  Speaker 1: have a baby who's born and they say your baby's

  Speaker 1: going to be born with this difficulty or that difficulty.

  Speaker 1: And your baby's not born with this difficulty or that difficulty. Um,

  Speaker 1: And your response to that is, of course, to give
• 1:05
  Speaker 1: praise to God. But we've got to be careful even

  Speaker 1: how we do that. We heard about it. We sent

  Speaker 1: out the notice. We had people praying for us. And

  Speaker 1: because all those people were praying for us, that baby
• 1:17
  Speaker 1: was born, and that baby didn't have one thing wrong

  Speaker 1: with them. Here's what you just said, without even meaning it.

  Speaker 1: All those of you Christians out there who had babies
• 1:29
  Speaker 1: born with defects... You didn't have enough people praying for you.

  Speaker 1: We did. Therefore, we got what we were after. You didn't.

  Speaker 1: Did you mean that? No. But essentially, that's what you said.

  Speaker 1: Why was that baby whole? Because the providence of God

  Speaker 1: in and everything was clear. Praise God. We prayed and

  Speaker 1: it was clear. Because we believed and we claimed this

  Speaker 1: verse and we claimed that verse. Here's what you just said.

  Speaker 1: All of those of you out there who went to

  Speaker 1: the doctor and they said something that looked suspicious. And

  Speaker 1: then you went back and it was more than suspicious.

  Speaker 1: And now you have cancer. You didn't pray as hard

  Speaker 1: as I did. No, God smiled on you in his providence.

  Speaker 1: our testimony, we say things like, you know, I was

  Speaker 1: an alcoholic. And all of a sudden I prayed to

  Speaker 1: receive Jesus Christ. And that very moment I lost the

  Speaker 1: taste for alcohol, never desired it again. Because that's what

  Speaker 1: God will do when he saves you for real. You

  Speaker 1: didn't mean it, but here's what you just said. All

  Speaker 1: you people out there who know Jesus and struggle every

  Speaker 1: time you get a whiff of alcohol, you didn't get

  Speaker 1: what I got. You're not as saved as I am.

  Speaker 1: You're not as much of a Christian as I am.

  Speaker 1: Because you still have a struggle in your life. You

  Speaker 1: still have a fight in your life. You still have

  Speaker 1: a battle in your life. If you were a real Christian...

  Speaker 1: That just wouldn't be the case. Yeah, we started this

  Speaker 1: business and we prayed over this business and we did

  Speaker 1: this and that and the other and we applied this

  Speaker 1: principle and that principle because we get that. We made

  Speaker 1: this many millions of dollars. You didn't mean it. What

  Speaker 1: you just said is all you people out there struggling

  Speaker 1: in your businesses, failing in your businesses. You didn't put

  Speaker 1: your coin in the right slot. You didn't push the
• 3:59
  Speaker 1: right button. Because ultimately, I am who I am. I

  Speaker 1: have what I have. I've received what I received. Notice

  Speaker 1: in every sentence, in every one of those instances, because

  Speaker 1: I had enough people pray. Because I claimed the right verse.

  Speaker 1: Because I cried the right amount of tears. Because I

  Speaker 1: Applied the right principles because I, I, I, listen, our
• 4:35
  Speaker 1: testimony ought to be about God and his glory, not
• 4:40
  Speaker 1: about us and ours. The difference between me and the
• 4:47
  Speaker 1: man who goes in and hears, you know what? It's
• 4:50
  Speaker 1: worse than we thought. Has nothing to do with me.

  Speaker 1: And it has everything to do with the providence of God.

  Speaker 1: The difference between my hardships and another man's hardships have

  Speaker 1: nothing to do with my worth. There's not a man
• 5:15
  Speaker 1: alive who deserves worse than I do. Of course, the

  Speaker 1: flip side of that is there's not a man alive
• 5:21
  Speaker 1: who deserves better than I do either. We all deserve
• 5:25
  Speaker 1: death and hell. The severity of your hardships is all
• 5:31
  Speaker 1: about what God determined and decreed for your life to
• 5:36
  Speaker 1: maximize the glory that he gets. That's it. This baby lived. Why?

  Speaker 1: Because in the providence of God, the life of that
• 5:49
  Speaker 1: child maximizes the glory that God gains from this particular
• 5:54
  Speaker 1: life because of what He's going to do with the
• 5:56
  Speaker 1: life of that child. This child did not live. Why?

  Speaker 1: Because in the providence of God, the suffering that this
• 6:05
  Speaker 1: family is now enduring is maximizing the glory that God
• 6:10
  Speaker 1: will receive from this particular family in this set of circumstances.

  Speaker 1: Not because one was more worthy than the other. But
• 6:24
  Speaker 1: in spite of the fact that neither of them was worthy.

  Speaker 1: As we live our lives before one another, and as
• 6:35
  Speaker 1: we live our lives before a lost and hurting and
• 6:37
  Speaker 1: dying world, please, please, my brothers and my sisters, do
• 6:43
  Speaker 1: not communicate a picture of Christianity that says, come over
• 6:48
  Speaker 1: to our side. Better guess. Because the fact is. The

  Speaker 1: rain falls. The floods rise. And the winds beat against

  Speaker 1: our house. Just like they do the other. And what

  Speaker 1: I got coming. Neither you nor I will get to

  Speaker 1: see this side of glory. Another day of health and strength,

  Speaker 1: that's not my reward. Another dollar to spend, that's not

  Speaker 1: my reward. Those things pale in comparison to the reward
• 7:33
  Speaker 1: one receives for following Christ. My reward is eternal in
• 7:39
  Speaker 1: the heavenlies. I'm just a pilgrim passing through this barren land.

  Speaker 1: Preach the gospel accurately. Live the gospel faithfully. And when

  Speaker 1: you go through your difficult days, use it to bring

  Speaker 1: much glory and honor to God. When you go through
• 8:15
  Speaker 1: your mountaintop experiences, use them to bring much glory and
• 8:19
  Speaker 1: much honor to God. And don't fall into the trap
• 8:29
  Speaker 1: that makes God some sort of cosmic bellhop. And the
• 8:34
  Speaker 1: Christian life, a matter of just trying to figure out
• 8:37
  Speaker 1: the right formula of prayers and scriptures to claim and
• 8:43
  Speaker 1: promises to claim and these other sorts of things that
• 8:46
  Speaker 1: ultimately end up in maximum profit potential. That's not the gospel.

  Speaker 1: It's not. The gospel says in wealth, I bring praise

  Speaker 1: and glory to God. In want, I bring praise and
• 9:08
  Speaker 1: glory to God. In sickness, I bring praise and glory
• 9:12
  Speaker 1: to God. In health, I bring praise and glory to God.
• 9:20
  Speaker 1: Because this is not the be-all to end-all. I'm living
• 9:25
  Speaker 1: for a city whose builder and maker is God. See,
• 9:32
  Speaker 1: that's why the gospel is astonishing. That's why the teaching
• 9:36
  Speaker 1: of Jesus is astonishing. Then and now.
