- 0:11Speaker 1: where's Guy. Well, there is no Guy in this review. No,
- 0:13Speaker 1: it is reviewed by myself and my original co host, Mitch. Now,
- 0:17Speaker 1: if you're a supporter of ours on Patreon, you would
- 0:19Speaker 1: already be well aware that Mitch has rejoined the show
- 0:22Speaker 1: after six long years, and every single month we review
- 0:25Speaker 1: two season eleven episodes of the show exclusively for our
- 0:28Speaker 1: supporters on Patreon. So Mitch was my co host for
- 0:30Speaker 1: the first ten seasons of four Finger Discount. He took
- 0:33Speaker 1: a break, and now we are kicking off where we
- 0:35Speaker 1: left off. So we started at the beginning of season
- 0:37Speaker 1: eleven and we're working our way through the teen era
- 0:40Speaker 1: of the show, which for the most part, Mitch has
- 0:42Speaker 1: never seen. So it's a lot of fun. But it's
- 0:44Speaker 1: just fun to catch up and talk about dad life
- 0:46Speaker 1: because Mitch is now a dad as well, and it's
- 0:48Speaker 1: just good for a good old fashioned Mitch and Dando
- 0:50Speaker 1: catch up each and every month. So each month our
- 0:53Speaker 1: Patreon supporters get access to two exclusive season eleven reviews
- 0:57Speaker 1: featuring Mitch and Dando and his little sneak peak at
- 1:00Speaker 1: our recent review of eight Misbehaven. Hope you guys enjoy this,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and if you do, in fact enjoy it, think about
- 1:05Speaker 1: maybe supporting the show on Patreon for getting access to

- 1:11Speaker 1: enjoy our review of eight Misbehaven.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Are you sure you want the child a Pooh?
- 1:16Speaker 1: You're not? I dou?
- 1:17Speaker 3: I mean there comes a damon a man's life when
- 1:19Speaker 3: he asks himself, who would flood my corpse down the Ganges?
- 1:23Speaker 1: Oh pooh, take me now?
- 1:26Speaker 2: Or cacta fourfinger Discount dude.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Welcome to four Finger Discount, the podcast where we always
- 1:48Speaker 1: appreciate a good banana bread and Dando, I am Mitch.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Would you like nuts in your banana breada or you were?
- 1:54Speaker 3: Well maybe not in this house? Yeah, a riot to Nicolai.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Will never been a nut man. I've never liked peans,
- 2:00Speaker 1: never liked the smell of them. Look any form of nuts,
- 2:03Speaker 1: Tala Teler of the Kid weird right, no texture in
- 2:05Speaker 1: your banana bread?
- 2:06Speaker 3: Then you with like just a soft, smooth, toasted.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Or fresh I had never eaten banana bread before I
- 2:11Speaker 1: met Nikola. She opened up me to a whole new
- 2:14Speaker 1: world of food. Yeah. I never tried Indian food. I've
- 2:16Speaker 1: never tried Thai food. I just never. I was just
- 2:18Speaker 1: my mum made sausage and vegetables growing up. You know
- 2:21Speaker 1: what I mean, the heat and be meat and bedge.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I put it to you that not much smells better
- 2:27Speaker 3: than banana bread baking in the house. I think I
- 2:29Speaker 3: was gonna say cinnamon scroll Maybe what's better than the
- 2:32Speaker 3: smell of a taste? I mean, nicola makes What I
- 2:34Speaker 3: like about banana bread is nicola makes it healthy as well.
- 2:37Speaker 3: And sometimes you got to spoil yourself with with your treats.
- 2:39Speaker 1: And but I like eating it knowing this is better
- 2:43Speaker 1: for me than normal banana bread.
- 2:44Speaker 3: You know that it's something that like I've done a
- 2:47Speaker 3: few healthy banana breads.
- 2:48Speaker 1: You don't want to feed your kid too much sugar.
- 2:50Speaker 3: But then a few weeks back, I was like, you
- 2:52Speaker 3: know what, fuck it, I'm just gonna like I am
- 2:56Speaker 3: throwing everything in this and I don't care and enjoy it.
- 2:59Speaker 3: And it was the soft, juiciest most And I was
- 3:02Speaker 3: just like, oh, that's the secret. Like if you if
- 3:04Speaker 3: you're eating, if you want to know if the banana
- 3:05Speaker 3: bread is good for you're bad for you. If it
- 3:08Speaker 3: kind of feels closer to cardboard, it's healthy. Yeah, if
- 3:11Speaker 3: it feels in any way soft, fifty grams a sugar person,
- 3:15Speaker 3: that's the secret. Because I was making a rap the
- 3:17Speaker 3: other day, right, chicken rap, not hip hop album, No
- 3:21Speaker 3: No No, I wish and our friend Big Brigsy whole
- 3:26Speaker 3: gray must I had whole gray mustard or I had
- 3:29Speaker 3: garlic aoli and I was like, whole.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Grad mustard is good for the waist mustard. And this
- 3:35Speaker 1: voice in my head was like, just do it, just
- 3:38Speaker 1: just do the Ali. And I was like, we're going
- 3:41Speaker 1: to make something. I want to enjoy it. It's just Ali. Yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 1: And I had the Ali, loved it. Yeah. Good. Sometimes
- 3:47Speaker 1: just going to be a sandwich you were mentioning earlier
- 3:52Speaker 1: when you last a couple episodes ago. You make taco
- 3:55Speaker 1: sometimes and the light sour cream is like, not light,
- 3:58Speaker 1: it's going to do it? Just make sure. Yeah, light
- 4:00Speaker 1: cheese fuck that. Yeah, we always get we get light cheese. Yeah,
- 4:03Speaker 1: and it's sort of a bit that much lighter. It's
- 4:04Speaker 1: like maybe two grams less fats just go full. Yeah,
- 4:08Speaker 1: an old manager of mind that always drank light milk.
- 4:11Speaker 1: What are you doing yourself, Matty? Not saving anything? It
- 4:14Speaker 1: just enjoys it.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I was like, I was holding up nutrition labels and
- 4:17Speaker 3: are you sacrificing the flavor so much for like the
- 4:20Speaker 3: ten percent.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Don't go by the serving sizes, go by the per
- 4:23Speaker 1: hundred mil That's where the real comparisons are much better.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But this episode here, it's about a Pooh and Andula
- 4:29Speaker 1: finally getting a child, well eight of them. It's an
- 4:31Speaker 1: episode that's very bizarre by the end. But I thought
- 4:34Speaker 1: everything leading up to the wacky end was really fun
- 4:37Speaker 1: and enjoyable.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Wacky end was grim, I'll be honest, and I feel
- 4:41Speaker 3: like that is not a fair judgment of the episode.
- 4:44Speaker 3: It's more because, in a similar way to idiocracy, when
- 4:49Speaker 3: society has pushed yourself so far that you look back
- 4:51Speaker 3: at satire from twenty years ago, and I was watching it,
- 4:54Speaker 3: I was like, it actually just doesn't feel all that
- 4:56Speaker 3: far fetched, And as a result, I feel sad for
- 4:59Speaker 3: these babies.
- 5:00Speaker 1: They're not laughing at the idea of them. I feel
- 5:02Speaker 1: like if someone had topless now, we'd get a reality
- 5:05Speaker 1: show about it.
- 5:05Speaker 3: While they already was there. It's not the one with showed,
- 5:08Speaker 3: was it. I'm sure that was the crazy thing? Is
- 5:11Speaker 3: I believe it? It doesn't seem unrealistic? Yeah, yeah. We
- 5:15Speaker 3: watch Have You Been Paying Attentions?
- 5:16Speaker 1: The only show we watch on free to air TV, right,
- 5:18Speaker 1: and we see a lot of ads for reality shows
- 5:22Speaker 1: and I'm watching this, going why is this person getting
- 5:24Speaker 1: their own reality show? Who is this person? It's like,
- 5:26Speaker 1: you know, some hillbilly guy in the States has got
- 5:29Speaker 1: his dating two sisters are his two different wives, And
- 5:31Speaker 1: I'm like, why is this now a television show?
- 5:34Speaker 3: Not to make a joke or make light of a
- 5:36Speaker 3: bad situation, but the most recent reality show thing that
- 5:40Speaker 3: was that I saw was that from Maps I think
- 5:43Speaker 3: it was UK Maps.
- 5:44Speaker 1: A couple of.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Contestants alleged alleged sexual assault and I think as far
- 5:50Speaker 3: as to say it.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Was one of them was raped.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Well on reality show, on the show and it's just
- 5:56Speaker 3: always the ones you most suspect. Well, this here, I thought,
- 6:02Speaker 3: the overall story of a Pooh and Mandela struggle to
- 6:05Speaker 3: get pregnant, then deal with the task of parenthood despite
- 6:08Speaker 3: the fact this is everything they wanted. Then the realization
- 6:12Speaker 3: of Oh, this is hard, because parenthood is hard. It
- 6:14Speaker 3: has its challenges, but you do it because you love
- 6:17Speaker 3: it and that's what you've wanted. I thought it was
- 6:18Speaker 3: just very relatable for people who have, particularly prison.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Yes if you don't those who have who have now
- 6:25Speaker 1: had a child, I thought they really I thought who
- 6:27Speaker 1: wrote this episode. I think it was Matt Salmon. I mean,
- 6:29Speaker 1: Matt Salmon did a really good job of just capturing
- 6:31Speaker 1: that the pressure and stress of parenthood because you love
- 6:35Speaker 1: your kids are death. But it's just like, oh I
- 6:37Speaker 1: need a break.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Yeah, a couple of days in and I mean, imagine
- 6:39Speaker 3: eight of.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Them, That's what I say. It was hard enough with one.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Let me obviously had that second, but eight on your
- 6:44Speaker 1: first go around.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Ash had a really good friend had triplets and I
- 6:48Speaker 3: saw them for the first ones that went from not
- 6:51Speaker 3: having had kids to having three of them, and I
- 6:52Speaker 3: saw them a couple of weeks later. And you've never
- 6:55Speaker 3: seen a more tired pair of people in my life.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not just mentally, it's physically as well. Everything
- 6:59Speaker 1: about actually change it.
- 7:00Speaker 3: You think, like, I mean, it's not war, obviously think
- 7:03Speaker 3: but now no one knows that I'm making this as
- 7:05Speaker 3: a serious comparison, But you think about the idea of
- 7:08Speaker 3: someone fighting in the somme and there's just like fucking
- 7:11Speaker 3: shelling after shelling after shelling, and you're not getting any sleep,
- 7:14Speaker 3: and like, that's the closest comparison that I can imagine.
- 7:18Speaker 3: And even just with one, it was that like those
- 7:20Speaker 3: first two weeks, you know, you hit a tiredness that
- 7:23Speaker 3: you didn't know existed, where it's just like, I'm les
- 7:27Speaker 3: never slept for more than like three hours. Sorry through
- 7:31Speaker 3: the at nighttime it was never more than three and
- 7:34Speaker 3: in the day it was never more than like forty
- 7:35Speaker 3: five minutes to an hour. So every forty every every
- 7:40Speaker 3: three hour cycle would begin with like wake up, have
- 7:43Speaker 3: a feed, but whatever, have a little bit of a play,
- 7:47Speaker 3: go to sleep. Then within that forty five minute period,
- 7:51Speaker 3: it's like I have to clean everything. I've got to
- 7:53Speaker 3: clean the towels that we just use for all of this.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I've got to make sure that we've got There was
- 7:58Speaker 3: breastfeeding and bottle feeding was like make sure that all
- 7:59Speaker 3: that stuff is fine, and we've cleaned the bottles and
- 8:01Speaker 3: everything's gone, and you'd be seventy percent of the way
- 8:04Speaker 3: through that and then she'd wake back up, and it
- 8:06Speaker 3: was and it's just that for like two straight weeks.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Two weeks. Holly didn't sleep for an entire two years.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Did you guys have to go sleep school?
- 8:14Speaker 1: Did you? Oh? No, you just Holly? She had when
- 8:19Speaker 1: they throw up in their mouth talking to me syndrome. No, no,
- 8:25Speaker 1: they throw up in their throat and it causes like, no,
- 8:28Speaker 1: that burning sensation in your throat when you're thrown up.
- 8:30Speaker 1: So she hasn't actually thrown up silent reflex because she's
- 8:34Speaker 1: not actually throwing up, it's just sort of burning her throat.
- 8:37Speaker 1: So she just cried and cried and cried, and it
- 8:41Speaker 1: was it was just after two full years she slept
- 8:43Speaker 1: the full night. Yeah, okay, Yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Was she diagnosed for that or was it an unknown?
- 8:48Speaker 1: Okay? So you knew and still just couldn't count even
- 8:51Speaker 1: do it? You can't, you can't. There's no cure for
- 8:52Speaker 1: silent reflex. They just outgrow it. The doctors would just
- 8:54Speaker 1: say grow it, like grow it easy for you to say, doctor,
- 8:57Speaker 1: Oh no, it's like yeah, but when it's like every
- 9:00Speaker 1: I was different and I'm like that doesn't help me
- 9:02Speaker 1: because that's for us. It was knowing or not knowing
- 9:06Speaker 1: when is this going to end. It will end at
- 9:08Speaker 1: some point. But when and we met someone once at
- 9:11Speaker 1: like this like group thing, she was like, my child's form,
- 9:13Speaker 1: she's still doing it and like that broke Nikola, like
- 9:17Speaker 1: it broke me. Like Nikola was just when I saw
- 9:20Speaker 1: I wasn't too bad. But when I saw that it
- 9:21Speaker 1: broke Nicola. I'm like, if Nicholas broken, unbroken, like Nicholas
- 9:24Speaker 1: stronger than I am mentally. And when I saw that
- 9:26Speaker 1: she was just broken, I'm like, yeah, I'm done. That's rough.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Were like, that's what We only have one child now, Yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 3: and you're better for it. And it's nice that I've
- 9:34Speaker 3: got somewhere to sleep if I too after recording.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Ye, but yeah, I just thought there's particular scenes in
- 9:40Speaker 1: this that really captured the vibe of parenthood. You're just
- 9:44Speaker 1: touching on the when they wake up in the night
- 9:46Speaker 1: and whatnot when a pooh, it's the times and he's
- 9:48Speaker 1: just fallen asleep with them. Have you had you done that?
- 9:50Speaker 1: There was a couple of times where I just fell
- 9:51Speaker 1: asleep next to the I woke up next to the
- 9:53Speaker 1: cot not realizing that I've fallen asleep. Ah.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Yeah, only one time comes to mind, and kind of shamefully,
- 10:00Speaker 3: it was an accident. I'd actually we were on holidays
- 10:02Speaker 3: and I'd had a few drinks and I came back.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I went out with mates while ash was in the hotel,
- 10:07Speaker 3: and I came back and Lex was crying. And I
- 10:08Speaker 3: could tell with mates after she was born, no, no,
- 10:12Speaker 3: not after she was born. She would have been about one.
- 10:16Speaker 3: She was not quite one at this age. But I
- 10:19Speaker 3: came back and could tell from the look on Ashal faces,
- 10:21Speaker 3: like all this has been going on a while, and
- 10:23Speaker 3: as much as all I want to do right now
- 10:24Speaker 3: is crawl into bed, I've got to relieve.
- 10:27Speaker 1: The I've been having fun and she's been here doing this, yeah,
- 10:31Speaker 1: and that.
- 10:31Speaker 3: The only way I could get her to stop crying
- 10:33Speaker 3: was to sit her on my chest and sort of
- 10:35Speaker 3: lay back myself. And then I fell asleep and woke up.
- 10:37Speaker 3: And just because of how small she was and the
- 10:39Speaker 3: fact that I was not sober at the time, I
- 10:42Speaker 3: did really hate myself for that one, to be honest,
- 10:45Speaker 3: I was like, that wasn't not cool. You feel jealous
- 10:49Speaker 3: for doing things for yourself? Yeah, I mean, but you
- 10:53Speaker 3: feel feel guilty, feel guilty, You feel guilty yeah, you
- 10:56Speaker 3: feel you feel I knew what she meant it, but like,
- 10:57Speaker 3: that's that's the deal. You just from that, I was like,
- 11:01Speaker 3: I'll never get drunk again if there's a chance that
- 11:03Speaker 3: I have to be looking after it, because it's not
- 11:04Speaker 3: worth with that.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Beyond that, though, I typically go back to the like
- 11:10Speaker 1: really young.
- 11:10Speaker 3: If she was having a hard time sleeping. I liked
- 11:14Speaker 3: being awake for those moments because I knew that it
- 11:17Speaker 3: would pass pretty quickly and she would only be that
- 11:18Speaker 3: small for such a small time thing. Yeah, so I
- 11:22Speaker 3: would listen to audiobooks or watch a movie on an
- 11:24Speaker 3: iPad and like I'd set up a little thought of
- 11:27Speaker 3: mattresses or dooms or whatever.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Pillows whatever.
- 11:30Speaker 3: I had to keep the light away from her eyes,
- 11:32Speaker 3: so it'd be like she'd be on my left shoulder
- 11:34Speaker 3: and I'll just be around the corner there watching Star Wars.
- 11:39Speaker 3: But yeah, so that was kind of how I rolled.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I was like, what, I had five weeks off, which
- 11:45Speaker 3: helped with some manual even parental leave. So I was
- 11:49Speaker 3: in that state where I was like, whatever, I'll just
- 11:51Speaker 3: be tired in the day. I want to take these
- 11:53Speaker 3: moments and let Ash have asleep.
- 11:54Speaker 1: That's for me. Obviously, podcasting is my job. Now. I
- 11:57Speaker 1: could go out and get an office job somewhere whatever,
- 11:59Speaker 1: But I just like they're any little once. Yeah, and
- 12:02Speaker 1: I've got so much time out. I pick them u
- 12:03Speaker 1: from school every day. I take them to schoolvery day.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I kick the footy with Elliott for an hour after
- 12:06Speaker 1: school at his school, play with Holly on the monkey
- 12:08Speaker 1: bars and whatnot. I won't get to do this forever. Yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 1: so I'm just gonna take this chance now, enjoy these moments,
- 12:14Speaker 1: and I think our relationship be better for it. In
- 12:16Speaker 1: the future, of course it will be. Yeah, amazing. But
- 12:20Speaker 1: Homer and Margin this episode, I thought they were used
- 12:22Speaker 1: pretty well. I thought, you know, they they kind of
- 12:25Speaker 1: become the default of poor Mandula couple's friends. Yeah, yep.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Never really seen a poor manjol hanging out with anybody
- 12:31Speaker 1: else but the Simpsons. Ye, and Homa was there for
- 12:34Speaker 1: them in the earlier stage of trying to get them
- 12:37Speaker 1: help pregnant, help save the babies in the end as well,
- 12:39Speaker 1: and Marge was just there making her banana butter as well. Yeah.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Yeah, like Marge largely, I think she was written and
- 12:45Speaker 3: performed really well in this, Like it felt pretty true
- 12:47Speaker 3: to life of of a mother, like an experienced mother
- 12:51Speaker 3: helping an expectant and then ultimately new mother through that process.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Trying to yeah, give her advice and whatnot, because when
- 12:57Speaker 1: you're a first parent, you don't take advice. I remember
- 13:00Speaker 1: my parents give me advice and I'm like, you don't
- 13:01Speaker 1: know what you're talking about, old lady. I know what
- 13:04Speaker 1: I'm doing, Mum. Just leave it to me, Give me
- 13:07Speaker 1: the ball and I'll do the rest.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Yeah, myself in trouble if I talk too much about
- 13:12Speaker 3: I was like, take it from everywhere, but I could
- 13:15Speaker 3: also take it with a grain of salt, whereas Ash
- 13:17Speaker 3: would take it to heart a little bit more.
- 13:18Speaker 1: How'd you guys take it? When someone was telling you
- 13:20Speaker 1: weren't doing it right, I.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Wouldn't shoot back at them again. For me, it was
- 13:25Speaker 3: more about defending Ash. So Ash would question herself and
- 13:29Speaker 3: then I would be like, fuck that. The only thing
- 13:32Speaker 3: that matters is lex and the thing you said before,
- 13:35Speaker 3: All kids are different. So I was always able to
- 13:38Speaker 3: be like, Okay, yes there's advice, and there's a spectrum
- 13:41Speaker 3: and all those sorts of things, like we had a
- 13:43Speaker 3: maternal health nurse say you shouldn't pat them on the
- 13:46Speaker 3: bum when you're trying to settle them, because it can
- 13:49Speaker 3: disrupt some kids. And I was like, great, except when
- 13:53Speaker 3: I do it, it works, and I think she's like
- 13:56Speaker 3: so it was just that it was like, well, I'll
- 13:57Speaker 3: be led by her more so than what a textbook
- 14:01Speaker 3: or what someone else's experience would be. Try it, sure,
- 14:05Speaker 3: but if it doesn't work, it's all right.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Cool.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I'm not going to try to make my kid fit
- 14:08Speaker 3: that box. It's more go in the direction that is
- 14:11Speaker 3: working for the kid.
- 14:12Speaker 1: We changed health nurses. Yeah, have three different ones. The
- 14:15Speaker 1: first one was always The first one was just like
- 14:17Speaker 1: this is how you do it and you can't do
- 14:19Speaker 1: it any other way. The second one was just sort
- 14:22Speaker 1: of I could tell she was judging us for this
- 14:24Speaker 1: and the other. So we went to the third one.
- 14:25Speaker 1: The third one was like, what have you guys been doing?
- 14:28Speaker 1: And we sort of explained things and they're like what
- 14:30Speaker 1: works the best, this option, this option. She's like, just
- 14:34Speaker 1: do more of that. She's like, all kids are different.
- 14:37Speaker 1: You do what works for you guys, and for your kid.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I'm like that's what we needed to hear, Like, you're
- 14:41Speaker 1: not doing it wrong, you just need to do it
- 14:43Speaker 1: your way.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Granted, there are some things that are definitely wrong.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Pillows not on the top of the face. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:49Speaker 1: wrap them up in winter. I feed them three times
- 14:52Speaker 1: a day.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Yeah, a few basics that I think we can all
- 14:54Speaker 3: get behind this. But then the other little things like,
- 14:58Speaker 3: you know, some kids are going to like a night
- 14:59Speaker 3: light on in the room or white noise. Some kids
- 15:01Speaker 3: are going to want a dark room in silence. Some
- 15:03Speaker 3: kids like to be swaddled, some kids like to be
- 15:04Speaker 3: in you know. The stupidest, simplest one for us was
- 15:10Speaker 3: changing to sleepsuit. Like Lex hated being wrapped up as
- 15:13Speaker 3: a kid, so like if her arms were tucked in,
- 15:15Speaker 3: she was awful. Then we got the saffish things. Yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 3: the Staffish sleepsuit was golden for ages, and that was
- 15:22Speaker 3: one of those things of like, oh no one said
- 15:24Speaker 3: we could do that.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and then I thought we were supposed to do that. Yeah, yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 1: I thought they liked being snug.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, exactly that, or even just like even if
- 15:32Speaker 3: we didn't have one of those, like just let her
- 15:34Speaker 3: have her arms here and she was fine.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I think Holly was exactly the same. Yeah, she still
- 15:39Speaker 1: woke up, but would fall asleep better. My favorite favorite
- 15:43Speaker 1: moments for me. I didn't want to spoil this in
- 15:45Speaker 1: the intro, but can we talk about the banana bread scene? Yes,
- 15:48Speaker 1: we go. This is one of the funny Simpson scenes
- 15:50Speaker 1: thin in a while. Yeah, I think because I'm a
- 15:51Speaker 1: parent and I've lived through people bringing food over and
- 15:53Speaker 1: I'm like, how is this going to help me? But
- 15:58Speaker 1: problems aside, but the way I pooh, because this is
- 16:01Speaker 1: what this is what you go through when you're a
- 16:02Speaker 1: new parent. It's the I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm just emotional,
- 16:06Speaker 1: but not a bread I'm sorry bread.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I still I mean, I think you still carry it's
- 16:14Speaker 3: it's more heightened them, but you carry it through now. Right,
- 16:17Speaker 3: Like my dad, we both work ash and I both
- 16:20Speaker 3: work full time likes in kinder Monday to Friday from
- 16:22Speaker 3: like eight thirty issues.
- 16:24Speaker 1: About five o'clock.
- 16:26Speaker 3: It's largely all she's ever known, so it's not a
- 16:28Speaker 3: huge deal and she does well, but we feel that
- 16:32Speaker 3: guilt as well about not being able to have the
- 16:34Speaker 3: exact sort of time you were talking about. And Dad
- 16:38Speaker 3: was calling mix he wants to take her to the
- 16:40Speaker 3: zoo and got a Zoom membership. I was like, yeah,
- 16:42Speaker 3: that sounds great. And wanted to leave the conversation there
- 16:45Speaker 3: because like meaning, well was that thing of you know,
- 16:49Speaker 3: because it's just such a long day for there, mate,
- 16:52Speaker 3: Like it's such a big I know, she's like, I
- 16:54Speaker 3: know she's getting bigger, but it's such a long day.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Kind I'm like, yeah, I'm aware, shut the fuck.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Up about it. Please don't do anything about it.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Yeah, like yeah, so yeah, that people helping can trigger
- 17:05Speaker 3: you in ways where you're like, because I think it, Well,
- 17:09Speaker 3: the banana bread thing, You're like, that's not what I
- 17:13Speaker 3: need right now.
- 17:13Speaker 1: What I need right now is sleep. I liked when
- 17:18Speaker 1: they brought over hot meals, like a pasta bake or
- 17:21Speaker 1: a lasagne, Like this is something I can actually enjoy it.
- 17:23Speaker 1: But I like banana bread, but it's some an essential meal. Yeah, yes,
- 17:27Speaker 1: it's not helping me all that much. But I think
- 17:30Speaker 1: the other thing that can get you, though, is that
- 17:33Speaker 1: people helping you in a moment when you're feeling.
- 17:37Speaker 3: You're aware of your deficiencies. Yeah that sometimes it can
- 17:42Speaker 3: just like hold up a mirror a little bit too
- 17:44Speaker 3: much that you're not ready to look into live in Homer,
- 17:47Speaker 3: which doesn't say help Like, yeah, definitely, if you've got
- 17:50Speaker 3: people of your friends that and if you have friends
- 17:53Speaker 3: who become new parents, still help them because logically you
- 17:56Speaker 3: still appreciate it. Well, I sometimes your brain will go
- 17:59Speaker 3: to weirds spots.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I now ask them what can I do for you?
- 18:02Speaker 1: What would you like me to do? Don't just rock
- 18:03Speaker 1: up to the door with banana bread? Yeah, ask would
- 18:05Speaker 1: you like it?
- 18:06Speaker 3: This is the other thing that always bugged me about
- 18:08Speaker 3: the idea of bringing food. Actually, Daniel Kitson's got a
- 18:12Speaker 3: really good thing about someone baking him a cake, which
- 18:14Speaker 3: is a lot like saying I have decided that you
- 18:17Speaker 3: are going to eat a cake. The idea of a
- 18:24Speaker 3: passer bake or a lasagna or something is awesome in isolation.
- 18:27Speaker 3: But I've always had in my head that thing of like,
- 18:30Speaker 3: what if three other people did it and now they've
- 18:32Speaker 3: got more lasagna than fridge. You're giving people a logistical
- 18:37Speaker 3: fucking nightmare. Try to work the way it's so full
- 18:40Speaker 3: for a while. Yeah, that's a sketch idea. I've had
- 18:44Speaker 3: for ages that I would love to film of, like
- 18:46Speaker 3: someone going through because births and funerals, I think of
- 18:50Speaker 3: the two times that like a death in the family
- 18:52Speaker 3: is the other one will trigger people to make food
- 18:54Speaker 3: for you. I wanted to do that thing of like
- 18:57Speaker 3: so bad to cook so many well wishes essentially just
- 19:00Speaker 3: crushed someone in their kitchen under the plate of case.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Who's gonna do this dish? But then the button on
- 19:08Speaker 1: that scene too is a poo trying to fork one
- 19:12Speaker 1: of his kids off to Mark. But Mar don't do
- 19:15Speaker 1: it much. Also, like the Manjulia gun all that sex
- 19:20Speaker 1: for nothing, Well, that's a pretty grim assessment because we
- 19:24Speaker 1: were lucky. We were just like, you want to have
- 19:25Speaker 1: a kid? Yeah, sure, and then within like a couple
- 19:27Speaker 1: of weeks Nicolas pregnant. Yeah.
- 19:29Speaker 3: It was the same deal. Like Ash did do so
- 19:31Speaker 3: something like that.
- 19:32Speaker 1: You told a story once in the podcast of Ash
- 19:37Speaker 1: doing things and I was just like, well, if your
- 19:39Speaker 1: talent it, go for it. It was like gymnastic style
- 19:42Speaker 1: moving making sure certain stuff with a certain direction. Yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 1: it's like the big Lebowski I've got to have. I
- 19:56Speaker 1: wish I had a better memory.
- 19:59Speaker 3: No, the treatment health vitamins, that sort of stuff, Like
- 20:05Speaker 3: Ash was big on, like she didn't drink alcohol and
- 20:09Speaker 3: she was like reading as fertile as possible. Apparently them
- 20:15Speaker 3: taking the fertility drugs was I thing that happened in
- 20:19Speaker 3: the UK. The woman was pumped for a lot of
- 20:21Speaker 3: drugs and she ended up having eight kids, but all
- 20:23Speaker 3: stillborns unfortunately more but sorry, but yeah, that's what maybe
- 20:26Speaker 3: that's where.
- 20:26Speaker 1: That joke came from. Okay, you wouldn't re joke about that.
- 20:29Speaker 3: But having silver lining at least you've made it into.
- 20:33Speaker 1: But she she had a child, a daughter the following year. Okay, yeah,
- 20:37Speaker 1: so she got her, she got her little miracle in
- 20:39Speaker 1: the end. But but yeah, it was it was ash
- 20:41Speaker 1: big on the whole sort of.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, period trackers and stuff like that, ovulation trackers,
- 20:47Speaker 3: cycle trackers, whatever they're called. So that the thing of like,
- 20:51Speaker 3: oh she's ovulating, I've got to go like that vibe.
- 20:53Speaker 3: But similar to you, we were one and done. There
- 20:56Speaker 3: was no wasted sex accent the fish so also was
- 21:02Speaker 3: a big fan of the Baron. Yeah geat just as
- 21:05Speaker 3: silly as those was. I just loved the baron comes
- 21:08Speaker 3: out the flight of that the flight of Valkyries is
- 21:10Speaker 3: what it.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Is, right of the valkyries. But anyway, yeah, yeah, and
- 21:14Speaker 1: then they're booing him. Yeah, and I've always for some
- 21:20Speaker 1: reason when Apoo says oh cutter, it's always just stayed
- 21:23Speaker 1: in my mind.
- 21:24Speaker 3: That's an interesting thing because that over I mean funny,
- 21:28Speaker 3: but it also pops up under a list and it's
- 21:30Speaker 3: hard not to talk about this in twenty twenty six
- 21:32Speaker 3: of Is this a problematic episode?
- 21:35Speaker 1: In what way?
- 21:36Speaker 3: There's a number of jokes that make India the punch down.
- 21:40Speaker 1: At India in this the Eighth Wonder of the Third World?
- 21:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I love baby talk.
- 21:45Speaker 1: That was Hindi.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I've noticed that this country is dangerously underpopulated on
- 21:50Speaker 3: my little curry face.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Yeah, there's quite a lot in.
- 21:53Speaker 3: This one where it's like, oh, maybe some of those
- 21:55Speaker 3: people in the documentary had a point.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Oh nineteen ninety nine, those were the days, and I
- 22:01Speaker 1: don't know that i'd maybe the Quickie Mart thing, but
- 22:05Speaker 1: like the head of the Quickie Mart.
- 22:06Speaker 3: But I don't know that it had really been as
- 22:08Speaker 3: on the nose up to this point about having so
- 22:13Speaker 3: many Indian jokes. I feel like for a long time,
- 22:15Speaker 3: a Pooh was an Indian character and that was never
- 22:19Speaker 3: the butt of the joke, and in this episode it
- 22:22Speaker 3: was quite a bunch.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Yeah. I think there were definitely times when it was
- 22:26Speaker 1: the butt of the joke, like, for example, much a
- 22:29Speaker 1: Poo about nothing when he wants to become an American. Yeah, okay,
- 22:32Speaker 1: and he's throwing out his heritage in order to but
- 22:35Speaker 1: when he gets married, the whole organized marriage, when they
- 22:38Speaker 1: actually got married, Yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 3: The organized marriage isn't necessarily played for comedy though, but
- 22:43Speaker 3: it is still playing into a stereotype.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah, they did play into the stereotypes, but this one
- 22:47Speaker 1: felt like very much like Yeah, I didn't actually see
- 22:49Speaker 1: it as an issue in any pointed out. It's like
- 22:51Speaker 1: it kind of is concerning. Yeah, it was a tiny bit,
- 22:55Speaker 1: but the show is filled with stereotypes for sure.
- 22:57Speaker 3: But yeah, it was just one of those ones where
- 22:59Speaker 3: probably would never have thought about it had it not
- 23:02Speaker 3: been had time not passed, and had he not been
- 23:04Speaker 3: retired from the show, where it was hard.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Not to to go, oh, okay, I think enough time
- 23:09Speaker 1: has pass where you can bring him back. I mentioned
- 23:11Speaker 1: a couple of times. I think you could. I think
- 23:12Speaker 1: the Simpsons movie too. I think having it would be
- 23:15Speaker 1: a good marketing point for Poo's coming back. But I
- 23:17Speaker 1: wouldn't just use that Camel Nan Charny just don't we're
- 23:21Speaker 1: going to voice him, bring back voices him as sorry,
- 23:27Speaker 1: there you go yeah, the comedian, Yeah, he could step in.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Can you imagine can you imagine Sassi in ten?
- 23:39Speaker 3: He would have everyone in India watched that episode.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I pitched this tube Matt Saliment. I was like, you've
- 23:45Speaker 1: never done a cricket episode, right, Have the Simpsons go
- 23:49Speaker 1: to India or fall off a cricket and then get
- 23:51Speaker 1: as many Indian cricketers voice actors on the show. You
- 23:55Speaker 1: get a billion views? Yeah? A billion? Yeah daily? Yeah, yeah,
- 24:04Speaker 1: watched the book like hom Enters, the twenty twenty the IPI.
- 24:07Speaker 3: You know when Blue started being spoken about by literally
- 24:09Speaker 3: everyone in the country when they did a cricket episode. Yes, like,
- 24:11Speaker 3: up to that point, it was just a thing between
- 24:13Speaker 3: like parents.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Oh no, it was a big thing. But maybe Lexis
- 24:17Speaker 1: wasn't old enough yet.
- 24:18Speaker 3: No, But I mean, I don't think that if you
- 24:21Speaker 3: were not a parent of a kid of an age
- 24:23Speaker 3: that you were having a conversation about Blue in your
- 24:25Speaker 3: day to day life. We're were a cricket episode. Okay, yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 3: but you guys say kids, I'll say you didn't have kids,
- 24:30Speaker 3: say yeah, yeaheas cricket episode came out and suddenly people
- 24:33Speaker 3: that I knew that were fifty plus whose parents, whose
- 24:36Speaker 3: kids are you know, like twenty whatever. They were like,
- 24:38Speaker 3: how's this blue show? Like everyone that in my world
- 24:42Speaker 3: suddenly was very hyper aware of the show.
- 24:44Speaker 1: It was the first time they did a sport that
- 24:46Speaker 1: appealed to us because they do rugby all the time. Yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 1: and it's like I was gonna say that matted. I
- 24:53Speaker 1: did love. There was an episode where Bandit is trying
- 24:56Speaker 1: to do any sleep No, no, no, no, He's like, quite,
- 24:59Speaker 1: I'm just trying to watch the cricket and it's like
- 25:00Speaker 1: it's just on, it's and then something's happened. He's like,
- 25:03Speaker 1: I suppose what the score is. It's like, that's just
- 25:05Speaker 1: Saturday afternoon when the cricket's on. You know.
- 25:07Speaker 3: I enjoy fruit bat where he sleeps, sleeps and he's
- 25:11Speaker 3: imagining playing touch footy and just has a really cute,
- 25:16Speaker 3: beautiful line in there about how he doesn't get it
- 25:18Speaker 3: to do this anymore because he's looking after you guys.
- 25:20Speaker 3: But it's not a resentful things.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just what happens the evolution of life. Yeah,
- 25:25Speaker 1: any other favorite moments for you. Yeah. I really enjoyed
- 25:30Speaker 1: the Captain in Ikea. She swallowed me whole very very
- 25:37Speaker 1: silly fun I could have done without the tungsten guy. Yeah.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Yeah, not everything in that sequence was. It was a hit,
- 25:46Speaker 3: but it's.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Just one of those moments where I was just like,
- 25:48Speaker 1: I just don't feel like this would have happened in
- 25:50Speaker 1: earlier Simpsons. It did. Didn't make sense.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it didn't make a ton of sense.
- 25:54Speaker 1: They found me in a meteor. I need tungsten to live.
- 25:57Speaker 1: It's not a joke.
- 25:57Speaker 3: It doesn't go anywhere, and it's just an actor like
- 25:59Speaker 3: he's just and afterwards anyway, but yeah, he yeah, because
- 26:02Speaker 3: Marge asking the question and he just starts talking. But
- 26:06Speaker 3: he's something something they found in a meteor who is
- 26:09Speaker 3: trained to speak like a normal person. And then he
- 26:11Speaker 3: turns the bar. I'm actually something they found in the media.
- 26:13Speaker 3: I need tongs them to live. So is it meant
- 26:15Speaker 3: to be someone in a suit or was meant to
- 26:17Speaker 3: be to know I was paying attention, I genuinely thought
- 26:21Speaker 3: it was that him playing a kid. Yeah, maybe I'm wrong, possible,
- 26:26Speaker 3: that was just my reading of it at the time.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Next question, you there eating the Beast. My first question
- 26:32Speaker 1: for you trivia time is what did a pooh used
- 26:36Speaker 1: to get pregnant? A poom anjel. What were the things
- 26:38Speaker 1: they used after easy acts or not? The just so
- 26:42Speaker 1: he's a man like any other of the gravity boots,
- 26:45Speaker 1: sun Jay's bed, and every possible position on top of
- 26:49Speaker 1: I love that line.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Really every position is some variation of on top or underneath. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:54Speaker 3: it's just where you are in three D space. What
- 26:58Speaker 3: what is the logo on up? Who's car?
- 27:02Speaker 1: His bonnet? Snake?
- 27:04Speaker 3: I had it, and I could be wrong and you
- 27:06Speaker 3: could go to Frank Yak. I had it as Garuda,
- 27:09Speaker 3: who's in Egyptian.
- 27:10Speaker 1: God of birds? Is that it? Yeah? That's it? That's
- 27:12Speaker 1: I mean, that looks like a bird. I'll pay that
- 27:15Speaker 1: when you drop some markets like we pay it. I'm
- 27:17Speaker 1: like yeah, he cracks and I'm like, Noah, I didn't
- 27:23Speaker 1: hold it long enough. He's like, oh, but I'm like, dude,
- 27:26Speaker 1: just relax, but just kicking the footy. It doesn't matter.
- 27:28Speaker 1: My next question for you is what time were the
- 27:31Speaker 1: baby's born? Ah, seven eleven.
- 27:35Speaker 3: That would have been a good joke, would have been, Yeah,
- 27:37Speaker 3: it was Lex's actual birth time? Really even eleven am PM,
- 27:41Speaker 3: seven eleven pm.
- 27:42Speaker 1: See that joke. They don't have seven eleven, don't have
- 27:44Speaker 1: seven eleven in America? They do, Yeah they have eleven? Yeah,
- 27:47Speaker 1: yeah they do twelve fifteen?
- 27:48Speaker 3: Am okay, old born, how's me by the way, calling
- 27:51Speaker 3: out the Simpsons for racist shots, but as he works,
- 27:55Speaker 3: it came way too easy for it works at a
- 27:57Speaker 3: convenience store.
- 27:58Speaker 1: That's all.
- 27:59Speaker 3: That was convenience store joke. When they cut to the
- 28:02Speaker 3: choboby Ville news break for the nine none tuplets, whatever,
- 28:07Speaker 3: what channel news?
- 28:09Speaker 1: Oh so it's not channel six, I'm going to say
- 28:11Speaker 1: channel seven, Channel three, Channel three? Uh what number of
- 28:15Speaker 1: apartment does a pooh or do a pool and jewel
- 28:18Speaker 1: live in? Think about it? Okay, seven eleven. What is
- 28:25Speaker 1: the pivotal number of this episode? Eight eight?
- 28:28Speaker 3: Yes, that's it, just apartment eight eight eight or anything?
- 28:32Speaker 3: What brand of I'm going to assume nappies? There are
- 28:35Speaker 3: several packets in the house that are stacked up free
- 28:38Speaker 3: brand of nappies.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Slash wipes that might be sure. I'm sure some riter
- 28:43Speaker 1: spent hours thinking of a name.
- 28:44Speaker 3: But I'd be curious if they did waves.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Woves, w u v s. Yeah, weird? Did a play
- 28:51Speaker 1: on something I don't know? Love Love Day? Anyway? All right?
- 28:55Speaker 1: That is that trivia It is now time for our
- 28:57Speaker 1: review of eight Misbehaving With originally aired on November twenty first,
- 29:02Speaker 1: nineteen ninety nine. Would you like to know the top
- 29:04Speaker 1: three films at US box office when this aired? I
- 29:07Speaker 1: would love do? Is your name Mitchell? Technically? Yeah? Excuse me?
- 29:11Speaker 1: I never called Mitchell. I was like Mitchell.
- 29:12Speaker 3: That doesn't sound right, MITCHA, No, it doesn't. People I
- 29:15Speaker 3: get called Mitchell at work because it's just on teams.
- 29:17Speaker 1: That's what it is.
- 29:18Speaker 3: People who don't know me will call me Mitchell and Mitchell.
- 29:22Speaker 3: It takes me a while to try to work them.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Wean them off that into Mitch what he was this
- 29:28Speaker 3: November twenty first, nineteen ninety nine. So number three was
- 29:31Speaker 3: toy story too. Sorry, yeah, number two a slippy hollow
- 29:34Speaker 3: at number one in the world is not enough?
- 29:36Speaker 1: Food is not enough? Any good?
- 29:42Speaker 3: The world's not enough?
- 29:44Speaker 1: Yeah? Something good? Golden right?
- 29:47Speaker 3: No, God, no, but the world's not enough. That's to
- 29:49Speaker 3: die another day and day. The world's not enough is
- 29:55Speaker 3: the Denise Richards and that's it. I don't think rich
- 29:59Speaker 3: it saw one as a nuclear physicist.
- 30:04Speaker 1: I think she can do anything.
- 30:07Speaker 3: No, I like the world was not enough? What a
- 30:09Speaker 3: lady good follow up to God and Sorry it wasn't
- 30:12Speaker 3: a follow up. It was after Smear and Have Dies.
- 30:14Speaker 3: But anyway, it was a good movie.
- 30:15Speaker 1: She put hairs on my chest, that woman watching Wild
- 30:17Speaker 1: Things when I was like nine hairs everywhere.
- 30:20Speaker 3: I also enjoy I do, frankly. I also enjoyed Dying
- 30:24Speaker 3: the Other Day, even though it is often seen as
- 30:27Speaker 3: the deer of the series and killed the Bond franchise
- 30:30Speaker 3: for a very long time. I just really loved Pitts Brosman.
- 30:33Speaker 1: He was a great Bond. Yeah, but it's because he's
- 30:35Speaker 1: our Bond. Christmas only comes once a year. I started
- 30:40Speaker 1: watching yesterday.
- 30:41Speaker 3: I am just brushing up on a little Danish.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 30:43Speaker 3: He just would delivered the low mower Man. Oh wow,
- 30:48Speaker 3: how was that not what I expected? Going to download
- 30:52Speaker 3: that when I got It's a movie that I forgot existed.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Yeah, And at the start, I'm like, wow, these are
- 30:58Speaker 1: nineteen ninety two special if that's for sure? Yeah, maybe
- 31:01Speaker 1: even earlier.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Jeff Bridges in that. No, that's Tron, Sorry, Jeff Daniels, Yeah,
- 31:08Speaker 3: no is he.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I only watched it the first ten minutes. It's like
- 31:14Speaker 1: Monkey's breaking out of her For years, I've got to
- 31:16Speaker 1: go deep in the credit, So no, he's not. I
- 31:18Speaker 1: don't think so. Okay, the lawn mower Man and there's
- 31:21Speaker 1: two of them, the.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Lawn Actually, you're right. I do remember seeing the lawnmower
- 31:25Speaker 3: Man two in my.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Visits to for well, those movies that just be on
- 31:27Speaker 1: the shop at the video store and you're like, what
- 31:29Speaker 1: is this and the guys that you can't borrow that yet?
- 31:30Speaker 3: Based on a short story by Stephen King.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, yep, this episode, as I said, November twenty first,
- 31:36Speaker 1: nineteen ninety nine, b A B F zero three, written
- 31:39Speaker 1: by Matt Salmon, directed by Stephen de Moore. Chootball gag
- 31:42Speaker 1: Indian burns are not our cultural heritage. Mm hmm like
- 31:50Speaker 1: Chinese whispers Indian burns exhibit F. You're remember the old
- 31:53Speaker 1: Indian giver? Yeah? Is that because the white people are
- 31:58Speaker 1: so racist? They're like that're trying to get their land back.
- 32:01Speaker 1: That's why Indian givers you give a present and take
- 32:03Speaker 1: it back. Good question. Did white people just make it
- 32:06Speaker 1: up saying they gave us the land and then what
- 32:08Speaker 1: to back? The couch gag is the Simpsons sit on
- 32:13Speaker 1: the couch and the war spins around revealing vincent price
- 32:15Speaker 1: and ned Flanners is shackled to the warpside down. We
- 32:18Speaker 1: didn't mention the guest stars. So Jenhooks plays Manjula Jenhooks
- 32:21Speaker 1: fantastic comedian Gary Marshall plays Larry Kid Kill.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Oh okay, the term came. It's actually less racist as
- 32:28Speaker 3: much as it's uprising.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:30Speaker 3: So, I mean, look, this is just my foot. Oh no,
- 32:33Speaker 3: it's a Wikipedia here we go. I don't what's racist.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Yep originated in the fifteenth to the eighteenth century from
- 32:39Speaker 3: a cultural misunderstanding. European settlers misinterpreted the indigenous North Americans
- 32:44Speaker 3: custom of trading gifts. Since the native tribes Lapped lacked
- 32:48Speaker 3: monetary system, they bartered items, exchanging them with the expectation
- 32:52Speaker 3: of a reciprocal or equivalent return. So the Europeans like, ah,
- 32:56Speaker 3: they've given us a gift, like motherfucker, Yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Something in return. Yeah, but I thought Indian giver was
- 33:02Speaker 1: you give a present and then take the same present back.
- 33:04Speaker 3: I feel like that's what it came on came into.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I how did Chinese whispers become Chinese whispers?
- 33:11Speaker 1: Michael Chang? Yeah, I can't trust him. You could not
- 33:14Speaker 1: trust him in the locker room. He was just butch
- 33:20Speaker 1: Patrick plays himself. Yeah, Gary Marshall's that's a big get.
- 33:23Speaker 1: He directed the other Sister did He did like all
- 33:26Speaker 1: those Valentine's Day in the New Year's Day and all
- 33:28Speaker 1: those movies. Oh Rush's director, right, Yeah. He created Happy Days.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Princess Diaries, the Other System, Runaway Bride, Pretty Woman,
- 33:36Speaker 1: he did Pretty Woman, Beaches Overboard. Yeah.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Well that's a good career if your cherry picked the
- 33:41Speaker 3: good ones.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Just have a look at the list. I mean he
- 33:44Speaker 1: created Happy Days. That's a pretty big credit. Yeah, yeah,
- 33:48Speaker 1: all right. So the episode kicks off with what Mitchell, Yeah,
- 33:52Speaker 1: the Ikea Shoop Simpsons shop with the how do you
- 33:56Speaker 1: say that shoop? How would you say that shop? Shop?
- 33:59Speaker 1: That's over the line through it anyway?
- 34:01Speaker 3: Oh?
- 34:01Speaker 1: With the line through it? Yeah, because it's a Swedish store.
- 34:06Speaker 1: I care obviously, marg she likes the green tables. Homer
- 34:09Speaker 1: falls into the bean bag with the Sea Captain Alan Wrench,
- 34:12Speaker 1: which we've already discussed, and then marginally so chatting about
- 34:14Speaker 1: the various pencil holders. The people still use pencil.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Holders, penholders, they still think, I'm sure some people do.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Some people yeah, home and then orders as popland Hugen
- 34:23Speaker 1: and a doodlemoch of doodle mooch doodle munch from the
- 34:26Speaker 1: from the cafeteria. The fox are made of legos Homer
- 34:28Speaker 1: device is a little four way thing to eat everyone's food.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Then a poor man jewel arrive. So what was the
- 34:34Speaker 1: whole point of the Ikea store? There was no point
- 34:36Speaker 1: to the story. It was just when did I Care
- 34:39Speaker 1: become popular? It was being made fun of in the
- 34:42Speaker 1: Wire in like nineteen ninety. It was two thousand and nine,
- 34:45Speaker 1: two thousand, so was the two thousand.
- 34:47Speaker 3: It was this purely that I Care around that time
- 34:50Speaker 3: is coming into the cultural zeat geist and they're like,
- 34:52Speaker 3: we got to get some care jokes into here.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Possibly it wasn't big in Australia. I don't think not yet.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Have you started watching my Wire Blue rays yet?
- 34:59Speaker 3: I have. I was actually I was looking at the
- 35:01Speaker 3: Wire book on your bookshelf. Shit, I need to bring
- 35:03Speaker 3: those down.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I also looking at my TV. I was like, I'd
- 35:05Speaker 1: really like to watch the Wire. I wonder if just
- 35:07Speaker 1: watching it yet? Yeah? No, I wasn't asking what it
- 35:08Speaker 1: looks like. It look good sharp? Yeah, it's just man,
- 35:12Speaker 1: when is it white screen or is it square white
- 35:16Speaker 1: screen when when white screen it used to be square.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and that makes like you know those things where
- 35:21Speaker 3: sometimes that's good, sometimes that bad that sometimes that baym.
- 35:27Speaker 3: The close ups aren't quite as intense. So the interrogation scene,
- 35:29Speaker 3: for example, like that's better in four three because you're
- 35:32Speaker 3: in this small box and it's framed to be like
- 35:34Speaker 3: really tight. But when they discover the bodies, so when
- 35:39Speaker 3: like then they break down the door and it's just
- 35:41Speaker 3: the I think it's the season end of it. The
- 35:43Speaker 3: very least the episode ends and the camera just on
- 35:45Speaker 3: a crane is slowly panning backwards and it just shows
- 35:49Speaker 3: like the width like that was actually one of the
- 35:51Speaker 3: first shots that was like I want to see that
- 35:53Speaker 3: in wide screen because you just see this sense of
- 35:55Speaker 3: scale you didn't get the first time at least as like,
- 35:58Speaker 3: holy fuck, all of these potentially got a murder victim
- 36:02Speaker 3: in them.
- 36:03Speaker 1: I don't think they cropped it either. They've just added
- 36:06Speaker 1: like the stuff that you never used to be able
- 36:07Speaker 1: to see. Yeah, yeah, exactly when you finished to bring
- 36:11Speaker 1: it back. Yes, so then little Ray's coming. Yes, I
- 36:17Speaker 1: don't want get into the wire. Will never stop talking
- 36:19Speaker 1: about it, so pod. Some somewmer already has there'd be
- 36:22Speaker 1: a wire pod, but there's no reason we can't do
- 36:23Speaker 1: one in the whole. Get John Cena on what's his name,
- 36:26Speaker 1: the actual actor, the main actor. It sounds like John Cena,
- 36:29Speaker 1: who sounds like John Cena, the mayor actor MC Daddy West. Yeah,
- 36:34Speaker 1: he sounds like John Cena. Put him next to John
- 36:37Speaker 1: Cena and I know, but when he's doing his Baltimore
- 36:41Speaker 1: Baltimore is it and it's also got has they got
- 36:43Speaker 1: fat John sena in it? Fat John c Yeah, yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 1: he's John Cena. That's pretty literally maybe police. Yeah, so
- 37:00Speaker 1: this is where poor Angula arrived. Are you guys still married? Yeah?
- 37:03Speaker 1: Pay up, Marge. So I think that's just referring to
- 37:06Speaker 1: the fact that they haven't probably been mentioned since he
- 37:08Speaker 1: got married, or just reminding the viewers they've been buying
- 37:10Speaker 1: lamps that don't look like lamps, and Angula's smitt never
- 37:13Speaker 1: Maggie and Marge. I think she was talking baby talk,
- 37:16Speaker 1: but it was Hindi as you were saying, hoping this.
- 37:17Speaker 1: His kids are great because you can teach them to
- 37:19Speaker 1: hate things that you hate, and they basically raise themselves
- 37:22Speaker 1: there because of the Internet and who thinks USA is
- 37:24Speaker 1: dangerously underpopulated, so they decide to have a child. Him
- 37:27Speaker 1: saying that he wants to be a father pretty much
- 37:30Speaker 1: is just like what is it with women? You say
- 37:32Speaker 1: you want to be a father, It's like a massive
- 37:33Speaker 1: tone onto them. Mangula just pounces on him. She's like,
- 37:35Speaker 1: take me now. Yeah.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Well, Mandela is pretty clucky in this moment as well, though,
- 37:39Speaker 3: like she's already like gravitated towards Maggie as.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Ash seemed clucky since having legs and you have gone,
- 37:45Speaker 1: oh lady, have your thought about it?
- 37:49Speaker 3: No, no, I wouldn't say that. I think Ash has
- 37:52Speaker 3: yearned for the for those moments of a newborn game. Yeah,
- 37:57Speaker 3: but never, it's never been seriously on the table. As
- 37:59Speaker 3: she mentioned the babies, Yeah, the baby smell. She doesn't
- 38:03Speaker 3: mentioned the smell not but I think it goes our.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Friends have babies, Nicola smells. I'm like, Nicola, don't even
- 38:07Speaker 1: think about someone else's baby. Don't think about it. It's
- 38:10Speaker 1: not happening. Because what happens. She's like, She's like, you
- 38:15Speaker 1: have another one. She's like and then she's im stop
- 38:17Speaker 1: and pause. Remember remember She's like, oh shit, I don't
- 38:23Speaker 1: want to. But who was now chilling his loins in
- 38:27Speaker 1: the ice cream cooler?
- 38:28Speaker 3: I can't imagine that would help. That's gonna slow this out,
- 38:31Speaker 3: That's what I thought. Yeah, it's like you don't want
- 38:32Speaker 3: to be doing that, the nice and temperate hey.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Boo sitting in the ice cream cooler. Eh, like chilling
- 38:38Speaker 1: my loins?
- 38:38Speaker 3: I increase the chances of impregnating my wife.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Well, he too much information?
- 38:44Speaker 2: Thanks for the mental picture.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Why don't you tell us what you really think? You
- 38:48Speaker 1: stop spouting those hackneyed quips. Could you be anymore? Hello? Look,
- 38:57Speaker 1: just give me some ice cream? How about one not
- 39:02Speaker 1: touching your ass? What? Manru that has begun to ovulent you?
- 39:07Speaker 2: Thanks for sharing.
- 39:10Speaker 1: More than I wanted to know. I wasn't a fan
- 39:13Speaker 1: of the too much information. It's just.
- 39:17Speaker 3: I've gone on agnause him about how much. Not only
- 39:20Speaker 3: did I do not like it here, I hated anyone
- 39:21Speaker 3: that ever said it in my childhood.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Yeah, a manjel has begun overulating, so he leaves, and
- 39:27Speaker 1: then the pregnancy tests baby baby lemon. So they're not
- 39:30Speaker 1: preying all that sex for nothing. Then Homer is now
- 39:32Speaker 1: cooking a barbecue, just putting cans on the on the barbecue.
- 39:35Speaker 1: I didn't mind this. Are you sure you shouldn't open them?
- 39:38Speaker 1: The cancel in the flavor says nothing, Okay, that's the lid.
- 39:42Speaker 1: I't you do it us? Homer tos some some steps,
- 39:46Speaker 1: like when you decide to have kids, decided maybe it's
- 39:49Speaker 1: just happened. No, that is I actually did really enjoy that.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I won't side bar too much on that, but I
- 39:57Speaker 1: it's just a jab at middle class society where it's
- 40:00Speaker 1: like we just pump out kids with av and trying.
- 40:02Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of things. It's that, but
- 40:04Speaker 3: you could also read into that that people who have
- 40:08Speaker 3: not had to struggle to get pregnant can't possibly relate
- 40:11Speaker 3: to the pain and the anguish and all that stuff
- 40:14Speaker 3: that other people have had to go through. That, yeah,
- 40:16Speaker 3: are trying hard. So I'm very much Homer, you are
- 40:19Speaker 3: as well.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and you want baby, me give you a baby.
- 40:24Speaker 1: You want baby now? Yeah? But on top and underneath
- 40:28Speaker 1: that slavey, I was like, all right, everybody, are we
- 40:32Speaker 1: gonna leave it there? I hope you enjoyed that. Little
