- Lucas: Luna, welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo. Episode 80 — can you believe we're here? Luna: I know, it's amazing. And I'm feeling confident after all those episodes on drinks and the hotel. But today — let's talk about getting around. Lucas: Yes, we're going to the bus stop. I'm picturing you standing on a street corner in Kuala Lumpur, and you need to find the bus station. Luna: Oh, I've been there. I remember walking around looking lost. So what do I say? Lucas: First phrase: 'Di mana stesen bas?' Let's break it down. 'Di mana' means 'where', 'stesen bas' is 'bus station'. So 'Di mana stesen bas?' — where is the bus station? Luna: Di mana stesen bas? Di mana stesen bas. That's got a nice rhythm. Lucas: Exactly. Now try it slowly: Di... mana... stesen... bas. Di mana stesen bas? Luna: Di mana stesen bas? Good. And maybe someone points and says 'di sana' — over there. So 'Stesen bas di sana.' Lucas: Perfect. 'Stesen bas di sana' — the bus station is over there. 'Stesen bas di sini' — the bus station is here. Two very useful phrases. Luna: Stesen bas di sana. Stesen bas di sini. So if I'm standing right in front of it, I'd say 'Stesen bas di sini.' Lucas: Right. And a full sentence you might use: 'Saya nak pergi ke stesen bas.' — I want to go to the bus station. Let's hear that. Luna: Saya nak pergi ke stesen bas. Saya nak pergi ke stesen bas. That's a bit longer, but I can feel the pattern. Lucas: You've got it. So imagine you're asking a local: 'Di mana stesen bas?' And they reply: 'Stesen bas di sana.' Then you say 'Terima kasih' — thank you. Luna: That's a whole mini-conversation. Di mana stesen bas? Stesen bas di sana. Terima kasih. I love it. Lucas: Let's practice all four today. Repeat after me: Di mana stesen bas? Luna: Di mana stesen bas? Lucas: Stesen bas di sana. Luna: Stesen bas di sana. Lucas: Stesen bas di sini. Luna: Stesen bas di sini. Lucas: Saya nak pergi ke stesen bas. Luna: Saya nak pergi ke stesen bas. Oof, that's a mouthful but I think I got it. Lucas: You did. Now let's put it in a scene. You're at a market in Penang, and you need to catch a bus. You see a friendly person. Luna: I walk up and say: 'Maaf, di mana stesen bas?' They point and say: 'Stesen bas di sana.' I smile: 'Terima kasih!' And off I go. Lucas: Perfect. That's all you need.
