Manhattan’s Upper East Side is reeling from a deadly Legionnaires’ disease outbreak that’s now claimed two lives and infected 72 people since July 2nd — a crisis compounded by wildfire smoke and a nationwide stomach bug. The disease, treatable with antibiotics if caught early, isn’t contagious but spreads through contaminated mist from cooling towers.
