Speaker 1: Hey, I do Part two.
• 0:21
Speaker 2: It's your celebrity mentor Susan Noles and Batty Schwartz from
• 0:26
Speaker 2: The Golden Bachelor in our podcast Bachelor Happy Hours Golden Hour.
• 0:32
Speaker 1: And we have a lot to cover in today's news.
• 0:34
Speaker 2: We're talking divorce trends, splits in so much more in
• 0:39
  Speaker 2: chapter two.
• 0:40
Speaker 1: You ready to get into this.
• 0:42
Speaker 3: We got to get into it, and we have got
• 0:44
Speaker 3: to start. Have you heard about this new trend with
• 0:47
Speaker 3: divorce rings, how women are celebrating their breakups. I can't, Susan.
• 0:52
Speaker 3: I mean they're having they're repurposing engagement rings, they're doing parties, tattoos,
• 1:00
Speaker 3: wild home renovations like what just happened to simple divorce?
• 1:05
Speaker 4: I don't know. What do you think about it?
• 1:08
Speaker 1: British Vogue is all about it. It's written up in there,
• 1:11
Speaker 1: so it is a thing.
• 1:13
Speaker 3: I mean, we all know if Vogue says that it
• 1:14
Speaker 3: must be true, right, So here's what I'm hearing about it.
• 1:18
Speaker 3: They're putting it a ring on their fingers.
• 1:21
Speaker 4: Sometimes it's made of metal.
• 1:23
Speaker 3: Sometimes they're you know, repurposing their engagement ring. Remember they
• 1:29
Speaker 3: talked about conscious uncoupling.
• 1:31
Speaker 4: Yes, well now we're doing like conscious unhitching with jewelry.
• 1:38
Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know, you know what all celebrate
• 1:41
Speaker 2: when we get married and we get a wedding ring,
• 1:43
Speaker 2: And why be miserable at your divorce. Let's celebrate it
• 1:47
Speaker 2: and put a sign on there that I'm divorced. Sometimes
• 1:51
Speaker 2: I think they even tattoo.
• 1:53
Speaker 4: Well, here's the thing. I think a lot of women are.
• 1:58
Speaker 3: You know, they're having parties, they're bringing their force attorneys state,
• 2:01
Speaker 3: they all get together. I think it's a new way
• 2:04
Speaker 3: of building community for the divorce women that are, frankly
• 2:10
Speaker 3: a larger and larger part of our community. I don't know,
• 2:14
Speaker 3: I'm not sure that we'll talk about my ring in
• 2:19
Speaker 3: a minute, but go ahead.
• 2:20
Speaker 4: What were you gonna say?
• 2:21
Speaker 1: The girl and gone girl?
• 2:23
Speaker 4: That model Emily Radikalska.
• 2:27
Speaker 2: She celebrated her divorce from Sebastian Bear macclair with not one,
• 2:33
Speaker 2: but two rings that incorporated the diamonds from her engagement ring.
• 2:38
Speaker 1: So this is like a new sport.
• 2:40
Speaker 4: I mean, you know, this is called new recycling.
• 2:45
Speaker 3: Why sell a diamond ring for a quarter of its value?
• 2:49
Speaker 3: Why not just have a new ring made?
• 2:53
Speaker 4: But I got to tell you so.
• 2:54
Speaker 3: In Vogue they go on to talk about jewelers are
• 2:57
Speaker 3: making these rings like it is a thing. Now bind
• 3:03
  Speaker 3: a ring, wearing it proudly, a lavish I don't know,
• 3:07
  Speaker 3: a divorce ring.
• 3:08
Speaker 2: You wear it on the same finger, or I'd probably
• 3:10
Speaker 2: wear it on my middle finger because i won't want
• 3:12
Speaker 2: somebody else to think I'm not taking So.
• 3:16
  Speaker 4: I don't know.
• 3:17
Speaker 3: It's a whole new thing for social media. Flash your ice,
• 3:19
Speaker 3: your new ice on social media. But here's what I
• 3:23
Speaker 3: want to know. If I'm gonna wear one, and I'm
• 3:27
Speaker 3: surprised you wouldn't say this, do you know what finger
• 3:29
Speaker 3: I'd wear it on? And I think a lot of
• 3:31
Speaker 3: women are doing this the middle one because it can
• 3:35
Speaker 3: it sends a message in so many ways.
• 3:38
  Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know what I think about.
• 3:44
Speaker 2: Did you hear there's divorce cakes, divorce party games?
• 3:47
Speaker 1: I mean, pin the tail on the X anyone?
• 3:52
Speaker 4: I don't what do you think about it? Though?
• 3:54
Speaker 3: Like, I'm not sure? So you know I'm a widow
• 3:57
Speaker 3: your divorce? What'd you do with your diamond ring?
• 4:00
Speaker 2: Actually my kids benefited from it because the Centerson, my
• 4:05
Speaker 2: first son was getting engaged and he couldn't afford what
• 4:09
Speaker 2: he wanted, so I gave him that My at first
• 4:13
Speaker 2: my daughter had it, and then they that didn't work out,
• 4:16
Speaker 2: and I had it set in a Christopher had it
• 4:19
Speaker 2: set in a ring for Jessica, my daughter in law.
• 4:22
  Speaker 4: That's great.
• 4:22
Speaker 2: Well how about you, Well, yours wasn't a Morris obviously
• 4:26
  Speaker 2: my husband died.
• 4:27
Speaker 3: I it's funny. I wear my diamond ring on my
• 4:32
Speaker 3: right hand. But you know what I've noticed and aren't
• 4:36
Speaker 3: so smart they can't tell right now, They're like, oh,
• 4:41
Speaker 3: she's married, So I've stopped wearing it.
• 4:44
Speaker 4: If I go out, I just wear like nothing on.
• 4:47
Speaker 1: A necklace or have a bracelet mate or something.
• 4:50
  Speaker 3: I don't know because I'm you know what I'm going
• 4:51
Speaker 3: to do with that. I'm going to give it to
• 4:52
  Speaker 3: my granddaughter.
• 4:54
Speaker 1: Okay, we'll see eventually.
• 4:55
Speaker 3: But but wait, we're not just so. It's not just
• 4:58
Speaker 3: rings that people are doing. They there's paintings, like doing
• 5:04
Speaker 3: their own mural. Apparently Jessica Alba did one after filing
• 5:09
Speaker 3: for divorce from her husband Cash Warren, Like, I want
• 5:13
  Speaker 3: to burn it.
• 5:15
Speaker 1: That one broke my heart. I love them together. Nicole
• 5:19
Speaker 1: Kidman and Keith Urban.
• 5:21
Speaker 2: And Jennifer Aniston Andreith Rereith's Witherspoon are said to be
• 5:27
Speaker 2: throwing a big one for her after her split.
• 5:31
Speaker 4: Okay, but here's the thing. Here's the thing.
• 5:33
  Speaker 3: When the celebration's over, let's let's let's go here, Susan.
• 5:37
Speaker 5: We got we got our divorce rings, we've got our tattoos,
• 5:41
  Speaker 5: We've had our parties, we've had a mural, We've got
• 5:43
Speaker 5: a tattoo that some of them are doing that says
• 5:46
Speaker 5: life is transformation is life?
• 5:48
Speaker 4: Like? Okay, once we've done all this and.
• 5:52
Speaker 3: You know we've we hate the man, We've made it
• 5:54
Speaker 3: in all of our social media.
• 5:56
Speaker 4: We're done. When do we come back around to?
• 6:01
Speaker 3: And maybe not him, but you know, maybe I want
• 6:04
Speaker 3: to get married again. I mean, if I were a guy,
• 6:06
Speaker 3: I'd like, I'm not touch her with a ten foot fall.
• 6:09
Speaker 4: She's gonna have me on a billboard somewhere.
• 6:11
Speaker 2: And also, Kathy, this is saying that both parties wanted
• 6:15
Speaker 2: the divorce to have a celebration like this. That means
• 6:18
Speaker 2: both Sometimes that does happen and they they agree they're
• 6:22
Speaker 2: not meant to be and they go their separate ways.
• 6:24
Speaker 1: That I can understand. How like this well person sad
• 6:28
  Speaker 1: over it.
• 6:29
Speaker 3: I don't think husband and wives are having these party
• 6:32
Speaker 3: divorcees are having this party together. I think Jennifer Aniston,
• 6:36
Speaker 3: Nicole Kinman, these women are having these parties.
• 6:40
Speaker 4: I do not think.
• 6:41
Speaker 3: I do not think the X or Y chromosome, whichever
• 6:44
  Speaker 3: one men is.
• 6:46
  Speaker 4: That men are. I think they're X. They're not invited.
• 6:49
  Speaker 3: But I'm just saying it's it's uh, it's a lot.
• 6:54
Speaker 4: I mean, it is a lot.
• 6:56
Speaker 2: Didn't Rachel Zoe from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
• 7:00
  Speaker 2: just do this?
• 7:01
Speaker 4: Yeah, she was married over twenty years. You know what
• 7:03
Speaker 4: it says to me?
• 7:04
  Speaker 3: Honestly, it's like I'd rather I mean, this is a
• 7:10
Speaker 3: big public statement about divorce. I hate you. I'm going
• 7:14
Speaker 3: to have a party. I'm going to tack tooo how
• 7:15
Speaker 3: much I hate you. Then I'm going to burn something
• 7:18
Speaker 3: in effigy of you.
• 7:20
Speaker 2: I don't think of the focus like that. Like for me,
• 7:22
Speaker 2: for instance, we're really good friends. We do things together
• 7:26
Speaker 2: still with our grandkids. And also not everybody is the
• 7:29
Speaker 2: I hate ours was more like we can't.
• 7:32
  Speaker 4: Yeah, we are.
• 7:33
Speaker 3: Also, with all due respect, you're not Nicole Kidman, You're
• 7:35
Speaker 3: not Jefferson, You're not in you know, they have children,
• 7:40
Speaker 3: they have I heard the funniest thing the other day
• 7:42
Speaker 3: about Nicole Kidman's divorce from Keith Urban, Like, yeah, he's
• 7:50
Speaker 3: you know, I let me just say publicly.
• 7:53
Speaker 4: I don't think i'd want to do it.
• 7:55
Speaker 3: I get it, they're public, but we got to move
• 7:57
Speaker 3: on to the next one.
• 7:59
Speaker 1: Okay, else split you're ready?
• 8:02
  Speaker 4: Yep?
• 8:02
Speaker 2: I o'cook and Amanda Bachelor announced their separation after four.
• 8:07
Speaker 1: Years of marriage. We're going to go their separate ways.
• 8:11
Speaker 2: They post it to their Instagram stories on Monday till nineteenth.
• 8:18
Speaker 2: What they say, we have mutually and amicably decided to
• 8:22
Speaker 2: part ways as a couple. We share this heavy heart
• 8:25
Speaker 2: and kindly ask for your grace and support while we
• 8:29
Speaker 2: focus on our personal growth and healing. And it feels
• 8:34
Speaker 2: ironic for them to ask for privacy when their whole
• 8:38
  Speaker 2: marriage was public.
• 8:39
Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, but they say, they said, it feels ironic
• 8:43
Speaker 3: to ask for privacy during this time, since we've always
• 8:45
Speaker 3: tried to be open and honest about our relationship. But
• 8:49
Speaker 3: your kindness and respect will go a long way as
• 8:51
Speaker 3: we try to navigate our chapter. And the statement concluded
• 8:56
Speaker 3: with him signing a man and Kyle.
• 8:58
Speaker 2: He's forty three thirty four. They got engaged in and
• 9:03
Speaker 2: tied the knot in twenty one. It was actually postponed
• 9:07
Speaker 2: due to COVID and it.
• 9:08
Speaker 1: Was right here in Jersey, you know.
• 9:11
Speaker 2: And throughout their relationship, which was documented on Summerhouse, pair
• 9:17
Speaker 2: has been open about their struggles. In season three of
• 9:23
Speaker 2: the Bravo series, which aired in March of twenty nineteen,
• 9:27
Speaker 2: Cook confessed to cheating on her, claiming the blackout during
• 9:33
Speaker 2: the guy's trip and woke up with a girl in
• 9:36
Speaker 2: his bed, and recent rumors that they had split began
• 9:41
Speaker 2: to squirrel when Bachelor claimed that Cook spent the night
• 9:44
Speaker 2: at a fans apartment in the.
• 9:47
Speaker 1: Trailer for season ten of Summerhouse.
• 9:50
Speaker 2: Come on, I mean, yeah, Kyle was sleeping some fans apartment.
• 9:57
Speaker 1: It came home at like six thirty in the morning.
• 10:00
Speaker 3: I mean seriously, so so Amanda. You know, she's told
• 10:06
Speaker 3: Clara Miller and Lindsey Hubbard there expressing their disapproval. That's
• 10:11
Speaker 3: like saying the sun rises in the east. I mean,
• 10:14
Speaker 3: but here's the thing. They're young.
• 10:17
  Speaker 4: Cook's forty three, she's thirty four. They're young. It's public.
• 10:22
Speaker 4: It shouldn't be public.
• 10:24
Speaker 2: Well, their whole I mean else was public, so why
• 10:26
Speaker 2: shouldn't that be public.
• 10:28
Speaker 3: Well, that's what humor's about, the masking now for privacy.
• 10:32
Speaker 2: My advice to them do it nice and move on.
• 10:36
Speaker 2: Thirty four years old, you got a whole life ahead
• 10:38
  Speaker 2: of you, right.
• 10:39
Speaker 3: My advice is, get out of the limelight anyway you can.
• 10:43
Speaker 3: Do not take out a billboard, do not burn an effigy,
• 10:47
  Speaker 3: do not.
• 10:48
Speaker 1: Is she going to get a divorce ring?
• 10:50
Speaker 3: I would know she's going to join Jennifer Anson the
• 10:53
Speaker 3: rest of the crew and have a big party. I
• 10:55
Speaker 3: got to say, though, Susan, it's got to be difficult
• 10:57
Speaker 3: for these Hollywood people to you know, do you want
• 11:01
Speaker 3: it publicly known that your husband, a recent ex wakes
• 11:05
Speaker 3: up with a van? I mean, really, do you want?
• 11:10
Speaker 4: I don't want to know that? All right now we're
• 11:13
Speaker 4: going to move on to p K. Kemsley.
• 11:16
Speaker 3: He's made a bold statement on his life amid divorce.
• 11:20
  Speaker 5: Paul p K.
• 11:21
Speaker 3: Kemsley is sharing a new look at his life today.
• 11:24
Speaker 3: Amid his divorce from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
• 11:28
Speaker 3: cast member Darree Kemsley. PK has been so incredibly busy
• 11:33
Speaker 3: with his life and job as Boy Georgia's talent manager.
• 11:37
Speaker 3: The UK native has taken to Instagram who hasn't over
• 11:42
Speaker 3: the past few months, where he revealed several new looks
• 11:46
Speaker 3: at his life, including that he has been gearing up
• 11:49
Speaker 3: for boy George's US tour, which by the way, begins
• 11:52
Speaker 3: in February, hanging out with some old friends called pairing
• 11:56
Speaker 3: the two children that he shares with Deret and ringing
• 11:59
Speaker 3: in the new with his dad, Kenny Counseley. But p
• 12:02
Speaker 3: K is ready for a break from his busy lifestyle,
• 12:07
Speaker 3: so the entrepreneur took to his Instagram story on January fifteenth,
• 12:11
Speaker 3: where he posted a photo of himself sitting against a bar,
• 12:15
Speaker 3: looking directly into the camera with his salt and pepper
• 12:19
Speaker 3: colored hair into a neat cooff dear life, he says,
• 12:25
Speaker 3: I've had enough of the bull blankety blank, he wrote
• 12:29
  Speaker 3: over the photo.
• 12:30
Speaker 4: Can we take a break? Please?
• 12:33
Speaker 3: Dreat and Pik are still married as their divorce has
• 12:37
Speaker 3: not yet been finalized. The mom of two appeared on
• 12:40
Speaker 3: Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on January fifteenth,
• 12:43
Speaker 3: where she revealed to host Andy Cohen that things are
• 12:47
Speaker 3: still rough between her and her strange husband.
• 12:51
Speaker 4: You don't know how much I would love to be
• 12:52
  Speaker 4: sitting here.
• 12:54
Speaker 3: You asking me that question and say, yeah, Sandy, things
• 12:57
Speaker 3: are so much better. This is coming from to read.
• 13:01
Speaker 3: But she admitted that was not the case. No, she added,
• 13:04
Speaker 3: shaking her head from side to side.
• 13:06
  Speaker 4: I don't know, Susan.
• 13:08
Speaker 2: You got to respect her for not just going off.
• 13:10
Speaker 2: You know, she's keeping it low key. She's not going
• 13:14
Speaker 2: to announce it with Andy on TV.
• 13:17
Speaker 1: Like. You got to respect that.
• 13:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, but here, I mean, listen, public divorce is public divorce.
• 13:26
Speaker 3: But you know she's not being all that above board either.
• 13:29
Speaker 3: I believe she's told him or called him an alcoholic,
• 13:32
Speaker 3: which you know he may or may not be. Here's
• 13:35
Speaker 3: the thing, when you're in the public eye, when you're
• 13:37
  Speaker 3: on a public.
• 13:37
Speaker 4: Television show, meaning you know, Beverly.
• 13:40
Speaker 3: Housewives, Housewife's Beverly Hills, if you're in the public eye,
• 13:45
  Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I think it's asking a lot to your
• 13:47
Speaker 3: fans who have put you where you are to say,
• 13:50
Speaker 3: you know what, leave us alone, don't make any comments.
• 13:54
Speaker 3: We want our privacy. You can have it both ways,
• 13:57
  Speaker 3: That's what I think.
• 13:58
Speaker 4: Well you think o him.
• 14:00
Speaker 2: Look in the camera and say, dear life, I've had
• 14:02
Speaker 2: enough of this bullsh please, and she's just like no.
• 14:07
Speaker 3: Well, and here's my thing. He might have had enough
• 14:09
Speaker 3: of it. Does he want the paychecks to keep coming?
• 14:12
Speaker 3: I'm guessing that, Okay, the next one. I'm tortured by
• 14:17
Speaker 3: the next one because I love this guy, Like I
• 14:20
Speaker 3: envisioned myself meeting this guy in of Starbucks and he's
• 14:24
Speaker 3: the Dermott mulrooney. You having him said to me, you
• 14:28
Speaker 3: are the girl that I've wanted my whole life.
• 14:31
Speaker 4: Dancing with him at the wedding like this is my man.
• 14:34
Speaker 1: One of my favorite shows movies.
• 14:36
  Speaker 5: Right.
• 14:38
Speaker 2: Dermott settles divorce from Prima outside of court.
• 14:42
Speaker 1: You know he's sixty two for me.
• 14:45
Speaker 2: His own lawyer filed a declaration for an uncontested dissolution
• 14:51
Speaker 2: of the marriage on Friday, January sixteenth, According to documents
• 14:55
Speaker 2: obtained by People, The filing reveals that the cup reached
• 15:00
Speaker 2: a settlement through meditation.
• 15:03
Speaker 1: Outside of it's through mediation, mediation. I beg you for
• 15:07
Speaker 1: I thought they were meditating.
• 15:09
Speaker 3: Well, he probably probably needs to. I'm saying, first of all,
• 15:14
Speaker 3: after they meditated and mediated, good for them that they
• 15:19
Speaker 3: got it done outside of court, right, Good for them.
• 15:22
Speaker 3: But all I want to know is where is he now?
• 15:25
  Speaker 4: Stop? Stop? Wait?
• 15:27
Speaker 2: He also is representing himself, and I know that it
• 15:32
Speaker 2: addresses payment of attorney fees, spousal and child support, as
• 15:37
Speaker 2: well as custody and visitation matters regarding their two daughters. Unbelievable, Like,
• 15:44
Speaker 2: I think that's kind of smart. Mabel Ray seventeen and
• 15:47
Speaker 2: Sally june Is fifteen. Once a judge signs off, the
• 15:52
Speaker 2: divorce will be finalized.
• 15:53
Speaker 3: Okay, but here's the thing, it doesn't happen very often.
• 15:57
Speaker 3: He filed in June of twenty twenty five, so six
• 16:01
Speaker 3: months ago, after fifteen years of marriage, citing what most
• 16:05
Speaker 3: people do, irreconcilable differences and listing the data separation as
• 16:11
Speaker 3: TBD to be determined. In the initial filing, he asked
• 16:15
Speaker 3: that he and his soon to be ex wife split
• 16:18
Speaker 3: attorney's fees and that they share joint physical and legal
• 16:22
Speaker 3: custody of their minor children. Susan, you know, I have
• 16:25
Speaker 3: not been divorced, but this is pretty standard. This is
• 16:28
Speaker 3: pretty standard legal legally. You know we're gonna we're gonna
• 16:32
Speaker 3: have joint custody. Blah blah blah.
• 16:34
  Speaker 4: Easy.
• 16:35
Speaker 2: Nobody is asking for anything, not one is denying anything.
• 16:40
Speaker 1: They're not arguing over the children or the money.
• 16:43
Speaker 2: Right, they use mediators not lawyers as they are friends.
• 16:48
Speaker 1: I love this, Okay, is amicable.
• 16:52
Speaker 3: Can I just say to you, you know how long
• 16:54
Speaker 3: they're going to stay friends. They're going to stay friends
• 16:57
Speaker 3: until one of them meets somebody else.
• 17:00
Speaker 1: This, No, it does happen, Kathy, Well.
• 17:04
Speaker 3: Listen, Can I just tell you when I meet him
• 17:06
Speaker 3: at Starbucks in LA I don't care if he's got
• 17:10
Speaker 3: twenty children, he is going to be mine.
• 17:13
Speaker 4: I mean, I hate to say.
• 17:14
Speaker 3: It was happier he got divorced, but this guy, ever
• 17:18
Speaker 3: since my best friend's wedding, I was like, where is he?
• 17:20
  Speaker 4: Where is he?
• 17:22
Speaker 1: And Lucky Julia Roberts that's million dollars smile.
• 17:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, well I got one of those too. He's not
• 17:29
Speaker 3: gonna be able to resist me.
• 17:40
Speaker 2: Melissa Gilbert cries court as her husband Timothy is released
• 17:46
Speaker 2: from jail WAF facing child's sex abuse charge.
• 17:49
Speaker 3: Okay, So, after a two hour pre trial detention hearing
• 17:54
Speaker 3: in New Mexico District Court on Tuesday, January twenty one,
• 17:58
Speaker 3: a judge ruled at the sixty eight years old will
• 18:02
Speaker 3: be released with conditions while he awaits trial as he
• 18:08
Speaker 3: faces charges as child sex abius. All right, given the
• 18:14
Speaker 3: lack and this is what the judge had, given the
• 18:17
Speaker 3: lack of a pattern involving children in this case, I
• 18:20
Speaker 3: think that can be remedied through different conditions of release.
• 18:24
Speaker 3: He said this in part while delivering his decision, quote,
• 18:28
Speaker 3: I don't find that there's been sufficient presentation that this
• 18:31
Speaker 3: defendant may commit new crimes in released pending trial. There's
• 18:36
Speaker 3: no evidence of a pattern of criminal conduct. There are
• 18:40
Speaker 3: no similar allegations involving children in his past. There is
• 18:43
Speaker 3: no evidence of non compliance with prior court orders. Rather,
• 18:49
Speaker 3: this defendant self surrendered and submitted himself to the court jurisdiction,
• 18:53
Speaker 3: demonstrating compliance with the court order for his arrest. The
• 18:57
Speaker 3: judge continued, I cannot find that the state is proven
• 19:00
Speaker 3: by clear and convincing evidence that there are no release
• 19:03
Speaker 3: conditions that would reasonably protect the safety of any younger
• 19:07
Speaker 3: person in the community.
• 19:08
Speaker 4: Let me just say to you, this is a.
• 19:10
Speaker 3: Lot of legalese legal jargons saying there almost doesn't sound
• 19:15
Speaker 3: like there is enough information to bring a court case
• 19:19
  Speaker 3: against him.
• 19:21
Speaker 1: What brought in there, Like, you gotta think about that.
• 19:23
Speaker 4: Well, what brought him?
• 19:24
Speaker 3: There were two kids said years ago that he molested them,
• 19:30
Speaker 3: but apparently they were fired on set for behavior cause
• 19:34
Speaker 3: I don't know why they were fired. And you know,
• 19:36
Speaker 3: now how many years later we're gonna take it to court.
• 19:40
Speaker 3: After being released on his own recognizance, Busfield has been
• 19:44
Speaker 3: ordered to appear for all his future court dates and
• 19:47
Speaker 3: is not allowed to possess any firearms or dangerous weapons,
• 19:50
Speaker 3: consume any alcohol or illegal drugs, have contact with the
• 19:54
Speaker 3: alleged victims or their families, discussed the case of any witnesses,
• 19:58
Speaker 3: or have unsupervised contact with any minor children. The judge
• 20:02
Speaker 3: is allowing Busfield to travel, but he will be under
• 20:05
Speaker 3: the supervision of pre trial services in New Mexico and
• 20:09
Speaker 3: must notify the court of his address. Upon hearing the news,
• 20:12
Speaker 3: Busfield's wife, Melissa Gilbert was seeing crime and whispering, thank
• 20:16
Speaker 3: you God, it makes it gives me the chills, Susan.
• 20:19
Speaker 1: That sounds like she was being supportive.
• 20:20
Speaker 4: Such she was, She wrote a letter to the judge.
• 20:23
Speaker 3: Gilbert supported her husband from the courtroom, along with her
• 20:26
Speaker 3: eighty nine year old mom, Barbara Cowan, and her son Michael,
• 20:30
Speaker 3: and Busfield civil lawyer Larry Steen. Busfield's brother Buck Busfield
• 20:35
  Speaker 3: was also in.
• 20:36
Speaker 4: Attendance at the hearing.
• 20:37
Speaker 3: Gilbert previously voiced her support, told I just said this
• 20:41
Speaker 3: or her husband in a letter.
• 20:43
Speaker 4: To the judge in this case.
• 20:45
Speaker 3: In the defendant's response in opposition to the state's motion
• 20:48
Speaker 3: for pre trial detention fouled on January sixteenth, Gilbert was
• 20:53
Speaker 3: one of seventy five I want you to hear that,
• 20:56
Speaker 3: seventy five people who wrote letters of support. She called
• 20:59
Speaker 3: Busfield my life, my rock, my partner in business and life,
• 21:03
Speaker 3: adding that she knows him better and more intimately than
• 21:06
Speaker 3: anything in his life ever has. I'm trying to tow
• 21:09
Speaker 3: a line between logic and all the frailings strolling around me.
• 21:13
Speaker 3: I began this letter with logic, but now the feelings
• 21:16
Speaker 3: have taken over. I can't help it, she wrote. I
• 21:19
Speaker 3: only want this extraordinary man safe and whole. So I
• 21:22
Speaker 3: will close by asking you to please please take care
• 21:25
Speaker 3: of my sweet husband, as he is my protector. I
• 21:28
Speaker 3: am his, but I cannot protect him now, and I
• 21:31
Speaker 3: think that, more than anything else, is what is truly
• 21:34
Speaker 3: breaking my heart. I am relying on you to protect
• 21:38
Speaker 3: him for me, and he first appeared. I know.
• 21:41
  Speaker 4: It's amazing.
• 21:41
Speaker 3: He first appeared in front of a judge on Wednesday,
• 21:45
Speaker 3: January fourteenth, after he was officially charged with two counts
• 21:49
Speaker 3: of criminal sexual conduct of a minor that's a child
• 21:52
Speaker 3: under thirteen and one kind of child abuse on January thirteenth,
• 21:55
Speaker 3: according to prosecutors, Okay, here's what I got to say.
• 22:00
Speaker 3: I want to hear your opinion. First of all, the
• 22:02
Speaker 3: fact that seventy five people came to him, he turned
• 22:05
Speaker 3: himself in. You know, there was a worn't for his arrest.
• 22:08
Speaker 3: He drove to turn himself in. Seventy five letters from
• 22:12
Speaker 3: We're not talking the mailman and the guy that works
• 22:15
Speaker 3: at the grocery store. These are seventy five people out
• 22:17
Speaker 3: of Hollywood who are putting their names on the line
• 22:21
Speaker 3: to protect this guy, to stand.
• 22:23
Speaker 4: Up for him. What do you think. I think it's
• 22:25
Speaker 4: amazing myself. What do you think?
• 22:26
Speaker 2: I think it's outstanding that people actually believe in him
• 22:30
Speaker 2: and believe him like this could have been a case
• 22:32
Speaker 2: of people looking for money. They're going to say he
• 22:35
Speaker 2: did something that he didn't. That's the problem here. So
• 22:39
  Speaker 2: many I could never be a judge. I think I've
• 22:41
Speaker 2: said this to you before so many people. You're innocent
• 22:45
Speaker 2: until proven guilty, but not really based.
• 22:49
Speaker 4: On what the judge says, there's no there's no grants.
• 22:52
Speaker 2: But anyone that gets a sexual abuse charge to a minor,
• 22:56
Speaker 2: to a child, it's an automatic.
• 22:58
Speaker 1: I hate you go to jail.
• 23:00
  Speaker 4: Right.
• 23:01
Speaker 1: They don't even give him the bet.
• 23:02
Speaker 2: That's why seventy five different people stood up for him.
• 23:05
Speaker 3: Well, I mean, well, everyone's innocent. He'll proven guilty. Yes,
• 23:10
Speaker 3: some brings a charge, they have to investigate it. But frankly,
• 23:13
Speaker 3: for me, based on what the judge has said, he
• 23:17
Speaker 3: said it's got no history of this. He is no
• 23:19
Speaker 3: history to that. Like, where is this coming from? I
• 23:21
Speaker 3: personally hope he gets off. I don't think it's true.
• 23:24
Speaker 2: For her to write that letter and her emotional part
• 23:27
Speaker 2: taking over pleading with this judge. Some people like even
• 23:33
Speaker 2: at like a death of a child, not comparing to this,
• 23:35
Speaker 2: But some marriages get even closer together, where other marriages
• 23:40
Speaker 2: it's like a big knife right down the middle.
• 23:42
Speaker 1: How do you feel this one's going.
• 23:45
Speaker 2: I think her support is going to make him love
• 23:48
  Speaker 2: her even more.
• 23:49
Speaker 3: Well, you know that I hang around with a lot
• 23:51
Speaker 3: of people in Hollywood and I and so I know
• 23:53
Speaker 3: the ins and outs of this.
• 23:54
  Speaker 4: That's a joke.
• 23:56
Speaker 3: But I think the fact that she wrote a letter
• 23:59
Speaker 3: to the I think the fact that he turned himself
• 24:02
Speaker 3: in and said this is preposterous and very calmly. I
• 24:06
Speaker 3: think the fact that she from the very beginning, there
• 24:10
Speaker 3: hasn't been one iota from her of questioning him, not one.
• 24:14
Speaker 4: She it defends him. Care for the man who's cared
• 24:17
  Speaker 4: for me.
• 24:17
Speaker 1: I think that'll make her marriage even stronger.
• 24:19
  Speaker 3: I think they've been married, like, I don't know, close
• 24:22
Speaker 3: to thirteen years, maybe fourteen. I think they have a
• 24:26
Speaker 3: very close marriage. They both were married before they know
• 24:30
Speaker 3: what it takes to make a strong marriage. I personally
• 24:33
Speaker 3: think this is going to bring him closer together. I
• 24:36
Speaker 3: think she's going to fight tooth and nail for his freedom.
• 24:39
Speaker 3: And you know what, they have the money.
• 24:41
Speaker 2: If God forbid, it was you, okay, and somebody plant
• 24:45
Speaker 2: that seed, you have to question that. I know you
• 24:48
Speaker 2: love your husband, and I know you think's he's absolutely
• 24:52
Speaker 2: not guilty, but there's got to be one moment of
• 24:56
Speaker 2: oh my god, could he have or no way?
• 24:59
Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Well, I think it's yeah, no,
• 25:02
Speaker 3: I think it's human nature to that to say, wait,
• 25:05
Speaker 3: to maybe say for a fraction of a second season,
• 25:09
Speaker 3: I might say what, and they're absolutely not, or have.
• 25:13
Speaker 1: A conversation with him.
• 25:15
  Speaker 4: You No, never, No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't.
• 25:18
Speaker 2: For me, it would probably just blurred out of my mouth,
• 25:21
Speaker 2: even though I would not knew. Yeah, oh my god,
• 25:25
Speaker 2: I did not do anything like this, did you?
• 25:29
Speaker 4: Yeah? I can hear you doing that.
• 25:30
Speaker 3: What I'm trying to say is I can't imagine being
• 25:34
Speaker 3: married to someone and I know you can't either where
• 25:36
Speaker 3: that would be the case. And remember, we don't know.
• 25:40
Speaker 3: There is more to this story than what we know.
• 25:43
Speaker 3: So given that, I'm guessing there is more to the
• 25:46
Speaker 3: story of these kids that we're never going to know
• 25:48
Speaker 3: unless it gets to court, and then we're going to
• 25:50
Speaker 3: hear all kinds of things.
• 25:52
Speaker 2: And it depends on how big it is in court
• 25:54
Speaker 2: and how loud it gets, whether it affects.
• 25:57
Speaker 1: The marriage or not.
• 25:58
Speaker 2: To certain things are said, questions that are asked, Sometimes
• 26:02
Speaker 2: you just take a step back and go what the actual.
• 26:06
Speaker 4: Okay, let's take a bet now.
• 26:08
Speaker 3: I don't think I think their marriage is going to
• 26:10
Speaker 3: be a strong, if not stronger.
• 26:12
Speaker 1: What do you think that's what I'm hoping for?
• 26:14
Speaker 3: Yes, Okay, well, we're gonna keep watching this.
• 26:17
  Speaker 4: I just I really don't think so.
• 26:19
  Speaker 3: I hate to say it, but I feel I don't
• 26:22
Speaker 3: know how much older these kids are now.
• 26:25
Speaker 4: But you said it earlier.
• 26:26
Speaker 3: I think sometimes people say something happened, you know, eighteen
• 26:32
Speaker 3: years ago, and now he's got some money, I'm gonna
• 26:36
Speaker 3: go after it, you know.
• 26:38
  Speaker 4: So, so I don't know.
• 26:40
Speaker 1: I think he's innocent. Let's pray that the judge thinks so.
• 26:44
Speaker 2: And it sounds by the way the judge is saying, look,
• 26:47
Speaker 2: you're not doing any.
• 26:48
Speaker 3: Harm or I'm going to go when all alts fails.
• 26:52
Speaker 3: It's their third marriage and the third time is the charm.
• 26:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll say stick with that and that's your good
• 27:02
  Speaker 1: luck chart.
• 27:03
Speaker 2: Really, oh man, let's get into Shannon and God rest
• 27:17
Speaker 2: the soul. Doherty ex husband Kurt is challenging he challenges
• 27:23
Speaker 2: the divorce settlement two years after her death. He said
• 27:30
Speaker 2: he's filed legal documents, which people obtained in Los Angeles
• 27:34
Speaker 2: Superior Court on January fourteenth, nearly two months after her estate,
• 27:40
Speaker 2: said he has failed to fulfill several monetary obligations and
• 27:47
Speaker 2: provisions of the settlement that the alleged alleged that the
• 27:52
Speaker 2: divorce settlement, which was signed by her by Shannon on
• 27:56
Speaker 2: July twelfth, twenty twenty four, and Kurt on the following day,
• 28:02
Speaker 2: and was finalized just before her death on July thirteenth
• 28:07
Speaker 2: that year. Was brought in the wrong court, Kathy. Because
• 28:13
Speaker 2: of this, he claimed, the court has no jurisdiction to
• 28:17
Speaker 2: enforce the terms of the agreement.
• 28:19
Speaker 4: Okay, wait before we continue, Before we continue, let me
• 28:23
Speaker 4: just say to you.
• 28:24
Speaker 3: You know, the US law is very particular, and people
• 28:28
  Speaker 3: win on on.
• 28:31
Speaker 4: Technicalities all the time.
• 28:33
Speaker 3: That's what he's trying to do, right, Well, you know, Okay,
• 28:36
Speaker 3: keep going here, Okay, well here, let me give you
• 28:40
Speaker 3: some more. He further argued that the divorce case should
• 28:43
Speaker 3: have been put to an end when Doherty died after
• 28:45
Speaker 3: years long battle with Cancler and the settlement shouldn't have
• 28:49
Speaker 3: even been filed per the legal documents. This comes after
• 28:53
Speaker 3: Doherty's attorneys and Christopher Cortezzo, trustee of the Shannon Doherty
• 28:59
Speaker 3: Family Trust, claimed in a filing on November twenty fourth,
• 29:02
Speaker 3: that Israelanko still owes.
• 29:04
Speaker 4: Money as part of the divorce settlement. Holy smokes.
• 29:08
Speaker 3: This included a provision for him to sell Doherty's one
• 29:12
Speaker 3: point five million Texas home and equally divide the net
• 29:16
Speaker 3: proceeds with her estate. However, the filing stated that he
• 29:21
Speaker 3: has refused to list the Dripping Springs home for sale.
• 29:24
Speaker 3: You understand I live twenty minutes from this home. I'm
• 29:27
Speaker 3: going to go check it out and see if I
• 29:28
Speaker 3: can get it, okay. The filing also claimed that a
• 29:32
Speaker 3: photographer was to buy out Doherty's share of a Mooney
• 29:35
Speaker 3: M twenty airplane for one hundred thousand and pay that
• 29:38
Speaker 3: sum to her estate within five business days of the sale. However,
• 29:42
Speaker 3: he allegedly unilaterally withheld fifty two hundred and seventy four
• 29:48
Speaker 3: dollars from Doherty's estate after making the sale in August
• 29:51
Speaker 3: of twenty twenty four, and as you have to pay
• 29:53
  Speaker 3: the SUN and.
• 29:56
Speaker 2: D Her attorneys noted that that he has also refused
• 30:03
Speaker 2: to return Doherty's items of personal property, including photographs of her,
• 30:09
Speaker 2: which was another provision of the divorce settlement.
• 30:12
Speaker 1: Why couldn't make any photos of her?
• 30:15
  Speaker 4: Keep going?
• 30:16
  Speaker 1: I don't get that part.
• 30:17
Speaker 4: I got thoughts, Keep going.
• 30:21
  Speaker 1: Okay?
• 30:22
Speaker 2: He contended in his January fourteenth filing that Cortezza can't
• 30:29
Speaker 2: Cortano failed to show he has authority under the trust
• 30:35
Speaker 2: to have even introduced the motion in the first place.
• 30:40
Speaker 2: Doherty filed for divorce in twenty twenty three after eleven
• 30:45
Speaker 2: years of marriage. I'm believed her representation, Leslie Sloane, told
• 30:53
Speaker 2: people in a statement at the time, divorce is the
• 30:56
Speaker 2: last thing Shannon wanted. Unfortunately, she felt she was left
• 31:01
Speaker 2: with no other option.
• 31:04
Speaker 4: Okay, what he's trying to do.
• 31:07
Speaker 3: Can I just say to you, you know who wins
• 31:09
Speaker 3: in these cases, not the not the estate of the deceased,
• 31:14
Speaker 3: and not her ex husband.
• 31:16
Speaker 4: The lawyers, that's the wins.
• 31:18
Speaker 3: They're going to argue point after poor, legality over legality,
• 31:24
Speaker 3: and anyone you know, is he supposed to send the money?
• 31:28
Speaker 4: Is he's supposed to Is the divorce supposed to happen?
• 31:30
Speaker 1: The interrupt for one second.
• 31:32
Speaker 2: So she passes before they sell the one point five
• 31:37
Speaker 2: million dollar home in Texas. If we divide the proceeds
• 31:41
Speaker 2: with her estate, Okay, she passed, her estate gets happened.
• 31:49
Speaker 1: He gets halp, Is that with this is?
• 31:51
Speaker 3: I mean, last time I checked my legal decree from
• 31:53
  Speaker 3: the law school.
• 31:54
Speaker 4: I intended in Texas.
• 31:57
Speaker 3: I don't know if you go way back up to
• 31:59
Speaker 3: the this whole story began.
• 32:01
Speaker 1: He refused to list it.
• 32:03
Speaker 3: He's contending it was filed in the wrong court and
• 32:07
Speaker 3: the court has no jurisdiction to enforce the terms of
• 32:10
Speaker 3: the agreement. So you know whether or not, I think
• 32:13
Speaker 3: it's all going to be rewound to whether the court
• 32:16
Speaker 3: has jurisdiction, and if they don't have jurisdiction, and if
• 32:21
Speaker 3: they she died inadvertently, you know, she died before everything
• 32:24
Speaker 3: was finalized and then and then filed in the wrong court.
• 32:28
Speaker 4: By the letter of the law, he may inherit everything.
• 32:31
Speaker 4: You know, it's it made just technicality.
• 32:35
Speaker 3: Listen, where I live, A guy just won a quarter
• 32:38
Speaker 3: of a million dollars on it in RhoA on a technicality.
• 32:42
Speaker 2: To make sure a slow year roll dot your eyes
• 32:44
Speaker 2: and cross every tea.
• 32:46
Speaker 4: I'm just saying, it's like, you know what I want
• 32:48
Speaker 4: to do. I want to go. Literally, Dripping Springs is
• 32:50
  Speaker 4: twenty minutes from.
• 32:51
Speaker 3: Where I live, and I wonder why, you know why
• 32:56
Speaker 3: he's refused to list the home. I mean, he's not
• 32:58
Speaker 3: living in it, so but I guess the money would
• 33:01
Speaker 3: go to the estate.
• 33:02
Speaker 1: Your backer pictures like, what is that about?
• 33:06
  Speaker 3: Well, I think I think Susan that if it's I
• 33:11
Speaker 3: think he does not want to honor.
• 33:13
Speaker 4: This is my guest.
• 33:14
Speaker 3: I'm not a lawyer. He doesn't want to honor any
• 33:17
Speaker 3: aspect of the divorce screen because if you honor one
• 33:20
Speaker 3: part of it, you got to honor the rest of it.
• 33:22
Speaker 3: He's saying they have no right to tell him to
• 33:24
Speaker 3: give him back. I don't think he wants him. I
• 33:26
Speaker 3: think he's arguing it again as a point of law.
• 33:28
Speaker 3: And you know, I wanted to go to law school.
• 33:31
Speaker 3: I wish I had gone so I could work on
• 33:32
