- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop so I want to share Are with
- 0:31you. One of my most favorite
- 0:33questions that I use with all my coaching clients with myself
- 0:36with my son with just about anybody.
- 0:39I probably ask this question of myself, I don't know probably a
- 0:43good legitimately 50 times a day because it's just such a
- 0:48powerful question and you're probably going to be shocked by
- 0:51it because it's very introspective.
- 0:53But the question is, what else could this mean?
- 0:58And the power of this question was taught to mean many, many
- 1:01years ago by a shaman, actually, in Hawaii.
- 1:06And we were at a Tony Robbins event.
- 1:10We were sitting outside having a conversation and we were talking
- 1:14about the power of questions and all the different things that
- 1:17they could mean and all the different questions that people
- 1:20ask themselves. And I asked him, what is your
- 1:22favorite question? And he said, what else could
- 1:25this mean? And I said, wow, that's a really
- 1:27great question. It isn't it?
- 1:29It's one of my favorite questions ever.
- 1:31And if not my most favorite and, you know, when I started to pay
- 1:35attention to that in my own life, it really became a force.
- 1:40If you will. Because when you ask that
- 1:42question for anything, you start to expand your horizons.
- 1:48You start to expand what you know.
- 1:50So you hear all that gaggling going on in the background.
- 1:53It sounds like the chickens are all upset, right?
- 1:55Sounds like they're angry about something.
- 1:57It sounds like they're being attacked.
- 1:59It could mean a lot of things to different people, but when I
- 2:02first got them out here and they were into their, you know, Coop,
- 2:05big hoop, and they would start doing this.
- 2:07I was like, oh, nerved up. I would run outside.
- 2:10Oh my God, something's attacking them.
- 2:12I made a conclusion. I made a conclusion that they
- 2:14were in trouble and I run out. And what I see is a bunch of
- 2:19chickens, hens specifically all lined up and here we are.
- 2:24I'm standing inside. As I'm telling you, this,
- 2:26they're all lined up. They're yelling at each other.
- 2:29Well now they're stopping because I'm here obviously, but
- 2:31they're all lined up and this whole thing all this yelling is
- 2:36not someone's attacking them. It's that they are annoyed with
- 2:40each other because they have eight boxes in which they can
- 2:43lay eggs and they like two of the eight, the rest of them are.
- 2:49I guess, not Prime real estate but they are all four boxes on
- 2:55top of four boxes. They are all set up identical.
- 2:57They are All have the same. Hey, they all have the same
- 3:00herbs in them. Yet these chickens argue and
- 3:03yell at each other because they all want the same two boxes to
- 3:07lay their eggs in. And I don't understand it
- 3:10myself. But the first time I saw this, I
- 3:12thought I must be wrong. There must be a snake in this,
- 3:15in the coop, there must be something I'm not seeing and
- 3:18boom, I look in, nope, there's nothing.
- 3:20There there's nothing there and then I realize, well, what else
- 3:25could this mean? Well, it's that they all just
- 3:27like to lie. Eggs in the same two boxes and
- 3:30if there's a chicken in there, laying an egg, they will yell in
- 3:33her face until she hurries up in which she sits there.
- 3:36And ignores them, which I love that.
- 3:38She ignores them and doesn't hurry for anybody.
- 3:40She's like, nope, my time, I will take my time but that one
- 3:44question I can ask and I can find out what's really going on
- 3:48is that they all have their favorites.
- 3:50I can ask a client that question.
- 3:52What else could this mean? And they can explain to me?
- 3:55Well, I don't know what, well, let's brainstorm What else could
- 3:58it mean? What else is something that
- 4:00could be in the person's mind or in your child's mind or in the
- 4:04situation? What else could be showing up?
- 4:06What else is bringing to the table for you?
- 4:11The question is, formulated in a way that allows your brain to
- 4:16take it in and actually say, all right, I already have a
- 4:19conclusion because the word else is in there.
- 4:22So we automatically, as human beings, we go to, what does this
- 4:27mean? And we try to without even
- 4:30thinking about this, this is something that's just hardwired
- 4:33into us. It's how our cognitive brain
- 4:35capacity works. We look to draw conclusions
- 4:38quickly, so that we can process. Because our brains are all about
- 4:42speed. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
- 4:44So what else does this mean? Circumvents that it goes over it
- 4:50and it says, okay, you've got a conclusion but think of another
- 4:53conclusion, think of another conclusion and it gives your
- 4:57your brain, the capacity to use creativity, to use perspective,
- 5:01to use other emotions and come up with different possibilities.
- 5:09And in that, that's where the power comes.
- 5:11He's in for Solutions, creativity, it all blossoms,
- 5:15Steve Jobs was great. At what else could we do?
- 5:20He one of the things that he was so good at doing was asking
- 5:24these other questions that go beyond what we know in the
- 5:27moment to go to the next level up.
- 5:30So this is one of those questions for you to ask
- 5:32yourself. What else could this mean and
- 5:35help you to see and formulate different perspectives that
- 5:40bring? About different possibilities
- 5:43and different conclusions for you to go to and also help those
- 5:48around you become more creative and yourself to become more
- 5:50creative. Because honestly, the more you
- 5:53put that framework around you through instance, I paint.
- 5:58And when I paint, I will say well, what's another way I can
- 6:01do this. So that's a branch off of that
- 6:04question. At least in my mind it is and
- 6:06then I can try different things. And even though they may fail,
- 6:10I'm far more. Open to them because it's all
- 6:12about possibility and then I don't look at it, like it's just
- 6:15an okay, it's a failure. No it's just I figured out what
- 6:19I didn't like it's not a failure.
- 6:21I just figured out what I didn't like.
- 6:22So hopefully this resonates with you and you'll be able to use
- 6:25this more and more in your life because I promise you, the more
- 6:29you use this question, the better.
- 6:31You will be at helping yourself and helping those around you to
- 6:34get to what they really want in their life and their focus.
- 6:38So I hope you guys have a blessed day and I will see you
- 6:40tomorrow. Bye-bye.
