- 0:04Randy Black. Randy Black. Randy Black. Randy Black. Randy Black. Randy Black. Black. He's a troublemaker. Welcome back to Randy Unscripted. I'm Randy Black, and this episode marks
- 0:14day eight of my napod promo journey for national podcast post month where podcasters and creators around the world take on the challenge
- 0:23of producing 30 episodes in thirty days. It's a creative stretch that pushes consistency,
- 0:29sparks innovation,
- 0:31and keeps those microphones warm
- 0:33all month long.
- 0:36Today, I'm sharing something I'm especially excited about, my upcoming experience at Pod Indy, an independent podcasting and content creator event happening in Indiana tomorrow.
- 0:48If you're a creator or just curious about how AI is reshaping the podcasting world, you're gonna wanna stick around for this one.
- 0:56Pod Indy is a one day event built for independent creators like podcasters, YouTubers,
- 1:02educators, business owners, pastors, communicators,
- 1:05individuals
- 1:06who want to grow their craft and connect with others walking the same creative road. The name Pod Indy combines podcasting
- 1:13and indie, a nod to both its Indiana home base and the independent spirit that drives its mission.
- 1:21The event started a few years ago as a small in person meetup in Whiteland, Indiana giving local podcasters
- 1:27a space to learn,
- 1:28collaborate,
- 1:29and share resources.
- 1:31Since then, it's evolved into an annual event that draws creators from across the region for workshops,
- 1:36speaker sessions,
- 1:38and authentic networking opportunities.
- 1:41By 2024, Pod Indy had grown into something much larger. That year's theme, profit from your podcast amplified with AI,
- 1:50centered on how creators could build sustainable shows and use technology to enhance their workflow.
- 1:56Two of the featured speakers were doctor Craig Van Slyke from Louisiana Tech University and Dave Jackson, the founder of the school of podcasting and the author of profit from your podcast.
- 2:06Both are returning this year for pod indie twenty twenty five, which takes place this weekend. It's taking place tomorrow, Saturday, November 8 at the heaven earth podcast studio in Whiteland, Indiana.
- 2:17The event the theme this year is AI for content creators.
- 2:21It's a hands on workshop running from 9AM to 1PM with registration and coffee starting about 08:00 in the morning, and, yes, you'll wanna ring your laptop.
- 2:30The day currently scheduled to wrap up with a a casual pizza lunch and plenty of time for creators to keep the conversation going.
- 2:39So
- 2:40why am I making the trip
- 2:42four and a half hours to Pod Indy this year?
- 2:46Well, it actually started with a connection.
- 2:49The events organizer, doctor Brad Miller, host of the cancer and comedy podcast,
- 2:53was a guest on one of my other podcasts, shooting it straight, where we had a fantastic
- 2:58conversation about communication,
- 3:00purpose, and faith in action along with humor and how humor is a healing
- 3:05component of the human body.
- 3:09My cohost on that show, we've talked about before, coach Jim Clayton, away. Jim was
- 3:14invited to be a guest on Brad's podcast but never had the opportunity.
- 3:19Not long after everything that's been going on lately with with that and after the interview with Brad, he reached out to me, and he personally invited me to come to this year's pod indie.
- 3:29Not just to attend.
- 3:30He actually called and asked me to take part in a panel discussion about the use of AI
- 3:35in and for podcasting.
- 3:38That invitation was both an honor and an opportunity that I could not turn down.
- 3:43As someone who works at the intersection of education,
- 3:46technology, and communication,
- 3:48I'm passionate about how AI can be used responsibly
- 3:52to empower creators,
- 3:54not to replace them.
- 3:55Getting discussed that alongside with other thoughtful voices in the podcasting community is something that I'm genuinely
- 4:02looking forward to.
- 4:04And to make the event even better,
- 4:06this
- 4:07event's going to to also give me the chance to to finally meet in person Dave Jackson from the school of podcasting. We've been connected online for several years, and his work has been a huge influence on my own podcasting journey.
- 4:20But meeting him face to face along with reconnecting with Brad and meeting him face to face for the first time and being able to learn from doctor Vance Lyke,
- 4:29it makes this weekend full
- 4:31of what I wanna call full circle moments.
- 4:36Throughout the event, I'm gonna record reflections. I'm gonna take notes,
- 4:39possibly even capture a few conversations to share in future episodes here on Randy Unscripted.
- 4:45I wanna bring you my top takeaways from Pod Endy, the most useful ideas I can find about creativity,
- 4:52about connection, about how AI is being applied in real world podcasting.
- 4:57If you're a creator looking to better understand the balance between
- 5:02human storytelling
- 5:03and
- 5:04smart technology,
- 5:05the follow-up episode,
- 5:07it's gonna be one that will be worth your time.
- 5:11Pod Indy is more than just a conference.
- 5:13It's a gathering of people who believe in the power of voice and story.
- 5:18It's a reminder that while tools and technologies evolve,
- 5:21what truly matters are the people behind the microphones
- 5:25and the messages they share.
- 5:28Being a Christian, I'm gonna slide some scripture in here to illustrate a point.
- 5:31Colossians three twenty three reminds us,
- 5:34and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily,
- 5:37ask to the Lord and not unto men.
- 5:39That's the mindset I'm bringing into Pot Indy this weekend,
- 5:43to learn, contribute,
- 5:45and ultimately create with purpose.
- 5:48Until the next time, I'm Randy Black. This is Randy Unscripted, and I'm reminding you to keep learning, to stay curious,
- 5:56and I'll catch you on the next one.
- 5:58Don't even try to take credit for that.
