Speaker 3: know the special session has been called by the governor

Speaker 3: for September thirtieth legislative interims wrapping up earlier this week
• 1:56
Speaker 3: in Parkersburg. We're going to get into the financier's take
• 1:59
Speaker 3: on both of those plays, more about the tax situation.
• 2:02
Speaker 3: And we're talking with the Senator the other day he said,
• 2:04
Speaker 3: you want to spend some time talking about guns, So
• 2:06
Speaker 3: I said, hey, we can get into that. I got
• 2:08
Speaker 3: some more fallout from the Harris Trump debate from the
• 2:10
Speaker 3: other night to get to. I'll try to get to
• 2:12
Speaker 3: some of the texts I didn't get to on yesterday
• 2:15
Speaker 3: show time permitting and also hopefully another time permitting thing
• 2:20
Speaker 3: or if the schedule works out. We're going to introduce
• 2:21
Speaker 3: you to the newest member of the Venture News team
• 2:24
Speaker 3: working out of our studios here in Charleston. Her name
• 2:26
Speaker 3: is Morgan Pemberton, and well she's working. She's off on
• 2:29
Speaker 3: assignment right now, but she makes it back up the building.
• 2:32
Speaker 3: We're going to introduce you to her. Ripfest opens up
• 2:35
Speaker 3: today and had that Riverfront Park. So obviously we have
• 2:38
Speaker 3: a lot to get to. There are a couple of
• 2:40
Speaker 3: news items I do need to mention before we get
• 2:43
Speaker 3: to our first guest, and there are now and you
• 2:46
Speaker 3: just heard Chris's news report at the top of the hour,
• 2:48
Speaker 3: at least two deaths being reported in Charleston, one early
• 2:51
Speaker 3: this morning outside the Urk Sullivan LifeWay men shelter around
• 2:54
Speaker 3: four point thirty this morning. That story's still developing. Also,
• 2:58
Speaker 3: there was a shooting before nine and the seven hundred
• 3:01
Speaker 3: block of Regency Drive. Little details being released on either
• 3:05
Speaker 3: situation at this point, as one would suspect because it
• 3:08
Speaker 3: is an ongoing investigation. We will cover it on air
• 3:11
Speaker 3: and online throughout the day as details are available. Also,
• 3:15
Speaker 3: the situation with the school threats happening Knawa County, Putnam County,
• 3:19
Speaker 3: all over the state and all over the nation. And
• 3:23
Speaker 3: I don't know what the answer is. My social media feed,
• 3:25
Speaker 3: like yours, are probably filled people saying in many cases
• 3:29
Speaker 3: and some other counties, not sending their kids to school
• 3:31
Speaker 3: until it all gets straightened out. Don't know what that's
• 3:33
Speaker 3: the best plan either, But again I don't have kids.
• 3:36
Speaker 3: So I did make contact though with the Director of
• 3:39
Speaker 3: Homeland Security in the state, Rob Cunningham, earlier this morning.
• 3:42
Speaker 3: Rob is going to be on with us on the
• 3:44
Speaker 3: show one day next week to discuss that. So lot's
• 3:47
Speaker 3: going on in the news, but I want to take
• 3:50
Speaker 3: time to talk about a special event coming up in
• 3:52
Speaker 3: less than two weeks at the Connal Seeming Convention Center.
• 3:55
  Speaker 3: It's called the Chef's Challenge, and it's a fundraiser for
• 3:58
Speaker 3: Covenant House to Charleston. Rihanna or Bree Martin and Tracy
• 4:01
Speaker 3: Chapman with Covenant House and joining us right now. Good morning.
• 4:04
Speaker 3: Rie will start with you, welcome to the show.
• 4:05
Speaker 5: Good morning, David, thank you, thank you for having us
• 4:08
  Speaker 5: this morning.
• 4:09
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. And Tracy is with us
• 4:11
Speaker 3: as well. And Tracy Chapman is the new director of
• 4:16
Speaker 3: the program. Is that right?
• 4:17
Speaker 6: Yes, I'm the program director.
• 4:18
Speaker 3: And this is your first event that you're putting on me.
• 4:20
Speaker 6: My first event. I'm super excited.
• 4:22
Speaker 3: So tell us, Bria, I will go to you what
• 4:24
Speaker 3: exactly is Chef's Challenge? What is this thing?
• 4:27
  Speaker 2: So?
• 4:27
Speaker 5: Chef Challenge, much like you said, Dave, is our annual
• 4:30
Speaker 5: fundraiser for Covenant House, food housing and healthcare. That's what
• 4:36
Speaker 5: we specialize in. But we operate a food pantry out
• 4:39
Speaker 5: of the Covenant House and this is our fourteenth annual
• 4:44
Speaker 5: Chefs Challenge. And what it is pretty much is it's
• 4:47
Speaker 5: so nice, sit down dining style dinner that what we
• 4:51
Speaker 5: like to call local celebrity chefs get together and they
• 4:54
Speaker 5: develop a five course menu. It consists of past or
• 5:00
Speaker 5: dervs and any type of any type of dining item
• 5:05
Speaker 5: or course for the evening, and then we wrap it
• 5:07
Speaker 5: up with some very nice desserts from two of our
• 5:11
Speaker 5: wonderful pastry chefs in the area, Chef Morgan Morrison from
• 5:14
Speaker 5: Rock City and Chef Terry Blevins from a Little Bit
• 5:18
  Speaker 5: of Having Cupcakes.
• 5:19
Speaker 3: And this is happening when and where.
• 5:21
Speaker 5: September twenty fourth at the Charleston Convention Center. Doors will
• 5:25
Speaker 5: open at five point thirty, Dinner will begin at six.
• 5:29
Speaker 3: Okay, And who are some of these celebrity chefs we have?
• 5:32
Speaker 5: So we will have one of the people or the
• 5:35
Speaker 5: group of people that I always like to talk about
• 5:37
Speaker 5: and mention is the culinary students from Carver.
• 5:41
Speaker 3: They do fantastic work up there, absolutely really do.
• 5:43
Speaker 5: Absolutely, So Chef Mandy will bring her set of students
• 5:46
Speaker 5: this year. We'll have Chef Dinnis coming to us from
• 5:49
Speaker 5: Sleepy Hollow. We'll have Chef Evan from Ichibonn. We'll also
• 5:54
Speaker 5: have Chef Betty from Embassy Suites. Then we'll bring in
• 5:58
Speaker 5: Chef Keith Jackson from Black Sheet Burrito. We will have
• 6:03
Speaker 5: of course the infamous James Beard Award winner, infamous Chef
• 6:07
Speaker 5: Paul Smith and Chef Todd will be joining us from
• 6:10
Speaker 5: the Convention Center this year. And then again we'll wrap
• 6:14
Speaker 5: things up with our two pastry chefs.
• 6:16
Speaker 3: It sounds like there's gonna be a lot of great
• 6:18
Speaker 3: food and that is always of interest to me and
• 6:20
Speaker 3: for a great cause. This menu is a make Can
• 6:23
Speaker 3: you give us a little sneak preview? I mean, I
• 6:25
Speaker 3: know you've got a variety of different foods that are
• 6:27
Speaker 3: going to be there, and I know you get the pastries.
• 6:28
Speaker 3: Don't want to give away too much.
• 6:30
Speaker 5: But can you tell us absolutely So this year we
• 6:33
Speaker 5: were exploring somewhat of an Italian theme, so we are
• 6:38
  Speaker 5: taking a tour.
• 6:38
Speaker 3: Of Listen Tony the Taylor if you're listening, sponsor my
• 6:41
Speaker 3: text line. He listens the show every day. Parentsino, this
• 6:44
Speaker 3: is for you, so go ahead.
• 6:46
Speaker 5: Thanks right. So, our culinary students, they will one of
• 6:50
Speaker 5: their courses will be a tomato peach brushetto. They will
• 6:54
Speaker 5: also do a cheesy proscudo strow and then Chef Evan
• 7:00
Speaker 5: from Ichi Bond he will be bringing us a sausage
• 7:02
Speaker 5: reclotta stuffed mushroom with red pesto, and Chef Dennis from
• 7:08
Speaker 5: Sleepy Hollow will be doing a fancy, really fancy caprice
• 7:12
Speaker 5: salad and then Chef Todd he will do the main
• 7:16
Speaker 5: entree course, which is a chicken marsala, and then Chef
• 7:21
Speaker 5: Paul will be bringing the vegetarian marsala with Hernshaw Farms,
• 7:26
Speaker 5: mushrooms and tofu, so it will be a delightful cuisine.
• 7:30
Speaker 5: I am certain. We'll also have some of our desserts.
• 7:34
Speaker 5: Chef Terry will be bringing a mini lemon Cello Tara Massou.
• 7:39
Speaker 5: She's got two desserts, and then Chef Morgan has three.
• 7:43
Speaker 5: One of them that I'm very interested to see and
• 7:46
Speaker 5: taste will be the Italian butterbrickle.
• 7:48
Speaker 3: I'm very excited about it. You had me a butter brickle,
• 7:50
Speaker 3: I believe it or not. I am not a bit
• 7:52
Speaker 3: I love food of all kinds. My listeners know that
• 7:55
Speaker 3: I'm not a necessarily big sweets eater. I prefer the
• 7:58
Speaker 3: meat and the cheese and potatoes. I'll tell you, butterbrickle.
• 8:01
Speaker 3: You had me well, and I can throw down on
• 8:04
  Speaker 3: some buddy.
• 8:04
Speaker 5: We're going to have that because Chef Betty from Embassy
• 8:07
Speaker 5: will be putting together an antiposity platter, so there will
• 8:11
Speaker 5: be meat and cheese all over the place.
• 8:14
Speaker 3: You know, perhaps we should have had them do up
• 8:17
Speaker 3: some samples for us, because I can eat this kind
• 8:19
Speaker 3: of stuff. Right, Ryan's banging his head against the glass
• 8:23
Speaker 3: in the production studio and they right now it all
• 8:25
Speaker 3: sounds great. So where does the money go.
• 8:27
Speaker 5: So the proceeds from this event benefit Covenant House. It's
• 8:31
Speaker 5: non discretionary funding. Most of what we operate is grant funding,
• 8:36
Speaker 5: and those grants come with specific criteria, and if a
• 8:39
Speaker 5: person who comes for assistance does not meet that criteria,
• 8:42
Speaker 5: unfortunately we're not able to help in many cases. And
• 8:45
Speaker 5: so the proceeds that come from this event allow us
• 8:48
Speaker 5: to fill that void and be to be able to
• 8:51
Speaker 5: help someone who may not qualify otherwise. And of course
• 8:54
Speaker 5: we always have we have an honorary chair for the event,
• 8:58
Speaker 5: and so we will be honoring Judge Joanna Tabot this
• 9:02
Speaker 5: year as our honorary chair. And then of course Chef
• 9:06
Speaker 5: Paul he is our spokesperson for a Chef Challenge this year.
• 9:09
Speaker 3: That's awesome. It's good stuff of Dave Allen showing five
• 9:11
Speaker 3: Ady Live is brought to you in part by Mortgan
• 9:13
Speaker 3: and Morgan with more than twenty billion dollars recovered. They
• 9:15
Speaker 3: believe when you're injured, you deserve more. Mortgaan to Morgan
• 9:18
Speaker 3: in America's largest injury law firm at thisnee At this point,
• 9:22
Speaker 3: are you in need of any sponsorships? So, if people
• 9:24
Speaker 3: are listening right now and they can't make it to
• 9:26
Speaker 3: the they would like to contribute, how do they get
• 9:27
Speaker 3: in touch with you and how do they how can
• 9:30
  Speaker 3: they help out?
• 9:30
Speaker 5: Great question, Dave, thank you so much. What they can
• 9:34
Speaker 5: do is a couple of different ways. You can go
• 9:36
Speaker 5: right to our Facebook page and secure a ticket, or
• 9:39
Speaker 5: contact Angela Douglass who is our director of operations, and
• 9:43
Speaker 5: she can set up any type of sponsorship. She can
• 9:45
Speaker 5: email an application, it can be sent straight in. You
• 9:48
Speaker 5: can also buy tickets via, of course Covenant Houses website.
• 9:53
Speaker 5: And on top of that, if you need to stop
• 9:54
Speaker 5: by the building, you're more than welcome. And we're located
• 9:56
Speaker 5: at six hundred Truths Berry Street, right here in the
• 9:58
  Speaker 5: heart of Charleston.
• 9:59
Speaker 3: All right, get the details, the date, the times, whatnot again.
• 10:02
Speaker 5: Absolutely September twenty fourth. Doors will open at five thirty,
• 10:06
Speaker 5: dinner begins at six. We will be partying right at
• 10:10
Speaker 5: the Charleston Convention Center.
• 10:11
Speaker 3: All right, sounds good. Bri and Tracy. I appreciate you
• 10:14
Speaker 3: being here. And Tracy's the newcomer. So this is your friend.

• 10:18
Speaker 3: event you're excited about. What's your background? Tell us about you.
• 10:22
Speaker 6: I actually left the Supreme Court of West Virginia and
• 10:26
Speaker 6: prior to that, the Kenaw County Schools, and my interest
• 10:29
Speaker 6: was in grants and helping a nonprofit and making a difference.
• 10:33

• 13:25
Speaker 3: They have got to win one more game to make
• 13:28
Speaker 3: the playoffs, and I think, if I'm correct on this,
• 13:30
Speaker 3: they have three opportunities to do that. If they win tonight,

Speaker 3: they have two other opportunities. They'll try to have her

Speaker 3: delegate from here in Kana County, Mike Pushkin, will be
• 14:48
Speaker 3: on the show tomorrow as well, and maybe Joe Garrett
• 14:50
Speaker 3: if if the Birds win this game one of three.
• 14:53
Speaker 3: If they win tonight. We're we're gonna have Jill Gearen
• 14:55
Speaker 3: on the show tomorrow. Want to welcome into the show
• 14:58
Speaker 3: now instead of Nance char Eric Tarsent, good morning, Good morning.
• 15:01
Speaker 8: How are you doing, Date?
• 15:01
Speaker 3: I'm doing fine and happy belated birthday. Tuesday was the
• 15:05
  Speaker 3: big day.
• 15:05
  Speaker 8: Oh absolutely, yeah.
• 15:06
Speaker 12: You know, another time around the sun, it's a little
• 15:09
Speaker 12: less younger and dumber.
• 15:10
Speaker 3: So yeah, I guess something about us September babies, because
• 15:13
Speaker 3: mine's coming up here here in a couple of weeks.
• 15:14
Speaker 3: So well, thank you can be the first to tell
• 15:17
Speaker 3: me that I appreciate it.
• 15:18
Speaker 8: That look up to my elder's eye.
• 15:20
Speaker 3: I knew that was Kyle. I got you. I got
• 15:22
Speaker 3: you by two years, Senator. I get you a boy too.
• 15:23
Speaker 3: I get you TOEA and I think by a couple
• 15:25
Speaker 3: of inches of height too. Oh I did that. I
• 15:28
  Speaker 3: did that.
• 15:29
Speaker 8: We've got to be telling the truth on the radio, right, Let's.
• 15:32
Speaker 3: Get right to it.
• 15:33
  Speaker 4: Uh.
• 15:33
Speaker 3: The governor's planning to cut taxes. You know, Senator, no
• 15:37
Speaker 3: one wants to pay taxes. You're a business owner, you're
• 15:39
Speaker 3: an individual, family guy. You know, no one wants to
• 15:42
Speaker 3: pay We've all said that, you and I mentioned in
• 15:44
Speaker 3: the past, but you know, we would all like to
• 15:47
Speaker 3: be able to have a little bit of a lesser
• 15:49
Speaker 3: tax burden. But many people, including yourself, and you've been
• 15:53
Speaker 3: one out there that's really been talking a whole lot
• 15:54
Speaker 3: about this, are just you're saying that the state is
• 15:58
Speaker 3: just not in a position to do what the governor
• 16:01
Speaker 3: wants to do at this point, and without talking way
• 16:04
Speaker 3: over everyone's heads here, including my own, because this is
• 16:07
Speaker 3: not really my strong suit as well. Republicans, some Democrats
• 16:12
Speaker 3: too the legislature a great number, not all, but a
• 16:15
Speaker 3: great number. I just feeling a little bit, a little
• 16:18
Speaker 3: bit of an issue here. Explain what the issue is, Dave.
• 16:21
Speaker 12: You know me well, and yeah, I definitely want to
• 16:22
Speaker 12: cut taxes. Who doesn't want to cut taxes? And I
• 16:25
Speaker 12: think that the well, how we've demonstrated that Republicans want
• 16:29
Speaker 12: to cut taxes, and we put in a plan to eliminate,
• 16:32
Speaker 12: not just reduce, but eliminate the personal income tax. So
• 16:36
Speaker 12: that is a very sophisticated plan when it comes down
• 16:40
Speaker 12: to it, because that's about a two and a half
• 16:41
Speaker 12: billion dollar lift to get rid of the entire personal
• 16:44
Speaker 12: income tax. So with this four percent trigger coming in,
• 16:46
Speaker 12: we're going to get it down it'll be a twenty
• 16:48
Speaker 12: five and a quarter percent reduction in the personal income tax,
• 16:51
Speaker 12: so a quarter of it gone. Since twenty seventeen, we've
• 16:55
Speaker 12: eliminated about a billion dollars in taxes. So the problem
• 17:00
Speaker 12: here is that if you get too aggressive, you got
• 17:02
Speaker 12: to go back and reverse a lot of those things
• 17:05
Speaker 12: that you did. And so, you know, it sounds good
• 17:08
Speaker 12: to say, hey, we're going to knock out another five percent,
• 17:11
Speaker 12: another one hundred and ten hundred and fifteen million dollars
• 17:13
Speaker 12: in taxes. If you go to aggressive too fast, what
• 17:16
Speaker 12: happens is you have to go back and reverse that
• 17:18
Speaker 12: policy in order not to put the state upside down
• 17:22
Speaker 12: for all our obligations. Because every time we pass a bill,
• 17:26
Speaker 12: there's a chance that bill has an expense to it.
• 17:28
Speaker 12: And so you can go out and look five six
• 17:31
Speaker 12: years now, you can even look out two years and
• 17:33
Speaker 12: see that bills we've passed that phase in expenses and
• 17:37
Speaker 12: phase in taxes excuse me, phase in tax reductions. The
• 17:42
Speaker 12: net difference in a couple of years is over six
• 17:44
Speaker 12: hundred million dollars. And so if you go in and
• 17:46
Speaker 12: you take in another one hundred and fifteen million dollars
• 17:49
Speaker 12: on hundred and ten million dollars. You can really put
• 17:51
Speaker 12: us upside down in a situation. You know, there was
• 17:53
Speaker 12: We've had those years.
• 17:54
  Speaker 8: In West Virginia.
• 17:55
Speaker 12: We don't want them again, so we had we are
• 17:58
Speaker 12: progressively eliminating taxation in West Virginia. Just to say something
• 18:03
Speaker 12: that sounds good on the way through. You know, if
• 18:06
Speaker 12: if the government come in and give us a plan
• 18:08
Speaker 12: that reduces those liabilities and not just say hey, if
• 18:12
Speaker 12: we do this, then maybe it goes away. But hard line,
• 18:16
Speaker 12: we're taking this liability off the books. It costs this much,
• 18:19
Speaker 12: so we can reduce taxes for having taken that off.
• 18:22
  Speaker 12: I think you'd find a legislature that's good with that,
• 18:24
Speaker 12: but right now we haven't seen that plan.
• 18:26
Speaker 3: Talking to CENTA Financed chair Eric tar And again, as
• 18:29
Speaker 3: we said at the beginning of the segment, I mean,
• 18:31
Speaker 3: I think everybody would like to live this, would like
• 18:33
Speaker 3: to like to have the elimination of the state income tax.
• 18:35
Speaker 3: Certainly tax reductions. The governor seems to think, and he
• 18:38
Speaker 3: said this on numerous occasions, and I wanted to take
• 18:42
Speaker 3: the governor at his word when he says this, that
• 18:46
Speaker 3: this is what's going to bring people to West Virginia.
• 18:49
Speaker 3: I would say, I think it wouldn't hurt to bring
• 18:53
Speaker 3: people to West Virginia. But there's got to be more
• 18:55
Speaker 3: than just that. Because he points to some other states
• 18:58
Speaker 3: that don't have state income tax, and I agree with him, Yeah,
• 19:01
Speaker 3: that's great. However, there's other things going on in those
• 19:05
Speaker 3: areas other than just the state of income tax. Would
• 19:07
Speaker 3: you agree disagree with that?
• 19:08
Speaker 12: Yeah, Well, what you're saying is not wrong, and what
• 19:10
Speaker 12: the governor said is not wrong, but doing another five
• 19:13
Speaker 12: percent doesn't get you there where you really have to
• 19:16
Speaker 12: get to in order to get feet moving into West Virginia.
• 19:19
Speaker 12: For our taxation policies, a few areas we're not competitive.
• 19:22
Speaker 12: Personal income tax is still one of those. To be
• 19:25
Speaker 12: competitive nationally, we need to be at a fifty percent
• 19:27
Speaker 12: income tax reduction. So you're talking about a one point
• 19:30
Speaker 12: twenty five billion dollars total to get there on just
• 19:33
Speaker 12: personal income tax. Okay, So that billion dollars I was
• 19:36
Speaker 12: talking about that wasn't just personal income tax. It's taxes
• 19:39
Speaker 12: in a lot of different areas that we've reduced. A
• 19:42
Speaker 12: big part of it was personal income tax. So it
• 19:45
Speaker 12: to get there, it really to get there rapidly. We've
• 19:49
Speaker 12: tried that a couple of times House voted it down
• 19:51
Speaker 12: one hundred and nothing. So you have to increase sales
• 19:53
Speaker 12: tax somewhere to offset the personal income tax, which is
• 19:56
Speaker 12: in my strategy, a good plan because about twenty percent
• 19:59
Speaker 12: of our sales tax is paid by people who don't
• 20:01
Speaker 12: live in West Virginia. One hundred percent of income tax
• 20:03
Speaker 12: is paid by people who live in West Virginia and
• 20:05
Speaker 12: work in West Virginia. So you know, there's ways you
• 20:09
Speaker 12: can get there, but politically they're more challenging than the math. Okay,
• 20:13
Speaker 12: so so I do agree with the governor that we
• 20:16
Speaker 12: need to get there. But the problem is every time
• 20:19
Speaker 12: you do a personal income tax reduction until you get
• 20:22
Speaker 12: to a spot to where we are competitive nationally that
• 20:24
Speaker 12: will move people to West Virginia. For having done it
• 20:27
Speaker 12: is that it's more ideo logic.
• 20:32
Speaker 8: Nobody wants to pay it.
• 20:33
Speaker 12: I'd rather spend my money and have government spend it
• 20:35
Speaker 12: every single day of the week. And so that happens,
• 20:37
Speaker 12: but it happens in such small fractions that it doesn't
• 20:40
Speaker 12: produce the economic impact that a tax.
• 20:43
  Speaker 8: Cut can do.
• 20:44
Speaker 12: And you don't get that until you're at fifty percent
• 20:46
Speaker 12: or greater. For West Virginia because that's where it takes
• 20:49
Speaker 12: to get competitive nationally.
• 20:50
Speaker 3: I got a tax last night from a state senator
• 20:53
Speaker 3: who shall remain nameless, but he knew you were going
• 20:56
Speaker 3: to be on the show today, and he sent me
• 20:57
Speaker 3: a tax last night. And he said, I am a
• 20:59
Speaker 3: say that supports the governor's proposed additional tax cut. If
• 21:02
Speaker 3: there's money, get it out of Charleston back into people's pockets.
• 21:05
Speaker 8: Well, I guess to what I just said.
• 21:07
Speaker 12: You know, so if I'd rather spend mone money than
• 21:10
Speaker 12: have Charleston spend it, the problem is you got to
• 21:13
Speaker 12: think long term. If you do that too fast, we're
• 21:16
Speaker 12: going to be in a situation where you're raising taxes,
• 21:18
Speaker 12: because we have. In two years, we got a net
• 21:21
Speaker 12: decrease in revenue available to us by over six hundred
• 21:26
Speaker 12: million dollars. That's from taxes that are not tax from
• 21:30
Speaker 12: tax cuts that phase in, so, for instance, eliminate SoCal
• 21:33
Speaker 12: Security income tax. We just passed that bill this last
• 21:35
Speaker 12: year that phases in over a three year period, so
• 21:38
Speaker 12: it results in a thirty eight million dollars decrease in
• 21:41
Speaker 12: personal income tax collections to the state for having eliminated
• 21:44
Speaker 12: the tax on social security so that's a great thing.
• 21:48
Speaker 12: I'm happy to see we did that, But that phase in,
• 21:50
Speaker 12: so that's a net reduction. Then you've got expenses that
• 21:53
Speaker 12: pop in, and those expenses like third Great Success Act,
• 21:56
Speaker 12: every year, it's another thirty three million dollars more expenses
• 21:59
Speaker 12: that come in to that. If you look at Hope scholarship,
• 22:02
Speaker 12: Hope scholarship in two years is two hundred million dollars
• 22:05
Speaker 12: more than we're spending. That's an expense. So when you
• 22:08
Speaker 12: start looking at that, if we go in and reduce
• 22:11
Speaker 12: the taxes too fast, with those liabilities coming onto those books,
• 22:14
Speaker 12: we won't have the money to pay for those things.
• 22:16
Speaker 12: So then what happens, Well, then you start looking at
• 22:19
Speaker 12: two things, where else can we reduce spending, which there
• 22:22
Speaker 12: are areas that are also very politically difficult that I
• 22:24
Speaker 12: would love to see happen.
• 22:27
Speaker 8: Or you got to go back and raise taxes.
• 22:28
Speaker 12: And when you start raising taxes, we have lost the
• 22:32
Speaker 12: path to eliminating personal income tax. So for that, Senator,
• 22:35
Speaker 12: if you really don't want to pay more taxes and
• 22:36
Speaker 12: stick to the plan, because there's a system to get there.
• 22:39

• 22:57
Speaker 3: others Senator have said in the past, you've kind of
• 22:59
Speaker 3: pointed to the governor's senatorial run is saying that this
• 23:03
Speaker 3: is campaign fodder. Do you you still go along with that? Yeah?
• 23:06
Speaker 8: I think so. I mean, think about what's happening right now.
• 23:09
Speaker 12: There's there's no fire right now to come into a
• 23:12
Speaker 12: special session to say, hey, we got to eliminate another
• 23:15
Speaker 12: five percent on personal income tax or the world's going
• 23:17
  Speaker 12: to fall apart.
• 23:18
Speaker 8: It wouldn't happen till January. Anyway.
• 23:19
Speaker 12: We were already coming in for interims coming in first
• 23:22
Speaker 12: week of October, and we usually stepped in our special
• 23:25
Speaker 12: sessions over top interim, so you don't have to pay
• 23:27
Speaker 12: extra dollars out there for eBoy coming in Charleston. So
• 23:30
Speaker 12: to come in and act like this is urgent to
• 23:35
Speaker 12: come in and tell the public that there was these
• 23:37
Speaker 12: conversations over the weekend with the legislative leadership that said, hey,
• 23:40
Speaker 12: this is the day we need to come in when
• 23:41
Speaker 12: we had no discussions. I mean, it makes me wonder
• 23:45
Speaker 12: why saying it so, and the guy's running for you,
• 23:48
Speaker 12: a senate soul, I would assume it's campaign fodder.
• 23:51
Speaker 3: He did announce, as you said, we already had I
• 23:53
Speaker 3: gues see interim schedule for October, but he did announce
• 23:55
Speaker 3: that the special session will be in September thirtieth. What
• 23:58
Speaker 3: do you expect to see from that?
• 23:59
Speaker 12: Well, ones that we normally have these special sessions throughout
• 24:02
Speaker 12: the year to handle the business of the state. I mean,
• 24:04
Speaker 12: because there's things that come up, you have to fund
• 24:06
Speaker 12: this or that you have, there's things you might miss
• 24:09
Speaker 12: and because it's I mean, we're we handle twenty billion
• 24:11
Speaker 12: dollars in spending and so sometimes you'll pass legislation and
• 24:15
Speaker 12: you might be two or three million off here or there.
• 24:17
Speaker 12: There's type of things and you just miss it. And
• 24:18
Speaker 12: for instance, like pay raises or type things, because you'll
• 24:20
Speaker 12: do pay raise in a certain area and then not
• 24:23
Speaker 12: realize you have two different types of revenue that fund
• 24:26
Speaker 12: the employees in there, and you might have to come
• 24:27
Speaker 12: back in. Okay, Hey, there's four hundred thousand dollars we
• 24:30
Speaker 12: missed here. We need to run usupplement, do that those
• 24:33
Speaker 12: type of things of the state. So you have a
• 24:35
Speaker 12: lot of those type of things that we do in
• 24:36
  Speaker 12: those special sessions.
• 24:37
Speaker 2: We need to do that.
• 24:39
Speaker 12: I think we're probably going to be discussing these the
• 24:41
Speaker 12: governor's tax coming. That's why he's called us in. So
• 24:43
Speaker 12: I expect he's probably going to put a bill on
• 24:45
Speaker 12: there of some sort about this an idea for tax reduction,
• 24:50
Speaker 12: and I hope, I hope he comes up with something
• 24:51
Speaker 12: completely creative. If he can come up with something completely
• 24:54
Speaker 12: creative and come there and say, here's where we're going
• 24:56
Speaker 12: to take one hundred and ten millione hundred and fifteen
• 24:59
Speaker 12: million dollars of life ability, that it's forward looking off
• 25:01
Speaker 12: the books, so we can swap it out. I think
• 25:03
Speaker 12: you're going to see us looking at it. But if
• 25:05
  Speaker 12: he does not do that, I think it's it's it's
• 25:08
Speaker 12: the bill is gonna be persigned on grata because I
• 25:12
Speaker 12: think that we we understand very well that we have
• 25:14
Speaker 12: a path eliminating these taxes, and you can screw it up.
• 25:17
Speaker 12: It's fragile. So I think that those are things. Uh,
• 25:21
Speaker 12: there may be a couple of bills. He's talked about childcare,
• 25:25
Speaker 12: tax credit, those type things, you know, So where I
• 25:27
Speaker 12: think there'll be probably some discussions around childcare.
• 25:32
Speaker 8: We've been having some a lot of long.
• 25:33
Speaker 3: There's a desperate need. Senator, I think that you would
• 25:35
Speaker 3: you would agree with that there's a desperate need to
• 25:37
Speaker 3: do something or at least have the conversation about various
• 25:41
Speaker 3: childcare child welfare issues in the sate of West Virginia.
• 25:44
Speaker 12: Yeah, I say, I think there's areas where there are
• 25:48
Speaker 12: so I mean and when I say that, I think
• 25:49
Speaker 12: there's probably our childcare deserts within the state. The ones
• 25:53
Speaker 12: that are coming out and really calling a childcare crisis
• 25:56
Speaker 12: are primarily the people get paid provide childcare. I haven't
• 25:59
Speaker 12: had a parent come to me yet and say, hey,
• 26:01
  Speaker 12: we've got a childcare crisis. That's that's come and said
• 26:04
Speaker 12: that to me. So anytime you want to try to
• 26:07
Speaker 12: get something done, you try to create an emergency.
• 26:09
  Speaker 8: So I don't know.
• 26:10
Speaker 12: So one of the things that we've been doing is
• 26:12
Speaker 12: we have a staff of people that are looking at
• 26:15
Speaker 12: how do we pay for childcare? Where do we pay
• 26:17
Speaker 12: it from what do we get from having paid for it?
• 26:20
Speaker 12: Because what this is that the federal government has done
• 26:22
Speaker 12: is they've expanded entitlement to people who are already receiving
• 26:27
Speaker 12: entitlements that pays more for child care for that. So
• 26:30
Speaker 12: what in the past four years, we have spent two
• 26:34
Speaker 12: hundred and forty million dollars more on childcare in West
• 26:37
Speaker 12: Virginia under the guys that it improves workforce participation. Our
• 26:42
Speaker 12: workforce participation has went down in those four years. So
• 26:46
Speaker 12: for having spent another sixty million dollars a year on childcare,
• 26:49
Speaker 12: workforce participation has went down. So to me, it bears
• 26:54
Speaker 12: looking into it. Says to Okay, what are the other
• 26:56
Speaker 12: things that affect the access to childcare besides throwing money
• 27:00
Speaker 12: at it? Because it's very apparent throwing money at it
• 27:02
  Speaker 12: hasn't done anything.
• 27:04
Speaker 3: Texas Dave asked Senator tar where had they been getting
• 27:06
Speaker 3: their money for their budget? Have they been getting any
• 27:08
Speaker 3: money from the feds?
• 27:10
  Speaker 13: Oh?
• 27:10
Speaker 8: Yeah, absolutely, and that's that's not for the budget, not
• 27:12
Speaker 8: per se. So one of the things that.
• 27:15
Speaker 12: I'm a fan of using a tax dollar four is
• 27:20
Speaker 12: rebuilding West Virginia's infrastructure, sewer, water, roads, broadband those type things,
• 27:24
Speaker 12: access to those and so there's a lot of federal
• 27:28
Speaker 12: matches out there for these different things, and it might
• 27:30
Speaker 12: be one to two all the way to one to nine.
• 27:32
Speaker 12: In other words, we go in and spend ten dollars
• 27:34
Speaker 12: in the government, come back and reimburse us nine of
• 27:36
Speaker 12: those ten the federal government. So there's plans out there
• 27:40
Speaker 12: that are available for us that are time limited, and
• 27:44
Speaker 12: so it becomes important too that when we do have
• 27:47
Speaker 12: money available to us, you can turn your one dollar
• 27:50
Speaker 12: of tax into another nine dollars on top of it
• 27:54
Speaker 12: and go get sewer to your neighborhood, or get water
• 27:57
Speaker 12: to your neighborhood, or pave the road in front of
• 27:59
Speaker 12: your house. So there's some of those things out there.
• 28:02
Speaker 12: So definitely there's been some federal dollars that we've been
• 28:04
Speaker 12: able to access because we have been very judicious in
• 28:08
Speaker 12: our spending in state government, by holding four flat budgets,
• 28:11
Speaker 12: by going in and reducing spending in areas that the
• 28:14
Speaker 12: government shouldn't be spending on, by investing in ourselves on
• 28:18
Speaker 12: things that will turn money back into the state for
• 28:20
Speaker 12: having spend a dollar, like for economic development initiatives. When
• 28:24
Speaker 12: you land new cores, when you land Berkshire, when you
• 28:26
Speaker 12: learn land Time, it's there's those things that that's big
• 28:31
Speaker 12: money that comes into westreating trund reinvesting ourselves and so
• 28:34
Speaker 12: then we can take that capital for having done that
• 28:36
Speaker 12: and then match that federal dollar. And we've been doing
• 28:39
Speaker 12: that very well in West Virginia. So much so I think,
• 28:42
Speaker 12: and I've said it many times on your show, is
• 28:43
Speaker 12: that the biggest one of the biggest players I've had
• 28:47
Speaker 12: is serving as a legislator. Is in my time and service,
• 28:50
Speaker 12: I have got to see hope in the faces of
• 28:52
Speaker 12: West Virginia's about what is in front of West Virginia
• 28:56
Speaker 12: and so and that's that's a big part of it
• 28:58
Speaker 12: because we've been handling this.
• 28:59
Speaker 3: Right before I let you go. You and I were
• 29:01
Speaker 3: texting back and ford last week about it. You on
• 29:03
Speaker 3: the show and you said, do you want to talk
• 29:04
  Speaker 3: about guns?
• 29:05
  Speaker 8: Yeah?
• 29:05
Speaker 3: What what's up with you?
• 29:06
Speaker 6: You know I was.
• 29:07
Speaker 12: I was actually on a golf course. So you know,
• 29:09
Speaker 12: my I have a few hobbies that I love to do.
• 29:11
Speaker 12: If I can never get to do them. One of
• 29:13
Speaker 12: them is golfing, one's hunting, just shooting guns and cars.
• 29:16
Speaker 12: Those are those are the things that.
• 29:17
Speaker 3: Really that's that's cars driving, not shooting cars.
• 29:20
  Speaker 2: You know what.
• 29:20
Speaker 8: I got funny story about that. So my dad was
• 29:23
Speaker 8: called a Chevy killer, so.
• 29:24
Speaker 3: A little bit of both, and we'll get into that
• 29:26
  Speaker 3: another time.
• 29:27
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 29:27
Speaker 12: So, but uh, you know, I was golfing and with
• 29:29
Speaker 12: some buddies and they said, hey, man, quit being such
• 29:30
Speaker 12: an egghead when you're on Dave Show and having to
• 29:32
Speaker 12: talk about guns, cars or something, and you know of
• 29:34
Speaker 12: these things that we all get to do it, you know,
• 29:36
Speaker 12: talk about and play with out here.
• 29:37
Speaker 8: So uh so that's what that was about.
• 29:39
Speaker 3: Okay, I thought you were going to get into some
• 29:41
Speaker 3: specific gun issues. You just want to talk guns. You
• 29:43
Speaker 3: need to talk to Chris Lawrence, you know with the
• 29:45
  Speaker 3: Westroeting outdoors.
• 29:46
Speaker 12: You need to go in and talk about my f
• 29:48
Speaker 12: N five O nine with the Hall Sun side on it,
• 29:50
Speaker 12: and you know, it's a talking about that stuff.
• 29:52
Speaker 3: And you and I are. I'm not a gun guy necessarily.
• 29:54
Speaker 3: I'm not anti gun. I'm just not really one of
• 29:56
Speaker 3: my hobbies. But I will say that I'm a car guy.
• 29:58
Speaker 3: And I've got to hook you up with my with
• 30:00
Speaker 3: my brother in law, who's probably listened to the show
• 30:02
Speaker 3: right now, because he's a fellow Corvette guy too. And
• 30:04
  Speaker 3: I know you you've got a VET that you're you're very,
• 30:07
  Speaker 3: very proud of.
• 30:08
Speaker 12: I got a vet I've been working on for years
• 30:10
Speaker 12: because every time I get the engineery build, I find
• 30:12
Speaker 12: a way to break it so well.
• 30:14
Speaker 3: It will get you hooked up with with my with
• 30:15
Speaker 3: my brother in law Robert, and I'll put you on
• 30:17
Speaker 3: Chris's show and you can talk gun sounds that that
• 30:19
Speaker 3: sounds good. Se the financed sharering tar as always, I
• 30:21

• 35:51

• 35:53
Speaker 3: seeing a lot more of her as well. He name
• 35:55
Speaker 3: is Morgan Pemberton. Morgan, good morning, welcome to the team,
• 35:58
Speaker 3: Good morning, Thank you. Tell us about you, Where are
• 36:01
Speaker 3: you from? Where's home?
• 36:02
Speaker 17: I'm originally from Williamstown, West Virginia. Pretty much grew up
• 36:06
Speaker 17: here in Huntingdon, West Virginia. My aunt lives there who
• 36:09
Speaker 17: I currently live with. I went to Marshall Go Ahead,
• 36:12
Speaker 17: graduated in April of this year and really excited to
• 36:16
Speaker 17: just be here and do what I love to do.
• 36:19
Speaker 3: Well, you and another frequent guest of the show, Stevelen
• 36:22
Speaker 3: Allen Adams of Ogden Newspapers Williamstown native as well, you
• 36:25
Speaker 3: ex patriots can have a connection here in Charleston. So
• 36:29
Speaker 3: let me talk about why did you get into this field?
• 36:30
Speaker 3: Because you know, you're a younger person. Seemingly a lot
• 36:33
Speaker 3: of younger people simply aren't going into my chosen profession
• 36:37
Speaker 3: for the last thirty six years. What was it about
• 36:40
Speaker 3: it about the profession in general that interested young Morgan?
• 36:43
Speaker 17: I originally wanted to do like pr and then realize
• 36:47
Speaker 17: it's not something I wanted to do. So when I
• 36:49
Speaker 17: got into college, the radio station WML really helped me
• 36:56
Speaker 17: decide that radio was what I want to specifically do,
• 37:00
Speaker 17: the news and everything. So it was kind of later
• 37:03
Speaker 17: on in my teen years when I realized that this
• 37:06
Speaker 17: is something I wanted to do, what.
• 37:09
Speaker 3: Are you most looking forward to in the job other
• 37:12
Speaker 3: than the getting up at three am? You have told
• 37:15
Speaker 3: you about that, right, they told you that.
• 37:16
Speaker 17: Okay, I think just getting out there doing the stories
• 37:22
Speaker 17: anchoring because, like I said in WML, I anchored the
• 37:25
Speaker 17: five o'clock news there all the for five semesters or
• 37:29
Speaker 17: something like that. So I'm looking forward to that and
• 37:31
Speaker 17: just continuing learning the job and everything.
• 37:35
Speaker 3: Well, you're gonna be working with Chris Lawrence in the morning,
• 37:37
Speaker 3: so you're working with one of the best. And don't
• 37:39
Speaker 3: tell him. I said that, okay, but you're working with
• 37:40
Speaker 3: probably with the best best newscaster and say to West
• 37:43
Speaker 3: Virginia in my opinion, but don't tell him.
• 37:44
  Speaker 2: I said that.
• 37:45
  Speaker 5: Okay.
• 37:46
Speaker 3: I have to say, your debut here, Morgan is a
• 37:48
Speaker 3: little bit more calm than the last person we brought in,
• 37:50
Speaker 3: because that was Aaron Parker. And I don't know if
• 37:52
Speaker 3: you've heard that story or not. He was about to
• 37:54
Speaker 3: do his introductory interview and I had Aaron in the
• 37:58
Speaker 3: very seat that you're in now, and I said to him,
• 38:01
Speaker 3: I right, Aaron, we're ready to go. During the commercial break,
• 38:04
Speaker 3: Jeff Jenkins runs in here with the news that on
• 38:07
Speaker 3: that particular morning, the NBA legend, an all the time
• 38:10
Speaker 3: great mountaineer, Jerry West, had passed away. So basically we
• 38:13
Speaker 3: took Aaron and pushed him out of the way and
• 38:15
Speaker 3: put Jeff in a position and so a little bit
• 38:17
Speaker 3: more calm, so far for you today? All right. So,
• 38:19
Speaker 3: in an effort, Morgan, to get to know you, I've
• 38:21
Speaker 3: prepared a list of questions for you. I need you
• 38:23
Speaker 3: to answer and rapid fire fashion. Are you ready to go?
• 38:27
  Speaker 2: Yes?
• 38:27
Speaker 3: All right? Do you have any pets of so? What
• 38:29
  Speaker 3: are their names?
• 38:30
  Speaker 5: No?
• 38:30
Speaker 3: Nope's all right? Favorite ice cream flavor, chocolate? Name a
• 38:34
Speaker 3: movie or TV show you can practically quote.
• 38:36
Speaker 17: Line for line, Probably Criminal Minds.
• 38:40
Speaker 3: Okay. What's your favorite teacher's name in school?
• 38:44
  Speaker 17: I don't remember half the teachers I had, but she's
• 38:48
Speaker 17: a natural for radio. But probably in college Christopher's Window.
• 38:52
Speaker 3: Okay, knowing well, knowing well, so he wasecad. He's actually
• 38:56
Speaker 3: from my hometown. Name the one musical artist you could
• 38:59
Speaker 3: drive I've across country listening to, Oh gosh, probably Luke Bryan. Okay,
• 39:08
Speaker 3: all right, no, only I'm not gonna hold that against you.
• 39:10
Speaker 3: What's the one place in the world. You've always wanted
• 39:12
Speaker 3: to visit Disney World. Okay, do you have a favorite
• 39:15
  Speaker 3: sports team?
• 39:16
  Speaker 17: No?
• 39:17
Speaker 3: Really, Marshall Thundering Herd. Sure so, I said, talked about
• 39:21
Speaker 3: you having to get up when you do your early
• 39:23
Speaker 3: bird or a night out by nature.
• 39:26
Speaker 17: I like it, well pretending to work. I like to
• 39:28
Speaker 17: get things done early. But if not working, then a
• 39:31
  Speaker 17: night out.
• 39:32
Speaker 3: Okay, what is your final question? What is it that
• 39:36
Speaker 3: you like so much about West Virginia? Because you're a
• 39:37
Speaker 3: young person, You're in a field that not a lot
• 39:40
Speaker 3: of young people are going into. You chose to go
• 39:43
Speaker 3: into this field and to stay in West Virginia. What
• 39:46
Speaker 3: is it that you like about West Virginia so much?
• 39:48
Speaker 17: I mean, I guess coming from a small town because
• 39:50
Speaker 17: Williamstown's a small town. Just the community that I was
• 39:54
Speaker 17: surrounded with, and I kind of want to be that
• 39:56
Speaker 17: person just to you know, give people the new news
• 40:00
Speaker 17: and be part of a community that you know is
• 40:04
Speaker 17: inviting and stuff like that.
• 40:06
Speaker 3: Well, Morgan, we're a very blessed to have you here
• 40:08
Speaker 3: on the team. We appreciate you taking. By the way,
• 40:10
Speaker 3: I got a text from Steven Allen Adams. I screwed
• 40:12
Speaker 3: up royally he is not from Williamstown. He's from the
• 40:16
  Speaker 3: rival Saint Mary's.
• 40:17
  Speaker 8: Yeah, I screwed.
• 40:18
Speaker 3: That's that would be like in my home county down
• 40:20
Speaker 3: the river, getting Logan and Chapmanville mixed up.
• 40:23
  Speaker 2: You know.
• 40:23
Speaker 3: I apologize that I've known Stephen for like one hundred years.
• 40:26
  Speaker 3: I don't know, I've somehow had a little brain fog
• 40:28
Speaker 3: on that. Yeah, he says, Williamstown is our rival. We
• 40:31
Speaker 3: swat bees, is what he says. But he did wish
• 40:33
Speaker 3: your best to luck anyway. So all right, Morgan Peppers
• 40:36
Speaker 3: to welcome to the team. I appreciate you being here.
• 40:38
Speaker 3: Thanks a lot, thank you. All Right, we'll let you
• 40:40
Speaker 3: go on about your because you've already been out working
• 40:42
Speaker 3: this morning, so I know you've got to go put
• 40:44

• 46:36
Speaker 3: fifty eight, Tony the Taylor Text three zero four nine
• 46:38
Speaker 3: three five five zero zero eight. I've talked a little
• 46:41
Speaker 3: bit about a text that I got about a week
• 46:43
Speaker 3: and a half or so ago from one of our
• 46:46
Speaker 3: loyal textures. I don't know who the people are, just
• 46:48
Speaker 3: a text that said they were having some problems as
• 46:51
Speaker 3: they like to monitor I guess emergency situations on scanner
• 46:54
Speaker 3: apps or things of that nature. And I was trying
• 46:56
Speaker 3: to link one with the other with Johnny Rutherford for
• 46:58
Speaker 3: Metro nine to one one, and we're able to get
• 47:00
Speaker 3: that straightened out, we thought. And then early in the show,
• 47:03
Speaker 3: I got a text from someone that said, sir, it's
• 47:06
Speaker 3: not just a broadcastify thing. Multiple platforms are affected. Kanawha
• 47:11
Speaker 3: County public Safety has been off for at least ten days.
• 47:14
Speaker 3: I use it for works as a texture, and it
• 47:16
Speaker 3: would have been beneficial to know beforehand. No I was
• 47:18
Speaker 3: rolling into an active crime scene last night at Greenbrier Gardens.
• 47:22
  Speaker 3: I don't have an answer for that. Here's what I
• 47:24
Speaker 3: do to the texture, though, I text. I actually texted
• 47:28
Speaker 3: your information during one of the other breaks to Johnny
• 47:30
Speaker 3: Rutherford at Metro nine to one one, and hopefully, like
• 47:33
Speaker 3: we did last week, we'll get an answer on the situation.
• 47:35
Speaker 3: To see what the situation is. I think they were
• 47:37
Speaker 3: kind of under the impression that it was just a
• 47:39
Speaker 3: broadcastify situation, but apparently it goes beyond that, according to
• 47:43
Speaker 3: what this texture is saying. So I've got the info
• 47:45
Speaker 3: into Metro nine to one one's John Rutherford. So if
• 47:48
Speaker 3: I get an answer for you, I will certainly let
• 47:51
Speaker 3: you know. Remember on the show yesterday, I made a
• 47:55
Speaker 3: comment about Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris following the debate
• 48:02
Speaker 3: the other night, and a lot of people, and you know,
• 48:03
Speaker 3: I'm like a lot of people when it comes to celebrities.
• 48:07
Speaker 3: They have just as much right to give their opinion
• 48:10
Speaker 3: as anybody else does. My only issue is why should
• 48:12
Speaker 3: we Why should we care more about what Taylor Swift
• 48:15
Speaker 3: or some football player thinks over the guy who's fixing
• 48:18
Speaker 3: your car or whatever. I mean, we're all the same,
• 48:20
Speaker 3: we're all Americans. But I did say that if you
• 48:23
  Speaker 3: don't think that's a big deal, that you're not paying
• 48:27
Speaker 3: attention to how big Taylor Swift truly is. Got some
• 48:29
Speaker 3: information sent to me this morning from a friend of
• 48:33
Speaker 3: mine in DC, and it says, as you predicted on
• 48:36
Speaker 3: your show yesterday, Dave In the first fifteen hours after
• 48:41
Speaker 3: Taylor Swift's post, there were about three hundred and thirty
• 48:44
Speaker 3: eight thousand visitors to the website vote dot gov that
• 48:51
Speaker 3: referred was that were referred from the custom u r
• 48:53
Speaker 3: L created and shared by miss Swift. The group vote
• 48:57
Speaker 3: dot org also said it saw a fifty eight percent
• 49:00
Speaker 3: spike in engagement around the debate and Taylor Swift's endorsements.
• 49:06
Speaker 3: The CEO vote dot org Andrea Haley, said in a
• 49:12
Speaker 3: statement Swift's impact on voter engagement is undeniable. There have
• 49:17
Speaker 3: been over four hundred thousand new voter registration since Taylor
• 49:23
Speaker 3: Swift's posts, over four hundred thousand since that post.
• 49:27
Speaker 15: They're eating the dogs, the people that came in, They're
• 49:30
  Speaker 15: eating the cats.
• 49:32
  Speaker 3: I don't know why that. I don't know where that
• 49:34
Speaker 3: came from. So the debate reaction can to my point
• 49:37
Speaker 3: on the Taylor Swift things is if you just want
• 49:39
Speaker 3: to dismiss it and say, well, that's not a big deal,
• 49:40
Speaker 3: Yeah it was. It was kind of a big deal.
• 49:43
Speaker 3: It really was. But Dave Allen showing five Day Live
• 49:46

• 49:47

• 49:50
Speaker 3: pizza and an eight inch chocolate chip cookie for only
• 49:52
Speaker 3: twenty three ninety nine. So debate reaction continues. Some texts
• 49:56
Speaker 3: I didn't get to yesterday. One of the text referring
• 49:59
Speaker 3: to Vice president and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris as being
• 50:03
Speaker 3: my candidate. I got so many texts here I can't
• 50:06
Speaker 3: call it the exact text, but basically they said, what
• 50:08
Speaker 3: about my candidate, Kamala Harris. I have stated on this
• 50:13
Speaker 3: show before, and I'm not part of the news team,
• 50:15
  Speaker 3: so I don't necessarily have to be objective. I don't
• 50:19
Speaker 3: plan for voting for either Kamala Harris or for Donald Trump.
• 50:23
Speaker 3: I'm not a fan of either candidate. So that may
• 50:26
Speaker 3: be wrong, wrong, wrong headed, as somebody told me the
• 50:29
Speaker 3: other day on that. But if I'm not a fan
• 50:31
Speaker 3: of either candidate, at least I can look myself in
• 50:35
Speaker 3: the mirror at night and say that I'm not responsible.
• 50:40
Speaker 3: But either way, come January, whether Donald Trump is the
• 50:45
Speaker 3: next president of the United States or Kamala Harris is
• 50:48
Speaker 3: the next president of the United States, that person will
• 50:51
Speaker 3: be my president. You've heard me say this before. I
• 50:53
Speaker 3: don't get into this crap I don't get into all
• 50:58
Speaker 3: this crap about that's not my president. Yeah, you're a
• 51:01
Speaker 3: United States citizen. It is your president, whether you like
• 51:03
Speaker 3: it or not, whether it's Harris, whether it's Trump, it
• 51:05
Speaker 3: is your president. Tex says that you're butt hurt from
• 51:10
Speaker 3: all that fence setting. Well, you know it is. It
• 51:15
Speaker 3: is what it is. But as far as the thing
• 51:17
Speaker 3: with the eating, eating the pets, and you know that
• 51:20
Speaker 3: we've talked about before. They're eating the dogs, the people
• 51:24
Speaker 3: that came in, they're eating the cats. It's been debunked
• 51:29
Speaker 3: and debunked in fact one social media. I mean, I
• 51:34
Speaker 3: don't know how more you can debunk it. And you
• 51:37
Speaker 3: can send me all the TikTok videos you want, you
• 51:39
Speaker 3: can send it, send me clips from city council. The
• 51:42
Speaker 3: city of Springfield has said it's not happening. Law enforcement
• 51:46
Speaker 3: have said it. The Republican governor said it isn't happening.
• 51:49
Speaker 3: I don't know what more you want. Matter of fact,
• 51:51
Speaker 3: there was the one story about the supposed animal eating
• 51:58
Speaker 3: that didn't even happen in Springfield. It was actually Anton, Ohio.
• 52:01
Speaker 3: The parents of a kid who was killed by a
• 52:03
Speaker 3: drunk driver by an illegal alien have asked President Trump
• 52:07
Speaker 3: to please stop using their child as political fodder. That
• 52:09
Speaker 3: was their word. Final text says, I'm ashamed of the
• 52:12
Speaker 3: people in my beloved Republican party for nominating yet again
• 52:15
Speaker 3: the disaster that is Donald Trump. Horrible decision that has
