- 2:07the Road to Total Savings US one nineteen in Chabtanville coming up on the show
- 2:13this morning. It kind of took a lot of people by shock on Saturday
- 2:15night when the announcement came out that two of Charleston's most popular restaurants are going
- 2:20to be closing their doors. Talking about the Tidewater Grill and the Chop House.
- 2:24We're going to get into that's a little bit later on. One of
- 2:29the guys who was on this story starting Saturday night of all people, Meetia
- 2:34Robigs Brian Hughes from her friends over at thirteen. He's going to join us
- 2:38talk about that as well as former Charleston Mayor Dandy Jones will be stopping by.
- 2:40We're gonna hear from Ernest Welevins, who is a candidate for a house,
- 2:44and we're also going to talk to Charleston City council Woman Shannon'snadgrass who's standing
- 2:47by. But before we get to that, I do want to mention this.
- 2:50We got a major traffic situation about seven point thirty this morning eastbound traffic
- 2:54coming into the city. This was on the Fort Hill Bridge. There was
- 2:58an accident there. There was a car that actually flipped over on inside.
- 3:01There are reports of injuries, and as of our last report, traffic is
- 3:06still slow moving coming in to downtown Charleston. So if you're traveling on I
- 3:09sixty four this morning, again, even though it happened about seven thirty this
- 3:13morning, I'm told and if it's anything's changed, somebody can text me and
- 3:17or call me let me know. But I'm told that traffic is still being
- 3:21impacted by this accident that happened at about seven thirty this morning on the Fort
- 3:24Hill Bridge east bound coming in to town. So just know that no before
- 3:29you go, as they say. Shannon Snodgrass, Charleston City council Woman of
- 3:34Ward eleven, joins us now via the Big Lee Pigley Wiggly Hotline. Shannon
- 3:37Councilwoman Snodgrass, good morning, welcome to the show. Good morning, Dave,
- 3:40thanks for asking me on, Thanks for being here, and be thankful
- 3:45you're not trying to drive into downtown Charleston this morning, because it's a mess.
- 3:46It's a mess, it's a mess. Let's get let's get right to
- 3:52it. A council woman, you've been very critical of the Good One administration's
- 3:57handling of the whole ty Cunt situation. Everybody was a story by now former
- 4:00chief demoted now two ranks down to corporal and has been on unpaid suspension following
- 4:05the internal investigation into alleged sexual misconduct. Of course, he filed for medical
- 4:11lead before being placed on administrative leave. You're asking for an internal investigation to
- 4:16be made public. Why is that? Well, first of all, I
- 4:23do I think what you said is correct. I have disagreed with this administration
- 4:28from day one with the handling you know, as you wouldcall the harlest case.
- 4:34No one even knew about it until she spoke out the first allegation of
- 4:39sexual misconduct, and we found out that there was a investigation and a three
- 4:46day suspension, even though the top ranking officials didn't even know that he had
- 4:50been suspended. So that was a year and a half later. So I
- 4:55think that was not I think when you're dealing with our top cops, our
- 5:00chief of police, you have no choice but to be open and transparent,
- 5:05and really, why would you not want to be I mean, that's public
- 5:09trust. But now fast forward, we've had this second allegation from an ex
- 5:15police officer Chelsea McCoy, who is now also suing this city, suing Corporal
- 5:19Hunt and suing Sergeant Basford. And I think that after seven months of spending
- 5:26not only paying for two officers to be off, but we paid for an
- 5:30investigation with TAC pay money, I think it's very clear that they can release
- 5:35the finding of the Professional Standards Division. I think it's important to let the
- 5:41public know with all these allegations of misuse of sexual misconduct, first of all,
- 5:47public misuse of public property, misuse of public devices, perhaps altering a
- 5:55polygraph test from how many did he do? You know? And then not
- 6:01tell us what they've found him guilty of? Was it any? Was it
- 6:06all? We know it was egregious. I can't recall, Maybe you can,
- 6:11when was the last time an officer was demoted? When he stepped down
- 6:14as chief on his own accord, not the mayor didn't demoting, He stepped
- 6:17down himself when the second allegation was forthcoming. But he's been demoted twice.
- 6:24We know he's been suspended now twice, So we know that whatever they found
- 6:29was bad. Why can't the public know that? Why can't the public know
- 6:33what policies were breached, whether it be HR policies, and as you know,
- 6:38officers also have a separate policy and procedure, a group of code to
- 6:44conduct they have to follow. So I mean, just simply why not.
- 6:48It's going to come out in a lawsuit, but why not be transparent with
- 6:53your tax payer money? What are we hiding? Why not say it?
- 6:58Talking again with the Charleston's City Council with Shannon Snodgrass, let me be clear
- 7:00a councilwoman, that you aren't the only person asking for details we made public.
- 7:04Kenny Bass of Eywodn's News was actually on the show with Hoppey last week'
- 7:09saying pretty much the same thing. Other council members of well have asked for
- 7:13this to be made public. Well, and you know I've heard the excuse
- 7:17that that it's a personnel policy. Well that's how they tried to shut down
- 7:21the Harlow's case. Okay, now let's talk about that. There's other officers
- 7:27that the public's going to recall. And Dave, you remember this when there
- 7:30was a we didn't know till after the fact, but there was a a
- 7:38disabled female on the West Side that was at a Dollar General and had an
- 7:42altercation in the store and then with an officer wouldn't take her hand out of
- 7:46her pocket, a second officer entered the scene. It's you know, there
- 7:50was a scuffle, but we all knew every detail of that incident and the
- 7:57officer being fired. What is the different front. I can give you another
- 8:01example. There was an officer involved in a throwing a backpack of a homeless
- 8:07man. We know that that's not right and bad and whatever your opinion is
- 8:11of that. And even with the other incident I mentioned, we know it's
- 8:16bad. But these two cases were publicly talked about and the details were revealed,
- 8:24and the discipline was revealed, and this gentleman ty Khunt was our top
- 8:31cop that was appointed by an elected official. I just think it sets a
- 8:37tremendous bar if that's allegations. And all they could come up with was a
- 8:43three day suspension. And as you recall, even more importantly, they want
- 8:48to hide behind personnel matters. But as you recall on speaking a hobby on
- 8:54the Hoppey Kerchiable show, Kevin Baker got on there after the Harlest case came
- 8:58out right before the election, fifteen months after the incident, and Kevin Baker
- 9:05talked about the case, talked about the personnel matter that he got on Hoppy
- 9:11and talked about that. The that mss Harlest and tight Hunt's stories Matt corroborated
- 9:16each other. Therefore, the investigation was closed. And yet Mayor Goodwin selected
- 9:22the penalty or the punishment. Well, why could they talk about that?
- 9:24And now they can't talk about it. It's it's selective enforcement. It's selective
- 9:30what you want to talk about? God, no, go ahead. Well,
- 9:35and just to give you another example, I think that's why they remained
- 9:39so frustrated. I mean, look, I know the same political affiliation.
- 9:43You know, you want to support your mayor, but at the same time,
- 9:46you know, I feel like we're dealing with someone that's that's you know.
- 9:50I hate to use a quote. I'm not much on quotes, but
- 9:54like Harry Houdini, the secret of showmanship is not what you actually do,
- 10:01but it's what you convinced the public that you have done. I mean,
- 10:03for an example, another example of quote, personnel policy. Can't talk about
- 10:09it. You don't want to talk about anything that looks bad. Well,
- 10:13you know, Danny Jones didn't do that to get out in front of the
- 10:15camera and tell you straight up what happened and here's like it or not.
- 10:18And I'm used to that. I spent I think under her under Jones,
- 10:24and now I'm on my second term. I'm one of the longest serving council
- 10:30people currently of this group that we have now. But I just another example
- 10:35would be when we had the big controversy and everybody found out about her hiring
- 10:39her two friends under temporary employment of a temporary agency, and our own subtle
- 10:45sonicer said we weren't following personnel policy, but yet we kept one for four
- 10:50years and never took a day off. Kenny Bass speaking then Kenny Bass,
- 10:54who doesn't bang up job hen Leslie Rubin. You know, at least they
- 10:58report to the media, I mean to the public what goes on. You
- 11:03know, he talked about that case in detail, or that that story,
- 11:07and they said, oh, it's a personal matter, we can't talk about
- 11:11it. Well, you kept one temporary employee that you know was so close
- 11:15to your campaign for four years and the other one for two years, and
- 11:18one we paid for two weeks packed pair money. That's a fact, paid
- 11:22for two weeks while vacation in Hawaii. I have no idea what she did
- 11:26for the city of Charleston while vacationing in Hawaii. I mean, so it
- 11:31just looks a little it's hard, it's hard to swallow. It's a personnel
- 11:37matter. Now you read council Woman Shannon snodgrasses with us again. You read
- 11:41quite a powerful statement council woman on the council Flora during the regular meeting last
- 11:46Monday. Uh, any interest of time, do you care to paraphrase what
- 11:48you said during that meeting? Well, it was rather lengthy, but you
- 11:54know, in general, you know, this administration cam pained on transparency and
- 12:01championing women, and I just I just believe that most of these cases you
- 12:07can see clearly that there is no transparency. We have lost it on council
- 12:13floor. We're not even allowed to ask questions on council floor. But but
- 12:16I talked about you know, and and at the end of the day,
- 12:20I heard Kenny on one of the shows He's correct, it's about these women.
- 12:24And what does this speak to the public if we cannot a protect these
- 12:30women but not give them and and ask our public to trust our law enforcement.
- 12:35And I'm I am aged true supportive law enforcement. You know that too.
- 12:39I've been on your show several times talking about raises, and I mean,
- 12:43I waived the flag flag fire men in blue. But you know,
- 12:48but even they want it's been a black eye to them and they want this
- 12:54done and over. But they want it. They want it open and and
- 12:58and so they don't have to deal with this. And I just basically said
- 13:03that, you know, I stand for transparency, and I thought this administration
- 13:07did and nothing about this. It is transparent. And if this does not
- 13:11fall on the heels of firing someone, when I just gave you examples of
- 13:16other officers that were fired, and I've heard Danny and others say it's very
- 13:20difficult to fire an officer, I guarantee you he could do it. And
- 13:24if you look at nationwide, it's easier now to fire a police officer than
- 13:28any time that I recall. So you know, if it's these allegations of
- 13:33not one, but two women for sexual misconduct, does not fall under a
- 13:41fireball sense, and I say it again, I ended with that, then
- 13:45please tell me what does That's pretty much what Hopey said in his commentary that
- 13:48he did last week. Two. Yeah, I saw that. I said
- 13:50that sounded like my speeding pretty much, you know, and I think copy
- 13:56for you know, letting me stay because I'm going to tell you as you
- 14:00know, the public is very aware of this, and you know, we
- 14:03want to trust our police officers, and we've been and again you run on
- 14:07the platform, we're gonna you know, you talk about those two restaurants,
- 14:09but I'm going to get on there and talk about you know, she's the
- 14:13CEO of this city. She ran the first time on I'm going to revitalize
- 14:16them all. I'm going to do this. We're going to have a robust
- 14:18economic development. Well, nothing has happened except people leaving. But yet,
- 14:24Okay, we had the big announcement about Tai Khan and the investigation is now
- 14:30closed. But I didn't fire him. But yet, Oh, look,
- 14:33we're going to tear down the Macy's building and starts the sports complex. We
- 14:37don't even have the money for that yet. Why don't we tearing down the
- 14:39Macy's building and leave it in an icefore for two or three years before we
- 14:43have funding. Again, it's all about showmanship. We'll go. You know,
- 14:48don't look at what I say, not what I've done. I mean,
- 14:52it's getting to the point it's it's we were honest with you to sit
- 14:56on council and watch what happened to these two women they came forward. It's
- 15:03not about the women. It is all about the women now. But it's
- 15:07not judging these women. This person had a gun and a badge and a
- 15:13duty to this city, and the mayor had the obligation to handle things in
- 15:22an appropriate manner, in a transparent manner. I stand for transparency. I
- 15:26will always champion women, and I will always champion our law enforcement. And
- 15:31I think this is a double black eye to law enforcement and they don't deserve
- 15:35it. It's hard enough to be a police officer. You need to handle
- 15:39your own and be upfront about it. Coulsel, well, but Shannon Stodgrass
- 15:45is always it's a pleasure to have you on the show. I appreciate you
- 15:48being here. We'll talk again soon. Thanks a lot, Hey, Thanks

- 16:22the mayor that vowed transparency, but it's been non transparent that dismisses victims of

- 17:10At Commissioner Silango has said bonds would be issued for it. With the economy

- 20:45If I flip your microphone on there, Ernest, good morning, Welcome to
- 20:48the show, Ernie, thanks for having me give us the bio on Ernest
- 20:51Blevins. I came to West Virginia in December twenty thirteen and chosen to day.
- 21:00I have a degree in historic preservation, I actually master of Fine Arts,
- 21:04and I work in cultural resources doing archaeology, architectural history, a lot
- 21:11of what's called Section one of six work, which deals with the National Start
- 21:15Preservation Act. So I go between working doing consulting and contracting work writing reports
- 21:23to actually being in the field doing the shovel tests and photographs of buildings and
- 21:29things generally, you know, around the whole Southeast. Sometimes I'm interested in
- 21:36running, because I did run the last time in twenty twenty two, and
- 21:41I did fairly decent for a newcomer. And I would like to do public
- 21:47service and you know, try to assist West Virginia to improve and keep more
- 21:52people here and attract more people. I have kids in elementary school and junior
- 21:59high or middle school they call it here high school, and one at Marshall
- 22:03and went in the workforce. I'm all products of Canow County schools in the
- 22:07end, and you know, I would like to see them stay around as
- 22:11if I can, or at least provide them the best education to move forward
- 22:17in their personal lives and careers. So I have an interest in a lot
- 22:22of things and improving things in West Virginia to help us all, what are
- 22:26your running out of District fifty seven? First of all, explain that district
- 22:30to us and what are some of the biggest issues of that specific district.
- 22:33Earnest The district is basically Scaff's old district. It's runs from basically one nineteen
- 22:42to Dunbar and South Charleston and then own up back not quite to Jefferson Road
- 22:52area. I call it South Charleston, Dunbar of Vandalia, South Hills,
- 22:59Spring Hills. That that area there. It looks like on the map of
- 23:03probably the smallest geographical district at least I've seen in the state. But it
- 23:07has the same population as all these other districts that expand for acres and acres.
- 23:17The district I think is fairly conservative, although they've elected popular Democrats in
- 23:23the past. Who's who's now changed parties, which you know sort of says
- 23:26something about maybe a little more conservative than that. So, uh, some
- 23:33of the issues we all want good roads. Uh. One of the issues
- 23:38in general i've seen is a pay salary in West Virginia. I'd like to
- 23:42see that improved state for state employees. When I was worked in the state,
- 23:48I know there's some pay discrepancies, not malicious or anything, but if
- 23:55I compared dollars Charleston dollars to other play says, I found that the employees
- 24:02in my office will tended to be lower paid than their peers around the country.
- 24:07And this is adjusted to Charleston dollars. And I saw several people leave,
- 24:11so that you know, they were using us as a stepping stone to
- 24:15go off to other places. And you know, if we adjust that salary
- 24:19gap there in their fields, and this is probably not just that office,
- 24:23but other offices I would suspect had the same sort of situation that we could
- 24:29keep and attract people here there, and of course being near town, you
- 24:36know that that would help our district and maybe attracting some people. And we
- 24:40have fairly strong economics with South Charleston and the new products going in there across
- 24:45from the Kroger and so the district is is fairly decent, but I think
- 24:52we can all work on improvements and do ourselves better. Talking town as Black

- 25:17And this, how's the campaign been going so far? It's been going
- 25:21fairly well there campaign style? Are you a sign waiver? Door knocker door?
- 25:26I've been doing some some door knocking. I'm the one who has a
- 25:30flag either at the van or out the car, big blue flag says Blevin's
- 25:34on it and the district subdivisions of Vandalien and that sort of thing. So
- 25:41I'm the one you see you running around doing that. I do some flag
- 25:45waving a little bit of a different twist on sign waving, as the little
- 25:52gimmick has given me some notice, and I've had people comment on it,
- 25:55so it was successful and last time, and so I'm continue to do that
- 26:00and try to meet people, put giving cards out, getting the name out
- 26:04there, and say, I think I have a little bit of advantage.
- 26:07I do have my name already out there from last time competition. We I
- 26:11don't think we've heard from one of the people who's running, and then of
- 26:18course the other one has advertised on this radio, which so so we're all
- 26:23working for the same vote. I have no feel on how he's how he's
- 26:26doing, how the other one's doing, or how you know, I think
- 26:30I'm doing pretty well myself, but I really have nothing to compare with,
- 26:33and I don't know if they do either. What do you when you're out
- 26:37at campaign advance, whether you're waving your flag or you're talking to people or
- 26:40doing it, what do you hear from the public out there and it's about
- 26:41District fifty seven, What are they telling you? Well, I've gotten very
- 26:48positive comments on it that you know, people are are interested. Some people
- 26:53aren't interested at all, but you know, I think they're just now starting
- 26:59to get interested. Early on that people there's this too early a start and
- 27:06that sort of thing. But now that it's starting to come up within a
- 27:07month, people starting to look and pay a little bit more attention, ask
- 27:11some more questions and I you know, get a better feel of the candidates,
- 27:18and so we're so we're just trying to get our word out there.
- 27:22You have a like a website or social media that you're on. Elect Bleven's
- 27:26fifty seven is my Facebook, and I'm predominantly working on using that more.
- 27:32That seems to be more engaging than websites in my experience. Social media,
- 27:37social media, social med and of course can't go wrong with the traditional radio
- 27:41either. Yeah, yeah, which I'm looking into. And my email is
- 27:45the elect blevinsat gmail dot com, So you can reach out there as well

- 33:30Well over the weekend came the news late Saturday night that a couple of iconic
- 33:37Charles Neiders, the Chop House and Tide Water Grill, would be closing through
- 33:39doors. Meteorologist Brian Hughes from storm Track for thirteen somehow found himself covering this
- 33:45story late Saturday night. He joins us now via the big Ley Pickley Wiggily
- 33:49hotline and with additional comments, we have former mayor Danny Jones here. Danny,
- 33:52good morning, good morning, and Brian, good morning to you too.
- 33:57Good morning to you. Gentlemen. All right, well, please don't
- 33:59use the word around me and Danny. Well, there's at least one of
- 34:01you, and there's a gentleman. I will start with you Brian, you
- 34:06are all over the story starting Saturday night. I mean, you know,
- 34:08don't you have rain to watch or something. How does a meteorologist get in
- 34:13on this story? Well, typically I would be just doing the rain and
- 34:16the weather, but sometimes I get wrapped into things just by accident. And
- 34:20that's that's kind of how this happened. I mean, I saw everybody who
- 34:22has ever been to Tidewater you know a number of times, has probably ran
- 34:28into you know, maryon Leg and you know, she's worked there for twenty
- 34:31years. She literally has been late three times ever in her twenty year career
- 34:36there, and she's a wonderful lady. And she just said, I just
- 34:42lost my job. They're closing up. So I quickly messaged her and she's
- 34:45like, yep, both restaurants are closing. It's not just I posted that,
- 34:49you know, confirming what she had told me. And things kind of
- 34:52went off the rails from there. And then they had a meeting at ten
- 34:55am yesterday morning at the at Tidewater with all the employees from chop House and
- 35:00Tidewater UH to advise him of everything, you know, going forward and the
- 35:07best way the company could help them, And the company said listen, they
- 35:09you can come work with us in Ohio, Michigan. And the president of
- 35:12the company said, you know, we don't expect many, if any to
- 35:15take that offer because you've got to go well up to you know, into
- 35:20Michigan or to get some of the shops. But he he himself, Kevin
- 35:29you Degco, who is the president of MS Adventures. He said he was
- 35:36upset that one of the managers told me that they haven't given a craft about
- 35:42this, about this part of their company since they bought the place a number
- 35:45of years ago. And he was upset with me, and I said,
- 35:47no, no, no, I did not say that. One of your
- 35:50managers, the guy you told on Saturday night that it's time to close up
- 35:54the doors, you need to tell the employees. That's what he said to
- 35:58me directly on a Sunday winning And then uh, then I had a phone
- 36:01in conversation with the with the president of the company, and you know,
- 36:05he said, you know, they're going to spend forty thousand dollars to pay
- 36:07out vacation, but you know they've lost hundreds of thousands of dollars over the
- 36:10last five years. And he said they just could not susay that without new
- 36:15tenants and a better lease deal. And when he and I were specifically discussed
- 36:19in the whole group, I said, I said, I'm gonna put this
- 36:22nicely, they're, uh, they're difficult to work with. He said,
- 36:25Oh, you're being way too nice. They are pain in the horses rear.
- 36:30And he said, we've come to a point where the city who's tried
- 36:35over and over to work with them can't work with him anymore. It's a
- 36:37private company. They're they're just being extremely difficult, uh, that being the
- 36:42whole group. And he said, he said, listen, the thing that
- 36:45we are trying to drive home is we were excited about the sports complex and
- 36:50if the hotel had gone in like it was supposed to, he said,
- 36:52we probably could have survived until that sports complex. He said, but this
- 36:57problem is the whole group. M what is the that are they the people
- 37:02that own the Malleo own them? Mall okay, yeah, go ahead,
- 37:07And they were, Yeah, they were the ones who I was there when
- 37:08it was auctioned on the courthouse steps. They were the ones who bought it
- 37:12for five million, uh you know, and that was essentially just taking over
- 37:15the note from I can't remember was a US bank or Bank of America.
- 37:19Uh, but you know, you look at what's happening right now. I
- 37:22mean I've gotten other notes from people who are who talked about how you know
- 37:24they're not renewing leases or they just have really bad terms to negotiate, and
- 37:30you know there there will be more stores that are going to close up shopping
- 37:32there, and uh, you know, you you've got to look at this.
- 37:36Okay, is this going to be another quote unquote bankruptcy just with this
- 37:39as its own entity, or is this just going to be a total write
- 37:43down that they're looking at, uh, as far as taxes are concerned.
- 37:46And what happens to the property after that, because right now, you know,
- 37:50if you can get it for five million, there's twenty two acres over
- 37:52here. You know, right now, you know the running way for an
- 37:55acre to be about a million dollars of pop that you go the whole group
- 38:00being interested in selling more, not at this not at this point. But
- 38:06you know, you know, as if as you know, as we all
- 38:09know, everything has a price, it's just naming it and taking his hands,
- 38:14but everything that everything has to have a buyer. And you're if you
- 38:21buy a ma all like that. You're dealing in negative volume. In other
- 38:24words, you're gonna lose. You're gonna lose money. Danny, you were
- 38:28there when he used to establishments first open their doors. Yeah, your thoughts.
- 38:31Tadwater opened in eighty three and I still had all my dark hair,
- 38:37and I wouldn't you know. I was elected sheriff the next year and I
- 38:42was, man, I've had a good life back in those days. It
- 38:45was. It was a very exciting place and they had a lot of good
- 38:51business. You had to get there early to get a table. And I
- 38:54think this is all very sad. Let me tell you what opportunity looms though,
- 39:00Brian. If I was forty years old instead of seventy three, I
- 39:06would try to contact those people that own the Hall Group, because I have
- 39:10a feeling these people have walked out and they've left everything there and they owe
- 39:17money on their lease. But somebody might get a restaurant for nothing. And
- 39:22if the Hall Group was smart. And I did this in Nitro, I
- 39:27got a bunch of I paid. I remember I paid Bob Hatfield for eight
- 39:32months. I paid him five thousand. That's all I paid him. Now
- 39:37I paid him three thousand. So essentially I got the first first year almost
- 39:43free, and that gives you a good head start to somebody if they would,
- 39:46if they were if they were interested in having a restaurant, they could
- 39:52make a deal there. But now, if this guy doesn't want anybody in
- 39:57there, or if he doesn't want to help somebody get the place, then
- 40:00and that's at either end. You could do either end. I could take
- 40:04that tide water and bring some smokers. Well, it sounds like we need
- 40:07the return of Danny's Barbecue. Is that what you're hearing there, Brian,
- 40:12I've heard that, Brian Bran. One thing I want to say, I
- 40:14think that was really good in this whole story is uh, you know you
- 40:17saw various eateries through out the canalv out, I mean going as far as
- 40:21over where I live in Putnam County, Sleepy Hollow, you know, putting
- 40:23out things saying, hey, we want to hire these people because face and
- 40:28they kind of have selfish reasons too, because they can't find anybody to work
- 40:31so there, so they're reaching out to these people. That's right, And
- 40:36listen Mary and Legg. Yesterday morning, she already had a job offer that
- 40:39she had accepted so she didn't tell me where. She said, I can't
- 40:43say it yet, but I've accepted the job offer. A lot of those
- 40:45guys. I was talking to a lot of the line cooks, the kitchen
- 40:50staff out there before they had their meet at ten am. They're all just
- 40:53you could see just the strut sort of looks on their face. But they
- 40:57but you know, when they were hearing and they were seeing on Facebook all
- 40:59these offers. I mean, you have Olive Tree Catering, you had Buffalo
- 41:02Wild Wings that were offering to give them jobs. PG said, please come
- 41:07see any of us downtown. We're looking for people who will hire you.
- 41:10And so you saw the good spirit of the business community steff up and go.
- 41:15We'll take care of these people because we do need more staff. We
- 41:17you know, we we need these people, and they're good quality staff.
- 41:22But you know, there's there's one thing that that that the president of the
- 41:28company. I asked him, I said, I said, why the no
- 41:31notice? He said, he said, we were told essentially by the group
- 41:36the board, that we've got to shut it down and there's just no way
- 41:38that we can do anymore. And he said, he said, you know,
- 41:42I could have hired a company coming here and just terminate these employees,
- 41:44and I could have moved on, he said, I drove all the way
- 41:45from Michigan. I'm listen. I wasn't happy that with the way they were
- 41:50still terminated as well. But he said, I could have hired somebody out
- 41:52and done this, he said, but I drove down here from Michigan to
- 41:55talk to them myself and to take the wrath on, he said, because
- 41:59I knew it would happen. He said, But there's just no way we
- 42:01could survive without that sports complex coming in, or you know, or just
- 42:06favorable least terms. I mean. And at the same time, the whole
- 42:08group has has done this to themselves. I mean when you look to they
- 42:12sued the guy who bought the Seers building in or down and just because he
- 42:16was touching the building trying to tear every thing down. I mean, they
- 42:19just went, hey, you know, just crazy. So so you know,
- 42:22the whole group has done this, and I've been in I've been in
- 42:25meetings, you know, even had a discussion one time with the mayor.
- 42:30She said. We have tried everything in our powers, she said, but
- 42:31at the end of the day, it's a private business and there's sometimes there
- 42:35are things we just can't do. Yeah, you're exactly right, Hey,
- 42:37Brian, A great job being on top of the story starting Saturday night.
- 42:42I appreciate you being here. I do. I have been told that sometime
- 42:46later on the week we may have an announcement about the entertainment for the regatta,
- 42:50that that may be coming at some point later this week. I was
- 42:52told that I hope that is the case. Quickly, give me twenty seconds
- 42:55on weather. Since you're here, Earn and their weather paycheck, give me
- 42:59twenty second on weather. I listen. I enjoyed the sunshine today. The
- 43:04frost that we had this morning should be about the last one. It's seventy
- 43:07two tomorrow, it's gonna be dry day with the rain moving at night.

- 46:17Jones, former Charleston mayor, is here. Danny, let's move away from
- 46:22the from the restaurant business for a moment. I had a councilor of the
- 46:27Channa Snodgrass on top of the show on this whole tight hunt situation. I
- 46:30know you've been on Hoppy talking about it. Why can't you fire a police
- 46:34officer? Well you can, it's just hard you. She talked about where
- 46:38the where the police officers through the backpack in the river, and he lied
- 46:43about it. That's why he got fired. And then his buddy lied about
- 46:46it for him. And now I know the second police officer, he's one
- 46:52of the cops up there at the at the state capital. But he's no
- 46:55good as a witness because they're it will come up if he has testify against
- 47:04somebody what happened and why he had to leave the Charleston Police Department. You
- 47:07wanted to weigh in on this, Well, the only one we wouldn't even
- 47:12know about this Vendven for Shannon. Yeah, so she has to be she
- 47:16you know, she has she should be given credit for that, and I
- 47:21don't. I'm not sure it's over yet. The reason see that the Harlest
- 47:25case. I know that there was a file sent to the prosecutor and they
- 47:30didn't they didn't prosecute, and I don't think they had anything to prosecute him.
- 47:35Pour on that, Chelsea McCoy. It's right there, baby, falsification
- 47:39of records everything. It's all right that live box trading, the live box
- 47:45altered thing for sex. There's got to be a criminal violation there. So
- 47:50it depends. So it might not be over. You don't know. I
- 47:52mean, I don't know who's involved. I don't know what's what's what direction
- 47:58or if the cave, if the city's closed the cave. It may have
- 48:00So we'll just have to wait and see. I want to talk a little
- 48:04politics with you. Last week, the governor endorsed former delegate more Capital for
- 48:10a governor of justices as who endorsed more Capital. Hope. He's got a
- 48:14poll going on Twitter on x right now about do these endorsements really help?
- 48:19And when I looked at the top of the show, doesn't factor in was
- 48:23was was leading in the in the informal poll your thought on that endorsement.
- 48:29Well, I think it's significant. I don't know if it's significant enough.
- 48:31I mean, I'd rather have it than not have it. And you know,
- 48:36Big Jim is very popular and hopefully it'll it'll roll down to more to
- 48:42more Capito. I mean, because he's he's he's very close to Morrissey,
- 48:46I mean in the polls, so it it it could help him. Now
- 48:52they're starting to run what's his name, the black Bear pack, that's Morrisey's
- 48:55pack. He's he's running nasty stuff about about more now. And he's got
- 49:02a thing where I don't know why Donald Trump Junior would insert himself in that
- 49:07race. I don't know what that's about. Because his mother voted for aid
- 49:12to Ukraine and because she voted for the infrastructure bill. The infrastructure bill is
- 49:17very valuable to this state. And I'm for ad to Ukraine. I mean,
- 49:22I'll tell anybody that that's easy for me. You don't aid Ukraine,
- 49:27you don't give them the tools to fight that war, to keep Russia busy
- 49:30in Ukraine, they'll get busy in Poland. And it's just like World War
- 49:34Two. That's what's wrong with this whole America. First movement. It's an
- 49:37isolationist movement. We have a president. Nineteen thirty eight, nineteen thirty nine,
- 49:43nineteen forty you had Charles Lindbergh. You know, he was out in
- 49:49People don't know about him. He left the country because he couldn't get any
- 49:52peace at home, and he went to Europe and then he went to France.
- 49:57And when he was in France, he got all jacked up with this
- 50:00one guy and they were all in an area and superiority crap. And then
- 50:07he went to Germany and there he was the thirty six Olympics and he's getting
- 50:12medals from Oh they wooed him like a bride and he's there showing the salute
- 50:19and he's with Goring getting medals. And he made a speech in Medicine Square
- 50:25Garden, which wasn't it wasn't accepted well. But then he went to Iowa.
- 50:30He said, there's three reasons that the people want us to go into
- 50:34the European War. One is the Roosevelt administration, two is Great Britain,
- 50:39and three of the Jews. Those were his words. So, I mean,
- 50:44we've got precedent for everything that happens here, and it's important that we
- 50:47support Ukraine. I want to get your opinion on this before we go campaign
- 50:52advertising. And I consider myself to be friends. When there's about ninety a
- 50:54percent of the people that are running for various offices, and I know most
- 50:58listen to this show, either live or on the podcast. Campaign advertising has
- 51:01become on the state wide level or for Congress or whatever it's become. You
- 51:06know, I love Trump more than you. I could blow things up.
- 51:08I hate trans people or whatever. I got a I saw an ad over
- 51:14the weekend. I think I even send it to you. And I'm not
- 51:16picking on this person personally, but a candidate for secretary of State who said
- 51:21in their ad, I will secure the border. Now what what exactly?
- 51:27What I mean? What does a secretary of state have to do with securing
- 51:30the border? I worked at the secretaries that we were more concerned with voting
- 51:34precincts than we were securing the border. Your thoughts and the Corporations division,
- 51:37Oh yeah, that's it, and that's where that's where my experience was.
- 51:42But people that run that kind of ad, especially the real negative ads like
- 51:47come out of Morrissey's group, and they're not interested in this state. They're
- 51:52interested in themselves. You have to ask yourself when you see an ad or
- 51:58hear an ad, who are they interested in? And a lot of them
- 52:01are just interested in themselves. I like more because he hadn't run those kind
- 52:06of beds, and I hope he doesn't. But moricial, he'd do anything
- 52:10to crawl in, crawl under and trying to get the governor's job. I
- 52:14mean, I mean this guy, he'll he'll do anything. You're not a
- 52:17fan, huh. I'm not a fan of a lot of these people.
- 52:22I'm glad to be here, though I've been here before. I'm aware.
- 52:27What do you think, Hey, we're remodeling. Do you have to come
- 52:29back when remodeling's face? That's what I'm talking about. You got a face
- 52:32for television. They got my radio, they got me out here before they
- 52:37did all this. All right, Dandy, I appreciate you being here bad
- 52:39Thanks lit, I'll be courageable coming up at ten oh six, will talk
- 52:44loud. I'll be back on the show tomorrow. Secretary of State cared that
