- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to podcast number six.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: This is T-Bone with T-Bone Sports One Fan All Game.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Well, sorry for the long delay between between podcasts.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Life got crazy, but we are now officially into training camp.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: It's been around for a few days now, about a week or so.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Some teams have already played in their first preseason game, which was the old Hall of Fame game between the Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Quick little tidbit on my personal note.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: You know, I I get honoring, and I get doing the Hall of Fame, and I get doing a Hall of Fame weekend, but here's my opinion.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: You you don't need to do a football game, preseason game that weekend.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: That weekend should be solely for the great former players of the NFL that made the NFL what it is today and how it's still improving, and honor those great players that have played in the NFL.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: You you you don't need to sit there and have a preseason game because, you know, yeah, okay, I get its football, I get its showcasing, you know, and and honoring those players from those teams that were inducted into the class of 2026 or, you know, 2025, 2027 coming up here next year.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: But don't don't play a football game.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Let it let that be an honor and a weekend solely for the great players that are being enshrined into the Hall of Fame and enjoying all the rest that have been enshrined.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: And and just let it be that.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Don't don't do a football game.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Do something else.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Come up with a better idea.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: You know, having having one team two teams out of the 32 teams play a fourth preseason game just for basically what I think is no reason is isn't fair.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Bronco's first preseason game is Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Sean Payton has said that they will be doing allowing some of the starters to play.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: There has been a couple quite a bit of injuries.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: We know that J.K.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Dobbins, Marvin Mims, and Jaden Waddle will not be participating in the first preseason game due to injuries.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: And you know, again, and here here's again a quick side note.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: I just don't think you need to have the veterans play in the first preseason game.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, preseason game two, yeah, preseason game three now that we only have have three preseason games, I get it.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: You know, get these young guys, get these rookies, get these guys that are fighting to try to make a team in the NFL.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Give them playing time, give them time to to do it.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: You know, he obviously said in a press conference yesterday that he doesn't know fully if if sha if Bo Nicks is gonna play.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: You know, here here's again, why are we gonna risk having Bo Nicks step out on a field on turf, which isn't forgiving and can be super harmful to players that are coming off an injury like his with the ankle and and other things.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: You know, there's players around the NFL that don't like the turf.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: They want natural grass again, like you know, back in the day, almost every every you know, field was that.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously there were teams that still had the artificial turf, you know, the astroturf that were indoors, but you know, we'll see.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: I I'm excited for this year.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: I I like I said earlier, I I see somewhere between 11 and 12, maybe 13 wins, I think, for the Broncos.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: But you know, we'll we'll see how how that goes.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: You know, there is definitely been some definitely been some injuries, you know, and and training camp is is one of those that is always so different, so difficult, and so hard to do because you know these players are coming back in there, they're coming back off from the offseason, they're they're getting back ready into into playing shape.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: And I I I just I really hope people understand that you you're you're you're you know, these players are going there.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: They're they're trying to, you know, fight for their job.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the veterans are are obviously in the clear and are are gonna make are gonna make the team.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: You get these young guys that were drafted and undrafted free agents that are trying to trying to go.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, we'll see how how the Broncos do in pre in the preseason.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: You know, I think if anybody really goes, if if the starters really do all play, they may get a series or two just to kind of to work out the kinks.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously Webb is is is the new the new play caller, so he you know, this is this is a very great opportunity for him to be able to, again, you know, take some time and and and make some calls in the preseason and live game action and be right there on the field.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: You know, that's another thing that that was talked about in training camp is is or yesterday you know, at the press conference after after practice is you know, is he gonna be on the field?
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Is he gonna be on the you know up in the up in the booth?
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: You know, and I I think it's I think it and you you look at it, and I think it's up to each player.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: I think it's up to each coach, you know, the you know, e each coordinator on the offensive defense, you know, do they want to be up top?
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Do they want to be able to see the whole field, or do they rather get, you know, a a bird's eye view of the of you know what the player see, what he sees, where he can get the group player, the the the players together in groups and you know, get each individual coach from the wide from the you know linebackers to the defensive line to the cornerbacks to the safeties and you know get them all together, hey, let's let's work on this, let's work on that.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: What are you guys seeing out there and and really get like Vance Joseph really likes to be on the sidelines, you know?
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: And and you know, obviously Sean Payton, you know, played when he was making plays, he was obviously on the field.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: And I think Jack Webb is I think Webb is gonna be on the field because I think he feels more comfortable that way.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: He can get with, you know, get with Bo Nicks, get with the receivers, get with the linemen, and and really, you know, figure out, you know, that.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: So let's see how, you know, well I'm excited to see how Friday night goes.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is preseason.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: I don't think you're gonna we're gonna see the starters really, really play a lot, but I I think we I think in the long run we really you know you'll see a lot of the younger guys, yeah, okay, let's sit out Marvel Minims, let's make sure these guys are heav healthy.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: You know, is it is it worth risking having you know Cortland Sutton that missed some practices because of of of some injury issues or or whatever issues he was having?
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: You know, is it worth risking putting him out there on the on you know on a preseason game where you know this really doesn't count, this really isn't much.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: But yeah, it's nice for these players to get uh to get live game action instead of you know the reps that they do in in practice where you know they just get touched and the play is dead and you know they're not getting fully hit, taken to the ground and you know, and seeing another different defense and and other than their own.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: So it it'll it'll be f I think it'll be I think it'll be a good it'll be a good uh good things, you know.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Ten days into training camp, you know, the you know there there's been some really big some really big players out there that have have really done you know a fantastic job, you know.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Bryant is is really being an outstanding receiver.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: You see some of these other young guys really out there, you know, in we just recently heard that, you know, last week, early last week or late last week, that you know, Taysom Hill is no longer in in New Orleans and he's a free agent.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: So is is Sean Payton gonna bring him in?
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: And you know, what what are we gonna do there?
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: And and you know, the Broncos have have really been, I think, playing really, really well.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: You know, you you you we know there's some big time injuries.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: We know that you know that that happens in training camp and and we know that you know where where they are.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: We'll we'll do a couple here, uh, you know, a press conference from yesterday with with Sean Payton and what he thinks is gonna happen here and in the first preseason game.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: He missed a few days of practice because he went in and went to Canton, Ohio to help enshrine you know, Drew Breesett that made the that made into the Hall of Fame and congratulations to Drew Breeset, a quarterback that I think truly and justfully deserves to be in there, and he he had some great years.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: You know, when he first came into league in San Diego, he he struggled, but once he got with Sean Payton in New Orleans, you know, he he really bloomed and really became a really outstanding quarterback.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: So without further ado, we'll do a little snippet of the press conference with Sean Payton from Broncos Training Camp.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: Sean, there's several situations in here where it seems like you guys can have the size of the success.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: Well, the the the situational part of the game, you know, there's like 53 that a lot of them are two-minute related that that come up each week.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: So it's knowing how to react, like, and and then knowing how to react defensively what they're thinking, offensively what we're thinking.
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: And so each day when we present those, we try to get two or three of them, and then you know you want to get to a point where you know they know it pulled, and the challenge is it might be seven weeks, eight weeks before you hit one of them, but you got to keep practicing.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: So but yeah, we we covered a lot of that today.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: Coach over the coach over the weekend, Teddy Bridgewater, a guy who spent some time in here.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: You've you've worked with obviously he doesn't retirement, just with all me getting back from what do you remember about your time?
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, our our experience, my experience was fantastic.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: I sent him a text last night.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: I I wasn't quite sure.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: I saw the the same news you guys did, and then it seemed to be more finalized.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: He was getting on a bus to play a preseason game, I think.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: And we we made a trade for him, and I know I was at like our touchdown club banquet, like we have here.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: He was a great asset.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: A really, really good teammate.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Like he had some rare leadership skills.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: You guys that have covered him probably were around him enough, but yeah, he was he was important.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: He was on our team during a ton of wins.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: You know, when Drew got hurt, he went five and oh, you know, and I think he'll find his way back into coaching or some role with football.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: So Sean Payton talking there about the retirement of Teddy Bridgewater.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: The next little segment I'll play here.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: And again, thank you to Broncos.com for these press conferences that I'm able to play.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: These talking about press conference from the other day about the importance of pre-season and why he thinks it's important for these players to get some representative preseason.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: You know, some situational third-down work and some call-it periods as well.
- 11:04SPEAKER_02: Gotta get a handle on some of the soft tissues.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: We've had a couple, you know, either strains, hamstring, or groins.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: Continue to fight through that.
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: Any questions?
- 11:19SPEAKER_03: I mean it's been really hard.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't think I don't think it's heat related as much as you know, you always try to look at your pre-practice routine, your hydration, obviously.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: And you know, it's incumbent on the player.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: It's it's it's hard for anyone to know your soft tissue.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: And so I'm always looking at like what we did leading up to maybe a period where someone had a strain.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: So, you know, we had a warm down after practice, and we'll continue to focus on it though.
- 11:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: So one of the points, how much you might you need to start?
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: We haven't, we haven't, they'll play, but we haven't gone through the rule yet.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: I'll let you guys know.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'll let you know when we go through the rules.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:05SPEAKER_03: DG came locked down the field, and how concerned are you?
- 12:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's he's off tissue.
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: I I think he's gonna be fine.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: We're just being smart with it.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: So it's back to what I was saying at the beginning.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: Sean, you know what the first three unique experiences at this point in your NFL life, so what was it like the weekend and something you could be done for?
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I I was telling the players I'd been on Saturday, you know, when Bill went in or Cortez Kennedy, Lake Cortez Kennedy, and but to be there on that Friday, jacket dinner, to be at the hotel with you know, 130 of these players, it's pretty humbling, pretty remarkable.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: And you you appreciate how close this group, those group of players are.
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: Even I think there were 16 or 17 widows that come in, and the the Pro Football Hall of Fame does a like a phenomenal job.
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: And in that small region of Ohio for that period of a week, hospitality and and how important it is to them that the experience is good, you you get a much deeper insight this time around than maybe before.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: So very humbling and inspiring as well.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: You know, you come back and you and you know, there's so many memories with those guys, and and you know, the message obviously is we're we're still in session, like you know, and we're we're getting to live it right now.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: So and most, you know, from winning teams.
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: Not always, but most.
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: So very appreciative and and you know, saw and met a lot of people that you know you grew up watching.
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: That was kind of special.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: Coach, at the same time, how unique or bizarre was it to not be here for a phase?
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, yeah, it was it was, you know, I'm getting on the plane and and getting an update.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: It's unusual, but so a few tidbits there of him talking about being able to go and help enshrine Drew Breeze, which was really cool, I think, in his part.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Glad that he was able to do that.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Obviously, like I said earlier, he he was the the big reason Drew Breeze became who he was.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: The next little tidbit we'll play is Davis's Webb's comments on coaching in the preseason and what he thinks of being able to do that and and get some reps under his belt and calling plays full time now for the Broncos.
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: You call plays for Friday.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think I'm looking forward to like everyone getting the rhythm.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: Our staff, our players, and now the huddle will learn something every game, every drive, and then we'll kind of review it as the game goes, especially post-game.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Try to get three good opportunities before Kansas Kansas City on Monday night.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: I'll be rocking, and I know they'll be a good team, so it'll be a good opportunity for us to kind of feel that out because most of these practices are scripted, and you know, we kind of know we're gonna run, they kind of know what they're gonna run, and we'll see what happens in a few weeks.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: What did you think of the rhythm today?
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think six days straight, you know.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: I remember that as a player, but there's no excuse.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: But the good thing is that has benefited us throughout the last three years, like we kind of have had really good stretches towards the end of the year because it's these time to practice these types of days where it's physical, it's hot, a lot of running for the receivers, and people get in shape right to rock for a long time team plus game season.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: Hopefully.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think he's right on par with you know the other guys I've been around going in the year three, and I'm really satisfied where he's at, both getting in and out of plays, get into the huddle, get in and out of the huddle fast, checking plays when it's appropriate, not overthinking, getting completions underneath and using his feet.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: You know, I think the injury last year is it was important for him to kind of move around a little bit early here, and I think he's done a really good job.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: I'm really satisfied with the years.
- 16:03SPEAKER_03: Last year, Pat Morat kind of worked his way up quickly.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: What do you see from him coming into this joint camp?
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: It seems like he's making big plays every day.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: Man, Patty Ice has had some really, really good practices.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: I think, you know, when Jalen went out for a couple days or Coral and him, Troy, they really stepped up and made some plays down the field.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: I think Pat is very, very savvy, smart when he catches the ball's feet on the ground.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: It was the things we were attracted to whenever he was coming out of Illinois.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: And it's it's really, really cool to see him take another jump this early in the year, too.
- 16:31SPEAKER_03: What's your what's your process next time?
- 16:33SPEAKER_03: Wouldn't you rather be up or down the side one?
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're still working through that.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: Sean and I.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: I would like to be on the field, is where I'm at today.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: I didn't play much my NFL career.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: I kind of saw the game a lot from that point of view.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: So I feel pretty good there.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: But you know, we'll talk about it a little bit more, but that's where we're headed right now.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: You had a lot of and it's interesting that um, you know, he said that that that's a big debate, especially out here with all the media out here in in in and Colorado.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: You know, I think, like I said earlier, I think it's up to every coordinator where they want to sit.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: I I think he has a much better view of the game on the field.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: You know, he can he can get with Bonex, he can get with Sean Payton, he can get with a receivers coach, he can get with the Langman coach, he can get with the you know the tight end coaches, he can get with everybody and get everybody together and go, what do you see?
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: You know, what do we need to work on?
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Where you know, what are the blocking schemes?
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: And and you know, he can even pick your advanced chauffeurist, Joseph, and say, hey, what do you what are you seeing this defense do?
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: And what are you seeing them doing?
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Or you know, when, you know, what's the key to know if they're in a zone or man-to-man or or zero blitz or or or whatever.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: So I think being there, you know, you get much better, you know, pr projective of what's really happening in in the game.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: You know, and and and I'm excited to see, you know, how he goes.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously does he get the play calling his duty, and the other big debate out here is how quickly, if so, does he lose the play calling ability if they start out 0 and 4 or 0 and 5?
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: But you go back and you look at this gauntlet that they have of of of a schedule going in.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: You know, preseason is pre-season, yeah.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: They're they're playing, you know, they're playing teams, you know, like the Cardinal, you know, like the the the Packers and Minnesota and and you know, the air air of the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, but you you look at their you look at their you look at their schedule coming up and it's just it's absolutely it's absolutely insane.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: You know, second preseason game is is the Green Bay Packers, which you played last year in the regular season and beat, you play the Minnesota Vikings.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: But week one, Kansas City Chiefs, week two, Jacksonville Jaguars, week three, LA Rams, week four, the 49ers, week five, the defending Super Bowl champs, which we found out the other day that that is one of the two games where the Broncos will be bear wearing their old throwback uniforms to the 70s, and so were the Saint so were the uh the Seattle Seahawks, which I I find cool because I also grew up in the era of watching the Broncos where the Seahawks were still in the AFC West for a short time being before they got moved to the NFC West.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: But I remember those old school uniforms, and they just look so much better than than the ones they got now in the Broncos, you know, obviously the old D and how cool that is, and then obviously that that last game against the the LA Chargers, they'll they'll be wearing, you know, their their game.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: And then in week, you know, week si week six, you play the Chargers.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: So, you know, here you are playing your second divisional game, you know, six weeks, six weeks into the season, and then you play the Arizona, then you play the Arizona Cardos.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: So you're pretty much almost already done with the you're you're done with the AFC the NFC West after week seven, week eight you play the the Chiefs again.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: So now you're three divisional games in before your bye week.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: You know, week nine the week before your bye week, because bye week is it is week ten for the Broncos, you play the Carolina Panthers.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, i that that is just a gauntlet of games.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: You're playing teams that have played that are in the in the playoffs that were, you know, you're you're obviously playing the Defend on Singapore champs.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: You know, after your bye week, you got the Raiders.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Right back after your bye week, you know.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: There you're you're now you're already, you know, you've played every team in your division.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Obviously, two of them you've played before your bye week.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: You're already done with the Chiefs before your bye week.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: You know, you still have the the Chargers to play a second time, you still have the Raiders to play a second time.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: Then you play the the the Steelers, the the Dolphins.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: You know, okay, those two teams struggled last year, then you play the Jets again, again, another team that played, that struggled.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Then you got the the the Raiders again.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: So you play the Raiders, you know, within you know two weeks, three weeks of each other.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: Now you're done with the Raiders.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: Obviously, we know they're still going to struggle, you know.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: Then you play the Buffalo Bills, who you played in the divisional round of the playoffs.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: You went into overtime with them and you were able to beat them.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Then you play the Patriots, a team you lost to in the AFC Championship game, which you probably should have won, and then obviously you end up at home against the the LA Chargers.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: It's just it's it's there.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: I like I said earlier, I still think, you know, 11 to 13 wins, but you know, the miraculously, if you can get another 14-win game, you know, great.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: But you know, Pat Bryan is stepping up, you know, you know, and and Troy Franklin is stepping up.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: Some younger receivers are stepping up when, you know, when Cortland Sutton is out, and and when you know Jalen Waddell is out, and you know, the running backs are are playing well, you know, you know, obviously what happens with these players.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: You know, we we hope that the you know the soft battery, soft tissue injuries do heal up pretty quick.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: And you know, I I agree with you know Peyton and those guys and of not playing them, but you know, we'll see how.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: We'll see how this goes.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: Let's see how preseason game one goes.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: I I will do a little bit of a of a recap after the game, but I I think this is a game that is important.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do believe, you know, give give the play give the starters a few reps.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: You know, a series, maybe two, but you know, don't don't risk them too much.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: Get these younger guys to really learn to really learn the offense and and really see if they can can sit there and and and make this team, you know, and and say, hey, you know what, you're you're not necessarily gonna make some team, you know, we'll we'll make some moves and and see if what they're gonna do.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: I I do hope the Broncos do bring in Taysom Hill.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: I think he would be, you know, that one piece, that one other quarterback that know Sean Payton's offense really, really well inside it out.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: You know, maybe get rid of Jared Stenham and keep you know Sam, you know, Sam Ellinger, who who's been on the practice squad the last couple years and get him, you know, maybe number two, number three, and keep him.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: But you know, bring in bring in some other guys, and you, you know, you'll you'll you'll see, you know, you'll see guys leave and you'll see guys hey, you know, but the other the other thing that that is always a risk in the preseason is you're gonna see injuries, you're gonna see somebody get hurt on both teams, and and let's pray and and hope that doesn't happen.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: But that's the thing about preseason is is it's so unpredictable.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: It's so it's there, they're back to live game action, they're back to hitting hard, they're both trying to get prepared for for, you know, as Davis Webb said, you know, the the gauntlet of a 17-game of a 17-game season, you know, 18 weeks, you all have a bye week.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: So we'll see.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: Let's see how the Broncos do.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: But you know, and and the other the other thing is they they opened up their brand new facility, and some of the pictures I've seen on their pages and their their social media.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: That is super, super nice.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: And you know, one thing I did hear on the radio this morning when I was doing some errands is, you know, are are people gonna say, well, you know, you don't win a Super Bowl?
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: It's because of the new facility and the, you know, all the new stuff in it, like the golf simulator and everything else, you know, you know, that that's just gonna make them soft, does it make them stronger?
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: You know, the this this ownership group is is great.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: They they're spending money and and making sure the Broncos have the best facilities in the NFL to develop players, to bring players in to win a round championship.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: You know, their their big thing is is as he is, you know, you know, he said and the owner said the other day in the in the press conference that their their their thing is they're gonna win championship games.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: They had some things they did were able to a concrete company, they were able to buy parcel land over there in Burnham Yards to pretty much get the next domino in line to fall to to start building their brand new stadium.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: You know, they spend fifty-five million dollars to to buy it, but you know, now the next thing is C Dot and the water people in in Denver to figure out what they're gonna do with that and see if they can buy that land or at least figure out how to get that land to go.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: But you know, they they have renderings out that are pretty cool.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: They do want a retractable, you know, retractable dome.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: You know, they he also said that it it's you know the the the weather in Colorado is the most important thing before they you know they decide that they they still want to be able to have the natural grass, they don't want to have the fake turf, you know, they want to be able to have the roof open for majority of the games, obviously in severe weather.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: You know, they'll they'll shut the roof, you know, aka the the the second half of the uh AFC championship game last year.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that would be you know, now would be an opportunity to close it, or if they know it's gonna rain or they know it's gonna be stormy or you know, and and maybe keep it open, you know, for for coal games, just to kind of give the Broncos that opportunity and that edge, you know, especially for teams like California and uh you know other other places like that.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: But you know, it it it'll be cool.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: They're you know, they're they think they're still on target for the 2020 thirty 2031 opening.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: You know, and I think it can be done.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: I I truly do.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: I think if you break ground next summer or even if you even if you're able to break ground late this fall, I still think you could you can really get there and do and do you know, do have that 2031 open date and still in play.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: You know, if you you have if we have a winner like we did last year, you know, and they are able to break ground late this fall and they can go ball, you know, ball out and get everything done, yeah.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: I can see it maybe in 2030 be be done.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: But you know, there's a lot of work to do.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: You you gotta clear the land, you gotta build the parking lots, you gotta build the stadium, you gotta get everything done, you know, you gotta you gotta have you know things done, and you know, there's a process of doing this and it takes time.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: And you know, and and if if the Walton Penners are are able to are are willing to pay for the whole thing and not make the taxpayers in Colorado pay pay for a new stadium, you know, hey, all for it.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: You know, let's keep the name Mile High.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously, do we need to have naming rights?
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: Probably not, but you know, it it it'll it'll it'll be there, you know.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: I mean funny enough that you you could you could obviously, you know, have it Walmart Stadium, you know, at Mile High or, you know, whatever, and keep that mile high stadium, you know, obviously you're gonna get old school Bronco fans like me and and a lot of these other people, they're gonna they're gonna call it Mile High.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: They're not gonna call it by by by the name brand or or the name that's on the stadium or the naming rate people that have it.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: That's just you know, the way it is.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: You know, you you know that's what it is, and that's what I will always call it.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: I'm getting my son to call it that.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: He's starting to figure out that, but but no.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm excited to see how Friday night goes and and to be able to watch some some football.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: You know, we know football is back.
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: We had our final Sunday a few weeks ago with no without football.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: Three weeks of of preseason for every team.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: So these teams are getting ready, getting geared up to see where they are in the season, and we'll see if we have a new champion champion crown this year, or or do the Seahawks are they able to repeat.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: They've got the target on their they've got the big target on the back.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: Obviously, the the Patriots have the smaller target on their back for the AFC championship crown.
- 28:11SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously the Broncos and every team that won their division, they have their division targets on their back.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: Everybody's gonna go for them.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: But I'll I'll do, you know, I'll repeat my my prediction.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: I think the Broncos will finish first.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: I think that Kansas, the Kansas City Chiefs will be will be third.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: I think the LA Charges will be second, and I think obviously we know the Raiders.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: The Raiders will be in fourth place again.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: Just they got a new coach and young player, young rookie quarterback, and and you know, again, they're gonna struggle.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: They're they're starting back at square one.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: So, you know, Raiders, Chiefs, Chargers, Broncos.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: I I think that, you know, is it gonna come down to the last game of the year like it did last year to to decide who's gonna win AFC West between the Broncos and Chargers?
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: I I I believe the Chargers, I believe the Broncos, and I believe the Chiefs all split.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: They beat each other one time, they lose to each other one time.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: So that that's gonna be really, you know, that's gonna be a really tight division.
- 29:07SPEAKER_00: This division is is tough and and it's always been.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously there were years where, you know, the last couple years, you know, obviously the Chiefs are very, very dominant, but they've kind of, you know, fallen back down to earth as it is, and then they're back to having to be able to compete with with the Broncos, with the Chargers.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: And obviously we know that the Raiders are are struggling to compete with these three teams, but you know, they're gonna get there and they're gonna get to the point to where they're they're gonna be a it it this very well this year in a few years, this division could very well be a four-race, four-horse race, but I I believe this year's gonna be another three-horse race, and I think about midway or or near the end of the season, you know, it'll it'll be a two-horse race.
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: You know, we know the Chiefs will be probably solid third place.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: I think the Chargers will be will be that other team to be to be able to really pose as as you know a threat to the Broncos to repeat as AFC West champions, but I think the Broncos, Broncos could do it.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: So, you know, college football is right around the corner.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: We got a couple weeks away from both the Colorado Buffaloes and Alabama Crimson Tide playing.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: So we'll we'll we'll see how they go.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: Those teams are getting geared up and ready to go.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously Alabama had a disappointing season not being able to make the national championship game, still being in the in the in the playoff structure, you know, so that you know their goal, you know, every year, and that's just the way they are.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: They've always been the team that it's it's national champ or bust.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: You know, the Buffaloes need to bounce back from their three and nine season.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: Does does this season B really, really is you know, Coach Prime on the hot seat in Colorado?
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: Yes and no, but you know, we'll see.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: I I think you know, he's feeling better from his cancer prognosis.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: It's gone, it's gone into remission.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: So he's 100% healthy, so I think he'll be ready to go.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: But uh we'll we'll see how we'll see how football goes.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: And you know, it's it's it's that time of year.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: It's fall time, it's August.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: School was started and football is getting back into full swing.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: So I will do another podcast probably Saturday morning if I have time, or here in the next couple days, to uh quickly do do a little recap of the the Bronco game Friday night.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: I will try to jump on and do one Friday afternoon to to kind of go over once we know who's gonna be playing and the starters and the game plan, and we'll see how it goes.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: But thank you to for listening to episode six, the T Bone Sports One Fan Ball Game.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: Have a great day, go Broncos.
