- 0:08SPEAKER_00: That's why I always say a little three.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: I always say that.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Holly will go.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: There's a lot going on this week, to be fair.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: A lot going on this week.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Go.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Hey, Hollywood go.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Hey, Hollywood Go.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Go.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mike Blitz.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: I'm your host, Mike Wade, my co-host over there, Mike White.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: What's up, man?
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Happy Thursday.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Getting close to the end of the week.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: More football.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: How you doing, dude?
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: I'm doing great, man.
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: It started off rough this morning.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Um, but just hearing your voice, I'm feeling good vibes now.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: Love that.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Love that.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, man.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Thursday.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: It's sunny.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: It's a nice, cool fall, refreshing, crisp.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: No, it's 82 degrees in Richmond, Virginia.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: It is disgusting outside.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: I'm wearing pants.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: It feels like a mistake, and it's November 7th.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Get together, weather.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Terrible.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: It's terrible.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Leaves are falling everywhere, and I'm sweating my brains out.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: No good.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Uh, other than the terrible weather and the leaves, um, what's to do with you, man?
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: This is the last time we talked, we did a little Halloween debrief for you at these days.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, coming off a beautiful weekend with the family.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: Celebrated Archie's fourth birthday.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Um, rented a little um a little farmhouse in Bedford, Virginia.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Nice, and spent a ton of time with the farm animals and then went and hiked Sharp Sharp Top Mountain.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: Uh, and both boys, a four-year-old and a two-year-old, hiked to the top of this mountain by themselves.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: That's what I'm talking about.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: Coming down was a little different.
- 1:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a little dicey, but uh super proud of them, man.
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: They did awesome.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: It was really, really good trip for the fam.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: That's an incredible accomplishment for two boys that age.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: I'll mean I'll say until I'm blue in the face.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: Like hiking down is harder than hiking up.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Just the the weight, the your knees, like, no, I get that.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: And obviously, attitudes were attitude morale as low.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I get you.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, quit while you're ahead.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: No, I tell you, that's awesome.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: That sounds like an amazing weekend.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: I didn't do much this weekend, hung out, the family, uh, sports.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: I do have a funny story though.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: So um, this is my daughter's last week of soccer, and for their very last practice, uh, which was uh on Monday, it's tradition to have the whole last practice be a scrimmage against the parents.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: So it was me and like six other dads and one mom against 17 nine-year-olds for an hour playing full field soccer, which I haven't played soccer organized or disorganized in ages.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Mike, let me tell you, we smoked those fools five to one.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: It was awesome.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: How did you only score five?
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: They're good, and there's so many of them.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: A couple of them, a couple of them were fast, and obviously we were out of juice.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: Um, but our defense was just incredible.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: We were just that was a thing.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Like we had like a little back line defense where a couple dads just kind of hung back, and you know, we figured out pretty quickly that as they stretched the defense, as they stretched the fields, we couldn't we couldn't hang.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: So we kind of still do our lockdown defense and shut them down.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: So uh another big win for the dads and moms, and uh, you know, next year it'll be that much harder.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: One of these years, they're gonna blow us out of water.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Like it's it's coming, it just hasn't happened yet.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Good for you, man.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: I feel really good about that.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: So that's my comp.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: So you and I was there at ACL.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and nobody got hurt that I know of.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: So big accomplishment for you, family hiking, me, beating 16, nine-year-olds, soccer.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Everybody wins.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Uh, good stuff.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: All right, quickly.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: So we're really late, so we're not gonna do much in terms of last week.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Just a couple quick notes.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: Uh, then there were five undefeated teams left.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, Oregon, Indiana, BYU, Army, Miami, Pitt, and Penn State go down.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Kent State, only winless team 0-8.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: Don't worry, Mike.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: They got a great shot against Akron, week 13.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: So keep your eye on that.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, make sure we have those winless teams coming in.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: Louisiana Lafayette, uh, sneaky 7-1 might win the Sunbelts.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm only mentioning them because we've talked a lot about other G5 playoff spots, and they uh they only lost a close one to Tulane, one of the better G5 schools.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Half to run the table, half to win the conference, and probably has to get a little help from Boise losing, Army losing, Tulane losing.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: But, you know, don't the Rage and Cajuns, there might be a Sunbelt, Sunbelt chance.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Uh, so uh there's that.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we're still there's still a lot of teams like that that are that still have hope, that still have something to play for, that are still in the conversation, you know, need some things to fall their way, but very much alive.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: Very much.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Uh, shout out to Mizoo, uh, the only team to fall out of the AP top 25 on a bye week.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: They didn't even play and they still were in it and then fell back out.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: That is a credit.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: They deserves to fall out to be to be there.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: You know, you had a bad week of practice, and people saw they saw clips on Twitter, and Brady Cook might have been still hurt.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: So obviously, you you're out.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: So they went from 25 to unranked on their bye week.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: I don't think I've ever seen that.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: I think we've ever seen a team fall out not playing football.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: That's um tough luck.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Drop in the rankings on a bye week.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I mean it's pretty often.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Falling out feels like a new level of disrespect.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: Like, I understand like bumping like a couple squads, like 12 to 14, but the unranked badge is uh it's tough luck, it's tough, it's tough.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Um weird year for the Heisman.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Um, we are seeing a ton of running backs get have monster years, and this is a year that none of them getting talked about.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Caleb Johnson, 1279 yards, seven and a half yards carry, 19 touches.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: Iowa killing it.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: Dylan Sampson, your boy, 980, 5.7 per touch, 19 touchdowns.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: I think he's gonna set or break Tennessee's all-time record here.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: I think he maybe just did.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: He just did.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: Just did very nice.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: RJ Harvey, UCF, 1201 yards, seven yards, 16 touchdowns.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: Amari and Hampton, which is the only star on the UNC football team, 1178 yards, five and a half, 13 touchdowns.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: These are all outstanding backs.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: We are seeing, and that's not even mentioning Isaac Wilson, Taj Brooks, other guys who are doing great things.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: Like, this has been a weird year for running backs because Ashton Genty has taken the air completely out of the room.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: All these great running backs.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: Give me your running back.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: And he's not even getting enough love.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: No, he's not.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: So I don't, I don't, yeah, I don't know what to make of it.
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, uh, when we're talking about stats, I will say Case Keenum, the all-time touchdown leader for uh passing touchdowns.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh Dylan Gabriel, one touchdown behind him.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: So when you think about the career he's had and what Case Keenum did at Houston, which was a completely different environment.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: Um, they were running an air raid.
- 6:17SPEAKER_02: Times were different back then.
- 6:19SPEAKER_02: Um they they were the only ones doing what they're doing.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: Now, you know, now the the both college ball and uh the NFL are running a much past happier offense.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: But very interesting to see Dylan Gabriel about to break a record of his own.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Well, as that's what you do when you be in if you're in college for 17 years, eventually you break records.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: I think he started his career at UCF.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Is that right?
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: I think it was UCF, then Oklahoma, now Oregon, and now now he might win the Heisman.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: So stay in the school, kids.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's the lesson.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: You'll get a degree and maybe multiple degrees, and you might break a record or two.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: So uh good on Dylan Gabriel.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, really quickly, uh, just gonna look back uh week 10.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: I know week 10 was five days ago for most folks.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: We all everybody knows all the outcomes.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: So I'm just gonna touch on a couple quick things.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Uh, Mike, uh Penn State loses to Ohio State again.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: This has taken up a lot of oxygen in the room this week, and it should.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: This has been James Franklin's just monster.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: He can't seem to beat the uh Ohio State beast, slay the dragon.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: Um, I think Penn State gets a yips when they do this.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: Mike, uh Penn State goes 11 and one.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: I think they'll run the table the rest of the year.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: They get to host a playoff game, which I think they're going to do and probably be in the top five to eight seeds.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: They lose that home playoff game.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Is James Franklin on the hot seat?
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't know.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't think so.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: I think next year we're looking you know, if he's on the doorstep again and doesn't get where I think this year making the the playoff is the goal for most teams, right?
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Like maybe not your Oregon, maybe Texas is disappointed by not winning the Natty.
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: I don't think Penn State is quite to that that point where not actually winning a national championship could be considered like a huge letdown, huge disappointment.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: Um looking at the big picture from that loss though, and looking at Penn State's schedule.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: Who have they beaten?
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: We've got to do it, we've got to start this conversation.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: I know that you were high, you were both high on Penn State last week.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: They dropped the ball against Ohio State, and frankly, didn't really look that good.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: No, no, that game was very winnable for a lot of reasons.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: Uh so the USC comeback was somewhat impressive on the road in So Cali, although they look really bad.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: They lost again.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: That's what I was gonna say.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: That's at the time, that was a big one.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: USC is now what?
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: Four and five.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: They're gonna get their uh brakes beaten off by Notre Dame.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: They might not even make a bowl, so they're in big trouble.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: Um, West Virginia going to Morgantown opening week was maybe a tough spot, although they're gonna fire Neil Brown, it sounds like there.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: West Virginia is really bottomed out as well.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: I mean, truthfully, off the top of my head, I would say Michigan's Michigan, Michigan State.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: I have no idea.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: What who is their best win?
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: I couldn't tell you.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: West Virginia is four and four.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: Um Illinois was a ranked win.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: Illinois is a solid win.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: Illinois, they're they're solid, they're okay.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: They're four and one.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: That's their best win.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: That's their best one.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: Four and one in big ten in Big Ten play.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I'll we'll give them that.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: But no, it's not, they don't they don't have any uh anything really to mark.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: So James Franklin's gonna have to get a big win at some point, and hopefully it's a home playoff game.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: I mean, going to Happy Valley at night in a playoffs with the eyes of college football on it, like if he gets if he gets to 11-1, I think he will, which will, I think, vault him to 5-2-8, which means hosting a home game against a Boise, a Tennessee, an LSU, uh Notre Dame, Indiana, somebody like that, like win that game, and then I think all is well in the world.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: But I just think given how he lost, and given he's gonna get another opportunity to make the playoffs, which is always a thing, like Penn State's never a top 14, they're always a top 12 team.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Like, if he loses again, he goes a whole other cycle season with not one big win to speak of, like, it's gonna get uncomfortable in Happy Valley, I think.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: Well, and they did kind of look out with with the scheduling this year.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Um you know, the Big Ten as a as a whole has gotten tougher.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: Um, they haven't had a lot of regular season tough regular season games.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: So next year you would think would be even more challenging.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: All right, that's enough, Penn State.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: Uh, let's move on.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: Uh Carson Beck got the win against uh Georgia, wounded Florida team.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: Uh DJ Lagway went down.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: This is his third three INT games.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: I'll only have one question for you.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: Is it time to bench Carson Beck?
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: No, I don't think I don't think he can.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't know who's behind him and what that guy looks like.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: I just assume it's a five-star.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: It's gotta be at least one of them.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: It's gotta be, it's gotta be a four-star, five star.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: Uh, but you know, they're still winning.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: He's shown he can do it.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: He has had a lot of problems turning the ball over.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: As a Tennessee fan, looking two weeks ahead, this is not a Georgia team, and maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not afraid of this matchup.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: I'm afraid of the environment.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: I'm afraid of you know Athens night game.
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm afraid of uh what Tennessee's offense is going to look like at the time.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: But when I look at on paper, the matchup does not scare me.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: And and we'll get into that later.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I think um Georgia was not extremely impressive in their win over Florida.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: Florida was right there for most of the game with their third string quarterback.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: The yield transfer, right?
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: I'm of the mind actually Florida wins that game.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: DJ Lagway doesn't get hurt.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: Uh the way the back was playing, I kind of I mean, we who we'll never know, but I'm no, I'm totally with you on that.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they it changed their offense.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: It changed what they could call, what they were running.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: Um, when when the backup had to come in, they still were able to dominate on the ground and move the ball and and and compete.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: And it was only a late, I think it was a late turnover that Georgia converted for points that ended up making that a little bit ugly.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: Very nice.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, what else can we say?
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: Uh moving on.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: Uh can you think of a better first year coaching job?
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: This was this was the question I was gonna pose to ask you and then did some research.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: And the truth was there's actually a lot of great answers.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: But Kirk Sidetti, first year coach at Indiana, blowing out everybody.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Can you think of when you when you think of first year coaches, can you think of many that have had really, really phenomenal seasons like him?
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, Sam Pittman, his first year at Arkansas.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, we talked about what Elko's done at AM.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: Um when uh what's his name went to Kansas, his first year of legal success, lay at Life Hold.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: So there's been some, but yeah, what he's what he's been doing with the help of uh a weaker schedule has been really impressive.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: Has him has him could right there looking at a national championship potentially.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: So I posed this question to you before I did my research, thinking like, is he the best first year coach of all time?
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: Well, maybe not.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: Larry Coker, 2001, won the national championship.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: Uh Chris Peterson, 13-0 at Boise, won the Fiesta, that crazy Statue Liberty play, I think it was.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: Urban Meyer went 12-0 in that ineligible Ohio State year.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: They couldn't even have a postseason, went 12-0.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: Gus Malzan, uh 2013, was a runner-up.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: And most recently, Sonny Dykes, 2022, TCU runner-up lost to Georgia by a million points.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: Georgia's still scoring in that game.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: So there have been some really, really impressive first-year coaches' jobs.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: But like, I think Kurt Signetti is on his way in this new brand of college football with the NIL collectives and the expanded playoffs.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: Like, if he gets an at-large playoff, even if he loses first round, I kind of think he's in that rare air of first year coaches.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: I don't think Indiana's win the national championship.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: So he's probably never gonna be Larry Coker or Urban Meyer 12-0.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: But like, I mean, Indiana gets the playoff and maybe wins one, like he's up there, right?
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: It yeah, it doesn't.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: If they get to the playoff, which they're pretty much poised to do, even if they lose state, even even if they get blown out at Ohio, uh at Ohio State, um, yeah, they're gonna get in, and then you're playing with house money.
- 14:12SPEAKER_02: So, you know, he it's been a really it's been kind of like a perfect storm for him and and that squad.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: And you look at their schedule, and good grief, what you wouldn't give to play that schedule.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: Uh, it's true.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: Uh let's keep it going.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: Uh Colorado, uh as a hot take for you, is gonna win the Big 12, and they are gonna be in the playoff.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: And I've tell you, Mike, I've come full come full circle on Colorado.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: I was hating them.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: The media was just terrible, it was annoying.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: It was Colorado, Colorado, Colorado, and honestly, they went four and eight and they played themselves off the radar.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: They are sitting at six and two, seven and two.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: They've got four games left.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: They are all very winnable, they're gonna be favorites in all of them.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: Iowa State and K-State both went down this week.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: I think they need one more loss from one of those teams, and all they have to do is win out and they are in.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: And honestly, if you give me Colorado against a BYU in a neutral site game, I'll take Shadur Sanders, who's the best quarterback in the country, doing the Travis Hunter against BYU, who I still don't think has any decent athletes.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm telling you, there is a world where Colorado is going to the playoff and the media storm, it's coming back, Mike.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Are you ready?
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: Um I guess I am.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: Um, I think I think what we talked about them, you know, early.
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: I think what what was there over under six or seven games?
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was get to a bowl.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: The goal was get to a bowl.
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and we thought six.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: Um another thing I'll say is they haven't had any dumb stuff to talk about.
- 15:38SPEAKER_02: It's kind of gotten to be a little bit more business-like over there.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: And so maybe what you're seeing on the field is a tiny bit result of that.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Maybe they've toned it down a little bit.
- 15:48SPEAKER_02: Um, maybe they're a little more focused.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: They've gotten way better.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, the thing, the funny thing is it's like for all their flash and prime is prime and coach prime, all the things, the celebrities, the sidelines, the big personality, the glasses, like they've actually gotten much better at all of the things that make good football teacher kind of boring.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: Running the ball, playing sound defense, tackling in space, protecting Shadora.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: Shadora, it's still not great.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: Shador still gets hit a lot, but like he's not getting murdered every game, which is what happened last year for 12 games.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: Like, they're doing all the things that they are good football teams doing, they're doing.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: So look at that.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: You win football games when that happens.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, I just I could I want to give Colorado some credit um because they are quietly getting better every week.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: And like you said, like no one's talking about it, no one's even thinking about Colorado.
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: And I could if they win again this week and they're looking at three games with a monster favorite, we're gonna be we're gonna start hearing some chirping out of Boulder.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and uh college football is just one of those things we've seen over the years many a mediocre coach get propped up by the best player at his at his position at quarterback, leading them to uh well beyond where he they probably should be.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: And so I'm not ready to give Dion all the credit yet.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: I think he's got a couple fantastic players, and whatever they're making it work.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: Uh I'll talk about the homers really quick.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Virginia Tech, uh, no toot, no Tutin, no drones, both hurt.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: I don't hate Colin Schley, but that was a brutal, brutal uh fourth quarter, third quarter collapse, ended up losing on the road at Syracuse, secondary breakdowns, poor tackling that just can't happen.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: This has got to be the most frustrating year for Virginia Tech Hokies.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: They are like one possession away, one score away from nine and oh.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: And instead, they're five and four.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: Brent Pry is now one in 11 in one score games.
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: Like he is the new Nebraska, he's the new Chris Frost, the new Matt Rule.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: Like what Virginia Tech is doing.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously, the the double overtime loss to Vandy, the near comeback Rutgers, the Hail Mary shenanigans, shenanigans, Miami.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: And this last week, when they were up by I think 18 with like halfway through the third, they lose like five and four turnovers.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't like turnovers, backups playing.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: Like it just that's that's just gotta be such a tough pill to swallow for our hokey brethren.
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: Do you think that this the and the fashion in which they have lost these games gives you a little bit gives more pride kind of the benefit of the doubt as far as next season goes?
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: What how do you feel?
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: How are you?
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: Are you buying stock?
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: You selling?
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm high.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: I'm up.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think I think this is negative variance.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think when you're that close, obviously, given where they were in the Fuente years and prize first year, like they are clearly making strides.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: Recruiting's getting better.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: I think I saw their last class ranking as like 35, but it's not we're probably not where tech should be, but it's getting better.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: They're clearly developing talent.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: They've done what they really have is an identity, as is with drones and Tutin running the ball so well, like and they're and they've got a great pass rush.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: I like the way things are going.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: As a hookie fan, I would be so disappointed being five and four.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: When I mean, like, you know, you split those four games and you're seven and two, and then like you're still in the playoff hunt, you're right where you should be, but everything has gone against them in this year.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: So I hope the Hokie faithful are not throwing him overboard because I don't think that I don't think they should.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: I don't think.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, I agree with you.
- 19:02SPEAKER_02: I agree with you wholeheartedly.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: I think they've done a good job, and a lot of times you see this year over year.
- 19:06SPEAKER_02: It's not immediate success, it's like a more gradual, like you get two wins more, you get two more wins, and then you know, and then the margins are so thin, you know, it's yeah, it looks like they're headed in the right direction.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and Colin Schley, yeah, the backup didn't play terrible.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: So there are there are some things in in place.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: I wonder how much uh eligibility, like if they'll get if they'll get drones and Tutin back.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: Because if they are, then like you gotta be bullish on them in the what we now see as a not good ACC uh football conference.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: Uh UVA and LSU were on a bye.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: Uh Kentucky uh at Tennessee, Kentucky was winning at the halftime.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: Um uh I had I I know you could talk all about it.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: I kind of have two everybody knows what happened.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Tennessee came back and won, looked much better in the second half.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: Two questions for you.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: Um, one, why doesn't UT run more hurry up with Nico?
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Why don't you think they do like I thought they did that really well with uh Hooker and Wright and Tillman?
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Like what how come you're not doing that more with Nico, you think?
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: Um, I think it's all kind of circumstantial.
- 20:05SPEAKER_02: Um, there have been a lot of things, so they don't always just run hurry up.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: You see them run it after they pick up a first down, if they pop a run.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: Um, it's very strategic in how they do it, and they're just not not really clicking on all cylinders to get into those situations as much.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: Advantageously.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: You're also seeing a lot of um offensive line penalties, a holding, you know, you're not running hurry up if you're moving backwards.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: Um, and then you know, it it does happen a couple times a game where we start to get into a hurry up rhythm and you see a defensive lineman go down or somebody in the secondary fake an injury.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: And um, you know, that does happen.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: It happens probably twice a game.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: Um, when once we see our our offense start getting into a little bit of a rhythm.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Um, so it's a little bit of everything, uh, but it does benefit Nico certainly to see him get and just get out there and play ball and not think so much.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: So definitely like to see more of that if they can get into it.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: Speaking of which, I thought Nico looked better.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: Uh, I thought that was one of one better games, especially in the second half.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, he played great.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, my only my only real takeaway other note about that game was I thought I said questions, not really question, is the UT playmakers on the outside have got to help him out.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: If the if if there was, I mean, I saw at least two touchdowns and multiple other balls that were just dropped.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: If those balls are caught, we're talking about a Nico blowout, we're talking about a Nico coming out party, we're talking about a oh, this is what we were supposed to see, you know.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: The well preseason, this is kind of what we were expecting.
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: I was disappointed that so many playmakes, so many guys, and I think UTS talent out there just weren't able to bring bring those balls down.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: Any any thoughts on that?
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's kind of been the story all year.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: You know, we've been very close to to watching this thing.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: We've seen the the kind of the spark, but we haven't seen the light fully come on.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: And every single time it's been something just slightly different.
- 21:58SPEAKER_02: The good news is um the light does seem to be staying on for Nico.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: I think he's 75% um since the second half against Bama.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: He could have easily two catches that were dropped.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: Um, he could have easily gone for 400 and three touchdowns.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: We also missed three field goals.
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: I mean, that game could have very easily been like a 40 plus point blowout.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: So I'm still this is not the finished product yet.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: And um, I think they are getting better and better and kind of figuring out um how to work through some of the flaws uh that this team has.
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: Uh especially like the 12 personnel that they're running, tight ends are starting to be major contributors.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: And I think we'll see more of that um in Athens uh two weeks from now.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: It feels like a story that we've kind of been saying all season, you know, and and to UT's advantage, they've gotten away with it.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: They got, I mean, they're seven and one, they're winning a lot of football games, obviously.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: Um, Arkansas being the only slip-up so far.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Like every game, it feels like, oh man, they're like two inches away from clicking.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: And like, you know, when you're that close and Hypel's coaching and developing the season, teams get better, teams are allowed to improve.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: Like, we're a week away.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Because if I do, I still believe it.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: If this team does hit its drive and those deep balls do start connecting, and those false starts and silly holding penalties end, and Nico doesn't get rattled, maybe like it did in the Arkansas game.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: Like, I think UT can threaten for anything they want to do.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: I think beating Georgia, I think winning road playoff games, it's all it's all back on the table.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: It just seems like Tennessee's gotta get there and they're close.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: So I'm I'm still bullish on the balls.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: Um, but I'd love to see it.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: I'd love to see I'd love to see them win by Mississippi State by 40 points.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: Is that too much of a game?
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they've got a defense that has held their opponents to under 20 points in every game this season.
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: They're only the fifth team since 2000 to hold each of its first seven opponents under 20.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: Do you know who the previous four are?
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: All one national titles.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, I was gonna say oh yeah, yep, 2011, Bama, 2012, Bama, 2021, Georgia.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: Aha, yeah.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: I said it gotta be at least one or two Bama's in there.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: I thought when you're talking about a recipe for success, um they've got one very big component to that.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, very bullish on Tennessee's defense.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: All right, very good.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: Anything else on um oh oh what's we didn't talk about the um college football playoff rankings.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: So rankings came out obviously on Tuesday, same as election night.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: Uh, so uh doesn't mean a lot because it's gonna change a bunch.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: Um, I'll be honest with you.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: I for I know a lot of teams are still alive.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: I know there's a lot to be, I know a lot to happen.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: I kind of think we're pretty settled in terms of like what's gonna happen.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: And here's why I say that we know the four big tens that are good things are going: Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Indiana.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: They're all they're all gonna get in.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: Um, we know at least two of the SEC teams, probably Georgia and Texas, are gonna get in.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: There's gonna be a fight for Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Ole Mits for those, probably third and maybe fourth slot.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: Uh ACC and Big 12 are both looking like one-team leagues.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: Uh Notre Dame and the uh G5, which I think was gonna be boisey.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, we're for all we're talking about.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: I was looking, I lost those rankings, and I'm thinking, like, we're pretty close to kind of knowing who's gonna be there.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: Um, any initial thoughts, uh takeaways?
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: That was my biggest takeaway.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: I was like, I actually think people were like, Oh, there's still a lot can happen, but like I'm starting to think with pitch structure coming pretty clear.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 25:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, when you look at the scheduling and you kind of zero in on each team, you know, barring chaos, you kind of there's you know, for a lot of these teams, there might be one big test left.
- 25:21SPEAKER_02: And given on where they're ranked right now, you've got a team like you know, Penn State, for example, um, coming off their loss at the number six spot.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: And you know, even if they they drop one more, you gotta think.
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: Given the position where they are right now, they're probably staying in.
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: Uh Notre Dame, you know, look as everyone just forgetting that they lost to northern Illinois.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: Nobody cares anymore.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: Nobody cares, nobody cares.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: Nobody cares for that's that happened last season.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: They're that number 10 spot, so they're yeah, they're a one-loss team, but um, they're you know, unless they drop to Army or UVA, never know.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: You're fighting what who's a chance?
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: Um, I just yeah, I feel like Notre Dame 11-1 is in.
- 26:01SPEAKER_01: It feels like Penn State's 11-1 is gonna host the game, like Indiana probably lose Ohio State.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm I'm assuming Georgia is gonna win out, no disrespect.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: I'm assuming Tennessee is gonna win out, except for Georgia and gonna get there.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: Like, I could draw you a map of like who I think is gonna be there.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think it's gonna be pretty close.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: But every time we say that, college football gives us these amazing weeks of football when all kinds of pretty things happen.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: I should know better, but I don't.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: So um we'll see.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm a little uh a little bummed for my um Wazoo fans, ranked 21, you know, with with what's they're sitting 7-1, 21st in schedule.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: They're obviously playing the pack two, which uh college football football playoff committee does not recognize as a legitimate legitimate conference because what only has two teams.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: They don't have enough to get there, they're gonna go 11 and 1 this year, which is pretty darn great given everything that's happened to them.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: Um, and they're not gonna be left out.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna continue to boohoo um for my Washington State, Oregon State brethren.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: Keep fighting the good fights, uh, pack two.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: Um boohoo wazoo.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: Boohoo wazoo.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: It's literally it's literally all I got.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: Any more uh confootball thoughts before we jump into week 11?
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: No, I'll be uh it'll be a different, it'll be fun to watch this play out and talk about week after week after week.
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: Uh and it'll be interesting to see what the narrative is for next week, uh what they hone in on.
- 27:13SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be something different every week.
- 27:15SPEAKER_02: They can literally, you know, they're gonna jump through hoops to make it however they want to make it.
- 27:21SPEAKER_02: But the good news is mostly it's all gonna play out on the field.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's true.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: Everyone, with a couple exceptions, are gonna have their shot.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: And we're gonna be having these debates about like a 11-1 SMU against a 10-in-2 LSM like that.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: What's really interesting is they're all of the decision making, of course, done behind closed doors.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: When you when you're splitting hairs between those who's gonna host, it's it's really just who do they want to see host the game, right?
- 27:52SPEAKER_02: Like it's yeah, because you're talking about the difference between you know a seating level.
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: So it's that is gonna be interesting to see because that's gonna be completely money-driven, right?
- 28:04SPEAKER_02: Like if it's Indiana.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: Oh, I hear what you're saying.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: You think they're gonna manipulate Penn State hosting the game.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: You think they're gonna manipulate the state.
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: Who do you think they're gonna give it to?
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Penn State, right?
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: Probably like Indiana's probably gonna be like the nine seed, not good enough to host a game, but good enough to go somewhere because I mean they're not like a kind of a helmet blue chip program.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm expecting I think you're right.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna be really exciting to see.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm Tennessee, Penn State, um, maybe a Miami, like host a home playoff game and see who gets there.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: And these, you know, iconic historic stadiums.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Um, they're gonna be big time matchups and kind of how those all filter through.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: But we got time, we got time to figure all that out.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: Uh, anything else on college football playoff rankings, sir?
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: No, let's jump into this next week.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: Cool, let's do it.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: Week 11.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, can't believe it's week 11.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: We're on double-digit weeks.
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: That sucks, college football.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: It's so sad.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: So, so sad.
- 28:53SPEAKER_01: Uh, so this is where Mike and I do some picks.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: Uh, as you know, every pick that Mike and I agree on, we throw into the Mike Blitz bet of the week.
- 29:01SPEAKER_01: We'll be sure to put that on the Discord, post all the places.
- 29:03SPEAKER_01: Obviously, we'll uh be sure to tail us.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: We've had some crazy success this year already.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: Maybe we'll hit another this week.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: We'll see.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: Uh, University of Florida, um, at number five, Texas.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: Texas is 21 and a half point favorite, 47 and a half point uh spread.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: Um, despite DJ Lagway going down in the Georgia game, they're saying maybe he's gonna play.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: Um, but I don't think they're gonna rush him back.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: Give me your Florida Texas takes.
- 29:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, if Lagway plays, I like Florida to cover here for sure.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: Um, if not, I think it could get ugly.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: Um, I just don't think they they can sustain four quarters without him.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: And I think he's probably pretty doubtful.
- 29:40SPEAKER_02: Like there was some vague wording, you know, we're not ruling him out kind of stuff, but um I wouldn't bet on that.
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: And it's at Texas, so I kind of like Texas to cover here, especially if Florida's without their quarterback.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: I love Texas to cover.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: Give me Texas Myers, whatever.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: There's no see here's my thing.
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: Now that they Billy Napier has reinstated, not they've been reinstated, you know, Scott Strickland, the Florida AD, has said we're keeping him, like he's bought himself some time.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: They like what they've seen enough through the they're not, there's no reason to rush Lagway back.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: This is an awful spot.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: They know they're gonna lose.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: The administration has kind of given them permission to lose.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: So I'm thinking Lagway's chance of playing are pretty low zero.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: And in that case, third string graduate transfer Yale quarterback for Florida at Texas.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're not gonna score 10 points.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: I got Texas minus whatever.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: So Texas, I'm yeah, I like that.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: Okay, and I think they I'd be bullish on on Florida if Lagway was in.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: I think they'd have a lot more fight, they're a lot more dynamic.
- 30:32SPEAKER_02: He's a playmaker, but yeah, without him, it could be ugly.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: All right, so we're taking Texas minus two minus Texas to cover at home.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: Bang, love it.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: All right, number two, Georgia, minus two and a half at number 16, Ole Miss the Grove, uh over under his 54 and a half points.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'll start with my take on this one.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: You can jump into it.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm really worried about Ole Miss's offensive line getting overwhelmed.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: I think Georgia uh just I think they're unblockable when they decide to play.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: When they really put when those guys are getting after it, I think they don't have it.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: And honestly, LSU had a lot of success rushing on this offensive line.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: Um, I think Draftkins are really good.
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: Maybe the best quarterback in the SEC right now are him or him or Nuss.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: Um, they're gonna score.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: And you know, what we've seen with Beck has been really erratic.
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: But the only thing like in this situation that I really trust um is gotta be Georgia's defensive line.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: So I'm kind of leaning that way, but like, I don't know, talk me out of that.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: What do you got?
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: No, I think um I really don't have a strong read on this game.
- 31:31SPEAKER_02: Um, if it were in in Athens, I would take Georgia to cover that for sure.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: Um, in the Grove, I think this could be a tough one.
- 31:38SPEAKER_02: I could see it kind of going either way.
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: I actually really like the over here.
- 31:41SPEAKER_02: Uh over under is 54 and a half, and I think um I do think Ole Miss will hit on a few plays, and I think Georgia's good enough to to hang around as well.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: And and that seems just like a low under for me.
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: So uh I'll take the overall.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: So we're going you were going Georgia over 54 and a half.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'll take that.
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: No, I'm I could I can certainly see that.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: And honestly, like I can also see Lane's gonna do them hurry up stuff.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: Jackson Dart's gonna air it out.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: I know they're missing Trey Harris, but they still have guys, Juice Wells is active, they still make a lot of plays.
- 32:09SPEAKER_01: Carson Beck is gonna be slinging it.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: He might be throwing to the other team, might be some inner pick sixes in here.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, let's go with that.
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: Um, maybe it's I can see this being a little bit of a wild game, yeah.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: And it's gonna it's gonna be it's gonna have a lot of attention on it.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: So let's do that.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, Michigan at number eight, Indiana.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: Indiana's minus 14, 14-point favorites over under 48 and a half.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: Why are we fading Indiana anymore?
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: Like, can you give me there?
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: I think they're eight and oh after the spread this year.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: Um I they've they've trailed once all year.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: Is there any reason not to think this happens again?
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: Uh no, I don't I don't think so.
- 32:43SPEAKER_02: The only thing that would give me pause is I would I would probably put this at about a 10-point game.
- 32:48SPEAKER_02: It's at Indiana, though.
- 32:49SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I could see them covering that.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: You want to jump in on that?
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: Or you wanna do, I mean, yeah, I mean I mean, Davis, they they figured some things out with Davis Warren offense in the Oregon game.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: So, like, Michigan has some semblance of an identity, but like I'm really just like this game's in Bloomington, and all they've done with Kirk Snetty is murder everybody.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: Like, what I I get Michigan is probably the most talented roster, although I think they're missing Will Johnson.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: So, like, that's a real thing, as we know.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: But like, I mean, maybe maybe maybe that's maybe it's a talent thing.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: Maybe we stay away from that reason.
- 33:20SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't want to bet on Michigan.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: I'm not betting on Michigan.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: I can't.
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, I will I wasn't thinking that.
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: Um, my question is just how you know, did does Indiana pull out a 10-point game or do they beat him by 17?
- 33:30SPEAKER_02: That I don't know.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: I mean, this but this feels like a stay away to me, though, because I feel like we're not, I think we're both on Indiana.
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: All right, stay away.
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: We're gonna get we're gonna lay off that one.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: Um, number four, Miami, 11-point favorites at Georgia Tech.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: You're in my favorite Hornets Nest.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: We talk about it all the time.
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: Over under 63 and a half literal Hornets, literal Hornets theft.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: Haynes King, I think, is going to play, who is Georgia Tech's quarterback, who I actually think is pretty good.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: And Miami's defense is awful.
- 33:55SPEAKER_01: They are so bad.
- 33:57SPEAKER_01: This is why I think Miami can't win now.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: The defense is so atrocious.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: Duke went up and down the field on them last week.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: They lost by three scores because there were two interceptions, but Georgia Tech's not gonna do that.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: They're gonna get up, and their defense is abysmal.
- 34:09SPEAKER_01: This is their on the road, it's a tough spot.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: I don't have any faith in Christopher.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: I'm like a Georgia Tech plus 11.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: Uh, I can you can you get behind Haynes King and the and the goal which you got?
- 34:20SPEAKER_02: No, I like I like Miami to cover this game.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: I don't I like Haynes King and I'm with you.
- 34:25SPEAKER_02: Um, I think he's hopeful to play.
- 34:27SPEAKER_02: I don't, I don't I don't think he's it's not a sure thing.
- 34:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: So and that does give me I'll I'll say that does give me major pause because if he doesn't if he doesn't play, then uh oh Nelly, that's uh not good.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: Not good.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: So is are are we are we thinking skip this one?
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, I could I can see Miami covering, or if you want to if you're not on board, you can skip it.
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: And remember, we have to both agree.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: So don't let me convince you.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: I get just I'm Miami on the road with that, which is just an atrocious defense.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: Nah, I think we're staying away.
- 35:01SPEAKER_01: I can't, I can't, I can't do that.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: Over under 63 and a half.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, do you like is this gonna be a I can't, I don't know, I don't know if this is gonna be high-scoring fair, low scoring fair.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: George Tech gonna try and shorten this game and play protect kind of play like protect the ball.
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: Is Cam Ward just gonna throw the ball to both teams a lot?
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: And like I, you know, I don't I don't have a gut feeling either way.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: I love George Tech of Han's King as playing.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: If Hank King doesn't play, then they're in big trouble.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, stay in a way.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: Stay in a way.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: Minnesota minus six at your favorite team, ruckers fighting Greg Cianos.
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: Minnesota is good, they are put something together.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: I think Rutgers is just out-of-party tricks.
- 35:38SPEAKER_01: I kind of think they've cashed it.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: Wait, what?
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: Say that again.
- 35:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 35:41SPEAKER_01: Oh no, I know.
- 35:42SPEAKER_01: Um, Minnesota is one of the best, it's just turning out to be one of the better, more solid teams.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: I like what they did against Illinois last week, and Rutgers just doesn't have any fight left in them.
- 35:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, who are we getting?
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I got Minnesota minus six.
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: They I think they would cover double digits, frankly.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, give me Minnesota minus six.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Minnesota minus six.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: All right, I agree.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: Uh Iowa State minus three at Kansas.
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: Iowa State coming off that tough loss.
- 36:04SPEAKER_01: Um, Kansas uh has been up and down.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: I think they're four and four sitting around overnight 49 and a half.
- 36:10SPEAKER_01: Um, bounce back spot for Iowa State or tough road spot for Kansas.
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: Uh sell me on your on your what do you think?
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: I do, I do.
- 36:19SPEAKER_02: I kind of like um Iowa State in a bounce back spot.
- 36:22SPEAKER_02: Um, it's a three-point spread, but I think they cover that in one, even though it's on the road at Kansas.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: I think their backs are against the wall, and I honestly I think this is a spot, I think this is a team that they have to beat.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: Um, I think they still have chance, hopes of getting back to the playoff and getting back in the Big 12 mix.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: And I think they're kind of backs against the wall.
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: They kind of they were kind of giving their mulligan against Texas.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: Wounded animal mode.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: Wounded animal mode.
- 36:44SPEAKER_02: They're still right there with it.
- 36:45SPEAKER_02: They need this one.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm gonna go give Iowa State minus three to cover as well.
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: All right, good stuff.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: So we've got so far we've got Texas covering Minnesota, Iowa, and then the old miss Georgia over.
- 36:55SPEAKER_01: What's next?
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: Um, Oklahoma uh was minus one, now minus two and a half at Mizzou, 42 and a half.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: Brady Cook playing, they're still not sure about that.
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: Um, I think I like Oklahoma either way.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: Missouri's bad.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think Jackson Arnold and Oklahoma's kind of figured some things out, and they're getting healthier, obviously.
- 37:15SPEAKER_01: Other all their wide receivers are out, and they're a more talented team than Missouri.
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: They have they have more talent.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: And if it's Drew, if if the if Missouri has to trot either a wounded Brady Cook or Drew Pine back out there, there is nothing to like about Missouri.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: This in this current the 2024 year of our lord.
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: Um what give me talk me off of Oklahoma just smothering Missouri?
- 37:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't know.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: I I don't think anyone has been able to get a real read on either of these teams.
- 37:42SPEAKER_02: I think Oklahoma clearly has a higher upside.
- 37:45SPEAKER_02: They've been dealing with their issues on offense, their defense has been really good.
- 37:48SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 37:49SPEAKER_02: Um, Missouri has been a paper tiger all year.
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: We've talked about that.
- 37:53SPEAKER_02: And I just don't feel strongly about either one of these teams and where they are right now to know what you're really gonna get out of them week to week.
- 38:01SPEAKER_01: So the spread, I will say this the spread continues to move up.
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: So it's move so that I mean that really screams to me that Brady Cook is not playing.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: So here's let me let me let me pitch this to you.
- 38:09SPEAKER_01: If Brady Cook isn't playing, do you have any hesitation betting Oklahoma to cover three points?
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: That's that's what the Vegas is telling us that he's not gonna play.
- 38:18SPEAKER_02: Um, yes, I still have I still have some hesitancy because I don't trust Oklahoma on offense.
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: All right, fine.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: All right, we'll we'll we will we will bow out Colorado, number 21, minus three and a half at Texas Tech.
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: Texas Tech coming off a huge win, 62 and a half.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: I don't know how Texas Tech won that game.
- 38:35SPEAKER_01: They have no pass rush, and their secondary is atrocious.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: Colorado coming off a bye, healthy, really good, doing much better protecting Shadur Sanders.
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: And honestly, Travis Hunter, um, Jimmy Horn, they've got playmakers outside.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: I can't for the life of me figure out find figure out any reason why Colorado doesn't win this game by 10 points.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: I love the buffs in this spot here um at Texas Tech.
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: I know Lubbock is nuts, I get that, and Barron Morton's been better, Taj Boyd's been better, but Colorado coming off a bye.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: They have the best quarterback in the country and honestly, maybe the best outside playmaker.
- 39:09SPEAKER_01: I any reason to think Texas Tech, other than being home, that you love?
- 39:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, give me so last week.
- 39:15SPEAKER_02: I think Texas Tech was was a bit of an aberration.
- 39:18SPEAKER_02: I think it was kind of a Super Bowl.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: They got up for that, they beat you know an 11-ranked Iowa State team, um, which puts them in kind of a bad spot for this game.
- 39:26SPEAKER_02: I think they're riding high, they're not quite prepared.
- 39:29SPEAKER_02: I do like Colorado.
- 39:30SPEAKER_02: I just think it's a spot situation, and Texas Tech played way over their heads last week, so they're due for a regression this week.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: Carlos actually moved already to minus four.
- 39:39SPEAKER_01: So Vegas agrees.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: So we're getting some love with the line movement.
- 39:41SPEAKER_01: We're getting some line agreement on that.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: All right, we're taking Colorado to cover that.
- 39:45SPEAKER_01: Uh, South Carolina, this game is I I'm gonna need your help with this one.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: South Carolina, minus three and a half, coming off an incredible, incredible win at Texas AM.
- 39:53SPEAKER_01: Um, um, at number 24, Vandy.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: Vanderbilt, ranked Vandy going to the um half-built construction war zone Hornets test.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: That is Vanderbilt Stadium, 45 and a half point over under.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: Uh Lenora Sellers was was a man was a man last week.
- 40:10SPEAKER_01: Um, I at f against X Sandman home.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: Diego Pavia has been a revelation this year, like three and a half points.
- 40:19SPEAKER_01: I I I don't know, man.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: I feel I feel I feel like Vegas is begging us to take Vandy plus three and a half because they're giving us that hook, which kind of makes me want to bet South Carolina.
- 40:30SPEAKER_01: What do you got?
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: If you're asking me who I think wins this game, I kind of think it's South Carolina.
- 40:36SPEAKER_02: If I think they can cover four and a half, three and a half.
- 40:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I think it all comes down to me with South Carolina has a fantastic defensive line.
- 40:45SPEAKER_02: They're gonna have to contain Pavia, but they're gonna be in his grill all day long.
- 40:49SPEAKER_02: So I think that he makes some he makes some unfortunate mistakes.
- 40:53SPEAKER_02: I I think I I kind of I'm riding with South Carolina on this one.
- 40:56SPEAKER_02: Um, it's not a strong feeling.
- 40:58SPEAKER_02: I think that they are kind of surging and um with their D-line, I think that's gonna travel and they've got better athletes.
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: So it's really gonna be the Pavia show if they're gonna pull it off uh for Vanity.
- 41:11SPEAKER_02: And I just don't think that they do.
- 41:13SPEAKER_01: No, I'm I'm with you.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: I'm South Carolina.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: I think Loro sells, I think Dylan Stewart, Kyle Kennards, I think that defensive line is going to get after Pavia.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: I think they're gonna be ready for that kind of triple option thing that they're doing um at Vanderbilt.
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: Uh, I think South Carolina, I think South Carolina is surging.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: I think they're gonna run the table.
- 41:28SPEAKER_01: I think that rest when we finish eight and four, I think they're beating Clemson end of the season.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: So I've got a resurgent South Carolina program on the upswing, playing confident high-level football.
- 41:39SPEAKER_01: So I think we agree on that.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: All right, we got South Carolina in there.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: Number 18, Army minus five and a half.
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: This is a tricky spot at North Texas, who's one of the best offenses in the G5.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: Over under a 63 and a half.
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna give you a lot of credit.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: This is one of my points earlier.
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: Bryson Daly should be getting some Heisman love because he is worth so much to that team.
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: And I they almost lost to Air Force last week.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: Air Force is abysmal.
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: You were spot on.
- 42:02SPEAKER_01: Hell of a call, by the way.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: Bryson Daly might not play.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: 63 and a half points is a ton of points.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: Let me let me play a scenario for you.
- 42:12SPEAKER_01: Bryson Daly's hurt, or he's not full strength.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: The best thing Army's gonna want to do is control the clock and keep that high-powered North Texas offense off the field.
- 42:22SPEAKER_01: I don't know who's gonna win.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: Five and a half points is a sketchy thread on the road with a hurt quarterback, but I love the under here at 63 and a half.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: Can I talk you into that?
- 42:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was gonna, I don't, I don't have strong feelings about the the actual spread of this game.
- 42:37SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm gonna go with your gut on the under.
- 42:39SPEAKER_02: I like where your head's at.
- 42:41SPEAKER_02: Uh, I don't yeah, I don't trust Army to cover that.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: I just don't know about where they are in this game.
- 42:47SPEAKER_02: Normally, you know, without a banged up quarterback, yeah, I think I'll take an army.
- 42:52SPEAKER_02: But yeah, with that question mark there, I do I do like your reasoning for the under.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: Number nine, BYU minus four.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: This is the holy war at Utah.
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: Um, did you see the um the clip with the BY the Utah players said F uh FBYU and got a ton of blowback?
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Apparently a lot of Mormons um at University of Utah too.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: So we had an issue and apology.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: This is a rivalry, this one thing that makes college football great.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: It's worth noting that Utah has beaten the brakes off of BYU, I think like two, like 14 of the last 16 times.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: It's been a long time since uh BYU has won this game, but BYU is clearly better.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: The ghost of Utah, whatever you know, Mike and I have been bullish on Utah football for all four years of this podcast, they are not that this year.
- 43:33SPEAKER_01: Um, the spread is uh BYU on the road.
- 43:35SPEAKER_01: Although I how far is I don't know how far, I don't know how far Provo is from Ricycle Stadium.
- 43:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know.
- 43:41SPEAKER_01: It might be they might be, I mean it might be a half red stadium or half blue stadium for all I know.
- 43:45SPEAKER_01: Over under is 40 and a half.
- 43:47SPEAKER_01: Like this feels like a stay away to me, but I'm gonna be watching this game from a fan's perspective.
- 43:51SPEAKER_01: Do you have any holy war takes?
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: Um, it does feel kind of like a trap game because Utah's coming off of four straight losses and BYU is playing like their best football, and yet you look at the spread, and um, it's one of those that does give you pause.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, we don't have to bet it.
- 44:10SPEAKER_02: If we if we did, I would I would probably take BYU to cover that.
- 44:13SPEAKER_02: Um, but given kind of where we are and and and wondering what what's going on with that spread, it's probably best to hit the pause button.
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: Utah is a good is still well, is still a team with a really good coach that you and I both really, really like.
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: And Kyle Winningham, I we have a lot of faith in him, and he's getting more than a field goal at home.
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: I think his team isn't very good.
- 44:31SPEAKER_01: I think Isaac Wilson's not a great quarterback.
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: I just he might show up.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: This might be the time.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: BYU is not so excellent anywhere where.
- 44:39SPEAKER_01: They can just we're gonna out excellent you with our NFL caliber running back or wide receiver or tight end.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: So, like, you know, if they get down early, like I don't know the BY can come back from that in a hostile territory.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: So I'm yeah, I'm thinking we're gonna write this one away as a fun to watch.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: Don't bet on it.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: Last one before we get the homers.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: Maryland is flying all the way to Eugene, Oregon to face on number one Oregon Ducks, uh, minus 24 and a half.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: That is so far to travel.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: And I think Maryland also stinks.
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: Um, I got Oregon minus any number here, just because I just don't think Maryland's even gonna show up.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: That's that's my that's my only play on this game.
- 45:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Oregon's gonna blow them out, but I'm not ready to take 25 and a half.
- 45:21SPEAKER_02: That's that's a little too rich for my blood.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: 25 and a half.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: That's what it's moved to.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: Is that right?
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: I'm double checking my sources as well.
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: Yes, it has.
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: I saw 20.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: 25.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: I'm seeing 25 on my screen right now.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: So yeah, that's just when I took when I took these notes, I think it was 23 and a half, which we should have bet on that on probably on Monday or Tuesday, but and now it's up to 24 and a half, and you're seeing 25.
- 45:43SPEAKER_01: So um, that's a big number.
- 45:45SPEAKER_01: That's I don't, you know, you are you do you do you think Oregon?
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, the question the question is to you, does Oregon want to cover this?
- 45:52SPEAKER_01: That's all it takes.
- 45:53SPEAKER_01: Do they want to cover this game?
- 45:55SPEAKER_02: Well, and do they, you know, do they put some third stringers in in the second half and they give up a couple sloppy touchdowns?
- 46:01SPEAKER_02: That's why it's a stay away from me.
- 46:02SPEAKER_01: All right, fine.
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: We can we can we can stay away from that.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: I would my only play there would be um Oregon covering, just because flying that far across the country on a Maryland, which is probably about packed it in for the year, but we'll stay away.
- 46:13SPEAKER_01: Uh to the Homers, we can't bet on these we'll talk about anyway.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: UVA at number 23, Pitt.
- 46:17SPEAKER_01: Pitt just got blasted by SMU.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: This game is um at Hinesfield where Pitt plays.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: Uh Pitt's seven and a half point favorite, over under 57 and a half.
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: Um, Tony Elliott's got to have this game if he wants to keep his job.
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: You know, this is he's he's running out of time.
- 46:31SPEAKER_01: It's year three.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: I don't know how well it's gonna go over if he doesn't make a bowl again.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: And he really, between this game and the Virginia Tech game, I think one more in there to winnable, you know, tough spot.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: Tough spot.
- 46:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Pitt button's back reeling.
- 46:47SPEAKER_02: No, no, UVA UVA is reeling right now, and this is a bad spot for them.
- 46:52SPEAKER_01: The Panthers just got you know kind of a heartbreak loss, and I think they this is a perfect matchup for for Pitt to start feeling good about themselves again and cover that and get some momentum going into what's a really tough stretch for Pitt versus Clemson and then at Louisville the week after.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: So yeah, yeah, this feels like a get right game.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: I'm just I don't love this spot.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: We can't bet on anyway, but I would be I don't I wouldn't bet on UVA.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: Um I would take Pitt to cover that in a heartbeat.
- 47:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think I would too.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: I hate to say that.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: All right, number 23, Clemson at uh Virginia Tech.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: Virginia Peck is six and a half point favorite.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: Hey, true story.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: I just got a text from Darren Stedman about this game.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, what did he say?
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: He said, Glad we're not booked for the VT game.
- 47:31SPEAKER_01: Looks like drones and Tutin are both out.
- 47:33SPEAKER_01: Yikes.
- 47:34SPEAKER_01: So that is live reporting from uh uh Mike Blitz super fan Darren Stedman on the podcast talking about that game.
- 47:41SPEAKER_01: I'll be honest with you, I kind of like tech plus six and a half until that news I just heard.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: Um, that means they're trotting out Colin Schley again in a tough spot.
- 47:50SPEAKER_01: I don't think Clemson's very good, but I don't, you know, backup you Virginia Tech has taken is as good as drones and Tutanar.
- 47:58SPEAKER_01: And without those guys, what do you I don't know what you what you can bank on?
- 48:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, to me, this comes down to the ability to score offense, big play ability, splash plays, and Virginia Tech's just not gonna be able to hang around with Clemson in this game, I don't think.
- 48:12SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, I would take Clemson to cover that if we could.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: If we could, we are fading the homers.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry to all my UVA and tech fans.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: We love our hookies and who's just these are bad spots this week.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: All right, let's go to yours game.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: Mississippi State at number seven, Tennessee.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: Tennessee is 24 points uh uh favorites, uh over under is 61 and a half.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna tell you, I don't know if you want to hear this.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: Mississippi State getting 24 and a half, 24 points with an offense they're kind of figuring out.
- 48:39SPEAKER_01: I think Tennessee is looking at this game, thinking, how can we get out of there and get to Georgia?
- 48:44SPEAKER_01: Which is what's going to so I understand if you don't want to bet against your against your vols, I totally appreciate that, respect that.
- 48:51SPEAKER_01: But like I love Mississippi State plus 24 just because I think the vols are like, let's get out of this and get to the next game.
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't hate that logic.
- 48:58SPEAKER_02: Um, that's a big number.
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: I mean, I would I I don't like picking uh the uh the favorite to cover by more than three touchdowns typically.
- 49:08SPEAKER_02: Um so I'm with you on that.
- 49:09SPEAKER_02: Um this I will say this Mississippi State's defense is abysmal.
- 49:13SPEAKER_02: And we've seen Tennessee's offense just missing on a breakout game.
- 49:18SPEAKER_02: I do kind of think that this is the breakout game.
- 49:20SPEAKER_02: Um, what that looks like, I don't know what it is.
- 49:22SPEAKER_02: I think Dylan Sampson runs all over him.
- 49:24SPEAKER_02: I think Nico may have an opportunity to put up some big yardage.
- 49:28SPEAKER_02: Um, but again, they could um stall out drives, kick field goals instead of score touchdowns.
- 49:33SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm not willing to take Mississippi State here, but I don't hate your your your your logic behind it.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: It's it's one of those games where um yeah, I mean, just yeah, it's like this question is like, do you want to bet against um your your squad, which I don't want.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: Um I also but also it's also a big number, 61 points.
- 49:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, like, do you really think it's gonna be like a big back and forth game?
- 49:55SPEAKER_01: That's that's that's 17 points a quarter.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, that would you really do you think that you think that's gonna happen?
- 50:00SPEAKER_02: Well, when you look at Tennessee's defense, like I said, they haven't given up more than 20 points all season long, which would mean if that holds true, even if they slightly give up more than that, you're looking at what, 25 to 41 or something.
- 50:13SPEAKER_02: Like, do you think Tennessee's offense is going like who's gonna win?
- 50:17SPEAKER_02: Who who gets the edge on this matchup in your mind?
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: I don't think Tennessee is giving up 20 points to miss to Mississippi.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: I think Mississippi State might do okay moving the ball between the 20s.
- 50:25SPEAKER_01: So I think Michael Van Buren's kind of a decent quarterback, sneakily, and got some things going on, but Tennessee's a proud program.
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: Um, they're not gonna get pushed around and nailing.
- 50:33SPEAKER_01: I'm I think you're right about the spread.
- 50:35SPEAKER_01: The spread's a big number, but I love the under.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: I think this game is gonna be like 38 to 10 Tennessee, something like that.
- 50:42SPEAKER_01: Like, I think we're looking at like a 48, 50, 51.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: Can I talk you into the under 61 points in this game?
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: You can't.
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: Okay, let's do that.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: I'll allow it.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: I'll I'll allow it.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: All right, under 61 points.
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: Last game, 61-nothing ball six six no 60-nothing, 60 nothing.
- 50:59SPEAKER_01: You gotta hit the under.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: Okay, 60.
- 51:01SPEAKER_01: 60 nothing with the weirdest score uh ever.
- 51:03SPEAKER_01: All right, last one.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: Uh, college football game day will be there in Baton Louge.
- 51:09SPEAKER_01: Uh, number 11, Bama.
- 51:10SPEAKER_01: They are coming in as two and a half point favorites at number 15 LSU.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: Uh over under is 58 and a half.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: They're calling for some weather.
- 51:19SPEAKER_01: It's might be a this might be a wet game, although the forecast a little dicey, things kind of coming in and out, hard to say.
- 51:26SPEAKER_01: Um, both teams are coming off a bye, so we're gonna get some well-rested.
- 51:31SPEAKER_01: The last time LSU was on the football field, they got absolutely diced up by Marcel Reed, who was really, really hard to tackle.
- 51:38SPEAKER_01: And Jalen Milrow does a lot of those things.
- 51:40SPEAKER_01: I think you're going to see, I think you're going to see LSU show up with Blake Baker, uh getting pressure on the quarterback, which Alabama's offensive line has not been that great all year, and they're gonna do a much better job of defending that.
- 51:52SPEAKER_01: Um, I think Alabama can be summarized in kind of two two things Jalen Milrow's legs, running the ball, getting that, and Ryan Williams.
- 52:00SPEAKER_01: Ryan Williams is gonna be marked by Zy Alexander, who, by pro pro football focus, has very quietly turned out to be one of the best cornerbacks in college football.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: So he's has a worthy matchup on the other side.
- 52:12SPEAKER_01: So I'm really pretty confident about um Zy Alexander's ability to at least limit Ryan.
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: Like Ryan Williams is not gonna have a three-catch, 180-yard, two touchdown game catching bombs.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: I feel really good about that.
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: Since they can't do that, it's gonna be a night game in Death Valley.
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: We're gonna put a lot of pressure on them.
- 52:30SPEAKER_01: I like us to win, um, but I'm not confident.
- 52:33SPEAKER_01: This is Alabama.
- 52:34SPEAKER_01: This team is given, this is the ghost of a program that's given as I've lost sleep over this team.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: I've lost sleep over these games in years past.
- 52:41SPEAKER_01: Probably years of our lives.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: Years of our lives.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: Um, I love my Tigers, and I'm obviously gonna be rooting for them, but I don't have any confidence, and I don't really want to bet them, even getting three points.
- 52:54SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think the over-under is like 58 and a half.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, that's like a 30, it's like a 28 to what's that 26, you know, 24, 31, 24 type game.
- 53:05SPEAKER_01: That sounds about right to me.
- 53:06SPEAKER_01: That sounds like dead on where it's gonna be.
- 53:08SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm feeling major stay away vibes, but I've said enough things.
- 53:11SPEAKER_01: As an outsider, give me your give me your opinions.
- 53:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, as an outsider, um, to me, this is just a classic SEC matchup.
- 53:20SPEAKER_02: Um, you've got, like you said, I do agree with your take on Bama's offense.
- 53:24SPEAKER_02: The the head scratcher for me is that they haven't been able to run the ball at all outside of the quarterback spot.
- 53:29SPEAKER_02: Uh, so you know, are they gonna hit some big plays on the outside to Ryan Williams?
- 53:33SPEAKER_02: Probably, but can you limit it to a 20 or 30 yard gain instead of a 60-yard touchdown?
- 53:39SPEAKER_02: I do like LSU's ability to get to the quarterback.
- 53:42SPEAKER_02: I like their defense, and I like Ness Meyer's big play ability as well.
- 53:45SPEAKER_02: I think it is a kind of a back and forth, um, you know, a little bit of a feel each other out to start the game.
- 53:52SPEAKER_02: And I think things get a little bit wild.
- 53:53SPEAKER_02: Maybe the defenses get a little bit loose um in the second half.
- 53:57SPEAKER_02: I kind of think LSU edges this game out, but uh, I don't have a strong read on it.
- 54:01SPEAKER_01: Okay, I think we're gonna, I think we're gonna stay away from this one because because indecision sounds like some, yeah, I'm in the same as well.
- 54:07SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, and the all I other thing is like, you know, this is not Alabama's team's old.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: Like their offensive line is not protecting that well, not opening up holes that well, and their defensive line isn't really getting pressure with four.
- 54:18SPEAKER_01: Another thing that you should know is that Garrett Nessmeyer has been absolutely elite against blitzes.
- 54:23SPEAKER_01: If they bring blitz and they put their guys in man coverage, that is an incredibly advantageous position for LSU.
- 54:29SPEAKER_01: For Garrett Nessmeyer has done a very good job.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: It's when they're facing those drop eight zone defenses and they are getting pressure with four, which is what uh Texas AM was was well able to do really well.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: It was a real problem.
- 54:41SPEAKER_01: So you know, Garrett Nessmeyer, assuming the ball's not soaking wet, if he can grip the ball and get it out to his guys and he's he's got guys playing man.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: I think he's gonna, I think he's gonna, I think he's gonna, I think he's gonna eat.
- 54:52SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna go on on a limb and say whoever can run the ball this game wins.
- 54:58SPEAKER_02: Whoever can take that little bit of pressure off of the quarterback is gonna win this game.
- 55:02SPEAKER_02: Mark it down.
- 55:03SPEAKER_02: Whoever has more rushing yards at the end of the game wins this game.
- 55:06SPEAKER_01: That's a wild fair enough.
- 55:08SPEAKER_01: Never heard such an opinion before.
- 55:10SPEAKER_01: Fair enough.
- 55:11SPEAKER_01: Fair enough.
- 55:11SPEAKER_01: For this one, though, specifically.
- 55:13SPEAKER_01: This one specifically.
- 55:14SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 55:14SPEAKER_01: So we're not betting this one.
- 55:15SPEAKER_01: All right, so what we got?
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: We got eight legs this week.
- 55:17SPEAKER_01: Texas, minus 21 and a half points.
- 55:19SPEAKER_01: Um, hosting Florida, Georgia, old miss over 54 and a half, Minnesota, minus six, um, at Rutgers.
- 55:26SPEAKER_01: Rutgers, the ghost of Greg Ciano, Iowa State in the bounce back spot at Kansas, minus three.
- 55:31SPEAKER_01: Colorado coming off of bye at Texas Tech, minus four, just more talented.
- 55:36SPEAKER_01: South Carolina, overwhelming.
- 55:37SPEAKER_01: Vanderbilt in Nashville.
- 55:39SPEAKER_01: Uh Nora Sellers eating.
- 55:41SPEAKER_01: Uh Army, uh, North Texas under 64.
- 55:44SPEAKER_01: We're not sure about Bryson Daly.
- 55:45SPEAKER_01: Going to shorten that game, control the clock, melt the clock, not score many points, and under 61 points.
- 55:50SPEAKER_01: Tennessee suffocates Mississippi State's defense, uh, controls the ball, runs the bejesus out of it, shortens the game, gets out of there, looks to Georgia.
- 55:58SPEAKER_01: $10, 8 legs, pays you$1,773.
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: So that's a winning bet.
- 56:07SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 56:07SPEAKER_01: I could use an extra$850 this week.
- 56:09SPEAKER_01: So I'll take it.
- 56:10SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm glad we're I'm glad we're pewing this.
- 56:12SPEAKER_01: This is good, good, good use of our time.
- 56:14SPEAKER_01: Um, the extra$900 will be nice.
- 56:16SPEAKER_01: So let's just let's go ahead and bet$10 because this is obviously going to win.
- 56:18SPEAKER_01: These are all eight locks.
- 56:20SPEAKER_01: Um good stuff.
- 56:21SPEAKER_01: Are any of really we're due?
- 56:22SPEAKER_01: We are due.
- 56:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we haven't we haven't hit one in two weeks.
- 56:25SPEAKER_01: So clearly, uh, it's it's time for us to universe give it back to us.
- 56:29SPEAKER_01: Anything else before we uh tap out of here?
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: No, good, good game, good game, good game.
- 56:34SPEAKER_01: Good game, good game.
