- 0:48Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's Word with notes, quotes,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and stories along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:03Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:06Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that he has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. In Lamentations
- 1:12Speaker 1: Chapter three, verses twenty two and twenty three, we read,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed,
- 1:20Speaker 1: for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Great is your faithfulness. Now, if you miss a portion
- 1:27Speaker 1: of today's broadcast or would like to recommend it to
- 1:29Speaker 1: a friend, you can hear this program anytime online at
- 1:33Speaker 1: Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus, who existing
- 1:45Speaker 2: in the form of God, did not consider equality with
- 1:48Speaker 2: God as something to be used for his own advantage. Instead,
- 1:53Speaker 2: he emptied himself by assuming the form of a slave,
- 1:59Speaker 2: taking on the lafe rightness of men. And when he
- 2:02Speaker 2: had come as a man in his external form, he
- 2:07Speaker 2: humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death,
- 2:12Speaker 2: even to death on a cross. Philippians, Chapter two, verses
- 2:20Speaker 2: five through eight. Being selfless centered, it is nearly impossible
- 2:29Speaker 2: to remain self centered while serving the deep needs of
- 2:33Speaker 2: another person. The apostle Paul states that we are to
- 2:38Speaker 2: do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility
- 2:43Speaker 2: consider others as more important than ourselves. Jesus set an
- 2:49Speaker 2: example for us when he got up from the meal
- 2:53Speaker 2: at the Last Supper and got down on his knees
- 2:57Speaker 2: to wash the feet of his disciple. Since people wore
- 3:02Speaker 2: sandals and even walked barefoot on dusty roads, they needed
- 3:07Speaker 2: to clean their feet when they entered a house. Usually
- 3:11Speaker 2: a servant would perform this dirty chore, but Jesus assigned
- 3:17Speaker 2: the service to himself. Menial work was not beneath Jesus,
- 3:23Speaker 2: and we are encouraged to follow jesus example. Make your
- 3:27Speaker 2: own attitude that of Christ. Jesus, who existing in the
- 3:31Speaker 2: form of God, did not consider equality with God something
- 3:37Speaker 2: to be used for his own advantage. Instead, he emptied
- 3:42Speaker 2: himself by assuming the form of a slave serving others.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Begins with forgetting yourself with your own needs out of
- 3:53Speaker 2: the way, followed Jesus example, and look for the other
- 3:57Speaker 2: person's needs. Jesus said, so, if I, your Lord and teacher,
- 4:03Speaker 2: have washed your feet, you should also wash one another's feet.
- 4:09Speaker 2: That's in John chapter thirteen and verse fourteen.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 4:17Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to
- 4:19Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard k. You can hear
- 4:22Speaker 1: this message in its entirety again online as well as
- 4:25Speaker 1: Richard's entire archive at Talknetwork Radio dot com. We would
- 4:30Speaker 1: like to acknowledge our theme song, how Great Is Thy
- 4:33Speaker 1: Faithfulness from the America's twenty five Favorite Hymns album unless otherwise.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Express scriptures are read from the Holman Christian Standard Bible,
- 4:42Speaker 1: which is published by Homan Bible Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Additional resources used for Reflections on the Word with Richard
- 4:50Speaker 1: Kay include Great Is Thy Faithfulness by Our Daily Bread
- 4:54Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 4:58Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Think about how many relationships God can transform if we
- 5:07Speaker 2: simply emphasize the other person's needs over our own. Is
- 5:13Speaker 2: there someone perhaps whose feet have been made dirty by
- 5:18Speaker 2: this world and its cruelty? As we become selfless centered,
- 5:24Speaker 2: God will provide countless opportunities to serve the needs of others,
- 5:30Speaker 2: and in so doing, others will recognize Jesus' love and
- 5:36Speaker 2: be drawn to him. So, if I, your lord and teacher,
- 5:41Speaker 2: have washed your feet, you should also wash one another's feet.
- 5:47Speaker 2: For I have given you an example that you also
- 5:52Speaker 2: should do, just as I have done for you. John
- 5:58Speaker 2: Chapter thirteen and verses fourteen to fifteen. And that is
- 6:05Speaker 2: today's Reflection on the Word.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 6:12Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Word with
- 6:15Speaker 1: Richard k or Richard and the entire team. This is
- 6:18Speaker 1: Chuck Christie saying thanks for listening to this edition of
- 6:21Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word.
