- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take, where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts. Right now.
- 0:15Welcome back to the three O take presented by Sea Kick.
- 0:17This episode 516. I'll be your host Kyle Corn.
- 0:20I'm here with my Co host Nate Reyes.
- 0:24Nate. Howdy ho, howdy ho hitting you
- 0:28guys early for this weekend pod. That's what I I think we could
- 0:34just call it a weekend pod. Look at all the people in the
- 0:37chat. Look at all these slackers.
- 0:39Well, these slackers that are just quote UN quote working.
- 0:43Should be working, Yeah. I mean, what does that say about
- 0:45us? It's a good move.
- 0:46You throw 1 Airpod in, put on the live, sit at the desk.
- 0:53Maybe you're on a drive? Well, no, no, no, we're not
- 0:57encouraging watching a live while while driving.
- 0:59We're we're just not going to do that.
- 1:02I. Will I'm not I'm officially
- 1:06going on record. The official stance, the
- 1:09official position of this podcast is that we do not
- 1:12encourage consuming. Where's?
- 1:14My boobie show, we do not. We do not.
- 1:23I got to change those. I don't like these.
- 1:26I don't like these buttons. No, that's the consensus.
- 1:33We do not condone consuming this podcast while driving a
- 1:37motorized vehicle. With that said, Nate, visually,
- 1:42yes. Yes, visually.
- 1:44See. Let's talk some rivalries.
- 1:48Yay. Let's talk some rivalries.
- 1:51You know why? Because there's nothing going
- 1:56on. And even more so on top of that,
- 1:59flipped on, flipped on the MLB app, can't even really watch any
- 2:03ball right now. I mean, I've got I've got the
- 2:05A's and Cubs pulled up. And I'm not going to go into the
- 2:08rant that I went into last episode, but I've got the Angels
- 2:10and Cubs pulled up. It's pretty much the only game
- 2:13that has a broadcast today that I'm seeing maybe a couple later.
- 2:16But yeah, we're just kind of in baseball jail right now, which
- 2:19is fine. We we have ways of of making it
- 2:23work Even so. So we're going to talk about
- 2:27sort of an idea that that came to me.
- 2:30We're going to talk about the forecast of rivalries for this
- 2:33season because I think something that you and I have talked
- 2:36about. Yeah, shout out Laura in the
- 2:39chat. See, Laura says she's listening
- 2:42to the Dodgers Rockies game right now.
- 2:44That's a that's a true, that's a true baseball fan.
- 2:47Right there, this is what really like, what are we doing?
- 2:51It's Thursday. Like why?
- 2:52Why is there? Why can't we watch any?
- 2:55Games listening to a spring training game that is
- 2:59dedication. Shout out, shout out, Laura no,
- 3:03but what I was getting to and I'll put up the little like and
- 3:06subscribe reminder here for those coming into the chat, hit
- 3:08the like button, hit the subscribe button.
- 3:11You and I have have sort of touched on this over the last
- 3:14handful of years where there's a shift in landscape with with a
- 3:19lot of these rivalries. Some some are, let's just call
- 3:22it like it is. Some are are dying, falling by
- 3:25the wayside. Are are no longer maintaining
- 3:31rival true rivalry status. On the flip side, you've got
- 3:35some new ones that are have that have been blossoming, that have
- 3:38been sort of filling the void of those other ones that we we love
- 3:41to talk about so much, but are are are no longer.
- 3:44So I figured let's look ahead to this season.
- 3:49See what we've got down the pipe with with some of these matchups
- 3:54and maybe we could even do a little bit of a joint ranking at
- 3:59the end of the segment to maybe rank which ones we think are
- 4:03going to be the most heated per the title.
- 4:06What do you say about that? I say, can we?
- 4:13Should we like redefine can, can we put out a definition for
- 4:20rivalry? Because I, I think this is this,
- 4:23it's a broad spectrum in most people's eyes.
- 4:27And, and I don't know, because like if we're going to break it
- 4:31up in percentages, like when we were growing up, the, the
- 4:36tradition of rivalries covered like 50% of the prerequisites.
- 4:43Right now, I feel like tradition, maybe 25%, maybe less
- 4:55covers the requirement to fall into a rivalry.
- 5:04I don't know, man. Like it that we'll, we'll get
- 5:07into it. There's some that are just very
- 5:08dead that. Sorry, my Internet cut out, but
- 5:12I, I gathered what you were saying.
- 5:16I think, well, I mean, you've got your you've got your
- 5:18standard list of ones that we can, and you may have said this
- 5:21when you cut out. So forgive me if I'm repeating
- 5:23what you said, but you've got, you've got sort of your standard
- 5:25list that the, the ones that people think about Red Sox,
- 5:28Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, Cubs, Cardinals and, and, and more and
- 5:35more as you get on the list. But like I said, the, the
- 5:37landscape is shifting and I think it's worth talking about,
- 5:40especially you got new names and new places, new faces and new
- 5:44places, if, if you will. And it's, it's creating a shift
- 5:50in where I think the attention is, is being given when it comes
- 5:55to these rivalries. And I think some people are need
- 5:58to brace themselves if they're a fan of a certain team and
- 6:01understanding that, like the rivalry that you make covet,
- 6:04which you can still do. Like we're not saying, well,
- 6:06just don't care about this match up anymore, but just understand
- 6:09from like a national point of view that it that it's becoming
- 6:13less and less important. And I, I think we may have some,
- 6:17some hearts to break later as we, we dive into this a little
- 6:22bit. But you know, do not worry
- 6:26because like I said, there's some, there's some new matchups
- 6:29that I think are becoming more and more exciting and that I
- 6:31think will give us quite the source of entertainment, not
- 6:37just this season, but but hopefully moving forward.
- 6:39So let's get into it. Let's start with the one that
- 6:43you and I are most familiar with and that would be the Red Sox
- 6:48and Yankees. And and by us going down this
- 6:53list that Nate and I have constructed, this does not
- 6:55necessarily mean again, we sort of just went on and on about it.
- 7:01These are not all rivalries that we think are going to live up to
- 7:05the hype this year. We may, we're just addressing
- 7:08some pre-existing rivalries and we're going to talk about maybe
- 7:11some new blossoming ones. But we're going to sort of give
- 7:14our take as to where we think these rivalries are headed in,
- 7:19in terms of their trajectory. So let, as I said, let's start
- 7:22with the Red Sox and Yankees. I'll start by saying, and you
- 7:29can back me up on this, I think for the last, call it two to
- 7:34three years that this rivalry has been on life support.
- 7:40Yeah. Would you?
- 7:42Agree with that bringing it lightly.
- 7:43Well, that's what I was going to say.
- 7:45Is that like when tradition, if we're talking about what makes
- 7:50up and defines rivalry and whatever percentage you want to
- 7:53associate with tradition, I think it's the understanding
- 7:58that all rivalries go dormant for chapters.
- 8:04It's the length of that chapter that I think allows you to lean
- 8:10on that tradition or not. This is obviously a top tier
- 8:15rivalry and not just baseball but all of sports, so we can
- 8:19fall back on this and allow a few years for it to go dormant
- 8:23when one or the other team isn't necessarily competitive and
- 8:29maybe the juices aren't flying as much.
- 8:38With that said, and I agree, I, I think I'm, I'm turning the
- 8:42corner. I think we're getting we're
- 8:45there now. I won't even say we're getting
- 8:47back to where it was. I think there's potential for it
- 8:51to head back in the right direction.
- 8:53If you're a fan of either of those teams or if you're just a
- 8:56general baseball fan that likes a good rivalry, got good news
- 9:01for you. I think this one has a chance to
- 9:04to be revived because I think you've got a lot of you've got a
- 9:09lot of young talent in the waiting in the wings and some of
- 9:13some of which has already arrived, that if those names are
- 9:18handled properly, I think you have a chance for these guys to
- 9:23be around a long time. And that's what we talk about
- 9:24all the time. Specifically with this rivalry.
- 9:27You need guys that just aren't bopping in for a year and, and
- 9:31hitting, hitting the road like you.
- 9:33You need you need guys that have enough time with those
- 9:39respective clubs to learn to just dislike each other.
- 9:43And I'm not going to sit here and and condone just hating
- 9:45people for hating people, but I mean, come on, it's baseball.
- 9:48We love. We love a little bit of we love
- 9:49some some bad blood every now and then.
- 9:53And with the, with the names that are coming up with, with
- 9:56Boston and, and now that the Yankees have offloaded Sodo, we
- 10:04were talking about before we hopped on little bit of a of a,
- 10:08or I should say more of a level playing field.
- 10:11They're, they're sort of they're going to be fighting for their
- 10:13own. They're going to be scrapping
- 10:16and clawing for the top of that division.
- 10:19Because like we talked about itself for grabs.
- 10:21I think at this point, and I think this has, would we say,
- 10:26would we say this 2025 is a little early or would we say
- 10:30that this season has a chance for the seeds to be planted?
- 10:34No, I, I, I think the seeds are, are able to be planted.
- 10:40I, I think 2025 feels right. I, I think what makes this, what
- 10:48makes this so good is that like there's, there's a little
- 10:53cocktail of like, hope, I would say one side more than the other
- 11:02progression this offseason. And then also like X Factor's
- 11:07slash question marks, like, hey, you know, we're not too sure,
- 11:12right? Like when you talk about some of
- 11:15the additions that the Red Sox have made, like great on paper,
- 11:22but still like, I don't like, how is Lucas Giolito going to
- 11:25come back from injury, right? Like how does he slot in?
- 11:29How how is how much are they going to lean on crochet being a
- 11:36full time starter for just his second year And like not having
- 11:39an innings limit? Like, you know, you go to the
- 11:42Yankees side of things like is Goldie and Belly, you know, like
- 11:47to those additions, their mindset shift away from like,
- 11:50all right, let's try to get guys that play these actual positions
- 11:53can can be better defensively and can maybe be a little more
- 11:57athletic. Does that make up for the loss
- 12:00of a big bat like Soto? So like, there's like, there's
- 12:03so much that each team has shifted as far as mentality
- 12:07goes, as far as roster configuration goes.
- 12:10And then there's also the spark of you got your dudes mixed in
- 12:16and, like, the Red Sox now have a lot of dudes.
- 12:19And then you have your young guys that are like, OK, like,
- 12:23was last year real? You know what I mean?
- 12:25Is, is that Will, you're a brave cat.
- 12:28Real is Jaron Duran capable of being an MVP conversation?
- 12:33Does he back what he did last year?
- 12:36Right? Like, so you have some of these
- 12:38names you're like, there's a lot here there's a lot here to
- 12:41unpack and I think it could be a really I, I mean, we're not
- 12:47going to get too deep into the weeds here with like predictions
- 12:49or anything, but I for me, those are the top 2 favorites in the
- 12:55division. I think that's what the
- 12:57consensus says. So yeah, I'd say it's back.
- 13:03And it also helps you have some of these young guys that like,
- 13:06grew up, like with our ERA, almost obviously younger, but
- 13:09like, grew up kind of seeing this rivalry, right?
- 13:12And, you know, just like Volpe is grew up a Yankees fan.
- 13:16And so obviously he's like, this is the rivalry.
- 13:19So maybe this is his first year experiencing.
- 13:22OK, now the Red Sox are for real for me being in the league.
- 13:25And does that add some spark, right?
- 13:28Like, you know, you got a hated Bregman that Yankees and Yankees
- 13:32fans can't stand. Now he's playing for the enemy,
- 13:35the true enemy. So, like, there's a lot to this.
- 13:38There's a lot to this. I think this is going to be, I
- 13:41think we're back. I think you and I are going to
- 13:43get back to the way because it's been a little a little flat in
- 13:48that category. If you could, if the Red Sox
- 13:51could extend Garrett Crochet I the two names that come to mind
- 13:56for me that I think could really lead the charge in like the bad
- 13:58blood department if you will, Garrett Crochet and Jaron Duran.
- 14:04Jaron Duran 100% Jaron Duran 'cause.
- 14:08I mean, Garrett Crochet has got a little more.
- 14:09Scared of him than anyone else on that roster.
- 14:12Right from a positional player perspective, yes, but I feel
- 14:16like Garrett Crochet's got a little bit of that F you to him
- 14:18too. And if you if you can lock him
- 14:20down for beyond what he's currently scheduled to be there
- 14:24for and actually make him a part of this, those are two names
- 14:28that I think could play a huge. Hole like heavy lefty line up
- 14:32right now. So like, yeah, that's that's,
- 14:36that's a part of the equation for sure.
- 14:40Let's let's keep it with the Yankees, but let's let's go
- 14:43little little inner league here. Yankees, Mets.
- 14:47I'll I'll let you kind of dive into this one.
- 14:50As we mentioned, the aforementioned Soto heading
- 14:53across town and like we talked about it, it's in terms of game
- 14:58played, it's going to be rather limited.
- 14:59So it it's not a matter of on field, like the product that
- 15:07you're going to get on field, but it's more about, I think
- 15:09storylines, more narrative, more fighting for a city.
- 15:15How does, how does this rivalry shake out in 2025?
- 15:18I think. It's going to be pretty good and
- 15:21it's I it may be carried more so by the fans than the teams just
- 15:26for like the lack of opportunities playing each
- 15:29other. But yeah, I think it's going to
- 15:31be spicy. I think there was something to
- 15:37that Aaron Judge quote, where he was like, I'm not surprised he
- 15:40went there when he was talking about Soto going to the Mets.
- 15:45I think there was a little something in during the
- 15:48negotiations during the offseason where, you know, Soto
- 15:51hadn't talked to any of his former teammates.
- 15:55He changed his number. The obvious comparisons of what
- 16:00the Mets were willing to do to sign him versus what the Yankees
- 16:02weren't willing to do. And it wasn't just wasn't just
- 16:05overall salary number, right? It was like talking about the
- 16:09sweet, talking about the shopping spree for the family.
- 16:12Like those types of things are going to help kind of fuel this
- 16:17fire a little bit. But I think mostly it's about
- 16:21the Mets fans finally, not just having like false confidence or
- 16:29manufactured confidence. I think they can have true
- 16:32confidence in this team for the first time in a while.
- 16:36And I think that's what's going to there's, I mean, there's New
- 16:40Yorkers already don't lack confidence.
- 16:43But when you add some success into the mix and then add a
- 16:47really good offseason into the mix, it's good.
- 16:49But I for me, like, I'm not trying to sound like a Homer
- 16:54here. I, I, I just don't see how the
- 17:00Mets did enough in the pitching category and especially going
- 17:05into the season with some injuries.
- 17:06Like I, I think that's a very big hole.
- 17:10And I'm sure they're going to plug it at some point.
- 17:14I'm sure they're going to be early to fill that role that
- 17:17that hole a little bit with some moves, But that's something to
- 17:20watch for. We already talked about all the,
- 17:23you know, kind of wild cards with Yankees and differences
- 17:26this season versus the last, but.
- 17:29How much or how little do you think Soto's going to lean into
- 17:32the questions that you you can already assume that he's going
- 17:35to be getting about this? Do you think that, do you think
- 17:38after haven't watched Soto for a year in New York, do you think
- 17:41he's going to sort of not in like a cowardly way, but do you
- 17:44think he's going to shy away from the questions about, you
- 17:49know, being across town from his former team?
- 17:52Or do you think he's going to kind of he's going to kind of
- 17:56give it back to him a little bit?
- 17:57He's going to lean into it? Do you which which, if you had
- 17:59to bet which, which angle do you think he's leaning more towards
- 18:02this year? Give it one year and then he
- 18:08will really lean into it. He's going to be there for a
- 18:10long time. So I, I don't think there's any
- 18:13need to like rush into it. I think it's when Judge starts
- 18:19creeping into 353637 years old and he's starting to fade and
- 18:26they're like Soto can officially be the star of New York and and
- 18:32arguably sports in like New York sports in general.
- 18:37Yeah, I I think that'll get louder as the time goes.
- 18:40I feel like this first year, it depends on the matchup, depends
- 18:44on how they play each other. You know, I don't think he's
- 18:47going to lead into it too much. I think it's still like the, you
- 18:50know, I was grateful for my time over there.
- 18:52Fans treated me great, great teammates.
- 18:55The copy and paste answers you get.
- 18:57Not trying to ruffle too many feathers right right off the
- 18:59top. And then as things get spicier,
- 19:02he's going to, he's going to obviously show his alliance
- 19:06being heavier to the to the Mets.
- 19:08That's my guess anyway. We'll see.
- 19:10Speaking of the Mets, Mets Braves, now this is an
- 19:14interesting one because I, I think as you and I have have
- 19:19sort of discussed, I, I think, well, I, I know based on what
- 19:26we're hearing, a lot of people are forgetting about the Braves
- 19:30heading into this new season. It's weird, right?
- 19:34Rightfully so. The Mets dominated the the
- 19:37airwaves this offseason, understandably so.
- 19:42But a strong Braves team is going to have a very A strong
- 19:48healthy Braves team is going to have a very solid case for
- 19:52winning that division. Like you're you're event, you're
- 19:57eventually going to have Acuna back.
- 19:58You're going to have Strider back.
- 20:00You're going to have Sale coming off of Cy Young season.
- 20:03Like, yeah, it's I understand it's a Soto show in Queens, but
- 20:10like we talked about, this isn't basketball.
- 20:12You're going to need a little bit more than than a star or
- 20:14two. And I think again, once you get
- 20:17everybody, everybody back fully healthy, this Braves team I
- 20:20think is going to have a lot to say.
- 20:23Both on and off the field about this, this divisional dynamic.
- 20:28I, I don't think they're going to lay down very easily,
- 20:31especially given their track record from the last, call it
- 20:37half decade, decade even of, of just dominance in that division.
- 20:42So I don't know. I, I think this is one I'm
- 20:47probably looking forward to, maybe not the most, but close to
- 20:52it, just given the the chip on the shoulder that I think the
- 20:55Braves are coming into this with.
- 20:56Yeah, I agree. I I think, yeah, everybody can
- 21:01look at last year's as a wash, as a fluke, as a, you know, the
- 21:07you got dealt a really rough hand.
- 21:09And the Braves, did they check every box this offseason?
- 21:13No. But neither did the Mets, right?
- 21:18You got a lot of guys coming back.
- 21:21I think it is like a do or die time for a few players.
- 21:25But the Braves, like I'm not quite ready to say it's do or
- 21:29die for like an Austin Riley, but it is time for him to like
- 21:33solidify himself in that next tier.
- 21:36Michael Harris, same thing, right?
- 21:38Like everyone's Michael Harris is giving me like it's a weird
- 21:46comp, but like he's giving me like Gary Sanchez vibes of like
- 21:49you came in and everyone was like high praise.
- 21:52You look good early. And then it just it hasn't
- 21:55really like taken that next step yet.
- 21:57So I'm ready to see Michael Harris like really settle in and
- 22:01be like a top five center fielder in the game.
- 22:05You know, Matt Olson is going to always do his thing.
- 22:09Aussie obvious Acuna Azuna is good good for 30 walking walking
- 22:17into a season. You know he's he's going to have
- 22:1930 minimum. They do believe that shortstop's
- 22:23a hole. Barcia is not really kind of
- 22:26checking the box for like what do you you can't I it's so funny
- 22:32how we dissect team in rosters now or we're just like every
- 22:37every position has to be top three in the league and it's
- 22:39just not realistic. Like you have to understand
- 22:42that's that's not how it works, man.
- 22:44There's there's too many jobs and not enough guys that fill
- 22:46his role. There was roles.
- 22:47So I think if he could place all defense and and hit above 250, I
- 22:51would call that a win out of Orlando RCA all day.
- 22:55So and then yeah, can Strider come back?
- 22:58Can the beard instead of the mustache be the move that?
- 23:05Mark my words, if that beard, if that beard stays, that's going
- 23:09to be The X Factor for the Braves this year, for Spencer
- 23:12Strider and more largely the Braves.
- 23:15And I'm I'm not, I'm not in the camp that Chris Sales Cy Young
- 23:22was a fluke. I'm not in that camp.
- 23:24I think he's always had that stuff in him.
- 23:27And like you, you know better than most like it.
- 23:29It's been weird injuries mixed in with someone like typical
- 23:35pitcher injuries, but it's also been like fluky weird stuff.
- 23:39So for him to be healthy and yeah, finally utilizing all of
- 23:44his pitches the right way, like that's a, that's a top five 1-2
- 23:49punch in the league if they're both rolling right.
- 23:53So yeah. Keeping it with the Braves.
- 23:57How are we feeling about the Braves, Phillies this year?
- 24:01Because I, I'll start by saying, or I should say, I'll start by
- 24:05reminding people. I think I'm giving, I, I already
- 24:08know where you stand and feel free to remind the folks as
- 24:10well. But I'm, I'm giving this
- 24:13Phillies team, this Phillies at the, the Phillies as they're
- 24:17currently constructed, this window that we've been
- 24:20witnessing for the last 3-4 years, it's been building that's
- 24:25made deep runs. I'm going to, I hope I don't
- 24:29regret saying this. I'm going to give it one more
- 24:30year. I don't know.
- 24:33I know you are. I really, I'm really trying to
- 24:35hold out for something and I'm hoping that like we talked about
- 24:39with the Braves coming into this season with a little bit of a
- 24:41chip on their shoulder, the Mets thinking that I would have.
- 24:45I'm just guessing. I might be wrong, but maybe
- 24:48there's some guys in that clubhouse in Queens that think
- 24:50they're just going to walk right to the the division title and
- 24:54and not have to put up much of a fight.
- 24:56I think I, I think there's going to be sorely mistaken, but I do
- 24:59agree that there's, there's some thought process that's so.
- 25:02So where does that leave the Phillies?
- 25:04Do do the Phillies come into this season with an even bigger
- 25:07chip than the Braves on their shoulder?
- 25:11Is that a valid? Is that a valid question to
- 25:13raise? Yeah, I think there's more
- 25:15pressure on the Phillies than the Braves that oh for sure
- 25:23getting getting a lot shorter. I like the rotation depth.
- 25:30I really like the rotation depth like a that's a strong starting
- 25:355. Jesus, Lazardo, we, we said it
- 25:38before, a very underrated move that it just got slept on.
- 25:43I feel like a good a good bit of this offseason.
- 25:45Oh yeah, yeah, that rotation, it looks, it looks solid.
- 25:56We'll see, man. We'll see I'd like to see them.
- 26:00I'd like to see them in the hunt again, but the NL is just so
- 26:03freaking deep. So I think this will get spicy.
- 26:07I I think the NL E is going to be very spicy in the top in the
- 26:12top half of the of the division. I think a lot of these a lot of
- 26:17these teams are going to get their punches in throughout the
- 26:19year. It's, I think these three teams
- 26:23being where they're at right now is going to have August and
- 26:27September as almost must watch TV when any three of these teams
- 26:32play each other. I think that's what it's going
- 26:35to feel like. And we were talking off air.
- 26:38We're not going to go ahead and connect the dots between
- 26:41Phillies and Mets. We, I, I think most people can
- 26:44agree, feel like the Phillies and Braves rivalry has a little
- 26:47bit more to it than the Phillies and Mets.
- 26:51But overall, like, this is going to be a super tight division,
- 26:54man. And let's face it, dude, the
- 26:59Phillies still have some stars and I like the rotation depth
- 27:04more than the other two teams. So they're going to be they're
- 27:08going to be up there. They're going to be up there.
- 27:12You mentioned the National League being stacked, sort of
- 27:14leading the charge. They're leading the pack.
- 27:17I think everyone knows the Los Angeles Dodgers.
- 27:19They've got let's, let's look at a few matchups, we'll call it,
- 27:26for the Dodgers, one of which being the traditional rivalry,
- 27:30as it were, the San Francisco Giants, the more recent recently
- 27:37blossomed rivalry of the Dodgers, Padres.
- 27:41And then the one that I think you wanted to add to the list,
- 27:44the Dodgers versus everyone else, the rivalry of the Dodgers
- 27:48versus the field. Yeah.
- 27:50Where do you want to start? Well, let's get the Giants out
- 27:54of the way. That rivalry's dead.
- 27:56I'm sorry. And like I said before, you have
- 28:01your tradition and then you have like this chapter that you're
- 28:05allowed to be dormant. And if you're dormant for too
- 28:09long, you can't fall back on the tradition anymore.
- 28:13And unfortunately the giants, I mean, I can't get there.
- 28:18I I really can't get there. We're talking about most
- 28:23projections, probably been having them finish 4th in in the
- 28:26division and you're not able to hang anymore.
- 28:31So I like what you did. I mean, I, I, I like Willy
- 28:36Adamus, I like your left side, Willy Adamus and Matt Chapman.
- 28:38You're going to play defense. You're probably not going to
- 28:41score a ton of runs, but you're going to play good defense.
- 28:43And because of where you play, you're going to keep the ball in
- 28:47the in the park and you're not going to get torched.
- 28:51But like, you can't hang with that Dodgers lineup and their
- 28:55pitching blows you out of the water.
- 28:57It's just it's too big of a gap for me.
- 29:01Sort of separate to the rivalry conversation, I and we'll
- 29:05revisit this when we get to our hot takes and predictions
- 29:07episode that we do every year, but I could see this Giants team
- 29:13put together a wild card bid. I really could.
- 29:18I really could. I mean, they are, like you said,
- 29:22they the, the, the league that they're in is, is rather
- 29:25stacked. But I don't know.
- 29:30I mean, I think win total wise, they could get there, but
- 29:33they're just going to be up against a lot of a lot of other
- 29:36teams that are going to be. Right there, they're stuck.
- 29:38They're stuck in a really tough division.
- 29:40They're stuck in a really, really tough division.
- 29:44You know, you put them in the central and they're in the
- 29:46conversation. That's fair, yeah.
- 29:48The West is just, it's it's really, really tough, man.
- 29:54Yeah. I just can't get there and it's
- 29:56been too long. I'm trying them for the Giants.
- 29:59I, I'm with you in saying that I think the Giants Dodgers rivalry
- 30:02is, but I'm again, separate note.
- 30:05I'm, I just want to be on record as saying that I'm, I'm, I have
- 30:09good feelings about the Dodger or about the Giants in 2025.
- 30:13Save this receipt. Let's revisit here.
- 30:15We can revisit it. We can revisit it, the Padres
- 30:20sort of sliding in, taking the place of the Giants for good
- 30:27reason. For good reason.
- 30:28Let's just let's just call it like it is for good reason.
- 30:32They're entertaining, they have spark, they have flash.
- 30:35Again, I really wish they would have capitalized this offseason
- 30:42on the momentum. Granted, it got cut short in the
- 30:46postseason, but I really wish you would have taken that postse
- 30:51or the the postseason match up against the Dodgers and and use
- 30:56that to fuel an offseason where you're just not going to roll
- 30:59over. And they comparatively,
- 31:03comparatively, they they rolled over and now it's it's sort of
- 31:07leaving us wanting more coming into 2025.
- 31:10But I still, with that said, I still don't think, no, let me
- 31:16just say this, I think there's still potential for this rivalry
- 31:21coming into this year, but you're going to need you're
- 31:24going to need I'll, I'll say this, you're going to need more
- 31:26now out of who's there. Then you would have had you
- 31:30supplemented it and then you could have alleviated some of
- 31:34that pressure from the guys who are currently there.
- 31:36Yeah, just a weird place with their ownership and, you know,
- 31:40the owner passing away and lawsuits back and forth and, you
- 31:44know, not knowing when and how to spend money.
- 31:46Like it's, it's a lot of strange stuff.
- 31:48There's strange rumors. So like I don't like it feels
- 31:52like one of those things where like sometimes you can have a
- 31:55team join together and disagreeing with their front
- 32:03office. Like sometimes it's like a US
- 32:06against the organization like type mentality that I think
- 32:11could work. So it's weird because like I
- 32:16think that there's going to be a bigger gap this year between the
- 32:20success of those two teams, but I think the rivalry still stays.
- 32:25Does that make sense? Sure.
- 32:27Yeah, I would agree. Like I, I think that there's
- 32:30still a lot of spice there because of your because of your
- 32:36Machado and Tatis that just are always going to keep that alive.
- 32:40Like they're, that's just who they are.
- 32:44But I just, I don't see the Padres taking a bigger step
- 32:53towards success versus last year.
- 32:56I don't see them even taking the same step of success that they
- 33:01did last year. I think there's a little bit of
- 33:03a slide and this team could look pretty different post deadline.
- 33:10So that makes me wonder. But I do like the rivalry.
- 33:14I think it's still solid. I think it's still yeah.
- 33:17I mean, that's I don't think it's going anywhere.
- 33:19And if you can keep that core around which contractually it
- 33:24seems like, you know those two guys plus a young fired up
- 33:30Jackson Merrill is going to be in the mix like all that's key
- 33:34recipe. So I think it stays put.
- 33:40Speaking of Stan Put, I think this rivalry between the Dodgers
- 33:43and literally everybody else is going to be around for a while.
- 33:46Let's. Go for baseball, man.
- 33:50It's it's great for baseball. Yeah, much.
- 33:53As you hate it. It's great for baseball and I, I
- 33:56think what Mookie said, what was it prior?
- 34:00Was it going into last season talking about is it going to be
- 34:04everybody's World Series essentially?
- 34:07I mean, that aged rather well. I, I will say, and I think that
- 34:11that sentiment carries over to this year to next year, the year
- 34:15after that. And maybe even for like the, I
- 34:18mean, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here, but maybe even for
- 34:20like the next decade, because the Dodgers are just showing no
- 34:23signs of changing their philosophy when it comes to
- 34:26adding stars. They're not showing any signs of
- 34:32changing their where they finished in the division,
- 34:38therefore putting themselves in a in just in a perennial
- 34:45opportunity to make a run in. I mean, if they're not going to
- 34:51win every World Series, obviously, but they're going to
- 34:53have arguably the best shot year in and year out for the next
- 34:57half decade, maybe more. So it's, it's going to be a
- 35:01situation like the Yankees faced many years ago, where it's going
- 35:06to be, why can't we be them? We, if we can't be them, then
- 35:11we're just going to choose to hate them.
- 35:13And I think that's where the that's where a lot of people
- 35:15already are with the Dodgers. I I feel like.
- 35:22I think it's too early to call it this, but it's it's got all
- 35:25the makings to become a dynasty like it's it's shaping that way.
- 35:32And there's not. Like you said, there's not.
- 35:33Going to be a fall off with how they're doing things.
- 35:36All these guys are locked down long term.
- 35:40And they're still. Pouring money into their farm
- 35:43development, scouting, it's. Not going anywhere, they're not.
- 35:48Going anywhere? So it's like wrestling?
- 35:51Needs to get better. Or you're not in.
- 35:55Contention. That's just how it's going to
- 35:57go. So yeah, I mean, it is going to
- 35:59be every team's World Series. It is every team is is going to
- 36:02give them their best. And it's good to have a villain.
- 36:08They're obviously clearly the biggest, baddest villain in the
- 36:12league. So buckle up.
- 36:16It's going to be you might even see like a new random rivalry
- 36:20pop up out of this. Something weird, something
- 36:23strange, right? Like, I'm not saying a long term
- 36:261 we talked about it off here beforehand, but like a few years
- 36:29ago with like a random Ray's Yankees thing that was going on,
- 36:34Cece's yelling at the dugout. I mean, hey, this team, I'm.
- 36:37Watching right now. Why?
- 36:38Like, why not the Cubs? Yeah, the Cubs.
- 36:41Had the Cubs. Had a heck of an offseason
- 36:43they're they're trying to position themselves to go for it
- 36:46this year. Something could well.
- 36:48Speaking of dead rivalries, the Cubs and Cardinals thing is
- 36:50done. Yeah, Let's just get that out of
- 36:53the way, yeah? Let's get that out of the way.
- 36:54The White Sox are barely a Major League team, so we're not going
- 36:57to call the Chicago rivalry a thing either.
- 37:01The Cubs need to direct their attention towards towards the
- 37:04Dodgers. Maybe, maybe there's a little
- 37:06something something there. That's my.
- 37:09I'm going to just go ahead. And put my vote in now that's my
- 37:11vote for Dark Horse. Sneaky pop up.
- 37:17New pop up. Rivalry with the.
- 37:19Dodgers. That's my vote.
- 37:20Is the Chicago Cubs fair enough? Fair enough as they get.
- 37:25Currently, no, as there be no hit right now heading into the
- 37:29bottom of the fourth next along. The Atlanta Games are flying, by
- 37:34the way. I noticed that it's fat.
- 37:37Like fast. Oh yeah, watched the.
- 37:39Game the other day it was like. Through three innings it was
- 37:42like 1/2 hour. It's like done.
- 37:44Speaking of flying. The A's travel traveling on on
- 37:50over to to Sacramento this year I.
- 37:55I wanted to add this one. To our list, not because I think
- 37:57it's going to really matter this year, but the effect that the
- 38:01relocation is going to have on this Bay Area rivalry and that's
- 38:07the A's and giants. What do we, what do we think
- 38:11that this is going to do? Because you you look at the
- 38:16rivalry as it was previously constructed when the A's were
- 38:18still in Oakland. And the.
- 38:23Rivalry was what it was. I, I, I don't want to go as far
- 38:26as to say it was on life support, but it just, it was
- 38:29lacking interest. It was lacking spice.
- 38:32What do we got to go? We got.
- 38:34To go back to like, that's the early 2000s.
- 38:37A good while? Yeah, a good while.
- 38:39And so the reason, again, the reason I wanted to add this to
- 38:42the list to discuss is because, I mean, does the relocation sort
- 38:46of put the nail in into this thing?
- 38:47Because no like. I don't think so.
- 38:52You think it's still you? You think it's still alive?
- 38:57Oh, put the nail in this thing. I'm sorry.
- 38:59Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah, that's it's done.
- 39:01Yeah, yeah. I mean.
- 39:04Yeah, set. Well, that's let.
- 39:07Me, let me freshen up on my. Geography here, where is where
- 39:12is Sacramento in relation? What it is about California?
- 39:15But everything seems like it's like four or five hours apart,
- 39:18correct? Well, it's a big state.
- 39:22OK, so. It's looking for Oakland here.
- 39:29Where the heck is Oakland? Is Sacramento nice?
- 39:33Sacramento. Is that a nice?
- 39:34Place. Not from what?
- 39:36I've heard, but better than Oakland.
- 39:39Never been. I haven't heard the best.
- 39:43I don't. I don't.
- 39:45Know. So why is Oakland not showing up
- 39:48on the map like it's in it's in this area closed?
- 39:53It's just closed. It's no Oakland man, can you?
- 39:56Imagine losing 3 sports franchises in a decade like
- 40:03that's that's actually crazy. So it's.
- 40:08OK, I see. Right.
- 40:09Duh. Yeah.
- 40:09Across the Bay. It's east of San Francisco and
- 40:12then Sacramento's a little, little northeast of San
- 40:15Francisco. So distance wise, definitely a
- 40:18little further. But I again, I just think with
- 40:21the direction that the the A's are headed, I, I don't know that
- 40:25that's going to help this whatsoever.
- 40:27So I'm just going to go ahead and say that this is dead.
- 40:33Yeah. So shout out to her in the chat.
- 40:35She said she loved living in Sacramento.
- 40:37So maybe there's Yeah, it's like a little more.
- 40:39It's a little more. Inland.
- 40:40Maybe there's something redeem. Redeeming when it.
- 40:43Comes back from a different vibe.
- 40:45Like it's like almost two different states when you get
- 40:47off the coast, I noticed. Like when you get, when you get
- 40:50inland, it's like, is this still California?
- 40:52It's so different. For sure and.
- 40:56Last one I got here. Rangers.
- 41:00Astros. We've talked for for some time
- 41:05now about how we may be looking at the finally the, the come
- 41:11down of, of the Houston Astros little bit of a dismantling of,
- 41:17of the, the window of the what? Would you call it dominance?
- 41:28Yeah, a dismantling. Of the dominance a little bit
- 41:32for many reasons. Age, contracts, trades, free
- 41:36agency. There's a lot of factors to play
- 41:38with the Astros, but name of their ballpark that I would
- 41:42argue that's the biggest factor here at play.
- 41:46But I. Think the Rangers are?
- 41:52I don't know. I have.
- 41:55I'll admit I have a hard time pegging the Rangers as like the
- 41:58new team, like the new sheriff in town.
- 42:02In in the long. Term sense, but I feel like
- 42:05currently. They're kind of the.
- 42:09New sheriff in town. But they they're.
- 42:13Not in my at least my opinion, my humble opinion.
- 42:17I can't say that they're the new Astros because they'd, I don't
- 42:21think they're set up. That they're constructed to.
- 42:26Have the same type of long term dominance.
- 42:28So I think I guess for the time being, we can say that you know,
- 42:34the Rangers are on on their way up.
- 42:36Astros might be sliding a little bit.
- 42:39You know, you lose Bregman, you you ship, you ship Kyle Tucker
- 42:42out. I think the Rangers are.
- 42:48I think they've stayed. In the same place like.
- 42:53Sure, yeah. But they're still really didn't
- 42:57do well. Last year, I think they'll do
- 42:59better than they did last year. Yeah, I think.
- 43:03It's more. So about the Astro sliding to
- 43:09make it kind of like you were talking about like with the
- 43:11Yankees and Red Sox, like it's a little bit more of an like one
- 43:14team either has to elevate or one level slide where that one?
- 43:17Is, so it's like a. Level playing field between the
- 43:19two teams. More so now than than it's been
- 43:25again. Trying to say stuff without
- 43:27giving away like hot takes in predictions episode at all but
- 43:31yeah man, I mean like you're crazy to think that there hasn't
- 43:35been a little bit of a slide with the Astros so we'll.
- 43:42See, and that's not. I was wishing.
- 43:44That upon yeah, no, no, no, no. It's just a reality of their
- 43:49yeah, their personnel moves. Just yeah, just how it how it is
- 43:53how. It check out.
- 43:55But the Rangers line up. Needs to bang.
- 44:01They got to go. Pitching's got some question
- 44:04marks. But like, whatever they need to
- 44:06hit because like that team's too stacked to not hit.
- 44:11Corey Seeger, stay healthy, be who you're supposed to be.
- 44:20Let's I think it's time to rank. These.
- 44:23From let let's do a joint. List here, working our way from
- 44:26the bottom to the top 5th. Well, how do we want to
- 44:33categorize this? Ones we're most looking forward
- 44:36to watching this year? Ones we think will be most
- 44:38heated. I mean, I know that the title is
- 44:40ones rivalries that will be most heated in 2025.
- 44:43Let's go with heated. Let's go.
- 44:44With most heated stay. With the theme here.
- 44:47I'm going to. Go What do you what do you
- 44:50think? About.
- 44:53I mean because we covered what like.
- 44:55A. What about Mets?
- 44:57Mets. Braves at 5:00.
- 44:59What do you think of that? We covered like 10:10.
- 45:02Or so Mets, Braves in the five hole.
- 45:12Yeah, yeah, yeah, we can do that.
- 45:16I kind of want to then. Go.
- 45:21Braves Phillies 4. Braves, Phillies 4.
- 45:27I would then go. Yanks, Mets 3.
- 45:36Really. You'd put the Yankees and Mets
- 45:38at 3:00. Maybe put them four and.
- 45:42Then. So we went Phillies.
- 45:43We went Phillies brave. No, what did we go?
- 45:465 Mets. Braves, then, then maybe Yanks.
- 45:52Mats 4, Braves, Phillies 3. And then I, I think it's I think
- 46:01it's a slam dunk. I think you and I both know what
- 46:031 and 2 are. You really think the Yankees?
- 46:07And Red Sox jumped up the the leaderboard that much?
- 46:12I think it's back, yeah. You really think it's back?
- 46:15I think it's back. You're going to put him at 2
- 46:19though. Yeah, yeah.
- 46:21Putting them at 2:00 and. Then all right, so you.
- 46:25Are you are riding the wave of that that last year's post
- 46:30season putting Dodgers? Padres, I'm going to ride it.
- 46:35I. Like it, I like.
- 46:36It do you like that? Do you think that's a fair?
- 46:41Yeah, because the NL. East, like there's there's to
- 46:47me, at least there's no defined 1-2 punch like these guys, these
- 46:53two teams are just going to go out.
- 46:55It's going to be a lot of lot of lot of hooks, a lot of jabs.
- 47:00There's going to be some some black guys like it.
- 47:03It's like. You have your teams that.
- 47:08Are just are going to win more games.
- 47:10I think the Dodgers are going to win more games than the Padres.
- 47:13Duh. But I think they're like,
- 47:15there's aspects of what the Padres have and bring to the
- 47:18table that almost feel like they can have the Dodgers number
- 47:22sometimes. So they hate each other like
- 47:26Laura said, they hate each other and.
- 47:31The core is. Still there the I think.
- 47:36You know it's still. Fresh from the postseason, I
- 47:40think Mike Shield is like the perfect manager for the Padres.
- 47:44Just the attitude and the like, it's, it's just I, I would want
- 47:51to run through a wall for that guy.
- 47:53So I think it's. I think the Padres.
- 47:58As a clubhouse need to like protect each other and say hey,
- 48:03this organization is going through craziness.
- 48:06Hey, we got. We lost.
- 48:09And we were right. There at the finish line last
- 48:11year, I think we got to bring it back, man.
- 48:13So I think you're going to see some success there.
- 48:16I just think that the Dodgers are a very tough mountain to
- 48:19climb. But it's going to bring
- 48:21fireworks. There's no doubt in my mind.
- 48:50Whose quote was this? Whose quote was.
- 48:54This you want the quote, you want the details quote.
- 49:02But if you have another guy. Or veteran, like, you know, say
- 49:05John Lester is pitching for the Angels right now.
- 49:08He'd be like, no, we're going to need a normal schedule.
- 49:11I'm going to pitch every fifth day.
- 49:12We're not doing this every Sunday crap.
- 49:15You know what I mean? You get an old vet in there,
- 49:17they want to stick to the routine, but you got nobody in
- 49:20there, no one else to pitch. I don't even know who else is in
- 49:23there. So doesn't matter.
- 49:26Dear Lord. When was this?
- 49:30This was the three O take episode 138 UNS Cespedes the
- 49:37disappearing act August 3rd, 2020 bro dropping like just.
- 49:42Dropping names like. Pulling names out of.
- 49:46Nowhere. Jon Lester, what I'm going to
- 49:56say me. So here's the deal I.
- 49:59Actually forgot to look at who it is, so I can just let me just
- 50:03play it here real quick. Let's see.
- 50:04Let's see what we got. I hate listening to myself.
- 50:08Please don't be me. I hope it's you now.
- 50:09Who did you guess? Did you say?
- 50:11I think it's. Me.
- 50:11I think it's me. I forgot who.
- 50:13I forgot to listen. So let's see who it was we're.
- 50:22Going to need to a normal. Schedule going to pitch.
- 50:25Every fifth day we're. Not doing this every Sunday
- 50:27crap, you know what I mean. You get an old vet in there,
- 50:31they want to stick to the routine.
- 50:32But you got nobody in there, no one else to pitch.
- 50:35I don't even know who else is in there.
- 50:36So doesn't matter. It's Mike.
- 50:41Good call. Good call.
- 50:45Yeah, Nate. Nate gets.
- 50:46In there sometimes with just like is you know what I'm doing
- 50:49this crap you know I don't even care who else is in there what
- 50:52day we. Record.
- 50:54I don't know. It doesn't matter.
- 50:55What kind of traffic I had on the way?
- 50:57Home that's. I get it.
- 51:00I get it good stuff, good stuff well done well done.
- 51:04I'll give you another 55 big booms.
- 51:09Let's let's get into this draft. So I had to make a change to the
- 51:17title because originally I had it lifted it listed as active
- 51:20hits, leader draft, and that was going to be misleading because
- 51:25that's the. Assumption that.
- 51:26We know who the current active. Hits leaders are.
- 51:31And we don't this draft hit total.
- 51:35Yes, we're we're. Drafting by position.
- 51:40No research. Just off the noggins, see who
- 51:44knows Ball. We're essentially, Long story
- 51:47short, we're trying to compile a team that has the most
- 51:51collective hits, more so than the other team, so.
- 51:57It's we're going to probably. Leave some names off, but again,
- 52:00no research. That's how we like to do these
- 52:02drafts, Blind drafts, Just yeah. Phones away.
- 52:08You know, put it over. Here like it's, oh, it's a
- 52:10reach. You won't see me reach over
- 52:12there and we're going to see. See.
- 52:14What we got here and then I guess the plan is to are you, do
- 52:18you want to keep track of the OR do you want to Yeah, I'll total.
- 52:21Them up when we're done, we'll just see the the guy who has the
- 52:24most amount of hits totaled up at the end of this with his
- 52:27lineup will be the winner. These are active guys.
- 52:34Yeah, active. Only correct active, only no
- 52:36retired. So if we have some vets that are
- 52:40still free agents at the moment, that's still fine.
- 52:44We're going to go position by position.
- 52:46So that's what the randomizer is going to hit us with.
- 52:49So we're not. Just randomly.
- 52:50Drafting. And we have a little twist we're
- 52:55going to have, we're going to have a starting pitcher in there
- 52:58because that makes us think a little bit to go back to the
- 53:01days of not universal DH when they could hit, Yeah.
- 53:06And then Speaking of DH. We will have ADH, but we're just
- 53:09going to treat that as like a free spot basically.
- 53:12So basically any, any position player can well, hopefully
- 53:16position player will be put there.
- 53:19Doesn't have to be like labeled as ADH on Baseball Reference or
- 53:23whatever. Yeah.
- 53:27And again, if we stumble upon the the active hit leader at
- 53:32that given position, great. But I'm not counting on that for
- 53:36for any of these, yeah picks really.
- 53:38So we're just going to quick question out of.
- 53:40Curiosity. Was it a landslide last last
- 53:43draft? It was like a 9010.
- 53:45Yeah, well, I mean, to be fair, what?
- 53:46No, no, no, no, no, no, no, to be fair, it the caption of the
- 53:49post that I put out was just go ahead and vote for Nate.
- 53:52That's literally what I said. I said just go ahead and vote
- 53:54for Nate. And so people, you know, shout
- 53:55out to them. They listened.
- 53:57They they said, you know what on the Internet does you know?
- 53:59We're going to do what? We're going to do what?
- 54:01Our friend Kyle says we're just going to vote for Nate because
- 54:03this was ugly. This was a landslide.
- 54:05So with that said, let us get into it here.
- 54:09What do you want to title this draft?
- 54:10Because I I just have it as. Active hits draft is.
- 54:15There. Is there a twist you want to put
- 54:16on that because I'm about to put it up on the screen here for the
- 54:18folks. No, I think that.
- 54:21Works. Let's not overthink it, you
- 54:22know, Active hits draft. All right, nervous I'm.
- 54:31Nervous for this one. I don't know why this is going
- 54:35to be. We're going to leave.
- 54:36Some names off. We're going to leave some names
- 54:38off. All right, You got first pick,
- 54:40so good luck dealing with that pressure.
- 54:43Yeah. What position you got?
- 54:45Snake drafts. We've got center field.
- 54:50That's such a tough one to start.
- 54:51Off with I mean the outfield in. General, Yeah.
- 54:58Trying to think of you guys that have been.
- 54:59Doing it for a while. These drafts are tough.
- 55:08Because it makes me like, I sit here like, oh, I know ball, I
- 55:11know ball, but I I just black out.
- 55:13I'm like who like who are even center fielders now?
- 55:18Yeah, it makes. You makes you kind of fumble the
- 55:21fumble a little bit like not quite sure.
- 55:24It's like the people. That get on like.
- 55:25The the what's the thing at the end of Family Feud?
- 55:29Like the fast money or whatever? Yeah, exactly what you saying.
- 55:32Why would you say? That.
- 55:35All right. Active center fielders.
- 55:41Feel like center fielders? Tough.
- 55:42Man, just mostly young guys. All right, Well, I mean, we're
- 55:46off to already like a question for the committee.
- 55:50Am I allowed to put Mike Trout here?
- 55:52No, he's. He's a right fielder now.
- 55:55We did it. We literally did a whole segment
- 55:57on it. That's.
- 55:59Crazy because he hasn't played any games in right field.
- 56:02He is a right fielder. That's tough.
- 56:05So Jose Altuve is the left fielder, just out of curiosity.
- 56:09Like guys like that, that what we're doing, I mean within.
- 56:12Reason like if we've if we've been made aware of a positional
- 56:15change like sure we opening day may get here and some guy may be
- 56:19in a new spot, but of what we know we're just going to go
- 56:22based off that. I hear you that.
- 56:25Hurts center field is not. My brain is not braining.
- 56:30Right now. Oh, I'm trying to think around.
- 56:35The league, dude. I'm not cheating, I'm just.
- 56:39Pulling up the list of teams just so I can like jog my memory
- 56:43here. Maybe this will go slower than
- 56:49what we thought it was going to go.
- 56:51You're not looking in the chat either, are you?
- 56:52I'm not looking in the chat, no. All right.
- 56:55Sorry, Chad. You're not going to get put up
- 56:56on the screen. Dude what?
- 57:00Are we doing here? Come on.
- 57:08Why do I feel like I'm just? Overthinking so many names.
- 57:28I feel like every center. Fielder that comes to my mind is
- 57:30so young. Let Yeah.
- 57:33Do we want to make a revision here?
- 57:34Do we want to go? Let's just say well.
- 57:43Let's just say if they if they play like so for this, for this,
- 57:48for the sake of this exercise, sure, Go ahead, put Trout in
- 57:52centre. I appreciate that.
- 57:53Thank you very. Much I'm going to go.
- 57:55With because who know, he could still make a cameo.
- 58:03You got an old head that I can't.
- 58:05Can I put? Can I?
- 58:07The question for the committee, Can I put Andrew McCutcheon in
- 58:11center? I'm going to say no, just.
- 58:15Because of how long he's been a left fielder, it's been like six
- 58:20or seven years now. What are you researching, guy?
- 58:29I just I'm looking up the game breakdown.
- 58:33I'm not like looking up other center.
- 58:34Fielders. The last time we he saw center
- 58:40field was in 2022 with the Brewers.
- 58:45I I forgot he was a. Brewer, to be honest with you,
- 58:47I'll allow it. That's fine.
- 58:52All right. So just 'cause you just 'cause
- 58:54you threw me a bone. I'll throw you one too.
- 58:58'Cause Mccutcheon's a good get. Mccutcheon's like, got to be
- 59:00like top three of active guys anyway.
- 59:04I mean. Yeah, I'm a go.
- 59:08Yeah, let's go. I was just.
- 59:10I was saving. Him for left field, but that's
- 59:12fair. Let's go Mccutchen and and
- 59:13Centre. All right, that means I got
- 59:17first pick here. I'm going with this pick.
- 59:25Next position is first base. Give me.
- 59:42My mind immediately went to. One name and.
- 59:45I find it too. I feel like I.
- 59:49No, I, I. Rushed to I rushed to to picks
- 59:52last episode and it cost me dearly.
- 59:58Should look around the league here again just to teams.
- 1:00:03I'm not looking at names. Oh.
- 1:00:10Oh, this is. Actually going to be a very oh,
- 1:00:15I'm going right. He's got a who has more, who has
- 1:00:24more? I can't figure out what you're
- 1:00:34thinking. I'm going to why do I feel like
- 1:00:39I think he has more? I'm going to go.
- 1:00:45Paul Goldschmidt Yeah, that's a good one.
- 1:00:51The two names that came to mind for me, Goldie was one and then.
- 1:00:58Just because of how long? He's been in the league.
- 1:01:00I'm going to go Bryce Harper. True.
- 1:01:04Yeah, just. Cuz it like he.
- 1:01:06He's been in there a minute. I literally did a whole.
- 1:01:09TikTok on this dude's been in the league, what now?
- 1:01:11For a dozen years, yeah. Like, Rizzo was another name,
- 1:01:16but I was like, I feel like Bryce Harper's been in the
- 1:01:19league longer and has been more healthy, you know, Goldie.
- 1:01:22Goldie was absolutely up there. Actually, no, I can't.
- 1:01:26Say it because we have a, we have a free spot.
- 1:01:27So I'm yeah, we need to stop. Rattling off names.
- 1:01:32No, that's all right. Sorry.
- 1:01:33That's all right. OK, next position up and you've
- 1:01:40got this pick first starting pitcher.
- 1:01:46Oh no, this is so. Early for you, Enjoy.
- 1:01:49What do you mean? Early like it?
- 1:01:51Yeah, it wouldn't have. Mattered.
- 1:01:52I wanted my purses to get flowing more.
- 1:01:54You weren't in the. You weren't in the headspace to
- 1:01:56pick a starting pitcher. I I get it, I get.
- 1:02:11It I guess. I'm, I'm, I'm going to go
- 1:02:14Kershaw just because of being in the NL his whole career.
- 1:02:16Charlie, that's what I was going to.
- 1:02:20Go with, give me. I wasn't even thinking of a Plan
- 1:02:24B here. Yeah, I know.
- 1:02:26I actually just came to. I had another name in mind, but
- 1:02:30I just came about that one. Oh, give me no he.
- 1:02:45Went on. I can't, he went on record as.
- 1:02:51But was he good though? Was he good?
- 1:02:57What has come to mind for you dude, the pitching is.
- 1:03:09Tough pitching is such a good. Wrap.
- 1:03:11Isn't that a good wrinkle? That's a great wrinkle, but.
- 1:03:17That like there's so many layers.
- 1:03:18To that, because you not only have to have a guy that's been
- 1:03:20in the league long enough to have a hit, he also you got to
- 1:03:24think NL and a lot of these guy, I mean guys these days just
- 1:03:27bounce around more like you don't see guys spend entire
- 1:03:30careers with the team. So that's right.
- 1:03:33Oh man, I'm this is a true test of whether I know ball.
- 1:03:57Oh, is he? Still in that he's got.
- 1:04:00Yeah, he got picked up by the. I think I know who you're
- 1:04:07thinking about. Tell me who you?
- 1:04:09Who you think I'm thinking about?
- 1:04:11Tell me what division? I don't even know who he plays.
- 1:04:14For right now, but I think he's still active.
- 1:04:16No, no, no. But the team.
- 1:04:17That you're thinking of? What division?
- 1:04:22I could pull a lot of teams. He's been.
- 1:04:25Maybe we're not thinking of the same name.
- 1:04:26I don't think we are. The name that came to mind and
- 1:04:33this. Isn't necessarily my pick, but
- 1:04:35the name that came to mind was Kyle Hendricks.
- 1:04:39That's not a terrible I. Feel like he could.
- 1:04:41He could. At least swing it.
- 1:04:42It's not a bad play whether or not he cub his whole career,
- 1:04:46right? Yeah, well, that's what I'm
- 1:04:47saying he got. Picked up.
- 1:04:48Was it the angels, right or no? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:53Was he angels whether or not he racked up the hits?
- 1:04:59Yeah, I feel you. Shoot, you going to send it?
- 1:05:12Yeah, I'm going to go. Kyle Hendricks, because my other
- 1:05:15name was Scherzer, but he was literally on record.
- 1:05:18I know. Is that the name?
- 1:05:20You're thinking of. Well, yeah, but.
- 1:05:24He was on record only considering like the nationals.
- 1:05:28Nationals, right Which? Is he was he bounced around the
- 1:05:32ALAL mostly. And like majority of the the DH
- 1:05:38stretch or non DH stretch was with the Tigers.
- 1:05:42So it's like, yeah, I can't, I can't get there.
- 1:05:46Were there any other names? That came to mind for you?
- 1:05:48Just like not even guys even pick, but just the guy that was
- 1:05:50bouncing around like Rich. Hill like because he's been
- 1:05:53around forever and hoping that he was, he's not technically
- 1:05:57retired. Yet I guess right?
- 1:05:59Exactly. And I, I thought he just got
- 1:06:01picked up, but I could be wrong. Yeah, I don't think he has.
- 1:06:04All right, yeah, Anyway, my. Pick.
- 1:06:08Is this is I like this because there's no, there's no voting
- 1:06:14involved. It's not like subjective, it's
- 1:06:18very much like total up the numbers at the end and see what
- 1:06:21we got. Doesn't need you don't need
- 1:06:22sexy. Picks.
- 1:06:23Andrew McCutchen ain't a sexy pick, but that's going to that's
- 1:06:26going to get you it's going to get you good numbers.
- 1:06:31Yeah, not a sexy pick, but. If the numbers speak for
- 1:06:34themselves, I don't need to worry about it, All right?
- 1:06:36My pick is catcher. All right, Catcher.
- 1:06:43Catcher. Catcher.
- 1:06:44Catcher. Also the other thing I love
- 1:06:53about my. My Mccutchen pick is we don't
- 1:06:56even need to leave this up for vote for the the listeners, but
- 1:07:00go Kippu Mccutchen Center. We agreed upon it.
- 1:07:03So that's what it's going down as we allowed it.
- 1:07:08Especially since they I mean like.
- 1:07:09Both him and Trout came up as center fielders.
- 1:07:13We know we're going to remember them as center fielders, I
- 1:07:16think, yeah. Catcher.
- 1:07:35It's tough, man, because you just got to think.
- 1:07:36About the old the old dudes, I just got to check a text real.
- 1:07:39Quick. Yeah, I'll bet we're good.
- 1:07:42Is that text from baseball? Reference, making sure it's not
- 1:07:45a word. Text just out here slacking.
- 1:07:49Taking a look. Oh, what am I doing?
- 1:07:50What? Why am I an idiot, damn it.
- 1:07:53What am I doing my? Goodness, Sal Perez, come on
- 1:07:56down. I was hoping you were going to
- 1:07:58overlook. It I really was.
- 1:08:00There was a name that I was. About to pull the trigger on but
- 1:08:03I'm glad I I was really hoping. You would glad I kept circling.
- 1:08:07Around the league I was really hoping.
- 1:08:10You'd you'd overthink him, that would have been a.
- 1:08:15That would have been leaving off Mike Trout from the last draft.
- 1:08:19That would have been a fail of that type of proportion.
- 1:08:22The tough, I think that. I he was obviously my number
- 1:08:25one. I didn't even bank on it #2.
- 1:08:29And there's, I think there's. Such a massive drop off which
- 1:08:32sucks. So now I just got to think of.
- 1:08:36Old catchers. Can I tell you what's coming to
- 1:08:51mind? Like I'm, I'm like rattling off
- 1:08:53some names in my head. That's what I mean.
- 1:08:55That's what I did. With starting pitching.
- 1:08:58Weirdly enough, both. Maldonado and Christian Vasquez
- 1:09:02are rolling around in my head just how long they've been
- 1:09:04around. Offensive catchers are hard to.
- 1:09:11Come by Rio Muto. But like, has he been doing it
- 1:09:15that long? I'm not gonna lie if.
- 1:09:20If if we're like sworded neck and neck the rest of the like
- 1:09:25throughout the remainder of the this could be the difference.
- 1:09:27No, no, not. Even just this.
- 1:09:28This and the starting pitching, I feel like those are the.
- 1:09:31Two, those are the two different, but this is a bigger
- 1:09:33gap. We're talking hundreds versus
- 1:09:35dozens. Well, I don't know though I.
- 1:09:38I have no idea what Kyle Hendrick's hitting career looks
- 1:09:41like or stat line looks like. I.
- 1:09:44Can't think of old catchers. Man, I can't think of old
- 1:09:47offensive catchers I'm going to have.
- 1:09:53You've got somebody just trying to think of, I mean maybe
- 1:09:58William or Wilson Contreras, but he just moved to first base, so
- 1:10:02and he. Hasn't been around how?
- 1:10:08Long I'm putting my cutchin in center.
- 1:10:09So what are we? What are we doing here?
- 1:10:11Yeah. But I don't even.
- 1:10:14Nah, I'm not going to help you out.
- 1:10:16I need to win this draft, Yeah. Give me Travis Darnell.
- 1:10:22I think he's been around a long. Time and really.
- 1:10:25OK, yeah, I'm only going to say this.
- 1:10:28I'm only going to say this because I know I well it.
- 1:10:32I'm just going to assume you're not going to pick a catcher for
- 1:10:34your free spot. No.
- 1:10:36Did you entertain JT Rio Muto at all?
- 1:10:39I did. I said Rio Muto.
- 1:10:40But I was just like, oh, you did?
- 1:10:41How long he's been around? Oh, yeah, I missed that.
- 1:10:43OK, Like it, like I don't even really count as Marlins days,
- 1:10:46you know what I mean? Like it's one year of being
- 1:10:49solid and then what? It's been five years.
- 1:10:55I think Darnold was going to sneak up.
- 1:10:56Because like, you got to go back to, like, Darnold was like a Met
- 1:10:59in, like, 2012, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:11:01Like, I think people overlooked that.
- 1:11:03Yeah. All right.
- 1:11:05I'm up first. What do we got with?
- 1:11:06Position. Whoops, it took.
- 1:11:13Sal Perez is a killer. That's, I think that's the
- 1:11:16number one catcher pick and I think Andrew Mccutchen's the
- 1:11:20number one outfielder pick. I'm going to be truthful with
- 1:11:22you. Third base, OK.
- 1:11:46Good bro, just tough man I. Know no, can't do it.
- 1:12:26Got. Got some?
- 1:12:28Names rather than. Around I do too.
- 1:12:34I think it's another like Bryce Harper style picks been around
- 1:12:38longer and I think the totals have gotten higher than people
- 1:12:41think. I'm going to go Manny Machado.
- 1:12:44Oh yeah, Wow, that completely set my mind.
- 1:12:48That's a good pick. That's a great pick.
- 1:12:53Yeah. Dang, might lose some ground
- 1:12:56here if I was even up, which I frankly doubt I was.
- 1:13:01I feel like you are. I'm excited.
- 1:13:07To total these up, it's either. Going to be like neck and neck
- 1:13:12or off by like 1000, yeah. Goodness.
- 1:13:23Does look, I know we've talked about it.
- 1:13:28I wonder if this name is? I wonder what you're going to
- 1:13:31say because I had a name and I was like, I may have to go to
- 1:13:33the committee for it. I know there's been a report.
- 1:13:36Been put out there, which we've talked about very recently, but
- 1:13:40I'm of the I'm of the belief that this is, is not settled.
- 1:13:45I think spring training is going to have a lot to say, or what
- 1:13:49happens in spring training is going to have a lot to say about
- 1:13:52who plays, where is Alex? Bregman.
- 1:13:55Allowed to be slotted in at third base.
- 1:13:58All out. All out.
- 1:14:00Because I and I'm not. Saying that just for the draft,
- 1:14:02I legitimately I don't. Think the Red Sox have come out
- 1:14:06and said it, and if anybody would know, you would know.
- 1:14:08So I mean passing did. Come out after the the deal
- 1:14:12happened and was like, who's he's project or he's like poised
- 1:14:16to be the second baseman. But I'm like, I, I don't think
- 1:14:19you can say that until at the very least, you've let spring
- 1:14:21training iron all out, all out. All right.
- 1:14:26I would go Breg Bregman. At third, another name.
- 1:14:29I won't. I won't say.
- 1:14:31I won't say the name I was. Well, no, I won't say the name I
- 1:14:36was thinking about because we could still fall back on it.
- 1:14:39I doubt it. But we could still fall back on
- 1:14:41it. Another name that came to mind.
- 1:14:44For me anyway. I just lost it.
- 1:14:49I had one. Oh yeah, I don't know if it's
- 1:14:54the same one, but I I too had another name.
- 1:14:57OK, who's got first pick here? I do you.
- 1:15:01Do give me a free space. Give me.
- 1:15:04A free space. Give me a free space.
- 1:15:09We did first base, so we've got center, 1st starting pitcher.
- 1:15:16Well, pitcher, we're only doing starting pitcher, catcher and
- 1:15:19third base did third. Base.
- 1:15:27My positional. Pick is left field.
- 1:15:38Give. Me
- 1:15:51now that's a got to think this one through left field, by the
- 1:16:01way, I'll allow it like if you need just to for the sake of
- 1:16:05time, if you need to pull up like a team's list, just just
- 1:16:09help help jog some memory here, because that's what I've got.
- 1:16:11I'm not I don't I'm not looking at personal.
- 1:16:13I'll show you what I'm going to pull up left field.
- 1:16:20Oh, sort of a this is this is what I.
- 1:16:27Got OK, ESPN just what is that just the ESPN?
- 1:16:30Like. Standings page.
- 1:16:32Oh, OK. That's what I like.
- 1:16:34There better not be any names. On that like.
- 1:16:37Highlighting any player, no. I'm saying but like highlighting
- 1:16:40like team leaders or anything. Oh.
- 1:16:44Left field. Question for the committee.
- 1:16:55Yeah. Which I don't even know where
- 1:16:59he's at, but I have to imagine it's it's.
- 1:17:02A lot. Where are we slotting?
- 1:17:07Soto in the outfield, we already talked about this.
- 1:17:11What's he projected left or right?
- 1:17:13It depends on who you look it up.
- 1:17:15With. What is roto wire telling me I.
- 1:17:18Think MLB has it as left, comma right.
- 1:17:24I think ESPN has right. Dude, this is oh man, I don't
- 1:17:41know if I'm going to regret this pick.
- 1:17:44Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I got it.
- 1:17:47I can I can I confirm if this sort of like I did with
- 1:17:52Mccutchen, Can I can I confirm with this player?
- 1:17:57If he did, I'm just saying. Like if you go.
- 1:17:59To his VR page. Like I feel like you got to be.
- 1:18:01I'm not looking. I promise you I won't.
- 1:18:03Look at his number. I No, no, I promise I won't look
- 1:18:05at the number. I I looked at Mccutchen's page,
- 1:18:07Couldn't tell you how many hits he had.
- 1:18:08I I, I swear on my life. I just want to make sure that
- 1:18:13this particular individual, because this would probably be
- 1:18:17my pick if so. Yeah.
- 1:18:24I'm. Give me.
- 1:18:30I'm going to go for me right now.
- 1:18:31I might go. Am I going to regret this?
- 1:18:41Does. Where where does he stand versus
- 1:18:43Soto? Although now we're I think we're
- 1:18:46going to put let's let's keep Soto and write.
- 1:18:49Yeah, if we even. Even if.
- 1:18:51You even want Soto you may not want so I don't know, I feel I
- 1:18:53feel good about. That I think Soto and Wright's
- 1:18:55fair I'm. Going to go Chris Bryant.
- 1:19:06And left. That could be.
- 1:19:07Sneaky. That's either a sneaky.
- 1:19:09Pole or a stupid mistake that could.
- 1:19:12Have won you or? Lost you the draft?
- 1:19:15I don't think so. I have.
- 1:19:16No names coming to. Mind, by the way, there is a
- 1:19:20name that's coming to. Mind similar vein could be
- 1:19:25sneaky, but I just don't know if the number is there.
- 1:19:28But in terms of tenure, in terms of posting, yeah, I'm giving
- 1:19:34you. Hints I shouldn't be?
- 1:19:35Doing this. I'll just say that the.
- 1:19:40Opportunities were there for this individual, but I'm not.
- 1:19:42I obviously can't tell who it is in case you would choose him.
- 1:19:53Why am I like? I'm struggling right now.
- 1:20:00No, no, no. Yeah, Outfield soft man it.
- 1:20:08Gets tricky because it's. Really tough guys, just like
- 1:20:10bounce around. Maybe this pick just.
- 1:20:22Won me the draft by default. If you can't, if you're going to
- 1:20:26throw some freaking. Scrub down.
- 1:20:33I had a name, but I'm like, I'm. It wasn't like a confident
- 1:20:38enough name to remember. Now I've lost it again.
- 1:20:52Question for the committee, I guess.
- 1:20:56Can I go? Kyle Schwarber?
- 1:20:59Yeah, for left. Yeah.
- 1:21:03Yeah, not a not a ton of. Hits doesn't.
- 1:21:11Doesn't get a ton? Sure.
- 1:21:12Not sure. Doesn't, but that's I mean.
- 1:21:16If you're trying to like I feel. Like I feel like.
- 1:21:18I really overlook some people. That's.
- 1:21:21I mean, yeah. And the people listening, the
- 1:21:23people watching, guess what we're going to be, we're going
- 1:21:26to be missing some real obvious names here, but that's that's.
- 1:21:30Off the Dome, like been around a minute because you can't just
- 1:21:33think of like the up like the new names.
- 1:21:36You can't think of the new names.
- 1:21:37You can't. Even think of the best players
- 1:21:39in baseball right now, you got to think of guys who have racked
- 1:21:42up the hits, who have posted and and had the games played to give
- 1:21:46themselves a chance to rack up hits AKA posting.
- 1:21:50As I said, the next position, who's you got first pick?
- 1:21:54I got first pick right field. Let me go around the
- 1:22:33Oh my. Gosh.
- 1:22:38Well, it's. Still, still fair game.
- 1:22:42Oh, that's a dagger. It's big.
- 1:22:46Oversight big. Oversight.
- 1:22:53Field. Dude.
- 1:23:02I'm just going to go Sodo. I'm going to try not to
- 1:23:06overthink it. Give me I'm.
- 1:23:19Trying to even think of like. I mean it.
- 1:23:24Who? Hold on.
- 1:23:26Who now? Doesn't play enough I guess.
- 1:23:29Give me. Give me.
- 1:23:35Judge. I mean 20. 17.
- 1:23:45The end of 20/17/20. 18 is the first full year, so that's seven
- 1:23:48years. I mean, it's not like chump
- 1:23:50change. I mean, I was.
- 1:23:54I was just. Trying to rack my brain for like
- 1:23:56a right field of this posted but I was like even if I could find
- 1:23:59somebody if like judge maybe had had accumulated more but I may
- 1:24:04be way off on that so. We will see We.
- 1:24:08Will see so second. Base shortstop and DH slash free
- 1:24:11space. I'm kind of hoping the free
- 1:24:15spaces. Last, I wonder if that name.
- 1:24:18Could have totaled up a decent amount, but it could.
- 1:24:23I got first pick here on. This next one, yeah.
- 1:24:27Yeah. All right.
- 1:24:27It is stop giving me catcher. You can't eliminate them.
- 1:24:38No it. Should second base OK second
- 1:24:43base? Second base.
- 1:24:57This is going to be 1 where I'm. Going to.
- 1:25:06Oh, is this? Individual still active.
- 1:25:27Second base question for the committee.
- 1:25:33OK, can I? Slot.
- 1:25:36In as a free agent who is yet to announce his retirement, which I
- 1:25:48I don't think it's coming. I think I know what you're
- 1:25:50doing. Yeah.
- 1:25:52Whit Merrifield. All right.
- 1:25:55I'll allow that because I have a a name that fits that same
- 1:25:58category, it's. Tougher, though, it's.
- 1:26:01A tougher play than Whit Merryfield.
- 1:26:03I mean, if he, if he. Whit Merryfield's good.
- 1:26:06As of right now, still. Active.
- 1:26:08So call it beating the buzzer. All right, since you got it.
- 1:26:11Pulled up, I don't feel like searching it.
- 1:26:14And also it's a it's a committee.
- 1:26:17Sure, Still active Robinson Cano dude, no.
- 1:26:24No, he's playing like in Saudi Arabia or something, isn't he?
- 1:26:29He's still swinging it. I was just.
- 1:26:30Was curious. Absolutely not all.
- 1:26:33Right then. Can I do Jose Altuve?
- 1:26:35Oh. Shoot, I think if if we're
- 1:26:41allowing. Mike Trout and McCutcheon to
- 1:26:43play center field. I feel like we got that that
- 1:26:45messed. Me up because I in my head I was
- 1:26:48like I was thinking. I was thinking the outfield,
- 1:26:51yeah, but then I forgot. We shifted geyser, whatever.
- 1:26:56That might have just closed the. Gap between our catchers.
- 1:27:02I mean, don't sleep on Whit Merrifield.
- 1:27:03Is, I mean, I know Altuve has got got the hits, but let's not
- 1:27:08sleep on all right, shortstop. I mean, Whit Merrifield was the
- 1:27:13hits leader. What?
- 1:27:14Every year for like 1/2 decade at least.
- 1:27:17Yeah, we'll. See, let me look at.
- 1:27:20I don't know about. That I mean.
- 1:27:22I feel like that was a bit of a stretch, but the OK the pick is.
- 1:27:25In I'm just looking. I'm looking at the black ink
- 1:27:27here. Right, it was.
- 1:27:36Two years, but yeah, LED all the baseball. 2 years, you know,
- 1:27:45that's that's got to be worth something.
- 1:27:47Yeah, but yeah. Altuve.
- 1:27:50Yeah, good pick. Shoot dude, if I had Altuve a.
- 1:27:53A A draft is over, it's possible.
- 1:27:56I think. OK, what do we got left here?
- 1:27:59Shortstop DH free space. What do you know?
- 1:28:04Shortstop is. Next stop.
- 1:28:07And you have. 1st pick you do. No, I do.
- 1:28:11I'm sorry. No, I went with Merrifield.
- 1:28:13The worst is when you go 2nd and you and you win the pick.
- 1:28:20Like you went second there. You get out Tuve, you win the
- 1:28:23pick because I'm an idiot and forgot that he was eligible for
- 1:28:282nd and then you get to pick first.
- 1:28:35I'm going to bank on not. Overthinking it.
- 1:28:43I'm going to, I'm going to bank on not overthinking it and go
- 1:28:49Mookie, all right? I'm going to go, oh, there's Oh
- 1:29:06no, no, can't do. That I'm.
- 1:29:09Just talking between two names here.
- 1:29:18No, wait a minute. Wait a minute, hold on.
- 1:29:22There's a big oversight. I'm genuinely curious what?
- 1:29:35The hit What the difference in hit totals are for these two
- 1:29:37individuals? I don't.
- 1:29:44I don't foresee. You using them as free spaces?
- 1:29:47So I'm going to, I'm going to. I got my mind.
- 1:29:51Locked in on a free space? OK, I'm going to I'm.
- 1:29:53Going to request some gamesmanship here.
- 1:29:56And she's not stealing names from me, but I'm just.
- 1:29:59I like thinking out loud here, yeah.
- 1:30:02I I wonder if I. Can guess the two names but I'm
- 1:30:05it's your category so I can't well these.
- 1:30:09I'm not deciding between these. Two names.
- 1:30:10There are two people in the mix, but there's I would say there's
- 1:30:14probably 3 names I'm deciding between.
- 1:30:16There's three names that I have in my head.
- 1:30:18See if you can get all three. I would be.
- 1:30:21Curious to know the the difference in hit totals between
- 1:30:24Carlos Correa, that's why and Frankie Lindor that's two and.
- 1:30:29There's. 1/3 name in my head. But I agree that's a good
- 1:30:33question. The third name in your head I
- 1:30:35already. Know who it is?
- 1:30:36It's Dansby Swanson. Nope.
- 1:30:39Oh. It can't.
- 1:30:46It's not Trevor. Story.
- 1:30:47Nope. Yeah, no more help.
- 1:30:56And I don't know if you'd take him in above these guys anyway.
- 1:31:01At short. Yeah.
- 1:31:06I don't think I would take that. Oh.
- 1:31:08Oh. You're thinking.
- 1:31:10You're thinking Willy Adamas. Nope.
- 1:31:17No more helping I'm. Not helping you anymore?
- 1:31:19I'm not going to answer. Oh.
- 1:31:20Oh, right, right, right, right, right.
- 1:31:23I know exactly you're thinking of.
- 1:31:25Give me. If you go with his name, that's.
- 1:31:30The opposite of gamemanship. But how do I know what name
- 1:31:42you're thinking of you? Do.
- 1:31:47I don't. No, it actually could be one.
- 1:31:54Or no I I I genuinely don't IA name popped into my head when I
- 1:32:00started looking around the league but just go with a
- 1:32:02shortstop. We're over an hour and a half
- 1:32:05now. Give me.
- 1:32:13Give me Corey Seeger trade Turner was my.
- 1:32:19Other yeah, see exactly that. I thought I wasn't going to
- 1:32:22steal Corey Seeger because I'm like, you may not even be
- 1:32:24thinking of Corey Seeger. Yeah.
- 1:32:27All right. And start her off with the DH
- 1:32:30buddy. Who's your shortstop?
- 1:32:32Mookie. Mookie, the key to victory, it
- 1:32:36seems all right. You ready for this?
- 1:32:40Yeah, I think I know. You you have from me.
- 1:32:44You have no idea who I'm about to pick.
- 1:32:45I think you're going to steal it from me.
- 1:32:47Go ahead. You don't know who I'm going to
- 1:32:48pick. Go ahead, the free spot.
- 1:32:56We went right field, second base shorts.
- 1:33:00I don't know right, why I'm writing these down.
- 1:33:01Yeah, it doesn't matter. I don't need to make a graphic.
- 1:33:09Ready for this? Yeah.
- 1:33:17What team I? I honest, honest God, I know who
- 1:33:21I'm picking. No, I'm not doing this.
- 1:33:22Just say I know who I'm picking. All right?
- 1:33:25No, no. Or do I know who I'm picking?
- 1:33:36It's between two names. Give me.
- 1:33:50Carlos Santana. Wow, good.
- 1:33:53Pull. That was my safety net name.
- 1:33:59That was my safety net name. Great pull and I know who you're
- 1:34:02going. With who?
- 1:34:06Now I'm not doing this. Who are you going with?
- 1:34:10Free spot for. Mr. Freddie Freeman.
- 1:34:16Who I think has got to be. Near 2K and I'm actually, I was
- 1:34:19actually upset that I didn't pick him over Bryce Harper and I
- 1:34:24was like begging for the chips to fall to where I got DH first.
- 1:34:29But Carlos Santana was my fall back.
- 1:34:32Sneaky name dude I had in the hopper.
- 1:34:35Shoot Freddie. Freeman is actually the the
- 1:34:38current leader. Leader.
- 1:34:39Yeah. You want to know who's third,
- 1:34:43Carlos Santana or McCutcheon? All right.
- 1:34:46Hear me out. Actually, no, this is this is
- 1:34:50easy. We can we can tell you some some
- 1:34:52numbers here. Freddie Freeman has. 2267 OK.
- 1:34:59Are you? I'll just have you.
- 1:35:01Do the math. I'll I'll retrieve the numbers.
- 1:35:02You do the math. Jose Altuve 2232 Are you just
- 1:35:06doing my team or? I'm just doing.
- 1:35:08I'm going down the list here. And then we'll fill in the gaps
- 1:35:11elsewhere because I know we didn't get this whole list 2230.
- 1:35:142 for Altuve, Yeah. McCutcheon, 2152.
- 1:35:23Goldschmidt. 2056. Nice.
- 1:35:29Machado. 1900 even. Yep, neither of us picked Nolan.
- 1:35:37Arenado Carlos, San Carlos, Santana, 1789.
- 1:35:45Had a boy. None of us.
- 1:35:47Picked Jade. Charlie Blackman's on here, by
- 1:35:49the way. Don't know why he's on there.
- 1:35:50Yeah. Retired JD Martinez.
- 1:35:53Nobody picked third. Third, safety net.
- 1:35:55Name but my my second safety. Net was DJ Lemahieu, 1738.
- 1:36:01Whoa. It's a Xander Bogarts.
- 1:36:03Actually, it's short. Wow, that's surprising.
- 1:36:06Not gonna lie. Bryce Harper, 1670.
- 1:36:09OK. I had to say it I.
- 1:36:11Think you got me on this? Mike Trout, 1648.
- 1:36:18I'm not seeing any low. Numbers.
- 1:36:22Travis Arno could have. Been detrimental.
- 1:36:24I feel like that was true yeah. Maybe I, maybe I.
