- 0:00Up next for the football Huskies the season finale. I'm ninety one an Ambers
- 0:05mass against the rival UMass minute Men. Radio coverage beginning at ten thirty hard
- 0:10Auto Group count down to kickoff and it's game on at twelve noon. Here
- 0:14along the Yukon Sports networking online via the Varsited Network app and the Varsity Network
- 0:18dot Com back with Jim Mora and coach. It's funny. I get a
- 0:22lot of calls and texts, et cetera from Yukon fans that are around the
- 0:26country listening to the football games, and they are using the bar to our
- 0:29Seed Network app. It's different now. It's not like you used to be
- 0:34when we're growing up, like we had to have our radio in our hands
- 0:37or driving in our cars to hear what's going on. So it's kind of
- 0:40cool. You can really catch up with what's going on even if you're not
- 0:43in the area. Yeah, the world has changed in terms of how we
- 0:48you know, we view content and there's so many options now available for people
- 0:52to listen and view and it's exciting. And I know for my folks that
- 0:58are out in California, they have the ability to listen to this show.
- 1:02They have the ability to tune into every every game, every press conference,
- 1:07and you know, it keeps them up to date with what's going on here,
- 1:11which is something they're obviously very very passionate about. So I'm happy we
- 1:18have all these platforms that we can use. Guess the only problem is,
- 1:21Mike, is it keeps us tied to our phones all the time. Yeah.
- 1:25Yeah. I ran into a guy today in a coffee shop. Quick
- 1:26story. He says, I'm listening to the game, I'm watching the game,
- 1:30but you're you're not synced up to what the what the game is showing.
- 1:34Talking about our broadcast, and I said, well, sincmgame dot com.
- 1:38That's an app you can get on the app store and it actually syncs
- 1:42up the radio broadcast and what you're seeing on TV. And he goes,
- 1:45oh, that's great, I'm going to do that. He loads it on
- 1:48his phone like right in front of me, so he's also, that's pretty
- 1:52cool. You just still a little promo for uh yeah, I've never heard
- 1:56of it. It's always promoting, but no, it's great, it really
- 1:59is. Hey, Victor Rosa looked better the other day. Good to see
- 2:04him healthy. Had three or four weeks where he was hurting. What did
- 2:07you make of what he did out there? Because it looked like he had
- 2:09his his you know, his quickness back. I think he's probably still eighty
- 2:16five to nine. I don't think a running back after week one is ever
- 2:21one hundred percent though you know it takes so many but I feel like there
- 2:25was a couple of runs that the healthy victor breaks for touchdowns. But I
- 2:30do agree with you. It was good to see him closer than he's been
- 2:35in the last few weeks. And I asked him today and he felt felt
- 2:38like, you you know, getting through another game gave him more confidence,
- 2:42the pains settling down, and you know, I hope he can really be
- 2:45strong on Saturday for us. Yeah, eleven carries seventy four yards for him.
- 2:50Talking about these guys that are developing now as the season progresses, Lee
- 2:54Malette, you were saying is going to start and set of elite Dixon Williams,
- 3:00who suffered a broken arm. He first of all, he's had a
- 3:01rough year. Football is a tough sport, but he's had multiple injuries and
- 3:06the guy keeps bouncing back. This one is going to keep him out Saturday.
- 3:08I'm guessing you know what, It's unfortunate, but it is. He
- 3:13broke his arm. You're right, he's had one of those years where you
- 3:16know, something seems to happen, and I think it was early in the
- 3:20first game of the year. You know that he got hurt, and he
- 3:23just keeps having these these things that's going down. Even before he hurt his
- 3:28arm on Saturday, he was dealing with an ankle injury and you could really
- 3:31tell him the way he was moving. And I feel bad for him because
- 3:35he's a he's a tough kid, and he's a good player, and he
- 3:38cares and he's well respected by his teammates, and you know, I like
- 3:42it when he's out there. But you know he'll be back strong next year,
- 3:46and this will give us a chance to get lead even more time.
- 3:47Now. He's been getting a lot of time and he's been playing well.
- 3:53You know, we've been rotating these little bit so we'll have to be a
- 3:57little bit less inclined to do that this week. Yeah, so Lee Malletti
- 4:01gets some more reps out there. That's good news. Kylee shicks touchdown catch.
- 4:06We have him on the show a little bit later on. He's been
- 4:09in five games Now, he's such an interesting guys. It's spent some time
- 4:14talking to him. He's a football player. It looks looks to me,
- 4:16sounds like to me, this dude just likes to play football. I agree
- 4:20with you, and I really like him. I think he's tough. And
- 4:23when he came in and here we you know, kind of ascillating between does
- 4:28he play offenses? He played defensive back and you know, it seems us
- 4:31his best positions at receiver. It was great to see him make that catch.
- 4:34I mean, take one through a beautiful ball. He's stuck it in
- 4:36there, but it was a contested drow and a contested catch and Kylie,
- 4:41you know, he attacked the football and made to play. One of the
- 4:43things that he does that goes unnoticedes is downfield blocking. He's a very aggressive
- 4:48and good, disciplined, consistent blocker down the field. So I'm impressed with
- 4:53his growth. Yeah, on the defensive side, to Jim Price Yates,
- 4:57how about him twelve and a half to for us four and a half sacks.
- 5:01I mean, that guy is kind of an igniter. It looks like
- 5:04on defense when he gets in the backfield, bad things happen for the offense.
- 5:11Yeah, and he goes about it so quietly, you know, you
- 5:13just don't even notice it. He's not a guy that gets a lot of
- 5:15acclaim and yet he's just very consistent his performance every week and count on him
- 5:20to do what he's supposed to do. And then beyond, I thought he
- 5:24had a great game on Saturday. I think he had a sack or a
- 5:27sack and a half and he had the four tackles for loss and you know
- 5:30several on the years you mentioned, I think he had six tackles. And
- 5:34yeah, he's just a really good football player for us, and he's young,
- 5:38he's got some time left and he's going to get better and better.
- 5:41Yeah. Two of the things that the defense did against Sacred Hard is they
- 5:45limited their running and they really were a good running team coming in. I
- 5:47know FCS, but still they ran the ball pretty well, held him to
- 5:51seventy eight yards and also on third down that's been a real key stat this
- 5:56year for Yukon's defense. They did an excellent job on Saturday too for a
- 6:00eleven. When you do that, you get them off the field. That's
- 6:03that's one of those you know, elements that goes into a winning formula.
- 6:08Doesn't it without doubt. You know, you eliminate place for your opponent and
- 6:13you theoretically, you know, provide more opportunities for your offense. And uh,
- 6:18that's why third down is such a key down, and so often third
- 6:24down is influenced by what happens on first and second a. Because you can
- 6:28get a team in the third and long, your percentages to stop them certainly
- 6:30go up. And we were able to do that. And that's you know,
- 6:33like you said, the run game, it goes hand in hand when
- 6:35you can when you can consistently stop the run game and make a team throw
- 6:40it, you know, just more good things can happen for you. And
- 6:44that was part of the part of the reason that we that we were able
- 6:46to get a win on Saturdays, stopping the run and certainly getting them off
- 6:50the field on third down. Jim Morris Willison. We will continue more on
- 6:55the Yukon Football Coaches Show here on liar Field
