- 0:01Speaker 1: Hello everyone, welcome to Empower your Soul podcast.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I'm your host, nicole Pope, and I am so excited to be here today on my very first episode, and I'm obviously grateful for all of you listeners who are taking the time and giving me a chance today.
- 0:18Speaker 1: So I just want to say thank you so much.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I really appreciate it.
- 0:21Speaker 1: You so much, I really appreciate it.
- 0:27Speaker 1: And in today's episode I wanted to talk about why am I making this podcast.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I thought intros would be a good way to start but, honestly, I had a couple of spiritual divine guidance here and I'm going to instead refocus on why I'm making this podcast and why I want you all to empower your souls on whatever your journey is.
- 0:41Speaker 1: And I want to start out that you know I've been doing this for a few years now.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I've been doing Evidential Mediumship, spiritual Connections, spirit Guide, akashic Records.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I've been doing this journey for a few years now.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Again, I'll get into my background on the next episode, but starting my journey was so difficult.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It was so difficult because, as you're starting your journey and you realize you have this awakening and you realize that there's something bigger, something greater than you out there, you have this amazing heart-filled, heart-centered desire to improve who you are and what you're here to do.
- 1:23Speaker 1: To improve who you are and what you're here to do.
- 1:28Speaker 1: You truly have this desire to come into alignment with yourself, to be your highest and best self here in this physical world.
- 1:33Speaker 1: But a lot of people have no idea how to start that journey, including myself, and I would actually argue most of the spiritual quote unquote.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Leaders out there have all started the same way, right?
- 1:46Speaker 1: We all kind of had this idea that there's something greater than ourselves and we needed to take that blind step of faith in figuring out.
- 1:54Speaker 1: How do we start engaging, how do we start coming into our own, how do we start coming into alignment?
- 2:01Speaker 1: So a lot of everybody you know begins to find social media.
- 2:06Speaker 1: You know, you start following people on social media, you start listening to podcasts, maybe you start taking classes, reading books, but again, there's no easy or set path to start.
- 2:19Speaker 1: So it's such a challenging process when you start this path.
- 2:25Speaker 1: So let me go into some of the things that I've seen, I've been through on why starting your I'm going to call it an empowerment journey, because I don't think it's all spiritually based, and I think spiritual is a big part of it, but I don't think it's the only thing I'm going to talk about what is so challenging for most of us starting in this empowerment journey.
- 2:48Speaker 1: So, number one, as you're starting to try to find sorry, sounded like a prepubescent boy there try to find somebody to follow, someone to teach you.
- 2:58Speaker 1: There are so many visible professionals.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'm going to quote that, by the way.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Quote professionals in this space that you might try out right?
- 3:11Speaker 1: So if the I mean in every other industry, you know those big, popular people are the ones that are the leaders.
- 3:18Speaker 1: They're tried and true, they've been through it and you always want to follow those type of leaders in the beginning of your process, just to understand, you know, what was successful for them.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Obviously, they've been through the whole journey.
- 3:30Speaker 1: How can I learn from them?
- 3:31Speaker 1: So the first thing you tend to do is go find these people.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Go find them on social media again, find them on podcasts, find them in books, find their classes.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But the problem is, it's so difficult to find who the true professionals are, and when I say true professionals, I mean the ethical ones, I mean the ones who are in it for the right reasons, those that are in alignment, that are not coming from their ego.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It is so hard to find who those professionals are because, especially at the beginning of your journey, you're just not sure.
- 4:04Speaker 1: You're not sure if these are the people that are in alignment and you don't really have the tools under your tool belt to figure that out yet.
- 4:12Speaker 1: So, number one belt to figure that out yet.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So, number one, weeding through all of those charlatans on social media and podcasts is really hard to do because everyone is so salesy and gimmicky and it's really hard to know who you can trust to teach you all the things that you want to learn.
- 4:29Speaker 1: But step two when you finally find someone that you think is great, that you want to learn from, that is awe-inspiring for you.
- 4:39Speaker 1: And this happened to me on my journey Apologies, if that teacher is listening you might find that they're uneducated, that they're very confusing.
- 4:51Speaker 1: You might find, because there's something about spirituality and ego and I'm sure we will go down that rabbit hole at some point in this series but you might find that these teachers don't want you to be better than them.
- 5:06Speaker 1: There's so much ego, there's so much ego in the spiritual world, so you might think everything's hunky-dory and then you realize they're not teaching you the things that they said they were going to teach you and sign up for the next class, right, sales gimmick 101, right there, by the way or they might send you down this spiraling rabbit hole of not yet you can't give readings yet, you're not good enough.
- 5:30Speaker 1: You're under the guise that they want to help you, but in fact they just want you to line their pockets with money, right, and as a result, I have seen lots of students who have followed this path and spent thousands and thousands of dollars to these teachers that are unethical, uneducated, very egocentric and trying to make them come into alignment with that teacher and following what they say are the rules, how they're supposed to learn, and following their path.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And that leads to kind of step three is this spiritual codependency on these losers and I'm going to say losers because that's what they are, because they think that they hold the key, the secret, the unwritten information it is so hard the spiritual journey and the empowerment journey.
- 6:26Speaker 1: There's lots of books and they all say different and contrasting things, right?
- 6:31Speaker 1: But if you find the right teacher and you follow them, you think that they have all the answers.
- 6:36Speaker 1: And not only that, you seek their approval, their validation.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I'm showing up to every class I'm doing things their way.
- 6:44Speaker 1: They say great job, it feels really good, and what ends up happening is you become the perpetual student, always afraid to move on and move up.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I can't even tell you how many times I have seen perpetual students in all of the classes I have taken.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You know people that have been with these teachers for 10, 15 years and they're still in the same place.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a problem, it's a problem.
- 7:11Speaker 1: And then I guess step four, where I want to go, is that what you're learning from them is might end up being so far out of alignment for you and your journey.
- 7:27Speaker 1: And let me go down a little story time with a recent client I had and she was lovely, I loved this client.
- 7:34Speaker 1: She was such a heart centered, amazing client who really just wanted to find alignment in her life and come into her true, authentic self because everything was going wrong.
- 7:45Speaker 1: It was like Murphy's law.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Everything that could go wrong in this woman's life was going wrong.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And I got on the phone with her and I asked her you know, have you had a spiritual reading before?
- 7:58Speaker 1: She wasn't even sure what she wanted to do with me, which is totally fine.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I have clients that do that.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But she was.
- 8:02Speaker 1: You know, we were talking about her journey and I'm trying to figure out what, how I can help her best.
- 8:05Speaker 1: And she's like yeah, you know, I've done this, I've met, I've met all my spirit animals.
- 8:09Speaker 1: You know, I did an eight hour shamanic journey.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Eight hour shamanic journey.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Have any of you been on a shamanic journey before?
- 8:28Speaker 1: I mean 15 minutes is enough to blow your mind.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Eight hours of it.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And she said how she cried coming out of it.
- 8:30Speaker 1: And so, number one, that actually sounds amazing.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I need to try that sometime.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I don't think my ADHD brain has the time for it or the focus for it, but you have this woman who has spent thousands of dollars going to other mediums, going to other classes, doing an eight-hour shamanic journey and she is so far out of alignment with who she is.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And it's just heartbreaking.
- 8:54Speaker 1: It's heartbreaking that people are learning the tools but not learning the application and how best it fits with them in their journey.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And what's so limiting for everybody is that some people can't reach that full potential until they do the work and resolve the traumas.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And I realized that's a lot, that's a very loaded statement, but some people you know don't need to do the work that can, that you need to move forward to.
- 9:23Speaker 1: But I would just say sometimes the phrase trust the journey can be the worst thing that you can do if you're on the wrong path.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah, are we depressed yet?
- 9:38Speaker 1: Don't be, I promise.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I promise.
- 9:43Speaker 1: That's why I'm here to help, because I came from a background and again I'll get into that next episode where I came to recognize all of these enormous red flags, and I learned all of these red flags before my spiritual empowerment journey even started.
- 9:59Speaker 1: So we'll talk about that too.
- 10:01Speaker 1: But here's my view I didn't want this path of inefficiency, of egocentric, of following the wrong leaders, of learning things that are so far out of alignment.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I did not want to waste my money, I did not want to waste my time, I did not want to disempower my own journey by depending on others, and these are all lessons that I have learned again before I embarked on this journey.
- 10:27Speaker 1: So I am so thankful that I learned those red flags before I came to the spiritual journey, because you know what?
- 10:36Speaker 1: They're even harder to see on this other side of the house on the spiritual empowerment side of the house, it is so hard because you want to believe.
- 10:44Speaker 1: All of these leaders, all of these professionals are coming from this heart-centered, amazing, wanting you to live your best life, wanting you to live in alignment, best self perspective, when, in reality, most of them are not like that.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Most of them don't want that.
- 11:00Speaker 1: They want your money, they want your time, they want your resources, they want you as a codependent person that keeps coming back and back and back.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So that's what I'm here for all of you to do, whether it's listeners of this podcast, whether it's my clients, my mentees, my friends.
- 11:17Speaker 1: This is what I am here to do, and I know it's true because I sobbed watching Frozen 2.
- 11:25Speaker 1: , completely sobbed.
- 11:28Speaker 1: When she found out little bit of a sidebar, when she found out that she was the person Elsa found out she was the person she was looking for, I cried like a baby she was looking for.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I cried like a baby and I don't cry.
- 11:47Speaker 1: So I know that this is my life's journey is to empower people to be their best selves, and that means I'm going to talk about the difficult subjects.
- 11:53Speaker 1: I'm going to break it down so that you can understand them in a very easy way, so you don't waste all your time and money learning from somebody who maybe wants to make it very complicated, when a lot of these difficult subjects are not complicated at all.
- 12:07Speaker 1: You just need to take a leap of faith and realize that not everything's going to fit in a box and you need to figure out your own way that this aligns to you.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I'm going to teach you how to find your own validation and path so that you don't become codependent on others, so that you're not constantly looking for validation from others.
- 12:26Speaker 1: You need to bring that validation from within and know that you're on the right path, because no one else can give you validation except yourself.
- 12:34Speaker 1: If someone else is giving you validation, that means that you are seeking their approval and that you are following what they think is best for you.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Let me say that again they think is best for you, not what your right path is, not what your right journey is.
- 12:54Speaker 1: You're looking for them to tell you you did it right.
- 12:56Speaker 1: And who's going to be the person who can tell you that you did it right?
- 12:59Speaker 1: It's not someone else.
- 13:00Speaker 1: It's got to be you.
- 13:01Speaker 1: So I would love for you to come along with me on this journey so that I can teach you how to find your own validation, how to find your own path, how to realize when something doesn't feel right with a teacher and it's okay that it doesn't feel right with a teacher and what do you do about that and how do you reconcile that and kind of bring yourself into your highest and best alignment so that you don't end up becoming the followers of these leaders who just aren't aligned with your highest good?
- 13:27Speaker 1: So I mean, let's be honest too.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I'm a girl from, you know, outside of Boston, so I'm going to give you a lot of tough love too.
- 13:35Speaker 1: There will be a lot of, probably, swears, a lot of wickeds sorry about that and a lot of tough love, because that's what empowerment and growth looks like.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So I you know, overall, I just want to say I don't really care where you are in your journey.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I don't care if you're a skeptic.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I don't care if you're a spiritual seeker.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I don't care if you're like fully drinking all the Kool-Aid and a full on blown up, like spiritualist, that's well, on your journey, I don't care.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I don't care if you've been doing this your whole life.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I don't care if you've never done a day of spiritual work.
- 14:08Speaker 1: It really doesn't matter to me, as long as you are here to empower your soul and that's my goal for all of you in this podcast.
- 14:19Speaker 1: As always, I say that, but this is the first episode, so let me rewind.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I just want you to know that I will hold space for every single one of you on this amazing journey of yours and if, at any point, you have questions, concerns, if there's something I said that isn't in alignment, oh, challenge me.
- 14:44Speaker 1: I love a challenge.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I'm totally here for that.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I'm here for the heckling.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I know who I am and I am not afraid of different opinions, agreements, whatever it is.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Bring it my way.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I would love to chat it out.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I know that I am not the perfect person.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I know that I am not the smartest person.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I know that I am not going to be the person for everybody, but use me as someone to gut, check against someone, to push against someone that's going to challenge you to think differently and teach you things that just haven't been able to click in your mind.
- 15:16Speaker 1: So I honestly want this to be a podcast that is communal and collaborative, and I would love to get emails and messages and ideas for shows, because I'm here to teach you and a lot of the times, I'm going to use spirit to just guide me into some of what these conversations are and what these podcast episodes are going to be like, but I'm open to everything.
- 15:39Speaker 1: So I truly honestly encourage you all to trust me on your journey.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I promise I'm not a charlatan.
- 15:46Speaker 1: We'll get into that into the next episode.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Trust me, challenge me, let me know what you want to talk about.
- 15:55Speaker 1: That's what I'm here for today.
- 15:56Speaker 1: So, again, I just want to thank all of you for being here and choosing to empower your soul today.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Take care.
