- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome to jag Vam on the surd Van sat down
- 0:18Speaker 1: in seasons Brian Sexton John Oser with us this morning
- 0:21Speaker 1: as we get ready for the first Divisional matchup of
- 0:23Speaker 1: the season for the Jaguars.
- 0:24Speaker 2: The Texans are coming to town in week three, so
- 0:26Speaker 2: let's start out with our big Things, brought to you
- 0:28Speaker 2: by g e h A Government.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Employees Health Association bounce Back.
- 0:32Speaker 2: We talked to Tom this week about Brian Thomas Senior's
- 0:34Speaker 2: performance against the Bengals being subpar, but his quarterback cover
- 0:38Speaker 2: lawrences He's not worried about it.
- 0:41Speaker 4: It's football, I mean, it just it doesn't always go perfect.
- 0:43Speaker 3: You know.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Obviously we would love to start off hot these first
- 0:47Speaker 4: two games and our connection be you know, ripping and
- 0:50Speaker 4: me finding them everywhere and him having a great year
- 0:52Speaker 4: and all those things. But I mean we're in week two, everybody,
- 0:56Speaker 4: so I think we can all just take a deep breath,
- 0:59Speaker 4: give beat a little. You know, He's he's.
- 1:01Speaker 5: Going to be just fine.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Not worried about him at all. It's just something we
- 1:04Speaker 4: got to continue to work at and you know, we're
- 1:06Speaker 4: gonna have a good plan for him each week to
- 1:08Speaker 4: be involved. And he's too good of a player to
- 1:11Speaker 4: not you know, be involved and make those plays down
- 1:14Speaker 4: the field that we all know he can make and
- 1:16Speaker 4: got all the confidence in the world in him and
- 1:17Speaker 4: excited for there's another opportunity for him this week.
- 1:19Speaker 5: To get going.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Brian. Everyone's staying calm here. We're expecting a bounce back.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Though.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I think we heard from BT in the locker room yesterday.
- 1:28Speaker 2: His demeanor seems better. I think everyone's expecting him to
- 1:31Speaker 2: turn the page going FORWA We were recired listening.
- 1:32Speaker 6: If we'd had this conversation before training camp, begat who
- 1:35Speaker 6: is the player that you're most confident in what he
- 1:38Speaker 6: can do on Sunday afternoons, I think Brian Thomas Junior
- 1:41Speaker 6: would have been at we're near the top of the list.
- 1:43Speaker 5: I still feel that way.
- 1:45Speaker 6: I'm asked, as I'm sure you guys are everywhere you go, Hey,
- 1:48Speaker 6: what's up with number seven? None of us really know.
- 1:51Speaker 6: And according to Trevor and according to Liam and then
- 1:55Speaker 6: yesterday Brian in the locker room.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Nothing. He's just got to get on track. So there's
- 1:59Speaker 5: no duty for him to bounce back. They need him
- 2:01Speaker 5: to bounce back.
- 2:02Speaker 6: John though he's got a huge challenge this week because
- 2:04Speaker 6: the corner who's going to line up across from him.
- 2:06Speaker 6: Darryl Stingley Junior is as good a corner as there
- 2:09Speaker 6: is in the NFL. He might be the best corner
- 2:11Speaker 6: in the NFL. So this week, getting back on track
- 2:14Speaker 6: is going to require Brian Thomas Junior to play at
- 2:17Speaker 6: his best.
- 2:17Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean and frankly, if he has a drops
- 2:21Speaker 7: on Sunday, I don't think anybody's really concerned. But he's
- 2:24Speaker 7: got to go strong for the ball in traffic and
- 2:26Speaker 7: he didn't do that last week for whatever reason. Maybe
- 2:30Speaker 7: it was the risk that was on the report this week,
- 2:32Speaker 7: maybe who knows, but he didn't and until he does that,
- 2:36Speaker 7: it's going to be a topic. I think he will
- 2:38Speaker 7: do that. I'm not really worried about it, but Kyle,
- 2:41Speaker 7: we have to see it.
- 2:43Speaker 3: We're gonna have an opportunity.
- 2:44Speaker 2: This Sunday ties into our second big thing, which is
- 2:46Speaker 2: bully the bullies.
- 2:47Speaker 3: The Texans have.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Been the bullies of the division for a while now,
- 2:50Speaker 2: but the Jaguars are going to try to make a
- 2:52Speaker 2: claim and set the tongue going forward. Liam Cohen talked
- 2:56Speaker 2: a little bit about what the Texans pass RUSS can do,
- 2:58Speaker 2: but also what he's expecting from the off and fly.
- 3:02Speaker 8: Being in that division in LA with San fran right,
- 3:06Speaker 8: very very similar structure, the way that they come off
- 3:10Speaker 8: the rock, the way that they want to disrupt. We
- 3:13Speaker 8: have got to have another sound plan when it comes
- 3:15Speaker 8: to protecting the quarterback, but also in the run game,
- 3:20Speaker 8: you know, manufacture in different ways to manipulate those guys.
- 3:24Speaker 8: Like I said, it takes all eleven, but specifically the
- 3:27Speaker 8: way that they want to roll off and come off
- 3:29Speaker 8: the rock and play talented. Got a lot of respect
- 3:33Speaker 8: for the way that those guys play the game and
- 3:35Speaker 8: can be very disruptive, Brian.
- 3:38Speaker 2: The Texas specifically on defense has been very physical. They
- 3:41Speaker 2: like to set that tone, try to intimidate, dominate early.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Is this an opportunity for the Jaguars to come out
- 3:47Speaker 2: and be physical and kind of show themselves as well.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Well.
- 3:49Speaker 5: Absolutely it is.
- 3:50Speaker 6: And of course the cheap hit last year by zero
- 3:53Speaker 6: the linebacker gives them that sort of.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Juice, I suppose. But the Jaguars have.
- 3:59Speaker 6: The number one rushing game in the NFL two weeks in,
- 4:03Speaker 6: and I get it, it's a small sample, but when
- 4:05Speaker 6: you consider that Liam Cohen said the day that he
- 4:07Speaker 6: signed on as the head coach here that that was
- 4:09Speaker 6: his priority, and when you consider how ineffective the running
- 4:13Speaker 6: game has been the last two years, to go from
- 4:15Speaker 6: near the bottom to the top in just two weeks
- 4:18Speaker 6: is a really good sign that the Jaguars can come
- 4:20Speaker 6: out and punch the Texans in the mouth figuratively and
- 4:24Speaker 6: get what they want done done. It also helps that
- 4:27Speaker 6: their run defense is top five right now, giving up just.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Over eighty yards per game.
- 4:31Speaker 6: The Jaguars were going to change their personality under Liam Cohen.
- 4:35Speaker 6: I didn't know that it would get done so quickly,
- 4:36Speaker 6: but it's been good to see.
- 4:38Speaker 3: All right. Our final big thing today is going to
- 4:39Speaker 3: be more of the same.
- 4:40Speaker 2: We've talked a ton about what this defense has looked
- 4:42Speaker 2: like for the Jaguars this year compared to last year,
- 4:45Speaker 2: and takeaways has been the name of the game.
- 4:47Speaker 3: John.
- 4:47Speaker 2: When you see that, you know they're mirroring their totals
- 4:50Speaker 2: of takeaways from last year. I have to imagine that's
- 4:52Speaker 2: still going to be a focus going into this one.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Trying to get extra opportunities for the offense.
- 4:56Speaker 7: Yeah, and stopping the runs. Heeded at when you stopped
- 4:59Speaker 7: the ryn, you put teams in passing situations when you
- 5:02Speaker 7: know teams are gonna pass, you have a bigger chance
- 5:04Speaker 7: to intercepting the ball. Look, I don't expect them to
- 5:08Speaker 7: get three takeaways a game that's fifty one and that
- 5:10Speaker 7: starts to get up into stratospheric all time stuff. I
- 5:13Speaker 7: do expect them to be a disruptive defense that is
- 5:17Speaker 7: watching the ball when it's in the air because they're
- 5:19Speaker 7: in zone a lot. So I think they'll get takeaways.
- 5:22Speaker 7: They've never intercepted C. J.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Stroud.
- 5:25Speaker 7: You're not going to continue or you're not gonna be
- 5:29Speaker 7: able to beat a team very often if you never
- 5:32Speaker 7: intercept their quarterbacks.
- 5:33Speaker 5: It's a big storyline.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Sounds like we're do John, That's what exactly what it
- 5:36Speaker 3: sounds like. I'll stay with us here.
- 5:37Speaker 2: We're gonna hear more from behind Enemy Lines as we
- 5:39Speaker 2: go and talk to one of the Texans analysts to
- 5:41Speaker 2: learn about the far Brought to you by Field Auto Group,
- 5:47Speaker 2: Seafields first Jackson's premiere luxury auto group, but a Field
- 5:50Speaker 2: Auto dot Com. Welcome into Behind Enemy Lines this week
- 5:55Speaker 2: where we check in with the Jaguars opponent for this week.
- 5:57Speaker 2: So we're checking with John Harris from Texans Radio and
- 6:00Speaker 2: many other text and things. John, thanks for joining us.
- 6:02Speaker 2: We know it's a short week for you.
- 6:04Speaker 9: Yeah, that is short you when that Monday night game hits,
- 6:06Speaker 9: and then all day yesterday I kept thinking it was Monday.
- 6:09Speaker 5: I'm like, yeah, it's Monday. Like wait a second, No,
- 6:11Speaker 5: it's Tuesday.
- 6:11Speaker 9: So yeah, the short week is never really fun. And
- 6:14Speaker 9: then we got to go on the road at the
- 6:15Speaker 9: end of it. That doesn't help either. So yeah, it's
- 6:18Speaker 9: it's gonna be a collective effort to kind of reset and
- 6:21Speaker 9: get ready for Sunday.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Tough start for you guys, obviously. Oh and two playing
- 6:24Speaker 2: well but just not quite getting to that. What are
- 6:27Speaker 2: the things that need to really be focused on in
- 6:29Speaker 2: week three from your perspective to get the win.
- 6:32Speaker 9: Yeah, it's really a lot of simple fundamentals, you know.
- 6:35Speaker 9: On the final drive, Baker was able to take advantage
- 6:39Speaker 9: of us.
- 6:39Speaker 5: The bucks were.
- 6:40Speaker 9: Because we didn't tackle well. We missed a couple of
- 6:43Speaker 9: key tackles. We missed a tackle on fourth and tent
- 6:45Speaker 9: on Baker, and then a little while later Bucky Irving
- 6:48Speaker 9: picked up another ten twelve yards on a checkdown route
- 6:52Speaker 9: that if we make a tackle, Yeah, who knows whether
- 6:54Speaker 9: they can get in the end zone at that point,
- 6:56Speaker 9: but he gets another ten to fifteen yards another mistackle.
- 6:59Speaker 9: We're doing some of the fundamental things wrong defensively, even
- 7:03Speaker 9: though guys are playing hard.
- 7:06Speaker 5: I think in a sense.
- 7:07Speaker 9: If I were to put this kind of in a
- 7:09Speaker 9: music analogy, it's like we want to bang our head
- 7:11Speaker 9: like it's Metallica, and we need to chill out a
- 7:13Speaker 9: little bit more like it's shut a. So I think
- 7:17Speaker 9: that probably needs to happen a little bit and kind
- 7:18Speaker 9: of focus on the fundamentals.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I think.
- 7:20Speaker 9: Offensively, you know, there are some bright spots, but it's
- 7:22Speaker 9: just kind of hit or miss. You know, there's the
- 7:24Speaker 9: first drive, which was incredible against the Tampa Bay, but
- 7:29Speaker 9: then there are just periods of you know, starting stop
- 7:32Speaker 9: that we just can't really kind of get out of
- 7:34Speaker 9: our own way. So first year Ofvins coordinator, first year
- 7:37Speaker 9: play caller, a lot of new pieces offensively, and it
- 7:39Speaker 9: just hasn't clicked yet. So you know, it's gonna be
- 7:42Speaker 9: tough to do against the defense. Athletic, but that's really
- 7:45Speaker 9: what the charge is for us. Week three, taken out Jacksonville.
- 7:49Speaker 2: When you look at the offense, obviously Nikailee and there
- 7:52Speaker 2: new kind of a new form for you guys. How
- 7:55Speaker 2: much of do you guys miss Joe mixing right now?
- 7:57Speaker 2: And then also do you how do you see this game?
- 8:00Speaker 2: Kind of not the scheme, but how do you see
- 8:01Speaker 2: the game plan changing a little bit? Taken on the
- 8:03Speaker 2: Jaguars this week.
- 8:05Speaker 9: You know, Joe was really good because their offense live
- 8:08Speaker 9: was not great last year. Joe was really good at
- 8:10Speaker 9: creating his own yards.
- 8:11Speaker 3: And I don't know that.
- 8:15Speaker 5: We're missing a ton.
- 8:17Speaker 9: I mean, it would be great to have Joe back,
- 8:18Speaker 9: because I think you could have a I mean, there's
- 8:21Speaker 9: a lot of focus that would go to Joe. But
- 8:23Speaker 9: I just think right now where we're missing is really
- 8:26Speaker 9: blitz pick up passing game. Guys can get open and
- 8:30Speaker 9: the protection's not great protections great guys can get open.
- 8:33Speaker 5: It's more I think that.
- 8:35Speaker 9: Yeah, it would be great to have Joe back, and
- 8:37Speaker 9: I think he would give you that. But Nick chev
- 8:38Speaker 9: has given us, you know, a little something. His pass
- 8:41Speaker 9: protection has been fantastic, you know what. He marks the
- 8:43Speaker 9: rookie from Mississippi State and USC has really done some
- 8:47Speaker 9: good things for us. So I don't know, it's funny
- 8:49Speaker 9: because as you know, you hear people talk about the
- 8:52Speaker 9: team locally, You're right about the team. You know, Joe
- 8:54Speaker 9: Mix's name has not been brought up a lot, And
- 8:56Speaker 9: I don't know if that's just being resolute to the
- 8:59Speaker 9: fact that he's not here or that we don't miss
- 9:02Speaker 9: him that much. But I think our offensive issues really
- 9:05Speaker 9: are not about missing Joe. I think it's more about
- 9:09Speaker 9: just fundamentals and learning the new scheme the way that
- 9:13Speaker 9: Nick Haley wants it to be.
- 9:16Speaker 2: When you guys are game planning, I think Demika might
- 9:18Speaker 2: have mentioned this, but you know, taking on the Rams
- 9:20Speaker 2: in week one, in the Bucks in week two, Liam
- 9:22Speaker 2: Collen working in both those places very much catered to
- 9:25Speaker 2: the places that he's been before. Does that help kind
- 9:28Speaker 2: of game planning when you're going up against what looks
- 9:30Speaker 2: to be a similar scheme.
- 9:32Speaker 5: Yes, and No.
- 9:33Speaker 9: Monday Night we didn't stop that scheme at all. I mean,
- 9:36Speaker 9: they stuffed the ball right down our throats. They had
- 9:39Speaker 9: a lot of runs that we were unable to account for.
- 9:43Speaker 9: They ran, you know, different counters, different buck sweeps, different
- 9:46Speaker 9: things that I know that Liam is sitting there going, oh,
- 9:49Speaker 9: we can do this, and they've got the running backs
- 9:52Speaker 9: to do it. And I think they've got even better
- 9:54Speaker 9: running backs with Etn and Basehelle Touton, who I did
- 9:57Speaker 9: a lot of work on in the draft, hoping that
- 9:59Speaker 9: the Texans would take a lot look at him, and
- 10:00Speaker 9: then when I saw the Jaguars drafting, was very disappointed,
- 10:03Speaker 9: and I thought, man, that's that's gonna be trouble for
- 10:06Speaker 9: us if we're not on our fundamentals and we're not
- 10:09Speaker 9: tackling well, because those two guys are very difficult to
- 10:11Speaker 9: tackle as well.
- 10:12Speaker 5: So it's it's great.
- 10:14Speaker 9: You might know what's coming in a sense, you might
- 10:17Speaker 9: see some tendencies that are the same, but the way
- 10:20Speaker 9: that Tampa Bay was able to execute, if Jacksonville executes
- 10:23Speaker 9: in that way, it doesn't matter if we know what's coming,
- 10:25Speaker 9: because they're gonna stick it right down our throats the
- 10:28Speaker 9: same way with that running game. And I think Jacksonvill's
- 10:30Speaker 9: offensive line is gonna be better than maybe some fans
- 10:34Speaker 9: here want to expect. I think we're gonna see a
- 10:36Speaker 9: lot of the same thing that Josh Grizzard, the offense
- 10:40Speaker 9: coordinator for Tampa Bay ran, learning it from Liam. There
- 10:43Speaker 9: might be some twists on it that Liam's gonna put
- 10:45Speaker 9: on it based on what tournament. His you know, his
- 10:49Speaker 9: players and what he's got in his personnel groupings.
- 10:51Speaker 5: But I think it's a.
- 10:52Speaker 9: Double edged sword, like, yeah, it's great, we've been prepping
- 10:55Speaker 9: for it for three weeks. But the other night we
- 10:58Speaker 9: didn't stop it, so we got we got to stop
- 11:00Speaker 9: it and hope to have a chance to keep that fast.
- 11:03Speaker 5: And that's the other things that stood out.
- 11:05Speaker 9: It's how fast Jacksonville is, especially offensively, like, wow, man,
- 11:08Speaker 9: they got some guys that can really run, so our
- 11:10Speaker 9: guys are gonna have to be on it. Really really
- 11:13Speaker 9: minder P's and Q's the other night that you really
- 11:14Speaker 9: didn't do that.
- 11:15Speaker 5: I think they were just so I use the word hyper.
- 11:18Speaker 9: It sounds like a you know, a five year old
- 11:20Speaker 9: kid on pop rocks, But that kind of was the
- 11:21Speaker 9: way they were playing. They got to like settle into
- 11:24Speaker 9: a smooth groove and just go play. And I think
- 11:26Speaker 9: they'll do a better job because they have seen some
- 11:29Speaker 9: of this stuff. But if I'm Liam, I go right
- 11:31Speaker 9: back to what we struggled with, especially because that fits
- 11:35Speaker 9: with what I think Jacksonville does really really well with
- 11:37Speaker 9: ETN and tooting very good.
- 11:39Speaker 3: It's our first divisional matchup. We're looking forward to it.
- 11:41Speaker 3: We'll see you John on Sunday.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Take care. Thank you.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Thanks to John Harris for joining me earlier, and of
- 11:50Speaker 2: course say what's here on jag xam coming up will
- 11:51Speaker 2: tell you what we think the headlines.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Are going to be on Monday morning. Eg dam rop you.
- 11:58Speaker 2: My stud is moving in storage for most trusted and
- 12:00Speaker 2: dependable moving company set it's proud to be the official
- 12:03Speaker 2: moving company of the Jacksonville Jaguars. To get a guaranteed quote,
- 12:06Speaker 2: visit sudi dot com slash Jacksonville.
- 12:10Speaker 4: I'm past that, way past that at this point in
- 12:13Speaker 4: my life, so it's not something I'm really I've thought
- 12:15Speaker 4: about since then. Everybody's different. You know, it's football. It's
- 12:21Speaker 4: a violent game, and obviously it's unfortunate when things like
- 12:24Speaker 4: that happen, and I don't want to get into all
- 12:27Speaker 4: that again, but you know, this is World War past that,
- 12:31Speaker 4: so I'm not going to look in the rear view mirror.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Quarterback Trevor Lawrence, reflecting on the hit he took the
- 12:37Speaker 2: last time the Texans and the Jaguars played, That hit
- 12:40Speaker 2: from Aziz al Shier gave him a concussion and he
- 12:43Speaker 2: missed the rest of the season, so Trevor Lawrence says
- 12:45Speaker 2: he's moved much far past that. I think, you know,
- 12:48Speaker 2: there's a lot of been a turnover, a lot of
- 12:49Speaker 2: changes here since that point, so I think be a
- 12:52Speaker 2: little bit different.
- 12:52Speaker 3: But there's always a rivalry.
- 12:53Speaker 6: Listen, there is the rivalry because if you go back
- 12:55Speaker 6: and look at the record from when the Texans came
- 12:57Speaker 6: into the league in two thousand and two until today,
- 12:59Speaker 6: they have owned the series. There have been little pockets
- 13:02Speaker 6: where the Jaguars have had success against the Texans, but
- 13:05Speaker 6: through the Eros, the Texans have owned the series.
- 13:08Speaker 5: The only thing I'll say about that hit is that,
- 13:10Speaker 5: And I think Liam Goleen said at best, the best.
- 13:12Speaker 6: Revenge, if that's the word that you want to use,
- 13:14Speaker 6: is for the Jaguars to go out and play well,
- 13:16Speaker 6: for the quarterback to go out and play well.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Now I might find where zero is.
- 13:20Speaker 6: I might run a little Breton Strange's directions right and
- 13:23Speaker 6: send the message you know you did that last year,
- 13:26Speaker 6: We're coming after you this year. We're going to be
- 13:28Speaker 6: the more physical team. But the best revengers just to
- 13:30Speaker 6: go out and beat the Texans.
- 13:31Speaker 5: Well.
- 13:31Speaker 7: The cliche is, look, look, there's too much going on
- 13:35Speaker 7: to prepare and if you're thinking about that, you're not
- 13:37Speaker 7: thinking about the game. And that cliche is very true.
- 13:41Speaker 7: But it's the incident will run through the water here
- 13:48Speaker 7: and there. I do believe there will be a feeling
- 13:52Speaker 7: of you know, I've said it all week, It's the
- 13:55Speaker 7: only I can thing to say it. If the Texans pushed,
- 13:57Speaker 7: the Jaguars.
- 13:57Speaker 6: Are going to push back, and so I'm e sorded
- 14:00Speaker 6: about this becomes part of the rivalry. I mean, you
- 14:02Speaker 6: remember when Greg Lloyd took out Keenan McCardell in nineteen
- 14:05Speaker 6: ninety seven. Whenever we talk about the Steelers and that
- 14:08Speaker 6: rival we go back to that game because there was
- 14:11Speaker 6: some roster moves that angered the Steelers and Greg Lloyd,
- 14:15Speaker 6: the outside linebacker, just crushed Keenan right after the.
- 14:17Speaker 5: Game and he said, well he said something about my wife. Well,
- 14:19Speaker 5: Keenan mccardnell never said anything about his wife. That was
- 14:22Speaker 5: just a message you signed one of our players the
- 14:24Speaker 5: week that we were playing.
- 14:26Speaker 2: This is what we do, all right, Well, we're gonna
- 14:28Speaker 2: start looking forward now as we look as to what
- 14:31Speaker 2: the headlines will be on Monday morning, We're.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Gonna predict the feature do our best. What do you
- 14:40Speaker 3: think the headlines are gonna be on Monday.
- 14:41Speaker 6: Then I'll go with turn them loose. And you can
- 14:43Speaker 6: look at this two different ways. The first is is
- 14:46Speaker 6: that the Houston Texans offensive line has had trouble protecting
- 14:50Speaker 6: the quarterback. Going back to last season, he was sacked
- 14:54Speaker 6: fifty six times. He was hit multiple times in the
- 14:56Speaker 6: fourth quarter of the other night. That really impacted that ballgame.
- 15:00Speaker 6: So I say, let him go right and we let
- 15:02Speaker 6: that defensive line chase and forty four was a wrecking
- 15:07Speaker 6: ball in Cincinnati. I mean, just go back and watch
- 15:09Speaker 6: the tape.
- 15:10Speaker 5: So turn those guys loose. The other side of this
- 15:12Speaker 5: is and I know.
- 15:13Speaker 6: We're talking about BTJ all week and that's the dominant
- 15:15Speaker 6: story because he's such a good player. But the running
- 15:18Speaker 6: game is averaging one hundred and sixty nine yards through
- 15:21Speaker 6: two weeks. Again two weeks, John, But the Jaguars have
- 15:24Speaker 6: shown the ability to run the ball, which they haven't
- 15:26Speaker 6: been very effective at the last two years. Go get
- 15:29Speaker 6: them run the football to set up the pass until
- 15:33Speaker 6: such point that you've got the passing game in sync.
- 15:35Speaker 5: It might take a little while. Run the ball.
- 15:38Speaker 7: Yeah, sort of the same theme. I think we'll all
- 15:41Speaker 7: have it mine was standing strong taking the hit last
- 15:47Speaker 7: year aside, This game to me is huge for the
- 15:51Speaker 7: Jaguars in the sense that they've shown the identity they
- 15:54Speaker 7: want to be this year the Texans think they're that team,
- 15:59Speaker 7: or actually the Texans have shown they're that kind of
- 16:00Speaker 7: a team.
- 16:02Speaker 5: If the Jaguars are really a.
- 16:04Speaker 7: Tough, physical team that doesn't back down to people, then
- 16:09Speaker 7: they'll play like that on Sunday. If they come out
- 16:12Speaker 7: of this game, think about us sitting here on Monday.
- 16:15Speaker 7: If they come out of this game running in the
- 16:17Speaker 7: way they did the first two weeks, creating turnovers and
- 16:20Speaker 7: playing physical and standing up, this game sets the tone.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Do you think Dimiko is going anywhere?
- 16:29Speaker 2: No?
- 16:30Speaker 7: Do you think Liam Cohan's going anywhere?
- 16:31Speaker 3: Have to say no.
- 16:32Speaker 7: These guys are going to play a lot in the
- 16:34Speaker 7: next few years. This game is the first of a
- 16:37Speaker 7: lot of battles. I'm excited about this one and I'm
- 16:41Speaker 7: using that that jacked up on Thursday. This is gonna
- 16:43Speaker 7: be fun to watch for these gas is standing strong
- 16:46Speaker 7: as in the side. I talked to Duan Smoot in
- 16:48Speaker 7: the locker room.
- 16:49Speaker 6: He was part of the last really physical, dominant Jaguars
- 16:52Speaker 6: defense in twenty seventeen. He was a rookie on that
- 16:55Speaker 6: squad and I asked him for any comparisons, and he said,
- 16:57Speaker 6: you know what, that team never backed down from anyone,
- 16:59Speaker 6: the audit, everyone, And of course that was Jalen Ramsey's personality.
- 17:03Speaker 6: But the reality of it is he goes, we're not
- 17:04Speaker 6: backing down from anyone. So I kind of got excited
- 17:07Speaker 6: about this game too. Even though Duwan wasn't here last year,
- 17:10Speaker 6: he was here long enough to understand the Texans Jaguars rivalry.
- 17:13Speaker 7: Well, he knows all the guys. He you know, he's
- 17:15Speaker 7: tight with Josh eidens hinz Allen, He's he's one of
- 17:19Speaker 7: those guys as part of the culture even when he
- 17:21Speaker 7: wasn't and he'll be on the ozone podcast this I'll
- 17:26Speaker 7: drop that name right there quickly.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Mine's along the lines. Mine's seeing battle red.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Because hopefully we don't have to see the battle red uniforms.
- 17:32Speaker 2: But along with the defense. I talked to doorn Newis
- 17:35Speaker 2: yesterday and talked about trash talk. He got me hyped
- 17:37Speaker 2: up because he's one of those guys. As soon as
- 17:39Speaker 2: he puts on his football uniform, he's got the pads on.
- 17:41Speaker 2: He turns into somebody else. So I know the takeaways
- 17:44Speaker 2: probably aren't going to get three every game, like John mentioned,
- 17:46Speaker 2: but I hope it doesn't stop this week at least
- 17:48Speaker 2: because I think there's a great opportunity here. The offense
- 17:51Speaker 2: has had a hard time getting going for the Texans
- 17:53Speaker 2: so far. They got a new offensive coordinator that are
- 17:54Speaker 2: still trying to figure things out. Joe Mixon's not on
- 17:56Speaker 2: the field right now, so without the run, they're having
- 17:59Speaker 2: trouble connect seeing their wide receivers.
- 18:01Speaker 3: I think this is a great opportunity.
- 18:02Speaker 2: To get that interception and get some extra chances for
- 18:06Speaker 2: the offense, and hopefully that means a win for the
- 18:09Speaker 2: Jaguars this Sunday.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Stay with us.
- 18:11Speaker 2: We'll come back after the break and tell you a
- 18:12Speaker 2: little bit of well, what's respectful for the game.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Jags fans do on customized Jaguars furniture for your home.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Check out vifchaer dot com to rouse all the customizable
- 18:22Speaker 2: options off Cherish furniture for fans and this game this
- 18:25Speaker 2: Sunday against the Texas, brought to you by UF Healthy,
- 18:27Speaker 2: official healthcare partner of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 18:31Speaker 3: I'm gonna want to come out and see this one.
- 18:32Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be good.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Obviously, reminders everyone to get to the stadium early because
- 18:36Speaker 2: of construction. You don't want to deal with any of
- 18:38Speaker 2: the delays, so'll come early. I think the Main Street
- 18:40Speaker 2: bridge is still close at this point too, so just
- 18:42Speaker 2: keep an eye on all that stuff.
- 18:43Speaker 3: And get here right in early. Tailgate early, get after it,
- 18:47Speaker 3: have some fun.
- 18:47Speaker 7: Yeah, like if you like games with emotion, if there's.
- 18:50Speaker 3: A big game, it's gonna be Sunday.
- 18:52Speaker 7: This is again, this is big for a Week three game.
- 18:56Speaker 5: You're the chance to play.
- 18:57Speaker 7: I'm excited about it, and you guys don't see me
- 18:59Speaker 7: excited that much.
- 19:00Speaker 6: So you have a chance to put the Texans in
- 19:01Speaker 6: an Owen three hole, right, I mean that is big
- 19:04Speaker 6: for them as the two time defending division champs to
- 19:08Speaker 6: put them down three early, and that's a great opportunity
- 19:10Speaker 6: for this football team.
- 19:11Speaker 2: And selfishly, they're going to be wearing the Prowler's uniforms
- 19:14Speaker 2: and I'm excited about that as I'm sure many of
- 19:16Speaker 2: the fans are as well.
- 19:17Speaker 3: So enjoy the game on Sunday.
- 19:19Speaker 2: We'll be back on JAGXAM on Monday to recap everything
- 19:22Speaker 2: for you.
- 19:22Speaker 3: And hopefully a Jaguars win
