Transcript
- 0:20Hello to all the comic fans, Marvel geeks, and all the nerds
- 0:23in between. Welcome to another episode of
- 0:24the Vigilante Vibes Podcast where we talk all things Marvel
- 0:27along with the other fandoms, but without the toxicity that's
- 0:30taking up way too much space in each and every fandom.
- 0:32I'm your host, Megan Nicole and I have a very special guest.
- 0:36Her name is Amy. And we are going to talk about
- 0:39kick ass women of history that are Amy's choice.
- 0:42So I'm very excited. Thank you so much for being on
- 0:45with me today. Thank you.
- 0:46For the invitation. Yes, of course.
- 0:49Why don't you tell our listeners a little?
- 0:50Bit about you right? So I have my own podcast, Kick
- 0:55Ass Women of History, which explores the lives of women who
- 1:01deserve to be better known. So they can be from five years
- 1:05ago or 5000 years ago, anywhere in the world, just women who are
- 1:11traditionally left out of the historical narrative.
- 1:14So that launched in January and I've been really lucky.
- 1:18I've had guests from around the world talking about some really
- 1:22amazing women and I've learnt so much just from hearing them talk
- 1:27about these these people they've been researching and they're
- 1:29really passionate about. That's amazing.
- 1:33I love that so much. So what are what are a few women
- 1:39that you are that are just like your guilty pleasure to talk
- 1:43about? That are the ones you just can't
- 1:45stop yourself, that get brought up all the time.
- 1:48Oh, so, and actually this is a bit of a coincidence because
- 1:53it's the episode of the show that's going out this week is
- 1:57about a Mabel, a woman called Mabel Baltrop, who founded a
- 2:03religious sect in Bedfordshire in the UK called the Panacea
- 2:08Society. And they used to send out little
- 2:15one inch strips of cloth that people could soak in water to
- 2:20create a cure all. They thought it would cure all
- 2:23diseases, they thought that their gardens and their grounds
- 2:28were the original location of the Garden of Eden and really it
- 2:33was just lots of middle class ladies being being very nice and
- 2:38drinking tea. And it's the most British
- 2:42religious sect that has ever been, but completely
- 2:47matriarchal. They really believed that
- 2:51salvation and the the way to heaven was through through women
- 2:56and that the second coming of the Messiah, the Messiah, new
- 2:59Messiah, would be a woman. Yeah.
- 3:02Crazy, but yeah. So you said that you had some
- 3:14kick ass women of history to bring up today.
- 3:17Why don't we talk about them? Yes, so I thought I would talk
- 3:23about the comic series that got me into reading comics.
- 3:29Yes. Yeah, so I am a fantasic, which
- 3:35I don't know if that's a time you've come across.
- 3:38And I cannot say it is. So if I were to say to you,
- 3:44close your eyes and picture a beach and the waves lapping on
- 3:49the show, can you see that? Yeah.
- 3:51Yeah, I can't. So there is a number of people
- 3:57out there in the world who don't have a visual imagination and
- 4:02it's only really in the last 20 years been identified as a
- 4:06thing. We all just thought you were
- 4:08talking metaphorically. We didn't know you could
- 4:10actually see things in your head.
- 4:12What this is a thing? This is a thing my.
- 4:15Gosh, I had no idea. Yeah, so there are people out
- 4:19there who don't have in the monologues, and there are some
- 4:22of us out here who don't see things in our head and can't see
- 4:27in pictures. And for me, that always made it
- 4:31really hard to read comics, which was so annoying because I
- 4:37am such a geek and multifaceted geek and I wanted to read
- 4:40comics. I loved watching Spider Man
- 4:43cartoons and Adam West Batman running around and so I wanted
- 4:49to read comics but just couldn't get on with them because I
- 4:51couldn't cope with that visual medium.
- 4:56Wow, this is really mind blowing.
- 4:59What? What?
- 4:59Oh my gosh. Yeah, there there will probably
- 5:04be a number in your audience of people going, wait, people can
- 5:08see stuff and yeah, and as well as the rest of you going what
- 5:13you can't see. But yeah, it's a thing.
- 5:16Wow, this is wow. Yeah, so I could never really
- 5:23cope with comics until I was working on a women's history
- 5:29project in probably about 2018, and it was exploring the history
- 5:36of women's lives in the county of Essex here in the UK and my
- 5:43husband happens to mention in passing, Well, do you know a lot
- 5:47of Marvel characters come from Essex?
- 5:51What, don't don't all Marvel characters come from New York?
- 5:56Spider Man and everyone else, they're all running around New
- 5:59York. And, and so I looked into it and
- 6:03yes, they do. And I thought, well, there was
- 6:07an Avengers film coming out at the cinema.
- 6:09And I thought, OK, well, why don't I write A blog post for
- 6:12the project about some of the women from Essex in Marvel, and
- 6:19then I can put it out on our blog on social media and maybe
- 6:22get a bit more attention for the project because that's what you
- 6:26do. I do the hustle.
- 6:27And so I thought, well actually if I'm going to do this, I'm
- 6:31going to need to read one of these comics.
- 6:33So I got hold of Captain Britain and MI 13, and it was just so
- 6:42exciting to me and so interesting to me, having
- 6:45watched all all the Marvel films with his very American heroes,
- 6:51to have this core of very British characters running
- 6:56around my country and doing all these superhero things.
- 7:00Wow. And yeah.
- 7:02And there's one character in particular, Faiza Hussain, who
- 7:05is Excalibur. And I thought that's who I might
- 7:08talk a little bit about today. Yes, I would love to.
- 7:11I think Excalibur was the first comic I ever read was an
- 7:16Excalibur comic, so I am so excited to hear all about it.
- 7:22OK, so MI 13 is a government department for British
- 7:31superheroes. So a bit like you have MI 6IN
- 7:34James Bond with all the spies and you have MI 13, which is the
- 7:39superheroes? Yes, and it is led by Alistair
- 7:46Stewart, which is a character that Marvel may have lifted
- 7:52quite blatantly from Doctor Who. They tend to do that, just ask
- 7:57DC. Yeah, So I think Marvel had
- 8:01rights to publish some Doctor Who comments comics back in the
- 8:06day. And this somehow became a sort
- 8:08of crossover character. So in Doctor Who, who's Alastair
- 8:12Lethbridge Stewart in Marvel hits Alastair Stewart and
- 8:15Stewart spelled differently, but he he sort of run runs this
- 8:18department. And you've got all of these
- 8:21British heroes in it and led by Captain Britain, which is Brian
- 8:29Braddock, who he and his twin sister Betsy Braddock are both
- 8:33from Essex as well. And Betsy is one of the X-Men.
- 8:37Yes, just the interconnectedness of all things Marvel.
- 8:41And and yeah, this this series, which I think was originally
- 8:48supposed to tie in with Secret War.
- 8:50So it's all about the scroll invasion.
- 8:53And it creates this new character, Faiza Hussein, who is
- 9:00from the city of Chelmsford in Essex, but of Pakistani descent.
- 9:08And she is a doctor. And through her encounter with
- 9:13the scroll, she ends up with the power to rearrange living things
- 9:18on a subatomic level, which makes healing them as a doctor a
- 9:23lot easier because she can just take people apart, fix what's
- 9:28wrong, put them all back together without it causing any
- 9:31issues. So great power to have about if
- 9:36you're going to be a superhero and a doctor.
- 9:38And it's really refreshing to read about her because she is a
- 9:43Muslim character, but it's not her defining characteristic.
- 9:48It's part of a well-rounded personality.
- 9:51So you don't really get that representation very much in
- 9:55fictional characters for a British Muslim, Muslim
- 9:58character. And as she what is probably her
- 10:02defining characteristic, apart from her medicine and her her
- 10:07love of science is she is absolutely cricket obsessed.
- 10:14So I know that Brits have this, you know, stereotype of you all
- 10:17being cricket. But actually for for her coming
- 10:21from Pakistan, which is another cricket playing nation, it makes
- 10:24sense. And she follows the the county
- 10:28cricket team, Essex and crickets.
- 10:31And so when she comes up with her superhero costume, the Essex
- 10:36badge, which is 3 swords and on a crust, that is a significant
- 10:44part of her costume because of her love of cricket and her love
- 10:47of her county. Wow this is so cool, I didn't
- 10:51know that. So she's a really interesting
- 10:55character and across the MI 13 run, you have got the this sort
- 11:03of wide range of characters that are meeting.
- 11:07They work with Blade, they're taking down vampires, they've
- 11:10been taking down the scroll. So there's lots there that could
- 11:13be mined if Marvel want to make a series out of it.
- 11:16Hint hint if you're listening. I don't think anyone would be
- 11:22against it. No.
- 11:24So yeah, we've got our own heroes over here.
- 11:27So obviously you had Kit Harington in the Eternals being
- 11:33set up to be the Black Knight and that everything's gone
- 11:35silent. Yeah, they want us to forget
- 11:38about that movie so bad. I loved that movie.
- 11:41I did too. I loved it, was a beautiful
- 11:44movie. Yeah.
- 11:45And I think that's one of the things I like about Marvel as a
- 11:49studio is that they do experiment and they try new
- 11:52things, and some of them will reach a big audience, some of
- 11:58them might not. And does that really matter?
- 12:02And it really annoys me when you get this sort of toxic fandom
- 12:06complaining about things that actually not everything that
- 12:10Marvel produces has to be for you.
- 12:14Yeah, exactly. There is, you know, a wide range
- 12:17of different people who love superheroes and love these
- 12:21comics. And not everything has to appeal
- 12:24to everyone. And you can pick and choose what
- 12:27you're interested in. And if Miss Marvel or She Hulk
- 12:32or whatever isn't your thing, that's fine.
- 12:35Just don't complain about it. Let the people who would be
- 12:38interested enjoy it and you go do your thing with Iron Man or
- 12:42whatever. Exactly like with an incoming
- 12:47Iron Heart series, there's so many people who are like, who
- 12:49asked for this. And I'm like, well, I did.
- 12:52Just because you didn't ask for it doesn't mean no one else did.
- 12:56And the trailer is fantastic. Isn't it though?
- 12:59My goodness. Yeah.
- 13:05So for MI 13, do you have any fan casts in mind for like
- 13:11Captain Britain or anyone? Oh, now this again comes back to
- 13:17the a fantasy, because it's really hard to sort of pick.
- 13:19Oh, that's. Right.
- 13:21But oh, who could it be? And would would you go for
- 13:25having the twins? Could you have Brian and Betsy?
- 13:28Who would be a good double cast for that?
- 13:32I always thought, I think the world thinks that Henry Cavill
- 13:37is the right choice for Captain Britain.
- 13:40Yeah, I think he would be perfect.
- 13:43But like, isn't it like a little too on the nose?
- 13:48Yeah, he is very sort of clean cut, which is why he was such a
- 13:53good cast as Superman. Yeah, even though, and I know
- 13:57that it's the the wrong fandom. No, you're fine.
- 13:59I like DC too. That movie was so boring.
- 14:04Which one? Superman.
- 14:07Which one Man of Steel? Oh yeah.
- 14:13I really enjoyed it, but I am a sucker for an origin story.
- 14:17I have heard a lot of people say it was boring and it's like
- 14:20that's OK, I get it, I totally get it.
- 14:23But the new Superman? Yeah.
- 14:26That looks good. Yeah, I'm, I, I'm struggling to
- 14:29get excited, I think just because Christopher Reeve was so
- 14:32good. Yeah.
- 14:34And then we've had all and we've had all these, you know, quite
- 14:37entertaining fun TV shows where you had, you know, Dean Cain in
- 14:41the 90s, you had Smallville, you've had Superman and Lois
- 14:46recently. So you've got all of this.
- 14:47Do we really need another Superman?
- 14:50Does anyone care at this point? I think so and.
- 14:56Especially with the characters that are in the movie, I think
- 14:59will lead to more for like Hot Girl or Guy Gardner.
- 15:03It seems like they're putting him in there just to lead to
- 15:06lanterns and all that. So I think it I think it makes
- 15:10sense. I think it's going to be the
- 15:11thing that the movie that kind of is like the bud and then it
- 15:15just kind of flowers out for DC. Yeah, no, it will and it will be
- 15:21great and I'll go and see it with everyone else.
- 15:24But I get it. I'm sure it's another Superman
- 15:26movie. I get it.
- 15:28Yeah. And you know, we all probably
- 15:30did that a little bit when the first time when Tom Holland was
- 15:34first nuts as Spider Man. Do we need another nut Spider
- 15:36man? Any spider man?
- 15:38I didn't. I am.
- 15:39I have Spider Man tattooed on me.
- 15:41I am obsessed. I'll take whatever you give me.
- 15:44But I did feel that way. Every time there's another
- 15:47Batman, I'm like, do we need another one?
- 15:50Can we take some time apart? I mean this.
- 15:55I am going to get so much Flack for saying this publicly.
- 15:59Adam West, the best Batman. Adam West?
- 16:01Really. Well.
- 16:04He did amazing. In the UK they used to repeat
- 16:10Adam West Batman every school holidays in the 80s and 90s so
- 16:14it would be on. Our school holidays are a bit
- 16:17different to yours in the States, so we get in the summer,
- 16:20we only get six weeks. Oh.
- 16:23But we get more off. We get 2 weeks at Christmas, we
- 16:25get 2 weeks at Easter and we have sort.
- 16:27Of two weeks on Easter, we get nothing.
- 16:31And we get 331 week holidays dotted in between them all as
- 16:35well. So we get probably about the
- 16:37same amount of holiday generally, but it's more spread
- 16:40out. Of course, the yeah, which is
- 16:41nice. But yeah, for the six weeks of
- 16:43the summer holiday, you would have Batman every day for
- 16:47entertaining the kids at home. And so, yeah, we all grew up
- 16:52watching it. And because I didn't read the
- 16:55comics and didn't have the sort of The Dark Knight, the brooding
- 16:59hero that he is in the original source material, to me, Batman
- 17:03is running around in tights with how splat.
- 17:09Kaboom. I think every iteration of
- 17:13Batman brings something so different to the character.
- 17:16I mean, one of my favourites is Robert Pattinson.
- 17:18And I get it, Like not many people were like, Oh my God,
- 17:22he's amazing. But I was like, that's, that's
- 17:24Detective Batman to me, that I like that.
- 17:28So I think it's really what you're into.
- 17:29But they all did a really amazing job.
- 17:32Yeah, that had to waste the bats.
- 17:40Oh, I didn't. I'm learning so much today.
- 17:42That's so cool. It's so exciting.
- 17:45But yeah, anyway, fan casting Captain Britain.
- 17:48Oh, oh, what about oh, I've forgotten his name?
- 17:56Thomas. Oh, little actor.
- 18:00Guy was the little boy in Love, Actually.
- 18:04Oh oh Dang it, now I need to. Know bro, bro.
- 18:09Yeah, you know who I mean. Yeah.
- 18:11I'm looking it up. I know that little bastard's
- 18:16name. Thomas Brody Sangster.
- 18:21Yeah, that could be quite an interesting.
- 18:25That wouldn't be bad. I I am curious what they're
- 18:28going to do with him because he's like, he's like right
- 18:30there. He's not doing anything, you
- 18:32know, So like, yeah, might as well.
- 18:37For Betsy, it really depends on who's Captain Braddock.
- 18:42But I mean, you could really go anyone with her, like Ella Hunt,
- 18:52Amelia Jones. I would for both of them.
- 18:54I want a really unknown actor or more underrated.
- 18:58So I think your idea for Captain Britain makes the most sense.
- 19:03And it's and the reason that so many British actors get cast in
- 19:08Hollywood is you can get someone who's well established and
- 19:12trained over here but isn't known in the States.
- 19:16So they're cheaper. Are they cheaper?
- 19:19Is that really why? I mean, like, sometimes I think
- 19:22it's probably like every few weeks I kind of sit to myself
- 19:25and think, like, man, British people are better at being
- 19:29American than American people in movies.
- 19:32Yeah, they're just cheaper. Oh, I didn't.
- 19:34Well, you guys also are doing better.
- 19:37Like Charlie Hunnam. The thing that I would do for
- 19:40that man, I am obsessed with him.
- 19:43And I found out like a year ago he's British.
- 19:47I had no idea, no idea. I thought in King Arthur he was
- 19:52just that good of an actor. So.
- 19:56No, no. But that we've got a lot of them
- 19:58that, you know, out there flying under the radar.
- 20:01Charlie Cox, really, He really confused a lot of people when
- 20:06Daredevil bored again came out. Yeah, and he suddenly got a
- 20:09British accent in the interviews.
- 20:10Where did? That come from they're like,
- 20:12what is he doing? Is this like an acting thing?
- 20:15No, he's British. Come on.
- 20:17Because. He and Andrew Garfield were
- 20:19roommates as students. And Robert Pattinson, all three
- 20:23of them. Yeah, that, that is a house I
- 20:26want to visit. So yeah, Batman, Spider Man, and
- 20:30Daredevil all live together. It's so weird we got to get
- 20:38Robert Pattinson somewhere in the NCU.
- 20:42Although does he would he want another franchise after Batman
- 20:46and Twilight and Potter? He's he's done a lot of of
- 20:51those. He doesn't seem to enjoy it.
- 20:54I don't think he enjoyed Twilight.
- 20:55He loves being Batman, but I think he's as frustrated as the
- 20:59fans are because we're not getting the Batman too.
- 21:02There's no way it's happening, and if it does, I'll eat my
- 21:05words. But it's not happening.
- 21:07So I think he's frustrated by that.
- 21:10But just because a an actor is cast in the MCU doesn't mean
- 21:15they have to be a hero at all. You know, like there are side
- 21:19characters that aren't heroes, like Ned Leeds or Aunt May, that
- 21:23kind of thing. So I think I would rather see
- 21:25him as like a human character, not like a superhero character.
- 21:30Yeah, that could be interesting. Yeah, I feel like they don't do
- 21:33that enough. It's like Martin Freeman in
- 21:38Black Panther. Yes, exactly.
- 21:41Like we need more of those characters, those stabilizing
- 21:45characters, grounding characters.
- 21:47Yeah, another Brit playing an American.
- 21:50Yeah, see, I had no clue and I watched all of Sherlock.
- 21:55No clue. I was just like, what a good
- 21:57actor. He really nails the accent or.
- 22:02He was in the original British office as well.
- 22:05Was he? Yeah, he was the he was the
- 22:09strong Krasinski character. I think it was the same.
- 22:13Was that him? Yeah.
- 22:15Oh my gosh, another thing I learned today, I watched like 2
- 22:21episodes of the British 1 and I was like you know, I've seen
- 22:24like the whole American episode and it's like line for line the
- 22:30same. So like, do I really need to
- 22:31watch it? Fair enough.
- 22:37Yeah. Oh my gosh, that's so cool.
- 22:40Yeah, you British people are just kind of taking over.
- 22:42And I'm OK with it because, like, Americans aren't doing
- 22:45that great. So by all means, play Batman,
- 22:49Adam West, Batman every single day.
- 22:51We're we're good. Yeah, same same bat time, same
- 22:59bat channel. That's what they that's.
- 23:03Yeah, that's what used to say. They used to say in the sort of
- 23:06dramatic bit at the end of the episode where it'd be Batman and
- 23:11Robin hanging on to a Cliff or or something in here or about to
- 23:15be cut open by a giant wheel thing or whatever was happening.
- 23:21TuneIn necklace. Same Bat time, same Bat channel.
- 23:27I want to be British. But that was in the American,
- 23:30that was in the original videos that were being 0.
- 23:34Yeah, that wasn't our. Announcers, they're not that
- 23:38exciting. Oh, well, never mind.
- 23:42I still kind of want to be British, but never mind.
- 23:46You guys just kind of seem like you're just having a good time,
- 23:48you know? And I want that.
- 23:51Well, you know, see what happens with with this this MI 13 series
- 23:57that we're pitching. That's true.
- 24:00This is you. Practice your accent, you never
- 24:02know. One time me and my best friend,
- 24:09we talked for an entire weekend in a British accent because
- 24:13we're like, I bet we can do it. And for an entire week we could
- 24:17not stop. Like we were thinking in this
- 24:19accent and we're like, we're screwed.
- 24:20This is it. This is who we are now.
- 24:23And I think about that a lot because I'm like, I should have
- 24:25just kept going with that confuse everyone.
- 24:32So yeah, that's a little bit about me.
- 24:36I think The thing is America obviously is enormous and has
- 24:42lots of different accents. So we over here, we tend to talk
- 24:45about American accents, but not really differentiate in our
- 24:48heads between the Southern accent and the the city accents
- 24:53and the fact they can be so different because it's just that
- 24:55sort of Hollywood standard that everyone speaks.
- 24:57But it's the same here in the UK, except we're a much smaller
- 25:02country. So it's you can go half an hour
- 25:04down the road and some will have a completely different accent.
- 25:08Yeah, I've seen that before. I'm a big UFC fan, so there are
- 25:15a lot of fighters there that are like, I'm from the UK.
- 25:17I'm like, Are you sure? Are you sure?
- 25:21Because you sound very, very different from the others.
- 25:25And it's kind of wild because there's so many different
- 25:29accents from such a small country.
- 25:34And and then within the the sub countries.
- 25:36So if you, instead of thinking about the UK as one big country,
- 25:40if you think about England, Scotland, Wales, Northern
- 25:42Ireland is different than in Scotland.
- 25:45Somebody in the Highlands will sound different to somebody from
- 25:48Edinburgh, from different from someone from Glasgow, and
- 25:52someone from the Welsh Valleys will sound completely different
- 25:55to somebody from Cardiff. So yeah, we're a country of many
- 26:02accents and dialects. Do you guys ever look at
- 26:04someone's accent and you're like.
- 26:09Oh yeah, that red we've got. We've got horrible stereotypes
- 26:12about accents from different places.
- 26:15So that's a worldwide thing. Beautiful.
- 26:21So back on to kick ass women of history.
- 26:26We talked about MI 13. Was there any distinct female
- 26:31characters that you want to see be brought into onto the big
- 26:36screen, or have they already been brought there?
- 26:38Who are your favorites? So I've talked about Pfizer
- 26:42Hussein, who would be fantastic. We've talked a little bit about
- 26:47Betsy Braddock, even though she's not in MI 13, she's just
- 26:50MI 13 adjacent, yeah. She's invited to the party, but
- 26:54she's not sitting in the meetings.
- 26:56Yeah, yeah, trying to think. So there is Megan, as well as
- 27:08one of the baddies. Yes, from Excalibur.
- 27:12Yeah, it'd be interesting. She would be very interesting to
- 27:16be to be brought like in live action.
- 27:20That would be insane. Yeah.
- 27:22And you've got this whole Arthurian mythology, which,
- 27:27although it is an actual history, has influenced our
- 27:31history so much because people did believe those myths for
- 27:36centuries. And it's those sort of ideas of
- 27:39courtly love. And that storytelling is really
- 27:42interesting to explore as well. Yeah, sorry, my daughter's just
- 27:49making animal noises in the other room for some reason.
- 27:57Yeah, that I would love to see her brought in because just
- 28:03bring all of Excalibur, adding Kate, Kate Pride, Nightcrawler
- 28:09with them, that oh, how much fun would that be?
- 28:12And taking it back so old school to the comics that just that
- 28:16would sing to my heart. Yeah, you could have a lot of
- 28:18fun with that. I think it would.
- 28:23Creating a sort of British Marvel verse could be really
- 28:27interesting because it wouldn't have to attach to the the MCU,
- 28:32which is getting very big and very convoluted.
- 28:35It could exist in its own bubble and do its own thing and then
- 28:39characters be brought over to America or the American ones
- 28:42popping over to Brenton as the story works.
- 28:46But you're not having to shoehorn in if you have it as a
- 28:49separate strain. Belly well, I agree.
- 28:53I think it'd be pretty cool. I mean, why not?
- 28:55There's so many British characters you already they had
- 28:59like their one token British character who was Peggy, Peggy
- 29:04and they. We absolutely love always well.
- 29:08They. Agent Carter deserved at least
- 29:11another series. I liked Agent Carter and Marvel
- 29:16was like, we have a British character, so you know what
- 29:19we're going to do? We are only going to use this
- 29:22one British character. It's like no one asked you to do
- 29:25that, though. You could have just given us a
- 29:26little bit more. My goodness.
- 29:30And I did like the what if around Peggy Carter with her is
- 29:36Captain Britain. That was that was fun.
- 29:38I was very confused about how they did that because usually
- 29:42the what if comics, they're not all connected, they're just kind
- 29:46of off the wall ideas. But with this one, they brought
- 29:50it all together with Peggy being the the constant of each one and
- 29:55that was very confusing, but I think they pulled it off really
- 29:58well. Yeah, and it was nice to see it
- 30:01in live action as well with Doctor Strange.
- 30:04Oh yeah, for for the littlest time we got.
- 30:08I know they really did waste that because you had you had how
- 30:13you had John Krasinski is it's fantastic, which we'd all been
- 30:18yelling for for fan casting. So for so long and like they
- 30:22didn't have to do that. You could have just let him
- 30:25live. He had said he had kids.
- 30:27Like this is rude. Yeah, they all have to die.
- 30:32Apparently she could have just not done it, just left the
- 30:36universe. But whatever, Wanda, it's fine.
- 30:39Do your thing. So this has been so much fun
- 30:45with you. Thank you again for coming on to
- 30:47my show. I've clearly learned so much
- 30:51from you. It's it's, it's going to be some
- 30:54of these facts that I just keep telling my friends over and over
- 30:58and like anyone that will stop and listen so I sound smarter.
- 31:01So thank you for that. Sorry for spinning the show off
- 31:04on so many tangents. That I love when people do that.
- 31:07I cannot stick to one subject. I feel like podcasting, you're
- 31:12supposed to talk and talk and talk, and I loved it.
- 31:17But oh, can I just bring one more thing up to pick up my my
- 31:20poor little country? We've just had confirmation that
- 31:26Jessica Jones is coming back. Do you know about the Jessica
- 31:30Jones novel where she comes to Essex?
- 31:33No, in the UK. No, I don't.
- 31:36So last summer there were a series of novels published that
- 31:44seem to each one be about one of the defenders and they were
- 31:50written by well respected other authors.
- 31:55So it was Lisa Jewell, I think, right, The Jessica Jones one
- 32:00who's the British writer. And yeah, she comes over to
- 32:05Essex. It's called Breaking the Dark
- 32:07and it's a really good read. But it is very odd because it
- 32:11does start in New York and it is the Jessica Jones that we all
- 32:14know from the comics, from the Marvel series.
- 32:17And yeah, she's in a relationship with a cage sort of
- 32:22and all of those things. But then, yeah, she she gets a
- 32:25case that involves her coming to the UK to just solve it.
- 32:31Oh I did not know that. I'm going to check that out.
- 32:34I freaking love Jessica Jones. I know it's because I I wouldn't
- 32:39normally picked up it because I love the character so much and
- 32:42it's all came up on my Amazon Kindle recommended reads.
- 32:46Thanks. OK, it's on offer 99 P.
- 32:49I'll get that. They know how to get you with
- 32:51those recommendations. My goodness.
- 32:55But yeah, I'll definitely check that out.
- 32:56That's really cool. OK, so I will stop, stop talking
- 33:00now. You're.
