- 0:07Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Schrager is a production of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. What's Up Everybody? We are
- 0:24Speaker 1: less than ten days away from the NFL Draft and
- 0:27Speaker 1: this is the Season with Peter Schrager and I take
- 0:30Speaker 1: a lot of pride in doing just two mock drafts.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Won the week before, won the day before. Right now
- 0:39Speaker 1: it's time to jump in to my first mock draft.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Que the music pump. I almost want to have the
- 0:47Speaker 1: Alan Parson's project to the Chicago Bulls theme as we
- 0:50Speaker 1: build up here, because the Bears are the first team
- 0:52Speaker 1: on the clock. No delay here. Let's get right into
- 0:55Speaker 1: it first overall, pick the Chicago Bears. Select Aleb Williams
- 1:01Speaker 1: quarterback at a usc I reported this last week. These
- 1:05Speaker 1: guys have had had three great meetings. The first one
- 1:08Speaker 1: was at the Combine, second one was at the Pro
- 1:11Speaker 1: day in La. The Bears brass took Caleb Williams out
- 1:15Speaker 1: to a really, really cool exclusive dinner club called Bird Streets.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Now bird Streets is owned by the same guys who
- 1:25Speaker 1: own Nice Guy and Delilah. These are big Vegas, LA
- 1:29Speaker 1: and now in Miami there's at Delilah. The group is
- 1:32Speaker 1: called the h Wood group. They're one of these restaurant
- 1:34Speaker 1: groups that also does clubs. Bird Streets is like their
- 1:37Speaker 1: private members club, and they arranged it so that they
- 1:41Speaker 1: could have Caleb Williams have dinner with them there, and
- 1:45Speaker 1: the Bears brass was obviously GM, Ryan Poles and Matt Aberflus,
- 1:49Speaker 1: couple other people joined and I was told from Bear
- 1:52Speaker 1: sources the night they had their dinner at Bird Streets,
- 1:56Speaker 1: Jamie Fox was there. Cuavo Quevo, I don't know, Quevo
- 1:59Speaker 1: from the Migos was there and they were all coming
- 2:01Speaker 1: over and saying what's up to Caleb Williams, and the
- 2:03Speaker 1: Bears were blown away with how Caleb himself at dinner
- 2:07Speaker 1: and also handing himself in that la scene. Then two
- 2:10Speaker 1: weeks later, it's the only visit Caleb Williams has taken
- 2:13Speaker 1: as a draft prospect. It was in Chicago. Caleb goes
- 2:17Speaker 1: to the facility in Lake Forest, Illinois, and the dinner
- 2:23Speaker 1: was at a restaurant in Lake Forest, which I thought
- 2:26Speaker 1: was interesting. They had it in Lake Forest, not in Chicago,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and Caleb was amazing and they were members of the
- 2:32Speaker 1: Chicago Bears team at this dinner, So you could see
- 2:35Speaker 1: him interact and then the next day he had his
- 2:37Speaker 1: visit at Hallis Hall and blew him away. They're all
- 2:39Speaker 1: in on Caleb Williams, and it sounds like Caleb Williams
- 2:41Speaker 1: is all in on them Great Bears. Caleb Williams put
- 2:44Speaker 1: it in number two. Commanders. Commanders have a really interesting
- 2:49Speaker 1: off season. They bring in Dan Quinn. They bring in
- 2:52Speaker 1: Bob Myers, who is the Golden State Warriors general manager,
- 2:56Speaker 1: who helped with the hiring of the general manager position
- 3:00Speaker 1: which was Adam Peters from the San Francisco forty nine Ers.
- 3:03Speaker 1: They bring in Cliff Kingsbury. In recent weeks, they've made
- 3:07Speaker 1: a bunch of different acquisitions. They've also quietly today which
- 3:11Speaker 1: is Monday, announced the hiring of Dave Gardy. You say,
- 3:15Speaker 1: who's Dave Gardy. Dave Gardy has worked at the league forever.
- 3:19Speaker 1: His father, I believe it was the head coach at
- 3:21Speaker 1: Hostra for many years. But Gardy has been a league
- 3:24Speaker 1: employee who works in the operations and the management council
- 3:28Speaker 1: and is pretty much like the go to guy for
- 3:31Speaker 1: all salary, cap and transaction things at the league. So
- 3:35Speaker 1: everything and every team they have questions or complaints they
- 3:37Speaker 1: would go to Gardy. Gardy also had this group beneath him,
- 3:42Speaker 1: like the Management Council, which is basically a feeder system
- 3:45Speaker 1: to all the teams for team presidents, team gms, and
- 3:48Speaker 1: the list goes on whether it's Brent Tillis who now
- 3:51Speaker 1: runs the Panthers, or it's Mikey Greenberg and Tampa, or
- 3:54Speaker 1: Mike Disner who is the man up in Detroit. Like
- 3:58Speaker 1: all these guys and ladies as well Jackie Davidson who's
- 4:02Speaker 1: down in Tampa, and several others. They all worked at
- 4:05Speaker 1: the Management Council at the League Office and then they
- 4:08Speaker 1: end up getting jobs at teams, whether they're the number two,
- 4:10Speaker 1: number three people in the front office. Guardy was kind
- 4:13Speaker 1: of like the guy who ran it all. Shocker to me,
- 4:16Speaker 1: Guardy's leaving the League Office to go work for the
- 4:18Speaker 1: Commanders and like what seems to be like a nebulous title,
- 4:20Speaker 1: a new title, and from what I gather, they're just
- 4:23Speaker 1: trying to bring about as many smart in the no
- 4:26Speaker 1: leaders as possible. And this is going to be a
- 4:29Speaker 1: collective decision. This isn't going to be one where the owner,
- 4:32Speaker 1: Josh Harrister says, I want this quarterback I have the
- 4:35Speaker 1: commanders sticking Jaden Daniels, LSU quarterback, the Heisman winner actually
- 4:39Speaker 1: waged in more at his pro day than anyone expected
- 4:42Speaker 1: as of today, which is Monday afternoon. I think it's
- 4:45Speaker 1: Daniels over May. I don't think it's a trade back.
- 4:48Speaker 1: They have six picks in the top one hundred, this
- 4:50Speaker 1: would be their first one, and you have Jaden Daniels,
- 4:53Speaker 1: the LSU quarterback working in Cliff Kingsbury's offense, with Adam
- 4:58Speaker 1: Peters's first selection being the Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU,
- 5:02Speaker 1: which leads to the Patriots at number three. Put them
- 5:06Speaker 1: on the clock. Patriots, you're gonna hear a lot of
- 5:09Speaker 1: trade back smoke, and it might happen. But I think
- 5:12Speaker 1: New England's new brass would actually be very comfortable with
- 5:16Speaker 1: either Daniels or May, or maybe even McCarthy. So I
- 5:20Speaker 1: could tell you they took May out to stakes at
- 5:22Speaker 1: a restaurant called Davios in Patriot Place before his Foxborough
- 5:27Speaker 1: visit and they loved him. They also loved Daniels, and
- 5:30Speaker 1: then on Sunday night it was dinner with JJ McCarthy
- 5:35Speaker 1: and he's there today Monday in Foxborough. All that is great.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I think it's going to be a quarterback, and I
- 5:41Speaker 1: think it's Drake May University of North Carolina. And I
- 5:44Speaker 1: think the Patriots Mac Jones was traded for like a
- 5:47Speaker 1: ham sandwich. He's out of the picture. They did not
- 5:50Speaker 1: have a very busy offseason. I don't understand what the
- 5:52Speaker 1: strategy has been. I think in the draft they go offense, offense, offense, offense, offense, offense,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and Drake May University of North Carolina quarterback is the
- 6:00Speaker 1: Patriots quarterback of the future, which leads to the Arizona
- 6:03Speaker 1: Cardinals at number four can stay put and they could
- 6:08Speaker 1: take Marvin Harrison Junior. They could be very happy Kyler
- 6:11Speaker 1: Murray has a receiver to gir old with and we're good.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Or the Arizona Cardinals can dangle that pick to a
- 6:19Speaker 1: host of teams who are looking to move north. When
- 6:23Speaker 1: I say move north, I mean coming from the back
- 6:25Speaker 1: of the draft up. Those teams could include the Las
- 6:29Speaker 1: Vegas Raiders to go get JJ McCarthy. That could include
- 6:33Speaker 1: the Denver Broncos to go get J. J. McCarthy. It
- 6:36Speaker 1: could include the Minnesota Vikings who have the eleven and
- 6:38Speaker 1: the twenty three to go get JJ McCarthy. But the
- 6:42Speaker 1: team that I have trading up to get JJ McCarthy
- 6:45Speaker 1: fourth overall is going to shock a lot of folks.
- 6:49Speaker 1: There is a trade made in the Arizona Cardinals give
- 6:54Speaker 1: up the fourth overall pick and in exchange get the
- 7:00Speaker 1: sixth overall pick, a third round pick, and next year's
- 7:04Speaker 1: second round pick of the New York Giants. And the
- 7:08Speaker 1: Giants move up from six to four, and it is
- 7:11Speaker 1: the Giants who select JJ McCarthy with the fourth overall pick.
- 7:17Speaker 1: They go quarterback. Daniel Jones, of course is still there,
- 7:23Speaker 1: still do forty something million this year. But I've got
- 7:25Speaker 1: the Giants and Joe Shane, who did not draft Daniel Jones,
- 7:30Speaker 1: making a move trading up and going and getting JJ
- 7:37Speaker 1: McCarthy number five the Chargers, as everyone's still in all
- 7:41Speaker 1: with their jaws on the ground to that one, Chargers
- 7:45Speaker 1: select Marvin Harrison Junior. They get the envelope in there quick.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I know some teams like neighbors more than Harrison. I
- 7:51Speaker 1: know one team likes a dooonesay more than both of them,
- 7:53Speaker 1: but I think Harrison is the pick. They got rid
- 7:56Speaker 1: of Keenan Allen in a trade they didn't sign back
- 8:00Speaker 1: Mike Williams. There is any wide receiver need. They've got
- 8:04Speaker 1: Justin Herbert, and I think im Harbaugh saw Marvin Harrison
- 8:07Speaker 1: for many years at Michigan. I like that fit. That's
- 8:10Speaker 1: the fifth overall pick. Cardinals traded back two spots. They
- 8:14Speaker 1: go in. They get Roma Dunsay at a Washington. They
- 8:18Speaker 1: get a number one guy for Kyler Murray, and they
- 8:19Speaker 1: get a smart, tough, building block player. Adunzay's awesome. He
- 8:24Speaker 1: is a blue chip number one. Cardinals pick up a
- 8:28Speaker 1: couple other picks and they get a Dounza. They also
- 8:30Speaker 1: have the Houston Texans first round pick later in the
- 8:32Speaker 1: first round. Very very big draft of the Cardinals. If
- 8:35Speaker 1: they start off with Adunza, I think that's good. Leads
- 8:38Speaker 1: to seven. Tennessee went back and forth. Here Joe Alt
- 8:41Speaker 1: the offensive tackle at a Notre Dame, or Malik Neighbors,
- 8:45Speaker 1: the electric wide receiver at LSU. I've got Tennessee taking
- 8:48Speaker 1: Joe Alt, the offensive tackle at a Notre Dame, six
- 8:51Speaker 1: foot seven, nimble son of a former NFL offensive tackle
- 8:55Speaker 1: and a towering protector of Will Levis's blindside for years
- 8:59Speaker 1: to come. You want to talk about a good offseason,
- 9:01Speaker 1: if Tennessee could add Ridley, and they could add Joe
- 9:05Speaker 1: Alt and they could you know, Tony Pollard. This is
- 9:10Speaker 1: a good offseason for the Tennessee Titans, and all is
- 9:14Speaker 1: the number one tackle in this draft Atlanta. Malik Neighbors
- 9:20Speaker 1: is sitting there. Could Atlanta possibly take him in the
- 9:24Speaker 1: same offseason they got Rondell Moore and they got Mooney,
- 9:27Speaker 1: and they also already have Drake London and they already
- 9:30Speaker 1: have taken Kyle Pitts and Bijon Robinson with first round
- 9:33Speaker 1: top ten picks. I say no, I go with Atlanta,
- 9:36Speaker 1: going with Dallas Turner, defensive end out of Alabama. They
- 9:40Speaker 1: add to the defense here. He was a three year
- 9:42Speaker 1: starter at Alabama stud I think he's the first defensive
- 9:46Speaker 1: player taken in this draft, which leads to number nine.
- 9:49Speaker 1: The Chicago Bears. They could just look at this thing
- 9:52Speaker 1: and they could take Melik Neighbors and be done with
- 9:54Speaker 1: it and be happy and walk on and continue to
- 9:57Speaker 1: keep I say they trade the pick. Bears trade the pick,
- 10:01Speaker 1: and who do they trade it to? Who's coming up?
- 10:04Speaker 1: How about that one team in the end, AFC South,
- 10:06Speaker 1: who has been very quiet with signing outside talent and
- 10:10Speaker 1: yet actually has a window to win. That's the Indianapolis Colts.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I've got the Colts moving up from fifteen to nine.
- 10:18Speaker 1: They swap a first and they give a future second.
- 10:21Speaker 1: They move up. They get neighbors the star wide out
- 10:24Speaker 1: out of LSU in an AFC South. Like I said,
- 10:26Speaker 1: that's all the Jaguars, Texans, and Titans be very aggressive
- 10:29Speaker 1: in free agency GM Chris Ballard shows he's got a
- 10:32Speaker 1: trick up his sleeve. He goes up and gets neighbors.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Now you've got Anthony Richardson at quarterback. You got Pittman
- 10:37Speaker 1: and Pierce at the wide receiver spots. Now you've got neighbors.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Who's probably your number one Jets at ten. I've heard
- 10:43Speaker 1: from a lot of people Jets are a prime prospect
- 10:45Speaker 1: to move back here. I don't see it. I've got
- 10:48Speaker 1: Brock Bowers going tenth overall to the New York Jets.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I think they stick and hold tight. I love Bowers.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I love Bowers for a year now. I think a
- 10:56Speaker 1: lot of teams love Bowers. He is by far the
- 10:59Speaker 1: number one tight end prospect in this league, in this draft,
- 11:02Speaker 1: and he also has incredible yards after catch ability. Rock
- 11:06Speaker 1: Bowers goes ten. All right to recap, Aaron, should I
- 11:08Speaker 1: go through my one to ten real quick for you
- 11:10Speaker 1: and give me your initial thoughts? Go Caleb one to
- 11:14Speaker 1: the Bears, awesome, Commanders sick, Jayden Daniels. Patriots take Drake May,
- 11:20Speaker 1: Giants trade up six to four and get JJ McCarthy
- 11:25Speaker 1: with Alt Neighbors Harrison all on the board. They go,
- 11:29Speaker 1: JJ McCarthy. Your thoughts on that one.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I think the Giants trading up to four is the
- 11:35Speaker 2: most surprising to me, because that's six to four is
- 11:39Speaker 2: not that far of a trade. And I don't know
- 11:42Speaker 2: if JJ would be gone. But man, seeing Marvin Rome
- 11:47Speaker 2: and a Duneza, I mean Marvin Rome and Neighbor's going
- 11:51Speaker 2: by nine and then Bowers at ten. It's amazing the
- 11:54Speaker 2: pass catchers that early up and like you said, Dallas
- 11:56Speaker 2: Turner the only defensive player so far.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Yeah, So Chargers five go Marvin Harrison, and then like
- 12:01Speaker 1: you said, six a Dunzay to the Cardinals. Titans take
- 12:05Speaker 1: Alt Turner two, Atlanta Neighbors nine to the Colts, and
- 12:09Speaker 1: then the Jets take Brock Bowers at ten, which leads
- 12:12Speaker 1: the Vikings at eleven. Vikings do not move up to
- 12:15Speaker 1: get JJ McCarthy. In my mind, draft, who cares. I
- 12:18Speaker 1: just don't have them giving, you know, having enough Amo,
- 12:22Speaker 1: even with the twenty third overall pick. Instead, I've got
- 12:26Speaker 1: the Vikings selecting Terry and Arnold defensive back out of Alabama.
- 12:31Speaker 1: They stay put and they get what I'm told is
- 12:34Speaker 1: a one of one kid and an all around incredible,
- 12:38Speaker 1: incredible leader. He was a red shirt sophomore, but he
- 12:41Speaker 1: arrived in Tuscaloosa as a safety, played inside and outside,
- 12:44Speaker 1: and I'm told interviews incredible and saying Sam Darnold will
- 12:49Speaker 1: be the day one starter in the scenario, because if
- 12:52Speaker 1: you're not taking a quarterback up here, you're going with
- 12:55Speaker 1: Donald who you signed for one year, ten million dollars.
- 12:58Speaker 1: They go Terryan Arnold number twelve Broncos. They miss out
- 13:02Speaker 1: on quarterbacks too. Is it too soon to take Bo
- 13:05Speaker 1: Nix or Michael Penn? I think it is. I think
- 13:08Speaker 1: they go with Leatu Latu at a UCLA Denver Broncos twelve.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Latu viewed by many as the best pure pass rusher
- 13:16Speaker 1: in this draft. I could see them saying, all right,
- 13:18Speaker 1: give them to us if he medically checks out, because
- 13:20Speaker 1: he had this Knick injury that was pretty severe. They
- 13:22Speaker 1: go with him and then maybe they move back into
- 13:25Speaker 1: the end of the first round and try to get
- 13:27Speaker 1: Nix or Pennix if it makes sense. But I got
- 13:29Speaker 1: them going lat To. We've had one offensive lineman taken
- 13:33Speaker 1: that was Joe Alt thirteen. The Vegas Raiders on the board.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I have them taking Oulu Fashanu offensive tackle at a
- 13:42Speaker 1: Penn State. Spoken with a lot of folks around the league.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Raiders need offense in a lot of ways. If they
- 13:48Speaker 1: don't get a quarterback and move up to get one,
- 13:51Speaker 1: if they don't have a chance to get neighbors of
- 13:53Speaker 1: Dounze or Harrison, look for them to go offensive line
- 13:56Speaker 1: here and Fashanu is the real deal, maybe the biggest
- 14:00Speaker 1: upside out of all these offensive tackle prospects, which leads
- 14:04Speaker 1: to the Saints at fourteen. Fourteen Saints go Tellayse Fuwanga
- 14:08Speaker 1: Oregon State. He is a tackle boo could play anywhere
- 14:10Speaker 1: on the offensive line if needed, mean streak. Teams have
- 14:13Speaker 1: loved meeting with him. Fourteen is a steal for him.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I've seen him going as as high as top ten
- 14:18Speaker 1: and other mock drafts. Fifteen Chicago traded down with Indianapolis.
- 14:21Speaker 1: We got at fifteen. Chicago got them taking Quineon Mitchell
- 14:25Speaker 1: out of Akron. Defensive back. Bear's trade back, and they
- 14:29Speaker 1: still get the stud defensive back who might go first
- 14:32Speaker 1: through all the dbs in this draft, Tim or Arnold
- 14:35Speaker 1: if the ball falls, If the board falls this way,
- 14:37Speaker 1: Mitchell spectacular dB prospect, was amazing at the Combine was
- 14:42Speaker 1: insane at the MAC. Small school guy all relative obviously,
- 14:47Speaker 1: but not a power five guy going to the top
- 14:49Speaker 1: fifteen Chicago. That would mean they get Caleb Williams, and
- 14:52Speaker 1: they would get Quineon Mitchell, and they'd pick up another
- 14:55Speaker 1: draft pick for a future draft. Sixteen Seattle, I have
- 15:00Speaker 1: them stay in local and drafting Troy Watanu, offensive tackle
- 15:04Speaker 1: at A Washington for again, big man played offensive tackle,
- 15:10Speaker 1: can also play guard if necessary. One of those guys
- 15:13Speaker 1: who I think is going to be a top twenty pick,
- 15:18Speaker 1: I've got him here going staying local, going to Seattle,
- 15:21Speaker 1: number seventeen. Jacksonville Jaguars. They take JC Latham out of Alabama.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Latham could give could go as high as being the
- 15:30Speaker 1: second offensive tackle taken. Teams like them that much. The
- 15:33Speaker 1: scenario I have him going here, which is about the fourth
- 15:35Speaker 1: offensive tackle. Again, this could all change. If I'm the Jaguars,
- 15:38Speaker 1: You're trying to keep Trevor Lawrence upright, that's the main goal,
- 15:41Speaker 1: and they'll do that here eighteen. Cincinnati Bengals got them
- 15:46Speaker 1: going defensive tackle Byron Murphy out of Texas, top interior
- 15:50Speaker 1: defensive line prospect in this class. He's interviewed well, he's
- 15:52Speaker 1: had a really good combine and pro Day. And they
- 15:55Speaker 1: got Sheldon Rankins, they got bj Hill. Those guys are
- 15:59Speaker 1: good defensive tackles inside. But Murphy's stud top twenty pick.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I think that would be a good fit there eighteen,
- 16:06Speaker 1: which leaves to the Rams at nineteen. And I'll give
- 16:10Speaker 1: you my insight on the Rams. You know, Sean McVay
- 16:12Speaker 1: has never had a first round pick since he's gotten there,
- 16:16Speaker 1: has never had a first round pick. And I assure you,
- 16:19Speaker 1: if Sean McVay is taking a first round pick, I'll
- 16:22Speaker 1: put my name on this. Sean McVay is taking an
- 16:24Speaker 1: offensive player in the first round. I've got Sean McVay
- 16:28Speaker 1: taking Tyler Geiton, the offensive tackle out of Oklahoma. This
- 16:33Speaker 1: is a guy who is super athletic but very raw.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I could see him as like the right tackle, but
- 16:39Speaker 1: give him a year and then he's the mainstay. But again,
- 16:42Speaker 1: more bodies to protect Matthew Stafford. I think Stafford's got
- 16:45Speaker 1: one to two years left. He's got all these weapons.
- 16:48Speaker 1: You love Cup, you love Nikua, you love the running back.
- 16:51Speaker 1: There are other wide receivers that they could take here,
- 16:53Speaker 1: but I'm gonna go offensive tackle, continue to protect nineteen
- 16:56Speaker 1: Rams Tyler Geyton, which goes to the Steelers. At twenty.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I have them taking wide receiver Brian Thomas Junior out
- 17:05Speaker 1: of LS. I'm still keeping an eye on Pittsburgh and
- 17:09Speaker 1: what Omarkan's going to do at wide receiver. Because you
- 17:12Speaker 1: got the quarterbacks, there was this expectation that wide receiver
- 17:16Speaker 1: was next, and in this case, I think they do
- 17:19Speaker 1: get one in the draft. I like Thomas over a
- 17:23Speaker 1: d Mitchell. I'm not sure ad Mitchell and George Pickens.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Thomas is a different type of receiver. Big got the
- 17:29Speaker 1: hands obviously, and was the combine stud. That is eleven
- 17:34Speaker 1: through twenty. Real quick, if you're listening, eleven Minnesota Vikings,
- 17:37Speaker 1: Terry and Arnold defensive back at Alabama Broncos. Twelve Leatu
- 17:42Speaker 1: Latu at a UCLA the pass rusher. Vegas thirteen takes
- 17:47Speaker 1: Olu Fashanu at a Penn State the tackle. Saints at
- 17:51Speaker 1: fourteen takes Hala si fu Wanga, the offensive tackle at
- 17:55Speaker 1: Oregon State. Chicago trade it's back and at fifteen they
- 17:59Speaker 1: get quinny On Mitchell, defensive back out at Akron sixteen,
- 18:03Speaker 1: Seattle takes Troy Fatanu out of Washington and other offensive tackle.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Jacksonville is another offensive tackle, JC Latham. Bengals go inside
- 18:11Speaker 1: on defense Byron Murphy, Rams take another offensive tackle and
- 18:15Speaker 1: Tyler Geiton and the Pittsburgh Steelers take Brian Thomas Junior,
- 18:20Speaker 1: the wide receiver out of LSU at twenty. Aaron Any
- 18:23Speaker 1: thoughts eleventh through twenty.
- 18:26Speaker 2: You know a lot of these teams here could really
- 18:29Speaker 2: be in the market for a quarterback, like you said, Denver, Vegas, Seattle,
- 18:34Speaker 2: maybe the Rams, and so it is fascinating to see
- 18:37Speaker 2: this huge stretch of teams that really really might want
- 18:42Speaker 2: to trade up, and instead it's all tackles basically. And
- 18:46Speaker 2: you know, as a Bills fan, was really hoping Brian
- 18:49Speaker 2: Thomas would last. I don't think he's gonna last to
- 18:51Speaker 2: us unless we trade up. But man, it was tough
- 18:54Speaker 2: to see him go to Pittsburgh because they draft receivers
- 18:58Speaker 2: really well. And that makes sense because I think Brian
- 19:00Speaker 2: Thomas is great.
- 19:02Speaker 1: What's interesting is Pennix and Knicks that don't have going
- 19:06Speaker 1: in the which means now they're in that back third
- 19:10Speaker 1: of the draft. You start doing tears here and you're like, okay, now,
- 19:13Speaker 1: is this where a team trades back up and goes
- 19:15Speaker 1: and gets one of those guys if they want. Let's
- 19:17Speaker 1: see twenty one Miami Dolphins. I've got Jared Verse, pass
- 19:31Speaker 1: rusher out of Florida State. This is a guy I
- 19:33Speaker 1: he can go anywhere in the top twenty five, and
- 19:34Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised. Productive pass rusher, extremely versatile at FS.
- 19:38Speaker 1: You again, down year for d line prospects. Verse could
- 19:43Speaker 1: be could be the dude I like him to the Dolphins.
- 19:46Speaker 1: They lost Van Ginkel and they also lost Christian Wilkins
- 19:51Speaker 1: this year, so that makes sense to me. All Right,
- 19:53Speaker 1: here's one that puts a smile on everyone's face. Twenty
- 19:56Speaker 1: two Philadelphia Eagles. How he's not just going to take
- 19:59Speaker 1: the best player. How he's going to make a splash.
- 20:00Speaker 1: He always does. Cooper Dijon dB out of Iowa. Is
- 20:04Speaker 1: it the Gene Dejon? I don't know. He's a white
- 20:07Speaker 1: cornerback and everyone's gonna make a big deal out of it.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And I mentioned it as the first thing, but let's
- 20:11Speaker 1: put that out of the way and just consider him
- 20:13Speaker 1: a Swiss Army knife guy. Could play corner guy, could
- 20:16Speaker 1: play safety, guy, could play special teams. He can do
- 20:19Speaker 1: it all. And he also had an incredible workout last week,
- 20:22Speaker 1: just a few months removed from a very serious injury.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Dejeene is a special teams guy if you need him
- 20:30Speaker 1: to be, I'd love him for Philly. I feel like
- 20:33Speaker 1: he'll be a fan favorite. And he's just an outstanding athlete.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I posted last week his high school basketball highlights, jumps
- 20:40Speaker 1: through the roof, And if you're Philly, it's like, let's
- 20:42Speaker 1: just add young talent. Let's just get more talent on
- 20:44Speaker 1: this thing. We've already got a bunch of young guys
- 20:46Speaker 1: who are supposed to sprout and develop on defense, defensive, backfield.
- 20:49Speaker 1: It seems like an area of need. Cooper Dejean Dijon
- 20:53Speaker 1: dejeen twenty three, Minnesota. You know what, screw it? I
- 20:57Speaker 1: have Minnesota at twenty three, taking Bo Nicks quarterback out
- 21:00Speaker 1: of Oregon. Nicks could go as high as eleven, twelve, thirteen,
- 21:04Speaker 1: or fall completely out of the first round. I don't know.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I know that teams are high on him, and everyone
- 21:08Speaker 1: I talked to you says late first, early second. If
- 21:10Speaker 1: you're in Minnesota and you didn't get a quarterback at
- 21:12Speaker 1: eleven and you got the best offensive back in this
- 21:14Speaker 1: draft in Arnold and Nix is sitting there at twenty three,
- 21:17Speaker 1: don't overthink this. If you like them, take them. If
- 21:20Speaker 1: you love them, you move up and take them. If
- 21:22Speaker 1: you don't like them and you don't love them, then
- 21:23Speaker 1: you take someone else and you just roll with Donald
- 21:25Speaker 1: and you say that's that. I don't think they're just
- 21:27Speaker 1: gonna roll with Donold and say that's that. I think
- 21:28Speaker 1: they're getting a quarterback somewhere in this draft. The twenty
- 21:31Speaker 1: third overall pick, a backstop pick. Remember the trade up
- 21:34Speaker 1: to get this selection. I thought I had was they
- 21:37Speaker 1: would package eleven and twenty three, but I don't know
- 21:39Speaker 1: if that's enough to get up into the top three
- 21:41Speaker 1: or four. Instead, they get bo Nick's quarterback out of
- 21:45Speaker 1: Oregon twenty four Dallas Cowboys, always an intriguing pick. I've
- 21:50Speaker 1: got them taken the burner from the combine. Xavier Worthy,
- 21:54Speaker 1: Texas wide receiver, the fastest man to ever run a
- 21:57Speaker 1: forty since the NFL network started broadcasting it. He also fights,
- 22:01Speaker 1: He's a competitor. I've got them getting another wide receiver
- 22:05Speaker 1: for Dak, a deep threat in this one. He'll go
- 22:08Speaker 1: with CD Lamb and hopefully they can handle the contract
- 22:10Speaker 1: stuff with CD and with Dak. This is a cheaper
- 22:13Speaker 1: pick because you get a first round talent, you can
- 22:15Speaker 1: develop them over five years. He doesn't need to get paid.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Last time they take a wide receiver in the first round,
- 22:19Speaker 1: it was Cede Lamb twenty five. Green Bay Packers. Usually
- 22:22Speaker 1: a trade back here or a defensive player. I've got
- 22:25Speaker 1: them going offense. Amarus Mims, offensive tackle at a Georgia
- 22:29Speaker 1: a massive ot, tremendous upside, but a relatively like just
- 22:34Speaker 1: a few games like a lack of experience at Georgia
- 22:36Speaker 1: and the games he did play that were big. He
- 22:38Speaker 1: was good, but he had a big injury in twenty
- 22:39Speaker 1: twenty three. This is a deep wide receiver draft, a
- 22:43Speaker 1: deep offensive line draft. I've got them scooping up another
- 22:46Speaker 1: offensive lineman to protect Jordan Love. Last several picks. Let's
- 22:50Speaker 1: go right through it and then we'll wrap it, and
- 22:52Speaker 1: then I'll tell you what we got coming up in
- 22:53Speaker 1: the coming days. Twenty six Tampa Bay got them taking
- 22:57Speaker 1: Graham Barton, offensive lineman at a Duke Tampa. I love
- 23:00Speaker 1: what they did this offseason, bringing back all those key
- 23:02Speaker 1: players and bringing back key assets from last year's divisional
- 23:05Speaker 1: round squad. We've got them taking an offensive lineman who
- 23:08Speaker 1: could play tackle. He played center at Duke also, and
- 23:10Speaker 1: I think he'll do both in the NFL if he
- 23:11Speaker 1: has to. Graham Barton to Tampa twenty six. Twenty seven,
- 23:15Speaker 1: the Cardinals their second pick of the first round. I
- 23:18Speaker 1: got them going Darius Robinson, defensive line out of Missouri,
- 23:21Speaker 1: Quietest rising prospect in this draft class. I wouldn't be
- 23:24Speaker 1: surprised if he goes top twenty at this point, I'll
- 23:26Speaker 1: be honest, everyone was talking about Robinson. If the Cardinals
- 23:30Speaker 1: can come out of this thing and get Roma Dunze
- 23:32Speaker 1: and Darius Robinson, those were two really good first round picks.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Guy at wide receiver, guy defensive line solid, which leads
- 23:39Speaker 1: to the Buffalo Bills twenty eight. Air in your team,
- 23:42Speaker 1: there's a wide receiver sitting there that could go top fifteen.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I've got them taken A. D Mitchell also known as
- 23:48Speaker 1: out An I Mitchell's full name. Tremendous player out of Texas,
- 23:52Speaker 1: big body, can compete, had a good combine. I don't
- 23:56Speaker 1: have him as high as others happened. I've seen him
- 23:58Speaker 1: go top fifteen, top sixteen. Like, I think this is
- 23:59Speaker 1: about right back end of the first round, and I
- 24:03Speaker 1: might be proven wrong. And Adam Schefter came out today
- 24:05Speaker 1: and was like, teams are way higher on him than
- 24:07Speaker 1: mock drafts. Twenty eight to the bill sounds right for me.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Ad Mitchell wide receiver, Buffalo. They got rid of Stefon
- 24:14Speaker 1: Diggs last week, Kincaid, I think they view as a
- 24:17Speaker 1: wide receiver slash tight end. Now you add this guy
- 24:19Speaker 1: in the first round who is a bawler. I like
- 24:22Speaker 1: that pick for them. Twenty nine Detroit Lions select Zach Fraser,
- 24:26Speaker 1: interior offensive lineman at A West Virginia, A four time
- 24:30Speaker 1: all state high school wrestling champion. Nasty, versatile, hungry dude.
- 24:35Speaker 1: One of those guys who will just scrap. If that's
- 24:37Speaker 1: not Dan Campbell, I don't know who is. And you
- 24:38Speaker 1: add to that offensive line. You just keep bulking it up.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Might be a little early. I think most people say
- 24:44Speaker 1: Fraser is like second or third round. I've got him
- 24:46Speaker 1: going first because it's my mock draft, and I think
- 24:48Speaker 1: Zack Frasier and Dan Campbell are like Kindred Spirits. Thirty
- 24:51Speaker 1: Baltimore Ravens best name in the draft kool Aid McKinstry
- 24:55Speaker 1: out of Alabama, defensive back. The Alabama to Baltimore pipeline
- 25:00Speaker 1: is real, even with Ozzie Newsom no longer making the
- 25:03Speaker 1: picks and it being Eric DaCosta. I also think kool
- 25:06Speaker 1: Aid can play right away and might have a bigger
- 25:08Speaker 1: impact than Harry and Arnold. In his first year, Fluid
- 25:12Speaker 1: Dude did not run the fastest forty, but like Big Smart,
- 25:15Speaker 1: it's been around. Love this for Baltimore. You add to
- 25:18Speaker 1: that backfield. Last two picks of the draft are two
- 25:21Speaker 1: fun ones for me. They're both wide receivers. Thirty one
- 25:24Speaker 1: San Francisco forty nine ers. I've got them taking Lad McConkie,
- 25:27Speaker 1: wide receiver out of Georgia. This might be the first
- 25:30Speaker 1: mock draft you see where McConkie goes in the first round. Again,
- 25:33Speaker 1: there are other guys. Troy Franklin from Oregon, Kid Conley
- 25:38Speaker 1: from or Corley from Western Kentucky. Everyone seems to love.
- 25:42Speaker 1: And of course you know you've got Keyon Coleman, the
- 25:45Speaker 1: big boy from Florida Stape. I got McConkie going to
- 25:47Speaker 1: the Niners, smart, tough, does it all. And like, gosh,
- 25:50Speaker 1: you talked to any of these Georgia people, they just
- 25:53Speaker 1: rave about him. I think he's just like a reliable
- 25:55Speaker 1: wide receiver who can run an offense. And Kyle Shanahan
- 25:59Speaker 1: is looking for that. He's not looking for a diva.
- 26:00Speaker 1: He's not looking for the guy who is the five
- 26:03Speaker 1: star recruit. He's looking for the guy who's gonna run
- 26:05Speaker 1: his offense. Lad McConkie run that offense wide receiver out
- 26:08Speaker 1: of Georgia. And then my last pick, I don't know
- 26:10Speaker 1: what's going on with the Chiefs and Rashi Rice. I
- 26:11Speaker 1: have no idea where that thing ends up. I have
- 26:13Speaker 1: them also going wide receiver, and I have them going
- 26:15Speaker 1: with a guy that I like personally, and it's Jalen Polk,
- 26:18Speaker 1: wide receiver out of Washington. He is our last pick
- 26:21Speaker 1: of the first rounds, personal favorite of mine. I keep
- 26:23Speaker 1: on talking about him. I'm gonna wheel him to the
- 26:25Speaker 1: first round. I love watching his film. I think he
- 26:28Speaker 1: is awesome, and I think he's getting no love. I
- 26:31Speaker 1: also think the Chiefs they need a wide receiver.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Now.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on with Rashih Rice. I
- 26:35Speaker 1: think that makes a lot of sense. It's not Polk,
- 26:37Speaker 1: it might be somebody else. But I think the fact
- 26:40Speaker 1: that he went to Texas Tech and then transferred to Washington,
- 26:43Speaker 1: maybe that has something to do with me putting them
- 26:45Speaker 1: in Kansas City, with Mahomes having a connection there with
- 26:47Speaker 1: the Red Raiders. That is the first round. There are
- 26:50Speaker 1: a lot of big name players, Chop Robinson, Kean Coleman.
- 26:55Speaker 1: We could go through the list, Michael Pennix that did
- 26:59Speaker 1: not get drafted in my first round, the kid Reckstraw
- 27:02Speaker 1: out of Missouri, Aaron. Any thoughts on the back end
- 27:07Speaker 1: of that first round, including your Buffalo Bills getting ad Mitchell?
- 27:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, actually, the wide receiver pairing I like
- 27:13Speaker 2: the most is Lad McConkey to the forty nine ers
- 27:15Speaker 2: does makes sense? Yeah, the forty nine ers love a
- 27:17Speaker 2: versatile offensive weapon. Mconkie's someone who people keep talking about
- 27:21Speaker 2: is like he's got to be a slot receiver. He's
- 27:23Speaker 2: got to be a he doesn't have to be a
- 27:24Speaker 2: slot receiver, and he would be amazing in that offense.
- 27:28Speaker 2: I know the news came out yesterday it broke that
- 27:31Speaker 2: I you could request the trade, and then his agent
- 27:33Speaker 2: was like, no, he thank you.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I don't say the news broke. I say a rumor
- 27:36Speaker 1: hit the internview.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Yes, a rumor, yes, exactly quote unquote news. But yeah,
- 27:40Speaker 2: lad on the forty nine ers just seems like the
- 27:44Speaker 2: one other than Zach Fraser to the Lions, which I
- 27:46Speaker 2: agree with you, is like that just sounds like, you know,
- 27:49Speaker 2: the Lions took two players last year that we thought
- 27:52Speaker 2: went way earlier than expected and they worked out really well.
- 27:56Speaker 1: So that was kind of my justification there, like I'm
- 27:58Speaker 1: putting a player that I think fits the culture that's
- 28:00Speaker 1: in sideline backern or running back brat Homes. Maybe our
- 28:02Speaker 1: best interview last off season talking about those picks, similar
- 28:05Speaker 1: to he'll that was my first mock draft. It goes
- 28:09Speaker 1: live on NFL dot Com Tuesday morning. I'll do a
- 28:12Speaker 1: little media around that, but we're not done this week.
- 28:15Speaker 1: This will go up Monday, so you'll have this Monday
- 28:18Speaker 1: on your commutes, and you know Tuesday morning to work.
- 28:22Speaker 1: But I am going to go over to the to
- 28:24Speaker 1: the other end of the spectrum, and I'm going to
- 28:27Speaker 1: reach into the Bristol, Connecticut pool of talent, and I
- 28:31Speaker 1: am going to tap on my buddy field Yates, who
- 28:35Speaker 1: has taken on a bigger role. And then ESPN's draft
- 28:38Speaker 1: coverage and the two of us tomorrow are going to
- 28:41Speaker 1: record a live mock draft and we're gonna do as
- 28:44Speaker 1: many of these as we can before the draft next week,
- 28:46Speaker 1: where it's one of us has taken the odd numbers,
- 28:49Speaker 1: one taken the even numbers, probably won't do any trades,
- 28:51Speaker 1: and it's like a game of ping pong, and we
- 28:53Speaker 1: have no prep between the two of us. We haven't
- 28:55Speaker 1: spoken between the two of us. And where the chips fall,
- 28:57Speaker 1: the chips fall. I think it's fun audio, it's good
- 29:00Speaker 1: to listen to, and it's a good exercise as the
- 29:03Speaker 1: draft comes. But let me promise you this, there will
- 29:06Speaker 1: be it's in the rail draft. There will be crazy
- 29:08Speaker 1: things that happen, and all these mock drafts, it's just
- 29:10Speaker 1: to give you an idea of where some guys might
- 29:13Speaker 1: land and kind of there's the region. But you know,
- 29:18Speaker 1: once the trades start happening. It's like throwing a needle
- 29:22Speaker 1: in a haystack, but I love doing it. I spent
- 29:24Speaker 1: a lot of time on the phones this past weekend. Aaron,
- 29:28Speaker 1: I'll see you tomorrow. We're gonna do this thing again,
- 29:30Speaker 1: but I wanted to get this one up on Monday.
- 29:32Speaker 1: A lot of me talking tomorrow will be with you.
- 29:34Speaker 1: We'll have a field on and we'll chop it up
- 29:37Speaker 1: some more. But the big headline here JJ McCarthy to
