Calgary’s massive water pipe replacement project is halfway done—and it’s about to get even more critical. The aging Bearspaw South feeder main, built in 1975 and dubbed “terminally ill,” has ruptured twice already, triggering water restrictions. A brand-new pipeline, running parallel and stretching from Montgomery to Bowness, is now being installed using high-tech micro-tunnelling and open-cut methods.
