- 0:01Speaker 1: In this corner, standing at six foot five, weight class unknowns,
- 0:04Speaker 1: but hailing from the city of Sins.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Put your hands together for Jamison Welch.
- 0:08Speaker 1: And in this corner, standing at five foot ten, weighing
- 0:11Speaker 1: in at pound and coming to us from his super
- 0:15Speaker 1: secret bunker with no ac in Tucson, Arizona. Put your
- 0:18Speaker 1: hands together for Louis Montemao.
- 0:26Speaker 3: All right, welcome back to another episode of Let's Tell
- 0:29Speaker 3: Me Podcast. Will be a shorty edition. As always, I'm
- 0:32Speaker 3: one half of the show. This is Jamison going by
- 0:34Speaker 3: the Louis the wist.
- 0:35Speaker 4: What's going on, man, Jamison.
- 0:37Speaker 5: We had a cool weekend to fights last Saturday that
- 0:40Speaker 5: I wanted to get into here. Of course, we saw
- 0:43Speaker 5: the long awaited fight between Lamont Roach and Williams Szepeta.
- 0:47Speaker 4: I was very excited about it. I was rooting for Roach.
- 0:49Speaker 5: Unfortunately it was not to be put in a good performance.
- 0:52Speaker 5: But man, Williams Pepea, that looked fucking great that night,
- 0:55Speaker 5: and I just wanted to start by getting your thoughts
- 0:57Speaker 5: on what we saw on Saturday.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yeah, man, that's it was interesting because roaches come off
- 1:03Speaker 3: two draws, which is very odd just in general, right,
- 1:07Speaker 3: a guy fighting two different guys and having unique draws
- 1:10Speaker 3: in both fights and then coming out kind of lackluster
- 1:13Speaker 3: in this one. And then you have Sapata, who came
- 1:15Speaker 3: off a loss, but a pretty contested, understandable loss, fought
- 1:19Speaker 3: really well like he fought. I mean you the preparation,
- 1:23Speaker 3: the planning, I felt like the style, he had a lot.
- 1:26Speaker 3: He was the better fighter all night, and it was
- 1:29Speaker 3: really not a close, to be honest with you. With
- 1:31Speaker 3: that being said, you can tell that Roach at one
- 1:35Speaker 3: point in time was just a card filler and the
- 1:40Speaker 3: Peta was a legit contender. Even though Roach's last two
- 1:43Speaker 3: fights were of quality. You can tell, hey, Roach is
- 1:48Speaker 3: who he is. He's not bad, but at the same time,
- 1:51Speaker 3: it's levels right, You could tell Cepeda's probably gonna get
- 1:54Speaker 3: a title.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Fight or a big fight soon. That was a difference to.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Me anyway, absolutely, And you know, Lamon Roach had came
- 2:01Speaker 5: out with excellent defense. I think me speaking not as
- 2:05Speaker 5: an expert in somebody who was never good at sporing anyway,
- 2:07Speaker 5: was the counterpunches weren't there.
- 2:10Speaker 4: He was throwing combos.
- 2:11Speaker 5: He was had good defense, but he needed a shorten
- 2:14Speaker 5: the time in between the defense.
- 2:15Speaker 4: And punching back. You know, a lot of people make
- 2:18Speaker 4: fun of Shakur Stevens.
- 2:19Speaker 5: And saying he's a boring fighter. He just runs, he
- 2:21Speaker 5: doesn't actually engage. No, that dude has the highest percentage
- 2:25Speaker 5: of hitting and not being.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Hit of most fighters. Like he knows how to not
- 2:29Speaker 4: get caught, but he'd also counterpunches.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Okay, let's not hold that one terrible Dela Santo's fight
- 2:35Speaker 5: against him, and I think that's what was missing from Roach.
- 2:39Speaker 4: You could see him also his defense slowing down and
- 2:42Speaker 4: like I don't know, Brown, like.
- 2:43Speaker 5: Let's say nine, he was making those similar moves, but
- 2:46Speaker 5: he was getting caught a lot more so. His speed
- 2:49Speaker 5: definitely decreased when it came to the bobbing, leaving and dodging.
- 2:51Speaker 4: But very exciting at least.
- 2:55Speaker 5: I had a lot of fun watching it, and I
- 2:57Speaker 5: think that, you know, Lamont Rose definitely deserves to to
- 3:00Speaker 5: continue getting more fights.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Is he going to be the biggest star in the world.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Definitely not. But I had a good time. And we
- 3:07Speaker 4: also have to give a shout out.
- 3:08Speaker 5: To T and T for airing that on live or
- 3:11Speaker 5: you know, on regular TV, not streaming. I got to
- 3:16Speaker 5: watch it at a craft beer bar and Tucson A
- 3:17Speaker 5: shout out to the Broadway.
- 3:18Speaker 4: You guys are awesome. I asked the bartender to borrow
- 3:20Speaker 4: a TV.
- 3:22Speaker 5: There are people watching a baseball game, which is I
- 3:24Speaker 5: don't know why I didn't they'd crowd around my TV
- 3:26Speaker 5: to watch boxing, because that's a real sports is not
- 3:29Speaker 5: boring as hell. But no, I was really really happy
- 3:32Speaker 5: to be able to watch it out in public, grabbing
- 3:34Speaker 5: a beer. It was on mute because the bar was
- 3:37Speaker 5: playing their music, but it didn't bother me that much honestly.
- 3:41Speaker 5: But yeah, I mean, I think that William Sepeda is
- 3:44Speaker 5: definitely a name to keep an eye on.
- 3:46Speaker 4: I believe he only has the one loss to Shakur, right,
- 3:49Speaker 4: I don't think Yeah, so one.
- 3:52Speaker 5: L doesn't do anything to derail somebody's career if they're
- 3:54Speaker 5: a good fighter, you know, have a promising career. So
- 3:57Speaker 5: I really want to see more from this guy. And
- 4:00Speaker 5: you know, I was still tune in to watch Lamont
- 4:01Speaker 5: Roach fight. I'm not saying that you know he's dead
- 4:03Speaker 5: to me or anything like.
- 4:04Speaker 4: That, but are you will you turn in or what's
- 4:09Speaker 4: it with your take on anything?
- 4:11Speaker 3: He can't be the better fighter than for me to
- 4:14Speaker 3: tune in, and that's why I'm app with it. But
- 4:15Speaker 3: if he's on a card, cool, But if he's like,
- 4:18Speaker 3: if he's in the headlining fight, he's the best fighter.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I mean, he'll be on the background, but I'm not
- 4:23Speaker 3: like having that much.
- 4:27Speaker 4: That's fair.
- 4:27Speaker 5: I guess when you say like he's the main guy,
- 4:30Speaker 5: then you know, uh, it says a.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Lot about the opponent and the quality of the card.
- 4:34Speaker 5: But uh no, I mean know, he gave a lot
- 4:36Speaker 5: of respect to that and you know said he he
- 4:38Speaker 5: was surprised me and he came out strong.
- 4:40Speaker 4: So he's a very gracious, gracious loss for him. Uh
- 4:43Speaker 4: here's the thing.
- 4:44Speaker 5: I was bummed at he lost, But I'm also just
- 4:45Speaker 5: happy that we didn't get another draw because in the
- 4:47Speaker 5: first few rounds they looked evenly matched.
- 4:50Speaker 2: It could have went that way, right dude.
- 4:53Speaker 5: Then when, oh god, what's his name? The guy that
- 4:56Speaker 5: always has the unofficial scorecards? When am I blanking on
- 4:59Speaker 5: his name?
- 5:00Speaker 2: I know you think I can't think it was the
- 5:01Speaker 2: name either. I was gonna say the letter. Remember that's
- 5:02Speaker 2: not ragged.
- 5:03Speaker 4: It's whatever they are chrismatics. Chris manis yep ye.
- 5:06Speaker 5: After the first four rounds Chris Mannix had it even
- 5:09Speaker 5: and I just I said out loud to the TV,
- 5:11Speaker 5: fuck you Mannix. No, this better not be how it
- 5:13Speaker 5: turns out. I'm gonna be pissed. But it wasn't gonna be.
- 5:15Speaker 5: It was not that wasn't gonna happen.
- 5:17Speaker 3: That wasn't happen.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Now, like I said, I saw it out of the bar.
- 5:22Speaker 5: The sound was off and I did see the open
- 5:25Speaker 5: scoring on the screen. Did they do the thing they
- 5:27Speaker 5: did last time where they announced it in the middle.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Of a round or did they just leave it up?
- 5:31Speaker 3: I think it was when I was the end of
- 5:33Speaker 3: the round. I think, okay, yeah, I don't remember off top.
- 5:36Speaker 3: But I'm not a fan of open scoring. I'm not
- 5:38Speaker 3: a fan of it. I mean it takes the entry
- 5:42Speaker 3: away from the fans. Like the boxers kind of know
- 5:45Speaker 3: where they're at the fight for the most part. As
- 5:47Speaker 3: a boxer, you know your corner should know. But as
- 5:50Speaker 3: a fan, I don't want to know the score. Well,
- 5:52Speaker 3: I don't want to know, like if anything, maybe if
- 5:56Speaker 3: you're to do open scoring, you can do it after
- 5:57Speaker 3: like the sixth round or something, But I don't need
- 6:00Speaker 3: to know after every round.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Every third round, I prefer not to know.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I believe they put it up round like five,
- 6:08Speaker 5: but they only put up the scores for the first three,
- 6:10Speaker 5: and I'm like, that's what's the.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Point in that.
- 6:12Speaker 5: I did say in the previous episode when we talked
- 6:15Speaker 5: about open scoring that I didn't have a really strong
- 6:18Speaker 5: opinion either way.
- 6:19Speaker 4: I wasn't like upset about it.
- 6:20Speaker 5: But with time and seeing it on Saturday, I pop
- 6:22Speaker 5: up a couple of times. I'm leaning more towards dislike
- 6:25Speaker 5: than apathy. It's just unnecessary. I never thought it's something
- 6:31Speaker 5: that really benefits the sport that much. And just to
- 6:35Speaker 5: you know, the at the last fight where that came up,
- 6:37Speaker 5: a lot of the commentaris were saying, every other sport
- 6:39Speaker 5: has it, but that's not enough of a reason to
- 6:41Speaker 5: do it.
- 6:42Speaker 2: No, it's not. I was sparing boxing though.
- 6:43Speaker 3: You know.
- 6:44Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 6:44Speaker 3: I think we have to understand that letterry spport me
- 6:47Speaker 3: every sport, but we have to make sure box and
- 6:49Speaker 3: keep the supurity and keep boxing what makes boxing great.
- 6:53Speaker 3: We don't need open scoring every fight. I would take
- 6:56Speaker 3: away from a lot of fights. But also, to be
- 7:00Speaker 3: with you, it also messed with the head of the
- 7:03Speaker 3: boxer as well, because now you kind of get out
- 7:06Speaker 3: of your your planning if you know the score. Why,
- 7:09Speaker 3: I just don't think it's a good idea.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Yeah, the justification that was used was that it'll give
- 7:14Speaker 5: boxes a chance to adjust. But like you said, they
- 7:16Speaker 5: should know, they should be experienced enough to.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Know where they're at, what they're doing wrong.
- 7:20Speaker 5: And even you know, they might have a plan on
- 7:23Speaker 5: how to get the later rounds back, doesn't mean they're
- 7:26Speaker 5: able to input it. If you know, we've seen plenty
- 7:29Speaker 5: of corners tell the guy throw a jab, throw the
- 7:31Speaker 5: jets of the jab, and the guy just doesn't do it,
- 7:33Speaker 5: or you know whatever, you know, you move, CounterPunch, come
- 7:37Speaker 5: in with a double jab.
- 7:38Speaker 4: I've heard that recently and the fighter just wasn't doing it.
- 7:40Speaker 4: So if they can't, they can't do it. They can't
- 7:42Speaker 4: do it, doesn't matter what the score.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Is, you know, true, very true.
- 7:46Speaker 5: So yeah, so I'm still not at the point where
- 7:48Speaker 5: I'm like, you know, annoyed by a piste about it
- 7:50Speaker 5: that it shows up, and it's just like we don't
- 7:52Speaker 5: need it. I don't think it's really benefits the sport
- 7:55Speaker 5: to have it. I think we should kind of just
- 7:57Speaker 5: move away from it. But but if that's the case,
- 8:01Speaker 5: because I believe the last time this happened was during
- 8:05Speaker 5: the last TNT event, right, yeah, so this might be
- 8:09Speaker 5: a thing we just have to deal with going forward.
- 8:11Speaker 5: It's like another one. It was one of the ZUFA events, Sue,
- 8:14Speaker 5: I don't see. I don't think so, I don't remember.
- 8:16Speaker 5: That's kind of get a little if.
- 8:18Speaker 3: There was one of TNT events and another one on
- 8:21Speaker 3: top of that as well. I want to say it
- 8:23Speaker 3: was one of the zoof events.
- 8:24Speaker 5: You may be right, yeah, I think this in this time,
- 8:28Speaker 5: we're kind of taking the good with the bad. Is yes,
- 8:31Speaker 5: we're gonna have fights on TNT and they're going to
- 8:33Speaker 5: be on regular television.
- 8:35Speaker 4: I'll be able to watch them at a.
- 8:36Speaker 5: Bar, but I have to deal with seeing the legitimate
- 8:38Speaker 5: scores on screen.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Which is like right, fine, I guess, but yeah again,
- 8:44Speaker 4: you know good.
- 8:45Speaker 5: I thought good production from what I saw on on TNT.
- 8:48Speaker 5: So I'm really enjoying this series, this monthly series of fights.
- 8:51Speaker 5: I don't know how you're feeling about it so far,
- 8:53Speaker 5: Like I'm man.
- 8:54Speaker 2: It's blessing.
- 8:55Speaker 3: It's really cool man, to watch fights that you normally
- 8:58Speaker 3: wouldn't see, or maybe like it's good to see you
- 9:02Speaker 3: every weekend.
- 9:02Speaker 2: We've had pretty good fights.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Yeah, now we'll say so. Last TNT, the main event
- 9:08Speaker 4: was Abdulla Mason up and coming star. Then you got
- 9:10Speaker 4: Roach for Stipeta, both.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Coming off from you know, not wins, but having a
- 9:14Speaker 5: lot of hype for their fight for the matchup next month.
- 9:17Speaker 5: I don't know if you saw that the TNT matches
- 9:20Speaker 5: Andy Ruiz coming back. I'm curious. I'm not gonna say
- 9:27Speaker 5: I'm like super stoked to see him back in the ring,
- 9:29Speaker 5: but I'm very curious. I mean, I can't when it
- 9:33Speaker 5: comes to like the biggest flameouts in recent boxing memory,
- 9:37Speaker 5: it's him that comes to mind.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah, but what were our expectations.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Well, i mean based based on his win against anthy
- 9:45Speaker 5: Joshed the big upset, Like this guy has an upset
- 9:48Speaker 5: and you think, hey, maybe this is the new guy
- 9:50Speaker 5: and just.
- 9:51Speaker 3: No, his body's told you that that was him never
- 9:55Speaker 3: getting in serious shape, told you he was never going
- 9:58Speaker 3: to be the guy.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Well, you can't look fat.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Joe and be a headway champ like it worked that
- 10:02Speaker 3: way we all. I mean, fat Joe's a lot of
- 10:05Speaker 3: weight and he's the way up shape down that he
- 10:07Speaker 3: used to be. But you can't have that body type
- 10:09Speaker 3: and be the headway champ. You cannot, like there's no
- 10:13Speaker 3: you cannot.
- 10:13Speaker 2: You just can't.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Like you have. There's a certain type of cardio vascular
- 10:18Speaker 3: you know, look and feel you gotta have in order
- 10:21Speaker 3: to be the chance to look you gotta have it.
- 10:23Speaker 3: And there's no way he was gonna be the champ
- 10:24Speaker 3: for any any longer, gonna fight.
- 10:27Speaker 4: That's fair, that's fair.
- 10:28Speaker 5: I you know, the win was the win, and it
- 10:30Speaker 5: was a really good win, a good knockout, and like
- 10:31Speaker 5: I said, a big upset.
- 10:33Speaker 2: So it was.
- 10:33Speaker 5: It was at the very least exciting to see this
- 10:36Speaker 5: new guy that wasn't a well known name step up
- 10:39Speaker 5: to the fight. But but yeah, I like I said,
- 10:44Speaker 5: I would be curious as to see what he's doing.
- 10:45Speaker 5: He has definitely been working out. I've seeing him hop
- 10:47Speaker 5: up here and there, you know, going hard in.
- 10:49Speaker 4: The gym and looking better.
- 10:50Speaker 5: But I don't know, I will, I'll say this, definitely,
- 10:54Speaker 5: the excitement for the monthly TNT events was like up.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Here and then it got a little bit lower. Was
- 10:59Speaker 4: a about Andrew Reus Sticks, a month about you?
- 11:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean obviously who Waltz on that card.
- 11:04Speaker 3: But I know, I really trying to speak to see
- 11:06Speaker 3: him fight, Like, be honest with you, I will watch,
- 11:08Speaker 3: but ain't like, ain't nobody really watch him for flight?
- 11:11Speaker 2: You know, it is what it is. There's no like
- 11:13Speaker 2: seriousness with his fights. Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 5: I was very excited about Roach versus Sepetta and I
- 11:18Speaker 5: was tuning in. Yeah, I was like really stoked to
- 11:20Speaker 5: see it, and I was locked in the whole fight.
- 11:23Speaker 5: And yeah, when they announced that, I'm like, I'll show
- 11:26Speaker 5: up next month, Well you know, we'll see a we'll
- 11:27Speaker 5: talk about et cetera. But it's not the same level
- 11:30Speaker 5: of excitement that I had. No by any means fighters,
- 11:32Speaker 5: But yeah, and I did. I took a quick glance
- 11:35Speaker 5: at the card and there weren't any names that are recognized,
- 11:38Speaker 5: Like right away, I didn't do any like you know,
- 11:41Speaker 5: sometimes you see the name and you're.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Like, do I know that guy?
- 11:43Speaker 5: And you see previous fights opponents, You're like, oh, right,
- 11:46Speaker 5: I saw him on this card. That card, I didn't
- 11:48Speaker 5: see any any names that were recognizable, So, uh, make
- 11:51Speaker 5: of that.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Way we all will at the end of the day.
- 11:55Speaker 5: You know, I'm always excited to watch boxing, watch fights,
- 11:57Speaker 5: no matter what so I'll, i'll, I'll tune in and
- 12:00Speaker 5: I'll be very happy to go out and find a
- 12:03Speaker 5: bar where I can.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Borrow a TV to put it on.
- 12:06Speaker 5: But yeah, there, let's let's hope October's fight is a
- 12:11Speaker 5: lot more exciting on the TNT channel.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Wow. Yeah, But no disrespect to Andy Ruiz, but you know.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Uh nah, no, no, no, no, no.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Look here, when you have the opportunity to be to
- 12:22Speaker 3: have a weight champ and you don't take it seriously enough,
- 12:25Speaker 3: then no, there's a me direspect because here's the thing.
- 12:27Speaker 3: His hands are nights Like. We've never talked about his
- 12:29Speaker 3: hands not being nice, That's never been an issue. But
- 12:32Speaker 3: you can't look like that and be a serious contender
- 12:35Speaker 3: for that weight champion fasting.
- 12:36Speaker 2: That sucks, Like it would have been nice to.
- 12:38Speaker 3: See him win the belt and then get in crazy
- 12:41Speaker 3: shape and defended because his hands are not his hands
- 12:45Speaker 3: beat is up to he's nice, like, he's not a
- 12:48Speaker 3: bad fighter. It's just like, when you're in that kind
- 12:50Speaker 3: of physical condition, you're not going to be a champion
- 12:52Speaker 3: that long.
- 12:53Speaker 2: It just don't work that way.
- 12:54Speaker 3: And I guess I remember, if I'm not mistaken, there's
- 12:56Speaker 3: some stuff that happened outside the ring. I think like
- 12:59Speaker 3: he enjoyed himself lot after winning that belt. I believe
- 13:02Speaker 3: as lot I'm hearing. So it happens. It's life, I
- 13:05Speaker 3: get it. But we knew he want to be champed
- 13:07Speaker 3: for that long. We knew who that was.
- 13:09Speaker 5: Yeah, and he admitted that, he said, he just you know,
- 13:11Speaker 5: got high in his own supply, did a lot of drinking,
- 13:13Speaker 5: a lot of partying, just didn't take boxing seriously after that.
- 13:16Speaker 4: And you know, I we've seen that happen.
- 13:18Speaker 5: So many times where I yeah, people, I understand celebrating,
- 13:22Speaker 5: you know, winning a big fight, having an upset, having
- 13:24Speaker 5: the belt, et cetera, et cetera. But you gotta defend
- 13:27Speaker 5: that shit. You gotta keep up the skills. Like nobody
- 13:31Speaker 5: is an amazing fighter. Well remember by history because of
- 13:33Speaker 5: one really good fight, no matter how great you did,
- 13:35Speaker 5: you know what I mean.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Stay in shape. That's the thing you have to stay
- 13:37Speaker 2: in great ship.
- 13:38Speaker 3: If you're a boxer, the biggest job you have is
- 13:41Speaker 3: staying fighting shape at all times.
- 13:43Speaker 2: That's the biggest thing.
- 13:44Speaker 3: We've seen so many guys either struggle to make weight
- 13:47Speaker 3: or even not make way recently because they're not staying
- 13:50Speaker 3: in shape outside of the ring and outside of fighting time,
- 13:53Speaker 3: and that's crazy to me.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Well, and didn't didn't announce you to say that, Like,
- 13:57Speaker 5: I think it's been that came in you know, half
- 13:59Speaker 5: a pound over wait on Saturday as well.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Which is fine, that that's not the end of the world.
- 14:06Speaker 3: But like guys coming in like two four six pounds
- 14:09Speaker 3: are like, nah, that's that's correct to me. That's wild.
- 14:12Speaker 3: But again, things happen, and everybody's training camp was different.
- 14:16Speaker 3: But in general, I think a lot of guys do
- 14:18Speaker 3: a poor job of staying in the best shape they
- 14:21Speaker 3: could possibly be in at all times.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Sure, yeah, and I'm not saying that, you know, wasn't.
- 14:26Speaker 5: I'm just saying that he looked great, he moved great,
- 14:28Speaker 5: He won that fight really well, and he looked and
- 14:30Speaker 5: he looked actually even like huge compared to Roach, and
- 14:33Speaker 5: he still couldn't.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Make that half pound. You know.
- 14:35Speaker 5: It's like for somebody that isn't taking themselves seriously, you
- 14:38Speaker 5: got no chance.
- 14:38Speaker 4: So exactly, but yeah, I don't know.
- 14:41Speaker 5: I think for for nostalgia's sake of the fun era,
- 14:44Speaker 5: when Andrewiz did win and it was like the big
- 14:46Speaker 5: upset and like everybody was like, what the hell happened?
- 14:48Speaker 4: Where does that come from? Et cetera.
- 14:50Speaker 5: You know, of course I'll check it out, but definitely
- 14:54Speaker 5: not top tier appointment boxing.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I think, no, no, no, no.
- 14:59Speaker 5: But another thing we got to talk about that came
- 15:02Speaker 5: up at the end of last week was Kishon Davis
- 15:04Speaker 5: versus Devin Haney, or rather the lack of the fight
- 15:08Speaker 5: between the two of them. Kishon Davis pulled out, said
- 15:11Speaker 5: he wanted to get paid five million as opposed to
- 15:14Speaker 5: two point three two point five that he was being offered.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Completely blew up the chances for the fight. You know,
- 15:20Speaker 5: the promoters moving on, and I was not very happy
- 15:25Speaker 5: about that at all. I was excited about the prospect
- 15:27Speaker 5: of the two and fighting. Thing about Kishon Davis is
- 15:30Speaker 5: we got to remember that in twenty twenty five in June,
- 15:32Speaker 5: I believe is when he didn't make weight against Della Santos,
- 15:35Speaker 5: and whether he had a career or not was in question.
- 15:38Speaker 5: For the rest of twenty twenty five.
- 15:40Speaker 4: He was persona on Gratta. He said he would needed
- 15:43Speaker 4: to take time to figure out what he wanted to do.
- 15:44Speaker 5: Whatever, that's fine, that's I don't have an opinion on
- 15:47Speaker 5: that either way.
- 15:48Speaker 4: All I'm saying, is that, bro, last year, you basically had.
- 15:51Speaker 5: No career, and now you're blowing up a really really
- 15:54Speaker 5: big fight because you're not getting the five MS you wanted.
- 15:57Speaker 5: I don't think he should be. He's not at a
- 16:00Speaker 5: position where we should be making that demand. I think
- 16:02Speaker 5: what about you?
- 16:03Speaker 1: Not at all.
- 16:03Speaker 2: I mean, I think it's crazy. But also here's the
- 16:05Speaker 2: thing too, You got to read your contract. So if
- 16:08Speaker 2: you sign a promotion contract with somebody.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Getting a third of your of your dealings, then that's
- 16:13Speaker 3: on you. Like every boxer assigned a has taken less
- 16:17Speaker 3: money at some point for a fight that they either
- 16:20Speaker 3: had to or didn't want to whatever, they just did
- 16:21Speaker 3: what they had to do. That's to know him. That's
- 16:23Speaker 3: the game. And you can go down every hell terms.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Crawford took less money last fight, and we saw what happened.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Floyd took less money oscar Use. There's so many examples
- 16:32Speaker 3: throughout the time. For Keshawn Davis to act like this
- 16:37Speaker 3: and to like keep prolonging this is very disappointing. I'm
- 16:43Speaker 3: very upset because here's the thing. We don't have to
- 16:47Speaker 3: care about him, but he's done nothing for us to
- 16:50Speaker 3: care about, Like we don't have to really, and then
- 16:53Speaker 3: he don't really matter at the end of the day,
- 16:54Speaker 3: Like he really doesn't like we can go on about
- 16:56Speaker 3: our day without watching him careing about him boxing. Really
- 17:00Speaker 3: don't like, we can we can keep moving, be honest
- 17:03Speaker 3: with you. That's kind of where I'm at with it.
- 17:06Speaker 3: That's where I'm at, And you be honest with you.
- 17:08Speaker 3: I'm there like, hey, you know what, this is cool,
- 17:11Speaker 3: but we can keep it moving.
- 17:13Speaker 2: This ain't it. This ain't it man?
- 17:15Speaker 3: So you passed up a fight because a million of
- 17:17Speaker 3: your of your three million dollar person is going to
- 17:21Speaker 3: your promoter because you signed a bad deal. Nah, that's
- 17:24Speaker 3: on you. Here's the thing. Take the take the bag,
- 17:27Speaker 3: win the fight. Then when you win the fight, you
- 17:30Speaker 3: command whateverever you need to command, and then go from there. No,
- 17:34Speaker 3: you don't, You're not that. You're not in that mindset.
- 17:36Speaker 3: So I know he's not serious. We're good, We're good.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Yeah, And I was definitely a lot more open to
- 17:41Speaker 5: the idea of Kishank coming back into the ring. You know,
- 17:43Speaker 5: at the end of the day, he's always been a
- 17:44Speaker 5: talented fighter, uh, and him not taking anything seriously last
- 17:48Speaker 5: year and.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Going through that ricking role like that was that sucked.
- 17:51Speaker 5: But I was like, hey, man, I want more stars,
- 17:53Speaker 5: I want more names, I want you know, more fights,
- 17:55Speaker 5: so please, by all means, come on back. But yeah,
- 17:58Speaker 5: he just I'm with you. I'm kind of ready to
- 18:00Speaker 5: move on because he hasn't really shown that he deserves
- 18:02Speaker 5: that big shot.
- 18:04Speaker 4: This was his chance.
- 18:05Speaker 5: If he beat Devin Haney, then people would be like
- 18:08Speaker 5: this is the guy he you know, he sucked up
- 18:10Speaker 5: last year, but he's back, baby, especially be dominated you know,
- 18:13Speaker 5: got a knockout whatever. But yeah, I definitely not a
- 18:17Speaker 5: fan of what just went down. One thing that personally
- 18:21Speaker 5: annoyed me. So after last year, Kishan returned to the
- 18:25Speaker 5: ring in January on the course Stevenson versus Tail Female card.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:29Speaker 5: I remember after the fight, I saw Chakour on Instagram posting,
- 18:33Speaker 5: you know, a congratuatory post, you know, celebrating, et cetera.
- 18:37Speaker 5: And I remember Keishan commented and he said, this is
- 18:39Speaker 5: our time, brother, it's our we're the guys. I'm like, no, no, no,
- 18:43Speaker 5: no no, you're not part of this party right now.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Yeah, don't jump in. It's like me.
- 18:48Speaker 5: Saying like oh yeah, you know, sports broadcasters like me
- 18:51Speaker 5: and you know some whoever the hell on ASPN like
- 18:53Speaker 5: we're an I'm sorry we're not on the same run.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but also too, it was disappointing because it's like, bro,
- 19:00Speaker 3: like you gotta read the room. While you're not reading
- 19:02Speaker 3: the room and people around you are giving bad information.
- 19:05Speaker 3: If they whoever around you told you no, then you
- 19:07Speaker 3: need to seriously look at their camp and read anyway things.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Because the three million was there. Take the fight.
- 19:13Speaker 3: If you win the fight, you're gonna get way more.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Even the matterally you fight somebody else, you're gonnat way more.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Whoever's getting advice from is getting bad advice. And though
- 19:21Speaker 3: these are how careers are ruined, these are how careers
- 19:23Speaker 3: are never the same. His next fight, people don't care about.
- 19:26Speaker 3: I'm gonna be honest with you. People will not be
- 19:29Speaker 3: tuned in. Like the Haini fight was gonna be a
- 19:31Speaker 3: very good measurement for both guys. It would be very good.
- 19:34Speaker 3: It was probably the perfect measuring stick for both guys
- 19:36Speaker 3: that are at the stage of the game.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Now.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I don't think people care about Kee Dan Davis. You
- 19:42Speaker 3: can only keep doing these things to the public for
- 19:45Speaker 3: so long. Into the public like, NA, we're not interested.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:49Speaker 5: And also, let's not forget that his last fight against
- 19:51Speaker 5: They're oh right, you know that's the one where you
- 19:53Speaker 5: literally picked.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Up embodies signed him onto the ground.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, it was unnecessary. It wasn't necessary.
- 19:58Speaker 5: It's really unsports been like, and you know a lot
- 20:01Speaker 5: of people, you know, on Instagram comments were saying like, yeah,
- 20:05Speaker 5: take that ship. Oh I deserve that, that's what he gets,
- 20:07Speaker 5: blah blah blah, that's bullshit. Fuck that, Like that's again unsportsmanlike,
- 20:10Speaker 5: it's not what the sport is, not what boxing should be.
- 20:13Speaker 4: People could get genuinely hurt just being in the ring period.
- 20:17Speaker 4: But on top of that, you do this shit like
- 20:19Speaker 4: I'm sorry, you know.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I I I'll put it to you this way,
- 20:24Speaker 5: like I I really really wanted to be the biggest
- 20:28Speaker 5: key Shon fan in the world. I wanted him to
- 20:30Speaker 5: be my guy, and he just really just has been
- 20:33Speaker 5: making it hard for me for you know, the last year, and.
- 20:37Speaker 2: This is just one more thing.
- 20:38Speaker 4: That's one more thing. Yeah. So yeah, I don't know.
- 20:42Speaker 5: I mean, who the hell is he is he gonna
- 20:43Speaker 5: fight next? Like, you know, nobody that's gonna bring him
- 20:47Speaker 5: that much hype.
- 20:47Speaker 4: I don't think.
- 20:50Speaker 2: There's no matchup, like he just passed up. That's issue.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Yeah, so yeah, very very disappointed. We'll just see you know.
- 20:58Speaker 5: I And another thing too is I was excited to
- 21:00Speaker 5: see Devin Haney back in the ring after his last
- 21:02Speaker 5: fight when he kicked ass and I was like these, yeah,
- 21:06Speaker 5: hey me two point oh, let's let's fucking go.
- 21:09Speaker 4: I want him in the ring.
- 21:10Speaker 5: I want to see if he keeps it, keep brings
- 21:12Speaker 5: that same energy as people say, so that I'm disappointed
- 21:16Speaker 5: for two reasons now, and yeah, what a loss of
- 21:20Speaker 5: a potential good fight. And that's the worst of it.
- 21:21Speaker 5: It's just like when the sport already needs more events,
- 21:25Speaker 5: more fights, more stars, more basically more eye catching events.
- 21:29Speaker 4: That's probably the worst thing you could have done so
- 21:30Speaker 4: for right, right.
- 21:33Speaker 5: But yeah, I think we wanted to keep this one short.
- 21:36Speaker 5: I could always keep going for the ten to fifteen minutes,
- 21:38Speaker 5: but let's wrap it up. Let's, you know, keep an
- 21:40Speaker 5: eye on what goes on in the next fight, and
