- 0:44Speaker 1: Welcomes in a Favorites presented by Trapped Kings. The Crown
- 0:47Speaker 1: is yours. We are an Action Network podcast. I'm Brandon Kravitz,
- 0:51Speaker 1: your host, back at it with the first lady of
- 0:54Speaker 1: the pod, Miss Kendri Middleton. Emerson Latzia is going to
- 0:57Speaker 1: join us. TV dude is going to join us to
- 1:00Speaker 1: talk about the PGA Championship and all the bets that
- 1:04Speaker 1: we plan to place this week in the second major
- 1:08Speaker 1: of the year in the Gulf World. Guys, we have
- 1:11Speaker 1: real live NFL lines out there. Kendra rejoice. I see
- 1:16Speaker 1: five betable games on DraftKings right now as we speak.
- 1:23Speaker 1: It is wonderful.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I can we bitch about something.
- 1:29Speaker 3: I really try not to be negative on this show,
- 1:32Speaker 3: but it's hard not to be. I'm sick of the
- 1:35Speaker 3: Cowboys Giants Week one crab, We're on.
- 1:38Speaker 1: The we're on the same page. I think that it
- 1:40Speaker 1: should be a rule, and I would. I would. I
- 1:43Speaker 1: would even throw the forty nine Ers Rams game that
- 1:46Speaker 1: we're gonna get. I think, isn't that that weird that
- 1:49Speaker 1: the Australia a night but it's actually Friday.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I think that's the Australia game. Stop doing to we're
- 1:55Speaker 2: going to get into this Visherson.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Divisional games abroad suck my balls at NFL.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So I'll take in another to another step with the
- 2:06Speaker 1: divisional stuff. If we are we are debuting the new
- 2:11Speaker 1: season Thursday night, Friday night, Sunday night, those should never
- 2:18Speaker 1: be divisional games. I want unique matchups in those spots,
- 2:24Speaker 1: whatever country we're playing them in. I don't need to
- 2:27Speaker 1: see Cowboys Giants is reserved for you know, the Cowboys
- 2:32Speaker 1: are four and two headed into n Yeah, we're fighting
- 2:36Speaker 1: for division. It's the open of the season. I want
- 2:38Speaker 1: to see the I want to see the Cowboys play
- 2:40Speaker 1: the Chargers, or to give me something you don't see
- 2:44Speaker 1: all the time as a promotion for the league at
- 2:47Speaker 1: the Cowboys in the fucking Giants. I don't need.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I also like, I am not ethnocentric whatsoever, but I
- 2:57Speaker 3: would also like to say it is our our sport.
- 3:00Speaker 3: It is the first time we're getting to watch it
- 3:02Speaker 3: all season. It should be on our soil. I know
- 3:05Speaker 3: that that sounds ethnocentric, however, like it would be if
- 3:09Speaker 3: like the Premier League opened in America, people would light
- 3:14Speaker 3: shit on fucking fire.
- 3:15Speaker 2: We need to we need to bring out the killatine.
- 3:18Speaker 3: We need to be more aggressive and we need to
- 3:20Speaker 3: tell them to fuck off because could you seriously imagine
- 3:23Speaker 3: if this was happening in like the Bundesliga, things would
- 3:26Speaker 3: be on fire, people would die.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I think they light shit on fire no matter what.
- 3:31Speaker 1: But yeah, any if anybody is has credibility to touch
- 3:36Speaker 1: on this, it's you because you are traveling to Africa soon,
- 3:41Speaker 1: so yeah, you're You're a world bound traveler. So I
- 3:46Speaker 1: think if anybody can say that it's it's definitely you
- 3:49Speaker 1: are there.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Get nervous.
- 3:51Speaker 3: I will say, like I'm not by the way I leave.
- 3:54Speaker 3: I'm going to Charlotte this weekend and then i leave
- 3:57Speaker 3: next Saturday and I'm gone for two weeks. Wow, I'm
- 4:02Speaker 3: like getting I like, I'm not an anxious traveler.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I'm well traveled, but like it just.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Is not knowing what to expect.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I think it's like the not knowing what to expect.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I'm not gonna have phone service at all, like nothing.
- 4:15Speaker 3: It's gonna be the first time in my life I'm
- 4:16Speaker 3: going to be like completely off grid because I'm like
- 4:19Speaker 3: that awkward like millennial gen z cut off where like
- 4:22Speaker 3: there was the Internet when I was a kid, so
- 4:25Speaker 3: I've never not been off the grid. That is what
- 4:29Speaker 3: I'm nervous about. I'm literally like downloading sixty second dad
- 4:32Speaker 3: tutorials on how to change a flat tire. Like it's
- 4:36Speaker 3: it's the fact that I could go days without seeing
- 4:38Speaker 3: other people.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I just I like, I'm trying to respect to.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Africa as a continent because I'm a little I'm starting
- 4:44Speaker 3: to be like, just all the medicine and stuff I
- 4:46Speaker 3: have to bring. Half of my suitcase is meds. I
- 4:49Speaker 3: have to go pick up my freaking malaria medicine. After this,
- 4:52Speaker 3: I got to order a mosquito net.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that sounds very intense. I'm not going
- 4:58Speaker 1: I'm not going to actually say bye to you when
- 5:01Speaker 1: you leave because I want to make you more nervous.
- 5:04Speaker 1: But just there in my head, I will.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Be next Thursday will be our z y'all think it
- 5:11Speaker 2: could be.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It could be a Bond Voyage Favorites episode for the
- 5:17Speaker 1: until the end of time.
- 5:18Speaker 3: So you I'm integrating with a tribe for a day.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It's wild. We're gonna need a whole podcast on this
- 5:25Speaker 1: when you get back. So you are our resident social
- 5:28Speaker 1: media guru. Are there any teams out there that are
- 5:30Speaker 1: pre crushing it from a schedule release perspective.
- 5:34Speaker 3: So I know the Chargers are like kind of everyone's
- 5:37Speaker 3: s tier of social media teams. They crush it every
- 5:41Speaker 3: single season. I know that the Chiefs are going viral
- 5:44Speaker 3: right now for their sour dough schedule, which is first
- 5:50Speaker 3: of all Ai Slop. I am not one to come
- 5:53Speaker 3: after a social media team. I'll usually just let you,
- 5:56Speaker 3: you know, soak and whatever you made, because that's I
- 5:58Speaker 3: get that, that's your job. There's a lot of press, sure,
- 6:00Speaker 3: like everyone's gonna make mistakes. But the Chief's millennial ass
- 6:04Speaker 3: Ai Slop sourdough release? What does sourdough have to do
- 6:09Speaker 3: with where you guys live? If this were the forty
- 6:12Speaker 3: nine ers and it wasn't Ai Slop, I'd be like, Okay,
- 6:15Speaker 3: you know what, I get it, Sourdough Sam in San Francisco.
- 6:18Speaker 3: This millennial bull crap that you're trying to do might
- 6:20Speaker 3: be cute. Fine, What the fuck does sourdough have to
- 6:24Speaker 3: do with Kansas City?
- 6:25Speaker 2: Bitch?
- 6:27Speaker 4: I don't.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I don't get it.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I'm not sure I get it either, And I was
- 6:32Speaker 1: I was thumbing through this and originally thought, especially with
- 6:36Speaker 1: that initial picture where they have they have some pulled
- 6:40Speaker 1: pork ribs, they baby back ribs sitting in the there's
- 6:44Speaker 1: like a.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Rocky mountain cloyster.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Sourd though it looks like clip art, like there's a sausage.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Baby clip art.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yeah, so that looked bad. I thought that I was
- 6:54Speaker 1: gonna hate it as I scrolled through until I got
- 6:57Speaker 1: to an actual picture sure of sour dough Sam, who's
- 7:01Speaker 1: the mascot of the San Francisco forty nine ers, And
- 7:04Speaker 1: that got me. I popped for that.
- 7:05Speaker 2: So the only one you can make me.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Laugh with your schedule release three and they said dalai
- 7:12Speaker 1: on there.
- 7:13Speaker 2: The rest of them are ass.
- 7:17Speaker 1: The whole purpose of this is can you just make
- 7:20Speaker 1: me chuckle? And the Chiefs did accomplish that goal? Why
- 7:24Speaker 1: did they get to release their schedule before everybody else?
- 7:27Speaker 3: By the way, it's it's not it's it's not the
- 7:29Speaker 3: it's them just because they don't know the dates of
- 7:32Speaker 3: anything yet. They're just releasing the opponents, which we already know.
- 7:36Speaker 3: My question for you, if we want to laugh, are
- 7:39Speaker 3: you taking the over or the under on half of
- 7:43Speaker 3: the Patriots' opponents Making a rabel Rasini joke in their release,
- 7:48Speaker 3: I'm going to go under. I think that social media
- 7:50Speaker 3: teams are going to be more respectful than we think
- 7:52Speaker 3: they will, even though they should give us what we want.
- 7:56Speaker 1: So the you're setting the line at half, so I
- 7:59Speaker 1: only one to pull that joke out.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I know, I'm saying half of their opponents, So, like
- 8:06Speaker 3: I know, like everything's division, So they should have what
- 8:09Speaker 3: like twelve people they play, You would need seven to hit.
- 8:15Speaker 1: No, I would take the under on that. You too,
- 8:17Speaker 1: But it's gonna happen.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Oh ay, playing the Chargers.
- 8:22Speaker 1: There's going to be Mike Vrabel on a boat in
- 8:26Speaker 1: somebody's schedule. Release guarantee.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Oh that's what I think that there's gonna be multiple Okay,
- 8:31Speaker 3: let's see home opponents. Do they play the Chargers? They
- 8:35Speaker 3: do not play the Chargers. So I will say, do
- 8:39Speaker 3: you think the Dolphins will do it?
- 8:43Speaker 1: You know, Dolphins are in Miami by the water. It
- 8:45Speaker 1: would make sense if they were. I just don't think
- 8:48Speaker 1: they're bold enough right now. They got to kind of
- 8:50Speaker 1: lay low.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I think Seahawks probably do, Jaguars probably do. Oh, they
- 8:55Speaker 3: do play the Chargers. The Chargers for sure are gonna do.
- 8:58Speaker 1: It, no doubt, No, doubt. Well, we're gonna have it.
- 9:02Speaker 1: We're gonna have an entire schedule breakdown for all of
- 9:06Speaker 1: you on Friday. Yes, so no show on just for
- 9:11Speaker 1: housekeeping out there, no show on Thursday. We've got a
- 9:15Speaker 1: full schedule breakdown on Friday, and that's gonna.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Be bus, another club, another club, another bus.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I'm just gonna be slamming win totals. I know that
- 9:27Speaker 1: technically you can do it now, but I want to
- 9:30Speaker 1: know the flow of the schedule. I think that's important
- 9:33Speaker 1: a great well. I also think it's important to talk
- 9:38Speaker 1: to a golf expert if you're gonna talk PGA Championship,
- 9:41Speaker 1: because Kendra and I are not that. So a full
- 9:44Speaker 1: detail of the PGA Championship and the bets that we
- 9:46Speaker 1: need to place heading into the second major of the year.

- 10:53Speaker 1: of the boxes. Emerson, Welcome to the show.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Hey, it's really good to be here. Thanks so much
- 10:58Speaker 5: for asking me. Guys, Kendra, it's really really good to
- 11:02Speaker 5: see you. We're the only Sad Jaguars fans in Boston,
- 11:06Speaker 5: so we text quite a bit during the season. You
- 11:09Speaker 5: look wonderful as always.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Good to see you.
- 11:14Speaker 3: It's crazy that we're both from Jacksonville and wound up here.
- 11:16Speaker 3: I don't know how that happened, and now we're both
- 11:19Speaker 3: in the same field. It's like you, me and Tiffany Chen,
- 11:22Speaker 3: but we're like the only three people up here that
- 11:24Speaker 3: are Frans.
- 11:25Speaker 4: I just got back from there yesterday too.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, I went to visit my folks for
- 11:31Speaker 5: for Mothers Day weekend because yeah, my birthday was on
- 11:33Speaker 5: Mother's Day.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Guys.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Wow, happy so much.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that's so kind of you, guys, But yeah, it was.
- 11:39Speaker 5: Uh, every time I go back, I'm like, yeah, this
- 11:41Speaker 5: is this is Jacksonville.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Man.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Do you think you're retired down there, because I kind
- 11:47Speaker 3: of do. Uh.
- 11:48Speaker 5: If I do, it'll probably be like the Saint Augustine area. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:55Speaker 5: I'm all set like with Jacksonville, and my parents are
- 11:58Speaker 5: now in the Pond Ofvidra area, which is not so
- 12:00Speaker 5: it's not around bags. Nah, they're like you know, in
- 12:04Speaker 5: they're a little retirement community, but there's still a bunch
- 12:06Speaker 5: of like really hot moms. You drive around on golf
- 12:09Speaker 5: cards with their kids and like the drive through at
- 12:12Speaker 5: Starbucks or all these women with their kids and getting
- 12:16Speaker 5: their pink drinks. And it's different out there.
- 12:19Speaker 4: It's quiet. Everything closes at like seven.
- 12:22Speaker 1: That's that's my that's my kind of spot.
- 12:24Speaker 3: You know.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Usually people it works the other way. People go from
- 12:28Speaker 1: from the Northeast down to Florida. You guys have somehow
- 12:33Speaker 1: reverse engineered this action.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I have one question before we move on.
- 12:38Speaker 3: This is how I'm gonna judge you, because I actually
- 12:40Speaker 3: don't know this about you.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Sundeli Er Angies.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Angies, Yes, okay, Angiees Yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 5: I mean, dude, I grew up right on the other
- 12:49Speaker 5: side of the of the inter coastal, so it's like
- 12:51Speaker 5: we just go over the bridge to Angie's.
- 12:53Speaker 4: And I used to work at Beaches car Wash.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Like right across the street from there, and that's where
- 12:58Speaker 5: I learned to drive a stick shift and had drive
- 13:00Speaker 5: the car around like into the tunnel and then and
- 13:04Speaker 5: then I got fired. But that's okay. That was a
- 13:06Speaker 5: great job in high school. And my dad is still disappointed.
- 13:10Speaker 5: I just turned forty two and my dad is still
- 13:11Speaker 5: disappointed in me for being fired.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I would not idiot.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I would be a good host of the favorites if
- 13:20Speaker 1: I didn't ask, how did you get fired from a
- 13:23Speaker 1: car wash.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Well, man, you see, every once in a while there
- 13:30Speaker 5: were like spare quarters under the uh, under the mats
- 13:35Speaker 5: of people's cars, and I'd be like, I mean, dude,
- 13:37Speaker 5: I'm in high school.
- 13:38Speaker 4: I have any money. Yeah, this person isn't he this
- 13:40Speaker 4: this quarter?
- 13:41Speaker 5: So I would take the quarter, and then I was asked, Hey,
- 13:44Speaker 5: did did you take a corner?
- 13:46Speaker 4: And I said, yeah, I took a quarter.
- 13:47Speaker 5: Dude, because there's a Dunkin Donuts right next door and
- 13:50Speaker 5: they just introduced the.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Kolattas and I really want a cool Lotta. Yeah that's awesome.
- 13:56Speaker 4: So uh yeah, I was fired for I'm.
- 13:59Speaker 6: Not going money from a lot of money from stealing
- 14:05Speaker 6: a quarter out of this guy's at the back of
- 14:07Speaker 6: this guy's car, and all I wanted was.
- 14:10Speaker 4: A cool Lota.
- 14:11Speaker 2: That is some Jacksonville shit if I've ever heard.
- 14:14Speaker 4: It, dude, it's ridiculous.
- 14:16Speaker 5: I also got fired by a second job by my
- 14:18Speaker 5: uncle for sleeping on the job. But he worked at
- 14:20Speaker 5: this like packing factory. I had to go and like
- 14:23Speaker 5: pack all the coupons that you get in the mail
- 14:25Speaker 5: and then stuff them in bags and delivered to the
- 14:27Speaker 5: post office. And then one day I made a pillow
- 14:29Speaker 5: out of all of these, you know, bags that were
- 14:32Speaker 5: made of yarn, you know, and hey and uh, I
- 14:38Speaker 5: slept and he walked in, he shook his head, called
- 14:40Speaker 5: me to his office, and fired me. Those were back
- 14:42Speaker 5: to back summers.
- 14:43Speaker 4: By the way. So yeah, my dad was really disappointed.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Not as disappointed as when I told him I wasn't
- 14:49Speaker 5: gonna graduate in four years at UCF.
- 14:52Speaker 1: It's okay, congrats in four years that you see, it's
- 14:56Speaker 1: hat don't feel bad about it.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Oh my god, you're what's the news? Van Wilder like
- 15:03Speaker 4: for life?
- 15:04Speaker 1: Yeah, doctor doctor Kravitz over here. So by the end
- 15:08Speaker 1: of this conversation, we will share with you more than
- 15:11Speaker 1: a couple of quarters for very good cause. We'll get
- 15:13Speaker 1: to that in a bit. We also have PGA championship
- 15:16Speaker 1: bets to get to. But since we've got you, the
- 15:18Speaker 1: Jaguars are obviously the unofficial European NFL team. Not a
- 15:22Speaker 1: surprise that they're going to play a game next year
- 15:24Speaker 1: across the pond, but they're gonna do so against the Texans,
- 15:27Speaker 1: A divisional game across the Atlantic. Does that bother you? Yeah?
- 15:33Speaker 4: I mean it. Since we've started playing games in London,
- 15:39Speaker 4: it has bothered me.
- 15:40Speaker 5: And the reason it bothers me is because, and Kendra
- 15:44Speaker 5: will back me up, we have incredible fans. And why
- 15:48Speaker 5: I think we have such incredible fans, it's because, all right, dude,
- 15:53Speaker 5: I'm forty two. I started going to games at first
- 15:56Speaker 5: season in ninety five. So a lot of people like
- 15:59Speaker 5: my a and starting to like around tendrids age now
- 16:02Speaker 5: even though she's a young and like, everyone's starting to
- 16:05Speaker 5: have like their own families and now they're bringing their
- 16:08Speaker 5: kids to the game, and it's just like we're that
- 16:09Speaker 5: generation that grew up with that team.
- 16:11Speaker 4: The first time is in Jacksonville.
- 16:13Speaker 5: I hate the fact that there is a game taken
- 16:16Speaker 5: from our home fans every year.
- 16:18Speaker 4: And I mean, isn't this year gonna be two games
- 16:21Speaker 4: like over there? Dude?
- 16:23Speaker 5: And I don't know what's gonna happen next year. It's
- 16:25Speaker 5: all it's already yeah, I know. But like in terms
- 16:30Speaker 5: of I've heard, I've seen some reports, maybe heard some
- 16:33Speaker 5: rumblings that they may try to go for like four
- 16:36Speaker 5: straight weeks in London next year and then do like
- 16:39Speaker 5: four straight weeks in like Orlando something like that, like
- 16:43Speaker 5: kind of get weird with the schedule. Because this is
- 16:45Speaker 5: an opportunity for the NFL to get as weird as
- 16:47Speaker 5: possible with a team schedule, because the Jags really don't
- 16:51Speaker 5: have like an actual home because yeah, they're gonna play
- 16:54Speaker 5: most of their home games in Orlando. But yeah, it's
- 16:57Speaker 5: it's a it's a it's a bummer. I get why,
- 17:00Speaker 5: like Con.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Does it because you know, it's it's a business.
- 17:04Speaker 5: Movie makes me ask a ton of money, you know
- 17:06Speaker 5: what I mean, Like it's it's all about the dollar
- 17:09Speaker 5: in the NFL. But yeah, it sucks having a game,
- 17:12Speaker 5: you know, taken from us. But I do know since
- 17:14Speaker 5: we're playing two there, I think this year, I think
- 17:16Speaker 5: that means we get that extra home game. The first
- 17:18Speaker 5: year that our stadium opens in twenty twenty eight, we'll
- 17:22Speaker 5: have nine home games there.
- 17:23Speaker 4: I think.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Do you think that it's gonna be Patriots in London again?
- 17:27Speaker 3: Because if they take that from me and you and
- 17:30Speaker 3: Tiffany and we don't get to host all of our
- 17:33Speaker 3: loved ones in Jacksonville from up here, I am, I'm
- 17:36Speaker 3: gonna be in somebody's walls.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Yeah, Because like right when like the the rumbling started
- 17:42Speaker 5: like happening about which teams are gonna be playing over there,
- 17:46Speaker 5: which we always know the Jackson gonna be playing over there.
- 17:48Speaker 4: For some reason, the Patriots were mentioned like right away, right.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Because they only were two years ago when they had
- 17:53Speaker 3: the Chicago game back to back with the Patriots.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Yeah, and I are the Patriots due for have they
- 18:00Speaker 5: been announced as a London team like this year?
- 18:03Speaker 3: Now? I think that they did Germany a couple of
- 18:05Speaker 3: years ago, if I'm not mistaken, So I think they're
- 18:07Speaker 3: just one of those hoppers.
- 18:08Speaker 4: And and that's supposed to be a home game for US. Correct.
- 18:12Speaker 3: I don't know how it's PAX's is they're both Both
- 18:15Speaker 3: of the games in London for US are home games
- 18:17Speaker 3: this year, and the Patriot game for US.
- 18:20Speaker 4: I didn't know that, So that's even. So that's seven
- 18:23Speaker 4: home games for US.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Then this year at your season ticket price goes to
- 18:29Speaker 3: preseason this year.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Oh my god, it's it's like all right, so it's
- 18:35Speaker 5: a little deeper.
- 18:36Speaker 4: We don't have to go super into it.
- 18:37Speaker 5: But like, how were the Jaguars not able to figure.
- 18:42Speaker 2: This out and pass on the road?
- 18:45Speaker 4: Dude?
- 18:45Speaker 5: Because even when Meg and I were living down in
- 18:49Speaker 5: West Palm before we moved to Boston eleven years ago,
- 18:51Speaker 5: it was like, the Dolphins are doing the big renovation,
- 18:53Speaker 5: they're taking their you know, and it was each season
- 18:56Speaker 5: they would do something major in each offseason and they
- 18:59Speaker 5: were able to just keep playing in that stadium. How
- 19:01Speaker 5: are the Jags not even to figure that out? Or
- 19:05Speaker 5: hear me out, hot, take go across the river to
- 19:08Speaker 5: Bishop Kenney and just build like a shit ton of
- 19:11Speaker 5: temporary stands like around it and have it be the
- 19:15Speaker 5: thirty forty thousand people. It's going to be either way
- 19:17Speaker 5: in the stadium. Okay, I mean, but aren't they I
- 19:22Speaker 5: think they're about to start doing major renovations themselves.
- 19:26Speaker 2: They would wait a year to have an NFL game?
- 19:29Speaker 5: Oh okay, Yeah, I don't know why they why they
- 19:32Speaker 5: wouldn't do that. You know what I kind of wanted
- 19:34Speaker 5: when I heard it thrown out.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I'm an Orlando resident. I work here in this town.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I do local radio in Orlando. So we're all about
- 19:45Speaker 1: the Jags coming here because we the only sniff of
- 19:47Speaker 1: the NFL that we get is the occasional Pro Bowl.
- 19:51Speaker 1: So this is great. But the Daytona five hundred idea.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I did geek out about that a little bit, just
- 19:56Speaker 1: the theater on the track.
- 19:58Speaker 5: The merch be incredible. The people watching is always would
- 20:03Speaker 5: be incredible. I've never been inside to a race there,
- 20:06Speaker 5: but when I was at UCF, we would drive to
- 20:08Speaker 5: Daytona like a quick go, like hour drive whatever it is,
- 20:11Speaker 5: and we would just tailgate. That's it. Biker chicks. Doesn't
- 20:16Speaker 5: matter how old they are, they're biker checks.
- 20:19Speaker 4: And it was.
- 20:20Speaker 5: It was some remarkable times, and there were some really
- 20:23Speaker 5: special women who hold a special place in my heart
- 20:26Speaker 5: to this day.
- 20:26Speaker 4: I don't know where they are.
- 20:27Speaker 5: Most of them were probably dead, but I do remember
- 20:30Speaker 5: them and I think about them frequently.
- 20:32Speaker 1: And uh, I mean no disrespect when I say this.
- 20:35Speaker 1: They definitely don't remember you. I think we were just
- 20:37Speaker 1: one of your one of many.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Was one of one of many that day.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Let's get to the FIGA Championship. It begins this week
- 20:46Speaker 1: a short drive from Philadelphia at uh Aronomic am I
- 20:51Speaker 1: pronouncing this course? Talking about this course?
- 20:54Speaker 4: I think, yeah, I think it's ironom inc.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Another Donalds classic. He always builds the tough ones. What
- 21:02Speaker 1: stands out about this course?
- 21:04Speaker 5: So this is like, this is kind of this is
- 21:07Speaker 5: tough because the last time there was like a major
- 21:11Speaker 5: PGA event there, it was it was twenty eighteen, right,
- 21:15Speaker 5: and then Keegan went like twenty under at the BMW.
- 21:17Speaker 5: But this is only like the fourth major like PGA
- 21:21Speaker 5: Tour event that's been held there, like this century. They
- 21:24Speaker 5: there were two other events ten twenty eleven, then there
- 21:27Speaker 5: was like a senior.
- 21:27Speaker 4: PGA at like some point too.
- 21:29Speaker 5: It's kind of it's a little unknown, and I do
- 21:34Speaker 5: think it's a little bit more wide open like this
- 21:37Speaker 5: week in terms of like who could actually win this thing. Obviously,
- 21:41Speaker 5: like favorites towards the top of the board are going
- 21:43Speaker 5: to be like very popular. It's tough to go against
- 21:45Speaker 5: guys like Scottie Scheffler. But the way the PGA is
- 21:49Speaker 5: likely going to kind of shape this course, I think
- 21:55Speaker 5: they're going to eliminate bombers because what these courses for,
- 21:59Speaker 5: I don't old ross are known for, or like the
- 22:02Speaker 5: scrambling and the strategic play in going into the green
- 22:07Speaker 5: with their approachase the greens because these are all turtleback green.
- 22:10Speaker 5: So it's like you got to land these balls high,
- 22:12Speaker 5: you gotta land these balls soft. You got to toss
- 22:13Speaker 5: darts out there. It's not just about pounding piss missiles like.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Off the tee.
- 22:17Speaker 5: You got to toss darts, and you've got to be
- 22:19Speaker 5: able to roll a good meatball like on the Greens.
- 22:22Speaker 5: So like people who are high on guys like like Bryson,
- 22:25Speaker 5: like I'm not very high on Bryson this week, and
- 22:30Speaker 5: these courses will challenge the shit out of the best
- 22:33Speaker 5: in the world. And I'm not quite sure what that
- 22:36Speaker 5: winning score is going to be. I don't think it's
- 22:38Speaker 5: going to be the twenty under. I think someone could
- 22:40Speaker 5: come out and shoot roll.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Low on like Thursday.
- 22:43Speaker 5: I would probably go more closer to like maybe thirteen
- 22:46Speaker 5: to twelve under, which is interesting because I think there's
- 22:49Speaker 5: a they just a prop that like on Drafting sportsbook
- 22:53Speaker 5: where I forget what the number was. I was texting
- 22:57Speaker 5: with your producer yesterday about it. I think it's to
- 23:00Speaker 5: sixty seven and a half or something. So basically, if
- 23:01Speaker 5: you think it's gonna be like twelve under or higher
- 23:05Speaker 5: or twelve under or lower, so it's gonna.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Be as far as the winning score goes, being.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Yeah, as far as the winning score goes so yeah.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Last year, I know it was a different course with
- 23:17Speaker 1: Quayle Hollow last year, but Scotty won at around that number.
- 23:20Speaker 1: So I don't know if that's but I think we
- 23:23Speaker 1: would be correct me If I'm wrong here, we would
- 23:25Speaker 1: be in dangerous waters if we try and compare last
- 23:29Speaker 1: year's PGA Championship leader board to what we expect this year.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Because it's a different course. You can't copy and paste it.
- 23:35Speaker 5: And that's and that's what's so interesting about like betting majors,
- 23:38Speaker 5: And that's why, like, to me, when it comes to like,
- 23:41Speaker 5: you know, being like the defending champion and stuff, none
- 23:43Speaker 5: of that, none of that really matters, like to me,
- 23:47Speaker 5: I think that I think like the Masters is obviously
- 23:52Speaker 5: the only major that has played on the same course
- 23:54Speaker 5: every year, and especially when these guys haven't been on
- 23:57Speaker 5: this course for for almost a decade. Yeah, that's when
- 24:01Speaker 5: you're not like super familiar with it, and which is
- 24:04Speaker 5: why it's even more important for these practice rounds for
- 24:06Speaker 5: like for this week. So I always tell people, like,
- 24:08Speaker 5: if you're if you're really interested to see how these
- 24:10Speaker 5: guys are gonna end up performing on of course they
- 24:13Speaker 5: haven't seen like in a while, follow a lot of
- 24:15Speaker 5: these big name golf guys and stuff and on Twitter
- 24:19Speaker 5: and see what they're saying as they follow them around,
- 24:20Speaker 5: and like practice rounds and stuff like that, because.
- 24:23Speaker 4: That stuff is those are like little nuggets.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Like you can find because if you see someone who's
- 24:27Speaker 5: really struggling on these turtleback greens or not have it
- 24:30Speaker 5: doesn't have a great like approach game like, that's something
- 24:32Speaker 5: you need.
- 24:33Speaker 4: To factor in.
- 24:34Speaker 3: So I'm a casual golf fan and I feel I know, yeah, yeah,
- 24:40Speaker 3: I was gonna say, I feel like casual golf fans
- 24:42Speaker 3: feel like this is like a two horse race. But
- 24:44Speaker 3: you're telling me that you think that this is more
- 24:46Speaker 3: wide open. Why do you think that this is more
- 24:48Speaker 3: wide open? And who should I be looking at at
- 24:51Speaker 3: longer shots than those two?
- 24:53Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 24:53Speaker 5: Well, you know, Like like I said, I think the
- 24:55Speaker 5: way that the PGA Tour is going to like kind
- 24:59Speaker 5: of this like track out, similar to like how home
- 25:03Speaker 5: teams in the Ryder Cup they get to kind of
- 25:05Speaker 5: determine how they want the course to kind of be
- 25:08Speaker 5: like built out and stuff like that. Like I'm I'm
- 25:11Speaker 5: ignoring a guy like Bryson because I do believe that
- 25:16Speaker 5: his bombing like approach isn't necessarily going to work on
- 25:21Speaker 5: a course like this. A guy like a guy like
- 25:24Speaker 5: Rory is someone who I actually am not going to
- 25:27Speaker 5: like bet to win this to win this thing, Like,
- 25:31Speaker 5: I just don't know if he's gonna be able to
- 25:33Speaker 5: put it all together across all four rounds to win
- 25:36Speaker 5: back to back majors. You know who I going back
- 25:39Speaker 5: to just Bryson real quick, Like the guy Let's see,
- 25:43Speaker 5: I had a stat here he ranked sixty first in
- 25:46Speaker 5: the field and true strokes gained on approaches across like
- 25:48Speaker 5: eight twenty six events, Like that's just not going to
- 25:51Speaker 5: get it done on a course that plays like this
- 25:53Speaker 5: tough and again like rewards, guys who can scramble like
- 25:58Speaker 5: this is about playing like smart golf. You can't just
- 26:01Speaker 5: hit the shit out of the ball and then play
- 26:03Speaker 5: it in from there, like you have to be strategic,
- 26:06Speaker 5: like off the tee and you have to take certain
- 26:09Speaker 5: angles off the tee that'll put you obviously into a
- 26:13Speaker 5: good approach on these greens. And trust me, I'm a
- 26:16Speaker 5: six handicap guys, I know what I'm talking about. I
- 26:19Speaker 5: played Donald ross courses all the time, okay. And I'm
- 26:23Speaker 5: also not high on like guys like Matt Fitzpatrick brooks Kaepka,
- 26:27Speaker 5: Evern brooks Kaopka can be in the field on like
- 26:31Speaker 5: in half of these tournaments right now because of obviously
- 26:33Speaker 5: him coming back from like Live and stuff like that.
- 26:35Speaker 5: But this is a guy who's driving accuracy is not
- 26:38Speaker 5: good one hundred and six and in true strokes gain
- 26:41Speaker 5: he ranks like one hundred and sixteenth. Like obviously, guy
- 26:44Speaker 5: who's won I think three three PGAs just a dude,
- 26:47Speaker 5: I would I would absolutely avoid, you know what I do.
- 26:51Speaker 5: Like something to consider is someone who is aiming to
- 26:57Speaker 5: become a first time major champion. Because I saw this,
- 27:00Speaker 5: like interesting stat, twenty three of the last thirty nine winners,
- 27:04Speaker 5: fifty eight percent broke their major duck when they won
- 27:10Speaker 5: at the PGA, And that's a really impressive number when
- 27:13Speaker 5: you consider this guy's Michelson's surprise second win few years
- 27:17Speaker 5: back at Kiowa. Brooks kept us won three of the
- 27:20Speaker 5: last eight PGAs and then Tiger's would Tiger Woods has
- 27:24Speaker 5: won five of those like forty additions there. So this
- 27:28Speaker 5: tends to be that tournament where a lot of guys
- 27:32Speaker 5: win their first major and many for many of them,
- 27:35Speaker 5: they're only major guys like Beam, Remember Rich Beam, Remember
- 27:40Speaker 5: Sean mckel, Remember why Yang Jason Duffer for crying out
- 27:45Speaker 5: loud like we see guys kind of come out of nowhere,
- 27:47Speaker 5: play their best golf of the PGA Championship for four
- 27:49Speaker 5: rounds and then just disappear.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Why why is that? What do you have a theory
- 27:54Speaker 1: as to why that happens in this particular event.
- 27:58Speaker 4: I don't.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Well.
- 27:59Speaker 5: One one of the reasons is before, before this tournament.
- 28:05Speaker 5: It's another interesting stat too, that a lot of guys
- 28:08Speaker 5: who win the PGA for the first time have one
- 28:13Speaker 5: earlier in the season. Now, a lot of that when
- 28:18Speaker 5: you look at the stats, like going way back, that
- 28:21Speaker 5: was when the PGA was the red Headed step Child
- 28:24Speaker 5: was the fourth and final major of the year, so
- 28:27Speaker 5: the season they had much shit ton more tournaments to win,
- 28:30Speaker 5: you know, leading.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Up to that. Now that list obviously becomes like a
- 28:35Speaker 4: little a little shorter, but.
- 28:38Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just it's it's weird. This has always been
- 28:42Speaker 5: that that weird major that people are just like, all right,
- 28:45Speaker 5: let's just like kind of get through this thing, like
- 28:49Speaker 5: no one ever like really respected it. And then moving
- 28:52Speaker 5: it up to the second tournament of the year has
- 28:54Speaker 5: like people's eyes dialed in like a little.
- 28:56Speaker 4: More to it.
- 28:57Speaker 5: And then you get stories like Scottie Scheffler, you know,
- 29:00Speaker 5: being arrested in Louisville a couple of years ago. Like
- 29:04Speaker 5: we just seem to get really weird stories and also
- 29:07Speaker 5: good like redemption stories that come out of like nowhere
- 29:11Speaker 5: in the PGA Championship.
- 29:12Speaker 4: But this the way that this.
- 29:15Speaker 5: Course is and honor Donald Ross's design, Like it evens
- 29:19Speaker 5: the playing field a little bit because a lot of
- 29:22Speaker 5: these guys relies so much on hitting their drives three
- 29:25Speaker 5: hundred and fifty yards that doesn't matter on a course
- 29:28Speaker 5: like this, So it is an even playing field, like
- 29:31Speaker 5: a little more.
- 29:33Speaker 3: So, what's your strategy going to be for this weekend?
- 29:35Speaker 3: Because I think that that's what I want to know
- 29:37Speaker 3: as someone who is probably gonna casually get in on
- 29:41Speaker 3: some action.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Uh, what guys with you gain strokes on approach? You
- 29:50Speaker 4: do need to be accurate off the tea.
- 29:52Speaker 5: Because there's gonna be a lot of guys who look
- 29:54Speaker 5: off the team and say, all right, maybe I don't
- 29:55Speaker 5: need to hit it like three hundred and fifty yards
- 29:58Speaker 5: off this thing.
- 29:58Speaker 4: Maybe just like a three would or in my case
- 30:01Speaker 4: a two iron. Okay, So I like one, dude, I
- 30:06Speaker 4: really like it. He would become a first time major winner.
- 30:08Speaker 5: Is a guy like Russell Henley, and I think he's
- 30:11Speaker 5: I don't know, the numbers have been changing. I think
- 30:13Speaker 5: for like outright, he's a little further down the board,
- 30:16Speaker 5: maybe like a plus fifty five one hundred. No, where
- 30:20Speaker 5: the hell is he? Where are you?
- 30:22Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 30:22Speaker 1: He is?
- 30:25Speaker 4: There you go, there you go.
- 30:26Speaker 5: So I like a guy like him because he has
- 30:31Speaker 5: this elite tee to green like precision and his touch
- 30:35Speaker 5: around the greens is awesome, and his long odds definitely
- 30:42Speaker 5: stand out to maybe even the casual got better because
- 30:45Speaker 5: he's a proven winner and he's and he's performed really
- 30:49Speaker 5: well in some recent like major championships.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Callmore, Kawak could.
- 30:55Speaker 5: Be looked at as someone and I think he's around
- 30:57Speaker 5: plus four thousand. He played poorly at the Cadillac last week,
- 31:04Speaker 5: but before that had this like.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Five tournament run of top tens.
- 31:07Speaker 5: He's a guy who's known as one of the best,
- 31:11Speaker 5: if not the best.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Iron striker Kendra in the entire world.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Are you worried about an injury.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Though, No, because he's he's played a couple of tournaments
- 31:21Speaker 5: like since then. And let me tell you something as
- 31:24Speaker 5: someone who bet him at the Players our hometown tournament,
- 31:28Speaker 5: Kendra and when he got hurt on the second hole,
- 31:33Speaker 5: I said to myself, I would never bet this son
- 31:36Speaker 5: of a bitch ever again, and then I ended up
- 31:39Speaker 5: betting him again.
- 31:40Speaker 4: A few tournaments after that.
- 31:41Speaker 5: It was interesting because I was at that practice round
- 31:44Speaker 5: of the Masters on Monday, and he wasn't even hitting
- 31:46Speaker 5: off the tee.
- 31:47Speaker 4: He wasn't even hitting from the fairway.
- 31:49Speaker 5: He was walking with this group and he was walking
- 31:51Speaker 5: so gingerly, and he was just chipping and putting.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Like around the green.
- 31:56Speaker 5: I'm like, this guy's broken, He's never gonna do anything again.
- 32:00Speaker 5: But he's also now pacing the field and true strokes
- 32:03Speaker 5: gained on approach and he rings ninth and driving accuracy
- 32:07Speaker 5: and then fourth and tee to greenplay. So the guy
- 32:10Speaker 5: is still and he was having a hell of a season,
- 32:12Speaker 5: and I mean he's won. He won it Pebble. I
- 32:15Speaker 5: think it was like earlier in the year. So he's
- 32:18Speaker 5: another guy because like, I don't know, I don't know
- 32:20Speaker 5: about you guys, and even like even you, Kendra, maybe
- 32:23Speaker 5: the casual golf wach like I'm not really big on betting,
- 32:28Speaker 5: like top of the board. I'm just I'm just not
- 32:30Speaker 5: I wanted to be like a little more fun now.
- 32:32Speaker 5: I started shooting myself in the foot when it was
- 32:35Speaker 5: like Shuffler just kept winning, and I'm like, I'm not
- 32:37Speaker 5: betting you, like you're too good.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Like I don't want to do it.
- 32:40Speaker 5: That's not fun, And I feel like I don't get
- 32:42Speaker 5: any bang for my buck when I do it. But
- 32:45Speaker 5: I don't know about like you guys, if I had
- 32:47Speaker 5: to go somewhere towards the top of the board, I'm
- 32:50Speaker 5: kind of I'm kind of feeling John Raum, right.
- 32:54Speaker 3: I've heard a lot of people say that on podcasts
- 32:55Speaker 3: that I was listening to prepping for this episode. I
- 32:58Speaker 3: was gonna ask you, I want to love Ludwig Oberg.
- 33:04Speaker 3: He did, and he fell apart at TPC, And I
- 33:07Speaker 3: want to know from you, should.
- 33:09Speaker 2: I chase a guy like that?
- 33:10Speaker 3: Or do you think his TPC showing was just the
- 33:13Speaker 3: fact that he plays that core so often?
- 33:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:16Speaker 5: I first off, my wife likes him. Okay, she likes him.
- 33:24Speaker 5: She used to have a crush on Adam Scott. She's
- 33:26Speaker 5: kind of moved on to to Oberg now.
- 33:28Speaker 4: But he's gained.
- 33:30Speaker 1: He kind of looks like a mixture of both of them.
- 33:32Speaker 1: So I can see where body has a tight body.
- 33:38Speaker 4: You're a horny and I love that about you. Okay,
- 33:42Speaker 4: but like, dude, that was that was.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I heard the Ben and Jerry's conversation before we went
- 33:47Speaker 1: live here.
- 33:48Speaker 4: That was okay, okay, good and wear a little pint.
- 33:51Speaker 4: I don't mind that.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Anyway, Continue on with your cherry gar So you take.
- 33:58Speaker 5: He uh man, cherry Garde, I of ice cream? Okay,
- 34:01Speaker 5: any of.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Them be.
- 34:03Speaker 4: So he's so, he's got he's got some. He's got some.
- 34:06Speaker 5: Really good stats at stand out because he's gained true
- 34:09Speaker 5: strokes like across the board including was he's ranked some
- 34:12Speaker 5: reading here he's ranked fourth and true strokes gained tita
- 34:15Speaker 5: green and thirteenth in accuracy while carting four top fives
- 34:19Speaker 5: across the past seven events.
- 34:21Speaker 4: So this is this guy who is who is playing.
- 34:23Speaker 5: Well, and I would not hate to see him. What's
- 34:28Speaker 5: what's his number? Right by the way, I wouldn't hate
- 34:30Speaker 5: to see him.
- 34:31Speaker 2: He's twenty to one.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Okay, all right, Yeah, I would probably. I'd like him
- 34:38Speaker 4: probably more for for like a.
- 34:39Speaker 3: Top ten, like I was gonna say, I'm a top
- 34:41Speaker 3: ten and top five better.
- 34:43Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Outright, his punch ability feels a little bit shaky to me.
- 34:48Speaker 1: He kind of feels like one of those guys TPC.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 34:53Speaker 5: Mean we've seen him, We've seen him compete a little
- 34:55Speaker 5: bit like on like at the Masters.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Like a few times and stupp by dude.
- 35:00Speaker 5: I I totally, I totally agree with you, Like it
- 35:04Speaker 5: does seem like if he is if he has that
- 35:07Speaker 5: whole field at his.
- 35:10Speaker 4: Back come Sunday, like I I don't know, he was.
- 35:16Speaker 5: It was a straight meltdown in out in pod of
- 35:18Speaker 5: Beature Beach, Brandon like that. That was That was tough.
- 35:21Speaker 5: That was tough to see. But I don't know, we
- 35:24Speaker 5: see these guys, see these guys overcome like they're mental hurdles.
- 35:28Speaker 5: I mean it took Rory forever to do that at
- 35:30Speaker 5: the Masters, but I mean, who knows at some point
- 35:33Speaker 5: he's going to absolutely break through. And yeah, this could
- 35:36Speaker 5: based off the way he is playing over the recent
- 35:39Speaker 5: events and those numbers I just gave you guys like
- 35:42Speaker 5: there would be no problem betting them.
- 35:43Speaker 4: But I I I would do.
- 35:45Speaker 5: Like me like my my strategy with golf, it's a
- 35:49Speaker 5: I'm a big live better when it when it comes
- 35:52Speaker 5: to golf, especially because I'm so addicted to that like
- 35:56Speaker 5: first round leader bet and then like second round leader
- 36:00Speaker 5: And it sounds a little chalky, but like if.
- 36:03Speaker 4: You're doing those kind of bets and you're sitting on
- 36:05Speaker 4: your couch, like.
- 36:06Speaker 5: Yeah, you want to go with someone who's off to
- 36:08Speaker 5: like a really hot start, like follow it along, be
- 36:12Speaker 5: watching on like you know, PGA Tour live or that
- 36:14Speaker 5: or that leaderboard and find someone who was absolutely dialed
- 36:18Speaker 5: in and off to like a hot start and ride
- 36:20Speaker 5: the hot hand for those bets.
- 36:22Speaker 1: But I want to follow up on that because that's
- 36:24Speaker 1: an interesting thought. I think a lot of people that
- 36:27Speaker 1: they look at the outright market originally pre flop before
- 36:31Speaker 1: we get going on Thursday, and we all try and
- 36:35Speaker 1: plant our flag, which we will literally do here in
- 36:37Speaker 1: a moment. Yeah, But live betting golf, I think live
- 36:42Speaker 1: betting in general can probably get you into more trouble
- 36:44Speaker 1: than it's worth. For most sports. In golf, it's different
- 36:47Speaker 1: because the field is so big, yeah, and getting off
- 36:51Speaker 1: to a hot start is such an incredible advantage. So
- 36:54Speaker 1: would you rather bet live a lesser known name who's
- 37:00Speaker 1: crushing it? Maybe there are four or five strokes ahead
- 37:03Speaker 1: of the field, Yeah, bet that individual who's who probably
- 37:07Speaker 1: isn't the short shot favorite, they're probably about four or
- 37:10Speaker 1: five spots down the board, or like a Scottie or
- 37:13Speaker 1: Rory who's fifteenth, tenth, they still have some room to
- 37:20Speaker 1: grow in terms of the leader board, but they're in range.
- 37:24Speaker 1: So does that question make sense? Or you have the no,
- 37:27Speaker 1: that's a big name that's in range who's probably at
- 37:30Speaker 1: shorter odds than the individual who's actually leaving the tournament.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Who are you more likely to bet on in that situation?
- 37:36Speaker 5: Because, like, I mean, that's a really good question because
- 37:39Speaker 5: you know, kind of like we just discussed, like with
- 37:42Speaker 5: with Ober, like if you're if you're if you're not
- 37:46Speaker 5: familiar with the position you're in, like leading like a
- 37:50Speaker 5: big ass tournament and you know there are big dogs
- 37:53Speaker 5: behind you, especially with like the last four or five
- 37:57Speaker 5: tournaments that like Scott he's been in where he's finished
- 37:59Speaker 5: like those he toos, those who been on like huge
- 38:02Speaker 5: Sunday charges, and like say you're a middle of the
- 38:05Speaker 5: pack guy, but you're leading a leader board like middle
- 38:07Speaker 5: of the pack guy in terms of like your name,
- 38:11Speaker 5: and you're hearing the roars around the course and you
- 38:13Speaker 5: know that you've got someone like a Rory you've got
- 38:16Speaker 5: someone like a Scottie who's charging up the freaking leader board,
- 38:19Speaker 5: like yeah, dude, like it's it's all, it's all up here.
- 38:22Speaker 4: There are there are nerves.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Like we've seen Rory missed like a two foot butt
- 38:27Speaker 5: on you know, a final hole of these majors. And
- 38:30Speaker 5: he's a guy who's who's a proven winner, he's one
- 38:33Speaker 5: of the best golfers of all time. So I would
- 38:36Speaker 5: I would probably bet both in that situation to be
- 38:40Speaker 5: to be honest with you, i'd sprinkle like a little
- 38:43Speaker 5: bit on on both, but hoping that you know, whichever
- 38:46Speaker 5: one has the longer odds is gonna, you know, win me,
- 38:49Speaker 5: win me the most money there.
- 38:50Speaker 1: But I like a lot of great an answer, do
- 38:54Speaker 1: we have to stop ourselves from Yeah?
- 38:57Speaker 5: From one, I like uh, and I like a lot
- 39:00Speaker 5: when the leader board is like super tight, which kind
- 39:03Speaker 5: of what we saw the last time that a golf
- 39:05Speaker 5: tournament was on this course this week. I mean, you
- 39:07Speaker 5: go back and look at that BMW Championship leader board
- 39:09Speaker 5: when Kegan won at twenty under, there was like keeking
- 39:12Speaker 5: at twenty under.
- 39:13Speaker 4: They're like two or three guys at nineteen under. There
- 39:15Speaker 4: were a few other dudes at eighteen under, guys were
- 39:17Speaker 4: scoring like lights out. I love that shit.
- 39:20Speaker 5: So like at the turn, if all those guys are
- 39:22Speaker 5: kind of on like eleven, you know, twelve eleven, like ten,
- 39:28Speaker 5: they've all made the turn, I'll start sprinkling a little
- 39:30Speaker 5: bit on some dudes who are like maybe two three back,
- 39:33Speaker 5: who I see are a little lower on the day
- 39:35Speaker 5: and have the hotter hand, and hopefully you kind of
- 39:37Speaker 5: you start praying for maybe like a bogie or two
- 39:39Speaker 5: from the guys ahead of them, and keep those guys
- 39:42Speaker 5: just charging up.
- 39:43Speaker 4: I mean, it's it's.
- 39:44Speaker 5: Betting you're taking. You're taking, you're taking a gamble. But like,
- 39:47Speaker 5: golf is the one sport that I will just sit
- 39:49Speaker 5: there and be like, yeah, take all my money, like
- 39:51Speaker 5: I absolutely do not care.
- 39:53Speaker 1: I think what was some of the best advice I
- 39:55Speaker 1: ever got as far as how to bet the sport
- 39:56Speaker 1: is just take a certain whatever whatever unit size you're
- 40:00Speaker 1: willing to go into the tournament with. So it's one unit,
- 40:03Speaker 1: two units, whatever it is for you out there. Everybody's different,
- 40:06Speaker 1: and then just break that down into fractions and don't
- 40:09Speaker 1: don't go past that mark. But put a quarter of
- 40:13Speaker 1: a unit on this guy put half on this guy
- 40:15Speaker 1: and just sort of break it down that way, and
- 40:18Speaker 1: that way you don't overexpose yourself. You're not just firing
- 40:21Speaker 1: at the board, but you do have multiple ways, multiple
- 40:24Speaker 1: outs in terms of winning.
- 40:26Speaker 5: So I mean, that's that's actually that's that's really good advice.
- 40:29Speaker 5: And it goes and like going back to what Kendra
- 40:31Speaker 5: was saying how she likes to do like top ten,
- 40:33Speaker 5: like top five for golf. Dude, I'm such a top
- 40:35Speaker 5: ten top five wore, like I really am.
- 40:37Speaker 4: And then and then it's.
- 40:38Speaker 5: Like, okay, let's get really weird here and let's do
- 40:41Speaker 5: like a five or like a ten leg like you know,
- 40:45Speaker 5: top ten, top twenty parlay. I'll I'll do big top
- 40:49Speaker 5: twenty parlays. And then for a lot of these like majors,
- 40:54Speaker 5: I'll do like a five leg parlay for just like
- 40:59Speaker 5: making the cut like something like that. And I haven't
- 41:01Speaker 5: really like looked at those numbers yet. Wednesday's like a
- 41:05Speaker 5: big day where I'll start.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Hammering away on a lot of those bets.
- 41:07Speaker 5: But I like having some fun with it, like it's fun.
- 41:10Speaker 5: It keeps me engaged too, and there goes all my money.
- 41:14Speaker 5: But yeah, just do like five bucks on those things
- 41:18Speaker 5: like nothing crazy, but if you win, you win a
- 41:19Speaker 5: few hundred bucks.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Well, we are going to plant the flag officially in
- 41:25Speaker 1: a moment at Emerson Latzia is how you can follow
- 41:27Speaker 1: him on Twitter. We appreciate the time. By the way,
- 41:30Speaker 1: you've got a great cause. Well, we love you too.
- 41:33Speaker 1: You've got a great cause that you're supporting as well.
- 41:35Speaker 1: You're taking part in the twenty twenty six New England
- 41:38Speaker 1: Gulf Marathon. It's one hundred holes to fight cancer. Our
- 41:42Speaker 1: co host Stucky just lost his dad to cancer, so
- 41:46Speaker 1: on behalf of the show. I just want you to
- 41:48Speaker 1: know that. And I have not made production aware of
- 41:51Speaker 1: this now, so I'm gonna put him in a corner here.
- 41:53Speaker 1: We're gonna make a Favorites donation in Stuck. He's honor
- 41:57Speaker 1: for your cause and we appreciate what you're doing. Can
- 42:00Speaker 1: you tell the folks out there what it is and
- 42:04Speaker 1: how they can get involved.
- 42:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I really appreciate that. And Kendras soul textow links
- 42:08Speaker 5: so you can make a direct donation.
- 42:09Speaker 4: Don't worry after the show. Yes, just a fifth year.
- 42:13Speaker 5: I'm taking part in a big event called Golf Fights
- 42:15Speaker 5: Cancer and all the teams that play in the field
- 42:19Speaker 5: are all raising money for different charities, and I am
- 42:22Speaker 5: raising money for the fifth straight year for One Mission,
- 42:24Speaker 5: which is a pediatric cancer charity.
- 42:26Speaker 4: It's really awesome.
- 42:27Speaker 5: They do whatever it takes to make lives easy on
- 42:29Speaker 5: kids who are finding cancer, especially like for their families,
- 42:33Speaker 5: because their families are along for this journey. They're in
- 42:36Speaker 5: and out of hospitals, you know, every day throughout the
- 42:39Speaker 5: week during treatment.
- 42:41Speaker 4: And Kendra and maybe even you.
- 42:43Speaker 5: Brandon, like you guys know Jeff how he's a big
- 42:46Speaker 5: writer for Like the Athletic. He's a really really good
- 42:49Speaker 5: friend of mine and it was about five years ago
- 42:52Speaker 5: when we first started this. He's the one who got
- 42:54Speaker 5: me on board because One Mission had helped him throughout
- 42:57Speaker 5: his thyroid cancer treatment and they were there for him.
- 43:01Speaker 5: And I really love Jeff and he's become a really
- 43:03Speaker 5: good friend of mine. He's been there for me through
- 43:05Speaker 5: some through some shitty times, and so I said, yeah, man.
- 43:08Speaker 4: I'll hop on board. I saw that what they were
- 43:10Speaker 4: able to do for him.
- 43:11Speaker 5: I like my friend Jeff when he's alive and not dead,
- 43:14Speaker 5: and so they were able to help keep them alive.
- 43:16Speaker 5: And I've just kind of continued it on and I'm
- 43:19Speaker 5: nearing my goal, which is kind of crazy. I launched
- 43:21Speaker 5: this thing like six days ago. I think I'm in
- 43:23Speaker 5: eighty one percent. My goal was ten thousand dollars, and
- 43:25Speaker 5: so we are, we're getting there. We could come close
- 43:29Speaker 5: to what I raised last year, which was like fourteen grand.
- 43:31Speaker 5: And it's kind of scene, man, Like, you know, I
- 43:34Speaker 5: don't do a lot of nice things, but this is
- 43:37Speaker 5: this is the one thing that I think I do
- 43:39Speaker 5: do that is that is nice because I'm probably never
- 43:42Speaker 5: going to meet a single one of these kids ever
- 43:44Speaker 5: in my life. They have invited me to hospitals to
- 43:46Speaker 5: do events. Schedules just don't work out. Maybe I'll meet one.
- 43:49Speaker 4: But yeah, it's it's.
- 43:52Speaker 5: Cool, man, because you get the letters and you see
- 43:54Speaker 5: the notes from families of like damn, like just that
- 43:58Speaker 5: twenty bucks meant so much to like the family, And
- 44:01Speaker 5: it's like, all right, if you could do something to
- 44:05Speaker 5: just make the world a better place, why the why
- 44:06Speaker 5: the hell not?
- 44:07Speaker 4: Because we can all be assholes a lot.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Well, very well said by you. You certainly can. All right,
- 44:14Speaker 1: let's let's be assholes now and plant our flag on
- 44:19Speaker 1: some PGA championship bets. Kendra we will start with you
- 44:23Speaker 1: come give it to me.
- 44:26Speaker 3: He's gonna hate this because it's chalky, but I think
- 44:30Speaker 3: this is the best number I'm gonna get it at.
- 44:32Speaker 2: It's early enough in the week.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Scotty Top five minus one ten.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Cook it, yeah, yep, I mean wow, that is choked on.
- 44:45Speaker 2: That's the best that number is gonna get. Give it
- 44:46Speaker 2: to me. Cook it. Like I said, I'm a casual.
- 44:48Speaker 2: You can come for me if you want.
- 44:50Speaker 4: So.
- 44:51Speaker 5: Let mean just your quick note on that too. Not
- 44:53Speaker 5: a terrible bet. When you get guys towards the top
- 44:56Speaker 5: of the board, and y'all know this, if they if
- 44:59Speaker 5: they come out and they have a really like iffy
- 45:02Speaker 5: first round, first round and a half, and that number
- 45:06Speaker 5: starts to grow, that's when you hop on it. Because
- 45:08Speaker 5: those guys are so good they could turn their shit
- 45:10Speaker 5: around and go low for on like Saturday, Sunday or
- 45:13Speaker 5: even the back nine like on Friday. So that's always
- 45:16Speaker 5: something to look at too, if you're really into that
- 45:18Speaker 5: kind of stuff.
- 45:19Speaker 1: All right, So we got a Scotty Top five minus
- 45:22Speaker 1: one ten, nice safe, sensible wager Emerson, What about you?
- 45:26Speaker 4: All right?
- 45:27Speaker 5: So I think I'm gonna do an outright and I'm
- 45:30Speaker 5: gonna be weird, and I mentioned them Russell Henley. I
- 45:33Speaker 5: like Russell Henley fifty to one as an outright little
- 45:36Speaker 5: further down the board.
- 45:38Speaker 4: If I had to go so on top of the
- 45:39Speaker 4: board for outright, I'd go John Rahm. And I do
- 45:43Speaker 4: like Xander.
- 45:45Speaker 5: I do like Xander top twenty if that's available, but
- 45:49Speaker 5: I also really like them.
- 45:51Speaker 4: Top ten and can I just mention a couple other things.
- 45:55Speaker 5: Two guys I like that are kind of stupid long shots,
- 45:59Speaker 5: but there are reasons to bet them. Just sprinkle not
- 46:03Speaker 5: then crazy and I'm talking for outrights, or if you
- 46:06Speaker 5: didn't want to be as aggressive, go top ten with them.
- 46:08Speaker 4: Ricky Faller, who I.
- 46:09Speaker 5: Think is plus sixty eight hundred, like this could be
- 46:12Speaker 5: the guy who wins his first major this week. When
- 46:14Speaker 5: we already talked about how many dudes love to do
- 46:16Speaker 5: at the PGA Championship, this guy T eighteen nine and
- 46:20Speaker 5: T two in his last three starts. Those were all
- 46:22Speaker 5: signature events. He's now seventeenth in the field and total
- 46:25Speaker 5: strokes gained over the past three months and fifth in
- 46:27Speaker 5: that metric over the last thirty days.
- 46:29Speaker 4: And then the last one.
- 46:30Speaker 5: I'll say in terms of long shot wild, long shot,
- 46:33Speaker 5: just sprinkle, but I also like him. Top ten Alex
- 46:36Speaker 5: Smalley plus sixteen thousand all right.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Strokes gained Tita Green.
- 46:42Speaker 5: He's twenty first in the field this week over the
- 46:45Speaker 5: past three months. That's better than guys like Bryson, Russell Henley,
- 46:49Speaker 5: who I like outright, Hatton and Lowry.
- 46:52Speaker 4: So I don't mind taking a shot on him contending.
- 46:54Speaker 5: And but again, go go top ten if you really
- 46:57Speaker 5: don't want to be as aggressive.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I thought you were going to go wild. Alex Fitzpatrick
- 47:01Speaker 1: was in our notes one fifty five to one.
- 47:03Speaker 4: Okay, dude, that guy. I was really hoping to watch
- 47:07Speaker 4: him win last week.
- 47:08Speaker 5: And what his brother did for him after they won,
- 47:11Speaker 5: Like was that New Orleans and the team event. His
- 47:14Speaker 5: brother helped him, like get his PGA Tour card. He's
- 47:16Speaker 5: been sick since then.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you could go with both. Fitzpatrick's twenty three to
- 47:20Speaker 1: one for the better one, so that's an option. Also,
- 47:23Speaker 1: my plant the flag is JJ spawn top ten finish
- 47:27Speaker 1: five to one, so plus five hundred on that. He's
- 47:30Speaker 1: a major champion. He finished top five in this event
- 47:32Speaker 1: last year, albeit in a different course, but he's shown
- 47:34Speaker 1: up time and time again, and he's shown that he
- 47:36Speaker 1: can compete with the best of the best. He finished
- 47:39Speaker 1: top twenty five in every event since the Masters, So
- 47:42Speaker 1: it feels like he's trending well in a solid direction
- 47:46Speaker 1: heading in to this major here.
- 47:48Speaker 5: So if I had then I see what we're doing here,
- 47:51Speaker 5: if I had to actually plant my flag on one
- 47:53Speaker 5: of those that I had just mentioned, plant my flag
- 47:57Speaker 5: Xander top ten okay.
- 48:00Speaker 1: And her top ten plus one sixty two for Xander
- 48:03Speaker 1: who is always always hanging around at the end of
- 48:07Speaker 1: these primetime Yeah, top top twenty.
- 48:10Speaker 4: And fifteen of the past sixteen major championship he.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Is arguably the most consistent golfer not named Scottie Scheffler,
- 48:17Speaker 1: and even Scott he's been ott shaky by his standards. Emerson,
- 48:22Speaker 1: she sucks by Yeah, his standards are on a different
- 48:26Speaker 1: planet at Emerson plots he is how you can follow
- 48:29Speaker 1: him on Twitter, go and support his twenty twenty six
- 48:32Speaker 1: New England Golf Marathon event where he's helping to fight cancer.
- 48:36Speaker 1: One hundred holes to fight cancer. Emerson has been an
- 48:39Speaker 1: absolute pleasure chopping it up with you. Enjoy the rest
- 48:42Speaker 1: of your day, my friend.
- 48:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I love you.
- 48:44Speaker 5: Guys, tell Gifford said hello, and to not leak our
- 48:49Speaker 5: text messages back and forth to one another because we
- 48:51Speaker 5: got super.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Weird no promises by Kendra.
- 48:56Speaker 4: I love you le.
- 49:01Speaker 1: And that'll do it for today's episode special Thanks to
