- 0:00Chapter 53 from the book of Isaiah, you might see shirts
- 0:06with this number 53 on it. So this chapter is going to have
- 0:11a lot of extra scripture to read from, but it's clearly about
- 0:17Jesus the Messiah. And I will be reading all those
- 0:22references to other scripture. Scripture, interpret scripture.
- 0:26So we can see that Isaiah 53 is about Jesus the Messiah, the one
- 0:33who takes away all the sins and makes it possible for us to be
- 0:37in God's Kingdom. So this is a very important
- 0:40chapter from the book of Isaiah. Let's start with a prayer.
- 0:45Dear God, please open the eyes of anyone who is struggling to
- 0:49see this and please let the Holy Spirit open their eyes and see
- 0:56that this is talking about Jesus, your son.
- 1:00We ask this in Jesus name, Amen. So chapter 53, who has believed?
- 1:07Now this is Isaiah the prophet talking.
- 1:10Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord
- 1:15been revealed? The study Bible says who has
- 1:20believed our message John in John chapter 12 verse 38 and
- 1:25Paul in Romans chapter 10 verse 616 quoted this verse to show
- 1:32that many Jews did not believe the good news about the Messiah.
- 1:37So we will we will read this. I mean, now Isaiah, he's talking
- 1:41about the future because he, he is in the seven hundreds BC and
- 1:47he's saying this this part of it.
- 1:50So in John chapter 12, verse 38, this was to fulfill the word of
- 1:57Isaiah, the prophet Lord, who has believed our message and to
- 2:02whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
- 2:06That's this is belief and unbelief on the among the Jews.
- 2:12I will go ahead and read this part of John chapter 12 starting
- 2:18with verse 37, said even after Jesus had performed so many
- 2:24signs in their presence, they still would not believe him.
- 2:30This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet Lord, who has
- 2:34believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been
- 2:37revealed? So in other scripture, Jesus
- 2:42said that I came, he was saying this, I came to fulfill what the
- 2:48prophets spoke of. So throughout the New Testament,
- 2:56the books of the Gospels, we see where the old prophets, the old
- 3:01prophet are, the prophets from ancient times where their
- 3:06prophecies were being fulfilled as Jesus was doing these things.
- 3:10So blueletterbible.org is a great resource because it gives
- 3:15you those references when you're reading Scripture.
- 3:18So I highly recommend that if you want to study Scripture
- 3:23deeply. So I'm going to continue in John
- 3:26chapter 4 for this reason. They could not believe because
- 3:31as I Isaiah says elsewhere, he has blinded their eyes and
- 3:36hardened their hearts. So they can neither see with
- 3:39their eyes nor understand with their hearts nor turn.
- 3:44And I would heal them. And that's from Isaiah chapter
- 3:486, verse 10. Isaiah said this because he saw
- 3:54Jesus's glory and spoke about him.
- 3:58So John, who wrote this Gospel that we're reading from right
- 4:03now, he, he knew what Isaiah said and he knew that Isaiah saw
- 4:11Jesus's glory and spoke about him.
- 4:14It was very clear back then when and John was interacting with
- 4:19Jesus, he lived with Jesus and went places with Jesus and was
- 4:25actually the one disciple of Jesus's that he, he claimed
- 4:29himself, he said the one whom Jesus loved.
- 4:32So he felt extremely close to Jesus during the time that he
- 4:36spent with him. So John continues to say.
- 4:41Yet at the same time, many, even among the leaders believed in
- 4:46him. So there is, you know, there
- 4:48were some Jewish people. Obviously the first Christians
- 4:52were Jewish people. And I think that's hard for some
- 4:56people that are new to the Bible to really understand that.
- 4:58But the very first Christians were the Jewish people, but
- 5:02because of the Pharisees, they would not openly acknowledge
- 5:06their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue.
- 5:12So these, the Pharisees are these leaders of the Jewish
- 5:16people, the religious leaders, and they were ones who would go
- 5:22through the actions. But let's see, they would have
- 5:25the head knowledge, but they didn't acted out in faith, but
- 5:32they did do religious acts so that they looked holy.
- 5:37So they were like and they caused problems with with the
- 5:43Christians, the people who were believers, the people who saw
- 5:46Jesus doing these miracles and believed what he said.
- 5:49They were fearful, but they would be put out of synagogue
- 5:54for they loved human praise more than praise from God.
- 6:00So that's something we all need to make sure in our lives.
- 6:03This applies to all of us. We don't want to love human
- 6:08praise more than praise from God.
- 6:11And sometimes it might take us to a place in time where we have
- 6:17to stand up for something and it's related to God.
- 6:22And we're going to be at that kind of crossroads where it's
- 6:25like if I say something, these people that I'm with are going
- 6:29to probably reject me or react negatively to what I say.
- 6:33But it's the truth about God. And we have to make sure that
- 6:37we're not going to be loving human praise more than praise
- 6:41from God. John continues to say.
- 6:44Then Jesus cried out. Whoever believes in me does not
- 6:48believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.
- 6:53So he's, he's tying himself to God and, and he continues to say
- 7:00the one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me.
- 7:06So Jesus is in the image of the Father.
- 7:10I have come into the world as a light so that no one who
- 7:16believes in me should stay in darkness.
- 7:20So when Jesus effects a person, and as person realizes who Jesus
- 7:27is, anyone who believes in him doesn't stay in darkness.
- 7:32We are all in darkness before we truly have a relationship with
- 7:38Jesus, before Jesus begins to change our life, before we
- 7:42understand about Him, we are in darkness and it's through.
- 7:47For me personally, it was through reading the Bible that
- 7:50things changed. I could be present in a church
- 7:53and hear all these things, but nothing affected me.
- 7:55For some reason it wasn't until I read the the Bible, and it
- 8:00does say that the Bible is the inspired word of God and it's
- 8:04alive. It's a living book where it it
- 8:09does, it brings about conviction when you read it.
- 8:13And I guess it's a point when people don't read the Bible, but
- 8:18when you do it, it really it, it changes you.
- 8:22I, I don't know, I guess there are some people who have said
- 8:25that they read the Bible, but it didn't change them.
- 8:28But I don't know if they were truly seeking or they were just
- 8:31like scanning through the pages real fast to see, you know, to
- 8:35see what this it was all about. Because it could be really
- 8:38confusing when you first read it.
- 8:40But as you get deeper into it and start realizing there are
- 8:44all kinds of, you know, almost like treasures that you find
- 8:48that you start you're, it's probably the Holy Spirit
- 8:52connecting different scriptures together anyway.
- 8:57So this is a quote from Jesus. If anyone hears my words, but
- 9:02does not keep them, I do not judge that person, for I did not
- 9:08come to judge the world, but to save the world.
- 9:12So at least the first coming of Jesus was not here for
- 9:16judgement. The second coming is or both
- 9:20salvation and judgment, but it's this is something that's really
- 9:25important. If anyone hears my words but
- 9:27does not keep them. So Jesus is giving people,
- 9:32mankind, words about what to do. And he said, but he says he's
- 9:39not going to judge. When he was there that first
- 9:41time, he was not coming to judge, He was coming to save the
- 9:45world. But that was kind of a secret.
- 9:47Nobody knew really what he was doing and he had to do it that
- 9:51way or he wouldn't have been crucified.
- 9:55And if he wasn't crucified, as we will get to later, we
- 9:58wouldn't be able to live in God's Kingdom.
- 10:01So he had to somewhat keep it a secret and make sure that it
- 10:06happened. Otherwise the curse would still
- 10:09exist and we would be eternally separated from God.
- 10:13That's why there's so much emphasis on Jesus, because
- 10:16without what Jesus did, we could not be in God's Kingdom.
- 10:22And this will hopefully be cleared up a little bit later
- 10:25when we read more scripture. So then Jesus says there is a
- 10:28judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words.
- 10:32The very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last
- 10:38day. So at the last day when Jesus,
- 10:42it is going to be Jesus that returns.
- 10:45And when he returns there, there will be condemnation for those
- 10:50who do not believe in Jesus. So right now there are other
- 10:54religions where they don't believe Jesus is a savior.
- 10:59So this is like a very serious warning for all those people who
- 11:02don't believe that Jesus is the savior.
- 11:06The words that are spoken in the Bible are going to condemn them.
- 11:10The words are powerful though. The all of our future is
- 11:16foretold in the Bible. That's why it's so important.
- 11:19I don't know why anyone doesn't want to know.
- 11:22I mean, everybody goes to these, not everybody, but people always
- 11:27want to know about their future. And the Bible tells us about our
- 11:32ultimate future. And that's the most important
- 11:34thing when you think about it, eternity, when we're here on
- 11:38Earth. It's only a matter of, you know,
- 11:4180, I mean, 67, who knows? I mean, it could be young too.
- 11:46I mean, we're only here for a short while up to maybe like
- 11:49currently, I think age limits about not limits, but where
- 11:54people oldest people probably be about 120.
- 11:58So in comparison to eternity, 120 isn't a lot of time,
- 12:03especially when you look back at the book of Genesis and people
- 12:07originally were living 900 years, 800 years, 600 years.
- 12:14And it seems like that's going to be reinstated after Jesus
- 12:18returns because it it does say that, you know, someone who only
- 12:22lives till 100 will be considered like young at that
- 12:27point. So that's going to be very
- 12:29interesting because things are going to change when Jesus
- 12:31returns from that aspect. Now I'm going to continue with
- 12:35what Jesus said, for I do not speak on my own, but the Father
- 12:40who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken.
- 12:46I know that His command leads to eternal life.
- 12:52So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.
- 12:58So see how Jesus is completely obedient to the Father's will.
- 13:02He is in unison with the Father, and whatever He is speaking is
- 13:07coming from the Father. So He is He is one with the
- 13:11Father. Let's continue on and let's see
- 13:19the next thing it says. He grew up before him like a
- 13:25tender shoot and like a root out of dry ground.
- 13:29He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in
- 13:36his appearance that we should desire him.
- 13:40And let's see, and I'll read a couple parts of Scripture in
- 13:46John. John chapter one, verse 46 came
- 13:51to mind when I was reading that. And because it says Nazareth,
- 13:55can anything good come from there, Nathaniel?
- 13:59Nathaniel asked. Come and see, said Philip.
- 14:04Now this is this is about Jesus when he was calling different
- 14:09people. And so I will just read this
- 14:11section 43 through 51. The next day Jesus decided to
- 14:16leave for Galilee finding Philip, he said to him, follow
- 14:20me. Philip, like Andrew and Peter
- 14:22was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathaniel and told
- 14:28him We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and
- 14:34about whom the prophets also wrote Jesus of Nazareth, the son
- 14:40of Joseph, Nazareth. Can anything good come from
- 14:45there? Nathaniel asked.
- 14:49Come and see, said Philip. When Jesus saw Nathaniel
- 14:52approaching, he said of him, He truly is an Israelite in whom
- 14:58there is no deceit. How do you know me?
- 15:02Nathaniel asked. Jesus answered, I saw you while
- 15:05you were sitting under the fig tree before Philip called you.
- 15:09Then Nathaniel declared, Rabbi, you are the Son of God.
- 15:15You are the king of Israel. Jesus said, You believe because
- 15:21I told you I saw you under the fig tree.
- 15:23You will see greater things than that.
- 15:26He then added, very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven
- 15:31open and the angels of God ascending and descending on the
- 15:37Son of Man. So but he came from an area of a
- 15:42town that Nathaniel was saying what's good from there?
- 15:48And this is where Jesus came from.
- 15:51He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering and
- 15:56familiar with pain. Think about the cross and Jesus
- 15:59being flogged before he died on the cross.
- 16:02Like one from people hid their faces, like one from whom people
- 16:08hid their faces. He was despised and we held him
- 16:12in low esteem. So let's see, it says, I think I
- 16:21read, Oh yeah, I didn't read about Romans 10 verse 16, but
- 16:27not this is what Paul wrote. But not all the Israelites
- 16:32accepted the good news for Isaiah says Lord, who has
- 16:37believed our message. Consequently, faith comes from
- 16:41hearing the message and the message is heard through the
- 16:45word about Christ. So that's the gospel.
- 16:50But I ask, did they not hear? Of course they did.
- 16:53Their voice was gone out into all the earth, their words to
- 16:59the ends of the world. Again I ask, did Israel not
- 17:05understand? First Moses says, I will make
- 17:09you envious by those who are not a nation.
- 17:13I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding
- 17:19and Isaiah boldly says I was found by those who did not seek
- 17:24me. I revealed myself to those who
- 17:28did not ask for me. That's in Isaiah 65 verse one.
- 17:32And concerning Israel, he says all day long I have held out my
- 17:37hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.
- 17:42And that's in Isaiah 65 verse 2. Now Paul who said this, he
- 17:47originally would persecute Christians, like not only just
- 17:51persecute them, but kill them until he had a vision of Jesus.
- 17:57And Jesus said to him in that vision, Saul, Saul, why are you
- 18:03persecuting me? And he, Paul or Saul, who at the
- 18:08time. So whenever somebody changes and
- 18:11begets and has a new life, they have a new name that God gives
- 18:15them. And that's what happened with
- 18:19many people in the Bible. I don't think Moses had a new
- 18:23name though, but Abraham did. First it was Abram, then it
- 18:29became Abraham, first it was Sarai, and then it became Sarah.
- 18:34And then Paul was originally Saul and after his change and
- 18:41then. So Saul at the time when he saw
- 18:45the vision, he became blinded because of all the light that
- 18:48came from the vision. But Jesus told him where to go
- 18:51and how to regain his sight. And he was obedient to Jesus and
- 18:56did that and it was regained his sight and then proceeded to
- 19:00write a lot of the books, all these different letters, like to
- 19:04the the Corinthians, the Philippians, the Galatians, the
- 19:06Ephesians, those are all letters that Paul wrote.
- 19:09So God used somebody who was killing people who believed in
- 19:15Jesus to actually write a lot of the book.
- 19:18And he was, he was, I guess he was a Pharisee is what he really
- 19:23originally was. And he knew all the laws he was
- 19:27very zealous for, for his Jewish belief.
- 19:34So anyway, it's just interesting how God uses people and what he
- 19:40does with people. So it doesn't really matter
- 19:42where you come from, because God can.
- 19:45When we become born again, God changes people.
- 19:50So let's see what else it said. Who was Isaiah describing in
- 19:55verse 2? While this could refer to the
- 19:58nation or faithful remnant of Israel, it becomes clear that
- 20:01Isaiah was describing an individual, the Messiah, who
- 20:05would bear the sins of the world.
- 20:08The surprise is that the individual would be so humble
- 20:11and unassuming. So that was one of the problems
- 20:14is that the people of Israel at the time were expecting a king
- 20:19like they had known kings because it was, you know, they
- 20:22knew the Messiah was going to be a king, but they didn't picture
- 20:25him the way he came. And that's something else that
- 20:29we have to really think about in regards to prophecy.
- 20:33We might get certain images or thoughts in our minds about
- 20:37prophecy and think one way, but we need to keep an open mind
- 20:41because if we think it's going to happen a specific way and
- 20:45it's something that can be interpreted, interpreted, not
- 20:49just something that is very clearly stated how it's going to
- 20:52happen. But if it's something that's
- 20:54open to interpretation, we have to keep that kind of loose
- 20:57because we don't want to miss something significant like the
- 21:03people of Israel did. Like the people who were alive
- 21:08at the time that Jesus came and was doing these miracles.
- 21:12And they they missed it because they did not think somebody
- 21:17coming as a servant was going to be this king that had been
- 21:21foretold, but yet he was fulfilling all these prophecies.
- 21:24So maybe if they were in the the word more and let their minds be
- 21:30opened and truly seeking God, you know, maybe they were just
- 21:33in the word so that they could show everybody else like how
- 21:37good they were. And that, you know, there's a
- 21:39lot of people that are like that in religious areas and churches
- 21:44and stuff like that where they just want everybody to think
- 21:46they're holy and they're righteous and they're good and
- 21:49all these kinds of things. But truly inside are they only
- 21:54God knows that. But it shows that if we just go
- 21:58through the motions and we check the boxes like I do this, I do
- 22:02that, like I go to church, I give money, you know, I'm good.
- 22:07Well, it's not quite all that. And that's what is really
- 22:11important to understand. So going back to Isaiah 53,
- 22:17surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we
- 22:23considered him punished by God. So this is on the cross.
- 22:27And what when I thought about, yet we considered him punished
- 22:31by God, I think I thought about save yourself.
- 22:35So Matthew, Mark and Luke all wrote about this happened when
- 22:42he was on the cross dying and people were surrounding him and
- 22:45saying this. So Matthew chapter 27 verse 40
- 22:50says and saying, you who are going to destroy the temple and
- 22:56in three days save yourself, come down from that cross if you
- 23:01are the Son of God. So they were mocking him while
- 23:04he's dying in agony after being flogged.
- 23:08And they're saying, go ahead and save yourself like they it
- 23:11didn't he didn't come like they expected.
- 23:15And here they are taunting the Son of God on the cross.
- 23:19And then in Mark chapter 15, verse 30, come down from the
- 23:23cross and save yourself. And then Luke 20, chapter 23,
- 23:27verse 37 and said, if you are the king of the Jews, save
- 23:31yourself. And then in Luke 23, verse 39,
- 23:35one of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him.
- 23:41Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us like he was
- 23:46being, you know, hurling an insult at Jesus.
- 23:50And if you know scripture, you know that Jesus was on the cross
- 23:55with two different criminals on either side.
- 23:59Well, apparently the one was hurling insults at him, but the
- 24:03other was realized who he really was and said, Remember Me?
- 24:09And Jesus went further than that and said, surely this day you
- 24:13will be in paradise with me. So this is like how gracious and
- 24:19merciful was Jesus that even when he was dying on the cross,
- 24:24he took another man who was a criminal hanging next to him who
- 24:28was probably justifiably on that cross for something he did.
- 24:32And he forgave him and told him he was going to be in God's
- 24:35Kingdom that very day. So in in paradise with Jesus.
- 24:39So it's just amazing like that he would even have that in his
- 24:45heart while he is suffering and barely breathing and, you know,
- 24:51having gouges on his body, yet he's turning to another man
- 24:55who's on the cross next to him and saying, I'm going to take
- 24:59you with me. Isn't that amazing?
- 25:01Isn't that showing love, the love of God, the love of the Son
- 25:05of God, that he's going to do this while he's suffering for
- 25:08all these people and at the same time he's got another guy in his
- 25:11ear hurling insults at him. So this is just showing the
- 25:17character of God, character of Jesus.
- 25:22Let's see. Then there's it says, surely he
- 25:24took up our pain and suffering before and bore our suffering.
- 25:29When Matthew saw Jesus healing people, he thought of this text.
- 25:34Peter extended the image saying that when Christ died, He bore
- 25:39our sins in his body on the cross.
- 25:42So here's a little bit more. So in Matthew chapter 8, verse
- 25:4717, this was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet
- 25:51Isaiah. He took up our infirmities and
- 25:55bore our diseases. So I'm going to read the verse
- 25:59before that. When evening came, many who were
- 26:02demon possessed were brought to him and he drove out the spirits
- 26:07with a word and healed all the sick.
- 26:11So Jesus is throwing out demons and with the word all He is is
- 26:17really speaking. When they say throw him out, I
- 26:19mean He's speaking to them and telling them to leave people and
- 26:23it's happening and He's healing people who are sick.
- 26:28In Mark chapter 1, it says that evening after this is another
- 26:32one of the gospels. That evening after sunset, the
- 26:35people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon possessed.
- 26:39The whole town gathered at the door and Jesus healed many who
- 26:43had various diseases. He also drove out many demons,
- 26:47but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he
- 26:53was. It's kind of interesting Jesus
- 26:55was somewhat hiding his identity because I guess if, if people
- 27:00knew he was the Son of God or if and this just shows how Jesus
- 27:05had authority over them at that point because Jesus, he has
- 27:10authority over the demons. So he's, you know, he's superior
- 27:15obviously to them. He's telling them get out of
- 27:18that person right now and he's not allowing them to speak
- 27:24because they could say he's the son of God.
- 27:27And then if a demon is saying that too, if everybody's saying
- 27:31that, do you think he would actually die on the cross?
- 27:34So he again, was keeping it kind of quiet, who he was.
- 27:38He was showing the glory of God. So I guess that some would
- 27:42believe, but at the same time He was keeping it a secret from
- 27:47many so that he could die on the cross to ultimately save more
- 27:51people by His death on the cross.
- 27:54So then in Luke it says at sunset people brought people to
- 27:58Jesus who had all kinds of various kinds of sickness, and
- 28:01laying hands on each one of them, He healed them.
- 28:05Moreover, demons came out of many people shouting, Oh, now
- 28:09here, this is it shouting, you are the Son of God.
- 28:12But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak because
- 28:17they knew he was the Messiah. So it's interesting.
- 28:22He they were shouting about who they knew.
- 28:27So some people did hear that out of the mouth of demons.
- 28:31Interesting. OK, so then let's see.
- 28:37But he was. I'll just read through.
- 28:40But he was pierced for our transgressions.
- 28:42He was crushed for our iniquities.
- 28:44The punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by His
- 28:50wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone
- 28:55astray. Each of us has turned to our own
- 28:58way, and the Lord has laid on Him the inequity of us all.
- 29:05So how are we healed? By wounds given to someone else?
- 29:10Actually, I need I skipped over something that I needed to read.
- 29:14How could a substitute suffer the punishment for our sins?
- 29:18Before the coming of the perfect sacrifice, the Messiah, the
- 29:22Israelites were instructed by God to sacrifice innocent
- 29:26animals, using the animal's blood to atone for the sinner's
- 29:32sins. The writer of Hebrews declared
- 29:36it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away
- 29:41the sins. That's in Hebrews 10 verse 4.
- 29:44These animal sacrifices foreshadowed Christ who was
- 29:49sacrificed once to take away the sins of many, and that's found
- 29:54in Hebrews verse Chapter 9, verse 28.
- 30:01So in Peter referencing Isaiah 53 verses 7 through 9, I'm going
- 30:09to read first Peter chapter 2, verses 18 through 25.
- 30:16Slaves in reverent fear of God. Submit yourself to your masters,
- 30:21not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to
- 30:24those who are harsh. For it is commendable if someone
- 30:27bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they
- 30:32are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if
- 30:37you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it?
- 30:40But if you suffer by doing good and you endure it, this is
- 30:44commendable before God. To this you were called because
- 30:49Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should
- 30:54follow. In His steps.
- 30:57He committed no sin and no deceit.
- 31:01Deceit was found in His mouth. That's from Isaiah 53 verse 9.
- 31:07When they hurled their insults at Him, He did not retaliate.
- 31:11When He suffered, He made no threats.
- 31:14Instead, He entrusted himself to Him who judges justly the
- 31:21Father. He bore our sins on in His body
- 31:26on the cross, so that we may we might die to sins and live for
- 31:35righteousness. By His wounds you have been
- 31:39healed, for you were like sheep going astray, but now you have
- 31:45returned to the Shepherd and the overseer of your souls.
- 31:50I think this is important that verse 24 He bore our sins in His
- 31:56body on the cross so that we might.
- 32:01This means not everybody will do this.
- 32:04We might die to our sins. That means get rid of our sins,
- 32:08clean up our sins, get it out and live for righteousness.
- 32:14So this is what happens when somebody is born again.
- 32:18They die to their sins. They start not sinning like they
- 32:23were before. Jesus's death on the cross
- 32:28doesn't like just cover up our sins and and let us keep on
- 32:34sinning. It doesn't do that it there's a
- 32:37change in a person. If we truly are born again, we
- 32:43die to our sins. Jesus said like no one can
- 32:46follow me unless you take up your own cross.
- 32:49So there's a lot of people out there that think if they just
- 32:52state with their head knowledge that they believe in Jesus that
- 32:57they are saved. But Jesus said you must be born
- 33:02again if you're going to enter the Kingdom of God.
- 33:06And so if we are born again, that means we have to, you know,
- 33:12die and be born again, born with the Spirit.
- 33:14The Spirit is what changes us. It is by God.
- 33:18We can't do it on our own. It's the Holy Spirit that
- 33:21changes us. But it says we die to sins and
- 33:26live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been
- 33:30healed. So Jesus's wounds heal us.
- 33:35It's only through Jesus that we have like so that we might die
- 33:40to sins. But there is where we have to
- 33:42make a choice. Are we going to die to our sins?
- 33:46Are we willing to live righteously?
- 33:50And if so, God will give us help in doing that.
- 33:54He says that when temptation comes across, He will always
- 33:59give us a way out. So that we ultimately are
- 34:02choosing what we do. We are either going to choose
- 34:06the sin or we're going to reject it.
- 34:09But God is gracious that He will give us a way out.
- 34:13So anybody who says, well, I just can't control it, I just
- 34:16keep doing it. No, you can control it.
- 34:21You are just choosing to keep it.
- 34:22You don't want to give it up. You are, you are not choosing
- 34:28that. And if it, and it's not saying
- 34:31that this is like an easy thing for anybody to do, but that's
- 34:35why Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit to help us, to strengthen
- 34:39us, to give us courage. But if we just say, oh, I'm
- 34:43weak, I can't do anything, we're denying the power of Christ.
- 34:48And I see a lot of people doing that today.
- 34:51And I didn't even understand this for a long time in my life.
- 34:55But finally when I did, it really made a difference.
- 34:59And that's when my life started changing and things started
- 35:04happening that more spiritual things was when I actually told
- 35:10God that I didn't want to be a hypocrite anymore.
- 35:12I didn't want to keep on hanging on to stuff that I was hanging
- 35:16on to and be, you know, do what he says, basically be obedient
- 35:22to him. And Jesus says, if you love me,
- 35:23you will obey my commands. So it takes somebody loving God
- 35:28back to want to do this because naturally we don't want to do
- 35:31this. We want to hang on to our sins.
- 35:33We don't necessarily like everything that's said in here.
- 35:36And that's God set commands in the Bible because it causes us
- 35:40to not do things we might want to do.
- 35:45And and so it that's a choice, we either give that up or we
- 35:52rebel against God. And if you think about what
- 35:56Jesus did on the cross for us is it's like what a slap in the
- 36:00face that would be to Jesus if we just keep on doing the sin
- 36:06that he died for. I mean, just think about what
- 36:09that really says to Jesus next. In Isaiah 53, it says he was
- 36:15oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth.
- 36:19He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as sheep before
- 36:26its shearers is silent, so He did not open his mouth.
- 36:32By oppression and judgement He was taken away.
- 36:35Yet who of his generation protested?
- 36:39Nobody protested when Jesus was supposed to be, you know, he was
- 36:44given a choice. You know, I think it was Pilate
- 36:47that said, you know, who should I free?
- 36:49And the people chanted Barabbas and they wanted him to crucify
- 36:55Jesus. So nobody stood up for Jesus.
- 36:58They all wanted. Yet Jesus had done nothing.
- 37:01He hadn't committed a sin. The only thing he did that they
- 37:05were condemning him for was that he claimed to be the Son of God
- 37:10and or people were saying that he was claiming that.
- 37:13I don't know if he ever really stated that he he was very
- 37:18indirect when he would say that, when he would, when he would
- 37:21question and he would just be silent.
- 37:24And I guess that's because he needed to be killed on the
- 37:28cross. I remember one time where I
- 37:32don't know if it's in a movie or not, but where it was like
- 37:35Pilate was saying, well, aren't you just going to say something
- 37:37for yourself? Speak up.
- 37:38You know, this is don't you realize that I have the power to
- 37:41let you go or and then but I think Jesus says something back
- 37:45to him like you would only have the power just because God gave
- 37:48it to you basically. So, but it's here's the thing.
- 37:53I, I searched about being silent and in the New Testament,
- 38:00Matthew, Mark and Luke all document this.
- 38:04So I will read what they say in Matthew 26 verse 63.
- 38:10But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, I
- 38:15charge you underoath by the living God.
- 38:19Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.
- 38:24I'm going to read what comes after that because I think
- 38:26that's going to be interesting. You have said so, Jesus replied.
- 38:32But I say to all of you, from now on you will see the Son of
- 38:37Man sitting at the right hand of the mighty One and coming on the
- 38:42clouds of heaven. Isn't that interesting?
- 38:45Like Jesus gives gives out prophecy when he's he's like he
- 38:51knew he was going to die. That's why he said this, I
- 38:54imagine because he says from now on he said you have said so.
- 38:58So he's not admitting or denying it.
- 39:01He's just saying, well you said it and then the high priest tore
- 39:05his clothes and said he has spoken blasphemy.
- 39:08Why do we need any more witnesses?
- 39:10Look, now you have heard the blasphemy.
- 39:13What do you think? He is worthy of death, they
- 39:16answered. Then they spit in his face and
- 39:20struck him with their fist. Others slapped him and said
- 39:25Prophecy to us. Messiah who hit you?
- 39:29So there's one commentary that said Jesus may have been
- 39:33blindfolded at that point where they were like, you know, who is
- 39:37it that hit you? Then in Mark chapter 3 verse 4
- 39:43it says then Jesus asked them, which is oh wait, that's not the
- 39:47one. Mark chapter 14 verse 61.
- 39:52But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
- 39:56Again the high priest asked him, are you the Messiah, the Son of
- 40:02the Blessed One? Now here's what Mark 14 verse 62
- 40:08says. I am, said Jesus, and you will
- 40:12see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the mighty One
- 40:16and coming on the clouds of heaven.
- 40:19So it's interesting that Matthew says you have said so, but Mark
- 40:25says that he says I am. And this is interesting about
- 40:30the Gospels because each person writes what they have recalled.
- 40:37And if you've ever listened to people, everybody has their own
- 40:40perspective of what was said. Now, Matthew was one of the
- 40:44disciples and I think Mark was, let's see, Mark was a friend of
- 40:53Peter's who heard everything like second hand.
- 40:57And then Luke was, he was a doctor at the time, and he
- 41:03interviewed a bunch of people in order to put together the gospel
- 41:06that he wrote. So each one of these gospel
- 41:09writers had some level this is like he, you know, Mark had
- 41:14heard it second hand, but Matthew had heard it first hand.
- 41:18So I guess I would lean on what Matthew said that Jesus said,
- 41:22you know, you have said so. And then Luke says this is and
- 41:34now, Nope, that's not the one I was looking for.
- 41:39I was looking up the word silent and and find out where it was.
- 41:46I don't know if Luke has one, but then in Acts chapter 38
- 41:53verse 32, this is the passage of scripture the eunuch was
- 41:57reading. There was a eunuch who is coming
- 42:00from one town to another and he was reading the scripture and
- 42:07then he decided he was going to get baptized when he read it.
- 42:10But here's the scripture that the eunuch was reading.
- 42:12He was led like a sheep to the slaughter and as a lamb before
- 42:16it's sheer is silent. So he did not open his mouth.
- 42:20So this eunuch reads this and he's in his.
- 42:26I'll continue reading. In his humiliation, he was
- 42:29deprived of justice. Who can speak of his
- 42:33descendants? For his life was taken from the
- 42:36earth. The eunuch asked Philip, tell me
- 42:40please, who is the prophet talking about?
- 42:43Himself or someone else? Then Philip began with that very
- 42:48passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
- 42:53So even at back at the in the book of Acts before 90 AD,
- 42:59whenever the book of Acts was written, they all knew this
- 43:04scripture was about Jesus and they were telling people this is
- 43:07about Jesus. So you know, for almost 2000
- 43:12years people have known that Isaiah 53 is about Jesus.
- 43:20As they travelled along the road, they came to some water
- 43:23and the eunuch said, look here is water.
- 43:25What can stand in the way of my being baptized?
- 43:30And he gave orders to stop the chariot.
- 43:32Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and
- 43:36Philip baptized him. When they came out of the water,
- 43:39the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away and the eunuch
- 43:45did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.
- 43:50Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and was and travelled
- 43:55about preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached
- 44:00Caesarea. There's just like a lot of
- 44:03fascinating things that the power of God, you know, if the
- 44:07power of God, did he get transported?
- 44:10I mean, like or what happened? Or was the eunuch just so
- 44:14excited that he didn't see where he went, but then all of a
- 44:20sudden he showed up in another place?
- 44:21Who knows what God can do, but God really can do some amazing
- 44:26things. I mean, just think about Jesus,
- 44:28the power of the Holy Spirit. Well, Jesus's authority, telling
- 44:32the demons to leave people but healing, getting rid of
- 44:36sicknesses in people just by laying his hands on them and
- 44:40telling them, you know, it was all for the glory of God that
- 44:44people were healed so that people would trust in God, would
- 44:49know that what Jesus was saying was true.
- 44:52So let's see how are we like sheep?
- 44:59We go astray. The Bible depicts sheep as
- 45:02helpless and ignorant. They do not keep themselves safe
- 45:06but wander into dangerous situations.
- 45:09So that's why we are He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.
- 45:16John the Baptist hailed Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away
- 45:21the sin of the world in John chapter 129, alluding to the
- 45:28Passover land in Exodus 12 and to this text.
- 45:31Later, Philip was approached by an Ethiopian official who was
- 45:35reading this text from Isaiah. The official wasn't sure whom
- 45:39the passage was describing, but Philip explained that it was
- 45:42about Jesus and we just read about that.
- 45:46So let's see, let's read. I don't know if I I might have
- 45:55these things a little bit out of order, but they're all on the
- 45:59same topic. So here is the the part about
- 46:05John testifying about Jesus. This is John the Baptist
- 46:11testifying now. He's like a cousin of Jesus
- 46:13because his, I think Elizabeth was a cousin to Mary.
- 46:19And when Mary told Elizabeth that she was pregnant also then
- 46:26it said that John the Baptist who is inside of Elizabeth
- 46:31leaped with joy. So there was the spirit that was
- 46:34on him. John the Baptist had a purpose.
- 46:38And so here's what here's what it says.
- 46:41And John, this is a different John that wrote about John the
- 46:45Baptist. The next day, John saw Jesus
- 46:49coming toward him and said, look, the Lamb of God who takes
- 46:54away the sin of the world. Well, wouldn't that kind of like
- 46:57a be a weird thing to hear the Lamb of God?
- 47:00But when you are Jewish or an Israelite, you would know about
- 47:06the Passover lamb who takes away the sin of the world.
- 47:10So John is declaring who Jesus is and he continues, it
- 47:16continues to say in the gospel, this is the one I meant when I
- 47:20said a man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was
- 47:26before me. So Jesus is eternal.
- 47:30John knows that he came after him because Mary went to
- 47:34Elizabeth and told Elizabeth that she was also pregnant and
- 47:39Elizabeth was already pregnant. The gospel then of John says I
- 47:44myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with
- 47:49water was that he might be revealed to Israel.
- 47:55So he's baptizing with water. He's preparing people so that
- 48:02Jesus can be revealed. Then John gave this testimony.
- 48:07I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on
- 48:13him. Remember that he said that?
- 48:16Well, that's a different subject.
- 48:18But anyway, this was also when God spoke to at the same time.
- 48:23So you had the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and the Father all
- 48:28present at the same time, and I myself did not know him.
- 48:33But the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, the
- 48:37man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one
- 48:43who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.
- 48:48I have seen and I testify that this is God's chosen 1.
- 48:54So this is one of the disciples of Jesus who's talking about
- 48:58John the Baptist and saying that John the Baptist said he is
- 49:04God's chosen one. Isaiah 42 one talks about the
- 49:10Son of God. So in in Matthew, Matthew gives
- 49:14his account. Then Jesus came from Galilee to
- 49:18Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him,
- 49:21saying, I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me.
- 49:28Jesus replied, Let it be so. Now it is proper for us to do
- 49:32this, to fulfil all righteousness.
- 49:36Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized,
- 49:41he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was
- 49:45opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and a
- 49:50lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said,
- 49:54This is my son whom I love, and with him I am well pleased.
- 50:02So God himself is telling everyone, Jesus is this is God's
- 50:08Son. At that time Jesus came.
- 50:12And this is for what Mark says in the gospel.
- 50:15At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was
- 50:19baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out
- 50:24of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit
- 50:28descending on him like a dove, and a voice came from heaven.
- 50:33You are my son whom I love with you.
- 50:37I am well pleased. So there's the second
- 50:41documentation, There's a third documentation by Luke.
- 50:46When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized
- 50:50too. And as he was praying, heaven
- 50:53was opened. And I let's see.
- 50:57And the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove,
- 51:02and a voice came from heaven. You are my son, whom I love with
- 51:07you. I am well pleased so lots of
- 51:12testimonies about Jesus and God. Always had multiple witnesses to
- 51:18prove something was true. So then it gets into John
- 51:24talking about the Passover lamb. And if you were Jewish, you
- 51:29would know about the Passover lamb.
- 51:30But like for me, when I first started reading the Bible, I
- 51:33didn't understand this. I, I didn't know, Maybe I heard
- 51:36it, but I didn't understand this before.
- 51:39So I'm going to read Exodus chapter 12 and just go through
- 51:43it because it's it's somewhat important to understand the
- 51:48Passover. So the Lord said this is going
- 51:51way back in time. The Lord said to Moses and Aaron
- 51:55in in Egypt. So the Israelites are slaves in
- 51:59Egypt and God's trying to rescue them via Moses and Aaron.
- 52:05This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of
- 52:09your year. So this is how the the calendar
- 52:13kind of started that in the springtime.
- 52:16This is supposed to be the first month for the Israelites.
- 52:18There's two different calendars. I think 1's a secular calendar
- 52:22and one's a religious calendar. And so they're off by about six
- 52:26months, which is really interesting and makes it
- 52:29confusing when you're trying to interpret scriptures and dates
- 52:33and times and stuff like that. But going back to Exodus, tell
- 52:37the whole community of Israel that on the 10th day of this
- 52:40month, each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for
- 52:44each household. If any household is too small
- 52:47for a whole lamb, they must share with their nearest
- 52:49neighbor. Haven't taken into account the
- 52:51number of people that are there. You are to determine the amount
- 52:54of the lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat.
- 52:57The animals you choose must be year old males without defect.
- 53:02That's important. Without defect.
- 53:04So that's why Jesus is compared to the Lamb of God.
- 53:07He is without sin, without defect.
- 53:11OK, continuing. And you may take them from sheep
- 53:14or the goats, take care of them until the 14th day of the month,
- 53:19when all the members of the community of Israel must
- 53:22slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of
- 53:26the blood and put it on the sides and the tops of the door
- 53:29frames of the houses where they eat the lambs.
- 53:33So they're putting blood on the doorways.
- 53:36It's like this is also symbolic, like Jesus is the way, like
- 53:42that's you go through the door of Jesus like that is, and it's
- 53:47the Passover. Like you'll hear more about it
- 53:51that same night. They are to eat the meat roasted
- 53:54over the fire, along with bitter herbs and bread made without
- 53:57yeast. Do not eat the meat raw or
- 53:59boiled in water, but roasted over fire.
- 54:02Fire with the head, legs, and internal organs.
- 54:04Do not leave any of it till morning.
- 54:06If some of it is left to morning, you must burn it.
- 54:09This is how you were to eat it, with your cloak tucked in your
- 54:12belt, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand.
- 54:15Eat it in haste. It is the Lord's Passover.
- 54:20On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down
- 54:24every first born of both people and animals, and I will bring
- 54:29judgement on all the gods of Egypt.
- 54:32I am the Lord. So this was a protection, like
- 54:37the blood of the Lamb was protection from their first
- 54:40borns being taken, died, you know, dead being killed.
- 54:46And just like Jesus's blood keeps us from being killed
- 54:51eternally separated from God. The blood will be a sign for you
- 54:56on the houses where you live. And when I see the blood, I will
- 55:00Passover you. No destructive plague will touch
- 55:06you when I strike Egypt. So the way these people were
- 55:10apparently killed was by a plague.
- 55:13And look at like God can protect us from plagues.
- 55:18The blood of Jesus protects us in that way.
- 55:22This is the day you are to commemorate for the generations
- 55:26to come. You shall celebrate it as a
- 55:28festival to the Lord, a lasting ordinance.
- 55:32So God wanted people to remember this.
- 55:35Why? Because this was going to.
- 55:37They'd keep doing it over and over, and eventually, someday
- 55:40they will realize this is about Jesus for seven days.
- 55:44I think there's significance when you think about Daniel's
- 55:48final week. For seven days you were to eat
- 55:50bread made without yeast. On the first day, remove the
- 55:53yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast
- 55:57in it from the first day through the 7th must be cut off from
- 56:00Israel. On the first day, hold the
- 56:03sacred assembly and another one on the 17th day.
- 56:07Do no work on these days except to prepare food for everyone to
- 56:11eat. That is all you may they do.
- 56:15Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because it was
- 56:18on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt.
- 56:23Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for generations to
- 56:26come. And then it continues.
- 56:31Furthermore, so I won't read, I'll I'll jump to verse 29.
- 56:37At midnight, the Lord struck down all the first born in
- 56:41Egypt, from the first born of Pharaoh who sat on the throne to
- 56:45the first born of the prisoner who is in the dungeon, and the
- 56:48first born of all the livestock as well.
- 56:52Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up
- 56:55during the night and there was loud wailing in Egypt for there
- 56:58was not a house without someone dead during the night.
- 57:04Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said up leave my people, you
- 57:08and the Israelites go worship the Lord as you requested.
- 57:12So this is how they were able to leave Egypt and come out of
- 57:18slavery because of the death that occurred on all the first
- 57:23born. So it's just like that's how we
- 57:26will be able to leave the mortal life and become immortal by the
- 57:31blood of the Lamb, the blood of Jesus that enables us to do
- 57:36that. And we receive the Holy Spirit
- 57:39that we can be raised from dead or in and alive.
- 57:45I mean, some people when Jesus returns, they will still be
- 57:48living and they will not even experience death.
- 57:50The Scripture tells us that too. So I think I read enough about
- 57:54just the Passover. There's more to it, but I didn't
- 57:57read all of it. But I think people should
- 58:00understand that part of it. And then let's see, we we've
- 58:07read about Philip in the book of Acts and what he did.
- 58:12And then I will continue to read what the study Bible says.
- 58:17Well, I'll go back, I'll finish up chapter 53 from Isaiah, then
- 58:22read the study Bible questions and answers and then anything
- 58:25additional. So for he was cut off from the
- 58:28land of the living for the transgressions of my people.
- 58:32He was punished. That's about Jesus.
- 58:35He was assigned a grave with the wicked and with the rich in his
- 58:40death, though he had not. He had done no violence, nor was
- 58:46any deceit in his mouth, yet it was the Lord's will to crush him
- 58:51and cause him to suffer. And though the Lord makes his
- 58:55life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and
- 59:00prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his
- 59:05hand. After he suffered, he will see
- 59:08the light of life and be satisfied by his knowledge.
- 59:13My righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear
- 59:18their iniquities. Therefore I will give him a
- 59:22portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the
- 59:26strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was
- 59:31numbered with transgressors. For he bore the sin of many and
- 59:35made intercession for the transgressors.
- 59:38That's the end of chapter 53. Now the study Bible says he was
- 59:44led like a lamb to the slaughter.
- 59:46John the Baptist hailed Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away
- 59:49the sin of the world, alluding to the Passover lamb.
- 59:52I've read that already. OK, so we read that he had done
- 59:56no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.
- 59:59When Peter later wrote to suffering Christians, he used
- 1:00:03this verse from Isaiah as an image of righteous suffering.
- 1:00:09And silent endurance and that is found in, let's see, first
- 1:00:17Peter. I actually, I didn't have this
- 1:00:20scripture called up, but I will. I'm going to go to that right
- 1:00:23now. So it's first Peter, chapter 2
- 1:00:31verse 22. It said He had committed no sin
- 1:00:38and no deceit was found in His mouth.
- 1:00:44When they hurled their insults at Him, He did not retaliate.
- 1:00:47When He suffered, He made no threats.
- 1:00:48Instead, He entrusted himself to Him who judges justly.
- 1:00:52He Himself bore our sins in His body, so that we might die to
- 1:00:56sins and live for righteousness. By His wounds you have been
- 1:00:59healed, for you were like sheep going astray, but now you have
- 1:01:02returned to the shepherd and the overseer of the souls.
- 1:01:06I believe I did read that one already.
- 1:01:09What type of offering was this? A guilt offering is the
- 1:01:14sacrificial system of the Israelites.
- 1:01:16A guilt or an offering in which the offender sacrificed a ram
- 1:01:21was made when restitution was required.
- 1:01:26According to Leviticus chapter 5 verses 14 through chapter 6
- 1:01:30verse seven, it was God's intent that the servant become an
- 1:01:36atoning sacrifice for sin. And here's where we will read
- 1:01:41like I'm going to read Hebrews 10 it because verse 4 says it is
- 1:01:47impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away
- 1:01:52sins. So I think to read chapter 10 is
- 1:01:58pretty important, so I'm going to a portion of it at least.
- 1:02:00So beginning at chapter 10, verse one, the law is only a
- 1:02:05shadow of the good things that are coming, not the reality
- 1:02:09themselves. For this reason, it can never,
- 1:02:12by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make
- 1:02:18perfect those who draw near to worship.
- 1:02:22So the high priest, all these sacrifices, none of these things
- 1:02:26make somebody perfect, even though they are worshipping in
- 1:02:31verse 2. Otherwise would they not have
- 1:02:35stopped being offered? So if it ever made somebody
- 1:02:38perfect, they would have all stopped, right?
- 1:02:41For the worshippers would have been cleansed once for all, and
- 1:02:46would no longer have felt guilty for their sins.
- 1:02:49I think that's interesting. So maybe when we know we are
- 1:02:53forgiven for our sins, we no longer feel the guilt of it.
- 1:02:58But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins.
- 1:03:02It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away
- 1:03:06the sins. Therefore, when Christ came into
- 1:03:08the world, he said sacrifice, an offering you did not desire, but
- 1:03:13a body you prepared for me with burnt offerings and sin
- 1:03:17offerings. You were not pleased.
- 1:03:20Then I said, here I am. It is written about me in the
- 1:03:24scroll. I have come to do your will, my
- 1:03:28God. That is from Psalm 40, verse 6
- 1:03:31through 8. First he said, sacrifices and
- 1:03:35offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not
- 1:03:39desire, nor were you pleased with them, though they were
- 1:03:42offered in accordance with the law.
- 1:03:44Then he said, Here I am, I have come to do your will.
- 1:03:48He sets aside the first to establish the second, and by
- 1:03:54that will we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the
- 1:03:59body of Jesus Christ. Once for all, day after day,
- 1:04:06every priest stands and performs his religious duties.
- 1:04:09Again and again he offers the same sacrifices which can never
- 1:04:14take away sins. But when the priest had offered
- 1:04:18for all time 1 sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right
- 1:04:24hand of God. That's Jesus.
- 1:04:26And since that time, he waits for his enemies to be made his
- 1:04:32footstool. For one by one sacrifice he is
- 1:04:37made perfect forever, those who are being made holy.
- 1:04:43So pay attention to that one sacrifice he is made perfect
- 1:04:47forever. Not those who are perfect now,
- 1:04:50but those who are being made holy.
- 1:04:54So that's something, you know, that if when we are born again,
- 1:04:56it's the Holy Spirit that begins to change.
- 1:04:59The desires in our heart makes us holy.
- 1:05:03It's a process. And we won't be perfected until
- 1:05:06Jesus returns, and then we receive immortal bodies.
- 1:05:10The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this.
- 1:05:15First he says, this is the covenant I will make with them.
- 1:05:19After that time, says the Lord, I will put my laws in their
- 1:05:23hearts, and I will write them on their minds.
- 1:05:26Then he adds, their sins and lawless acts I will remember no
- 1:05:30more. And where these have been
- 1:05:32forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
- 1:05:39So that is talking about Jesus and how.
- 1:05:44And then in Hebrews Chapter 9, it's also interesting because
- 1:05:54it's talking about the blood of Christ when we're talking about
- 1:05:57the Passover lamb. So it's this might help
- 1:06:01hopefully, but to explain this, but when Christ came as high
- 1:06:07priest, so remember he as a priest made a sacrifice and then
- 1:06:11he sits down at the the right hand of the Father.
- 1:06:13That's what Jesus he came as high priest of the good things
- 1:06:16that are now already here. He went through the greater and
- 1:06:19more perfect Tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that
- 1:06:24is to say, not a part of this creation.
- 1:06:26So he the veil was torn when Jesus died on the cross, and
- 1:06:31Jesus entered back into the Kingdom of God when he
- 1:06:35resurrected. So he did not enter by means of
- 1:06:39blood and goats and calves, but he entered the most holy place,
- 1:06:44God's, God's current place in heaven once for all by his own
- 1:06:50blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.
- 1:06:55The blood of bulls of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer
- 1:07:00sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean, sanctify
- 1:07:05them so that they are outwardly clean.
- 1:07:10How much more than will the blood of Christ, who through the
- 1:07:14eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our
- 1:07:19consciences from acts that lead to death so that we may serve
- 1:07:25the living God? So think about this.
- 1:07:27The blood of Christ, through the eternal Spirit, Jesus offered
- 1:07:35himself as a sacrifice. He was unblemished.
- 1:07:37He was without sin to God. And he cleanses our conscience
- 1:07:44from acts or sins that lead to death.
- 1:07:48That's what acts that lead to death are sins so that we may
- 1:07:52serve the living God. He removes that from our minds
- 1:07:56so that we may serve. He no longer sees us as that,
- 1:08:00but now we are servants of God. This is, you know, again, where
- 1:08:04you take up your cross. You then serve God as gratitude.
- 1:08:10For this reason, Christ is the mediator of the new covenant,
- 1:08:14where He's the sacrifice and not the animal, that those who are
- 1:08:17called may receive the promised eternal inheritance now that he
- 1:08:23has died as a ransom. So He's the payment to set them
- 1:08:28free from sins they committed under the first covenant.
- 1:08:32So the 10 commandments shows us all the sins we committed, and
- 1:08:37Jesus died as a ransom, as the payment, so that we are set free
- 1:08:44from the sins committed under that.
- 1:08:49In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of
- 1:08:53the one who made it, because a will is in force only when
- 1:08:58somebody has died. It never takes effect while the
- 1:09:02one who has made it is living. This is why even the first
- 1:09:07covenant was not into effect without blood.
- 1:09:12When Moses had proclaimed every command of the law to all the
- 1:09:16people, he took the blood of calves together with water,
- 1:09:18scarlet wool, and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll
- 1:09:22and all the people. He said This is the blood of the
- 1:09:25covenant which God has commanded you to keep the 10 commandments.
- 1:09:31In the same way He sprinkled the blood both the Tabernacle and
- 1:09:34everything used in its ceremonies.
- 1:09:36In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed
- 1:09:41with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no
- 1:09:45forgiveness. It was necessary then for copies
- 1:09:50of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices,
- 1:09:54but the heavenly things themselves with better
- 1:09:57sacrifices than these. For Christ did not enter a
- 1:10:01sanctuary made with human hands. That was only a copy of the true
- 1:10:051. He entered heaven itself now to
- 1:10:09appear for us in God's presence. Nor did he enter heaven to offer
- 1:10:16himself again and again the way the High Priest enters the holy
- 1:10:21place every year, with blood that is not his own.
- 1:10:24Otherwise Christ would have to had had suffered many times
- 1:10:28since the creation of the world. But He has appeared once for all
- 1:10:34at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the
- 1:10:38sacrifice of Himself. Just as people are destined to
- 1:10:43die once and after that to face judgement.
- 1:10:46That's something else to know that you know, we are in a race
- 1:10:50against time. When we die, we face judgement.
- 1:10:54There is no purgatory. Just as people are destined to
- 1:10:57die once and after that to face judgement, so Christ was
- 1:11:02sacrificed once to take away the sins of many and he will appear
- 1:11:07a second time. So this is talking about Jesus
- 1:11:11coming again not to bear sin but to bring salvation to those who
- 1:11:19are waiting for Him. So when he comes again it is to
- 1:11:25bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
- 1:11:29That kind of supports the pre wrath opinion about what happens
- 1:11:36when Jesus returns. He, those who are prepared and
- 1:11:40are waiting for him, those who have been born again, Jesus is
- 1:11:45going to gather and take with him so that they do not
- 1:11:49experience wrath. That's something.
- 1:11:55And then in first John chapter 2 and also chapter 4, there's a
- 1:12:00couple of verses. He is the atoning sacrifice for
- 1:12:04our sins, and not only for ours, but also for the sins of the
- 1:12:09whole world. And then in 1 John chapter 4,
- 1:12:14this is love. Not that we love God, but that
- 1:12:18He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our
- 1:12:24sins. Hopefully the sacrifice for sins
- 1:12:29is sinking in. In Romans chapter 3 verse 25,
- 1:12:33God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement through
- 1:12:39the shedding of His blood to be received by faith.
- 1:12:43He did this to demonstrate His righteousness because in His
- 1:12:47forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished.
- 1:12:54There will be eventual an eventual time where those sins
- 1:12:57will be punished. But God is patient and merciful
- 1:13:02and he's, he's wanting the opportunity for everyone to be
- 1:13:07able to turn to him before that day that Christ returns.
- 1:13:15So for this reason, he had to be made like them.
- 1:13:20This is Jesus being made like them, fully human in every way,
- 1:13:25in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high
- 1:13:29priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for
- 1:13:35the sins of the people. It's a life for a life, right?
- 1:13:42Let's see. I think that's and then let's
- 1:13:45see in Romans, in Romans chapter 8.
- 1:13:49Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are
- 1:13:55in Christ Jesus. It's important to know what in
- 1:13:59Christ Jesus means because through Christ Jesus, the law of
- 1:14:05the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin
- 1:14:12and death. So there is a law that says if
- 1:14:16we sin, we have death, but the Spirit gives us life and sets us
- 1:14:22free. We need to receive the Spirit.
- 1:14:24Just like Jesus said, you must be born again, you must receive
- 1:14:27the Spirit first. There's repentance.
- 1:14:29John gave baptism for the repentance of sin.
- 1:14:35Jesus gave a baptism of the Holy Spirit.
- 1:14:39So this also solidifies how Jesus is the way, the truth and
- 1:14:43the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him.
- 1:14:47We have to go through Jesus or we don't receive the Holy Spirit
- 1:14:53for what the Law was powerless to do.
- 1:14:56And because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending
- 1:15:00His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin
- 1:15:04offering, and so he condemned sin in the flesh.
- 1:15:10God is being legalistic by having Jesus die on the cross in
- 1:15:16order that the righteous requirement of the law might be
- 1:15:20fully met in US. God doesn't bend the rules of
- 1:15:24the law. He follows the law who do not
- 1:15:26live according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
- 1:15:30OK, this is really important in order that the righteous
- 1:15:33requirement of the law might be fully met in US.
- 1:15:36So there's a righteous requirement in the law to be
- 1:15:40fully met in US who do not live according to the flesh, but
- 1:15:46according to the Spirit. So if we're living to the flesh,
- 1:15:51it it says who? Those who do not live according
- 1:15:54to the vesh, but according to the Spirit.
- 1:15:56Again, like Jesus said, we have to be born of the Spirit If we
- 1:15:59are living like according to the Spirit, there is going to be a
- 1:16:04difference from living according to the flesh.
- 1:16:07If you have any confusion about that, what that is, go to
- 1:16:10Galatians chapter 5 and read. There's a paragraph about those
- 1:16:14who live according to the world or to the flesh.
- 1:16:17There's a paragraph about those who live by the Spirit and talks
- 1:16:21about there's no condemnation for those who live by the
- 1:16:23Spirit. So that's something really
- 1:16:26important for every person because a lot of people call
- 1:16:29themselves Christians, but it's something for us to look at for
- 1:16:34ourselves. Are we living according to the
- 1:16:36flesh? Are we living according to the
- 1:16:37Spirit? God will give us the power.
- 1:16:40God will give us the Holy Spirit when we sincerely want it, But
- 1:16:43we have to desire that. Those who live according to the
- 1:16:48flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires, but
- 1:16:54those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds
- 1:16:57set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh
- 1:17:02is death. So anybody who just says with
- 1:17:07their mouth that they're a Christian but lives according to
- 1:17:10the flesh, right here in Romans, it says the mind governed by the
- 1:17:15flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life
- 1:17:22and peace. The mind governed by the flesh
- 1:17:27is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law,
- 1:17:32nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of
- 1:17:37the flesh cannot please God. You who have however, are not in
- 1:17:45the realm of flesh, but are in the realm of the Spirit, if
- 1:17:50indeed the Spirit of God lives in you.
- 1:17:54And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not
- 1:17:59belong to Christ. Remember that Jesus and the 10
- 1:18:03virgins like he says, depart from me.
- 1:18:05I never knew you, but these people thought they had
- 1:18:08prepared, but they didn't have oil.
- 1:18:11Oil is anointing like anointing of the Holy Spirit.
- 1:18:15Jesus is giving warning. If we don't have the anointing
- 1:18:19of the Holy Spirit, it will be turned away when Jesus comes to
- 1:18:23rescue his people. But if Christ is in you, then
- 1:18:28even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the
- 1:18:32Spirit gives life because of righteousness.
- 1:18:36And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is
- 1:18:40living in you. I thought this was important
- 1:18:43when I first read it. The Holy Spirit is how Jesus
- 1:18:46raised from the dead and if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus
- 1:18:52from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the
- 1:18:57dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his
- 1:19:04Spirit who lives in you. Remember Jesus said you must be
- 1:19:09born again. We have to have the Holy Spirit.
- 1:19:13Hopefully this is emphasizing you this to people.
- 1:19:17Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation.
- 1:19:21But it is not to the flesh to live according, but it is not to
- 1:19:27the flesh to live according to it.
- 1:19:29For if you live according to the flesh, you will die.
- 1:19:36For if you live according to the flesh, you will die.
- 1:19:39But if by the Spirit you again, remember this by the Spirit, but
- 1:19:46if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body,
- 1:19:51you will live. So it's, it's us relying on God,
- 1:19:56it's us being like stating that out loud.
- 1:20:00Like God, I want your will to be done in my life and letting God
- 1:20:06send his Holy Spirit. Then we will live, then we will
- 1:20:09have eternal life, then we won't be turned away from Jesus.
- 1:20:12This is how we can know before we die where we are going to be,
- 1:20:16because it is a choice that we make.
- 1:20:19And when we might want sin, all we have to do is pray to God
- 1:20:24when the temptation is strong, that God help us in that moment.
- 1:20:29Dear Jesus, help me, you know in that moment.
- 1:20:33And it says that God always gives us a way out and the Holy
- 1:20:37Spirit strengthens us and gives us courage.
- 1:20:40So we overcome sin by the power of Jesus.
- 1:20:44We don't stay in our sin. Going back to what Paul said in
- 1:20:49Romans chapter 8, for those who are led by the Spirit of God are
- 1:20:53called the children of God. So we are the children of God.
- 1:20:58Now listen to this. The Spirit you received does not
- 1:21:01make you slaves so that you live in fear again.
- 1:21:06Rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to
- 1:21:12sonship. And by him we cry, ABBA Father.
- 1:21:18So God is our Father. The Spirit himself testifies
- 1:21:23with our spirit that we are God's children.
- 1:21:28Now. If we are children, then we are
- 1:21:31heirs, prayers of God and Co heirs with Christ if if indeed
- 1:21:37we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in
- 1:21:43his glory. So pick up your own cross.
- 1:21:46That's what it says. If you're going to follow Jesus,
- 1:21:49you have to pick up your own cross.
- 1:21:53I don't know if I should. There's a whole bunch more that
- 1:21:57talks about us being conquerors in chapter 8, Romans chapter 8.
- 1:22:01You might want to read it if you're not really familiar with
- 1:22:03it and just ponder and meditate on it and pray to God about it
- 1:22:06because it's so important for us to receive the Holy Spirit.
- 1:22:15Let's see in Second Corinthians chapter 5, verse one.
- 1:22:22For we know that if the earthly tent we lived in we live in is
- 1:22:26destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in
- 1:22:30heaven, not built by human hands.
- 1:22:32Meanwhile, we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our
- 1:22:37heavenly dwelling. Because we are clothed, we will
- 1:22:40not be found naked. For while we were in this tent
- 1:22:43we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be
- 1:22:47unclothed, but to be clothed instead with our heavenly
- 1:22:50dwelling, so that what is mortal may swallow up, may be swallowed
- 1:22:55up by life. Now the one who has fashioned us
- 1:22:58for the very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a
- 1:23:04deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
- 1:23:07Therefore, we are always confident and know that as long
- 1:23:11as we as long as we are at home in the body, we are.
- 1:23:16As long as we are at home in the body, we are away from the Lord,
- 1:23:22for we live by faith, not by sight.
- 1:23:27We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the
- 1:23:30body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please
- 1:23:35Him whether we are at home in the body or away from it.
- 1:23:40For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so
- 1:23:45that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done
- 1:23:51while in the body, whether good or bad.
- 1:23:56I think this is important, the ministry of reconciliation,
- 1:23:59because this is really important.
- 1:24:02And since then we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to
- 1:24:06persuade others. What we are is plain to God, and
- 1:24:12I hope it is also plain to your conscience.
- 1:24:15We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are
- 1:24:19giving you an opportunity to take pride in us so that you can
- 1:24:22answer those who take pride in what they have seen rather than
- 1:24:26in what is in their heart. If we are out of our mind, as
- 1:24:29some say it is for God, if we are in our right mind, it's for
- 1:24:33you. For Christ's love compels us,
- 1:24:37because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore
- 1:24:42all died, and he died for all, that those who live should no
- 1:24:47longer live for themselves, but for him who died for them and
- 1:24:53was raised up again. So he died for all, and those
- 1:24:57who live no longer live for themselves.
- 1:25:01We're no longer being selfish, but we live for him who died for
- 1:25:05us and was raised up. So from now on regard no one
- 1:25:10from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ
- 1:25:14in this way, we do so no longer. So before we actually our eyes
- 1:25:21are opened, we see Christ from a worldly perspective, but then
- 1:25:25when we really get to know what this is all about, we see Him
- 1:25:28differently. Therefore, if anyone is in
- 1:25:31Christ, the new creation has come, the old has gone, and the
- 1:25:36new is here again. We are changed, we are born
- 1:25:39again, we become, we live by the Spirit.
- 1:25:41We don't live according to the flesh anymore.
- 1:25:44All this is all this is from God who reconciled us to himself
- 1:25:50through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, that
- 1:25:54God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting
- 1:25:58people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the
- 1:26:01message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's
- 1:26:05ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
- 1:26:08We implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
- 1:26:14God made him who had no sin for us, so that in him we might
- 1:26:21become the righteousness of God. This implies a change.
- 1:26:26I mean, I'm commenting this implies a change in him.
- 1:26:30We might become the righteousness of God Jesus to
- 1:26:35bore our sin. He bore the wrath of God, the
- 1:26:39punishment that we would have received and would have been
- 1:26:43eternally separated from God if Jesus had not died on the cross.
- 1:26:48So that if we are in Him, then we become the righteousness of
- 1:26:53God. God says be holy because I am
- 1:26:55holy. A lot of people forget that
- 1:26:57today. And then in first John chapter 2
- 1:27:01it says He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins and not
- 1:27:05only for ours but also the sins of the whole world.
- 1:27:09So this applies to every single living human being that God
- 1:27:12created. And in first John chapter 4
- 1:27:16verse 10, he says this is love, not that we loved God, but that
- 1:27:20he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our
- 1:27:25sins. And then let's see this is a
- 1:27:33little bit more about Jesus in your relationships with one
- 1:27:36another have the same mindset as Christ Jesus, who being in very
- 1:27:41nature God. So Jesus was very Nate by his
- 1:27:46nature God because he's the son of God did not consider equality
- 1:27:51with God something to be used to his own advantage.
- 1:27:55So he rather he made himself nothing by taking the very
- 1:28:01nature of a servant being made in human likeness.
- 1:28:06So he was fully God, fully man, and being found in appearance as
- 1:28:11a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even
- 1:28:17death on a cross. Therefore God exalted him to the
- 1:28:22highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
- 1:28:27that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on
- 1:28:34earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledged that
- 1:28:39Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
- 1:28:46Lord is Jesus Lord over our lives?
- 1:28:51Does he tell us what to do and do we obey him?
- 1:28:54That's what it means. Is he Lord over your life?
- 1:28:57Are you doing what Jesus said? If you are, then he is Lord over
- 1:29:01your life. If you're not, you're rebelling.
- 1:29:03And it said in the prior chapters that I was reading that
- 1:29:07just says death all over it. So, and here this is probably
- 1:29:13like a closing part, but I'm going to read a few more
- 1:29:15questions and answers from the study Bible too.
- 1:29:17But Christ crucified is God's power and wisdom.
- 1:29:23For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are
- 1:29:26perishing. Think about all the people that
- 1:29:28mock and the people who deny that Jesus is the Son of God.
- 1:29:32It's saying right here, the message of the cross is
- 1:29:34foolishness to those who are perishing.
- 1:29:39So if you're mocking it, that means you are perishing.
- 1:29:42But to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.
- 1:29:47For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
- 1:29:52the intelligent of the intelligent.
- 1:29:54I will frustrate. So this, if you're trying to get
- 1:29:57logic to make sense of this, it's going to frustrate you.
- 1:30:02You have to come at through faith, and it says by faith we
- 1:30:06are saved. Where is the wise person?
- 1:30:09Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this
- 1:30:12age? Has not God made foolish the
- 1:30:16wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God
- 1:30:21the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased
- 1:30:26through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who
- 1:30:30believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks
- 1:30:34look for wisdom, but we believe Christ crucified.
- 1:30:39A stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.
- 1:30:44But to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks,
- 1:30:51Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God.
- 1:30:55For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the
- 1:31:00weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
- 1:31:05Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were
- 1:31:10called. Not many of you were wise by
- 1:31:13human standards. Not many were influential, not
- 1:31:17many were of noble birth, But God chose the foolish things of
- 1:31:23the world to shame the wise. God chose the weak things of the
- 1:31:29world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of
- 1:31:35the world, of this world, and the despised things and the
- 1:31:40things that are not to nullify the things that are, so that no
- 1:31:45one may boast before him. It is because of Him that you
- 1:31:50are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God,
- 1:31:56that is our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
- 1:32:00Therefore, as it is written, let the one who boast, boast in the
- 1:32:04Lord. So even you know when Jesus
- 1:32:08came, he you know what is good that came from Nazareth was one
- 1:32:12of the first followers comments about where Jesus came from.
- 1:32:16Jesus even took a lowly position.
- 1:32:19He's the Son of God. He has authority over all the
- 1:32:21entire earth, but he allowed people to mock him, to spit in
- 1:32:26his face, to crucify him. Talk about humbleness that Jesus
- 1:32:31did and he did everything according to the Father's will.
- 1:32:34He only spoke with the Father, you know, according to what the
- 1:32:39Father said, He only speaks what he hears from the Father.
- 1:32:41So Jesus did like an amazing thing for us and we really need
- 1:32:47to understand what He did. There's a few more questions
- 1:32:52than the answers that I will read.
- 1:32:54What type of offering was this? Well, I think I read that how
- 1:32:59would God reward his suffering servant?
- 1:33:01Though the servant Messiah would die in disgrace, great honor
- 1:33:06awaited him. By raising him from the dead,
- 1:33:09God would prolong his days and enable him to see the light of
- 1:33:13life. God would reward his servant as
- 1:33:16if he were conquering. Were a conquering king sharing
- 1:33:19in the spoils of a great victory?
- 1:33:24And then why did God 'cause his servant to suffer?
- 1:33:27Isaiah is emphasizing the Lord's will, God's purpose.
- 1:33:30Something great was going to happen.
- 1:33:32Cyrus would make it happen, and the servant would make it
- 1:33:35happen. But it would happen because God
- 1:33:37willed it though Isaiah. Isaiah chapters 40 through 66
- 1:33:43was clearly written for the sake of the Jews in Babylon.
- 1:33:46Captivity. The entire world is part of this
- 1:33:49drama too. In one sense or another, all
- 1:33:52humanity is in captivity. Captivity Ascent.
- 1:33:56It is God's purpose to set us free.
- 1:33:58The whole Bible is a phenomenal love story.
- 1:34:01God created people. People turned away.
- 1:34:04God wooed people back. Israel is a microcosm of
- 1:34:08humanity. God played the love scene again
- 1:34:12and again through Moses, David, Elijah, Hosea, Isaiah, and
- 1:34:18others. But too often his love went
- 1:34:21unrequited. The sin of rejecting divine love
- 1:34:26required sacrifice, and God decided to make the sacrifice
- 1:34:30himself. He sent his innocent servant to
- 1:34:35bear the weight of the world's sin.
- 1:34:38This cleared the way for a new relationship between God and the
- 1:34:43people he loved so much. It might seem gruesome on the
- 1:34:47face of it, even unjust and bloodthirsty, but it was God's
- 1:34:52purpose and it was necessary as a payment for sin.
- 1:34:57The suffering of God's servant was the key to God's plan.
- 1:35:02God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting
- 1:35:09people's sins against them. It's so important for us to know
- 1:35:14why Jesus's death on the cross is so significant to all of us.
- 1:35:20Hopefully it's clear to everyone now.
- 1:35:23And if it's not clear to anybody that you know, but this made it
- 1:35:29clear to you, please forward this to somebody else who is
- 1:35:33struggling with this because we all need to know about this
- 1:35:36because we all need to report and turn to God and ask for the
- 1:35:41Holy Spirit. Ask Jesus for the Holy Spirit to
- 1:35:45start changing her life and getting us ready to meet Him.
