brand, it's
- 6:08more sticky, meaning that client is more likely to land with you.
- 6:11And specifically, if you're doing attorney referrals like I do getting
- 6:14case from other lawyers, cause I'd like to litigate and try cases.
- 6:17They know you and want your brand, they want you.
- 6:19But that comes with a dedication of doing posts and putting it
- 6:22out there and educating people.
- 6:24Educating people on your results, how you got them, coming from a place of humility.
- 6:29YouTube's a great place for this.
- 6:30I know some very good lawyers like Attorney Tom, Tom Kirker.
- 6:33Perfect example.
- 6:35He has 585, 000 subscribers on YouTube.
- 6:39He literally has YouTube paying him, paying him to create content because
- 6:43of the amount of views that he has.
- 6:45If you want to see how he specifically does it, I did an
- 6:47interview with him on Bourbon of Proof, and he explains all of this.
- 6:50But in a nutshell, he creates all of this long form content on specific cases,
- 6:56on maybe toxic torts, or a mass tort, or something that's hot in the news.
- 7:00Uh, he's very creative, he has an editing team of how he puts it
- 7:02together, but through that engagement, he refers out thousands of cases a
- 7:06year, yes, thousands of cases a year, to lawyers that are the specialists
- 7:10within those cases, and there's no reason why you cannot be doing that.
- 7:14So if you have somebody doing the editing process, and then somebody taking that,
- 7:17say, an hour long show that you've done, and then creating several five minute,
- 7:22or 30 seconds or two minutes shorts.
- 7:25You can now put those everywhere and repurpose them.
- 7:27So content you shot six years ago, you can repurpose it today.
- 7:32It just takes somebody on that cadence and it's not, you can have somebody
- 7:36that's just sophisticated in social media.
- 7:39That is just your back office for posting and reposting all of these, engaging
- 7:43all of the folks that are coming in.
- 7:45So again, I think these are very low cost things that you can be doing.
- 7:50Tomorrow to help monetize all of your referrals.
- 7:55And, you know, I say this all the time.
- 7:57Do not be bashful about promoting yourself because If you're not promoting yourself,
- 8:02how are you going to help clients?
- 8:03How are they going to know to find you?
- 8:05You have to have a little bit of shamelessness here.
- 8:07Um, shameless was one of my favorite shows on Showtime, but it's no
- 8:12longer on, but you know, I digress.
- 8:15Be shameless a little bit about your, your self promotion, but do with humility.
- 8:19Um, but people have to be able to know what you do, what you
- 8:22specialize in, and how to find you.
- 8:26So often I go to people's Instagram handles, other lawyers
- 8:29that reach out for mentorship.
- 8:30I go back to their page.
- 8:31It's a private.
- 8:33It doesn't show where they are.
- 8:34It doesn't show how to contact them.
- 8:36You're throwing money down the drain.
- 8:38You can create a private account for you personally and have a public
- 8:42facing one for you as a lawyer.
- 8:44But if somebody goes to your page, they should know where you are
- 8:45geographically, what type of law you practice, and how to contact you.
- 8:50Make it so easy for consumers or for other lawyers to find you.
- 8:55And now with AttorneyShare, if you make one relationship, they
- 8:58could put you atop of their waterfalls or write a first refusal.
- 9:01For any case in your geographic region or specialty.
- 9:05And if you say no, it'll tear to their number two choice,
- 9:07their number three choice, and then to the public marketplace.
- 9:09So again, we've created this ecosystem where it is so easy for you to brand
- 9:13yourself as a lawyer with just an iPhone and for people to literally send you
- 9:18cases on scale to look at, so you could do what you do best is helping people.
- 9:24Uh, if you have any other.
- 9:26If anybody wants it to talk any more about this, you know, it's
- 9:28usually a different conversation for different folks that people have
- 9:30a budget for marketing or spend.
- 9:32I have some different, you know, criteria or stuff that, that I can
- 9:35tell them with mentorship, but reach out to me, justice team network.
- 9:39com or planet fun Bob on Instagram.
- 9:42And I will get back to you and try to help you with your specific issue.
- 9:45So thank you for listening to this episode of the justice team
- 9:48podcast on the justice team network.
- 9:50And I hope you found today helpful.
- 9:52And.
- 9:52You know what?
- 9:53I hope you just help by helping more people just by putting yourself out there.
- 9:56If you learn one lesson, shoot some content about what you do and what you
- 9:59like to do so people can easily find you.
- 10:01And that's it.
- 10:02Thank you.
