- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and chili mornings on demand on 97.1 wash fm.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good morning dc it's 97.1 wash fm toby and chili
- 0:10Speaker 2: on a tuesday morning apparently uh the weather did not
- 0:14Speaker 2: get the memo that it's september we are uh like
- 0:17Speaker 2: in fall back to schools already happened and the temperatures
- 0:21Speaker 2: are going to be ridiculous today I know.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Just like yesterday, today, tomorrow, through Thursday, heat index and
- 0:27Speaker 3: the triple digits. Lord, Lord, Lord.
- 0:30Speaker 2: It's so bad when a school district puts out an
- 0:32Speaker 2: email to say, hey, guess what? We might have air
- 0:35Speaker 2: conditioning problems. That tells you that something serious is going
- 0:39Speaker 2: on with this weather. But enough about that. You know
- 0:42Speaker 2: why I'm feeling really good this morning?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Why is that?
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'm feeling good because I brought in some new zero
- 0:48Speaker 2: sugar creamer.
- 0:50Speaker 3: What flavor did you bring?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Chocolate caramel.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Really?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Because, you know, I've been very predictable with what we.
- 0:57Speaker 3: We usually either bring in the sweet, you know, Italian
- 0:59Speaker 3: sweet cream or vanilla. And sometimes the caramel macchiato.
- 1:04Speaker 2: The caramel macchiato is back. This one is brand new.
- 1:08Speaker 2: And then I brought in something with pumpkin spice just
- 1:11Speaker 2: in case.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Oh, come on.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I mean, I did it more or less for the
- 1:14Speaker 2: ha ha ha ha. And to do an unscientific experiment
- 1:17Speaker 2: to see how long it sits there.
- 1:19Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Because I think people have jumped the shark when it
- 1:21Speaker 2: comes to the pumpkin spice.
- 1:23Speaker 3: So you think the sales team will or will not
- 1:27Speaker 3: drink these pumpkin spice creamer?
- 1:28Speaker 2: I do not know, but you know I did not
- 1:30Speaker 2: put my name on these things. So, you know, it's
- 1:34Speaker 2: a wide open and general population for now.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, that's funny.
- 1:37Speaker 2: But we'll see because I'm going to take a sip
- 1:39Speaker 2: of this chocolate right now. Chocolate caramel. Oh, it's so.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I'll have to try it later on.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yes, chili. Oh, I was looking forward to this for days. Oh,
- 1:49Speaker 2: good for you.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I look forward to it as well.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Good for us. Go and enjoy some. So why are
- 1:54Speaker 2: you feeling good this morning?
- 1:55Speaker 3: I'll just piggyback on that. I'm looking forward to my
- 1:57Speaker 3: next cup of coffee with the new creamer.
- 2:01Speaker 2: That's exactly right. So you're waking up this morning in
- 2:04Speaker 2: Ashburn or maybe D.C., Riverdale. Why are you feeling good
- 2:07Speaker 2: this morning? Hit us up and tell us this early
- 2:10Speaker 2: morning what it is that's bringing you some joy. It's contagious.
- 2:14Speaker 2: 866-927-4361 is the number. Top Stories, top of the hour
- 2:18Speaker 2: on the way. Chili, what's going on?
- 2:19Speaker 3: New research shows that sleeping in on the weekends might
- 2:24Speaker 3: not be so bad after all. I've got all the
- 2:27Speaker 3: details in just a few.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Top Stories, top of the hour.
- 2:33Speaker 3: The Supreme Court cleared the way for the White House
- 2:35Speaker 3: ballroom construction to keep going, ruling that a preservation group
- 2:41Speaker 3: likely lacked standing to sue.
- 2:43Speaker 2: A D.C.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Police officer is dying after being shot inside the 2nd
- 2:47Speaker 3: District station. This happened early yesterday morning with police saying
- 2:51Speaker 3: that nobody else appears to have been involved and it's
- 2:54Speaker 3: unclear what led.
- 2:55Speaker 2: To that shooting.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Washington Manassas Airport has cleared a major hurdle toward commercial
- 3:01Speaker 3: service receiving the FAA's Part 139 operating certificate yesterday. Leaders
- 3:07Speaker 3: say now they're close to signing an airline agreement with
- 3:10Speaker 3: the first flights hoped for by November of 2027. Fairfax
- 3:15Speaker 3: County has rolled out four new self-service kiosks for paying
- 3:20Speaker 3: car taxes in Fairfax, Alexandria, Reston, and Annandale. The machines
- 3:25Speaker 3: take cash, checks, and credit cards and let you check
- 3:27Speaker 3: your balance or print a receipt. Car taxes, by the way,
- 3:31Speaker 3: are due October 5th. Virginia voters in 47 localities are
- 3:36Speaker 3: going to be deciding in November whether to add a 1%
- 3:40Speaker 3: sales tax to fund school construction. In Northern Virginia, the
- 3:44Speaker 3: revenue could also support transportation projects. International soccer star Lionel
- 3:50Speaker 3: Messi retiring from the Argentina national team. He made the
- 3:56Speaker 3: announcement about his decision on Instagram yesterday. And it turns
- 4:00Speaker 3: out that weekend sleeping in may not be so bad
- 4:04Speaker 3: for you after all. New research finds that in moderation,
- 4:08Speaker 3: catching up on sleep on Saturday and Sunday is actually
- 4:11Speaker 3: linked to lower blood pressure risk. And the sweet spot
- 4:15Speaker 3: is about 90 minutes of extra sleep. Forecast today, partly
- 4:19Speaker 3: cloudy skies, highs around 95, but the heat index is
- 4:22Speaker 3: going to feel over 100. Right now, 75 in Alexandria.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Information briefing done for this Tuesday morning. We call it
- 4:30Speaker 2: Top Stories at the top of the hour. The news
- 4:33Speaker 2: you really need to start your day with 97.1. Watch FM,
- 4:35Speaker 2: tell me you're chilling in the morning. And next, your
- 4:38Speaker 2: morning mindset. Some words this morning that I think will
- 4:42Speaker 2: inspire all of us about the struggles that we go through.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Tuesday morning, 97.1 Wash FM. Thank you for listening to
- 4:53Speaker 2: us in Okiesville as you get those lunches squared away
- 4:56Speaker 2: for the little ones who have to go grab a
- 4:58Speaker 2: bus soon, or maybe you're doing the drive-through line shuffle
- 5:03Speaker 2: this morning. Thinking about you as you go and maybe
- 5:07Speaker 2: this morning these words will really help you.
- 5:10Speaker 3: It's called our morning mindset we find and then share
- 5:13Speaker 3: a quote with you to think about as you take
- 5:15Speaker 3: on the rest of your day.
- 5:16Speaker 2: From Frederick Douglass this morning who reminds all of us
- 5:20Speaker 2: and this could be very appropriate for right now this morning.
- 5:23Speaker 2: If there's no struggle, there's no progress. If there's no struggle,
- 5:28Speaker 2: there is no progress. That's Frederick Douglass. Now, what does
- 5:31Speaker 2: that mean to us today? Well, it means that the
- 5:34Speaker 2: thing that feels really hard, harder than maybe we thought
- 5:37Speaker 2: it would feel, yeah, don't let that be a sign
- 5:42Speaker 2: for you to stop doing what you're doing. When you're
- 5:45Speaker 2: learning and you're changing and you're getting better and you're
- 5:47Speaker 2: standing up for things that are important to you, you're
- 5:50Speaker 2: going to meet resistance, right? Struggle is not your destination.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Sometimes that struggle is a part of the road that
- 5:57Speaker 2: gets you somewhere. So embrace it. There's no struggle. There's
- 6:02Speaker 2: no progress. Keep going. Frederick Douglas with your morning mindset.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Need it? Find it. Toby and Tilly Page, washfm.com. Also
- 6:11Speaker 2: on our social channels too. And if you've got something
- 6:14Speaker 2: you want to share with the class, you know where
- 6:16Speaker 2: to find us. Hang out for a few because in
- 6:19Speaker 2: minutes with Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 6:20Speaker 3: A second grade teacher in Atlanta has gone viral for
- 6:23Speaker 3: creating a very unique corner in her classroom.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Oh, unique is one way of putting it.
- 6:29Speaker 3: It may be inspiring other teachers in the DMV. Stick around.
- 6:32Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM. We're Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 6:36Speaker 2: And morning, you are going to hear a word that
- 6:41Speaker 2: is another way of describing flatulence just now. So if
- 6:44Speaker 2: that offends you, you probably should go ahead and turn
- 6:47Speaker 2: it down. If now you're interested, turn it up because
- 6:49Speaker 2: we're going to talk about this corner in a classroom
- 6:52Speaker 2: that's got people talking right now.
- 6:54Speaker 3: A second grade teacher in Atlanta has gone viral for
- 6:57Speaker 3: creating a designated quarter in her classroom for passing gas.
- 7:01Speaker 3: This is our fart corner. If you need to fart,
- 7:04Speaker 3: simply come over here, fart, take about 10 seconds, get
- 7:07Speaker 3: your little spray going on.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Go sit down.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Nobody's paying attention.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Nobody cares.
- 7:13Speaker 2: If we were on social media right about now, I'd
- 7:15Speaker 2: be going, why? God, why? God, why? What was she thinking? Why, God, why?
- 7:22Speaker 3: Well, 36-year-old Candy Browning says the reason she came up
- 7:25Speaker 3: with this is because it's less disruptive than having students
- 7:29Speaker 3: raise their hands, going out in the hallway, and then
- 7:31Speaker 3: coming back in. This way, if they need to pass gas,
- 7:34Speaker 3: they go to the gas station or the fart corner
- 7:37Speaker 3: and And they take care of their business. But what
- 7:40Speaker 3: I what I'm having trouble with is nobody cares. Really,
- 7:44Speaker 3: they're second graders. Farting is funny. And I'm guessing when
- 7:47Speaker 3: their classmate goes up to that corner to pass gas,
- 7:50Speaker 3: they're going to be giggling. And let's not even get
- 7:53Speaker 3: into the how do you call it? The funk of
- 7:55Speaker 3: 40,000 years.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 2: They're not enough Febreze for that. Because what if there's
- 7:59Speaker 2: a line? There's multiple kids who had something gassy for
- 8:03Speaker 2: lunch that mom packed. This is to me not a
- 8:05Speaker 2: good idea. I was a second grade boy once upon
- 8:08Speaker 2: a time. You would not have me paying attention to
- 8:12Speaker 2: anything you're trying to teach me because I'd be watching
- 8:14Speaker 2: who is going to that fart corner. And then I'd
- 8:17Speaker 2: be like, Sally had to fart. You know, it's going
- 8:20Speaker 2: to happen.
- 8:20Speaker 3: But she's saying it doesn't happen. The concept proved so
- 8:23Speaker 3: popular that returning students asked for it again at the
- 8:26Speaker 3: start of the new school year. So if it was
- 8:28Speaker 3: as disruptive as we think it was, she wouldn't have
- 8:31Speaker 3: brought it back.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I want cameras in that classroom to prove that point
- 8:34Speaker 2: that you just made, Chili. Until then, I'll stay open-minded
- 8:37Speaker 2: about said corner of flatulence. What did you call it earlier?
- 8:40Speaker 2: The gas station. Well, you know, either she's the smartest
- 8:43Speaker 2: teacher on the planet or she successfully found a way
- 8:46Speaker 2: to keep that class laughing and entertained all period long.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You decide. Read more if you want to. Toby and
- 8:54Speaker 2: Chili page, watchfm.com and hang out. Coming up, top stories
- 8:57Speaker 2: at the top of the hour. Chili Amar, what's in

- 11:23Speaker 3: of Gen Z employees admit they call in sick at
- 11:27Speaker 3: least once this past year. when they actually weren't. That

- 11:34Speaker 3: of those under the age of 25 say they faked
- 11:37Speaker 3: at least five sick days this year. Forecast for today,

- 13:55Speaker 2: trial thing, especially if you know you're not going to
- 13:58Speaker 2: cancel it. It's not going to cancel itself. And then
- 14:02Speaker 2: all of a sudden you wonder why you maxed out

- 17:54Speaker 3: This all comes after months of reported tension between himself

- 18:01Speaker 3: way for the White House ballroom construction to keep going,
- 18:04Speaker 3: ruling that a preservation group likely lacked standing to sue.
- 18:10Speaker 3: A D.C. police officer has died after a shooting inside
- 18:12Speaker 3: the 2nd District Station. This happened early yesterday morning. Police
- 18:16Speaker 3: say nothing currently indicates that anyone else was involved. A
- 18:20Speaker 3: Dumfries woman facing multiple charges after police say she left
- 18:25Speaker 3: a one-year-old and two nephews unsupervised in deplorable conditions to
- 18:30Speaker 3: attend an event. Officers arrested 30-year-old Jania King when she
- 18:34Speaker 3: returned the next morning, and she allegedly tried to flee
- 18:38Speaker 3: and assaulted officers. Washington Manassas Airport has cleared a major
- 18:42Speaker 3: hurdle toward commercial service, receiving the FAA's Part 139 operating

- 19:02Speaker 3: a live festival actually were able to tolerate pain significantly
- 19:06Speaker 3: longer than before, thanks to oxytocin release and the emotional
- 19:11Speaker 3: release that heavy metal music provides. Forecast for today, partly
- 19:16Speaker 3: cloudy skies, another hot day. Highs around 95 with that
- 19:19Speaker 3: heat index over 100. Right now, 76 in Annandale.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Toby and Chili's Nearly Impossible Question.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Free tickets at Sheer in Philadelphia. What is the question
- 19:30Speaker 2: this morning?
- 19:32Speaker 3: 52% of people say they would consider breaking up with
- 19:34Speaker 3: a partner because they love this. I will tell you
- 19:38Speaker 3: it's a flavor of something.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Oh, well, 866-927-4361 is the number. Get it right. You're
- 19:46Speaker 2: going to go see Ed Sheeran at the link in Philadelphia.
- 19:50Speaker 2: It'll be an incredible show. Trust me. It's Ed. He's
- 19:54Speaker 2: just phenomenal. Here's the question again.
- 19:57Speaker 3: 52% of people would consider breaking up with a partner
- 20:00Speaker 3: because they love this flavor. What is it?
- 20:04Speaker 2: Got the question. You know the number. Call now. The
- 20:06Speaker 2: game is on.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Toby and chili's nearly impossible question if you win you're
- 20:12Speaker 4: taking a road trip to see ed sheeran here is
- 20:15Speaker 4: the question this morning.
- 20:16Speaker 3: 52 percent of people would consider breaking up with their
- 20:19Speaker 3: partner because their partner loves this seasonal treat what is
- 20:23Speaker 3: it 866-927-4361.
- 20:25Speaker 2: That is our number. Call us now. Get it right.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Tickets to see Ed Sheeran at The Link in Philly.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Thanks to our friends at AEG. What is your name
- 20:35Speaker 2: and where are you from this morning?
- 20:38Speaker 4: Arsh from Germantown.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Oh, hello there and welcome. You've got the question for
- 20:43Speaker 2: the tickets to see Ed Sheeran at The Link in Philadelphia.
- 20:47Speaker 2: What is your guest this morning?
- 20:50Speaker 3: Flavor of pumpkin spice. So you think people would be
- 20:54Speaker 3: turned off by the fact that someone's ordering something pumpkin
- 20:58Speaker 3: spice flavored?
- 20:58Speaker 1: I hope so.
- 21:00Speaker 2: I'm a lover, too.
- 21:01Speaker 3: I don't know that I would break up with somebody
- 21:05Speaker 3: if they ordered a pumpkin spice, but I can see
- 21:07Speaker 3: how I'd be like, that gives me the ick.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Be like, we got issues.
- 21:12Speaker 3: That is an excellent guess. 52% of people would consider
- 21:16Speaker 3: breaking up with a partner because they love anything with
- 21:19Speaker 3: pumpkin spice. That's the right answer.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Tickets, Ed Sheeran, Philadelphia, hopefully 95 Northbound. Ain't too much
- 21:26Speaker 2: of a mess as you make your way up there
- 21:28Speaker 2: to see Ed. It's going to be a great show.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Thanks to AEG. Tickets are yours.
- 21:33Speaker 5: Thank you. Thank you, guys. You guys are awesome.
- 21:36Speaker 2: No, you are awesome. We just bask in the awesomeness
- 21:40Speaker 2: of you. And thank you for letting us be a
- 21:42Speaker 2: part of your morning.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Have a great day.
- 21:44Speaker 2: More tickets tomorrow morning with another round of your Nearly
- 21:47Speaker 2: Impossible Question. Be here to play and win right around
- 21:51Speaker 2: 7-10 after Top Stories at the top of the hour.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Also this morning.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Right around 740, we're going to talk about a new
- 21:57Speaker 3: dating tool, Stud or Dud. Was there ever anything you
- 22:02Speaker 3: discovered about somebody after you started dating them?
- 22:05Speaker 4: 866-927-4361 because we're talking.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Stud or dud, because that's just what the world needs.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Another dating app. It's 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and Chili
- 22:18Speaker 2: in the morning. Did you hear about this new one? Well,
- 22:21Speaker 2: the stud or dud is really going to be helpful.
- 22:23Speaker 2: It's a new tool that helps you look up public
- 22:26Speaker 2: records to vet any potential dates. So just enter your
- 22:30Speaker 2: date's name and see what any public information exists out there.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Isn't that like Googling somebody?
- 22:36Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:36Speaker 6: Yes.
- 22:37Speaker 3: We all do this, right? We look at people's social media.
- 22:39Speaker 3: We look to see if they have criminal records. I
- 22:41Speaker 3: think this is just a one-stop shopping place that they
- 22:44Speaker 3: can kind of find anything that's out there about their financials,
- 22:47Speaker 3: their property ownership, employment history, all that is available. But
- 22:50Speaker 3: to your point, it's not that unique. But that's just
- 22:52Speaker 3: looking at one component of somebody like financials or property ownership.
- 22:57Speaker 3: You don't really learn a whole lot of person's character
- 23:00Speaker 3: by the stud or dud. So you may come to
- 23:03Speaker 3: find out something kind of shocking after the fact.
- 23:07Speaker 2: And that happened with you, Stephanie in Alexandria. Good morning
- 23:11Speaker 2: and thanks for calling us at 866-927-4361. This went down
- 23:13Speaker 2: with your husband? Well, he's my ex-husband.
- 23:18Speaker 5: Well, when we were dating, we went to church together
- 23:20Speaker 5: and I saw him get baptized and everything. And within
- 23:22Speaker 5: a few months after getting married, he came out and
- 23:24Speaker 5: said he was atheist the whole time.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Well, I can see why that would be a thing.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Not okay.
- 23:32Speaker 5: It caused a lot of problems with the whole belief
- 23:35Speaker 5: system and everything. So that was probably the biggest thing.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Well, I'm sorry you had to go through that, but
- 23:40Speaker 3: at least you found out before wasting any more years
- 23:43Speaker 3: of your life with him.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Although I will say in his defense, you know, forgiveness
- 23:47Speaker 2: is a hallmark of Christianity. One would think that perhaps
- 23:52Speaker 2: maybe some forgiveness might have helped things. If only we
- 23:55Speaker 2: had a dating app that accounted for that might be
- 23:58Speaker 2: a thing. Toby and Chili in the morning. It is
- 24:01Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM. Read more on the Toby and Chili
- 24:03Speaker 2: page at washfm.com. And right around 8, 10 this morning,

- 24:09Speaker 2: what's going on?

- 24:13Speaker 3: the hardest talk parents have with their kids is about
- 24:16Speaker 3: something else entirely. And you'll find out what it is
- 24:19Speaker 3: in just a few minutes.
- 24:20Speaker 2: You've seen the Nats play in Nats Park, but have
- 24:22Speaker 2: you seen the Nats from these seats? 97.1 Wash FM.
- 24:27Speaker 2: We're still being chilly in the morning.

- 24:53Speaker 3: The Supreme Court has ruled to let the president's White
- 24:55Speaker 3: House ballroom construction continue. We've got the latest on that
- 25:00Speaker 3: story and others on the way. With Toby and Chili
- 25:03Speaker 3: in the morning on 97.1 WASH-FM.
- 25:08Speaker 4: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has submitted his resignation to the
- 25:14Speaker 3: president after months of tension with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
- 25:18Speaker 3: This now leaves the army without a Senate confirmed leader
- 25:22Speaker 3: as the U.S. war with Iran drags into its sixth month.
- 25:26Speaker 3: The Supreme Court ruled to let the president's White House
- 25:29Speaker 3: ballroom construction continue while a lawsuit over it plays out,
- 25:34Speaker 3: sending the case back to a lower court. It's a
- 25:37Speaker 3: process that could take months. And in the meantime, let
- 25:40Speaker 3: Cruz make major progress in the project. Five Loudoun County
- 25:44Speaker 3: men remain missing after the flash flooding hit their Himalayan
- 25:48Speaker 3: hiking trip in Nepal last week. Families have shared the
- 25:51Speaker 3: men's last known cell phone locations with authorities. D.C. 's
- 25:56Speaker 3: attorney general is suing a local nonprofit founder over alleged
- 26:00Speaker 3: misuse of grant funds. Brian Schwab says that Alison Abrams,
- 26:05Speaker 3: who founded Empowerment Justice Center and Empowerment Liberation Cathedral, funneled D.C.
- 26:11Speaker 3: grant money into her real estate business and other personal expenses.
- 26:17Speaker 3: International soccer star Lionel Messi is retiring from the Argentina
- 26:22Speaker 3: national team. He announced his decision in an Instagram post yesterday.
- 26:27Speaker 3: And a new survey finds that 57% of parents say
- 26:30Speaker 3: discussing drugs, alcohol, or sex would actually be easier than
- 26:35Speaker 3: talking about finances. And a third of parents admit they
- 26:39Speaker 3: dodged the money talk with their kids because of their
- 26:42Speaker 3: own financial baggage. Forecast for today, partly cloudy skies, highs
- 26:46Speaker 3: around 95, but that heat index is going to make
- 26:49Speaker 3: it feel over 100 degrees. Right now, 76 in Germantown.
- 26:54Speaker 2: And that's the news. Don't forget, get top stories at

- 28:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:52Speaker 3: I would never. Do you know who you might bring?
- 28:55Speaker 5: I don't know yet, no.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Well, I mean, for these seats, I mean, right behind
- 28:59Speaker 2: home plate in the Terra Club, that's like, yes, money
- 29:02Speaker 2: could buy that, but oh, you'd be broke for about
- 29:05Speaker 2: three or four months.
- 29:10Speaker 4: That's understandable.
