- 0:02Hey, welcome to the City Point Church podcast.
- 0:04Thanks for joining us. Every day is an opportunity to
- 0:07take hold of. So we hope this message inspires
- 0:10you and build your faith, but it helps you have more of a God
- 0:13perspective for your day. Enjoy today.
- 0:17I want to talk to you about purpose.
- 0:21We all know that word in the Christian world, but I want to
- 0:25talk to you about a focused purpose.
- 0:29Not just purpose for purpose sake, but focused purpose.
- 0:36There's a man in the Bible. He goes by the Apostle Paul,
- 0:40previously known as Saul, and he had focused purpose.
- 0:45He had purpose before he met Christ too, and his purpose was
- 0:49to persecute the Christians. I like to start off with the
- 0:54Word. First, let's turn to our Bibles,
- 0:57to Acts 26, verses 9. Follow me there.
- 1:02Paul says this. I too was convinced that I ought
- 1:07to do all that was possible to oppose the name of Jesus of
- 1:14Nazareth. We sang that name Jesus.
- 1:17There's something about the name of Jesus because it's above
- 1:21every other name. There's no other name like it.
- 1:25The power in the name of Jesus. And when you speak the name of
- 1:30Jesus, there's miracles, demons go, there's healing, there's
- 1:35power in the name of Jesus. And verse 10, follow me there.
- 1:40And that is just what I did in Jerusalem on the authority of
- 1:45the chief priests. I put many of the Saints in the
- 1:48prison, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against
- 1:53them. Many a time I went from one
- 1:56synagogue to another, one church to another, to have them
- 2:00punished, and I tried to force them to blasphemy in my
- 2:05obsession against them. I even went to foreign cities to
- 2:10persecute them. The Apostle Paul has got this
- 2:17obsession on persecuting Christians.
- 2:22He was a Pharisee, he was a Jew, a man that didn't believe that
- 2:27the risen Christ and to Christ said he was.
- 2:32So he thought I'm going to go fix him.
- 2:33And he went on the authority of the chief priests.
- 2:40Can I get some water, please? Oh, it's right there.
- 2:43Sorry, I didn't see that. I have the authority to drink
- 2:47water now. Thank you, Lord.
- 2:53And he went and he thought this is my job.
- 2:57Except for one event happened, one touch, one revelation, 1
- 3:02moment in time, where he was travelling along to the road to
- 3:07Damascus and there was the risen Jesus right before Paul.
- 3:14And it says the sun shone, that Jesus had shone brighter than
- 3:20the sun and him in his companions.
- 3:23They fell down and Paul was blinded for three days and after
- 3:28that something like scales had fallen off his eyes.
- 3:31He had a revelation of the risen King, the one that was supposed
- 3:36to be in the tomb, but the stone rolled away and he rose again in
- 3:41three days. This is the power of the gospel.
- 3:441 moment Saul became Paul, and after that he had a revelation,
- 3:51one touch. And that revelation led to Paul
- 3:55going around preaching the good news of the risen King.
- 3:59Now Jesus, he rose when he died. He rose again in three days.
- 4:04He rose in victory. He rose as a conqueror.
- 4:07For you and I sin. And let me tell you, I'm going
- 4:10to give you an opportunity at the end.
- 4:12If you don't know Jesus today, there's going to be a moment.
- 4:16And just like Saul, you'll become Paul and you'll be
- 4:20transformed in a moment. Just like that, you'll go from
- 4:23death to life and that that opportunity will be given to you
- 4:27at the end of the service. Paul was a troublemaker.
- 4:35He loved to cause holy trouble. As pastor I said, And you know
- 4:39what, we as Christians, when we go into our community, we cause
- 4:42holy trouble. We come against what the Word,
- 4:46what the world comes in and teaches, but Christ teaches
- 4:50something else, and that's us as a church.
- 4:53We stand up into this community and we go and influence it.
- 4:57And that's what Paul did. And he was put on house arrest
- 5:00in Rome because he tried to stand up against Caesar.
- 5:04And he was there for two years, around 60 to 62 AD and Paul went
- 5:09through some suffering. And I want to want to highlight
- 5:13to you today and what Paul did in that moment, in those two
- 5:18years in prison whilst he was on house arrest.
- 5:21He writes and encourages four other churches or three other
- 5:25churches. He writes the Ephesians, the
- 5:28Ephesus church, the Philippians, the Colossians, and Philemon.
- 5:34Or if you're real bougie, Philemon, whatever you want to
- 5:38go with, that's fine. He was under house arrest.
- 5:43And scholars say that it was possible that he was, he was
- 5:48definitely in chain, but it was quite possible that he was
- 5:51chained to a Roman soldier for 24 hours of the day with six
- 5:56hours shift, a new Roman soldier coming in to take the shift.
- 6:03And Paul suffered for Jesus. He suffered for the gospel.
- 6:09It doesn't sound too good suffering, does it?
- 6:12But here's the truth about suffering.
- 6:15No matter whether you're with Christ or not, you're going to
- 6:18suffer. But there's a big difference.
- 6:22You can suffer over here without Christ in the world, but you'll
- 6:27do it alone. Or you can come give your life
- 6:32to Jesus and they're still suffering.
- 6:35But you won't do it alone this time.
- 6:38You'll do it filled with the Holy Spirit, the Helper.
- 6:41You do it with God's strength. You do it with his joy.
- 6:44You won't do it alone. Beloved, Christ didn't promise
- 6:49us that we wouldn't suffer, but He did promise us that He will
- 6:53be with us to the very end of the age.
- 6:56That's a promise. And Two Corinthians Chapter 11,
- 7:02chapter, Chapter 11, verses 24 just illustrates the sum of
- 7:07Paul's sufferings. But see, long-suffering is part
- 7:12of the fruit of the Spirit. I wish it was called short
- 7:15suffering. I would even settle for a little
- 7:19bit more suffering or middle suffering.
- 7:23But long-suffering is one of the fruit of the Spirit.
- 7:27Why? Because it helps us how we
- 7:30respond in suffering is everything right and who we turn
- 7:35to And suffering is everything. In Two Corinthians chapter 1124,
- 7:40five times he says I received from the Jews the 40 lashes -1 I
- 7:46reckon Paul would have felt the -1 that he didn't receive. 3
- 7:50times I was beaten with rods. Once I was pelted with stones.
- 7:55Three times I was shipwrecked. I spent a night and a day in the
- 7:59open sea. I have been constantly on the
- 8:03move. I've been in danger from rivers,
- 8:06in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in
- 8:12danger from Gentiles, in danger in the city, in danger in the
- 8:17country, in danger at sea, and in danger from false believers.
- 8:23I have laboured and toiled and often gone without sleep.
- 8:28I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without
- 8:33food. I have been cold and naked.
- 8:37That's just the glimpse of some of the things that the Apostle
- 8:41Paul went through. Just a little snippet.
- 8:45He endured hardship and suffering.
- 8:50And I started to wonder in the text as I was reading this, as I
- 8:55preached to myself too, way before I come here to get that
- 8:58in my heart, to get it written on the tablet of my heart.
- 9:01And I thought, what was Paul's perspective in this?
- 9:04I thought, maybe this man's going to shrink back.
- 9:08You could think that maybe he's going to pull back in fear, but
- 9:14he didn't. And after Paul writes on how
- 9:18much he had suffered for Jesus, watch what happens here.
- 9:22His concern wasn't for himself. Watch the text right after this
- 9:27verse after he explained what he went through.
- 9:30It says this besides everything else.
- 9:35Come on. I felt the anointing on that and
- 9:39God speaking to me and say, TJ, do you have a besides everything
- 9:43else, everything that it could ever happen to you and and
- 9:46suffering and pain and and and the way that life goes?
- 9:51TJ would you have a besides everything else, let me tell you
- 9:55when you've got the living God in your life, when you've got
- 9:58the Holy Spirit that's filled you, you've got everything, man.
- 10:02It's besides everything beside the car, besides the, the the
- 10:06the bills, besides the the frustrations, besides your
- 10:11workplace of what's going on. God, I've got you, God, I've got
- 10:16you and it continues. He said ready.
- 10:20Watch this. I face daily the pressure of my
- 10:25concern for all the churches. What a man, what a spirit filled
- 10:33man. This is the Apostle Paul filled
- 10:36with the Holy Spirit. His concern wasn't about
- 10:39himself. His concern was about the
- 10:42churches. His concern was to encourage the
- 10:46churches and say come on church, you've got people to bring in,
- 10:51you've got people to impact and that's you today, beloved you
- 10:55being filled with the Holy Spirit man in your workplace in
- 10:59this community when you go shopping should looks different.
- 11:03Your concern for this community not in fear, but to say man,
- 11:09there's people out there that no need to know Jesus and I'm
- 11:12filled with the Holy Spirit. You are the answer the church to
- 11:16this community that brings Jesus Christ to make an impact and you
- 11:22all have the power to do that. Verses 29, he says who is weak
- 11:29and I do not feel weak. Well, after going through all of
- 11:35that, he says I don't feel weak. There's a scripture, it says in
- 11:40in our weakness. That's when God's made
- 11:42strongest, come on, His grace is sufficient.
- 11:47Who was led into sin and I do not inwardly burn.
- 11:53Paul viewed everything through a transformed life in Christ Jesus
- 11:59and in the power meant by the Holy Spirit.
- 12:02His suffering didn't break him. It clarified his purpose to
- 12:08advance the church, the body of Christ.
- 12:11And I know there's some people in here, you've got a dream.
- 12:15I know that some people in here, you, you, you just want to bust
- 12:18out of your seat and run into the community and, and making a
- 12:22an impact. And our prayer should be this
- 12:25God, would you make me an effective minister of the
- 12:29gospel, an effective minister of the gospel for Jesus Christ and
- 12:33for this community? Would you make me an effective
- 12:36father in my in my home? Would you make me an effective
- 12:40mother in my home, in my family and everywhere I go will
- 12:45encounter the love of God. Paul had the Holy Spirit
- 12:54inspired truth that saw past his physical chains and I just want
- 13:01to highlight in piece of Scripture in Ephesians where
- 13:06he's writing and he's encouraging them.
- 13:09If we could turn our Bibles to Ephesians 6 and watch what Paul
- 13:14does. But I started wondering.
- 13:19Paul on house arrest, looking around his surroundings in the
- 13:25rock walls that he was surrounded by, faced with the
- 13:30Roman soldier. Possible with the change of the
- 13:34guard every six hours. I know what my letter would have
- 13:38been like. Dear brothers and sisters, bust
- 13:44me out of here now. There's filthy Roman.
- 13:48Shiny leather looking smelly. Filthy Roman is guarding me.
- 13:53I need help. Would you bust me out quickly?
- 13:56I'll be writing a letter. Help.
- 13:57I'll be complaining. These rock walls are cold.
- 14:00I'm cold. There's no blanket.
- 14:02There's not much food, not much joy.
- 14:05But watch what Paul writes, he says.
- 14:07Therefore, put on the full armor of God so that when the day of
- 14:13evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.
- 14:18I'm wondering when Paul was writing, did he have a
- 14:20revelation of when the Roman God was standing in that cell with
- 14:25him? And he says, hold on, hold on
- 14:29those shoes. There aren't just normal shoes
- 14:33and an inspired truth coming from the Holy Spirit.
- 14:39And he's had a revelation, he says.
- 14:41And after you've done everything to stand, stand firm then with
- 14:46the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate
- 14:51of righteousness in place, and with the feet fitted with the
- 14:55readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
- 15:00In addition to all this, it says in verse 16, take up the shield
- 15:04of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming
- 15:08arrows of the evil 1 and take the helmet of salvation and the
- 15:14sword of the spirit of which is the word of God.
- 15:25Paul had an amazing perspective. He had an amazing revelation, a
- 15:33Holy Spirit inspired truth, and despite being physically chained
- 15:38to a Roman soldier, his letters were not filled with sorrow and
- 15:42grief. And it's amazing how Paul
- 15:46encourages 3 churches in this time that he was in prison.
- 15:53And he's telling the church, you know what?
- 15:55I know you've faced some some kickback.
- 15:59I know that you've faced some challenges, but he's telling the
- 16:03Ephesus church, we just stand your ground because you're not
- 16:07cold and naked. You've got something that God's
- 16:11helping you to give you a focused purpose.
- 16:14You've been equipped with the belt of truth.
- 16:17You've been equipped with the breastplate of righteousness,
- 16:20with the shoes of the gospel of peace, with the shield of faith,
- 16:25with the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit.
- 16:28I'm wondering is there people in here today that don't like this
- 16:32surroundings and maybe you feel like the walls encapsulated in
- 16:36but maybe just very maybe that's not the devil who put you there.
- 16:41Maybe that's God who put you in there to stand firm then to be
- 16:45known it when you walk into a place that you're equipped with
- 16:49the armor of God and people can say, hey, Christian, what do you
- 16:53have that I need? And guess what, beloved, that's
- 16:56the power of God on your life that you were equipped.
- 16:59You're equipped in every circumstance, no matter or even
- 17:03if you're in the lowest of the low valley or the highest of the
- 17:07high mountain, you are equipped and you're not equipped with
- 17:11nothing. God equips you.
- 17:13I remember past the Gray when I before I went to Bible college,
- 17:17he said this something to me that carried me on.
- 17:20He said, TJ, if God's called you, he's also equipped you.
- 17:25Let me tell you, beloved, give God a shout.
- 17:28If you're called by God, let me tell you, you're equipped by God
- 17:32today. You're not cold and naked.
- 17:34God has equipped you, beloved. He's not only equipped you to
- 17:37sit on this chair in this church, but he's equipped you to
- 17:41go out there and get some people who don't know Jesus.
- 17:45Come on, give God a clap offering.
- 17:47Give God some praise. Moving on from verse 17, we go
- 18:03to verses 18. Watch this.
- 18:06Don't you just love the word of God?
- 18:10And Paul says this. He says and pray in the Spirit
- 18:14on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
- 18:22With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all
- 18:27the Lord's people, human mind, even in His prayer, even in Him
- 18:34writing this. Can you see how He's not
- 18:36writing? Woe is me, I have been wronged,
- 18:41I have had this and I am innocent.
- 18:44I've been put in jail for two years.
- 18:47Woe is me. But he says He gives us a key
- 18:51here. He says pray in the Spirit on
- 18:54all occasions. Let me tell you, there's a gift
- 18:58that God has given and that's the gift of the Holy Spirit.
- 19:02And today, if you can't speak in a heavenly language, that today
- 19:06can be your chance, your opportunity to get filled with
- 19:09the Holy Spirit. If you haven't been filled, let
- 19:12me tell you, you're missing out, man.
- 19:14When you start speaking the language of heaven, you realize
- 19:18when you're praying in that language, you're seated in
- 19:21heavenly places with Christ. That means you're no longer
- 19:24coming from the ground and looking up to God and asking him
- 19:28for help. You're coming from a heavenly
- 19:30perspective, a heavenly place that says to those situations,
- 19:35get beneath me, Satan. They'll tell those things get
- 19:38beneath me. You are beneath me because I am
- 19:42with the living Christ seated in heavenly places.
- 19:46And let me tell your church, beloved, we as a church are
- 19:50seated in heavenly places and this community along with it is
- 19:56seated in heavenly places. When you go into your workplace,
- 20:01when you go into your spaces, when you drop off your kids to
- 20:04church. You will go.
- 20:06You don't go seated on a low place.
- 20:09You go seated in a heavenly place, which means you can bring
- 20:12a heavenly word to that place. You can bring a heavenly word to
- 20:17your neighbor. Come on.
- 20:18Am I talking to somebody today? Is somebody got a heavenly word
- 20:22in them, a prophetic word to speak into their community and
- 20:26into the places that they influence?
- 20:32Paul's life was fueled by prayer, the kind of prayer that
- 20:36had purpose, focused purpose. Not just help me God, help me
- 20:44God, help me God. And I know I've prayed those
- 20:47prayers, but I'm talking about focused purpose prayers.
- 20:54Paul prayer requests revealed his character.
- 20:58Who knows? When you go through some things,
- 21:00it starts to reveal some things. It reveals your character.
- 21:07I know that God has shown me my fruit many times in the, in, in
- 21:11the hard times, in the challenging times.
- 21:15And I got to see the, the fruit that on my life.
- 21:19And it helps me see myself because sometimes the hardest
- 21:23person to see is yourself. It's why marriage is so good, so
- 21:29coming to church is so good as your brothers and sisters will
- 21:32edify you and lift you up. You ever been to Pastor Henry's
- 21:36life group? So challenging but so beautiful.
- 21:40He helped draw her out. God used him to disciple many
- 21:45and still today, if you're looking for a life group and you
- 21:49haven't been through foundations, let me tell you,
- 21:52get into foundations. It goes for 10 weeks.
- 21:54Is that right? Pastor Henry, let me tell you
- 21:57foundations, if you're a new Christian, it is a must.
- 22:00If you've been saved here in the last year and you haven't found
- 22:03yourself a place, go to foundations.
- 22:06It is incredible. It'll give you a head start and
- 22:09it will help you understand the word of God.
- 22:13Paul wasn't asking for comfort in his prayer.
- 22:17You notice that he didn't even ask for rescue.
- 22:22He wasn't saying pray for me for rescue.
- 22:25He wasn't asking for the suffering to stop or even the
- 22:29fire or fall on his enemies, but rather he goes on to say in
- 22:35verses 19, ready, what's this? Pray also for me.
- 22:44What for? That?
- 22:45Whenever I speak, words may be given so that I will fearlessly
- 22:52make known the mystery of the gospel for which I am an
- 22:58ambassador. That's an identity key.
- 23:01You're an ambassador today, Church, a representative of
- 23:04Christ Jesus in chains. And he says this.
- 23:09Pray that I may declare it fearlessly as I should.
- 23:14He wasn't saying pray, woe is me, I need help.
- 23:18I need rescue God. I don't know how I'm going to
- 23:20make it out. I don't even know if we're going
- 23:22to make it past these two years. I don't know how I got in here.
- 23:26I just innocently, innocently went to Caesar.
- 23:29I was telling him about Jesus and I got thrown into this
- 23:32place. I'm innocent.
- 23:34No, he's saying, pray also for me.
- 23:38Pray that I may declare God's word fearlessly.
- 23:41Pray that I declare the gospel fearlessly.
- 23:44That's why we can't hide behind this title called I'm an
- 23:48introvert anymore. We have no excuse because we've
- 23:52been filled with the Holy Spirit.
- 23:54I know I'm an extrovert and I want to go talk to everyone as
- 23:58well, but it challenges me too because I know that I can't do
- 24:02it on my own. When I walk into a place, I say,
- 24:05Holy Spirit, would you use me? Oh, Holy Spirit, I know that
- 24:09it's not on my power, but yours. Come on.
- 24:12Have I got any people in this place today that would go into
- 24:15their war workplace? Not on your own power, but the
- 24:18power of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is not a friend that
- 24:27you call up when you need help. I've been there.
- 24:31How many times walk into movies, walk into places, that Holy
- 24:36Spirit, here I am again. I haven't spoken in three weeks,
- 24:39but I really need you now. Yes, I know, and I hate you
- 24:43being good, good, good, but the Holy Spirit wants relationship
- 24:50with you to bring you into closer communion, closer
- 24:54intimacy in relationship with Jesus.
- 24:57That's the Holy Spirit. He helps you come into a greater
- 25:00relationship with God and then by that intimacy, by that
- 25:04relationship, you get to step out into this community.
- 25:09You get to influence your world for good and for God to see this
- 25:12community be transformed for Jesus.
- 25:15Come on, I'm looking. I'm not just preaching to you.
- 25:17I'm preaching to the people that should be here.
- 25:20I've been seeing a lady in prayer for years that I've been
- 25:23praying for and I'm waiting to me to hear.
- 25:26And I'm wondering, have we got some prayers in this place
- 25:29today, people that they've seen that aren't here yet?
- 25:32Keep on praying. Keep on praying for Morton City
- 25:35because God will use you to impact our world, to influence
- 25:41our world, to transform this community for Christ.
- 25:45Your purpose is not just coming on Sunday and having
- 25:49relationship with him on church. Your purpose as a living child
- 25:53of God, a representative of God, is to influence, to bring God
- 25:58glory to every sphere of influence and places and spaces
- 26:03that you find yourself in. Paul wanted prayer to declare,
- 26:09to declare the good news, the gospel news boldly to those
- 26:15around him. Paul's focused purpose and
- 26:21prayer was not God. Get Me Out of this.
- 26:25You're ready. Paul's purpose, focus was this,
- 26:31God use me in this. I'll say that again.
- 26:38Paul didn't come to God and was like, God, Get Me Out of this.
- 26:44Get Me Out of this situation, this mess that I'm tied up in.
- 26:49Paul's prayer and focus purpose was God, would you use me in
- 26:54this? And I'm wondering, beloved, do I
- 26:57have some people here today bold enough with the Spirit filled in
- 27:02them that says God, would you use me in this?
- 27:05And what you thought you were chained to And to say that God
- 27:09would you Get Me Out of this doesn't do the justice and the
- 27:12love of God that we have for this community.
- 27:15No, no, no, we are not to shrink back in fear, but we are those
- 27:19people at City Point Caboolture that says this.
- 27:23We are prayers. God use me in this.
- 27:26Maybe your finances don't stack up the way you thought it would
- 27:29stack up, but do we have some people would say God use me in
- 27:34this? Do we have some struggles that
- 27:36are coming your way, maybe things that you didn't
- 27:39anticipate for 2025, but God use me in this.
- 27:43Maybe you got a workplace that you're not happy with at the
- 27:47moment, but in that workplace, you know, you're the only
- 27:50Christian. God use me in this.
- 27:54And then we have a group of people, a cohort of
- 27:57collaboration. We have a mission, a vision for
- 28:01this community. Do we have a people here today?
- 28:05And if you do, give God a shout to say God, use me in this
- 28:09community. He asked for prayer centered in
- 28:18focus. Purpose, not problems.
- 28:24His prayer wasn't based and focused on problems.
- 28:28He was focused on purpose. I know I'm going through this,
- 28:35but God, what's your focus purpose right now in this
- 28:38situation? What's your Rhema word?
- 28:41What's your now word? What do you have me in right now
- 28:46that I can impact people? I'm not just a Sunday Christian.
- 28:51I don't just commune with God on a Sunday at church.
- 28:53God, what am I doing here and how can I be more effective for
- 29:00your Kingdom? Paul's entire purpose in Christ
- 29:07was to represent Christ as the band comes up to be an
- 29:13ambassador of the gospel, a representative, to speak
- 29:18fearlessly, to declare the good news of Jesus, anyone within
- 29:24reach, even the Roman soldier that was potentially chained to
- 29:29him. Could you imagine Paul chained?
- 29:33He's talking to know Jesus. Do you know Jesus?
- 29:41Could you imagine a Man on Fire and joy with the power of the
- 29:45Holy Ghost chained in that room and a Roman soldier coming into
- 29:50that room? Imagine what he would have been
- 29:52thinking. I'm chained to this man and he's
- 29:54preaching to me. Hope.
- 29:56He's encouraging me. He's writing letters to
- 29:58churches. Who is this man?
- 30:00This is different to what the world acts.
- 30:03How is he doing this preaching the good news?
- 30:07Jesus is risen for your life, beloved.
- 30:11Jesus has taken away the sin of the world for all that take upon
- 30:15and have faith in Christ and all that give their life over to
- 30:19Jesus and that's available to you now.
- 30:21Could you imagine the Roman soldier thinking, what is this
- 30:27guy on? What does he have?
- 30:33Christianity is attractive. Your testimony, Paul's testimony
- 30:38of Christ. Wherever Paul went, he bring the
- 30:44gospel. The good news.
- 30:48Paul didn't waste his suffering. Are you ready?
- 30:53He assigned it focused purpose. Did anyone catch that here
- 31:01today? Paul didn't waste his suffering,
- 31:06he assigned it focused purpose. And I know that sometimes even
- 31:13in life, we, we encounter this. I know that, that, that that
- 31:17usually suffering isn't preached about.
- 31:19But let me tell you, beloved, when you are going through the
- 31:23valley, are you going to assign it purpose today?
- 31:27Is that your purpose to assign it focused purpose?
- 31:31And let me promise you today, we are a church that when, when
- 31:35persecution rises, we're going to assign it focused purpose
- 31:39because we have the gospel. Good news, the Holy Spirit was
- 31:43within us. That means you've been sealed
- 31:46with purpose, you have greatness within you, power within you,
- 31:50that you alone can step out in faith and God will use you today
- 31:57just like He's used me. I know I have a testimony too,
- 32:01just like Paul. And I'm up here because I said
- 32:08yes to Jesus and I knew the power, and I'm so grateful for
- 32:14my salvation because I was a dead man before.
- 32:20And now I've encountered Christ and I'm alive in him.
- 32:25And am I still being transformed?
- 32:27Yes. Am I still being sanctified?
- 32:30Yes. But that's the beauty of the
- 32:32journey. And today, beloved, that's for
- 32:35you and I today that we don't do this alone.
- 32:39We do it as a community as well. A common unity, something that
- 32:43we have common in is we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 32:49So I'm saying this today as we land this plane, don't waste
- 32:56your suffering. Don't waste what it looks like
- 32:59you're chained to because the very thing that you're in is the
- 33:07very focused purpose that God has placed you in to see people
- 33:17being impacted in your world. Maybe it's that Christmas dinner
- 33:24for us. We don't want to see those
- 33:26people. Maybe don't want to go to
- 33:28Christmas this year because Uncle Mike is going to start his
- 33:31stuff again. But let me promise you, you
- 33:34don't go into those places like that with that thinking.
- 33:38You go into those places, in the spaces and you step out and you
- 33:42say God, I'm going in here with you because it's a relationship.
- 33:52It's not performance. It's not even coming to church
- 33:57on Sunday. That's not your relationship
- 33:59with God. That's that's your overflow.
- 34:02It's where you come to God and you, you get to come in the
- 34:06house and enjoy his presence and enjoy the community of God
- 34:12through your relationship. But not only that, you know
- 34:17where else I come to church because I know that when I
- 34:21walked through those doors seven years ago, God had used another
- 34:26servant to welcome me and my family in the House of God.
- 34:32And it changed our life in an instant when we give our life to
- 34:35Christ. You have a purpose.
- 34:38Sunday has a purpose. Don't you miss church?
- 34:42Because when people get to come through that door, you will be
- 34:47used by God and God will use you if you position yourself in such
- 34:53a way. So I say this, please don't go
- 34:58out to the cafe and just speak to the same people every Sunday.
- 35:03Would we as a church look around and say who is new here today?
- 35:08Who is here going to be transformed by the living God,
- 35:11by my yes and my obedience? Who today can I speak to?
- 35:16Can I encourage, even know you? Maybe you've walked through
- 35:19those doors feeling discouraged. Maybe you've walked through
- 35:23these doors not feeling right. But would you say God, I'm not
- 35:27gonna let my feelings get in the way of somebody else's
- 35:30salvation. I'm not gonna let my life, my
- 35:34feelings get in the way of somebody else receiving a now
- 35:39word of God. And let me tell you, when we
- 35:42start doing this kind of thing, man, we start seeing the
- 35:47flourishing life of the church, man, who can I grab today?
- 35:51Who can I have coffee with next week?
- 35:53Who can I call? There's always a new person that
- 35:57you can bless. Your chains become your mission
- 36:02field, not your misery. The things that we've been
- 36:07praying and asking God, please Get Me Out of here.
- 36:10Maybe that's the very thing that God has got you into.
- 36:14Let's not give the enemy the glory things that God has done
- 36:17in your life and put you in in situations.
- 36:22Pray with purpose, not just comfort.
- 36:27Ask yourself, am I praying for comfort right now?
- 36:29Am I praying with a focused purpose?
- 36:33Let's suffering clarify your purpose, not weaken it.
- 36:37Represent Christ well in every circumstances.
- 36:41And to finish with this church, you are an ambassador for
- 36:49Christ. You are a representative of
- 36:53Christ. Come on, say it after me.
- 36:55We're going to say it three times because I want to declare
- 36:58it over this town. I want to declare it over Morton
- 37:01City. I wanted you to declare it in
- 37:04your workplace, in your family home.
- 37:06Come on, say it after me. I am an ambassador for Christ.
- 37:12Come on two more times. I am an ambassador for Christ.
- 37:19Come on. I am an ambassador for Christ,
- 37:25come on. Do you know I spoke about Jesus
- 37:41and how he rose again? But do you know why he went to
- 37:44the cross? The whole reason why he came to
- 37:50earth, the living God in flesh, Because he had a focus purpose.
- 38:00That focus purpose was to go blameless and innocently and get
- 38:07on that cross and die a brutal death only to be risen again.
- 38:17And that focus purpose was for you and I beloved, that focus
- 38:23purpose was to defeat sin at the cross, because sin is
- 38:30destructive in all its ways. Scripture says there is a way
- 38:35that seems right unto a man, but in in the end it leads to death.
- 38:39That's in Proverbs. And maybe you're thinking you're
- 38:44living the right way and I'm going the right way, but in the
- 38:48end it leads to death without Christ.
