Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: All right, all right, I'm and throw your life from Philly.
- 0:09Speaker 2: It's the number one rated Polly and Tony fourths show.
- 0:13Speaker 2: As always, Polly Fools go here with Tony Fosco and Tony.
- 0:18Speaker 2: A huge first show of twenty twenty five.
- 0:22Speaker 3: You know it all who celebrate, but actually a strange
- 0:26Speaker 3: show we got here, Tony.
- 0:27Speaker 2: You know, we're gonna disagree with people we usually agree with,
- 0:32Speaker 2: and agree with people we usually disagree with.
- 0:35Speaker 3: It's gonna be very confusing, you know. Honestly, I'm not
- 0:39Speaker 3: sure I know what you just said. Just now you
- 0:42Speaker 3: know me neither, just very confusing.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Anyway, We're gonna tell you why we disagree with Nick
- 0:47Speaker 2: Sirianni's decision to bench Saquad Barkley it keeps him from
- 0:50Speaker 2: breaking the rushing record, and why we actually agree with
- 0:54Speaker 2: Eli Manning's Hall of Fame supporters, and also tell you
- 0:58Speaker 2: why Ezekiel Elliott could be about the reset the entire
- 1:01Speaker 2: market for the leaks. But you know, with all this
- 1:05Speaker 2: running back talk, Tony, you know, we decided to invite
- 1:07Speaker 2: on the show the man who holds the single season
- 1:11Speaker 2: rushing record, you know, asterisk Erect Dickison. But that coward
- 1:17Speaker 2: has yet to respond.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Chicken Chicken.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Eric Dickinson was a guest on the show a couple
- 1:24Speaker 2: of years back. You know, people say we treated him rudely.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I don't know what they What are you talking about? Anyway,
- 1:29Speaker 2: he hasn't shown his face since, mostly because we haven't
- 1:32Speaker 2: invited him back. Anyway, We're gonna keep the phone lines
- 1:35Speaker 2: open out with Tony. Give him a ten minutes there,
- 1:39Speaker 2: we'll we'll see if he shows up.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Yep, he better set the rushing record to get to
- 1:43Speaker 3: a phone.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Anyway, on the subject to someone who shouldn't show his
- 1:48Speaker 2: face on this show, one quick matter we got to settle.
- 1:51Speaker 2: We came back from our vacation to find that our
- 1:54Speaker 2: idiot producer over there placed a show in our podcast
- 1:58Speaker 2: feed called.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Producer Jay's What is That?
- 2:02Speaker 2: And as you'd expect, it was absolutely unlistenable. It It
- 2:06Speaker 2: was this podcast he made on his own, of course,
- 2:09Speaker 2: using artificial intelligence.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Probably because he has no intelligence, he needed to borrow
- 2:16Speaker 3: somebody else's.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Well, Oh, I thought the technology was pretty amazing and
- 2:21Speaker 4: worth sharing.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Oh well, I'm going to show you some amazing technology
- 2:27Speaker 2: my machine gun.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah, we've got something worth sharing with you. Around the bullets. Yeah, exactly,
- 2:34Speaker 3: don't ever do that again.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I will delete it.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I would delete the episode if I knew which, but
- 2:39Speaker 2: we're not nerds.
- 2:40Speaker 1: We don't know what to do. Yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Anyway, By the way, they's got clever comebacks, just like
- 2:44Speaker 2: the ones you just heard. That's what Scott is nominated
- 2:47Speaker 2: there for Best Sports Comedy in the Sports Podcast Awards.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Of course we want to last all go vote make
- 2:52Speaker 2: sure we bring home the award again. You can click
- 2:55Speaker 2: the link in the description to vote while you're hitting
- 2:57Speaker 2: like and if you haven't hit, subscribed because do it
- 3:00Speaker 2: right now though.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Anyway, all right, look.
- 3:02Speaker 2: We got a lot to get though, so let's get
- 3:04Speaker 2: right into our top story story. All right, First, out
- 3:09Speaker 2: the gate controversial decision by Nick Siriani.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Uh.
- 3:13Speaker 2: He says he'll probably sit Saquon Barkley this Sunday against
- 3:17Speaker 2: the Giants, even though Barkley just needs one hundred and
- 3:20Speaker 2: one measly rushing yards to break Eric Dickerson's a rushing record. Now,
- 3:24Speaker 2: first of all, this is a poor decision from Sirianni. Tony,
- 3:27Speaker 2: we gotta you know. It must be noted here it's
- 3:30Speaker 2: been about three months since he's shaved his head and
- 3:33Speaker 2: it seems like that might be starting to affect his
- 3:36Speaker 2: brain function.
- 3:36Speaker 3: You know, you know, you have to wonder if those
- 3:39Speaker 3: clogged hair follicles are blocking the nerves from firing and
- 3:43Speaker 3: talking to his brain.
- 3:45Speaker 2: You have to wonder. So it just makes such scientific sense.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And you know, while we usually do agree with ninety
- 3:50Speaker 2: nine of Sirianni's decisions, he's definitely wrong on this one,
- 3:56Speaker 2: is it, he?
- 3:56Speaker 3: Dony yup, Nick, Sirianni needs to remember there laying the giants.
- 4:01Speaker 3: So by my projection, Sequon only needs three carries against
- 4:06Speaker 3: that defense to break the rushing record.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Yep.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Just down the kickoff at the one yard line, handed
- 4:12Speaker 3: to Saquon and boom, ninety nine yards right there. He's
- 4:15Speaker 3: basically done. It could be two carries, really, you.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Know, Tony, I don't want to be controversial here, but
- 4:21Speaker 2: it must be said, even that scientist guy in the wheelchair,
- 4:24Speaker 2: Stephen King, he could rush for one hundred and one
- 4:27Speaker 2: yards against the Giants, no question. I think the NFL
- 4:30Speaker 2: should just go ahead and just give Saquon the rushing
- 4:32Speaker 2: yards and just move on.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Give him the rectly. It would be the right thing to.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Do, absolutely the right thing to do, and he got
- 4:39Speaker 2: to hand it to Saquon.
- 4:40Speaker 1: He's handling this well.
- 4:41Speaker 2: In his locker room press, he was talking about how
- 4:44Speaker 2: he's not going to have a chance to break the record,
- 4:46Speaker 2: and he said, quote, it wasn't in God's plan. But again, Tony,
- 4:52Speaker 2: you know we have to push back here.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Don't we.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, usually I agree with God like ninety
- 4:58Speaker 3: nine point nine nine nine cent of the time. You know,
- 5:01Speaker 3: God made clearly smart moves like making human beings that
- 5:05Speaker 3: was good, and you know, also making the earth that
- 5:09Speaker 3: was good too, and also getting rid of the dinosaurs
- 5:13Speaker 3: that was very smart. But you know this, I gotta say,
- 5:17Speaker 3: I'm questioning God's judgment lately. First there were all the hurricanes,
- 5:23Speaker 3: then the Dodgers winning the World Series, and now this
- 5:27Speaker 3: decision to bench Saquan. I hate to say it, but
- 5:31Speaker 3: it's just really poor formed by God lately. And you know,
- 5:35Speaker 3: God's got that long hair, so you gotta wonder maybe
- 5:38Speaker 3: he needs to shave it to like Nick Sirianni did.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Just staggering theological perspective that Dony. And you know, we
- 5:47Speaker 2: got to say we're not just talking about football here, No,
- 5:50Speaker 2: we're talking about human history exactly.
- 5:54Speaker 3: There's nothing more important than making history. I mean, imagine
- 5:58Speaker 3: if NASA told neil Or Trunk and Buzz light Year
- 6:01Speaker 3: to turn around the Space Shuttle.
- 6:03Speaker 1: And not go to the moon.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Or what if Julius Caesar told Christopher Columbus, sorry, the
- 6:08Speaker 3: trip to America's canceled.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Go home. There'd be no America.
- 6:13Speaker 5: No.
- 6:13Speaker 3: So I think this just shows we need to start
- 6:16Speaker 3: putting history first.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Just terrific historical perspective that Dony.
- 6:21Speaker 2: And you know, I gotta say though, in all of this,
- 6:23Speaker 2: there may be a silver lining here for Sakwon Barkley.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I mean, you know, if he did break the rushing record, well,
- 6:30Speaker 2: he would be on the same list with OJ Simpson.
- 6:33Speaker 1: That's true.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Generally you don't want to be in the same conversation
- 6:36Speaker 2: with OJ. Now you know somebody says, hey, you remind
- 6:40Speaker 2: me of OJ Simpson. Well that's never a good thing,
- 6:42Speaker 2: isn't ever that?
- 6:43Speaker 1: You know what?
- 6:44Speaker 3: That's definitely a silver lining right there.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Absolutely. Yeah.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Well, anyway, the more big running back news the Cowboys
- 6:52Speaker 2: announced they are cutting Ezekiel Elliott so he could clear
- 6:55Speaker 2: waivers and pursue potential opportunities with a playoff team. And well, Tonty,
- 7:00Speaker 2: you broke this down. What do you'll see happening in
- 7:02Speaker 2: Zeke's the future?
- 7:03Speaker 1: This could be big for Zeke.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I've analyzed the market and by my projections, an NFL
- 7:09Speaker 3: team will sign Ezekiel Elliott for negative two point four
- 7:13Speaker 3: million dollars.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Wow, you heard that right.
- 7:17Speaker 3: He'll become the first player in NFL history to pay
- 7:20Speaker 3: a team for a roster spot. This is gonna have
- 7:24Speaker 3: a huge ripple effect that could reset the whole market.
- 7:27Speaker 3: So many decrepit over the hill running backs like Adrian
- 7:31Speaker 3: Peterson or Clinton Portis or even Eric Dickerson could soon
- 7:36Speaker 3: have a strong chance to grab a roster spot.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Well.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Just a huge development here, Tony. And you know, by
- 7:43Speaker 2: the way, people they're saying that Ezekiel Elliott would not
- 7:46Speaker 2: be a good fit for the Eagles. Yeah, at running backs, ach,
- 7:50Speaker 2: but there are a lot of other positions he could play.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I mean, think about it. He could be the water boy,
- 7:55Speaker 2: you know, he could fetch water faster than the average
- 7:59Speaker 2: water boy.
- 7:59Speaker 3: You know, and or food runner again, he could get
- 8:03Speaker 3: to the catering tent and back and a good amount
- 8:06Speaker 3: of time. And you know, also he could be the
- 8:09Speaker 3: fall guy. You know, if a players at a party
- 8:12Speaker 3: getting a little too handsy and maybe starts breaking laws.
- 8:15Speaker 3: That player could say, no, that wasn't me, that was Zeke.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Then Zeke gets arrested, and everything's COPA said.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Everything's COPA said, this great roster analysis that Dony and
- 8:27Speaker 2: Oh Walter more Cowboys and those you know. After the
- 8:30Speaker 2: Eagles smashed the Cowboys forty one to seven on Sunday,
- 8:33Speaker 2: Dallas linebacker MICHAEH. Parsons came out and said, quote, if
- 8:37Speaker 2: you take away the scoreboard, it was about five plays
- 8:42Speaker 2: that decided this game.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Wow.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, Dony, this is one of the rare
- 8:47Speaker 2: times we actually agree with Michael Parsons, don't we absolutely?
- 8:52Speaker 3: You know, I remember Super Bowl twenty eight when the
- 8:54Speaker 3: Cowboys beat the Bills fifty two seventeen, and I said
- 8:58Speaker 3: that game was only this decided by about five or
- 9:01Speaker 3: six plays. There was that touchdown, and then the other touchdown,
- 9:06Speaker 3: and then the other touchdown other than that, and then
- 9:09Speaker 3: there was like three other touchdowns. But if you don't
- 9:12Speaker 3: count those, it was really anyone's game.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Yeah, thirty years later and just still undeniable analysis that
- 9:18Speaker 2: don'ty oh to other big NFL news, The Hall of
- 9:21Speaker 2: Fame nominees were announced, and as expected, Eli Manning is
- 9:25Speaker 2: on the ballot for the first time. Now many people
- 9:28Speaker 2: they're saying he's a lock for the Hall of Fame
- 9:30Speaker 2: because what they say is, you quote, can't tell the
- 9:33Speaker 2: story of the NFL without him, you know, Dony, I
- 9:38Speaker 2: gotta say, I one hundred percent agree with this logic,
- 9:42Speaker 2: don't you don'ty.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Yep, this is the exact argument I make when I
- 9:45Speaker 3: say Randall Cunningham belongs in the Hall of Fame because
- 9:49Speaker 3: you can't tell the story of the NFL without him.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Look at nineteen eighty nine Eagles play the forty nine Ers.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Hall of Famer Joe Montana throws five touchdowns and a
- 9:59Speaker 3: win for the forty nine Ers on their way to
- 10:01Speaker 3: a Super Bowl winning season, against which Eagles QB Randall Cunningham.
- 10:08Speaker 3: You see, you can't tell the story of the NFL
- 10:11Speaker 3: without him.
- 10:12Speaker 1: You can't.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Just a perfect way to prove your point, that Tony,
- 10:15Speaker 2: thank you. Oh one quick NBA story we gotta get doya.
- 10:20Speaker 5: You know.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Lebron James turned forty the other day to say this.
- 10:24Speaker 2: In a surprising quote, he said he could probably play
- 10:27Speaker 2: for at least five to seven more years wow, but
- 10:32Speaker 2: Tony Unfortunately, that's just not gonna cut it, is it?
- 10:35Speaker 3: Yeah? Unfortunately, No, you know, we know this is because
- 10:38Speaker 3: Lebron wants to play with Bronny again. But by my calculations,
- 10:43Speaker 3: Bronni's gonna need at least nine to eleven more years
- 10:46Speaker 3: of development if he wants to make the Lakers roster. However,
- 10:51Speaker 3: if Lebron does get himself traded to the Wizards, then
- 10:55Speaker 3: Bronny could potentially make the team's roster and say, you know,
- 10:59Speaker 3: the year twenty thirty three, so if Lebron can hang
- 11:02Speaker 3: on for eight more years, it could all work out this.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Very sound analysis sound Yeah, you know.
- 11:13Speaker 2: What, Bamans, it's time to open up your Foolscoe bet Oup,
- 11:16Speaker 2: donate what you got for us this week.
- 11:19Speaker 3: It's time for my one hundred percent can't lose bet
- 11:22Speaker 3: of the week. It's Week eighteen and I've got a
- 11:25Speaker 3: hot bet. In the much anticipated Chiefs Broncos game, Couson
- 11:30Speaker 3: Wentz will be starting in place of Patrick Mahomes and
- 11:33Speaker 3: that spells doom for Denver. As we know, Corson Wentz
- 11:37Speaker 3: has a perfect one hundred percent completion percentage on the season,
- 11:42Speaker 3: completing all two of his passes. Based on my projections
- 11:46Speaker 3: from that data, he's gonna go a perfect thirty six
- 11:49Speaker 3: for thirty six, throwing for an NFL record six hundred
- 11:53Speaker 3: and seventy two yards. Take the over eight passing touchdowns. Also,
- 11:58Speaker 3: don't be surprised if he winds up winning the starting
- 12:02Speaker 3: job away from Patrick Mahomes. You can take all that

- 12:34Speaker 2: let's check the phone lines on producer. You see, is
- 12:37Speaker 2: Eric Dickerson.
- 12:38Speaker 5: On the line?
- 12:38Speaker 3: Yes?
- 12:38Speaker 1: Here, he's not on the line. Well, have you tried
- 12:43Speaker 1: him again? Called them? Of course?
- 12:46Speaker 4: Why wouldn't I do that?
- 12:48Speaker 2: Because you suck at your job as you stink anyway,
- 12:50Speaker 2: how about this stony here's what we're gonna do. Uh,
- 12:52Speaker 2: why don't we just give Eric Dickerson a couple more minutes.
- 12:55Speaker 2: We're gonna take a quick break, commercial break. Kid, they'll
- 12:58Speaker 2: come back and the c if he shows up, but
- 13:00Speaker 2: chickens out. All right, we'll be right back. Okay, all right,
- 13:04Speaker 2: we're back. Uh any action back?
- 13:08Speaker 1: Update? Where is he?
- 13:10Speaker 4: Eric?
- 13:10Speaker 1: You there? Hello? No, he's not here.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Oh, well, you're angry. He's angry at us because his
- 13:17Speaker 2: job exactly. Sorry, we apologize for disrupting whatever.
- 13:21Speaker 1: You'reologizing for making you do your job.
- 13:24Speaker 4: He's probably angry because of the way you treated him
- 13:26Speaker 4: the last time.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Spoken like a true whimp.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Yeah, what was wrong with the way we treated him
- 13:32Speaker 2: last time? We're perfectly reasonable.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Look, I could play some clips from the last appearance
- 13:37Speaker 4: and maybe you'll see why he doesn't respond to your
- 13:39Speaker 4: text anymore. Oh it's already only though, because you told
- 13:42Speaker 4: me not to record the video.
- 13:44Speaker 1: That was your fault. Yeah, your job is. We don't
- 13:48Speaker 1: have to tell you how to do your job here.
- 13:50Speaker 1: That's bad producing by you, exactly. Well, why should we
- 13:54Speaker 1: play these clips where they aren't even remember what happened?
- 13:57Speaker 1: How about this?
- 13:58Speaker 3: You people out there, you listen to this, you decide
- 14:00Speaker 3: how yourself.
- 14:01Speaker 2: He's put together listen for yourself. See how we treated
- 14:04Speaker 2: him last time. I thought it was perfectly fine. All right,
- 14:06Speaker 2: play those clips.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Go ahead. You know we mentioned it in your intro.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Let's just get it out of the way.
- 14:12Speaker 2: You never played in a super Bowl, never even really
- 14:15Speaker 2: sniffed the Super Bowl.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Help us out a little here.
- 14:18Speaker 2: What can you tell us about playing in a big
- 14:20Speaker 2: game when you never actually played in a big game.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Well, you know, I think it's more than playing the
- 14:26Speaker 5: super Bowl when you play football. I mean, that's a
- 14:27Speaker 5: team sport and it's not just about one guy trying
- 14:30Speaker 5: to play in a super Bowl.
- 14:31Speaker 3: But right now, look, there are a lot of people
- 14:34Speaker 3: out there who think running backs don't help teams win
- 14:37Speaker 3: Super Bowls, that they actually keep teams from winning Super Bowls.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Do you subscribe to that idea?
- 14:44Speaker 3: And also, do you feel kind of guilty that you
- 14:47Speaker 3: cost the Rams three or four Super Bowl appearances?
- 14:51Speaker 5: Are you so ridiculous? Man?
- 14:53Speaker 1: Absolutely not. Personally, I thought that was a great question.
- 14:58Speaker 5: Without the running game, you couldn't even make it to
- 15:01Speaker 5: the super Bowl. You have to have a running game.
- 15:03Speaker 5: I could tell you guys to know it all, I
- 15:05Speaker 5: mean you the guys that Soma said. I could have
- 15:08Speaker 5: made that catch. Oh I could have read through that hole,
- 15:10Speaker 5: no question. Oh yeah, through that hole. You couldn't have
- 15:13Speaker 5: made that catch.
- 15:14Speaker 2: You go read our scouting report from middle school. Wait
- 15:17Speaker 2: until you'll see you'll change your mind. Now, look, we
- 15:21Speaker 2: all know you broke OJ Simpson's rushing record. You know,
- 15:25Speaker 2: were you ever afraid that OJ might come after you
- 15:27Speaker 2: for that? You know, as payback?
- 15:31Speaker 5: I have to say no, I was never worried about
- 15:33Speaker 5: OJ coming after me. But you know what OJ man
- 15:35Speaker 5: to come after you, guys, I'll tell you that. How
- 15:37Speaker 5: about that? Oh would you be afraid of OJ? No?
- 15:40Speaker 2: I could outrun OJ easy even in his prime.
- 15:43Speaker 3: You know, don't you think that OJ? He might be
- 15:46Speaker 3: angry because he only got fourteen games, and you know
- 15:49Speaker 3: you broke the record in fifteen games, you know, which
- 15:53Speaker 3: might upset a madman like that.
- 15:55Speaker 5: Well, I give you credit.
- 15:56Speaker 1: You did do your homework on that.
- 15:57Speaker 5: I give you credit on that because I always say
- 15:59Speaker 5: that too. So so you sound like you're talking a
- 16:02Speaker 5: little bit more sense right now, are you right? Oh?
- 16:04Speaker 5: What you did in fourteen, I did it in fifteen
- 16:05Speaker 5: and had one extra game to go. So I always
- 16:07Speaker 5: give him that hummute Because that was my favorite player?
- 16:10Speaker 1: Oh he was? He was your favorite player?
- 16:12Speaker 5: OJ is my favorite player? Yes?
- 16:14Speaker 2: And does he still do? Does he still hold that
- 16:16Speaker 2: high regard in your in your estimation?
- 16:19Speaker 3: There?
- 16:19Speaker 5: I still like OJ? I mean I played golf with OJ,
- 16:22Speaker 5: you know, about six months ago. I mean I still
- 16:24Speaker 5: like it. Oh yeah, you know, hey, hey, oh okay?
- 16:26Speaker 1: And how that you know, you know, do you do you?
- 16:29Speaker 1: Come on? You know, I don't know here.
- 16:30Speaker 2: You know, when you're out there playing golf with OJ,
- 16:32Speaker 2: you know, do you ever bring it up?
- 16:35Speaker 1: You know, you want to win a hole?
