  Hello friends, it's Sean. Here it is Friday, It is the

  29th of December. Then it's the weekend, and the

  next time you tune in and you and I read a Bible passage

  together, it's going to be the next year.

  And so at the end of this year, we sign off and we say goodbye
• 0:32
  to 2023. And all of the adventures and
• 0:36
  memories and great moments of love and laughter and challenge
• 0:42
  and tears that we've all probably experienced in the last
• 0:45
  year. And what better way to wrap them
• 0:48
  all up and by sharing a Psalm together.
• 0:51
  And this is very fittingly, a Psalm of praise, In fact, a
• 0:55
  Psalm of praise about how God is king, which just fits perfectly
• 1:00
  to us beginning to read the book of Samuel about God declaring
• 1:05
  his kingship. And so as we come here, oh
• 1:08
  friend, I just want to thank you for yet another year of you
• 1:12
  joining me each day or as many days as you've been able to
• 1:17
  reading through God's word it. It is something that I don't
• 1:20
  just do this for my own edification, but I do it so that
• 1:24
  you and I can be edified and can be drawn closer to our
• 1:29
  incredible, loving God. And the fact that you choose to
• 1:33
  do this day in and day out is really quite incredibly humbling
• 1:38
  to me. And so I thank you.
• 1:40
  I thank you for your company. I thank you for your conviction
• 1:44
  that spending time in God's Word is worth it.
• 1:48
  And I thank you for trusting me with the role of your Bible
• 1:52
  reader. You could very easily choose
• 1:55
  anyone to do that. Or you could read it yourself.
• 1:57
  Or you could press play on your Bible reading app and have some
• 2:01
  fancy actor read it to you. But no, you choose to come here.
• 2:05
  And for that I am baffled and delighted.
• 2:09
  So thank you. Thank you for another year
• 2:12
  together, reading God's Word, and let us do that today as we
• 2:16
  wrap up this week, this month and this year with the Psalm.

  Psalm 97. The Lord is king.
• 2:36
  Let the earth rejoice. Let the farthest coastlands be
• 2:39
  glad. Dark clouds surround him.
• 2:44
  Righteousness and justice are the foundations of his throne.
• 2:48
  Fire spreads ahead of him and burns up all his foes.
• 2:54
  His lightning flashes out across the world.
• 2:57
  The earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax
• 3:03
  before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth.
• 3:09
  The heavens proclaim his righteousness.
• 3:12
  Every nation sees his glory. Those who worship idols are
• 3:16
  disgraced. All who brag about their
• 3:20
  worthless gods, for every God must bow to him.
• 3:25
  Jerusalem has heard and rejoiced, and all the towns of
• 3:29
  Judah are glad because of your justice, O Lord, for you, O
• 3:35
  Lord, are supreme over all the earth.
• 3:39
  You are exalted far above all gods.
• 3:44
  You who love the Lord hate evil. He protects the lives of his
• 3:49
  godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked.
• 3:53
  Light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are
• 3:58
  right. May all who are godly rejoice in
• 4:03
  the Lord and praise His holy name.
• 4:17
  And Lord, what is even left to say after the Psalm, except that
• 4:22
  we rejoice in you, and we praise Your holy Name.
• 4:28
  For as the psalmist says before you, the mountains melt like
• 4:32
  wax. The whole earth sees you and
• 4:35
  trembles. Lightning flashes across the
• 4:38
  world. You are so much bigger and more
• 4:42
  powerful than anything in this world has any right to be.
• 4:47
  Because you are not of this world.
• 4:48
  You created it and you are sovereign over it.
• 4:54
  And so as very little citizens of this very big world, which is
• 4:58
  still very small in your overall universal Kingdom, we come
• 5:03
  before you and we praise you, and we choose to recognize you
• 5:10
  as our sovereign king and our Lord.
• 5:13
  Thank you for the year that you have gifted us, for the many
• 5:17
  moments of celebration and happiness that we have shared
• 5:22
  with those that you have given us for the hard times and we've
• 5:26
  cried out to you. Thank you for being a part of
• 5:30
  our journey through this whole year.
• 5:34
  You are a faithful God and we just revel in your love and your
• 5:40
  attention and your presence. Thank you, Father.
• 5:48
  We pray all of this in the name of Jesus.
