- 1:30you? You like it.
- 1:32Spank it. You know you could spank it.
- 1:33You don't like spanking beef? Beef is good when you spank it.
- 1:37Anything you like it? You like your cheese on your
- 1:39beef, right? OK.
- 1:40Your tomatoes. Have to do with spanking.
- 1:42Well, you got to spank the cheese.
- 1:43No, you don't. You got to spank the cheese so
- 1:45you can put it on the beef, right?

- 1:54I love it. And now for the first time on
- 1:56New York sports loudmouth, we are talking to 2026 NFL draft
- 2:01prospect and Navy safety and outside linebacker.
- 2:05Now our friend Jackson Campbell. Jackson What's up, man?
- 2:10How's it going? Thanks for having me.
- 2:12Well, thank you. I mean, we went a little too
- 2:13long on the last segment, so I know you've been waiting calmly
- 2:16and carefully. It looks like you're in a
- 2:17gymnasium. I mean, you're starting to look
- 2:19like Nathan's back wall. I mean, there's nothing on his
- 2:23back. He looks like he's like in a,
- 2:25you know, a semi. What what we call that Speedy, a
- 2:27jail cell. I almost said cemetery.
- 2:29But who knows with Nathan, He might be a serial killer
- 2:32anyways. And he's not wearing his his
- 2:36blue blazer tonight, so that is a good sign.
- 2:38Ladies and gentlemen, he's just hanging out, relaxing on the
- 2:41couch and watching the show. But Jackson, we've heard a lot
- 2:44of great things about you. You're young, you're talented.
- 2:48You played for Navy. I, I love watching those Navy
- 2:50and Army games. Tell us a little bit about
- 2:53competing against Army year in and year out.
- 2:56Yeah, first, thanks for having me.
- 2:59I'm actually in one of the the, the biggest dormitory in the
- 3:04country. Yeah, here at the name Cabbie.
- 3:06All, all 4000 midshipmen stay in Bancroft Hall.
- 3:10It's super old. I live on the top deck.
- 3:14So that's why that's why it's looks like a prison, actually.
- 3:18But yeah, playing against army every year is a privilege.
- 3:21You know, over 10 million people watch that game.
- 3:25It's a game that they're obviously an opponent that is
- 3:30familiar with our offense. We're familiar with theirs.
- 3:33So you can kind of throw out schemes and everything where
- 3:36throughout the year our offense kind of rolled other teams just
- 3:39because they weren't used to running that like Sling T type
- 3:43of offense. But they obviously know that.
- 3:45So you can throw that out the window and it's just a game of
- 3:48grit. One of the most physical games
- 3:50I've played in. It's electric.
- 3:53It's definitely an American saying.
- 3:56Like as an American, you you need to go to a game.
- 3:59Now, we've seen a lot of great safeties come out of college and
- 4:05go to the NFL. There's a couple of them to
- 4:07mine. Kyle Hamilton playing for the
- 4:09Baltimore Ravens, Big, long, talented speed guy that'll beat
- 4:13you right inside. Derwin James, Sensational on the
- 4:16LA Chargers, Xavier McKinney. When you look at these three
- 4:19guys and one of the guys actually was drafted by the
- 4:22Giants, I no no longer with the Giants, just with the Green Bay
- 4:25Packers. He really developed with the
- 4:26Green Bay Packers. That's a whole nother story.
- 4:28I just like taking shots at all the Giant fans.
- 4:30But nevertheless, you look at these three guys, is there one
- 4:34of these guys that you can compare your skills to?
- 4:37Yeah, I would like to say Kyle Hamilton obviously playing
- 4:40against them. He he was a little before me,
- 4:43but playing against Notre Dame every year is always special.
- 4:46You can kind of roll down into the box.
- 4:49I myself played outside linebackers, the nickel role
- 4:52here at the Academy during the last two years and I think I can
- 4:56be like a Swiss Army knife, whether that be special teams or
- 5:00playing nickel. I'm definitely a physical player
- 5:03and Kyle's the same and I think our games kind of kind of match
- 5:07up well. So you'll be learning all these
- 5:10different types of positions. You've seen these hybrid
- 5:11defenders really become a main thing.
- 5:13Even if you're not the, even if you're not like the best player
- 5:15on the team, somebody that does like 3 or 4 things like that
- 5:17could be very important. How is it for you when your
- 5:20coaching staff over there or even in maybe in other levels in
- 5:22high school like learning all those positions being different
- 5:25like that? I think it's awesome.
- 5:27Ever since growing up, I've just always loved ball.
- 5:30I played quarterback in high school, was Allstate
- 5:33quarterback, recruited at quarterback and so played,
- 5:37played receiver actually my freshman year at the Academy.
- 5:41And then coach Neymar, who recruited me, was let go.
- 5:47I think he's somewhere in San Jose State right now.
- 5:50And then that's when Coach Newberry came in and I switched.
- 5:53Knowing all those different positions and the mindset of a
- 5:57quarterback, what there's like, what they don't like, whether it
- 6:00be getting jammed up or just throwing off that tiny, really
- 6:02helps me translate that on the defensive side of the ball where
- 6:06I knew I could be physical and I knew what offensive players
- 6:10liked and what they didn't like and those sort of things.
- 6:13Yeah, Josh, what's going on, man?
- 6:14This Quinn Copus, man, I first of all, thank you for coming on
- 6:18the show. As you just mentioned, you used
- 6:21to play offense. She was a quarterback in the
- 6:22receiver. Talk to me a little bit about
- 6:24that transition from basically not being hit and now delivering
- 6:28the hit. Yeah, honestly, in high school I
- 6:30was a little bit of a Pansy. I just like to score a
- 6:33touchdown, get the girls, that sort of thing.
- 6:36And my mom actually always told me I would be a better defender.
- 6:40Once I realized that hitting people actually didn't and I had
- 6:44something that I enjoyed, I loved it because we all know the
- 6:48the best athletes on the field actually play defense because
- 6:51come on, I'm able to move backwards where you're, you know
- 6:55exactly where you're going and I can use my athleticism to stop
- 6:59you. There's no better feeling having
- 7:01a stadium full of 40,000 people screaming their heads off and
- 7:04you got to make the stop. And like, knowing that you can
- 7:07actually have control over a game fires me up.
- 7:11And it's something that I want to continue to do because, you
- 7:13know, being a receiver, sometimes you're dependent.
- 7:15You're dependent on your quarterback getting you the ball
- 7:19and then you're also dependent on the line blocking for the
- 7:21quarterback. Depending on the weather,
- 7:23sometimes where defense you can line it, you we can line it up
- 7:26anywhere. I don't care about a gravel Rd.
- 7:31That's a fact. Well, and by the way, we are
- 7:33talking to 2026 NFL draft prospect, Navy's safety and
- 7:37outside linebacker Jackson Campbell.
- 7:39It's not Jackson Dart for all the Giant fans, but it's Jackson
- 7:43Campbell and he might be drafted by the New York Giants.
- 7:45Anything's possible, but there are a couple linebackers in this
- 7:49class that have stood out, especially at the combine.
- 7:52Sunny Styles from Ohio State, Avril, Avril Reese from Ohio
- 7:57State, CJ Allen from Georgia, Anthony Hill Junior.
- 8:01When you look at these talented players that are going to be
- 8:04drafted this year, what type of player can you tell the fans you
- 8:08are compared to these players and why are you a better choice
- 8:12from all three or four of these guys?
- 8:15I don't know those guys on a personal level, and so I know
- 8:17they're great players and the great athletes, but I can only
- 8:20speak on myself and a player that you're getting within me is
- 8:25the ultimate competitor. You can look at our our rap
- 8:28sheet. The last two years we've won
- 8:30over 22 games, only lost five. We've beaten SC teams like
- 8:35Oklahoma. We'd beaten Cincinnati and
- 8:37Memphis twice. I feel like a lot of times we
- 8:41can get the stigma of being a service Academy that we're
- 8:44smaller or less competitive. And I think those days are kind
- 8:49of over. We did something special in the
- 8:51past two years here with no NIL and that we're able to dominate
- 8:57teams. And so I think I'm a player
- 8:58who's super physical and athletic and where he might not
- 9:03have the top end speed like the those other cats might have.
- 9:07And I might not be playing in the Big 10, but you put me out
- 9:11on the field. I'm going to compete and I'm
- 9:12going to go win. I'm a, I'm a sure tackler and I
- 9:17I just love to play football and I want to continue doing that.
- 9:21You hear that Giant fans and jet fans, I like this kid.
- 9:23He's confident. He's not going out there showing
- 9:26you an ego. He's didn't take shots at any of
- 9:28these guys saying that he he's better than any of them because
- 9:31we've heard I've heard Reese go out there and say he's the best.
- 9:33I've heard styles come out there and say that he's the best.
- 9:36Pain, pain go out there and say he's the best.
- 9:38This kids just saying I'm, I'm, I'm the ultimate competitor.
- 9:42I I want to win and I'm going to go out there and give my best
- 9:44every single day and that's what you want to hear.
- 9:46That's why the New York Jets need those kind of players.
- 9:48The giants need those kind of players, so there's a good
- 9:51possibility you'll be here hanging out here in New York.
- 9:53I'd stay away from The Jets. I'm a jet fan because it seems
- 9:57like they get lost in the shuffle.
- 9:59As you know, Quinton Couples was a first round talent by the New
- 10:02York Jets and he got lost and you know, but we got him so he's
- 10:06a he's a first round draft pick for us as well, but there you go
- 10:10we. Found I wouldn't mind going back
- 10:13to the Giants. My my pox tank Daniels, he, he
- 10:16played there, he was a free agent.
- 10:18Oh really? For the Eagles and then was at
- 10:21the Giants when they won the Super Bowl.
- 10:23So you just not mine being embarrassed?
- 10:25You just made you made, made Coach Fish very, very happy over
- 10:29there because he has like, he has this like love fest for the
- 10:32New York Giants. I don't know what it is.
- 10:34He thinks that everybody's getting the New York Giants.
- 10:36You name it, they're getting it. It could be, it could be
- 10:39anybody. Hey, you know what?
- 10:41Ray Lewis is coming out of retirement.
- 10:43He's going to the Giants. Terrell Rugs is coming out of
- 10:45retirement. Reed, everybody, all the great
- 10:48defenders, defensive players, Brian Urlacher, he's coming out
- 10:51of a retirement, he's going to the New York Giants.
- 10:53So if there's something about the New York Giants fans, we got
- 10:57a couple of them on the show and a lot of fans that listen to the
- 10:59show. But you know, it's interesting
- 11:02about the game of football And I've I've seen, I've watched
- 11:05this game, I've seen some really bad football in the past,
- 11:08especially guys that try to transform their talents to
- 11:12another position. What was it like now?
- 11:15You went from one position to another position to another
- 11:18position. So think about it.
- 11:20You you went from the quarterback to a safety to an
- 11:23outside linebacker. Tell us a little bit about all
- 11:26those positions and how hard was it to transform your talent from
- 11:30one position to the other? Yeah, each position is specific
- 11:34and and unique in its own way, but I really don't think the
- 11:39transition was really hard and I think it really stems back to
- 11:43kind of how I was raised and kind of to the competitor that I
- 11:46am at the end of the day, as a freshman being recruited as a
- 11:50quarterback, I had a lot of success in high school and I
- 11:53wanted to play well. To play as a freshman, you got
- 11:57to be a different type of dude, especially at the quarterback
- 12:00position. So having that mindset and
- 12:02knowing like, man, what's the best way to make the bus and and
- 12:05travel and play as oppression? Well, everyone knows the special
- 12:08teams. And so I was out actually out
- 12:12there fall camp freshman year in an orange jersey running down on
- 12:15kickoff just to try to hot get get on the bus.
- 12:19And that kind of caught my coach's eyes.
- 12:22And so from that I started making the transition of being
- 12:25like, hey, like I just want to compete.
- 12:27I want to be out there. The transition in itself wasn't
- 12:30that intense. Knowing that, I just wanted to
- 12:33play. I'm thankful that I did that,
- 12:35too. So I was able to play receiver
- 12:37my freshman year, travel play against teams like Notre Dame,
- 12:41and then my sophomore year on I was able to play defense and
- 12:45it's been great throughout my entire college career.
- 12:49So the military to football or vice versa, transition is
- 12:51something we've seen kind of brought up more prominently.
- 12:54Nate Boyer played for the Seattle Seahawks, was on our
- 12:56show a couple years ago. He said when he was he was
- 12:58actually in the military before he ever played football.
- 13:00Then he played in college and then played a couple years in
- 13:02the NFL after that. We've seen with Alejandro
- 13:04Villanuevo spent a couple years in the military before joining
- 13:07the Steelers and playing for a while.
- 13:08What was your journey like both ways and how did you get
- 13:12exposed? Was it a family thing with
- 13:14joining the military and the blame in football?
- 13:18Yes, I'm, I'm actually the first person in my my family to be in
- 13:22the military. Upon graduation here in May, I'm
- 13:26going to Commission into the Marine Corps.
- 13:28I'm going to be a Marine Corps pilot.
- 13:31I hope to fly 50 threes. They're like a big old
- 13:34helicopter. And yeah, really this, this
- 13:37place is super unique in the fact that it's giving me great
- 13:39opportunity to play big time football.
- 13:42And that's something that I'd love to do it.
- 13:44And then later also give great sacrifice and serve my country
- 13:50what which I love. So it's really unique in that
- 13:54aspect where it gives me the best of both worlds.
- 13:57And as much as I want to continue doing what I love and
- 14:01that's playing football, when football does end, serving is
- 14:05something that I'm very excited. Who's your agent?
- 14:07I, I, I got to reach out to the New York Jets.
- 14:10I I need. This guy, I don't, I don't have
- 14:11one at the moment. Oh, really?
- 14:13One bad. Really trying to reach out to
- 14:15people. Yes.
- 14:17I can help. You're getting, I can help.
- 14:19You're getting a dog over here. Someone who started two years,
- 14:22then all, all defense of the week in the American Conference
- 14:30had 2 1/2 sacks against Air Force.
- 14:33Like, yeah, I got some tape you can run me where I might be
- 14:38short on some measurements and stuff.
- 14:40Like my competition and my mindset is you're going to get a
- 14:43competitor. So I'm trying to get that camp
- 14:45invite by any means necessary because I know what I'm worth.
- 14:51I got to, I can help you with that.
- 14:53I know a couple of agents that always looking for some up and
- 14:57coming talent and why not? What we can cross, we can cross
- 15:01numbers, and I can hook you up with one.
- 15:04So you mentioned the 53, Jesse. Tell me.
- 15:06I don't know too much about it. Well, let me let me rephrase
- 15:09that. I don't know too much about it
- 15:11in regards to certain military details and whatnot.
- 15:14But I am a fan of the Apache. So give me a little compare and
- 15:18contrast in regards to which one is better, which one is not
- 15:21good. But I don't know what I don't
- 15:23know without you know, give me any classified.
- 15:25Information they're similar as, as far as like they're both
- 15:27helicopters and the, the Chapter 53 is a helicopter that the
- 15:32Marine Corps flies. So they can do anything from
- 15:36humanitarian work to dropping off a platoon of infantry
- 15:40Marines into a combat zone. It's it's a unit of a
- 15:45helicopter. So this helicopter can carry
- 15:48supplies as well. So it can carry like a Humvee,
- 15:51it can carry up to twice its weight.
- 15:53After I finished up the basic school, that's the school in
- 15:57Quantico, VA with the Marine Corps.
- 15:59I'll be down in Pensacola doing my flight training, but All in
- 16:04all to say, I hope to extend all that because I'm playing ball in
- 16:08the summer trying to make a squad.
- 16:11Oh, no doubt about it. So you are you entering as a
- 16:13safety or outside linebacker? I am I'm entering as safety.
- 16:18At the safety, OK, so I got a couple questions for you.
- 16:20Are you in the box safety or over the top safety?
- 16:23Primarily in the box, but I can I can do that.
- 16:27You can do both. OK, OK.
- 16:28Which one you prefer? I like to be in the box because
- 16:31I like to come downhill. OK, so you are so that answers
- 16:34my next question. You, are you a big hit guy?
- 16:36Are you a pick six type of guy? Oh yeah, big hit.
- 16:40Big hit, big hit type of guy. OK, OK, OK.
- 16:42That's work. That's good work, man.
- 16:44Yeah, definitely. Safeties are definitely needed
- 16:47to be physical in the next level.
- 16:48So, you know, you got to go throughout the right mindset,
- 16:51man. And so I think you're going to
- 16:53transition work pretty well if you get an invite.
- 16:55Listen to that Jackson, you got an X first round draft pick
- 16:58telling you that you could be a nice fit somewhere.
- 17:02And I, I think the safeties in the NFL are one of those
- 17:06positions that aren't appreciated.
- 17:07I, I, I, you look at the running back position, you look at the
- 17:10safety, we've gone back and forth positions that just are
- 17:14not over appreciated in the league.
- 17:17And, and, and we're seeing guys like we've, we've mentioned over
- 17:20the last couple of, you know, questions that I've asked you
- 17:24guys that Hamilton is one of them.
- 17:26He's starting to develop. Fitzpatrick was just traded to
- 17:28the New York Jets. He was a top five, top 6 when
- 17:31he's healthy. So there are guys out there that
- 17:33can really change a defense. And, and, and I'll tell you this
- 17:36right now, there are not many elite safeties in the NFL right
- 17:40now. We are talking to 2026 NFL Draft
- 17:43prospect, Navy safety and outside linebacker Jackson
- 17:47Campbell. Jackson, you look at the league,
- 17:50is there a particular team? Now I know you can't choose your
- 17:54team, but if you could, is there a particular team you think you
- 17:57fit with in the NFL? And is there a coach out there
- 18:01you would like to be coached by? There's 32 coaches I like to be
- 18:04coached by, but honestly, growing up a Steeler fan, no one
- 18:10the history that they had Pittsburgh legendary coaches,
- 18:14legendary owner, legendary fans, definitely a football town that
- 18:22would, if that's in God's plan, that would be a gift.
- 18:24But really, like I said, there's 32 teams.
- 18:29I I wouldn't mind any of them. Let me get your old agent Q Put
- 18:33my name out. There especially.
- 18:37Especially being at the Academy, you know you got something.
- 18:40You got something in common with Q, You got something in common
- 18:43with QQ is a Pittsburgh Steeler fan.
- 18:45That's one. And and #2 guess where we're
- 18:49going to be around the draft time?
- 18:51We're going to be at Pittsburgh. So maybe you should fly over
- 18:54there. And come and hang out with US
- 18:56033. It's not a big deal, but it's a
- 18:59big deal to me. I'll be.
- 19:01My senior year I was at Hargrade Military Academy.
- 19:05So I kind of, you know, me like it ain't nowhere near your
- 19:09level, but you know, I do. I do.
- 19:12I did have a little bit of military experience in in
- 19:15hospital. Yeah, well, how did you meet
- 19:16Niffen? I mean, seriously, I mean, did
- 19:19did the blue blazer pop out of like a wall or did he pop out
- 19:23somewhere out of a Bush and say, Oh my God, I can help you?
- 19:27How did how did you meet Niffen? Who is that?
- 19:29Niffen, the old niffster, the guy that got you hooked up with
- 19:33us, the old needy. Oh, Oh yeah, he he reached out
- 19:37on Instagram. OK, All right.
- 19:41You know, he had to throw somebody a bone and.
- 19:44He tied. He tied a string to it and he he
- 19:46drew you in. Nathan's a good guy.
- 19:49He's one of those nice guys. He's like a 5 foot 6, like, you
- 19:53know, guy that likes to go out with a blue blazer and, you
- 19:56know, a polo shirt and whatever you call those pants.
- 20:00I mean, he's definitely color. Slacks.
- 20:03Yes, slacks color coordinated in many different areas right
- 20:07there. Lovely sad.
- 20:10So I mean you and Kniffen would be Kniffen loves the women.
- 20:13I mean, is there a particular first of all, are you dating
- 20:17anybody? Are you with anybody right now?
- 20:18Yeah, I am. I'm about to get married in May.
- 20:23There we go. Congratulations.
- 20:24Let's go. There you go.
- 20:26Yes, definitely excited about that.
- 20:29So where does your girl want you to go?
- 20:31Is there a particular team she would like you to play for?
- 20:33Beyoncé said Me. Anywhere.
- 20:38Anywhere. She yes.
- 20:42She read it. It gives a little bit more
- 20:44stability than the military, right?
- 20:47Exactly. Well, I wish you nothing but the
- 20:50best man and if you need any help finding an agent, I'm sure
- 20:53we can help you. I know a couple of guys that
- 20:56would be interested in and taking a call from you and, and,
- 20:59and getting to know you as a player.
- 21:01And if you need that help, I have no problems helping you
- 21:04there. But congratulations on such a
- 21:06great year over there at Navy, a great career playing college
- 21:10ball and, and wherever you go, depending on playing football in
- 21:15the NFL or succeeding as a pilot in the service in the Marine
- 21:18Corps, I wish you nothing but the best.
- 21:20Let's talk after the draft. Wherever you go, if you're
- 21:23picked up in the draft or you're a walk on I, I'd love to know
- 21:27where you're going to go and who you're trying out for my
- 21:29friends. Appreciate it.
- 21:30Yeah, well, I'll definitely be keeping in touch with y'all.
- 21:32I'll reach out to you too. Thank you man.
- 21:34Appreciate you for coming on. There you go.
- 21:39But. How about how about you speak?
- 21:42Give me an urah. Like, not like, like a bark.
- 21:45Like a bark. Urah, Urah.
- 21:46Come on. Little heart, little heart.
- 21:48Little heart. Little heart, little heart.
- 21:51There you go. It sounds like he's getting
- 21:55raped in the ass. There.
- 21:56That's perfect. Thank you, Jackson.
- 22:01We really appreciate you, Jackson Campbell, ladies and
- 22:04gentlemen, fantastic, great person.
- 22:06I like the kid. I really, really do.
- 22:09And let's let's try to find him an agent.
- 22:11I I think it would be great. And you know what, those are the
- 22:15kind of guys you want on your team, guys that are going to
- 22:18work their asses off to make the team, guys that will go out
- 22:21there as a good teammate and, and stand behind you.
- 22:24And he's doing it in the Navy. So he understands discipline, he
- 22:28understands leadership. So I, I like that kid.
- 22:31I really do. I wish him nothing but the best.
- 22:33And like I said, Niffen, if he needs it, he needs to talk to
- 22:36some agencies. I, I know a couple of agents
- 22:39that would definitely be interested in talking to him
- 22:41moving forward into the NFL. So very, very nice kid.
- 22:45Wish him nothing but the best. NFL Whip around, those whip,
- 22:52whip, whip around. Smell my ass glory hole butt
- 22:56plug. I want her melons.
- 22:59There's the whip around graphic. Let's get it going there.
- 23:02We go, boy. Few things in football news we
- 23:05got to talk about before we get going with the rest of it.
- 23:07So we were joking about a little bit because it was such a weird
- 23:10story. Something was wrong.
- 23:12Well, apparently something's really wrong.
- 23:14Poop in the cooah. Arguably the second best wide
- 23:17receiver in the NFL last year after JSN.
- 23:20Some people would say he had an even better year than JSN.
- 23:23He is now apparently in rehab. He was sued the other day.
- 23:28We reported on it for biting a woman and making anti-Semitic
- 23:33remarks. Obviously, that's just the tip
- 23:36of the iceberg. Something's going real wrong
- 23:39with the one of the best players in the NFL.
- 23:42I would love to find out what is going on in his head.
- 23:45I mean, the things that we're hearing about him.
- 23:48I heard that when he was at the Super Bowl, he was roaming
- 23:50around. He looked like he was on speed
- 23:53or something. And then he was interviewing
- 23:56with people and he couldn't even answer the questions.
- 23:58He went to the the award show. He was dancing to the music.
- 24:02He couldn't sit still in his in his seat.
- 24:05I love him. I think he's a great player.
- 24:06He was a fourth round talent. McVeigh has turned him into a
- 24:10superstar. You can argue he's a top.
- 24:13He's the top wide receiver, the second best wide receiver and
- 24:15all of the NFL. It's it's crazy to hear the
- 24:18story that he's biting women and biting people and doing all
- 24:21these crazy things on and off off the field.
- 24:24But I'm sure there's an explanation behind it.
- 24:28I, I don't know if he's bipolar. I, there's, there could be a lot
- 24:31of things going on in this man's head.
- 24:33I still think he has an opportunity to be a star in this
- 24:36NFL, in the NFL And, and, and again, he's the fact that he's
- 24:41trying to find help and go for help is definitely finding a way
- 24:45to balance himself out. So I, I like the story.
- 24:47It's just very weird. All these stories that you're
- 24:49hearing about Puka Nakua. Yeah, what he becomes is going
- 24:52to be another question. But you're right, it's
- 24:54definitely a good thing that he actually, he took initiative and
- 24:57went to go get help right away and not let it get spiraling out
- 25:00of control like we've seen in other cases.
- 25:01Now, obviously he's young, so he's not going to maybe have the
- 25:04build up with the injuries that he's had because he's been
- 25:06relatively healthy in his career.
- 25:07But again, it's still something that is concerning.
- 25:10He hasn't had many maturity issues.
- 25:11I think there was a big reason that the Rams drafted him.
- 25:13They knew that he could be a guy that is a good leader, good
- 25:16mature guy. And I think this is a good
- 25:18example of him taking initiative.
- 25:19Hopefully he can get that help. Yeah, I mean, I think well, one,
- 25:23not to sound insensitive to the situation, but I do think it's
- 25:26APR move especially with him getting sued and having to
- 25:29report to court. But I do think it's good that he
- 25:32is taking, he is being proactive and going to seek help.
- 25:35Like you said earlier, I don't really understand well what the
- 25:38issue is technically. So I guess without all those
- 25:42details, I don't necessarily know if it means anything to go
- 25:46to rehab and whatnot, especially not having certain issues.
- 25:49But I think the I think the professional sports need to take
- 25:53a look into, you know, developing coaches that can
- 25:57actually communicate with players and help these players
- 25:59off the field. I think they do a good job of
- 26:01charity cases and marketing of mental health and stuff like
- 26:04that. But you see a lot of reoccurring
- 26:07situations with athletes and outside or off the field or off
- 26:11the court and whatnot and there is just nobody there.
- 26:14They can't have that trust or whatever.
- 26:16And I know we didn't talk about it, whatever, but there's some
- 26:18situations going on in the NBA and this with the NFL.
- 26:22So I think there needs to be an emphasis on having some coaches
- 26:25that you know players can actually trust to be able to
- 26:28speak to and before these type of situations happen.
- 26:31All right, let's get into the next story here.
- 26:34This one's a little surprising. I didn't expect him to clearly
- 26:38go for a backup job. But her cousin signed with the
- 26:42Las Vegas Raiders. I mean, let's face it, they're
- 26:47taken. Fernando Mendoza, Kirk has made.
- 26:50How much money do you think he's made in his NFL career?
- 26:52I have it written down. Over. 200.
- 26:54Yeah, over 200. Yeah.
- 26:56Easy. Keep going 300, 321 before this
- 27:02latest contract with the Raiders on paper.
- 27:05Now this is Hugh. You're going to love this.
- 27:08This is an NFL 172 million five years.
- 27:12But when I say that it's really a one year, twenty, $20 million
- 27:17guaranteed agreement for the 2026 season, which the Raiders
- 27:21will only have to pay $1.3 million, the veteran minimum of,
- 27:26because the Falcons are still responsible for the rest of that
- 27:30base salary for the 2026 season. Is it he get paid by another
- 27:34team too? Yeah, the Falcons.
- 27:36The Falcons. Are paying just it just the
- 27:37Falcons and the Raiders? According to this, yes.
- 27:40So I thought. I raised like 8-9 and then that
- 27:43one. There's two void years in this
- 27:46deal, so he's going to be getting paid through 2030 just
- 27:49for this one year. I don't know.
- 27:52Handful of bridge games I guess before Mendoza takes over.
- 27:56I love it that I absolutely love it.
- 27:59Here's the thing, they need a veteran quarterback to come in
- 28:02and help Fernando Mendoza figure out things.
- 28:04You know, the NFL is not easy to figure out like it is in
- 28:07college. It's much faster.
- 28:09You need that veteran leader. I think Kirk Cousins is a good
- 28:12guy. He's going to come in there.
- 28:14He's going to teach him the book and and teach him the ropes.
- 28:17And, and here's the thing, Kirk Cousins has been a successful
- 28:19quarterback in the NFL. Fernando Mendozo will probably
- 28:23be called in probably Week 6 or Week 7, but you still have a
- 28:26competent quarterback to be in there.
- 28:28He's going to be able to call signs when Fernando Mendoza
- 28:32comes in. He's going to be able to talk to
- 28:33him in an earpiece when he goes in.
- 28:36So I think this is a great move for the Raiders.
- 28:39And also, you still have an organization that has a rookie
- 28:43coach. Clint Kubiak is a rookie coach.
- 28:45He's never been a head coach in the NFL.
- 28:48Now you have a competent quarterback that can help him,
- 28:50you know, teach these guys his offense.
- 28:53And I think Kirk Cousins is a guy that understands that kind
- 28:57of offense. So and he's been on so many
- 28:59different teams and so many motion calls and and stuff like
- 29:02that over the years when he played for the the Washington
- 29:06Commanders, when he went over the Minnesota and then he's
- 29:09jumped ship to Atlanta. This guy has been a journeyman,
- 29:12but a successful journeyman. So I think this is a slam dunk
- 29:15from it for Fernando Mendoza and this is a Tom Brady move.
- 29:19Say whatever you want. Tom Brady was the one one that
- 29:22wanted this. It's an absolute Tom Brady move.
- 29:25Yeah, it's kind of the opposite of what you saw with the
- 29:27Falcons, too, where the Falcons blindsided him by drafting
- 29:29panics. And now you're seeing a
- 29:31situation where I think he knows that they're going to draft
- 29:33Mendoza, so they're going to be comfortable and he's still going
- 29:35to get the money from the Falcons and later on with the
- 29:37Raiders if they do get into those void years.
- 29:39But yeah, it's definitely a good move.
- 29:41I think that he'll be more comfortable and especially like
- 29:43you said, if Tom Brady makes him comfortable over there.
- 29:46Oh, no doubt about it. Tom Brady going to make him
- 29:47comfortable. That's what he do.
- 29:49He get people paid and make them comfortable.
- 29:50You know, especially with his, you know, what's the, what's the
- 29:53coach called Clint? Kubiak.
- 29:55Well, what's his position called?
- 29:58His title? Ass Liquor.
- 30:03Yeah, but yeah, I think Kirk Cousin, Yeah, I forgot the date,
- 30:06but I couldn't think of it. But yeah, I think Kirk Cousin is
- 30:10is a great mentor, you know, game manager, quarterback,
- 30:15especially this part of his career.
- 30:17So I know I think it's a good, it's a good deal to have him
- 30:20around there and coaching the young bug up on how to manage
- 30:24the game and be successful in the league.
- 30:26And also Brock Bowers. Brock Bowers is still there.
- 30:28You have a competent quarterback that can get him the ball.
- 30:31Expect Brock Bowers, if he could stay healthy this year to have
- 30:34an all pro year. The he's sensational.
- 30:36There's not many guys that can do it as well as Brock does it.
- 30:39And now you have a competent guy that can get him, get him free
- 30:42and get him in the open field. So I, I think I think this is a
- 30:44great move. This is absolutely a Tom Brady
- 30:47move. To me, it's just like, you want
- 30:50to show the rookie who you're going to make that your
- 30:52franchise. This is how you call a huddle.
- 30:55This is how an NFL quarterback who's legit does it.
- 30:59This is how he sets protections, right?
- 31:02This is this is what these guys need to see.
- 31:04They need to know what it's like at this level, how quick you
- 31:06have to do it. If they're going to show him
- 31:08that, if they're going to pay 20 million to Kirk Cousins, who
- 31:11just seems to just keep collecting them checks, man,
- 31:14this is going to put them up to about 350 million.
- 31:17You know what you you know what you learned about this, this is
- 31:20probably this is this is Kirk Cousins last hurrah because
- 31:24anybody that goes to the Raiders completely disappears.
- 31:27So nobody wanted. To take the Raiders, would you
- 31:29take 20? Million, yeah, I take 20 million
- 31:31disappear, no doubt about. It I take $100,000 if the
- 31:35Raiders wanted me to be their quarterback of of course. 20
- 31:38million. All I got to do is mentor.
- 31:39I got to tell him stuff. Yeah, you go get fat and just
- 31:43sit on the side. I met Fernando Mendoza.
- 31:45He is a special kid. I I think a lot of people are
- 31:48going to like him over there in Vegas and he's going to be a fan
- 31:51favorite very quick, Not just in Vegas, throughout the NFL.
- 31:54He's very likable. It's all right.
- 31:56The Jets didn't need the first big Gino's taking him to the
- 31:59promised land anyway. Thank you.
- 32:01So let's get into the the real thing that probably should be
- 32:06talked about more. There's going to be a referee
- 32:09strike this year. This what it looks like.
- 32:12And now the players association is sounding the bells, which
- 32:15they rightfully should. That's player safety is going to
- 32:18be an issue without real referee.
- 32:20So there we talked about it the other day in the sports minute
- 32:24that there's going to be, you know, training of scab officials
- 32:27from college. But we remember what happened in
- 32:312012 with Aaron Rodgers and the fail Mary.
- 32:35We all remember how that ended and how gamblers when it wasn't
- 32:39legal. Now that gambling is legal, how
- 32:41that's going to add a wrinkle to all of this.
- 32:44So NFLPA Executive Director JC Treader stated that trained
- 32:49professional officials are non negotiable for player safety.
- 32:53He argues that only experienced reps can manage the game in real
- 32:56time. The risk of inexperience.
- 32:59Unions warn that less inexperienced crews will make
- 33:02more bad calls, obviously leading to more injuries.
- 33:05And this nonsense that the league is saying that they can
- 33:08remote officiate from New York makes no sense to the Players
- 33:14association. This is good for football,
- 33:16ladies and gentlemen. Why?
- 33:18Because it'll become football again.
- 33:20No more of this two hand touch and this this grasshopper game
- 33:24of crap. We're going to see real hits.
- 33:27No, no calls and this is going to open up the game.
- 33:29We're going to see real football, NFL football again.
- 33:33This is great. Keep them out.
- 33:35I want to see the old timers working out with the players
- 33:38pumping some iron. I want to see these, these
- 33:41people that don't know how to make make a call, doesn't
- 33:43understand the game of football to let the game play.
- 33:46That's what I want to see. I want to see quarterbacks get
- 33:49hit. Not because you put a pinky on
- 33:51him and he's heard like Patrick Mahomes, He hit me.
- 33:54He hit me. I love this.
- 33:57Q 2012 was your first player in the league?
- 33:59Was there a difference with the replacement refs on the refs at
- 34:02the time? Yeah, no, I don't think so.
- 34:04I don't think it's going to be a player safety issue.
- 34:06I think the issue is going to come in whether it was a fumble,
- 34:09whether it was a catch, like those little nuances in the
- 34:12game. It's like they not going to be
- 34:14able to make good judgment on whether or not a catch or fumble
- 34:17or things of that nature. The player safety part, I doubt
- 34:19it. You know, once they get hit one
- 34:21good time, like they they're going to throw the flag,
- 34:23somebody from across the field to throw the flag and say this
- 34:27hit was too violent. The league is going to be, you
- 34:29know, making an emphasis about, you know, the contact.
- 34:33I would say, yeah, now the safety part ain't going to be an
- 34:35issue. But those little nuances is
- 34:37going to be a serious issue because they're not going to be
- 34:39making the right calls when it comes to interceptions and all
- 34:43they have this. Stuff.
- 34:44All right, let's get to the next story here, which would be.
- 34:49Freaking daily wives. As I mean Qi.
- 34:52Don't know if you've gotten to hear about Errol's fandom of his
- 34:55second favorite team. The Eagles.
- 34:58Which is the Eagles? It's his second favorite team.
- 35:01It's true. So you know he has a second
- 35:03favorite team. It may be without their top
- 35:07receiver going forwards because you know that they're Wheeling
- 35:11and dealing in the draft. You know he's going to.
- 35:13But the bigger story is Mike Vrabel, who, if you remember
- 35:17when A.J. Brown was traded out from under
- 35:20him, gave one of the most memorable I hate my GM type of
- 35:23press conferences while biting his tongue ever.
- 35:26And now he doesn't have that GM. And now he's in New England and
- 35:29needs a receiver like A.J. Brown.
- 35:31And he seems to be very available, a lot of dot
- 35:34connecting. And then Vrabel didn't exactly
- 35:37shoot it down when they asked him about it.
- 35:40He just did one of these. We're going to do everything we
- 35:42can to strengthen our team instead of saying no, which
- 35:45means yes, but he can't say yes. Let me tell you guys something.
- 35:50Even if A.J. Brown goes to the Patriots, A.J.
- 35:53Brown is reaching the age of 3031.
- 35:56He's at the tail end of his career.
- 35:58He's not the elite player he once was when he was playing for
- 36:01Tennessee or even the first couple of years with the
- 36:04Philadelphia Eagles. And, and here's another thing,
- 36:07as much as the, the, the Patriots are looking for a
- 36:10number one, is he a number one or more likely a #2 now he's
- 36:15just another one of those Patriot wide receivers that they
- 36:18have #2 and #3 guys now I like A.J.
- 36:22Brown. I think he's still a competent
- 36:25wide receiver, but the Eagles have come out multiple times and
- 36:29said he is not being traded. He's an Eagle until otherwise.
- 36:33Now it could be they could move them.
- 36:35If the Patriots are willing to give the Eagles a third or
- 36:37fourth round draft pick, they could move them.
- 36:40I don't think it's going to happen.
- 36:41Why? While it's become a rumor, and a
- 36:44rumor that's reaching high heights, as a matter of fact,
- 36:48Vegas is predicting that he is a Patriot before the season
- 36:51starts. I don't believe it, and even if
- 36:54it is, he's not a number one. Who cares?
- 36:57Yeah, the Broncos and the Bills, I think were other two other
- 36:59teams that were interested at the time, but they may trade for
- 37:01wide receivers already. And then the Chargers and the
- 37:03Raiders were also in the mix too, apparently.
- 37:05And the Chargers have a lot of cap space.
- 37:07The Patriots. Chargers make sense.
- 37:10Yeah, like I was, I was thinking the Patriots, I think they've
- 37:14made other receivers, veteran receivers in that scheme not
- 37:17work very well. Now, Elliot Wolf is going to try
- 37:19to be stingy against Howie Roseman, and I think that's why
- 37:21you're going to see a cross if this does stall longer.
- 37:24I definitely think if it does happen, it'll stall into July or
- 37:26something like that. But again, it's going to allow
- 37:28the way for other. Teams.
- 37:29Is he a one or two speedy? Low end 1 I think.
- 37:33I don't think he's a 1. He hasn't been a one in two
- 37:35years. Yeah, no, I think that.
- 37:39I think the rumor is true. I think he's going to be a
- 37:41Patriot. You know, I think it's lining up
- 37:43for that. And I think, I mean, they just
- 37:45went to the Super Bowl, they got blown out.
- 37:46They had a #1 receiver. That might be a different game.
- 37:48You never know, you know, based off, you know, what we saw.
- 37:53But I don't think that I do like the Chargers book as well.
- 37:56But A.J. Brown still number one, I think
- 37:58last year gave him an extra year on his on his on his NFL tenure.
- 38:04Smith was the number one. Smith was the number one on that
- 38:08team last year. It wasn't even an argument.
- 38:11Yes, he was he. Was talent wise and where the
- 38:13ball was going because all the the back and forth between AJ,
- 38:17Jalen and. A.J.
- 38:18Brown can't stay healthy and I like AJ.
- 38:20He can't stay healthy and, and again, AJ Brown's lost the step.
- 38:24You watched it last year, especially in the second-half.
- 38:26He's not even a tail end number one.
- 38:29And if he goes to the Patriots, to me, he's a competent #2 and
- 38:32that's what what the Patriots do.
- 38:34They bring in these number twos and they don't have that guy
- 38:36that can open up the field or make open, open up spots where
- 38:40that Drake may can get him the ball.
- 38:42What do they create? Separation.
- 38:44I don't think A.J. Brown could do that anymore.
- 38:47Don't you rather have him than Stefan Diggs though?
- 38:50He's the same player. He's the same player, Stefan.
- 38:53Not even close. It's not even coast a John way
- 38:56better receiving that Stefan days.
- 38:58And the thing about AJ is you don't need the speed that blow
- 39:01you off the top to be a number one wide receiver.
- 39:05He's still got hands. He still can get open, he still
- 39:07can get off the press. So why is you?
- 39:10Why are you considering him not being no more?
- 39:11Because he can't fly by you? Well, I'm looking right now at
- 39:15both guys and I'm looking at their numbers.
- 39:17I disagree with you guys. I think they're very alike right
- 39:20now. Stefan Diggs All right, so A.J.
- 39:22Brown last year had a 1003 yards, 7 touchdowns, 12.9 and
- 39:27average Stefan Diggs 1013 four touchdowns and 11.9.
- 39:32They're the same player. They're practically the same.
- 39:34Player, but that's where. I but that's.
- 39:38Stefan Diggs versus controversy. What are you talking?
- 39:42About they're the same amount of catches, 85 to Stefan Diggs to
- 39:4578 A.J. Brown.
- 39:47They're the same type of player. Yeah, but Wandell Robinson had
- 39:50their two and yards than Justin Jefferson.
- 39:54There to see a better player than Justin Jefferson.
- 39:56There to Jalen Hurts is is to me.
- 40:00He's an all worldwide quarterback and so is Drake May.
- 40:03They're they're both competent quarterbacks.
- 40:05They have almost identical numbers to me.
- 40:08Stefan Dix was the number two and the same thing as A.J.
- 40:11Brown. They're the same player.
- 40:13Go look at the numbers. They're identical.
- 40:16I disagree with you guys a #2. I just like like you want that
- 40:20physical player that A.J. Brown is, you know what I mean?
- 40:23Like he he offers more in the run game than a Stefan digs.
- 40:27He's kind of a more versatile player around the field.
- 40:29We'll see. I just think you'd rather have
- 40:30him. But we got one more left and
- 40:32we're getting close to the draft.
- 40:34Errol, obviously we've talked about it.
- 40:36We're going to be on location for the draft.
- 40:38It's going to be a good one. We want to talk a little bit
- 40:40about some draft rumors heading into it.
- 40:42Obviously, everyone knows Mendoza's pretty locked in to be
- 40:45#1 but we've heard a couple of rumors about this quarterback,
- 40:50Ty Simpson, and a lot of people are tying into The Jets at this
- 40:5516th pick, Errol. It seems to be growing steam.
- 40:58We also hear, you know, Arizona and the Rams.
- 41:03If it's not first round, maybe the Rams end up with him, but
- 41:08the Cardinals are another team very.
- 41:10I'm hearing the Rams are going to try to trade up in the first
- 41:13round to get him. That's what I'm hearing.
- 41:15They really like him. He interviewed so very well with
- 41:1915 teams. I've heard 15 teams come out and
- 41:23say they like this kid. His footwork is great.
- 41:25He's got great arm talent. If he sits the bench and rides
- 41:28the bench for one year and comes in next year, he's going to be a
- 41:31great quarterback in this league.
- 41:33And, and yes, I, I, I think The Jets are absolutely interested
- 41:36in Ty Simpson because they're going to play Geno Smith this
- 41:40year. You're not going to see Ty
- 41:41Simpson this year. He'll sit, he'll ride the bench,
- 41:44he'll learn the offense under Frank Wright and he'll be ready
- 41:47next year if the if need be. I, I think if The Jets are
- 41:51sitting there, I don't think he's going to be there at 16.
- 41:53I think he goes before 16. I've heard Pittsburgh's very
- 41:56interested in him. I heard Pittsburgh might move up
- 41:58to get him and Mike McCarthy is going to transition and, and
- 42:02give him a chance to, to learn that offense.
- 42:04Mike McCarthy, he knows how to develop quarterbacks.
- 42:06I've heard the Rams, I've heard Miami, I've heard Arizona, my
- 42:10trade down and still get him. So I don't think he'll be there
- 42:13at 16 for The Jets. But if he is I, I definitely, if
- 42:17I'm The Jets, I'm taking a family.
- 42:19I'm I'm sitting and let him ride the bench next year and, and let
- 42:22him learn the offense. Yeah, you got to think the Rams
- 42:24are in a good spot at 13 for getting that kind of thing when
- 42:27they've really filled out with the Mcduffie trade.
- 42:29They filled out the biggest weakness on their team.
- 42:31They they are the first round pick trade in that deal, but you
- 42:33have a 13th pick and you got to think maybe Miami might be the
- 42:36other threat. But you never know what
- 42:37direction they're going in this offseason.
- 42:39He goes to the Rams, he's going to be an absolute stunt, I was
- 42:42going to say. I thought Dart was going to the
- 42:44Rams last year for that same reason.
- 42:47Sean McVay has to realize the clock could be ticking with
- 42:50Stafford with all his back injuries.
- 42:52Yeah, I think the Rams would be a good pick for him.
- 42:54I think The Jets are interested because they've been listening
- 42:56to the show and Arrow had been all over him.
- 42:58So they decided to put him in the algorithm as far as The Jets
- 43:02going, but not I. I went back because.
- 43:05Here's the question, though. Here's the question.
- 43:07Was Aaron Glenn a week during that part?
- 43:10I think somebody gave him the the memo, they sent them the
- 43:13clip and I think it went it went forth from there.
- 43:16But yeah, I've been watching the kid and you know, because Arrow
- 43:19been all over him and it looks like his his stock draft has has
- 43:22went up. So I think rounds will be a good
- 43:24pick for him. I don't see The Jets getting I
- 43:27just think The Jets is going to do what The Jets do and that's
- 43:29that up. But yeah, kudos to him.
- 43:31He he stock. It definitely went up over the
- 43:33last couple weeks or something. Another interesting name around
- 43:37the draft that we're going to be talking about for the first hour
- 43:39it looks like is Jeremiah Love, who's increasingly look like a
- 43:44top five lock is what I keep hearing, with the most likely
- 43:49spot that he does not get past is our old friends Brian Dabel
- 43:54and Robert Sala over in Tennessee at 4:00.
- 43:59What do you think about running back going in the top five?
- 44:02I met Jeremiah Love. He's such a nice guy, kind,
- 44:05collective guy. He could have attacked the media
- 44:08when when some people were thinking after what Notre Dame
- 44:12and and the Notre Dame not making the tournament when they
- 44:15deserve to be there. Now we saw obviously what Miami
- 44:18did and Miami took their spot. But it's an incredible he's an
- 44:23incredible person. He's an incredible talent.
- 44:25I think as crazy as it may sound, I think he's better than
- 44:29the number one wide race of running back that was drafted
- 44:31last year and he went to the. Race.
- 44:33I'm sorry. Ashanti.
- 44:35Ashanti about better than Genti. I think he's better than Genti.
- 44:40Yeah, I think he's, he's all around talent.
- 44:42He's better. Than Genti, he's.
- 44:43Sensational. He's big, he's strong, he can
- 44:46run, he can go North and South, he can catch east and West.
- 44:49I like him and I I'll tell you this, he'd be a great fit for
- 44:52the Giants too, because I don't know what Cam's catapoo is
- 44:55anymore after that injury. He could be an absolute stud
- 44:59with the New York Giants after losing Saquon Barkley.
- 45:01He's a power back that can do all the things you want on the
- 45:05in the backfield, catching the ball and and and making people
- 45:07miss. And by the way, John Harbaugh
- 45:09loves those running. Backs yeah, definitely seems
- 45:13like a Titans type of move though, because you've seen this
- 45:15how unk eventually they've operated this offseason already
- 45:17they've drafted Chris Johnson in the first round.
- 45:19They've always emphasized their game since they moved to
- 45:22Tennessee, really on the running backs.
- 45:23They haven't developed passing games very.
- 45:25Well, will you be surprised that the Giants get them?
- 45:27Yes, I would be. I think the Titans are more
- 45:28likely. I it feels like a very Tennessee
- 45:31Titans. The Titans need offensive line.
- 45:33I don't think they should do it. I I agree with you they need off
- 45:36at the line. They they could definitely use
- 45:38anything else on the defensive side of the ball.
- 45:40They should I I would trade back and get a receiver.
- 45:42There's a lot of options. For that, if Robert Solo was
- 45:44smart, which we know we we know he's not because he's a deer in
- 45:47the headlights. Bambi, OK, if he's smart, he
- 45:50gets the kid from Miami, the offensive lineman from Miami.
- 45:52That's that's what I would do and solidify that offensive line
- 45:56that you have so many weaknesses in.
- 45:59You have a a quarterback that is in right now going into a season
- 46:03with no offensive line help, Any protection you need that guy
- 46:07that's going to protect him. Yeah, and I'm just saying it's a
- 46:09move that I seem like the Titans would make.
- 46:11I agree to that. It's the wrong move.
- 46:12They do it. They gave Tony Pollard a big
- 46:14contract a couple years ago and he was pretty good last year,
- 46:16Top 12 running back probably last year.
- 46:18It's not the biggest problem with their team.
- 46:20Yeah, I can see Tennessee doing the same thing.
- 46:22Speedy, I'm with you on that. I think they'll make a dumbest
- 46:25decision like that and get a running back as well, just
- 46:27because it's the most valuable pick on the board.
- 46:30But yeah, for running back to go top five in the league, you're
- 46:35probably going to be the laughing stop no matter how good
- 46:38the running back is. He would have to be.
- 46:40He would have to be what, 2000? Reggie Bush or something?
- 46:43Pretty much. All right.
- 46:44And guys, that is the whip around.
- 46:48There you go. Ty Simpson Jet.
- 46:50Probably not I I wish he I like him.
- 46:54I watched his footwork. I watched every bit of footage
- 46:57because I I've been hearing about Ty Simpson.
- 46:59So I want to see what The Jets are looking at and what they see
- 47:01and what everybody else sees. I wasn't in the meeting when it
- 47:05came to the interview, but everything that I've heard about
- 47:08him is his footwork is some of the best footwork we've seen a
- 47:11quarterback have in about 5 years in the draft.
- 47:14So they say he's got great footwork, but I just think
- 47:17there's a going to be a team out out there that's going to trade
- 47:19up and get him over The Jets because they know The Jets are
- 47:22very interested in him. Unless The Jets want to give up
- 47:25one of those first to move up to get Ty Simpson, I don't think
- 47:27The Jets are going to get him. I think he's going to go
- 47:30somewhere else. This has been a big story,
- 47:31ladies and gentlemen. Jaden Ivy cut after
- 47:34controversial comments The Chicago Bulls place guard Jaden
- 47:38Ivy on waivers Monday after social media post featuring many
- 47:43controversial comments. The Bulls last week also
- 47:46mentioned that they were shutting Ivy down for the rest
- 47:50of the season. Regardless of these comments, he
- 47:53has been out since February 11th with a knee injury.
- 47:57Ivy took shots at the Bulls organization for cutting him for
- 48:02conduct detrimental to the team, saying he did nothing wrong to
- 48:07his teammates or coaches. Bill Don Billy Donovan mentioned
- 48:11how he was hoping Ivy would be a key part of the Bulls future
- 48:16when they traded for him last year, but believed his behavior
- 48:21was unprofessional. Reports say that Ivy was acting
- 48:25like a preacher in the locker room, trying to promote his
- 48:28value, and that didn't sit well with some of his teammates.
- 48:33Patriots running back Trayvon Henderson were among many NFL
- 48:38players that defended Ivy, saying he should be allowed to
- 48:41express what he believes in. Ivy also told TMZ that the NBA
- 48:46is inconsistent in their decision making, referencing
- 48:50referencing Anthony Edwards using similar language in 2022
- 48:56and the league doing nothing about it.
- 48:58Lamella Bowl, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving or other NBA
- 49:03players that have made controversial comments and
- 49:06didn't get any discipline from the league.
- 49:10There's a lot to talk about with this story, but I I wouldn't
- 49:15look at it for what he said. I would look at it in many other
- 49:19ways. Players say controversial things
- 49:22all the time. Some get fined, some get
- 49:25ignored, ignored, some get cut. So what is the standard in the
- 49:29NBA? Is there a rule book or is that
- 49:34just whatever becomes a headline?
- 49:37That is the problem right now with this story.
- 49:40You look at talent. I don't know what Jaden Ivy is.
- 49:44I remember him as a top five, top six draft pick in the NBA.
- 49:48He was a lottery pick. A lot of people wanted the
- 49:50Knicks to get him, move up to get him.
- 49:53But Detroit drafted him and he just didn't develop over there
- 49:58with Cunningham and and some of the talent that they have over
- 50:00there. But you mention and, and what I
- 50:04what I was just reading, Anthony Edwards has said a lot of
- 50:06interesting things over the last couple of years and he's a
- 50:09superstar in the league. He averages 28 points, 29
- 50:13points. The NBA is not going to find
- 50:15him. The NBA is not going to suspend
- 50:17them. The NBA or the Timberwolves are
- 50:19not going to drop him because he's a superstar.
- 50:22They tolerate what superstars are compared to 2nd tier players
- 50:28like a Jaden Ivey. Should players be punished for
- 50:33their personal beliefs? That's the question.
- 50:37That's the main question here. Now here's the thing.
- 50:42Colin Kaepernick, when he said some of the things that he said
- 50:47on the football field, a lot of people didn't like it.
- 50:51Him needing to the national anthem, a lot of people didn't
- 50:54like disrespecting it on a platform that wasn't his was not
- 51:00right. It was not proper.
- 51:03Does that mean that Colin and Colin Kaepernick came out and he
- 51:06spoke about it and he said his piece to it?
- 51:08He said he wasn't trying to disrespect the flag or
- 51:11disrespect anybody. It was his belief that that was
- 51:14his way of trying to express himself.
- 51:18Colin Kaepernick never played a football game again after that.
- 51:22Why? Because the NFL wanted to make a
- 51:25statement, wanted to make a point.
- 51:28Did Reed get a chance to play again?
- 51:30Eric Reed, I think his name was, who was doing it too?
- 51:34Absolutely. Think you got another job with
- 51:36the San Francisco 49ers. Your beliefs are your beliefs.
- 51:40You do not use it on a platform that shouldn't be used on that
- 51:44platform. LeBron James for years has used
- 51:47political views on the NBA platform to spread his beliefs.
- 51:52Was it right? No.
- 51:55But when you have a superstar doing it and a superstar getting
- 51:58away with it, that's the problem.
- 52:00Who's the blame for this? I'm going to blame the NBA.
- 52:03I'm going to blame the NBA because they have not come out.
- 52:06They have not shut down these guys like Kyrie Irving, who had
- 52:10the audacity to take his views. And everybody knows what
- 52:14happened a couple of years ago when he was playing for
- 52:16Brooklyn. I don't have to mention it.
- 52:18And then you had and Adam Silver sit down with him, have a
- 52:22conversation with this man and said and apologize to the
- 52:27Brooklyn fans and then get traded.
- 52:29And then go out there when he is being introduced as a Dalek
- 52:33Dallas Maverick, taking back what he said and saying that he
- 52:36has a belief and he has his own opinion and he should be allowed
- 52:39to use it on the NBA platform. And the problem with the NBA,
- 52:44I've gone on many, many times and why a lot of people can't
- 52:48stand the way the NBA is getting run is the players are running
- 52:51the league. It's not the owners, it's not
- 52:54the commissioner, it's not anybody but the players.
- 52:58And when you have superstar players like the LJA, LeBron
- 53:01James Association, Kevin Durant with his Twitter feeds, Kawhi
- 53:08Leonard on some of the things, the outlandish things he has
- 53:12said over the last couple of years, Paul George, these are
- 53:17superstar players that the NBA allow to speak up with their
- 53:23thoughts that are unlikely to be liked by many people.
- 53:29And it's a problem. It's a problem.
- 53:31And and here's the thing, Jaden Ivey might not be a nice guy.
- 53:36I don't know him personally. I have no idea who he is.
- 53:40And there are NFL players that are speaking up for him.
- 53:42And that's great. He's got people looking out for
- 53:45his best needs. But here's the thing, the
- 53:50Chicago Bulls, and I blame this on the Chicago Bulls, if they
- 53:55had a problem with what he said, why didn't they bring him to the
- 54:00side and have a conversation offset instead of just
- 54:03completely releasing him and dropping him.
- 54:06And, and that is the problem right now because as soon as he
- 54:08mentioned something, as soon as he said something, it was he's
- 54:12gone. Now.
- 54:14I don't know what he was in the locker room, if players liked
- 54:16him. I heard that the Detroit Pistons
- 54:18really liked him. A lot of the players over there.
- 54:21Cunningham is still a good friend of his.
- 54:23He's got friends over there. Duran's a good friend of his.
- 54:25He's got good friends over there in Detroit.
- 54:28So he obviously was a likable person.
- 54:32Is it going to be tolerated that because of a star, now we all
- 54:37know what what was Porter's brother's name?
- 54:39Jonte. Jonte Porter bet on basketball.
- 54:45We all know the story there. They suspended him for life.
- 54:51Now, if it was anybody else, any superstar like a Giannis or
- 54:55LeBron James or any of the superstars that are scoring 2528
- 55:00points a game, the face of the NBA, the basketball, basketball
- 55:04league, NBA Association, whatever you want to call it,
- 55:08they probably get a smack on the hand.
- 55:12They'd probably get a smack on their hands.
- 55:13Nobody cares. You know, it's LeBron James.
- 55:15You know, who knows what's going on with the Chauncey Phillips?
- 55:18There were there were some comments and and some
- 55:21information that maybe LeBron James know.
- 55:22There's no information to say that LeBron James was involved
- 55:26with the betting scheme. But LeBron James is best friends
- 55:31with Jones. He's cool with Chauncey Phillips
- 55:35and his name was brought up. All that stuff that was going on
- 55:37was with the Lakers. How do we know that LeBron James
- 55:41didn't know anything about it? We don't because the NBA, even
- 55:44if he did know something about it or he was involved with it,
- 55:47he is the LJA, he's the LeBron James Association.
- 55:51They're going to brush it under the rug.
- 55:52The Otani thing with baseball, do we remember that?
- 55:55Otani's been a part of two schemes, Not one, but two
- 55:59schemes. And what did baseball do?
- 56:02They brushed it under the rug because he's a superstar.
- 56:05He's an international phenom. Jaden Ivey is not an
- 56:08international phenom. He's not a superstar player.
- 56:11He's a going to be considered a journeyman.
- 56:13He's never going to play in the NBA again.
- 56:15I could. You could bet my bottom dollar
- 56:17on that. I don't see an NBA team taking
- 56:18responsibility because of what Chicago did.
- 56:21And I blame Chicago because Chicago could have done
- 56:24something about this. They could have somehow sat down
- 56:28with this kid and say, you know, you shouldn't have said that.
- 56:31Maybe you should speak to the media and apologize what you
- 56:34said and and we can handle this the right way instead of just
- 56:38throwing them to the wolves. People make mistakes.
- 56:41People say things that they shouldn't say.
- 56:44There are a lot of people out there that have said things.
- 56:46I have said things in the past that I regret saying.
- 56:50I have not on the show, but I've said some ridiculous things and
- 56:55maybe some ridiculous things that people don't like on the
- 56:57show because everybody thinks I'm an idiot.
- 57:00But people make mistakes. People say things that they
- 57:04don't fully mean. I again, I don't know Jaden Ivy
- 57:07personally. I don't know him, but the locker
- 57:12room culture, the ideology of the locker room, the talent that
- 57:22is self-proclaimed over there in the locker room.
- 57:25People that say, oh, he's our superstar player.
- 57:28Jordan I Jaden Ivy is not, he's not Michael Jordan.
- 57:31He's not Scottie Pippen. That is the reason.
- 57:35If there's no control in your locker room, if your coach
- 57:38cannot control the players on what they say and I go, I'm
- 57:42going to take shots at Billy Donovan, who's a Long Island
- 57:44neighbor. If personally Billy Donovan
- 57:49didn't like what he has done in the locker room, how he rolls as
- 57:53a teammate, you wonder if Billy Donovan really has his players
- 57:59ears. You follow your coach, right?
- 58:03We talked about Danny Hurley and how he's such a great leader and
- 58:07the players want to play for him.
- 58:09People, How many Bill Belichick fans have we had on the, you
- 58:12know, players that have are big Bill Belichick fans?
- 58:15Everybody thinks he's an ass. Nobody likes him.
- 58:18But all the players that have been on the show said, oh, he's
- 58:20funny. He's a lot funnier than you
- 58:22think. He's a great leader.
- 58:23You want to play hard for him, but nobody would know that
- 58:27because he doesn't speak to the media and he can't stand people.
- 58:30But we won't know that. Maybe there's something that is
- 58:35not being controlled in that locker room and is This is why
- 58:40these players think that they can say and do whatever they
- 58:43want. I think this is a big problem.
- 58:46The NBA needs to take control of it.
- 58:48They're, I know the CBA is going to be up in a in a year or two.
- 58:52I think it's in 2028 when the CBA is up.
- 58:55Something needs to be done with the players union.
- 58:58They need to speak to these players.
- 59:00The NBA, especially ownership, needs to take back control of
- 59:04this league. I think about it, these players
- 59:09could just get traded if they even if there's a no trade
- 59:12clause, they could get traded. If the players, if they don't
- 59:16have a no trade clause and they don't have to play for that
- 59:19team, they can tell they're going to tell the ownership or
- 59:22they can tell the organization. You, yeah, you traded for me,
- 59:26but I don't want to play for this team.
- 59:27So either you trade me to the team I want or I'm not playing
- 59:30this year. And that's the problem with the
- 59:34NBA. It's guaranteed contract.
- 59:35This isn't the NFL. You don't just get a signing
- 59:38bonus. If you're getting a $250 million
- 59:41contract, that's what you're getting.
- 59:44You're not going to lose out on any of that money.
- 59:46That's guaranteed. Baseball contracts are
- 59:48guaranteed, football contracts or not.
- 59:53And now you put this kid on waivers, nobody's going to take
- 59:57him. Nobody wants him.
- 59:59He's not a superstar player. He's not even half decent
- 1:00:02player. I think the most he's ever
- 1:00:03averaged in the season I think is 12 or 11 points.
- 1:00:07He's a, a competent backup player.
- 1:00:10Maybe he's a a Third Point guard or third guard on your roster.
- 1:00:15You have a divided locker room that doesn't like him.
- 1:00:21I, I, I just this has something to do with the ownership.
- 1:00:24This has something to do with team the NBA controlling what is
- 1:00:28going on in these locker rooms. What is being spoken about now?
- 1:00:32You can't tell somebody what they want to believe.
- 1:00:34But in the locker room, this cannot be talked about on our
- 1:00:38platform. This cannot be spoken about when
- 1:00:42I am, when the media is talking to you, you cannot bring out
- 1:00:46your own opinion about what you think about anything.
- 1:00:49Sexuality, politically, religion, nothing should be
- 1:00:53brought up. I don't care what you're
- 1:00:55reading. I don't care what you're
- 1:00:56studying. I don't care what you think if
- 1:00:58you think the earth is flat. Kyrie Irving, I don't want to
- 1:01:02know what you think. Your geography.
- 1:01:06This isn't a school. This is an economic class.
- 1:01:11This is basketball. You're getting paid millions and
- 1:01:13millions of dollars. I don't want to know your
- 1:01:15opinion. It's an opinionated situation,
- 1:01:20What's going on in the world. I don't want to know.
- 1:01:22There's war going on. This is bad for basketball
- 1:01:26because what it is, it lays a blind eye of what's really the
- 1:01:31problem in the NBA. And that is Adam Silver doesn't
- 1:01:34know how to control the players and the NBA does not know how to
- 1:01:41push forward on dropping the hammer on organizations, on what
- 1:01:47is going on and what is being spoken about in the locker room.
- 1:01:55Yeah, it's a tough situation. I think when you look at the
- 1:01:58hypocrisy of the NBA and I think that's where it's defined as
- 1:02:01what you were talking about with Anthony Edwards, Kevin Durant,
- 1:02:05anti-Semitic comments. I believe Kyrie Irving was the
- 1:02:07biggest one with the anti-Semitic comments.
- 1:02:09And we saw with the NFL to Deshawn Jackson made those same
- 1:02:12kind of things. And granted, he was later in his
- 1:02:14career, but they brushed that under the rug as well.
- 1:02:16Like you can't pick and choose just all these cases.
- 1:02:19And I agree with you, I think it's mostly on the bull.
- 1:02:21I think somebody like Billy Donovan is a veteran coach you
- 1:02:23would think would be a little more of a mentor for this kind
- 1:02:25of thing. But I do think that the the
- 1:02:28teams now have to get these types of counseling.
- 1:02:31Like, you look at all this mental health stuff that is
- 1:02:33going to come out for good things.
- 1:02:35And something like this is something that, yeah, he could
- 1:02:39preach the values all he wants, but he doesn't.
- 1:02:41There's a way to do it without saying it out loud.
- 1:02:43And there's going to be divided locker rooms every, every sport
- 1:02:46has one of those that just get out of hand fast.
- 1:02:48And this is a veteran team. It's a team stuck in mediocrity
- 1:02:50for a while. And that's going to happen.
- 1:02:53But yeah, you're right, Adam Silver definitely is the more
- 1:02:55expressive of these commissioners that are just
- 1:02:58allowing this kind of thing to continue on having.
- 1:03:00I was so sickened when I heard of what Kyrie Irving said.
- 1:03:02I think that was the worst of the extreme examples.
- 1:03:04But you're, like you said, Anthony Edwards.
- 1:03:05And because he's a superstar, nobody cares.
- 1:03:07It's Kyrie Irving. Yeah, because he's popular.
- 1:03:09He's one of Lebron's guys. Yeah, he's going to get away
- 1:03:11with. It Kevin Durant says something
- 1:03:13vicious and illegal or disrespectful, nobody cares.
- 1:03:17It's Kevin Durant because it's the superstar.
- 1:03:19He's the offensive phenom. LeBron James has said so many
- 1:03:23things that you you just have you're shaking your head.
- 1:03:26He was at award shows and taking shots at politics.
- 1:03:30How many times have we watched the Golden Globes or how many
- 1:03:33times have we watched the Oscars?
- 1:03:35And the first thing these guys are going to do once they come
- 1:03:38out and they win an award is they take shots at democracy or
- 1:03:41take shots at a president or. I don't want to hear about your
- 1:03:44politics. I just want to hear about your
- 1:03:46award, why you won. Thank everybody and get the hell
- 1:03:50off the stage. I don't want to know your
- 1:03:52opinion. Your opinion doesn't mean
- 1:03:54anything to me. If you don't like something,
- 1:03:57keep it to yourself. Say it on your own platform.
- 1:04:00Don't use the NBA. Don't use the Golden Globes.
- 1:04:02Don't use the Oscars. I don't want to hear it anymore.
- 1:04:05Stop. This is garbage.
- 1:04:07This is bad in the media loves it because it's something they
- 1:04:10can sell to TMZ. It's something that they could
- 1:04:13sell to the magazine or the newspapers.
- 1:04:15It's pathetic. This story is a little tricky.
- 1:04:18I think that, you know, I for me personally, I can attack both
- 1:04:21sides, one, you know, not respectfully.
- 1:04:25I I don't think that the league being more involved with resolve
- 1:04:30any of these situations. I mean, obviously they just
- 1:04:33released a guy and said he's detrimental to the team without
- 1:04:35giving any time of any type of example or whatnot.
- 1:04:39So it's just, that's just great language to be able to say I'm
- 1:04:42justified for making a decision that I am.
- 1:04:44But as far as him and the guy, the kid man is and I'm a man of
- 1:04:49faith. So the kid is a new believer and
- 1:04:50and he's battling a knee injury. And so therefore he's got more
- 1:04:55time to himself than he than he need.
- 1:04:57And this is kind of what I was trying to talk to or hint to
- 1:05:00earlier about having a coach or having some form of mentor that
- 1:05:04can be there for the players that they could trust to be able
- 1:05:08to express these ideas and these issues and these thoughts that's
- 1:05:10going through their head. So therefore, when it comes down
- 1:05:13to they don't get online and they don't go public with these
- 1:05:17issues, I think what people are failing to realize in regards to
- 1:05:21this situation is it wasn't the fact of his belief or his
- 1:05:24stance, which is what got him fired.
- 1:05:25He literally came out and attacked the NBA.
- 1:05:28He attacked the NBA, he attacked the players.
- 1:05:31And so when you signed that contract, you're in agreement
- 1:05:34that you're going to perform. However, there is Gray area in
- 1:05:38that contract that says that you must represent the organization
- 1:05:42in the league outside of being in uniform.
- 1:05:46And so he signed that and therefore he gets the
- 1:05:49repercussions of the decision that he made.
- 1:05:51Now, I don't agree with the fact that he should have been
- 1:05:53released because I believe that I'm a big component of what we
- 1:05:57call double jeopardy, right? Like you shouldn't get charged
- 1:05:59twice. Like so he went public on a
- 1:06:02platform on his own IG by itself outside of a Chicago Bull
- 1:06:07uniform, outside of any NBA parent, umm, coding or any type
- 1:06:12of symbol that represents the NBA.
- 1:06:14He was outside of those lines. So the fact that he is being
- 1:06:19punished for his basically just his expression in regards to
- 1:06:22what he disagree with, with some of the rules and regulations.
- 1:06:25I don't think he should be fired for that.
- 1:06:27I think that there's needs to, like you said earlier, there
- 1:06:29needs to be a conversation for that.
- 1:06:31But All in all, man, I think that it's, it's it's a double
- 1:06:34edged sword when, when we as players, you know, do things
- 1:06:38good, you know, you guys, everybody promotes us and
- 1:06:41supports us as superheroes. But the minute that we have a
- 1:06:44human issue or a human mistake, now we're deemed as unfit.
- 1:06:48And I just don't think that's fair to the players when if you
- 1:06:51want us to be superheroes, you we take the Cape off as well.
- 1:06:54So who, you know, people want to be engaged and people want to
- 1:06:57know exactly how I feel or how athletes feel about this or
- 1:07:01what's their thoughts on this and things that nature.
- 1:07:03Now, I think he went overboard in regards to what he did.
- 1:07:06And even as a as a man of faith, there was nothing religion and
- 1:07:11faithful about what he said. It was all anger towards his
- 1:07:14situation. So he never even addressed his
- 1:07:17faith in that in that whole segment.
- 1:07:19So overall, man, I think that the kid just dealing with some
- 1:07:23mental health issues in regards to being, you know, pick that
- 1:07:26high, having a knee issue, not being able to get on the court
- 1:07:30and now just becoming a new believer.
- 1:07:31And then he's just expressed itself in a way that was
- 1:07:34detrimental to not only the the team, but the organization and
- 1:07:37to itself as well. Like he shouldn't have been
- 1:07:39angry online spewing the hate that he was doing.
- 1:07:42Even if you don't agree with something, that wasn't the time
- 1:07:45to do that. You should have had a private
- 1:07:46conversation with somebody to be able to air those thoughts out.
- 1:07:49And then that way, if you want to, and that's another thing far
- 1:07:52as the players, if you want to be expressive about what you
- 1:07:56believe in and, and you want to combat an organization that
- 1:08:00supports something that you don't agree with, have a
- 1:08:03meeting, have those conversations, go to your union,
- 1:08:07go to your union Rep, have those meetings and create something
- 1:08:11that can pull, that can be an outlet for other players to
- 1:08:15participate in to resolve the issue.
- 1:08:18And that's the thing that a lot of players miss.
- 1:08:20They think that they can go out and because they got a following
- 1:08:23of the fans that they can just go out and say what they're
- 1:08:25going to say and it's going to get across.
- 1:08:27The message is not dull because you went on a public platform
- 1:08:32and spew your anger towards the situation versus doing the
- 1:08:36correct measures and having a meeting with your union Rep and
- 1:08:39being able to have that conversation with the league and
- 1:08:41your team about the things that you disagree with to resolve the
- 1:08:44issue versus just saying that you hate the issue.
- 1:08:47This isn't just about one player.
- 1:08:50This is about where the line is. Can players speak freely?
- 1:08:54Do. Teams.
- 1:08:56Hold on, do teams have the right to protect culture?
- 1:09:01And who decides when a comic is crossing the line?
- 1:09:06Because today it's one guy, tomorrow it could be anyone.
- 1:09:10Think about that. It could be anyone.
- 1:09:13And whether you agree with him or not, this sets the present.
- 1:09:17So my hard earned platform here is to speak about what the NBA
- 1:09:26is as an organization. And, and, and the way I look at
- 1:09:30the NBA is, is that they don't know how to control a multi
- 1:09:35billion dollar industry. These players are running a
- 1:09:38billion dollar industry and all these owners care about is how
- 1:09:41much money you going to make for me?
- 1:09:43How big are you? How much your social media is
- 1:09:46going to draw people to want to come and check out some of the
- 1:09:49the jerseys that you're selling, some of the hats that you're
- 1:09:52selling, some of the name brands that you're selling.
- 1:09:55Like, there you go, Kyrie Irving.
- 1:09:57They only care about money. Adam Silver only cares about
- 1:10:00money. Mucho dinero.
- 1:10:03He doesn't care about what who you hurt or his culture or what
- 1:10:08somebody says about his culture or how many grandparents died
- 1:10:11in, you know, in the Holocaust. He don't care about any of that.
- 1:10:14All he cares about is money. That's all he cares about money.
- 1:10:18What are you going to bring in for me and how much you're going
- 1:10:21to bring for me lately? And that, I think is the problem
- 1:10:25right now in professional sports.
- 1:10:27I think that these guys use platforms.
- 1:10:28Social media has been the devil. Michael Jordan.
- 1:10:32Michael Jordan has come out and said many, many times that
- 1:10:36everybody buys my sneaker. It don't matter if you're a
- 1:10:39Republican, a Democrat. I'm not going to go out there
- 1:10:42and speak about something I don't know anything about or
- 1:10:45have no reason to speak about. Why?
- 1:10:49Because he's trying to sell a brand.
- 1:10:51No, it's money. That's his bottom line.
- 1:10:54He's trying to but. Everybody, everybody is with the
- 1:10:56money. The owners want the money, the
- 1:10:58players want the all right, everybody all right, so all.
- 1:11:01Right. So you say they're they're all
- 1:11:02about the money. So if they're all about the
- 1:11:04money, why are they letting the players run amok?
- 1:11:07Why they're letting run? Why are they letting the players
- 1:11:09run amok? What's running them up?
- 1:11:11What do you they're offered in more than they're?
- 1:11:13Going out there on their social medias and platforms to take
- 1:11:17shots at whatever they believe in.
- 1:11:19That has nothing to do with the league.
- 1:11:22Now, there has to be some kind of rule, something, something in
- 1:11:25your contracts that if you're going to go out there and state
- 1:11:27something you're going to, you're going to lose money,
- 1:11:30you're going to lose your contract if you're going to go
- 1:11:32out there and put yourself in harm's way.
- 1:11:33But the NBA won't do that. Why?
- 1:11:35Because you have guys like LeBron James, guys like Kevin
- 1:11:38Durant that speak freely and say whatever they want and agree
- 1:11:42with any of these guys like Kyrie Irving coming out and
- 1:11:45saying things that he has said in the past that has affected a
- 1:11:48group of people. Couldn't you think?
- 1:11:50Could you imagine how much Brooklyn lost because of Kyrie
- 1:11:54Irving? There were so many people that
- 1:11:56sold their tickets, sold their company seats because of Kyrie
- 1:12:00Irving, because of his big mouth.
- 1:12:03But Kyrie doesn't care because he's still making his money.
- 1:12:06He's still playing in Dallas. He still pay for a champ, play
- 1:12:09for a championship. And, and right now, Brooklyn's
- 1:12:11in the gutter because the one superstar they kept is the one
- 1:12:15guy that threw them to the wolves.
- 1:12:18And that, to me, is a problem the NFL.
- 1:12:22The NFL but but why is it a problem when these these same
- 1:12:26guys that these same individuals that you're talking about, when
- 1:12:29they get on the social media, they have hundreds and thousands
- 1:12:32of people calling them this and calling them that and calling
- 1:12:35like going at them and really calling them names and things
- 1:12:37that are we going to ignore that part or we're just going to just
- 1:12:41acknowledge the one side when the one side get offended?
- 1:12:43So because. If you think that Jaden Ivan
- 1:12:45didn't receive hate mail when he said what he said, or Kyrie
- 1:12:48Irving didn't get nails to the cross when he did what he did,
- 1:12:51like, regardless about how much money he made, you know how much
- 1:12:55money he lost in the midst of that as well.
- 1:12:57Let me ask you a question. If you're going to mention or
- 1:13:00speak about anything that's going on in the world that has
- 1:13:03nothing to do with the NBA and you're going to go out there on
- 1:13:06a platform and do it, you should get hate mail.
- 1:13:08You should. You're making millions and
- 1:13:10millions of dollars. I'm never going to see that.
- 1:13:12Kind of money, Does it matter? Yes, it does matter.
- 1:13:14Why does the money matter? You keep making a lot of money.
- 1:13:17Why do you have to play basketball?
- 1:13:20Wait till you wait till. You retire, then come out and
- 1:13:25say whatever you feel. I could care less when you're
- 1:13:27playing for an organization, you're playing for a name,
- 1:13:29you're playing for a city. Why are you going to go out
- 1:13:32there and throw the city onto the bus and open your big mouth
- 1:13:34and say and throw whatever your beliefs that you believe in?
- 1:13:37There are a lot of things I believe in.
- 1:13:39You're not going to see me go out on this platform and throw
- 1:13:41it out there and say, well, this is what I believe, so go F
- 1:13:45yourself. No, personal choice doesn't mean
- 1:13:47that you don't have the right to do that.
- 1:13:49What I'm saying is the league don't have a person that says,
- 1:13:52hey, don't, don't promote this. You send the league $100 million
- 1:13:56to promote something, that's what they're going to do.
- 1:13:58They're going to promote it. There's no boundaries when it
- 1:14:00comes to nobody. But besides with the athletes,
- 1:14:03and that's the problem that I have.
- 1:14:04We have the right to of freedom of speech.
- 1:14:07You get to say what you want to. There's also consequences that
- 1:14:09come with that. However, I didn't sign up to be
- 1:14:14a person, a person that speaks well in the media.
- 1:14:17I signed up to be a football player.
- 1:14:19Kyrie Irving signed up to be a basketball player.
- 1:14:21You are paying me based off the talent and gift I have in the
- 1:14:25sport. You're not paying me in regards
- 1:14:28to what I say in my beliefs. And that's the problem because
- 1:14:31the league can believe anything and they can promote anything.
- 1:14:34But the athletes have to shut up and just sit to the side and do
- 1:14:37whatever sport they do, all because they make a lot of
- 1:14:39money. But the owners can do it.
- 1:14:40They can say what they want to say.
- 1:14:42Everybody can do what they want to do besides the athlete.
- 1:14:44And that's the problem that I have with the whole situation,
- 1:14:46because nobody else is getting held accountable to the same
- 1:14:49standard that we are. Now, if you're signing a
- 1:14:54contract with an organization and the city is paying your
- 1:14:58contract, they are, they're going to the games, they're
- 1:15:00paying for the, the, the TV deals and all that other stuff.
- 1:15:04They're buying your jerseys and that's what you're getting paid
- 1:15:06for. You're signed, you sign your
- 1:15:09name, your, your, your livelihood for that, that
- 1:15:13contract. And when you go out there and
- 1:15:16you open your mouth and you say things that maybe is derogatory
- 1:15:21to the city or derogatory to the culture over there, that's a
- 1:15:26problem. That is a problem.
- 1:15:28Yes, you have a freedom of speech.
- 1:15:30Yes, there's there's no doubt about it.
- 1:15:32You definitely have freedom of speech.
- 1:15:34But there are things that you say or you don't say when it
- 1:15:37comes to a culture, what's going on in the world right now that
- 1:15:40is going to commit and cause problems not only for a league
- 1:15:45but for the world as a whole. And I'm going to tell you this
- 1:15:49right now, I'm not, I don't know Jaden Ivy at all.
- 1:15:54I do, I think he should have another job in the NBA.
- 1:15:56Yes, I think he should get another chance.
- 1:15:59But he needs to go out there and apologize for what he said.
- 1:16:03He should not be going out there because to me, you're not.
- 1:16:07When you're on a platform, you're when you're looked up,
- 1:16:10there are kids looking out, looking up to you and watching
- 1:16:13you and buying your sneaker and buying your hat and and buying
- 1:16:16your jersey. You don't go out there and you
- 1:16:19don't use that platform and rub it in the dirt.
- 1:16:23And that's what he did because he was mad at something or he
- 1:16:26has something going on mentally in his brain.
- 1:16:30He did something that not only hurt himself, but distracted an
- 1:16:35organization. Distracted.
- 1:16:37The Chicago Bulls aren't a good organization.
- 1:16:39So right now, they're not winning.
- 1:16:40They're not. They're not anything to watch.
- 1:16:42So what is it? So a big story like this
- 1:16:45completely blindsides what the Chicago Bulls are trying to do
- 1:16:49with Billy Donovan because Jaden Ivey said something that he
- 1:16:54shouldn't have said on that platform.
- 1:16:57If he to me, when you have Derek Jeter, OK, I'm I'm going to say
- 1:17:01something about Derek Jeter. Derek Jeter played sports and he
- 1:17:07he played at such a high level. He was one of the greatest
- 1:17:10shortstops of all time. Not a big fan of Derek Jeter
- 1:17:12because even though I'm a Yankee fan, but.
- 1:17:15And what did he used to do? There were stories coming out
- 1:17:17that he hung out with different women and then after he was done
- 1:17:22with them, he would autograph a bunch of stuff and send them on
- 1:17:26their way. OK, that's what he did.
- 1:17:27He never got married until he was he was done with the the
- 1:17:31game of baseball. Did he do the right thing?
- 1:17:33Absolutely. Even though it was a story,
- 1:17:36there was no. Truth.
- 1:17:37That was the right thing. There was no truth to it.
- 1:17:40There was nothing that came out that even though it was a story,
- 1:17:43it was no truth to it. And nothing came out.
- 1:17:45Even to this day, Derek Jeter Whitney, he smiles every time
- 1:17:48everybody brings that up to him. David Ortiz brought it up on the
- 1:17:50national televised thing on Fox and he smiled at it.
- 1:17:53He smirked at it. That doesn't mean that it was
- 1:17:55true. What you see when you go out
- 1:17:57there and you throw yourself onto the bus in the public eye,
- 1:18:01you're always going to be looked at as a bad guy.
- 1:18:04You don't do things on the public end.
- 1:18:07When you're on a platform, a multi billion dollar platform
- 1:18:11and you're doing things, that's going to hurt your product, hurt
- 1:18:13your brand, hurt anything that you were trying to build.
- 1:18:16All the good things that you were building is gone now
- 1:18:19because he opened his mouth and all he had to do 24 hours later
- 1:18:23is apologize. I'm sorry.
- 1:18:24I said that I was wrong. I misjudged the way I use this
- 1:18:27platform. I, I, my heart goes out to
- 1:18:30everybody that I heard. He didn't want to do that.
- 1:18:33He had no reason to do that. But why should he do that?
- 1:18:37They said if he believed that what he said is true, why should
- 1:18:41he believe that? Why should he?
- 1:18:42Why should he go back? Because it's not right Again, he
- 1:18:45get paid to play basketball. That's what the contract is for
- 1:18:49basketball. All right.
- 1:18:51So just as well as a brand may step away because of something
- 1:18:55you said, there's also brands that will support you.
- 1:18:58We never, we never look at the other side.
- 1:19:00There's going to be superheroes and there's going to be Dennis
- 1:19:02in every part of life. You're not going to always be a
- 1:19:05superhero. And what I'm saying is there's
- 1:19:08also fans who support what he said.
- 1:19:10There's people coming to his defense.
- 1:19:12So he he's grown an audience based off what he said.
- 1:19:17Now he's also lonesome people. Now we can grow.
- 1:19:21Now we can grow an audience outside of the NBA because he's.
- 1:19:24Not going to get another guy 10 million.
- 1:19:26He's still got paid. Oh good, he got $10 million and
- 1:19:29he'll never play an NBA game again because.
- 1:19:31That's not a guarantee, but yes, because there's other you can
- 1:19:34guarantee. You can guarantee it their
- 1:19:37Christian owner. Owner is Christian so that he
- 1:19:41may do it, but you don't guarantee.
- 1:19:45You never know. Colin Kaepernick still kept
- 1:19:48getting invited to combines and teams workouts and stuff like
- 1:19:51that, so you never know. Interesting.
- 1:19:54It's an interesting argument. And again, if you're, if you're
- 1:19:58an NBA fan and you, you see things like this and, and this
- 1:20:02has been going on. And I'm not saying it doesn't go
- 1:20:04in on other games and other sports.
- 1:20:06It does, but no more than the NBA.
- 1:20:09The NBA, and it's been a big problem here in the NBA, is that
- 1:20:14these guys think they can. Use the NBA in the platform to
- 1:20:17say and do whatever they want at the NFL.
- 1:20:22Rodger Good Ellis dropped hammers on players to keep their
- 1:20:25mouth shut. We've seen Gary Bettman after
- 1:20:28what we heard after the the whole kneeling, Gary Bettman
- 1:20:32made sure he sees anybody from doing anything on his platform.
- 1:20:37And, and I think that the NBA has no control over their
- 1:20:40players. None.
- 1:20:41And I, I think it's a big problem, a problem.
- 1:20:43And that's why Adam Silver should have became the CEO or
- 1:20:46CFO for Disney and get the hell out of here and bring somebody
- 1:20:49in that actually knows what they're doing.
- 1:20:50The guy is 1 ugly SOB is 1 ugly person.
- 1:20:54That's a person. Oh, he's so ugly, man.
- 1:20:57Is your platform to attack? He is so ugly, looking at him
- 1:21:02makes me sick to my stomach. This is what I'm talking.
- 1:21:04About. I'm just saying.
- 1:21:05Adam said. Come out and say something about
- 1:21:07Earl. He's rogue because he has.
- 1:21:09I could care less. Well.
- 1:21:11I could care less the same things about me.
- 1:21:14That's what I'm telling you. I could care.
- 1:21:15Less, he doesn't have to. Like person in the comments,
- 1:21:18that's called. He doesn't have to like me.
- 1:21:19And then I go online and I say something to you and you get
- 1:21:22mad, like, Oh well. Give it the rent.
- 1:21:24Oh, well, I I could care less what Adam Silver thinks about
- 1:21:27me. That that's exactly what he
- 1:21:28looks like right there. That little crap.
- 1:21:31That little. What are they?
- 1:21:32What was he from? Harry Potter?
- 1:21:33What did they call Dobby? Dobby.
- 1:21:35That's what he is. He looks like Dobby Dobby, an
- 1:21:39ugly mother. Thank you to all the fans on all
