- 0:37Speaker 1: We're going to try to focus on making sure that
- 0:41Speaker 1: the template is perfect. so that it just feels good
- 0:46Speaker 1: and that you enjoy it and that you keep it

- 0:57Speaker 1: choose to purchase one. Today's guest made me feel welcome
- 1:01Speaker 1: when I got here to Tennessee. He's arguably the most
- 1:06Speaker 1: popular musician on the planet. He's the East Tennessee Elvis, baby.
- 1:11Speaker 1: He's You know what he is. I mean, he's so prolific.
- 1:15Speaker 1: He's very competitive, and I admire his attention to detail.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Today's guest is one of a kind, Mr. Morgan Wallace.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Shine on me, and I will find you.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, good to see you, bro.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Good to see you, too, man.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's awesome, man. What's been going on? Yeah, my
- 1:49Speaker 1: mom was visiting for my birthday. We went to the Opry.
- 1:52Speaker 1: You did? Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Cool, man.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It was cool, dude. Trace Adkins.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Did she come up here a lot or no?
- 1:58Speaker 1: No, she hadn't been here since I moved here.
- 2:00Speaker 3: It was your birthday?
- 2:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Oh, happy birthday.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks, man.
- 2:02Speaker 3: When is your birthday?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Two days ago, March 19th.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Okay, cool. Yeah, my parents are in town as well,
- 2:08Speaker 3: but I'm trying to get them to move here.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Oh, you are?
- 2:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm working on that. That's been going on for
- 2:13Speaker 3: the last few weeks now, so we'll see. Yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, your dad's so funny, dude.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Yeah, he's the man.
- 2:19Speaker 1: He's unreal. Dude, because we went on, what was, we
- 2:22Speaker 1: went with, is it Morgan Wallen, the foundation, Morgan Wallen Foundation?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Up there in the Greenville area. Yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah. During the flood stuff?
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, during Hurricane Helene, yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 1: And your dad came, and it was awesome, man. They
- 2:34Speaker 1: had the food truck, they had, you know, they were
- 2:36Speaker 1: doing food drives and- I met some people up there
- 2:40Speaker 1: and visited the houses and stuff. That was awesome.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. That was a cool day, man.
- 2:44Speaker 1: It was good.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I wish we did stuff like that more often. I
- 2:47Speaker 3: guess we could.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Well, I think that's why. I mean, you have a
- 2:50Speaker 1: foundation that can do it when you're not able to
- 2:52Speaker 1: do it.
- 2:52Speaker 3: For sure.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But, yeah, I agree with you. It feels good.
- 2:55Speaker 3: To actually get out and do it yourself. You know
- 2:56Speaker 3: what I mean? Yeah. It can be a little stressful.
- 2:59Speaker 1: You know, you got to.
- 3:00Speaker 3: You got to keep it timed up right to where
- 3:01Speaker 3: you're not sticking around in one place too long and
- 3:04Speaker 3: all that stuff. You know, you got to be a
- 3:05Speaker 3: little tactful about it, but it's good.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and Tony Vitello, is that his name? Mm-hmm. Yeah, dude,
- 3:13Speaker 1: he came out. He's the best.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Yeah, he's cool too, man.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Dude, he's cool.
- 3:16Speaker 3: He always helps with stuff involving our foundation, and we
- 3:20Speaker 3: stay in touch on a regular basis.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Y'all do?
- 3:22Speaker 3: Yeah. I tried to invite him to a bracket the
- 3:26Speaker 3: other day. I was like, you're probably not allowed to
- 3:28Speaker 3: do this, are you? He said, No.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:31Speaker 3: All right.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'm in that bracket, baby.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I tried to invite him into that bracket.
- 3:35Speaker 1: You and me are tied right now. I think we're
- 3:37Speaker 1: in first.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah, we are.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I saw that. Yeah, we are.
- 3:39Speaker 3: I checked this morning.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Dude, yeah, one thing that was crazy about your dad, though,
- 3:42Speaker 1: he was fasting whenever we were doing that.
- 3:45Speaker 3: That's right.
- 3:45Speaker 1: He'd been on a 40-day fast.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Yeah, he's done that for like as long as I
- 3:49Speaker 3: can remember. I remember him like when I was growing up,
- 3:52Speaker 3: he would just go and like stay out in the wild,
- 3:56Speaker 3: you know, in a tent or something and just. drink
- 3:58Speaker 3: apple juice or something. I'm like, dude, how, how is
- 4:02Speaker 3: this possible?
- 4:03Speaker 1: You know, that doesn't sound like that. That sounds like
- 4:05Speaker 1: hiding from your wife.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 3: He needed some space. Didn't have enough money to get,
- 4:10Speaker 3: get a trailer or something.
- 4:12Speaker 1: But that was, I just didn't, cause it was crazy.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Cause I'd just been looking into fasting. Cause people say
- 4:16Speaker 1: it like, if you fast, it'll help like eat away
- 4:19Speaker 1: the cancer cells that are in your body. So when
- 4:21Speaker 1: he was like, I've been on 40 days.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Well, they say that only takes like a couple days
- 4:25Speaker 3: to do that, what you're talking about, right?
- 4:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Like if you fast for a couple days, it'll do that,
- 4:28Speaker 3: I think.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, that's right. Once you get past 48 hours.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I think what he was doing it for was
- 4:36Speaker 3: spiritual purposes.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:37Speaker 3: That's what he used to do it for, and that's
- 4:39Speaker 3: probably what he's doing it for now.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah, a team of researchers from MSK has shown for
- 4:43Speaker 1: the first time that fasting can reprogram the metabolism of
- 4:46Speaker 1: natural killer cells, helping them to survive in the harsh environment.
- 4:49Speaker 1: in and around tumors while improving their cancer-fighting ability. But
- 4:52Speaker 1: it just blew my mind. I was like, God, this
- 4:54Speaker 1: dude's on 40 days. Put this dude back in the Bible.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I mean, dude, I don't understand how that's physically possible.
- 5:01Speaker 3: I pretty much have been, for the last little while,
- 5:04Speaker 3: fast until noon. I'll do my workout and everything in
- 5:10Speaker 3: the first part of the day without eating. But I
- 5:12Speaker 3: can't imagine— going a whole day without doing that to.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Be honest he's got some bandwidth on him man.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah he's a pretty strong willed guy he's.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Always so chipper dude yeah I just I'd love to
- 5:22Speaker 1: get and hang out with him that was probably and
- 5:23Speaker 1: he tells stories from like being in the military and
- 5:25Speaker 1: stuff some of that stuff is bonkers.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Oh yeah some of that stuff ain't gonna be repeated
- 5:29Speaker 3: on here he makes me look calm.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Dude that's the crazy part you start talking to him
- 5:34Speaker 1: you're like oh well some of this checks out for
- 5:36Speaker 1: sure it checks out we don't need a DNA test
- 5:38Speaker 1: in this family um but you said they're moving down here.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Yeah I'm trying to get them to um We'll see
- 5:44Speaker 3: how it goes, but I'm working on it. I've been
- 5:46Speaker 3: talking to him about it for a while. But, you know,
- 5:50Speaker 3: just somebody uprooting their entire life to come somewhere. But
- 5:53Speaker 3: me and my sister live down here. It's a tricky,
- 5:56Speaker 3: you know, it's always tricky getting stuff like that to happen,
- 5:58Speaker 3: but we're working on it.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a lot, man. Is it, I know you
- 6:04Speaker 1: have a son, Indio.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Indio, yeah. His name's Indigo, but I call him Indy.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Indy, right.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 1: What's that been like, dude? Because that's been probably one
- 6:12Speaker 1: of the biggest things in your life, I'm sure. I mean,
- 6:15Speaker 1: outside of your– I mean, like.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, I think– I don't even know
- 6:18Speaker 3: how to ask that question. I think it just gets
- 6:19Speaker 3: better and better as, you know, the older he gets.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I mean, it's always been cool. But, you know, when
- 6:23Speaker 3: he's– he's four years old now. He'll be five this year.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Just the personality that keeps coming out and the relationship
- 6:29Speaker 3: that you build, you know, and he's got a little–
- 6:32Speaker 3: he's got a little sass on him. Like, he's got
- 6:34Speaker 3: a little attitude, you know, which is– I like. I
- 6:36Speaker 3: like that spunk, you know. Like yesterday, my dad was
- 6:40Speaker 3: telling him he was trying to get him to eat.
- 6:44Speaker 3: It's kind of a task to get him to eat,
- 6:45Speaker 3: to sit still long enough to eat, you know. And
- 6:49Speaker 3: my dad was like, hey, man, if you don't eat,
- 6:51Speaker 3: I'm going to put you in the bedroom. You got
- 6:53Speaker 3: to go to sleep or whatever, you know. I don't
- 6:54Speaker 3: know exactly what my dad said to him, but he
- 6:56Speaker 3: looked at my dad and he said, I don't want
- 6:58Speaker 3: you to stay here anymore.
- 7:00Speaker 1: All day, brother. Wow.
- 7:03Speaker 3: But i just i just i mean like it's just
- 7:06Speaker 3: hilarious you know and.
- 7:07Speaker 1: You're behind your dad you're telling him like yeah oh.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah uh just anything to keep
- 7:13Speaker 3: him keep him rocking but he's uh he's a sweetheart
- 7:15Speaker 3: but whenever you get him yeah oh yeah he uh
- 7:18Speaker 3: he's almost too sweet he he's too nice to everyone
- 7:21Speaker 3: like people he doesn't know you know like hey man
- 7:23Speaker 3: so We don't like everybody, man. We don't know these people, man.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Stranger danger, baby.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. So I'm trying to teach him a little
- 7:31Speaker 3: bit of that.
- 7:31Speaker 1: He's wild, definitely. He emailed me the other day asking
- 7:34Speaker 1: me to send him some Zens. I was like, dude,
- 7:35Speaker 1: you got to.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I couldn't believe he figured out how to get
- 7:39Speaker 3: a hold of the iPad like that. I'm not really
- 7:42Speaker 3: big on letting him sit around with an iPad, but
- 7:45Speaker 3: I guess he got my nieces or something. She probably
- 7:48Speaker 3: had him send Zens. He probably had hers in the email,
- 7:51Speaker 3: you know?
- 7:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Hey, Haven, type this out for me.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Threes or sixes? Does he have a....
- 8:04Speaker 3: I just downgraded to the threes, man. I'm weaning myself off.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Are you? I don't know.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I might just be putting two in.
- 8:11Speaker 1: That's just a little bit of mouth math, homie. But
- 8:16Speaker 1: you'll see a dude with like 11 threes, and I'm like, bitch,
- 8:19Speaker 1: just get a damn 20 or something.
- 8:21Speaker 3: That's like Andrew.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Oh, your cousin?
- 8:24Speaker 3: Yes, yes. He'll have a multitude in there. He's only
- 8:30Speaker 3: on the citrus, though.
- 8:31Speaker 1: He's hilarious, dude. Well, I'll ask you about him in
- 8:34Speaker 1: a little bit, man. All right. Does your son have
- 8:37Speaker 1: a favorite song of yours or anything?
- 8:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a song that's not out yet. This album
- 8:41Speaker 3: that I've been working on, this is the first time
- 8:44Speaker 3: where it seems like he's really starting to put two
- 8:47Speaker 3: and two together. Yeah. I would come home after I'd
- 8:52Speaker 3: been writing and I'd show him songs this time. This
- 8:54Speaker 3: is the first time that he's ever cared. and there's
- 8:57Speaker 3: a song called Eyes Are Closed on my record, and
- 9:01Speaker 3: I brought it home that night. We wrote it that
- 9:03Speaker 3: day and took it home that night, and I was
- 9:05Speaker 3: just playing. I wasn't really playing it for him. I
- 9:07Speaker 3: just had it kind of playing in the background because
- 9:08Speaker 3: it was my first time hearing the demo of what
- 9:10Speaker 3: we had just done that day, and he was in
- 9:12Speaker 3: the background, and he kind of moseyed on over there
- 9:14Speaker 3: and started being like, ooh, what's this? And then after
- 9:18Speaker 3: it was done, he said, I like that song, Daddy.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Really?
- 9:21Speaker 3: And it was like the first time he had ever
- 9:23Speaker 3: done that, so it was a special moment for me,
- 9:25Speaker 3: something I'll never forget, and he said, play that again
- 9:27Speaker 3: you know and i was like yeah this song's a
- 9:30Speaker 3: hit for me no matter what you know so um
- 9:34Speaker 3: that was the first time i had really seen him
- 9:37Speaker 3: like all those you know dots start connecting yeah i
- 9:41Speaker 3: bet that's special for a while he uh he thought
- 9:44Speaker 3: that soul by john michael mcgrummer he thought that was
- 9:46Speaker 3: me singing he thought he was like play daddy's fast
- 9:49Speaker 3: song he called it the fast song He thought.
- 9:51Speaker 1: That was me.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I said, damn, man. I mean, that dude sounds pretty good,
- 9:54Speaker 3: but come on. Yeah, I know.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And then he's just bidding on pigs at his daycare?
- 10:05Speaker 3: Yeah, probably.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Well, I went down to the Grundy County. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:11Speaker 3: He called it the fast song, and I finally broke
- 10:13Speaker 3: it to him. I said, that ain't me, dude.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, and the email he sent me, he's like, yeah,
- 10:17Speaker 1: you need to listen to my father's hit, Cotton Eye Joe,
- 10:20Speaker 1: as well. Oh, yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Well, we are from Knoxville, you know. He's seen that
- 10:23Speaker 3: sign a few times.
- 10:25Speaker 1: That checks out, man. As you make more music, so
- 10:29Speaker 1: the new album, I'm the Problem? Mm-hmm. as you make
- 10:32Speaker 1: more music, because you have been so prolific, I think
- 10:36Speaker 1: that's the word. What does prolific mean?
- 10:38Speaker 3: I think that's the right word, too.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Okay. But I don't know if either one of us
- 10:42Speaker 1: should be.
- 10:43Speaker 3: If there were the dictionary, guys.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, definitely. It's like a lot. Producing much fruit.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Producing much fruit, foliage, or offspring, actually, it says.
- 10:54Speaker 3: I ain't been that prolific in that term, but yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Presenting one plentiful, it says. Producing many works. But does
- 11:02Speaker 1: it get tougher to like, okay, how do I have,
- 11:06Speaker 1: do I not have a song that sounds, that's similar
- 11:08Speaker 1: to a song I previous had? Because when you have
- 11:10Speaker 1: so many songs, does that get a little bit tough
- 11:11Speaker 1: or what's that like?
- 11:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it does, you know?
- 11:14Speaker 1: Like, has there been a great song that's like you
- 11:16Speaker 1: guys have put together and then you're like, oh man,
- 11:18Speaker 1: it's just a little too close to this or?
- 11:22Speaker 3: Well, for this album, I feel like I just didn't
- 11:24Speaker 3: let it get to that point. You know, at least
- 11:26Speaker 3: if I was a part of writing it, you know,
- 11:27Speaker 3: I think, I can't remember exactly how many ones I
- 11:30Speaker 3: was and wasn't a part of writing. But if a
- 11:34Speaker 3: song came in as a pitch, I kind of knew immediately.
- 11:38Speaker 3: I was like, oh, these people are writing. This might
- 11:40Speaker 3: have made my last record. Maybe. Probably not. But, you know,
- 11:45Speaker 3: it's like that's what it felt like to me.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Right.
- 11:49Speaker 3: A lot of the pitches were that.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yeah, because I guess people are just going, they don't
- 11:52Speaker 1: know where your next step is and who you are.
- 11:55Speaker 3: There was a select group of writers that I kind of,
- 11:57Speaker 3: you know, told a little bit what I was trying
- 12:00Speaker 3: to accomplish, you know, and I feel like that really
- 12:02Speaker 3: helped me find a certain one of the sounds that's
- 12:05Speaker 3: on my record. But for me, when I'm writing, I
- 12:08Speaker 3: kind of, you know, you can kind of tell from
- 12:09Speaker 3: the idea almost if the song is going to be
- 12:12Speaker 3: similar or not, you know, and that was something that
- 12:14Speaker 3: was tougher for me because a lot of, you know,
- 12:15Speaker 3: a lot of the things that were successful and that
- 12:18Speaker 3: were easy in the past were just like, Whiskey, drinking,
- 12:21Speaker 3: you know, like all that stuff. And I've kind of
- 12:23Speaker 3: just almost explored every angle of that that's possible. You know,
- 12:27Speaker 3: like there's still some possible ways to get that in there.
- 12:32Speaker 3: But I tried to dig deeper, man. And, you know,
- 12:34Speaker 3: a lot of my guys that I write with, we
- 12:37Speaker 3: kind of kept a– at least for me, when I
- 12:40Speaker 3: was writing, we kept five or six guys. We didn't
- 12:42Speaker 3: always write together. But, you know, that kind of core
- 12:44Speaker 3: group of guys, we all just had a good sense
- 12:47Speaker 3: of what we were shooting for. And just trying not
- 12:50Speaker 3: to say the same thing that I've said before and,
- 12:52Speaker 3: you know, incorporating new things. So I feel like it
- 12:55Speaker 3: was harder. You know, I had to work harder.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Like, what do you mean? Like, find a new angle?
- 13:01Speaker 3: Yeah, just finding new angles and just thinking up ideas,
- 13:03Speaker 3: you know. And there's, you know, or just maybe somebody
- 13:06Speaker 3: had an idea and they brought it in. And I'm like, well,
- 13:09Speaker 3: that's pretty good. But, like, trying to find a way
- 13:11Speaker 3: to make it. something different, you know, like it would,
- 13:15Speaker 3: sounds like that idea would have been on the last record,
- 13:17Speaker 3: but maybe I can flip this or flip that into
- 13:19Speaker 3: making it something that's more unique, you know? So just
- 13:23Speaker 3: trying to dig deeper and not just, not just saying,
- 13:25Speaker 3: oh yeah, not just being content with something, you know,
- 13:27Speaker 3: just digging deeper.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, taking it easy.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Yeah, just digging deeper.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Cause you can kind of, yeah, it's funny, I was
- 13:31Speaker 1: talking to Charlie Hanson the other night. Dude, that guy, bro,
- 13:35Speaker 1: him and Marissa, is that his, Marissa?
- 13:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Marissa, yeah.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Bro, they're hilarious, bro.
- 13:40Speaker 3: They are hilarious.
- 13:42Speaker 1: She's so funny, dude.
- 13:44Speaker 3: She kind of keeps him in check, I feel like.
- 13:47Speaker 1: The pairing, both of them, because he's kind of so
- 13:50Speaker 1: rough around the edges. Maybe that's not a crazy thing
- 13:54Speaker 1: to say about him.
- 13:55Speaker 3: No, definitely not. I think he'd probably agree with that.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Yeah, he's just so real.
- 14:00Speaker 3: He's a pretty blunt guy. Yes. Pretty blunt. Yes, he is.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Which I've always loved that about him. When he first
- 14:06Speaker 3: got to town, I guess that was probably who we wrote,
- 14:10Speaker 3: if I know me. I mean, I had to be
- 14:12Speaker 3: either 17 or 18 when I first met him Wow.
- 14:16Speaker 3: And 2017 or 18, not when I was 17 or
- 14:17Speaker 3: 18 years old. But, you know, he kind of, I
- 14:22Speaker 3: think he came from L.A. So he had like this,
- 14:26Speaker 3: I don't know, I guess it's different out there, you know.
- 14:29Speaker 3: It seems like it's like a dick measuring contest out
- 14:31Speaker 3: there a lot.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Well, people are probably, yeah, that could be true.
- 14:34Speaker 3: And I think he had brought a lot of that
- 14:36Speaker 3: mindset to Nashville, you know. And whenever we were first writing,
- 14:39Speaker 3: I'm like, hey, man, you ain't got to be like that,
- 14:41Speaker 3: you know. Like, it ain't like that here.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:45Speaker 3: You know, so we just, and I would give him
- 14:47Speaker 3: a hard time when he would be acting like that.
- 14:49Speaker 3: I'd always, you know, talk shit and stuff. So we
- 14:50Speaker 3: just became instant friends, like that kind of friend.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I could see that 100%, dude. Yeah. Because what did
- 14:55Speaker 1: I say? Oh, he'd gotten married, right? And his wife
- 14:57Speaker 1: one night, I think that she probably had a cocktail
- 14:59Speaker 1: or two and invited me to their wedding, right? Yeah.
- 15:01Speaker 1: And I had to work that weekend. But I saw pictures.
- 15:04Speaker 1: You went. I think Hardy went. It looked like a
- 15:06Speaker 1: good time.
- 15:06Speaker 3: I mean, it was a beautiful wedding, man.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I mean.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Really, really beautiful.
- 15:10Speaker 1: It was on an island somewhere.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Yeah, an island marauder. It was like, you know, you
- 15:13Speaker 3: heard of that show Bloodline? Oh, yeah. It was that
- 15:18Speaker 3: compound where that was filmed.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Oh, damn.
- 15:20Speaker 3: So it was legit.
- 15:22Speaker 1: God. Yeah, and so when I saw it, I said, hey, man,
- 15:25Speaker 1: I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the wedding. He's like, well,
- 15:27Speaker 1: you know, we weren't really expecting you there.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know if they... I was in the
- 15:31Speaker 3: damn wedding, and I don't know if they was expecting
- 15:33Speaker 3: me there. I showed up about an hour before it
- 15:35Speaker 3: was supposed to start and left before it was over, but...
- 15:38Speaker 3: I was proud to be there, man. It was cool.
- 15:41Speaker 3: I really appreciated it.
- 15:43Speaker 1: It was cool. But he's just like, look, man, we
- 15:46Speaker 1: don't super know each other that good, he said.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:47Speaker 1: But it was so like just the realest shit ever.
- 15:50Speaker 1: He's like, and if we become better friends and. You know,
- 15:52Speaker 1: and that happens, then, yeah, man, I'd expect you to
- 15:55Speaker 1: be at my, you know, if I get divorced or
- 15:57Speaker 1: if I do a renew of the vows.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I'd expect you to be at my divorce and now.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Dude, it was just like, and I was like, dude,
- 16:04Speaker 1: you're so right. I was like, and it didn't make
- 16:06Speaker 1: me want to get to know him more because it
- 16:08Speaker 1: was like just cutting through the bullshit.
- 16:10Speaker 3: I love that. That's a definite, that's an accurate way
- 16:13Speaker 3: of describing him.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Which I think is probably what makes him a good songwriter, too,
- 16:17Speaker 1: because it's like you got to, like, if you too
- 16:20Speaker 1: much bull, it's like, if you can cut through the bullshit.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Yeah. He's, he's, he'll definitely tell you like, or if you're,
- 16:26Speaker 3: if you're on something, he's like, man, that sucks. You know?
- 16:29Speaker 3: And that's what, I mean, I feel like I have
- 16:31Speaker 3: a pretty good gauge of, of, you know, what's good
- 16:33Speaker 3: and what's not, but like, it's, it's nice to have
- 16:35Speaker 3: another person in the room who will tell you straight up.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Cause especially when you, when you do get to like,
- 16:40Speaker 3: get to this level, people sometimes don't check you the
- 16:42Speaker 3: way they should, you know, they'll just let you rock
- 16:45Speaker 3: with it and you know, whatever.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Damn, dude. No, it's just interesting to hear you say that.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I had a guy a few years ago. I had
- 16:52Speaker 1: taken out a guy. We went to lunch, and he's married,
- 16:56Speaker 1: and we're both straight. But we went and had lunch together.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Thanks for clarifying, man. But, yeah, he's been like a
- 17:03Speaker 1: manager of some of the most popular comedians over time.
- 17:06Speaker 1: And I was talking to him. He goes, well, you
- 17:07Speaker 1: kind of have to evolve with your audience. He's like,
- 17:10Speaker 1: going back to kind of what you said earlier about
- 17:13Speaker 1: some people probably present songs to you. that would have
- 17:16Speaker 1: been great an album or two ago it's like damn
- 17:18Speaker 1: that would have been but it's like.
- 17:19Speaker 3: You yeah i mean you can't blame you know you
- 17:21Speaker 3: can't blame them you know what i mean you can't
- 17:23Speaker 3: expect them to know what's in your head what you're
- 17:25Speaker 3: going to do next.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Yeah and they only have like the footprints that they've
- 17:28Speaker 1: seen you leave it so far make that they can
- 17:30Speaker 1: even judge on.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Right like i've heard wasted on you i've heard that 2.0
- 17:34Speaker 3: 18 000 times you know in you know in my
- 17:38Speaker 3: inbox um a lot of them don't even make it
- 17:41Speaker 3: to me because it gets snipped before it even gets
- 17:43Speaker 3: to me but I've heard plenty of them, you know?
- 17:46Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 17:47Speaker 3: I understand it, but, you know, you can't settle like that.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:52Speaker 3: But you also don't want to go too far either,
- 17:55Speaker 3: because then your fans are like, dude, you know, what's
- 17:57Speaker 3: he doing?
- 17:58Speaker 1: What's his name, Chris Gaines?
- 17:59Speaker 3: Is he just taking a lot of mushrooms or something?
- 18:01Speaker 3: You know, like, you can get that guy, too.
- 18:03Speaker 1: This man, at one time, he said, he goes, one
- 18:05Speaker 1: thing you have to evolve with your audience, if you
- 18:08Speaker 1: try to hide that you're evolving or that you're growing—
- 18:11Speaker 1: Because your audience also grows, right?
- 18:12Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 1: So he's like, if you try, it can be a
- 18:15Speaker 1: trap sometimes to try to just fit your current feet
- 18:19Speaker 1: back in your old footprints. And I just thought it
- 18:21Speaker 1: was interesting to hear somebody say that. I'd never really
- 18:23Speaker 1: thought about, because sometimes you're like, oh, this worked and
- 18:25Speaker 1: I got to stay right here. But you're not there anymore,
- 18:28Speaker 1: you know?
- 18:29Speaker 3: Yeah. And I mean, even if it's just subtle changes,
- 18:32Speaker 3: it don't have to be like. huge things you.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Know yeah you don't have to come out and do
- 18:36Speaker 1: like a Mozart style.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Right right you know like my last album I had
- 18:39Speaker 3: plenty of trap beats and stuff like that this time
- 18:42Speaker 3: I was like hey man let's just let's tone that
- 18:44Speaker 3: back a little bit I'm tired I'm tired of it
- 18:45Speaker 3: I'm tired of hearing it so if I'm tired of
- 18:47Speaker 3: it they're probably tired of hearing it yeah you know
- 18:49Speaker 3: so just like certain things that you can still get
- 18:51Speaker 3: that same swag or that same you can accomplish certain
- 18:54Speaker 3: things without doing the same exact thing yeah so it's
- 18:57Speaker 3: just simple stuff like that in in some cases.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Do you feel like you've always had a pretty good, like,
- 19:02Speaker 1: instinct about that kind of stuff? Like, is that something
- 19:04Speaker 1: you think you really have? Like, you kind of can feel?
- 19:07Speaker 3: I like to think so, man. I feel like I
- 19:09Speaker 3: can tell when something's getting tired, you know?
- 19:13Speaker 1: Yeah. That's a gift, man.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess so. Maybe God gave me that. I
- 19:18Speaker 3: don't know. I've also learned from people in my, you know,
- 19:22Speaker 3: that I've been around for the last 10 years who
- 19:24Speaker 3: I feel like I've learned from and that have helped
- 19:26Speaker 3: me with that as well. You know, I don't think
- 19:28Speaker 3: I was just Fully just, I think I had a
- 19:30Speaker 3: knack for it already, but I think I've, you know,
- 19:32Speaker 3: developed it and learned from people as well, so. Yeah. Yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I've always had a tough time, like, because I've always
- 19:39Speaker 1: been like a do-it-yourself kind of guy. Like, I feel
- 19:40Speaker 1: like I know what I'm doing. Like, I work hard.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But then recently I've had to, like, realize I need
- 19:46Speaker 1: help more. It's like, I can't always give this guy.
- 19:50Speaker 1: a hard time i need i need to see you
- 19:51Speaker 1: know i'm saying like i can't always butt up against
- 19:53Speaker 1: every wall you know because i'll just do that it's
- 19:55Speaker 1: just my nature because i don't want help a lot
- 19:57Speaker 1: of times yeah yeah man that shit has been.
- 19:59Speaker 3: That's a big that's a big deal.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Yeah it's been getting better though recently yeah even just
- 20:03Speaker 1: like just little things i just started noticing it's getting
- 20:06Speaker 1: a little bit better and it's And the irony is
- 20:09Speaker 1: everything's been easier. Yeah. The more I let help come in.
- 20:12Speaker 3: I think there's certain areas in my life, like with music,
- 20:15Speaker 3: I've always kind of, I've been a good teammate. I
- 20:19Speaker 3: don't know why that is. Maybe I've just always liked
- 20:25Speaker 3: the aspect of feeling like you're on a team, I
- 20:27Speaker 3: guess because I played sports and stuff so much growing up.
- 20:29Speaker 3: For me, I enjoy the camaraderie of making music with
- 20:32Speaker 3: my buddies and doing all that stuff. So I've always
- 20:34Speaker 3: kind of, enjoyed the, the, the help and the team
- 20:38Speaker 3: aspect of that. But there's other areas in my life
- 20:40Speaker 3: where I, I'm like you, where I'm like, I don't,
- 20:43Speaker 3: you know, whatever. No, no, I'm good. Yeah.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 20:45Speaker 3: So it's not, it doesn't necessarily permeate throughout my entire life.
- 20:49Speaker 3: It's just that one thing where I, I've been able to,
- 20:52Speaker 3: to do that. Yeah.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Oh dude, I'll be sitting in a damn bottom of
- 20:56Speaker 1: a hole. There'll be a thousand people out there with
- 20:58Speaker 1: rope and I'll be like, I'm good.
- 21:00Speaker 3: I'll find one. There's one down here. There's one down
- 21:04Speaker 3: here somewhere.
- 21:05Speaker 1: And they'll be up there, and they're like, this dude's
- 21:08Speaker 1: an idiot. Yeah. Yeah, you're damn right I am.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm proud of it, too.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm proud of it. That's the best part. Is
- 21:18Speaker 1: it tough in your life? I mean, dude, your music,
- 21:20Speaker 1: it's like, it's just been such a wave that, like,
- 21:23Speaker 1: I mean, you couldn't travel around town without seeing every
- 21:27Speaker 1: guy at a stoplight look like, you know, look like
- 21:30Speaker 1: a Morgan Wallen, look like a. like, hear your music everywhere,
- 21:34Speaker 1: every store, like, are there moments for you where it's like, God,
- 21:37Speaker 1: this guy's got it. Like, it's like, where it almost,
- 21:40Speaker 1: where you become too much for you. Like, is that ever,
- 21:43Speaker 1: does that make any sense?
- 21:44Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it does. It's still, it's still weird. And
- 21:48Speaker 3: there's parts of that that I don't like. I mean,
- 21:50Speaker 3: I think anybody who has to deal with that, it's
- 21:52Speaker 3: not ideal. You know, it's not ideal to go everywhere.
- 21:55Speaker 3: And even if you don't get, get like, you know, bothered,
- 21:59Speaker 3: you were on edge the whole time because you thought
- 22:00Speaker 3: you might. It's like, There's just not a lot of–
- 22:04Speaker 3: there's things that you just don't do. Yeah. You just
- 22:08Speaker 3: don't do them anymore.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:09Speaker 3: You know? But that's okay. That's why I've taken up
- 22:12Speaker 3: hunting so much, I think, you know, because I can
- 22:13Speaker 3: go be with my buddies. I'm in the middle of nowhere.
- 22:16Speaker 3: I can be at ease. I can not stress out.
- 22:21Speaker 3: You just find ways to supplement it, I think, you know?
- 22:24Speaker 1: Yeah. It's kind of funny that you can't really go
- 22:26Speaker 1: to a bar anymore because there'd be too much hassle.
- 22:29Speaker 1: And it's probably the best thing for you.
- 22:31Speaker 3: It's definitely the best thing for me. I mean, if
- 22:36Speaker 3: you're using a bar as a specific example, that's definitely
- 22:40Speaker 3: the best thing for me. I ain't been in a
- 22:42Speaker 3: bar since– since the last time I was in a bar, um,
- 22:48Speaker 3: that everybody knows about.
- 22:50Speaker 1: How is that? That feels like a bar right there.
- 22:51Speaker 1: It does.
- 22:53Speaker 3: It sounds like an old country song for sure. Um,
- 22:58Speaker 3: but yeah, that's, that's, that's the most public time I
- 23:01Speaker 3: was in a bar. That's the last time I was
- 23:03Speaker 3: in a bar.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Dude, have you seen those, uh, there's an AI bar
- 23:07Speaker 1: thing that makes, uh, country songs. There's one about a bar.
- 23:11Speaker 1: You gotta see if you can pull it up.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Um, Trevin. Is it good?
- 23:16Speaker 1: Dude, it's pretty funny. Let me see. This shit kind
- 23:21Speaker 1: of surprised me. Oh, it's the right one. Kitchen. And
- 23:25Speaker 1: the second one right there with the guy and the
- 23:26Speaker 1: lady in the truck. Yeah. Turn that up for a second.
- 23:29Speaker 1: It's just ridiculous.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Look, change it to whiskey and have Morgan Wallen sing it.
- 23:35Speaker 3: That's one of the number one comments.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Hey, start it back over and just turn it up
- 23:41Speaker 1: a little bit. We can't hear it, but this is
- 23:43Speaker 1: just like AI made this.
- 23:44Speaker 3: I woke up in the morning to crack myself a beer.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Then went down to the kitchen to grab myself a beer.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Made myself some breakfast, another beer, of course. That's when my.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Baby said to me....
- 24:10Speaker 3: So I can start thinking clear.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Oh, it's a perfect day for beer. That's good, man.
- 24:17Speaker 1: But it's just crazy that A.I. wrote this. Like, it's
- 24:18Speaker 1: just somebody just put it in. Dude, A.I.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Is nuts, man.
- 24:21Speaker 1: It's just making beer.
- 24:22Speaker 3: I was talking to my mom about A.I. this morning.
- 24:24Speaker 3: But that is, I mean, you know, could be.
- 24:30Speaker 1: A hit. Hey, Michael, we're sitting here listening to it. Yeah.

- 27:56Speaker 1: what I'm talking about.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Bad words.
- 28:01Speaker 1: What are you listening to right now, man? I know
- 28:05Speaker 1: everybody asks that.
- 28:06Speaker 3: That's a good question. I've been trying to find new
- 28:08Speaker 3: stuff to listen to. I don't find a whole lot
- 28:10Speaker 3: of new stuff to listen to. I've been listening to
- 28:11Speaker 3: like old, I'm mostly only listening to music if I'm
- 28:14Speaker 3: driving or if I'm working out. That's about the only
- 28:16Speaker 3: time I listen to music, which I do those things
- 28:18Speaker 3: a decent amount, you know.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Kind of same, man. That's kind of when I do it. Yeah. Um,
- 28:24Speaker 1: Stephen Wilson I've been listening to.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Yeah, he's good. He's really good.
- 28:27Speaker 1: He's a great lyricist.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. He's a special talent.
- 28:30Speaker 1: That song about my father's son, Hardy played that one
- 28:33Speaker 1: with him.
- 28:33Speaker 3: God, that's good. Yeah, that guy is really, really good.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Zach Topp's voice is really amazing.
- 28:38Speaker 3: I don't listen to country music a whole lot. I
- 28:41Speaker 3: think I've always kind of been that way. I know
- 28:43Speaker 3: who Zach Topp is, and I do agree. He's very solid.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Jesse Murph, Big X The Plug, you've heard that song? Uh-uh. No.
- 28:51Speaker 1: They have a collab that's pretty dope.
- 28:52Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's good.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Me and Big X, we almost did a song, but
- 28:58Speaker 3: I don't know. I actually sent him a song, and
- 29:00Speaker 3: he didn't finish it, so I don't know. That's on him.
- 29:05Speaker 3: I guess I don't know what he was doing.
- 29:06Speaker 1: He was in jail.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Did he?
- 29:09Speaker 1: I think so, yeah.
- 29:09Speaker 3: For what? Not a long time. Not long enough. I
- 29:11Speaker 3: went to jail, too, man.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Hey, if you're behind bars, write a couple.
- 29:19Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 29:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:23Speaker 3: No, it was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing, though. I
- 29:25Speaker 3: got a song on my record called Miami.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I haven't heard that one yet. They sent me a
- 29:29Speaker 1: couple of the songs.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Did they? Yeah, it's cool, man. It's a Keith Whitley flip,
- 29:34Speaker 3: so it's like an old Miami, Miami, that song. Have
- 29:36Speaker 3: you ever heard that? Miami, Miami. what took you so long?
- 29:42Speaker 3: Why don't you never call?
- 29:45Speaker 1: Oh, no, I've never seen it. People talk about Keith Whitley.
- 29:48Speaker 3: That's one of his bigger type songs, I guess. But
- 29:50Speaker 3: we flipped it and turned it into more of like a,
- 29:53Speaker 3: it's a little more like rap style. But it's cool, man.
- 29:57Speaker 3: I like it. It's cool. It seemed like it could
- 30:00Speaker 3: use a rapper on there. I didn't end up using
- 30:03Speaker 3: a feature. We ended up just making a second verse.
- 30:05Speaker 3: But it's one of those songs where it wouldn't be
- 30:08Speaker 3: surprising if we got like a remix and did that.
- 30:11Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Once it's out and all
- 30:12Speaker 3: that stuff.
- 30:14Speaker 1: You're famous. You guys had these different walkouts that you
- 30:18Speaker 1: did over the years, right? Really fun. And thanks for
- 30:20Speaker 1: letting me be part of the one in Nashville. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Do you have a favorite one that kind of stood
- 30:25Speaker 1: out to you? And no judgment to any of them.
- 30:27Speaker 3: What was it like? Neyland Stadium is, you know, that's
- 30:31Speaker 3: my home. That's where I grew up watching games.
- 30:33Speaker 1: And Peyton put those pads on?
- 30:34Speaker 3: Peyton, that one was really good. The baseball team one
- 30:36Speaker 3: we did was really good, too. But that Peyton one,
- 30:39Speaker 3: that was one of the, you know, it's hard to beat.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Anything that happened those two nights at that stadium, I
- 30:46Speaker 3: find myself just being like, yeah, that's pretty, those are
- 30:49Speaker 3: like the, you know, some of the best memories I've had.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 30:54Speaker 3: So sick.
- 30:57Speaker 1: He's so ridiculous.
- 30:57Speaker 3: He came out looking like he was actually about to
- 30:59Speaker 3: go play with his facial expressions and stuff.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Hey, I think half the boosters wanted to sign. Some boosters,
- 31:06Speaker 1: I think, were trying to holler at him.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Probably. Hey, man, you got another year of eligibility.
- 31:11Speaker 1: We'll find something else. Yeah, man, that was special, dude.
- 31:16Speaker 1: So cool.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Yeah, but the walkouts are, they're just, The energy that
- 31:21Speaker 3: comes from those just could last you... I mean, maybe
- 31:24Speaker 3: not the entire show, but it'll last you a while,
- 31:26Speaker 3: you know? And then once you get out there and
- 31:28Speaker 3: compound the energy that comes along with the actual show,
- 31:31Speaker 3: it's just... It's a rush.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Yeah, there's that coach right there that we
- 31:38Speaker 1: put that water on.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Yeah, Hypel?
- 31:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, he's thugging. He's big thugging right there.
- 31:43Speaker 3: He was, dude.
- 31:46Speaker 1: What else has happened? So... Uh You have your The
- 31:49Speaker 1: first time you're gonna play Your new album will be
- 31:52Speaker 1: At Sand In My Boots Fest?
- 31:54Speaker 3: I'll play some of my album there Okay Um You
- 31:57Speaker 3: know the album comes out On the 16th I'll play
- 31:59Speaker 3: on the 18th I'll probably I'll play some of the
- 32:02Speaker 3: new stuff That's another thing man It's hard to It's
- 32:06Speaker 3: hard picking set lists At this point too Oh You
- 32:09Speaker 3: know That gets real.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Tricky Do you do that yourself? You kind of organize it?
- 32:13Speaker 3: Yeah me and Me and my band do it together
- 32:16Speaker 3: Um You know, a lot of it's data-driven, you know,
- 32:24Speaker 3: because you can see. You know which songs the majority
- 32:27Speaker 3: of people want to hear. Oh, yeah. You're always going
- 32:30Speaker 3: to miss somebody's favorite song. You're probably going to miss
- 32:33Speaker 3: my favorite song, you know, in some sets. Just trying
- 32:37Speaker 3: to figure out a way this year since, you know,
- 32:39Speaker 3: I'm only playing 20 shows. So probably if I can
- 32:44Speaker 3: try to figure out a way to not play the
- 32:46Speaker 3: same set list all the time. You know, because last
- 32:49Speaker 3: year I interchanged a couple, but I think it's going
- 32:52Speaker 3: to be, I'm going to make a bigger effort to
- 32:55Speaker 3: try to make the set list different for at least
- 32:58Speaker 3: each night. You know, maybe not every single show will
- 33:01Speaker 3: be a different set list, but like night one, night two.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Because we're playing two nights in each place. So night,
- 33:07Speaker 3: you know, trying to separate the two nights as far
- 33:10Speaker 3: as music goes should be interesting because we've never done
- 33:12Speaker 3: that before. We would always just do, like, maybe change
- 33:16Speaker 3: one or two songs. You know, I'm thinking maybe a
- 33:17Speaker 3: little more than that. I like that.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Yeah, that way if people wanted to come for both nights, too,
- 33:21Speaker 1: they could and hear different stuff, too.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and a lot of people already do come both nights,
- 33:24Speaker 3: so that would be nice for them, too.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:26Speaker 3: There's really no way to do it perfectly. Somebody's going
- 33:29Speaker 3: to be disappointed or, you know, at any point, oh,
- 33:32Speaker 3: they didn't play this song or they didn't play that song.
- 33:34Speaker 3: But trying our best. I'm not going to play for
- 33:35Speaker 3: four hours either, so, you know.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Yeah. You got to– Keep it within reason. We got
- 33:40Speaker 1: to meet in the middle, guys. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll
- 33:42Speaker 1: do my best.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I don't want to sing for four hours. Two hours,
- 33:47Speaker 3: maybe a little longer than two hours.
- 33:49Speaker 1: You put it on, man. My show, I'll be out
- 33:52Speaker 1: there for maybe about an hour, and 15 minutes is
- 33:54Speaker 1: probably the sweet spot for me to be on stage,
- 33:57Speaker 1: I think, with a comedian where they're just, because we
- 33:59Speaker 1: don't have any backup instruments, so people are like, fuck,
- 34:01Speaker 1: somebody tap in a violin or something with this bastard.
- 34:04Speaker 1: You know, people get a little bit tired of it.
- 34:06Speaker 1: But I can't, and that burns me out, man. I
- 34:08Speaker 1: used to do two shows, and now I only do
- 34:10Speaker 1: one a night. But I can't imagine.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Oh, you used to do two shows in one night? Yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Back to back?
- 34:15Speaker 1: Yeah. When you first started as a.
- 34:17Speaker 3: I think I remember you telling me that.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, like, even whenever I first came to town,
- 34:20Speaker 1: you guys came one night and saw me over at Zany's, man. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:23Speaker 1: That was cool. And you came and did my podcast early, man,
- 34:26Speaker 1: and that helped me... It helped give me some just
- 34:30Speaker 1: support in the community.
- 34:31Speaker 3: I didn't even realize it was early because, to me,
- 34:33Speaker 3: I'd been listening to you for like a little while,
- 34:35Speaker 3: you know, so I already knew you and knew about
- 34:37Speaker 3: you and knew your story and everything. So it wasn't like, hey,
- 34:40Speaker 3: come do this weird new guy's podcast. I already knew
- 34:42Speaker 3: who you were.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Well, it was just support. You know, it was nice
- 34:45Speaker 1: to have some support right when I got into town. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:47Speaker 3: No, I'm glad we got to do it, man. Damn,
- 34:49Speaker 3: that was in 2020.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Was it really?
- 34:52Speaker 3: God.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Dang, bro. Look how happy you were. I think I
- 34:56Speaker 1: got it. I'm joking, dude. We both look happy. That's
- 34:58Speaker 1: the pictures we picked. I look like I'm in pain.
- 35:00Speaker 1: You look like you just came from the dentist.
- 35:02Speaker 3: I look so white.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we had bad lighting then.
- 35:06Speaker 3: Golly.
- 35:07Speaker 1: We bought some better lights.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Looking pasty, boy.
- 35:14Speaker 1: What's up with the free time now? So you go hunting.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Where do you guys like to go?
- 35:17Speaker 3: Well, all over the place, man. I got a farm
- 35:20Speaker 3: outside of town that we've been planting and Oh, I
- 35:25Speaker 3: think I saw some deer out there. Getting all the
- 35:27Speaker 3: agriculture right. I don't think you've been to my farm,
- 35:32Speaker 3: have you?
- 35:32Speaker 1: Oh, no, I've never been to your house.
- 35:33Speaker 3: Yeah, you've just been to my house, I believe. But, yeah,
- 35:35Speaker 3: so we got deer and turkeys down there.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 35:39Speaker 3: So that's pretty much what it's geared towards. It's a
- 35:42Speaker 3: really good— we bought it. It was already a really good
- 35:46Speaker 3: turkey farm. And then we've just been adding a lot
- 35:48Speaker 3: of the agriculture and all that stuff to try to
- 35:51Speaker 3: make it a better deer farm.
- 35:53Speaker 1: What makes a good setup like that? Like what's the
- 35:55Speaker 1: best way to make it set up where it's challenging
- 35:57Speaker 1: to the hunter, but also.
- 35:59Speaker 3: Like, I mean, it's always going to be challenging when
- 36:01Speaker 3: deer hunting, just, you know, because you only get to
- 36:04Speaker 3: kill two, two bucks in a, in a season, in
- 36:07Speaker 3: a state, you know, so you're not, you're not just
- 36:09Speaker 3: going to go out there and shoot everything you see.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Oh, you know.
- 36:12Speaker 3: What I mean? Like you, you may let a really
- 36:14Speaker 3: good deer walk because you're trying to get a better,
- 36:17Speaker 3: you know, that there's a better deer in the area or,
- 36:21Speaker 3: you believe there's a better deer in there, you know,
- 36:22Speaker 3: like we have cameras and stuff now, so we can
- 36:24Speaker 3: kind of take inventory on stuff. But you're not, you don't,
- 36:29Speaker 3: I think people, I don't know what people think about hunting,
- 36:31Speaker 3: but like, you don't just go out there and just
- 36:33Speaker 3: massacre animals, you know what I mean?
- 36:34Speaker 1: Right, you're not out there with a handgun or nothing.
- 36:36Speaker 3: No, but I mean, it's, it's interesting. I mean, the
- 36:40Speaker 3: main thing is food, you know, food and bedding. that's
- 36:43Speaker 3: that's really all that's what those are the two main
- 36:45Speaker 3: things that you need to have a good hunting farm
- 36:48Speaker 3: okay as long as you got there the the type
- 36:50Speaker 3: of bedding that they want and preferably the type of
- 36:53Speaker 3: food that they want then you're going to keep those
- 36:55Speaker 3: deer on your farm because they ain't gonna they don't
- 36:57Speaker 3: need to leave to go find either one of those
- 36:59Speaker 3: right they're happy so they'll stay in their home range
- 37:01Speaker 3: and they'll stay there and you can grow them you
- 37:03Speaker 3: know like we don't want to you at least try
- 37:05Speaker 3: to get them to be five years old um and
- 37:08Speaker 3: that's that's minimum that what we want to do um
- 37:11Speaker 3: You know, depending on where you're at in the country,
- 37:13Speaker 3: people will let them get older. It's a little different,
- 37:16Speaker 3: I think, depending on your land, because, you know, like
- 37:20Speaker 3: if you spend all this time and money and then
- 37:22Speaker 3: you got your neighbor who, if your deer walks across
- 37:25Speaker 3: to their property line, they might shoot it before you
- 37:28Speaker 3: were planning on shooting it. So, you know, it can
- 37:31Speaker 3: be a little bit of a game.
- 37:34Speaker 1: So there can be property line beef like that.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. There's all kinds of that going on. Yeah,
- 37:39Speaker 3: there's a lot of hunting property like beef.
- 37:41Speaker 1: And what about reindeer? Do you ever see reindeer out
- 37:43Speaker 1: there or not?
- 37:45Speaker 3: I personally came across one. My son did just get
- 37:48Speaker 3: a reindeer call and one of my buddies from Alabama
- 37:53Speaker 3: made him a reindeer call.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Oh, wait, for Christmas?
- 37:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Oh, that's hilarious.
- 37:56Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Bro, you got to use that. That's pretty cool. Imagine that, dude.
- 38:01Speaker 1: You're a kid and you think it was a nice
- 38:03Speaker 1: reindeer call you're bringing in Santa, dude.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Yeah, he thinks that's what he's doing. I mean, That
- 38:08Speaker 3: would be– I don't even think he's actually tried it.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Like he– I guess that was probably last Christmas. So
- 38:16Speaker 3: he's just– he's came– he's just got a lot of
- 38:18Speaker 3: new interest and stuff this year. So I think I
- 38:21Speaker 3: was– I came home this past weekend and I was
- 38:23Speaker 3: working on my turkey call just in my mouth, you know,
- 38:25Speaker 3: and he was trying to like mimic me and stuff.
- 38:28Speaker 3: It was hilarious. He's just screaming basically.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Is it fun to watch him kind of grow?
- 38:36Speaker 1: Has it been interesting? Is there moments where you see
- 38:38Speaker 1: him learn something and you almost see him learn it?
- 38:40Speaker 1: Does that kind of happen?
- 38:41Speaker 3: Yeah, it's cool. I've been working on him on how
- 38:44Speaker 3: to catch and stuff. I've just been using a soft basketball.
- 38:50Speaker 3: I've got one of those basketball goals you hang up
- 38:52Speaker 3: on the door. Oh, yeah, there's just so much fun
- 38:54Speaker 3: when you're a kid. I use it more than him still.
- 38:56Speaker 1: You're just making him rebound for you.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Every time I'm on the phone, I'll just put my
- 39:01Speaker 3: headphones in and just start shooting for like 30 minutes.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Since it's been cold, especially.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:10Speaker 3: But, yeah, just, you know, when we first started, he
- 39:13Speaker 3: couldn't do it. And then, you know, a couple weeks later, he's, like, catching. And,
- 39:17Speaker 3: you know, he can catch a bounce pass now. You know,
- 39:19Speaker 3: it's just like seeing those things progress in such a
- 39:22Speaker 3: short period of time is cool.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Does it make you have a different appreciation for your
- 39:26Speaker 1: own dad? Or has it adjusted y'all's relationship any.
- 39:27Speaker 3: You think?
- 39:28Speaker 1: Is that a weird question to ask?
- 39:29Speaker 3: No, it's not a weird question. I think, yeah, I
- 39:33Speaker 3: think it probably does. I mean, me and my dad,
- 39:36Speaker 3: we butted heads a lot growing up, especially once I
- 39:39Speaker 3: got to high school just because I was kind of ridiculous.
- 39:43Speaker 3: And I think he was kind of ridiculous when he
- 39:46Speaker 3: was that age too, so he was just trying to. hey,
- 39:49Speaker 3: don't be like me when I was that age. You know,
- 39:51Speaker 3: like I know what this turns, I know how this
- 39:53Speaker 3: ends usually. So we just butted heads. I didn't, you know,
- 39:56Speaker 3: you don't believe anything your parents say.
- 39:58Speaker 1: When you're that age. No, it's the last person you
- 39:59Speaker 1: want to believe. It's so crazy.
- 40:00Speaker 3: It's not even possible. It wasn't possible in my head
- 40:02Speaker 3: to believe that. That's crazy to think now. I'm like, damn,
- 40:05Speaker 3: they were right. But in my head, it was not
- 40:07Speaker 3: physically possible to think that they could be right.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:10Speaker 3: It just wasn't.
- 40:11Speaker 1: It's kind of crazy because, like, oh, these two people
- 40:13Speaker 1: that love me and care about me and raised me
- 40:15Speaker 1: this far. They're trying to ruin my life. They're trying
- 40:17Speaker 1: to ruin my life.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what you think. It's wild. It's insane, really.
- 40:22Speaker 3: But that's what I thought. But, yeah, I mean, after,
- 40:26Speaker 3: you know, I moved out. And really once I think
- 40:29Speaker 3: I got moved down here to Nashville, that's when we
- 40:32Speaker 3: became closer.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Closer than ever because I moved here pretty young. You know,
- 40:36Speaker 3: I was 22 when I moved here.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. and almost been here 10 years coming up.
- 40:41Speaker 3: So it's I think just having that space and then
- 40:43Speaker 3: just being able to you should get older too you know.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Oh that's the biggest thing you're like oh shit none
- 40:49Speaker 1: of that other shit even matter.
- 40:49Speaker 3: What I'm doing like yeah maybe you could have went
- 40:52Speaker 3: about it a little different or whatever you know but
- 40:53Speaker 3: like the intentions were right.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Yeah I mean I just got spending time with my
- 40:57Speaker 1: mom is like a lot of my life it's like
- 40:59Speaker 1: I'm waiting for my mom to like show me certain
- 41:01Speaker 1: attention or affection or something. The other night we're just
- 41:03Speaker 1: sitting there, we're watching at the Opry and she went
- 41:06Speaker 1: there like 40 years ago or something, you know? And, um,
- 41:10Speaker 1: and I'm like, it's kind of stupid, but I just
- 41:13Speaker 1: reached over and grabbed my mom's hand, you know? Cause
- 41:14Speaker 1: it's like, it's not about me being a kid anymore.
- 41:17Speaker 1: It's just about me being, she's an older woman now.
- 41:20Speaker 1: So it's like, let me just be an adult and
- 41:22Speaker 1: almost act like I'm the parent, you know, I'm not
- 41:24Speaker 1: the parent now, but let me, I don't know, it's
- 41:26Speaker 1: an old part of me, like a child part of me,
- 41:28Speaker 1: of like, oh man, it's my brother, I wish my
- 41:29Speaker 1: mom would, you know, pat me on the back, just
- 41:31Speaker 1: do something, you know, show me a little bit of
- 41:32Speaker 1: love or something. But then I just grabbed her hand
- 41:34Speaker 1: and then we just watched it together and it was
- 41:36Speaker 1: like me kind of, I don't know, it was a
- 41:37Speaker 1: little moment for me where I was like, I'm not
- 41:39Speaker 1: gonna be that old grudge, I'm just gonna move forward,
- 41:44Speaker 1: you know?
- 41:44Speaker 3: That's cool, yeah.
- 41:45Speaker 1: But it was just interesting. Or just to get my
- 41:47Speaker 1: mom a hug while we're sitting there, you know, just like.
- 41:50Speaker 3: You know, me and my mom, my mom always we
- 41:52Speaker 3: always had like a super, super good relationship. She was
- 41:54Speaker 3: always loving and stuff, you know. So I just I
- 41:56Speaker 3: felt all that from my mom. But me and my dad,
- 41:59Speaker 3: you know, like I said, we butted heads. So it
- 42:01Speaker 3: was more of just getting past that phase in my life.
- 42:03Speaker 3: But I didn't once it was once that phase was over,
- 42:08Speaker 3: it was over.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Right.
- 42:09Speaker 3: To me. Yeah. I don't I don't have any sort of.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Hard feelings towards it? Oh, yeah.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Dude, your dad is so funny, dude. Right when I
- 42:15Speaker 1: see him, my face just fucking smiles. I know.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Me too.
- 42:19Speaker 1: He's just energetic.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Chipper. You said he was chipper. That's the right word
- 42:22Speaker 3: for him.
- 42:22Speaker 1: And he's been fasting for like 700 days, dude.
- 42:24Speaker 3: At this point, I don't know. He ain't fasting. He
- 42:28Speaker 3: ain't fasting right now. I've been seeing this man eat
- 42:30Speaker 3: during this trip he's been down here. He ain't fasting.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Don't let him lie to you. Because I've been basically,
- 42:36Speaker 3: I've been, you know, eating clean and stuff, trying to
- 42:38Speaker 3: get ready for tour and all that. And there you go.
- 42:41Speaker 3: you know, bribing me with all these hamburgers and stuff.
- 42:44Speaker 3: I'm like, man, go cook at somewhere.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Else. What about motorcycling? You got a motorcycle. I remember
- 42:52Speaker 1: last time you were talking about it. Did you get one?
- 42:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I got it.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Oh, you have a Harley hat on today.
- 42:56Speaker 3: I do, yeah.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Gang, gang, that's nice, dude.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Let's go, baby. I got this awesome, like, vintage thing.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it's tough, dude.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Yeah, man, I enjoy it.
- 43:06Speaker 1: You do?
- 43:06Speaker 3: Yeah, which I kind of had ridden dirt bikes and
- 43:09Speaker 3: stuff a little bit, you know, enough to understanding my
- 43:12Speaker 3: way around a bike already. Right. So me and Cody
- 43:18Speaker 3: and TD and a few other of us, a few others,
- 43:22Speaker 3: we all got bikes. Look at that shit.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I'll buy the cologne, whatever they're selling right there.
- 43:26Speaker 3: It does look like that.
- 43:27Speaker 1: It really does, huh? Exhaust by Morgan Wallen.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Exhaust. Smells like a fart.
- 43:35Speaker 1: That wouldn't be a bad cologne though, dude.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Smells like Morgan Wallen's farts, man.
- 43:42Speaker 1: What if you had a blow to start that thing?
- 43:43Speaker 1: What if you had one of those breath things on it?
- 43:48Speaker 3: I'm surprised I don't. Has anybody ever had a motorbike
- 43:52Speaker 3: that has that on it? I'm sure they have. I'm
- 43:55Speaker 3: surprised I don't have that on every vehicle I've got.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Shout out to Davidson County. Sorry, man.
- 44:04Speaker 1: That's hilarious. No, that's a handsome picture, man. That looks nice.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Thanks, man. But you get out there. I like it
- 44:08Speaker 3: because it's like, You got your helmet on. Nobody knows
- 44:12Speaker 3: who you are. Nobody knows who you are. You get
- 44:13Speaker 3: out there. You got to focus on it too. You
- 44:16Speaker 3: ain't on your phone. You ain't doing anything else. You're
- 44:19Speaker 3: just thinking about what you got to do on that bike.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:22Speaker 3: So I enjoy that aspect of it a lot. At
- 44:26Speaker 3: least me, I physically can't do anything else other than
- 44:28Speaker 3: think about what's going on on this bike.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Be locked in.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Yeah. So I like that aspect of it a lot.
- 44:33Speaker 3: You'll be riding and then all of a sudden it's
- 44:35Speaker 3: five hours have gone by and you just don't realize
- 44:37Speaker 3: that that happened.
- 44:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Damn, I gotta get out there sometime. I'm just so bad.
- 44:42Speaker 1: I'm bad at being in motion.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Well, that might not be for you then.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm better. I'm better.
- 44:48Speaker 3: What do you mean? Wait, what do you mean? Keep going.
- 44:51Speaker 1: I'm bad at just like being in motion and having
- 44:53Speaker 1: to think at the same time. I'm more of a
- 44:55Speaker 1: stop and think. Well, Then move.
- 44:58Speaker 3: What are we thinking about, though?
- 45:00Speaker 1: Just anything, whatever the next thing has to be. It's
- 45:02Speaker 1: just hard for me. Like, I get, I just, I
- 45:04Speaker 1: think I just.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Well, you can just be in the back of the line, then. Yeah, yeah.
- 45:07Speaker 1: I'll be in the back.
- 45:07Speaker 3: You can just follow us.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I would be a good, yeah, I
- 45:10Speaker 1: don't want to be at the front.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Okay.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:12Speaker 3: Or the middle. The middle's probably the safest anyway. You
- 45:14Speaker 3: can be in the middle. Because you're protected in the back.
- 45:17Speaker 3: You're protected in the front. You don't have to make
- 45:19Speaker 3: any decisions. You just follow the decisions.
- 45:21Speaker 1: That's where I need to be, then.
- 45:24Speaker 3: You should go take Harry's motorcycle class. That's who we
- 45:28Speaker 3: took our class from.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Really?
- 45:29Speaker 3: Is it good?
- 45:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:30Speaker 3: I mean, I learned things I didn't know. It wasn't
- 45:34Speaker 3: easy necessarily either. There was things that were challenging.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Do you all go in a pack when you go
- 45:39Speaker 1: out there?
- 45:40Speaker 3: I've ridden a couple times by myself, but I would
- 45:42Speaker 3: have somebody follow me, like my security or just anyone.
- 45:46Speaker 3: But we mostly just ride at least in groups of two.
- 45:50Speaker 3: A lot of times groups of four.
- 45:52Speaker 1: That's tough, man. Maybe I'll have to get out there.
- 45:54Speaker 1: I got to pray about that.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't want to. Don't let me. I'm not
- 45:57Speaker 3: influencing you at all.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Okay, thank you. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I don't
- 46:01Speaker 1: want to be out there. I'm the problem.
- 46:03Speaker 3: You can just get in the sidecar. Me and you, right?
- 46:08Speaker 1: Get a little German sidecar. Yeah, dude, your cousin Andrew
- 46:13Speaker 1: and I are friends, man. Yeah. He's a class.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Dude, he is.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Okay. Your family is funny, dude.
- 46:19Speaker 3: We've got a lot of characters in our family.
- 46:21Speaker 1: That's what you have, dude. Even when I remember when
- 46:23Speaker 1: you first told me I met you about your Uncle
- 46:24Speaker 1: David or something. Uncle David. And then just different people
- 46:28Speaker 1: you would tell me and then getting to meet your dad.
- 46:30Speaker 1: And then, yeah, Andrew and I have become friends over
- 46:32Speaker 1: the years. He's hilarious, dude.
- 46:34Speaker 3: Yeah, he definitely is hilarious.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Went fishing with him. He– dude, that dude will– he'll
- 46:39Speaker 1: put a damn– he'll start fishing anywhere you guys buy
- 46:42Speaker 1: a chase bank and he'll feel cast over there put
- 46:44Speaker 1: what are you trying to catch man frog top on
- 46:46Speaker 1: there just because there's a bank he'll catch a damn
- 46:52Speaker 1: he'll catch a safe deposit box over there 12 pounds
- 46:55Speaker 1: brother oh god but he dude he's just good he
- 46:58Speaker 1: took us out to some property him and ben weprin
- 47:01Speaker 1: i think is the guy's name yeah ben yeah and
- 47:03Speaker 1: um And we had a blast, man. But he's good.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Where'd y'all go? To Holumaw?
- 47:08Speaker 1: No, we went to... Oh, you went to Ease.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:12Speaker 1: We went to Ease, and it was cool, though. I
- 47:13Speaker 1: hadn't been there. God, that's beautiful.
- 47:15Speaker 3: That place is immaculate. God.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that was good, man.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Got some big fish in there. It's a beautiful spot, man.
- 47:22Speaker 1: But does he hunt with you?
- 47:23Speaker 3: Does he hunt?
- 47:24Speaker 1: Does Andrew hunt with you?
- 47:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, some. He does, yeah. I like hunting
- 47:27Speaker 3: with him. You know, he works for Field and Stream,
- 47:29Speaker 3: so he travels a lot doing that job, which I
- 47:32Speaker 3: think is a really good job for him.
- 47:34Speaker 1: He loves it, man. Yeah, he's talented, but he's hilarious, dude.
- 47:38Speaker 3: We all keep telling him he should have his own
- 47:40Speaker 3: YouTube channel or something.
- 47:41Speaker 1: Really should, man.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Just a series of some sort. And this is the
- 47:43Speaker 3: things that happen to that guy. I'm like, dude, I
- 47:48Speaker 3: don't know how this has occurred to you, but the
- 47:52Speaker 3: world deserves to hear this.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's okay, brother.
- 47:55Speaker 3: The world deserves to share in your pain that you're
- 47:57Speaker 3: dealing with right now. Because the things that happen to
- 48:01Speaker 3: him are just unbelievable, man.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Bro he's just such a good story yeah he's bro
- 48:07Speaker 1: he has been getting to know him has been a
- 48:09Speaker 1: gift man.
- 48:10Speaker 3: Yeah he he is a true he's a treasure man
- 48:15Speaker 3: he's a national treasure he's a buried treasure i mean
- 48:17Speaker 3: i really he is buried right now we keep i
- 48:22Speaker 3: mean no he's maybe he'll take this and he'll watch
- 48:24Speaker 3: this clip and Go start his channel, you know?
- 48:27Speaker 1: He's entertaining. Yeah, man, he's just entertaining. He's E to
- 48:29Speaker 1: Z to be around. And yeah, that field and stream
- 48:30Speaker 1: job with him is perfect.
- 48:31Speaker 3: And he could do both. He could have that job
- 48:33Speaker 3: and do, you know, that could almost be part of it.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Or find a way to put them together.
- 48:36Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. It could be a part of
- 48:37Speaker 3: the same thing.
- 48:38Speaker 1: You couldn't find a guy that's more perfect for that.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Has there been something nice that you kind of got
- 48:42Speaker 1: yourself as a gift that you started, you know, feeling
- 48:45Speaker 1: like you were doing pretty well? I mean. A trip
- 48:51Speaker 1: you took or anything?
- 48:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I used to be. probably a little
- 48:56Speaker 3: more frugal than i am right now.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Um yeah same i don't like i don't like going
- 49:03Speaker 1: to get stuck i don't like shopping for stuff.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Yeah um i'm trying to think if there's anything that
- 49:09Speaker 3: i was just really splurged out on you know i
- 49:12Speaker 3: got a couple of watches and just things like that, but,
- 49:15Speaker 3: and then I got a couple of nice cars. I mean,
- 49:20Speaker 3: I don't, I don't feel like I'm over the top
- 49:22Speaker 3: big spender guy.
- 49:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:23Speaker 3: You know, and a lot of times.
- 49:25Speaker 1: What, uh, what was your first car? Do you remember it? Yeah.
- 49:28Speaker 3: It was a Jeep Cherokee.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Was it really, dude? I got a fricking Jeep Cherokee, dude.
- 49:32Speaker 3: You do right now?
- 49:33Speaker 1: Yeah. And Los Angeles have a car there. It's got
- 49:35Speaker 1: like only 12,000 miles on it.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Oh, this thing had a lot more than 12,000 miles
- 49:38Speaker 3: on it.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Um, It was a white Jeep Grand Cherokee. I think
- 49:42Speaker 3: it was a 95, if I'm remembering correctly.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Dude, I like those cars.
- 49:46Speaker 3: It was not a bad car. I mean, it wasn't,
- 49:49Speaker 3: whoever had it, it wasn't the most, it was like
- 49:51Speaker 3: that right there. That's exactly what it looked like.
- 49:53Speaker 1: God, those bitches were tough, dude. That's exactly what it
- 49:55Speaker 1: looked like. Yeah, I had them Ford Escort, 84 Ford Escort.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Pull that bitch up, dude. If they'll even allow you.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Sometimes Google won't let you look at them anymore. Them
- 50:04Speaker 1: bitches are visually outlawed. I should walk here. Bro, that
- 50:10Speaker 1: shit will remodel your eyeline when you look at that bitch, dude.
- 50:14Speaker 1: God damn, that bitch looks horrible. I haven't looked at
- 50:16Speaker 1: it in a few years.
- 50:18Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, that's pretty bad. Especially that one on
- 50:26Speaker 3: the right, that blue one. God, that one pulled up.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And barely pulled up. That bitch pulled
- 50:33Speaker 1: up slow, dude.
- 50:36Speaker 3: It's got a two-cylinder in it.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Bro, it had a fucking outboard motor engine in it.
- 50:44Speaker 3: You had to steer it like with the reverse way.
- 50:47Speaker 3: Like you have to do a John boat.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it had a boat motor in it too.
- 50:52Speaker 3: Steered it from the back.
- 50:54Speaker 1: And dude, somebody stole my passenger seat in that bitch.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Really? Yeah, so if you had- Was it only a
- 51:01Speaker 3: two-seater anyway?
- 51:02Speaker 1: No, it had three extra little seats in the back. Oh, okay, okay.
- 51:05Speaker 1: But they weren't even a bench. It was three individual
- 51:07Speaker 1: little bitty seats. Okay.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Three booster seats right there?
- 51:13Speaker 1: You either had to have three kids that were triplets,
- 51:16Speaker 1: I guess, or a couple small buddies. But somebody had
- 51:19Speaker 1: stole my damn passenger seat, dude.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Did you ever get it back? Uh-uh.
- 51:23Speaker 1: Some of them were eating at a Burger King, and
- 51:24Speaker 1: somebody stole that bitch out of there. But then people
- 51:29Speaker 1: had to get in. They'd get in the car, but
- 51:30Speaker 1: they couldn't sit right there.
- 51:35Speaker 3: Did you put a couple blankets down or something, or what?
- 51:37Speaker 1: I don't know. Whatever, dude. The one time I picked
- 51:41Speaker 1: up a dude, I was getting him to buy me
- 51:42Speaker 1: alcohol at a gas station. I was skipping school. And
- 51:45Speaker 1: he got in, this kind of homeless-y kind of guy.
- 51:48Speaker 1: And he got in, and instead of sitting in the back,
- 51:50Speaker 1: he just got on his knees right there at the
- 51:51Speaker 1: passenger side. So I'm driving, and he just... He was
- 51:56Speaker 1: your friend? I didn't know him, no. He's like a
- 51:58Speaker 1: guy who I gave him money to buy me alcohol.
- 51:59Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 52:01Speaker 1: But anyway, I don't know why I'm telling you all this.
- 52:05Speaker 1: I just cleaned out my car. Actually, I did not.
- 52:08Speaker 1: That's not true. I'm going to clean it out, though.

- 55:26Speaker 1: album coming out. Does it feel, is there a moment
- 55:29Speaker 1: where you feel that the album is finished? Is there
- 55:31Speaker 1: a moment where you're like, I just can't, this is
- 55:33Speaker 1: far enough? Could you keep going on an album? Could
- 55:36Speaker 1: you keep fine tuning it forever?
- 55:38Speaker 3: Yes, for sure, yeah.
- 55:39Speaker 1: So that's a real possibility. You can overdo it?
- 55:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. The powers that be will give you
- 55:46Speaker 3: a deadline if you want certain things to happen. You know, like,
- 55:51Speaker 3: do you want your vinyl to come, to be out,
- 55:53Speaker 3: to be ready by when the record's ready you know
- 55:57Speaker 3: things like that so you kind of they put a
- 56:00Speaker 3: you know they give you a buffer because they know
- 56:01Speaker 3: you're not going to have it in time they got
- 56:05Speaker 3: a buffer for the buffer they got they got like
- 56:08Speaker 3: a eight week buffer I think that they put on
- 56:10Speaker 3: me but those time those time limits are are healthy
- 56:15Speaker 3: I think you know because especially I mean it's not
- 56:17Speaker 3: like we weren't working I mean we worked really hard
- 56:20Speaker 3: on this album pretty much since tour was over I've
- 56:22Speaker 3: been writing and you know just Recording, all that. So,
- 56:29Speaker 3: I mean, we recorded 50 or 51 songs and cut
- 56:33Speaker 3: 13 or 14. Wow.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Really?
- 56:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 56:38Speaker 1: So what happens to a lot? You just kind of
- 56:39Speaker 1: decide this doesn't fit here right now?
- 56:41Speaker 3: Yeah, some of the songs were songs that I wrote.
- 56:44Speaker 3: Some of them weren't. So if I didn't write them,
- 56:46Speaker 3: then they'll just, whatever happens to them, not up to
- 56:49Speaker 3: me anymore. And then if I did, you know, who knows?
- 56:52Speaker 3: I might make a side project. project of something if
- 56:57Speaker 3: you know something that has nothing to do with my
- 56:59Speaker 3: name i've always kind of wanted to do that anyway
- 57:01Speaker 3: you know just kind of figure out a way to
- 57:05Speaker 3: it wouldn't be my voice it wouldn't i don't know
- 57:07Speaker 3: how you do that i'm sure there's all kinds of
- 57:09Speaker 3: ways to go about it now you know these days
- 57:10Speaker 3: but oh yeah but not be my name not my
- 57:13Speaker 3: voice not be any kind of style of music that
- 57:15Speaker 3: i that i normally do you know just to see
- 57:18Speaker 3: what happens to it yeah it might be like house
- 57:20Speaker 3: music or something you know i don't.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Know pretty sick dude Yeah, dude, if you had house music.
- 57:26Speaker 3: I mean, people would, if they saw my name on it,
- 57:28Speaker 3: they would, I don't want it to have my name
- 57:30Speaker 3: on it. I want to just see what happens if
- 57:31Speaker 3: it just gets put out into the world. You know,
- 57:33Speaker 3: maybe I'll like put it on a story or something,
- 57:35Speaker 3: whoever it is, you know, Dream Jacker or whatever the
- 57:38Speaker 3: team is, but whatever the name of the guy is.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Wet Dream Jacker, that'd be mine.
- 57:46Speaker 3: Dream Jacking, currently. I mean, me and my buddies were
- 57:54Speaker 3: talking about this topic the other day, actually. I don't know.
- 57:58Speaker 3: It might actually happen.
- 57:58Speaker 1: Putting out something secret, low-key? Yeah. Creating something? Yeah. Yeah, well,
- 58:01Speaker 1: I bet, because that's an interesting thing. It's like once
- 58:03Speaker 1: you kind of have made a name in one space,
- 58:05Speaker 1: it's kind of hard. You can't, you know, you almost have,
- 58:08Speaker 1: if you want to get a real test of what
- 58:10Speaker 1: people think of something, you kind of have to secretly
- 58:12Speaker 1: do it some other way.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Yeah, but it wouldn't even be similar to the type
- 58:17Speaker 3: of music that I'm doing.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Totally, I understand that.
- 58:18Speaker 3: It would be nothing even close to what I'm doing now.
- 58:21Speaker 3: It would be like, I mean, I like house music
- 58:25Speaker 3: a little bit. So I'll listen to it working out
- 58:27Speaker 3: or driving or stuff, you know, like melodic stuff. Like
- 58:29Speaker 3: that kind of stuff? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I feel
- 58:32Speaker 3: like a lot of that stuff doesn't necessarily have... uh,
- 58:36Speaker 3: a lot of words and stuff, you know? So maybe
- 58:38Speaker 3: what if I took a song of mine that didn't
- 58:40Speaker 3: make my album, but it's got a story, it's got
- 58:42Speaker 3: all these things, you know, what if, what would people,
- 58:44Speaker 3: would people like that?
- 58:45Speaker 1: I don't know. Dude, I've thought this, I thought, started
- 58:48Speaker 1: thinking of this about two years ago. So they have
- 58:50Speaker 1: like ED, you go to these nightclubs and stuff and
- 58:52Speaker 1: they'll have like, um, John Summit, these different kinds of
- 58:54Speaker 1: guys who are playing like, um, house like trance or whatever,
- 58:58Speaker 1: whatever it is, it's just people doing dope really late
- 59:00Speaker 1: at night and just doing like this, you know, whatever
- 59:02Speaker 1: that is.
- 59:03Speaker 3: I don't know the difference between all of those styles
- 59:05Speaker 3: of music. It's like, it's one style of music. I
- 59:07Speaker 3: know there's sub genres and all that, but yeah.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Same. I don't have a clue, but I'm always like,
- 59:12Speaker 1: why don't they have a, like a more like country
- 59:15Speaker 1: or like, why is it always like if they had
- 59:17Speaker 1: remixes of a lot of great country music like that
- 59:21Speaker 1: and you put it to that same type of shit
- 59:23Speaker 1: that because a lot of people want to still go
- 59:25Speaker 1: have that environment but I don't sometimes you get tired
- 59:27Speaker 1: of that music it just gets kind of old so
- 59:29Speaker 1: if they had remixes of some dope country shit I'm
- 59:31Speaker 1: like if they had two country DJs that came out
- 59:33Speaker 1: I feel like it would be so sick just doing
- 59:35Speaker 1: remixes and shit.
- 59:36Speaker 3: It would be cool I'm surprised they don't have that
- 59:38Speaker 3: already me.
- 59:38Speaker 1: Too me and Kayla Presley thought about trying to do
- 59:41Speaker 1: it but then it was just like just don't have
- 59:42Speaker 1: a lot of time you know And that becomes something too.
- 59:45Speaker 1: It's like, there's things you want to do and you
- 59:46Speaker 1: just don't have enough time, you know?
- 59:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:48Speaker 3: And that's, it's smart for you to realize that. I mean,
- 59:50Speaker 3: it'd be like, well, I'm going to quit my job.
- 59:52Speaker 3: It pays all my bills and, you know, go be
- 59:56Speaker 3: a Mason. It's like, well, maybe don't do that. So, yeah.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Just fucking remix it. Fucking Brooks and Dunn. Um, before
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: you go, man, uh, You have some amazing artists that
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: are going to be on some of these tour dates
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: with you.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I do.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Did you have to call them individually and ask them?
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: How'd that kind of go? Because some of these are idols, really,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: in the industry.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: Well, I feel, you know, Miranda, I'm good friends with Miranda.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: I'm good friends with Brooks and Dunn.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: So that was pretty easy?
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, there was already mutual interest. That's something
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: that's kind of been a conversation for a little bit
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: longer than just, you know, this year. So that one
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: kind of just worked itself out between them and my managers.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: I'm good friends with Thomas Redd as well.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: He's nice, huh?
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: He's super nice.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: God, what a nice guy. He lives nearby, I think.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you're right. It just all kind of
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: happened pretty naturally. But, I mean, it's unbelievable to me.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: I haven't really– this page that's pulled up, I mean,
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: just to see the people that are– that are opening
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: for me. It's like, it doesn't even make sense.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: You know, Miranda Ella Langley. She's a new, yeah, she's
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: a bad-ass or she's newly more popular. Yeah. I'm not
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: going to say she's new. I don't know about her history.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I don't either, but Miranda Corey can, I'm not familiar
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: with him. If it's a man, it is.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: Yeah. He's good too.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: I'm going to have to check him out.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Um, yeah.
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: And Wilson, she's, she's a Christian artist, um, by trait,
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: but she's, you know, dabbling in the country music world. She's,
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: she's really good. Um, You know, she's on our agency, so.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: She is?
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: Yep, yep.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: You started off to check her out. Oh, Gavin Adcock's
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: out there.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: With you, too? Yeah, he's a wild man.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: That fucking guy's a wild dude.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: I love that guy, man.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Oh, dude, yeah. He's walking like, I see he'll eat
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: a fucking, he'll eat a damn three-pack. I saw him
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: eat a three-pack of beers.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: He probably did.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Oh, he'll eat fucking two beers, dude. Yeah, he doesn't
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: give a damn, dude. he played offensive line for bud
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: light for a couple of years. I think there is
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: nobody like him.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: He's definitely outlandish. One of those things, those military, one
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: of those MREs or whatever, he just got beer in there.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: But he, he's a, he's entertaining. He's got, he's got
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: a good voice too. And his, his music seems like
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: he's just keeps getting better too. So I'm, I'm happy
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: for him, man.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: I got to tap in more with him. I saw
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: him play with the kid rocking him on one of
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: his shows last year. Dude, I'll say this. Bob Ritchie,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: his live performance, dude.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: No, he'll let him have it, won't he?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Bro, I was fucking, I mean, I know, you know,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: but I didn't, it was good.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: I've never seen it firsthand, but I can imagine.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: I mean, I knew it would be, but it's just
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: been some time, you know. It's hard to keep up,
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: you know. I mean, being out there for two hours,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I mean, you guys get– I mean, it's a lot, man.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: It is, man. It can be for sure. I mean,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: depends on how often you do it too, you know.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: I mean, if you're doing it– some people, I guess,
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: still do it three nights a week. I'm just going
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: to do it two because it feels like a disservice
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: to me and everyone else to do it three days
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: in a row, you know. But two seems like a
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: good sweet spot. You can– as long– you know, you
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: play the show– probably don't go to bed till three
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: four in the morning just because you're so wound up.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: Yeah you're up people visit and you got to say
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: bye to everybody all that.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Shit well i don't do all that anymore much but
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: even if your family's there yeah but even still they
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: know what the priorities are at this point so if
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: i if i play a show you'll head out which
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: my boy if my boy's with me he'll be asleep
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: already anyway so i'll just we head straight out don't
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: stick around i try to go to bed as soon
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: as possible usually like i said don't have no three
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: or four Then you try your best to sleep till noon, one, two,
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: as late as you possibly can just because of your
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: voice after doing all that. You know, you need all
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: that rest. So it's become a little bit more like
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: a regimen for me, which is good. You know, I
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: got a vocal coach and all that stuff too now.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: So it's just like, it's like a whole boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: This is how it is now, you know, and that
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: seems to help me a lot.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it's kind of interesting. When I was a
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: little younger, I could do those, I could do, you know,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: some of those stretches and now I'm like, I don't,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: I wish I, When I do see them on the schedule,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: it's a little bit tougher. Not comparing comedy and what,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: No, but you're, I mean, it is. But it's still
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: the same thing.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: It's like a regimen. It's like, yeah, I got to
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: sleep in late. And it's like, well, that kind of
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: sucks because now it's like, it's kind of hard if
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: you wake up at 10 to go back to sleep
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: for two more hours just because it's light out.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: It's really hard.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: It's hard, but you know you need that two more
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: hours of sleep. Otherwise, I'm going to be edgy, you know,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: and I won't be able to, I might not want
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: to go work out. Just all the little things, like.
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it is. It's important.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Because it's just about getting yourself back on the stage
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: for that next thing. When it's time to go, it's
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: time to go.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, back in the day, I mean, which
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: we weren't playing two-hour shows back then either, you know,
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: but we would play six shows in one week, you know.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: So I don't know how– I mean, it just had
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: to be young, I guess, you know. I mean, it
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: wasn't like we were– the only regimen then was sleep
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: till four, start drinking at five. You know what I mean?
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: Like that's what it was then, and we're going to
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: be good. Ain't that right? Yeah.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: Bro, hell yeah, that's the Gavin Adcock National Anthem.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I think back in the day, if I had
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: a camera on me like Adcock does now, they would
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: be probably saying some similar stuff about me, but he's
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: a little more bold with it, I guess, than I was.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Well, he's really, yeah. Oh, dude, he'll be on stage.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: People are throwing fucking beers. He just has beers bouncing
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: off of him. He's an animal, dude. He'll be like,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: the PA system's shut down, but we're going to still
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: fucking perform. He'll hollow out a beer can and just
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: yell out of it and shit. He's fucking doing all
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: kinds of shit. He is ballsy, dude. His personality's cool.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: He's a fun guy. Very entertaining. I've got to tap
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: into more of his music. I haven't listened to a
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: lot of his music.
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: Yeah, you need to get him on here.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I do need to. People say that we look
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: alike a little bit, but I think they're just being
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: nice to me.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: To you or him One of us One of us, dude.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you got your drink here, man You brought
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: this today That real tea How's it going?
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: Real tea Man, it seems to be Seems to be
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: progressing nicely It's good, I like it I like it
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: on ice better Yeah, bro But I've always liked sweet
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: tea better on ice I mean, you know, because I've
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: been I'm trying to eat and live and drink And
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: all that stuff clean So for something that's actually You know, healthy,
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: it's good. Yeah. Yeah, it's good for sure.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: I like it. I like having a nice little can
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: of tea or something. I'll keep a couple in the car.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: I'll drink them warm even.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Do you?
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll get a whole one in me at a stoplight.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't do all that.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: You don't? No.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: My drummer told me one time he had drank, like,
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: I can't remember how many, you know, like 13 or
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: something ungodly in a short amount of time, said, Damn, man.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: You're going to have kidney stones for sure.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: Well, maybe he'll have a band, a cover band of
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: the Rolling Stones. It's called Kidney Stones. Kidney Stones. Is
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: there a song sometimes of your own that you'll listen
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: to or one that catches you sometimes and it'll kind
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: of catch in your feels a little bit? Is there
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: any one that you're like.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, the song I wrote to my son
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: is the song.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Oh, the one that's not out yet.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that does that. It'll be out soon, but I mean.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: It's also one of those things to where, you know,
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: I've tried so many times to write a song like
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: that for him and it always fell flat. So I'd
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: listen to it on the way home or whatever after
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: we wrote it and I'd be like, that's good, you know,
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: but it's not, it's not how I want it. And
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: I also didn't want to write like a song to
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: him that was all, I don't know, sappy and, slow
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: and you know just like what you would expect a
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: dad son song to be you know I wish you
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: wouldn't grow up you know all that like I didn't
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: want it to be that I.
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: Wanted another birthday cake yeah it's like I didn't want
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: that song at all that song's been written plenty enough
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: so and I wanted it to keep like have a
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: little bit of my my sound and my swag and
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: just like and to be honest you know so it
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: was a hard thing to try to get all those
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: things wrapped up into one song and what it's called
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: superman is what it's called and i feel like we
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: accomplished that.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: When i was when we wrote it and i was
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: riding home it was actually the last song that made
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: my record so it's not like i've had it for
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: a long time you know it took us a while
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: to to get that song and um it was actually
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: blake one of my buddy blake's it was his idea
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: and the hook was different though it said superman I
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: don't remember what the hook was exactly, but I was
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: just singing it, and I was like, oh, I know
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: I know what it is And I changed I changed
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: the hook And it like It made it It was
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: like Oh there it is Unlocked And we all All
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: three of us Or four of us in the room
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: Just kind of was like Oh yeah that's it You
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: know And then on the way home I was listening
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: to it And started crying And That's the first time
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: That it happened With a song For him So that's
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: I kind of knew Yeah.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: That's cool man Yeah, man, there's one thing I've always
