- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take, where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes it.
- 0:11All starts. Right now.
- 0:17Welcome back to the three O take presented by Sea Kick.
- 0:19This episode 472. I'll be your host Kyle Korner.
- 0:22I'm here with my Co host Nate Reyes and Nate. 2024 regular
- 0:29season has come to an end. It's postseason season.
- 0:38Can I say that? Is that cool?
- 0:40Postseason season sounds good to me.
- 0:42No, put the regular. Season like I want you to spell
- 0:45out SEASON and then I want you to season.
- 0:49SZEN right, like postseason season, postseason season.
- 0:54How do you feel about that? I love it.
- 0:57I'm glad the regular season is over now.
- 1:00I actually went back and listened to a little bit of our
- 1:03episode this exact time last year and one of the one of the
- 1:10comments I made, I think like right off the top and it I feel
- 1:13like it's this, I'm kind of in the same boat this year is.
- 1:17I said how I was glad that we finally got to a point, which
- 1:21it's the case for every time the postseason comes around.
- 1:24But you you shed the dead weight.
- 1:25I said of like the of these teams that were crawl into the
- 1:31finish line or the teams that were just so atrociously bad
- 1:34that we just got tired of talking about it.
- 1:36All of the White Sox. Like, I'm just glad we don't
- 1:38have to talk about those things anymore.
- 1:39The teams that are in are in and we no longer have to really
- 1:44address the teams that did not have the fortune of making it
- 1:47in. So I'm just glad we can talk
- 1:49about good competitive baseball. And I tell you what, the Mets
- 1:54and the Braves gave us a little little early taste of some post
- 1:58season baseball today. Sure did.
- 2:02But I know you and I have some some thoughts on that.
- 2:08Yeah. Do we just want to get into
- 2:10that? Because I feel like we can't
- 2:12really, we can't really jump into the wild card preview until
- 2:15we get this, what feels like a game 163.
- 2:20In reality, it was just game 161 and 162, I guess, which this
- 2:25this bonus day of baseball, I guess you could say one that we
- 2:28weren't really expecting. One, I might add, to put put my
- 2:32little tinfoil hat on. I might be on on board with the
- 2:38idea that Major League Baseball wanted it to happen this way.
- 2:41I'm not going to sit here and say that they were.
- 2:45They were trying to get overly cute with the whole hurricane
- 2:49situation, but I think they were pretty pleased with with the way
- 2:52things panned out today. All things considered, that's
- 2:55all I'll say. I think they were very happy.
- 2:58I think, I mean, it's, it's almost like free revenue today.
- 3:03I'm, I want to look, I'm trying to get everything mapped out of
- 3:08my head here. So they haven't played.
- 3:17It was because of the Brewer series that screwed everything
- 3:20up. While you're looking at while
- 3:22you're looking up, whatever you're looking up, I will.
- 3:24I will add that this this Mets Braves doubleheader today really
- 3:29messed with my ability to kind of get in the headspace for
- 3:35what's ahead of us this week. Because like, you didn't get the
- 3:38chance to have a day to reset to be like, OK, what do we got
- 3:41ahead of us now? You, us casual baseball fans,
- 3:45Mets fans, Braves fans, Diamondback fans were all just
- 3:49sitting around today going, OK, so what's the deal?
- 3:53And they were talking about on the broadcast, they said, you
- 3:55know, the Diamondbacks were Diamondbacks were just hanging
- 3:58out for game one. But Game 2 is where they're
- 4:00like, OK, time to become a fan of whoever.
- 4:04Which a weird situation, but it made for it made for some fun
- 4:07baseball. I think it made for fun.
- 4:11Game one, Game 2 was, that's fair.
- 4:16Good clarification was it was like so predictable, so obvious.
- 4:24The only thing, and I think this was more of like a narrative of
- 4:27the fans than any anything else. But it was like the only thing
- 4:31is like, hey, you guys are division rivals and you hate
- 4:33each other. Maybe, maybe, maybe we try to
- 4:38take both. Maybe that's the mentality we
- 4:41have. Maybe we just don't need to
- 4:43sneak in. How about we ruin the team that
- 4:46we hate? Why not?
- 4:49Why not? I think, I think I hate that
- 4:53there's hindsight. I hate that you have the chance
- 5:00to take a game off and that's that's 100% what it is.
- 5:06And I'm not sitting here like I don't like, I don't like saying
- 5:10it's unfair to the Diamondbacks because like the Diamondbacks
- 5:12had opportunities. I think they blew like an 8, an
- 5:158 run game, an 8 run lead over the week.
- 5:18So it's like they absolutely had their opportunities to not be in
- 5:22this position. But at the same time, like I I
- 5:25think it sucks. You can't really blame either
- 5:31team with going about it. Whoever wins the first game
- 5:34isn't going to burn a ton of stuff the next game.
- 5:40There's no pressure to win that second one.
- 5:44And I, I don't like it. I don't I don't like the way
- 5:47this whole thing played out. It was very odd, very strange.
- 5:51I. Well, let me ask.
- 5:54You this game two Game 1 was awesome.
- 5:57Game 2 sucked. I would have.
- 5:59I would have rather watch paint dry than watch Game 2.
- 6:01That was a joke percentage. If you had to put a percentage
- 6:05to it, and we were talking about this before we hopped on.
- 6:08What are the odds that there was a conversation that went down
- 6:11between snicker and Mendoza being like, hey, let's just
- 6:14shoot for a draw here or not a draw a split.
- 6:18And we'll we'll go about our ways and maybe we'll see you
- 6:21guys down the road versus them. Just the Mets just not having it
- 6:26in Game 2. I don't know what like what,
- 6:28what percentage odds you think that took place?
- 6:31I don't know. I don't know.
- 6:33I'll give it 25% I think. Because it's it's easy to sit
- 6:36there and go, yeah, division rivals, we hate, we hate these
- 6:39guys, yadda yadda, yadda. But.
- 6:41That's what I'm saying. It's like a it's like a fan
- 6:43narrative more than anything else of like let's go take two.
- 6:46Like if you're a Met fan, you imagine ending the Braves season
- 6:51in truest. Like I I think that's the dream
- 6:53scenario for any Met fan. Same for a Brave fan.
- 6:57Let's win 2 at home and send the Mets packing.
- 7:03It just didn't give me the game. Like you said, like Game 163 is
- 7:13mean a ton. Like it gives you something that
- 7:16to fight for and it's like everyone's locked in.
- 7:19Game 2 was almost like, what's the point?
- 7:22No, it wasn't game 163. It's Game 161.
- 7:25That's what I'm saying. Like it felt like that game's
- 7:27160. Three.
- 7:28Yeah, yeah. Like we had that with 161, we
- 7:31had it with game one. We got, we got that 163 feel.
- 7:35I don't know man, I just, I just strange what's?
- 7:40Crazy. What's crazy though is is the
- 7:42second game and I'm still It's just the way things lined up I
- 7:47guess. But Game 2 was the only one that
- 7:49really mattered, and that was the snooze fest.
- 7:53Like game one, you're like, OK, Mets punch their ticket.
- 7:56And then game two, you're like, well, this is what really
- 7:58determines who else is sneaking in here.
- 8:01And it's like, well, it's just a lay, a snooze fest, a lay down
- 8:04of a game. I don't know, not all that
- 8:05important, but. Call me crazy here and I don't
- 8:08know how much. You're crazy.
- 8:10How in inefficient or unrealistic it would have been?
- 8:15But like, why couldn't you have made the Mets?
- 8:20I think it was who played the Brewers, The Mets over the
- 8:23weekend. I think the Mets played the
- 8:26Brewers. Why don't you make Saturday a
- 8:30doubleheader, get out of Milwaukee and then make Sunday
- 8:36the doubleheader with the Braves and then you have this day.
- 8:40I the biggest thing is that both of these teams are going to go
- 8:43play tomorrow and that day off like maybe doesn't sound like a
- 8:48big deal, but like for lining up, we're going to talk
- 8:50pitching. And it's like there's a lot of
- 8:52question marks around a lot of these Staffs that that's what
- 8:56this does. So like, I, I don't know, maybe
- 8:59you could have like squeezed in the Brit, the Brewers Series A
- 9:03little bit quicker, snuck it out on on Sunday.
- 9:06I don't know. And then you you have less of
- 9:08this hindsight thing because now you're playing while the
- 9:12Diamondbacks are playing on Sunday and there's a little less
- 9:16like predictable outcome. I think everyone in their mom
- 9:21knew this was going to be a split.
- 9:25We were hoping for a sweep, but I think everyone knew it was a
- 9:28split. Yeah, I hate to say it.
- 9:31I think we saw, I think we saw a split coming.
- 9:35But if you put it on Sunday and things are like, there's still
- 9:38other things that other chips that need to fall.
- 9:41I, I, I feel for the Diamondbacks.
- 9:43I think it kind of sucks. Like it's, it's weird.
- 9:46I'm sorry, Like like ball player to ball player.
- 9:50Yeah. I mean, you got to feel for the
- 9:52D backs. Like that definitely sucks.
- 9:53But like the reality of it is and and it's kind of the
- 9:56narrative that's guiding them out the door, if you will.
- 10:01And it's that they they had, they could have taken care of
- 10:04business themselves to where they didn't have to rely on on
- 10:08the Mets taking the second game of A at that point, meaningless
- 10:13doubleheader. So.
- 10:14I. Don't know, I can only feel so
- 10:17bad for the D backs, but alas, here we are.
- 10:20We have a lifeless Braves fan crawling into the to the wild
- 10:24card stage. So we'll see how it goes.
- 10:28I, I know I, I've called them lifeless for the last month now.
- 10:31So I'm, I'm certain that they're going, they're going to go on an
- 10:35NLCNLCS run at this point, but I don't, I don't know what to, I
- 10:39don't know what to make of it. I, I think regarding these two
- 10:42teams, who you and I were texting and with the way that
- 10:45that game one went, which was, as we mentioned, just crazy, you
- 10:48and I were texting. I think you and I were on the
- 10:50same page. Like the Mets were kind of
- 10:52giving off early Team of Destiny vibes, which not really a fan of
- 10:58but you know. Heck of a game though.
- 11:02I mean like. It is what it is it.
- 11:04Got the post season juices flowing.
- 11:07It for sure got the post season a little bit of energy going
- 11:12here. Like I had no no dog in this
- 11:14fight but I'm watching this game.
- 11:15I'm like this is nuts dude. The the 7th inning on was just
- 11:22craziness. And look, I've seen a lot of
- 11:26people complaining about the not so much with this particular
- 11:29game because this was just a A1 off thing, but with the Pope,
- 11:33people talk about the schedule of the upcoming wild card games,
- 11:36talked about how like, why would Major League Baseball go with
- 11:39these playoff games in the middle of the work day?
- 11:43I know this isn't the first time I've said this, but if I have an
- 11:46excuse to just like not really pay attention to work and I can
- 11:49afford to do that and kind of have it on while I'm working, I,
- 11:53I that's like, that's a treat. Give, please give me baseball
- 11:58throughout the entire day. Like I don't, I'm not trying to
- 12:00watch two games at once. Like I, I'm I'm actually a fan
- 12:04of how they set these games up. But yeah, today was along those
- 12:09same lines, sort of the same thing.
- 12:12I'm sitting there watching 2 pretty meaningful baseball games
- 12:15throughout the work day. And I was, I was OK with that.
- 12:18I was OK with that. So the people that are talking
- 12:20about, I don't, I don't like it during the work day.
- 12:22I'm sorry. You might just have to switch
- 12:24jobs. I don't know what to.
- 12:25Talk. That's that's what it's exactly
- 12:27what it is. You've, you know, when you're
- 12:28sitting at a on a chair all day, it changes things.
- 12:32You know, I've recently switched and I'm out and about and.
- 12:38It's not fun. It's not fun if you're a
- 12:39baseball fan in October. It's not fun.
- 12:43It is not fun. Yeah.
- 12:45OK, so Mets Braves bonus day of baseball.
- 12:50Well, not really bonus day, but for all intents and purposes,
- 12:53bonus day of baseball. In the books, we see both of
- 12:56those NL ES teams moving on. Do we want to talk?
- 12:59Let you want to look ahead to the matchups now.
- 13:02I I we're not going to we're not going to talk any craziness
- 13:07about game one at all like any any of the of how things played
- 13:13out the. Roller coaster.
- 13:16I tell you what, man, there's one guy on the Mets that I can't
- 13:22dislike, especially with the year he's had.
- 13:26Jose Iglesias is like. Yeah, I Yep.
- 13:31It's hard to not root for this dude was brought in to just be
- 13:37like a defensive gem is got. I don't even he's got an OPS.
- 13:43That's like over 9 isn't it? It's up there.
- 13:47I mean, for a good portion of the year it was up there.
- 13:50It's on base percentage I think is north of like 34350.
- 13:53Like it's just, it's a cool story man.
- 13:56And like the single to tie it and like it that's, I mean,
- 14:01there's a lot going on this set. Like I think it was mainly just
- 14:04the 8th and the 9th. That's what I think just tying
- 14:08in with what you're saying to like Team of Destiny like that.
- 14:12It feels that way. It feels that way when when you
- 14:15put up six and you feel like you're cruising and you feel
- 14:18good because Edwin Diaz is coming in to lock it down for
- 14:21you and the Braves, like, hold up.
- 14:24Not so fast. Mets put up sixth in the eighth
- 14:28for a lead change. The Braves followed with A4 run
- 14:33bottom of the eighth for another lead change.
- 14:36And then the top of the ninth, Lindor home run, two run lead,
- 14:43lead change. Just I mean.
- 14:45This is hard to argue. It's hard, I hate it.
- 14:49I don't. No, I don't want to.
- 14:50I don't want to continue pushing this narrative.
- 14:52I I just don't. We we threw.
- 14:54It out there to let people know that it was on our minds and
- 14:57that we addressed it. But I'm not going to, I'm not
- 14:59going to I'm not going to continue this narrative.
- 15:01I'm not going to be like the I'm certainly not the trailblazer.
- 15:05I'm not we're we're not that. We're not the first people to
- 15:07throw this out there, but I don't want to contribute to the
- 15:10movement. Is that fair?
- 15:12That's fair. Understandable.
- 15:16John asks, Can you give us a Phillies fan perspective on this
- 15:18game today? I don't know, John.
- 15:20You'll have to ask a Phillies fan, because I'm not a Phillies
- 15:22fan. I had a boy, John.
- 15:24I'm never going to beat these allegations, am I?
- 15:26No. Terrible.
- 15:29Unreal. Unreal.
- 15:32Something tells me it's going to get worse this year too, because
- 15:34they're probably going to go pretty far.
- 15:37So any Who's matchups? Let's suck matchups here.
- 15:42Let's, let's let you know what. Let's stay in the NL here.
- 15:47Let's start. Let's start with the Mets
- 15:49Brewers. I my hold on.
- 15:57Before we get in, before we get it, actually I I had to start
- 16:00earlier before we get into the specifics of these matchups,
- 16:04just looking at the slate that we have before us this week.
- 16:09Is this game won by the way tomorrow?
- 16:11Is that the early game? What?
- 16:18Oh, oh, you're saying like of the site?
- 16:19I'm like, yeah, Nate, these are all game ones.
- 16:21Dude, this post season starts tomorrow.
- 16:22You're saying game one, game one of the.
- 16:25Of the day. The day.
- 16:27No, it's not Tigers. Astros are.
- 16:31That's funny because that's actually the exact order I had
- 16:33it on my sheet. So maybe let's just go.
- 16:36Maybe we do that. Maybe.
- 16:36We do that, maybe we do OK. Either way though, I'm going
- 16:39back to my question looking at looking at the the slight that
- 16:42we've got ahead of us. Give me your two answers for
- 16:47most anticipated series and most lopsided series.
- 16:51Most anticipated and most lopsided.
- 16:59We're looking at the Tigers versus the Stroh's, the Royals
- 17:02versus the O's, the Mets versus the Brewers, and the Braves
- 17:07versus the Padres. I think Royals, Orioles is going
- 17:13to be electric. I really do.
- 17:16I love that we get to see Gunner and Bobby going and going head
- 17:20to head. Bingo.
- 17:22Like that's huge those that's probably the two top shoots
- 17:25shortsops of the future, the pitching for the Royals that is
- 17:31just very much under the radar. You know, an oriole team that
- 17:38like we all see what it is on paper.
- 17:40It's just whether it kind of comes out.
- 17:42But I think that's the one I have my eyes on the most.
- 17:45I'm going to say the most lopsided is is probably the
- 17:47Padres Braves, believe it or not, I think I we don't even
- 17:51know what's happening with the Braves pitching Chris Sale
- 17:54scratch from Game 2 today, Like I they're they're trying to
- 17:59figure out an order. But because of all this
- 18:01craziness, you're, you're looking at like a short turn
- 18:05around for everybody. Max Reed, Reynaldo Lopez threw,
- 18:10I think he threw an inning today in game two.
- 18:13You're probably expecting him Game 2C, Morton game three.
- 18:16Now, like there's so many question marks.
- 18:21The Braves are coming in just I think more beat up than any
- 18:25other team. And the Padres feel really
- 18:30strong over the last month. So I think that I think that's a
- 18:34sweep, honestly. I think that's it.
- 18:37Well, let's get into our predictions just yet.
- 18:39I mean, I I just wanted to. Love sided.
- 18:42Love sided is going to be a sweep, right?
- 18:43So not necessarily. Not necessarily as far as like
- 18:49on the bump, though if you're a fan of pitching scuba and
- 18:53Framber's hard to not be. Yeah, but then after that fully,
- 18:58what do we I mean, that's one game the rest of the series for
- 19:01the Tigers, I think. I know I I mean, we'll we'll
- 19:03touch on it, but I think Hinch talked about just unleashing
- 19:06chaos or something out of the pen for the rest of the series.
- 19:09I'm like. That's not a They got to get
- 19:12creative if they want to stick around.
- 19:14I mean that work, yeah, that works in a three-game series.
- 19:16I don't know about beyond that. I don't know what what what the
- 19:20the Tigers are hoping to do. But with that said, let's let's
- 19:24jump right into that one. Let's look at the Tigers versus
- 19:26the Astros game one. We're looking at Terry Skubal
- 19:28versus Frame Brufaldez, as you mentioned, I mean this.
- 19:33Is the This is the AJ Hinch series?
- 19:35Man, this is the AJ Hinch series back in Houston.
- 19:39Need need we remind you this was a Tigers team that sold at the
- 19:44deadline. Sold at the deadline, Yeah.
- 19:52That the reality is though. How, how much do they wish
- 19:55Flaherty was still around right now, you know?
- 19:59You know, I, that's one of those like hindsight situations.
- 20:03You, you, you never know. And, and I'm not going to sit
- 20:05here and say that they would have that.
- 20:07They're better off not having Flaherty, especially with the
- 20:10year that he's had. But you just really never know
- 20:14the way certain relationships in that clubhouse function.
- 20:18You never know, like the dynamics there.
- 20:20It's it's possible that if Flaherty was on the team, maybe,
- 20:25I don't know, maybe there's A and just some weird twisted way
- 20:30of thinking about it. Maybe there's this element of
- 20:31like, oh, we're actually better than or we think we're we're
- 20:35better than we are because we have a guy like Flaherty backing
- 20:39up a guy like Scooble in the rotation.
- 20:41But maybe they they kind of that by not having Flaherty that
- 20:45enhance the whole underdog mentality that they've been
- 20:48riding for the last two to three months.
- 20:51It seems. So it's really hard to say, but
- 20:55they I think from from an on paper perspective, they
- 20:58certainly would love to have flirty because like we talked
- 21:00about, you've got Scubal and then this.
- 21:05Makes me feel like. I've I don't know man, this
- 21:07might. Be the most lopsided, honestly.
- 21:10No, because, well, I, I, we can't disrespect the, the
- 21:14bullpen that they, that, that the Tigers are bringing to the
- 21:16table. I mean, they've got some,
- 21:18they've got some dudes in the back end.
- 21:19The problem is if you lose that first game, I don't know what
- 21:24you do. I don't think there's any coming
- 21:28back from that situation. If if you can't win game one,
- 21:31granted it's in, it's in Houston and that place we we stayed
- 21:34every year. That is, that is a rowdy post
- 21:37season environment. If you can't, I mean, they're
- 21:39they're all they all are in Houston, obviously, but if you
- 21:41can't come out of there to with a with a win after game one.
- 21:46You imagine how I feel like if you're a Cleveland Guardian fan,
- 21:51you got to be rooting so hard for the Tigers.
- 21:55Like so hard. Imagine that, dude.
- 21:58If the Tigers can bounce the Astros, the Guardians be like
- 22:06smooth sailing to the LCS. Yeah, but it's OK.
- 22:11But here's the question though. If the Tigers pull out the
- 22:13series against the Astros, then are we looking at the at a
- 22:16Tigers team as a possible team of destiny?
- 22:20Because again, look at the route that they took to get here.
- 22:24This team has. It was to.
- 22:25Figure out a three-game set. That sure, that's fine, But if
- 22:29you look at how they they handled the second-half and they
- 22:32were one of the best teams, if not the best team in baseball
- 22:34for the last call it two months, 50 games.
- 22:42They they obviously have something figured out.
- 22:44It's just a matter of can you? Can you capture that, put it in
- 22:47a bottle and unleash it in a postseason series?
- 22:51That's the question. Are you saying are you, are you,
- 22:54are you leaking your predictions here?
- 22:57I'm not leaking. I'm not leaking my prediction,
- 23:00but I, I, I remember you have to go back like 2-3 years now.
- 23:04I've, I, this was the team that I was like, just give them some
- 23:08time. It was the same way with the
- 23:10Royals, But I, I personally thought that the Tigers were
- 23:13going to be the first, the, the first team to do it.
- 23:16But the the Royals kind of showed up on the scene a little
- 23:18bit sooner, albeit they're both in the in the postseason.
- 23:21The Royals seem to be the team that took that that step a
- 23:24little bit quicker, a little bit further.
- 23:27But I've I've I've been pushing this Tigers Nader for a few
- 23:30years now. It just took him a little bit of
- 23:32time. So I'm not sitting here going to
- 23:33I'm not leaking any predictions. I'm just letting you know that
- 23:37like I have a little bit maybe more so than the average fan
- 23:40confidence in the Tigers just objectively now pairing them up
- 23:45against the Astros in Houston. That's that's a different
- 23:48conversation, one of which we're having right now.
- 23:51But it's just it's tough. It's it's a tough situation for
- 23:55them to to roll into Houston like that.
- 23:57But. Has Houston come out with with
- 24:01their order rotation wise? We know Framber game one.
- 24:05Do we know game two and three? No, I mean, we were talking
- 24:07about before we hopped on. I think the Padres and the
- 24:10Royals are the only two teams not, or unsurprisingly given the
- 24:15the state of their rotations, that have listed out probables
- 24:19for all three games. So we don't know what Houston's
- 24:23bringing the table. I think Hunter Brown might be in
- 24:25line for Game 2 for the Stroh's. When did Kikuchi throw last?
- 24:31He threw this. Weekend if I recall.
- 24:38Yeah, you got to you got to feel like if you can, if you're the
- 24:41Astros, you got to almost save a bullet for game one of the ALDS.
- 24:46You know, like if you can, if you can win game one and then
- 24:51roll Hunter Brown out there and just hope that the offense comes
- 24:55through to win Game 2 and you can save, you know, Ranel Blanco
- 25:00or Kikuchi for games one and two of the ALDSI mean that's
- 25:05probably ideal. You can see we're going to go
- 25:07through more of these matchups, obviously, but you can see it
- 25:09like there's almost some of the favorite teams are kind of back
- 25:13loading. It's going to line up with how
- 25:17you know their starts finished over this past weekend.
- 25:20You can see a little bit of like this back loading like, you know
- 25:23what, let's save that bullet. We slot him for game three.
- 25:27If we can manage the take the 1st 2 right away.
- 25:31We got that Game 3 starter to start the the DS.
- 25:34So, yeah, man, I it's hard to imagine the Tigers being able to
- 25:40do it, but I'm here for it. Why not?
- 25:41I mean, it's that's probably most of America rooting for the
- 25:44Detroit Tigers right now. And you're right.
- 25:46They have been hot and they've been winning ball games, man,
- 25:49and they've been scrappy and Carrie Carpenter.
- 25:53Excuse me, Man's is. Which reminds me, no, I'm glad
- 25:59you mentioned that name. I meant I meant to throw.
- 26:02I meant to mention this right off the top.
- 26:05The Tigers. Hello, please can someone can
- 26:09someone in the organization explain to me how you couldn't
- 26:13help me make my preseason prediction of the of the Royals
- 26:18finishing with the final wild card spot?
- 26:20How you couldn't make that happen?
- 26:22All you had to do was be the literal worst team in modern one
- 26:27era baseball in the final game of the season and you couldn't
- 26:32do it. Can somebody explain to me why
- 26:34that happened? We're back off the Tigers.
- 26:36Now we're on. Now we're off.
- 26:41No, that was just a little bone I had to pick.
- 26:43Objectively, Generally speaking, I'm OK with the Tigers.
- 26:47But just Game 162, we couldn't make that prediction happen.
- 26:51That was that was the prediction.
- 26:52Preseason prediction was riding the hardest.
- 26:54I feel like your prediction still holds strong.
- 26:59Royals are in. Yeah, but I mean, I was, I was
- 27:03ready to to tag the, they knew all along count or whatever.
- 27:09I forget what it's called, but I I was ready to to take a victory
- 27:13lap. But weirdly it doesn't feel as
- 27:16good when they finish in the second wild card spot as opposed
- 27:19to sneaking in with the last one like I said they would.
- 27:21Do you still did well? Solid prediction.
- 27:25Take it. I was a little upset with the
- 27:27Tigers, that's all. What are we doing with that?
- 27:35You want to make our prediction now or do you want to wait till
- 27:37the end after we talk about all the series?
- 27:39Let's go now. Give me Stroh's in three.
- 27:46I think the Tigers do get one. Let me give the Tigers one
- 27:53scrappiness. Just maybe AJ Hinch has some
- 27:58minute made magic left in them. Devil's advocate here.
- 28:03As as great as Tarek Schuble has been this season, I, I, I'm, I'm
- 28:11worried. I understand why folks are
- 28:14leaning this way, but I'm worried we're leaning a little
- 28:17bit too hard and chalking up game one is just an automatic
- 28:20win simply because he's taking the ball, forgetting that
- 28:24Framber Valdez is pitching at home.
- 28:27Like they're not just rolling out a schmuck like we're talking
- 28:30about Framber Valdez here. And I know Terry Schuble, Triple
- 28:34Crown winner, congratulations, well deserved.
- 28:36He's he's had a great campaign, but I'm just, I'm a little bit
- 28:40hesitant to just chalk this up as an automatic win for the
- 28:43Tigers, especially on the road. That's just me.
- 28:46I don't know. Let's see what Framber's been
- 28:48doing lately. Your last start was on.
- 28:52Well, he's well rested. He's on the 24th. 5 2/3 against
- 28:57Seattle. 3 earned runs. So not great.
- 29:01Start before that was against the pods. 7 innings, five hits,
- 29:061 earned run. Yeah, man.
- 29:10I mean, Framber, obviously. Wow, he really snuck in with a
- 29:16291 ERAI didn't realize even that solid lately.
- 29:25It's hard to go against the Astros in the postseason man, it
- 29:28really is. And when this group is still for
- 29:31the most part together, it's it's hard to bet against them.
- 29:36So that was me playing devil's advocate.
- 29:38I'm still, I think, I think after thinking it through, I'm
- 29:41still going to give the the Tigers the game one win.
- 29:44Yeah, I just, I just needed to, I just needed to present the
- 29:47other side to that because we can't do it.
- 29:48Like I said, we can't just write off for Amber Valdez.
- 29:50I'm going to, I'm going to also go, I'm going to go Strozen 3.
- 29:54Good, Very good. Tigers, it's been a heck of a
- 29:58year for you guys, but yeah, I, I think I think the good to
- 30:02build. Off of this good to work like
- 30:04good to add this and and build off.
- 30:08That's what AJ Hinch is there for right.
- 30:10This isn't like a they snuck in sell off more stuff in the
- 30:16offseason. This is like a let's add this to
- 30:19the toolbox. Now we know what we need to stay
- 30:22here and and continue on. Royals rolling into Baltimore.
- 30:31Game one, we've got Cole Reagan's versus Corbin Burns.
- 30:42I said it before, man, like this is Wit and Gunnar or Must see TV
- 30:48and what Wit has done this year. I mean that I'm not just talking
- 30:55like league wise. If you were to take Judge and
- 31:00Otani out of the headlines as often as they had been there, I
- 31:03think Bobby Witt is right there with the love that that's needed
- 31:08and deserved. This man has had a fantastic
- 31:12season and is a real problem, is a real issue.
- 31:19And what what he what he does on the bases makes things like, oh,
- 31:23let's just work around him. You can't.
- 31:27The dude is a freaking issue. Unbelievably defensive, like the
- 31:32glove is. I'm just I'm excited that he
- 31:36gets to be on the big stage and that there's going to be an eye
- 31:41opening movement across baseball fans that like haven't gotten a
- 31:45chance to really put him on TV throughout the year.
- 31:50I'm glad you mentioned that. Can I can I share an experience
- 31:53I had today when I was when I was walking rookie.
- 31:57So I'm out walking rookie in the middle of the day today, trying
- 32:01to trying to find a period of time where it wasn't raining.
- 32:05It's been raining like the last week.
- 32:07And so we're out walking and I, I had this just terrible,
- 32:13terrible thought come to my mind and I said, please don't let
- 32:16this happen. What if we're looking at a Mike
- 32:23Trout situation? Like what if that happened with
- 32:25Bobby Witt where you get that early dose of the post season
- 32:30and then the team just falls back into obscurity?
- 32:35It's realistic. I mean, I love me some I love me
- 32:40some Royals, but I that thought just hit me like a brick wall
- 32:44today. I'm I'm just going about my day
- 32:45thinking, man, I'm excited. Like you were saying, I'm man,
- 32:47I'm excited watching Bobby Witt, some Gunner Henderson.
- 32:51And I'm like, hold on, what if this is the only real dose of
- 32:56Bobby Witt we get in the postseason?
- 32:57We need to soak this in. Don't, yeah, don't take it for
- 33:02granted. Really got to feel this.
- 33:05You got to witness it because you're right.
- 33:08It could be. Man that's that's a scary comp.
- 33:12I don't want to. I don't want to.
- 33:13It's a. Terrifying comp.
- 33:15I don't want, I don't want to put that on on front of the
- 33:17program, Bobby Witt, but. Is that program with AU?
- 33:21Program friend of the program. Good call.
- 33:25Yeah, I was just looking at last September starts for Reagan's
- 33:30and Burns. Both have done well, dude.
- 33:32I think Burns has given up the five, four foreign runs in
- 33:43September. So it's been like kind of rough
- 33:47after the All Star break and in September he's like, he's kind
- 33:51of locked it back in, you know what I'm saying?
- 33:53Like it's kind of settled back into what Corbin Burns typically
- 33:56does. Reagan's is for my for my oldies
- 34:03out there. Reagan's is just like a copy
- 34:05paste of Cole Hamels. Dude looks exactly like put
- 34:10those two next to each other mechanically and it's like it's
- 34:15Cole Hamels. It has also been diamonds in
- 34:19September. Only three earned runs and it's
- 34:22four starts in September. So I think this is another one,
- 34:27man. This is another one that's going
- 34:28to be a really good start. I'm just I'm I like this Series
- 34:34A lot. I really do.
- 34:37And I'm hoping that I want it to go three.
- 34:39I need these two teams to beat each other up because both teams
- 34:43make me nervous as a Yankees fan.
- 34:45They really do. A lot of teams make me nervous
- 34:49is the Yankees fan, but these two for sure do.
- 34:52As they should. The reality of it is both of
- 35:01these teams are coming in on not the greatest foot.
- 35:06Yeah. But I think what the Orioles
- 35:11hopefully are using to their advantage is the fact that they
- 35:13were just here, right a year ago, not necessarily the Wild
- 35:18Card Series, but in this early stage of the post season, didn't
- 35:24go didn't exactly go the way they had hoped for, especially
- 35:27when in what, 101 last year. Yeah, I would like to think that
- 35:34they would be able to build off of that despite the struggles
- 35:36that they they faced down the stretch the last month or or
- 35:40two. I don't know, man.
- 35:44Like this is probably my, I would say this is my most
- 35:47anticipated series, but it's I don't know, like this goes, this
- 35:53also goes back to what we talked about once the the bracket
- 35:57started coming into into clarity.
- 35:59It's like this is one of the most just unclear.
- 36:07Yeah. Post seasons, when it comes to
- 36:10predictions, when it comes to clear cut favourites, I just I
- 36:14don't see it and it especially. Anybody listening to this is
- 36:18it's like fully disagreeing with what we're saying.
- 36:19Like you don't we we don't know, dude.
- 36:21Like I don't think anybody knows these teams.
- 36:25I've never I've I have never remembered this much of an even
- 36:30slate across the all these teams.
- 36:35Like anything can happen. I get that, but there's no
- 36:39dominator, there's nobody coming in fully healthy.
- 36:43Every team in the postseason, there's a case to be made that
- 36:47you could find a strong enough reason for every team as to why
- 36:52they couldn't win a World Series.
- 36:53And for that reason, it's it just makes picking these, these
- 36:58series impossible. Like I, and I think it's
- 37:01highlighted by this one because on paper, if you looked at these
- 37:05teams, say at the midway point of this year, you're going, OK,
- 37:09these are two high quality teams, Oreos especially doing
- 37:13what they what they had set out to do.
- 37:14Royals a pleasant surprise playing well.
- 37:18But they're like I said, they're both coming in on a little bit
- 37:20of a slide. And I had I got AI think I got
- 37:31to go. Are we, are we making a
- 37:32prediction here? Yeah, you want to go first?
- 37:37You want me to go first? I'm taking despite their slide,
- 37:47I'm taking the strength of their rotation, the strength of their
- 37:51bullpen, which their opponent is lacking right now, and I'm
- 37:59taking the presumed runner up to the American League MVP to lead
- 38:07the charge. I'm taking the Kansas City
- 38:11Royals. Same dude, same thing I am too.
- 38:15I'm actually I'm going to say too.
- 38:17I'm going to say I'm going to say Royals.
- 38:20Here's here's my logic. Cole, Reagan's going game one
- 38:27lefty, right? That's going to slide.
- 38:30That's that's a, I'm not going to say problem, but that's a
- 38:33bigger problem than a righty for Gunner.
- 38:36You're going to move Santander to the right side.
- 38:39You're going to move Adley Rushman to the right side.
- 38:42Like I think there's I think there's some things there.
- 38:47And then Seth Lugo has been nails this year.
- 38:52So yeah, dude, give me give me Royals and two.
- 38:57And I think it's shaping out. I mean, unless something
- 38:59changes, it's looking like Zach F Lennon Game 2.
- 39:02So it's like even though you're trotting Corbin Burns out there
- 39:04in game one. The Royals, if you take the sum
- 39:08of their parts as to what they're bringing to the table
- 39:10over the first two games, I like their odds better than bringing
- 39:14out Burns and Eflin. As good as that.
- 39:16Eflin's had a had a fine season. Very good.
- 39:19This is not a #2 starter. That's not why he was brought on
- 39:22board. That's this is not the position
- 39:25the Orioles were hoping to be in.
- 39:26So I do agree with you for for the strengths, specifically
- 39:31around the Royals, in the weaknesses around the Orioles.
- 39:34I mean, pitching has to be dialed in.
- 39:38And Burns got pulled after five against the Yanks on Saturday,
- 39:45maybe Friday, I believe Friday or Saturday, I can't remember.
- 39:52I think that's what the idea that, like you, he's a minimum 7
- 39:57innings for this game, like they're going to ride him. 100
- 40:01and 510 pitches, if he's in shape for it, they're going to
- 40:04try to get the whole game out of them.
- 40:07So everything's primed for that. I just yeah, give me Ross and
- 40:14two crazy. I'm not.
- 40:18I don't like attaching numbers to them.
- 40:20Yeah, I don't I don't have the guts to to at least in these
- 40:23wild card series. I mean, I know I did for the
- 40:26Astros Tiger series, but the the Royals, Royals that.
- 40:29Cop out, cop out. It's easy.
- 40:33I'm all hand up. That's a cop out.
- 40:35I I mean I will OK, you want me to I will.
- 40:37I don't enjoy doing it and I and it it makes me feel worse about
- 40:42my picks. Even if I pick the team and I,
- 40:44but I, I come up short on the number of games in which they do
- 40:47it and I, I don't feel as good there it's.
- 40:49A perfectionist mentality. It absolutely is.
- 40:54You live by it, you die by it. All right, fine.
- 40:56I'll put a I'll put a number to it.
- 40:58I'll go. Did I say that?
- 41:01I I said 3 for. He said three for the I did.
- 41:05Yeah, I gave. I gave the Tigers game one.
- 41:07We talked about game one, yeah. All right, game, Royals OS I'll
- 41:12go. Yeah, I mean, for the reasons I
- 41:20talk about the pitching, I I'm going to, I'm going to go.
- 41:23I'm going to go too. Oh yeah.
- 41:28Which for the Orioles would make it 2 straight postseason sweeps,
- 41:34being on the receiving end of two postseason sweeps.
- 41:37We were there for the last one. If Ryan's here with us at the
- 41:41moment, I don't think he's going to be too thrilled.
- 41:44Maybe he's moved, maybe he's moved on.
- 41:46I think part of part of him has moved on to the Ravens.
- 41:50I think. I think he knows.
- 41:52I think he knows. He knows he he's going to tweet
- 41:54that he's going to tweet nightly that the OS are fine, but I
- 41:57think he knows that the OS aren't necessarily fine.
- 42:00He knows Ryan Ripken in front of the program.
- 42:05Mets Brewers next on the docket here and I believe third, yeah,
- 42:10third series on the slate for Tuesday, Tuesday do here.
- 42:23Here's the question. Do the Mets ride the high of
- 42:25today's game one into the wild card series?
- 42:30Because we already talked about get they threw they they were
- 42:33asleep for Game 2, which is fine.
- 42:36You don't need to win Game 2. However, do they ride the
- 42:45momentum from that first game into this into the series, given
- 42:50that the Brewers have had just a little bit of downtime and the
- 42:54Mets are, We talked about it. You get to this part of the year
- 42:57and as beneficial as an occasional day off might be,
- 43:00sometimes A-Team benefits from just going right back at it.
- 43:06Are the Mets one of those teams? You.
- 43:09Can see it. We can definitely see it
- 43:16Severino going game one. I have question marks there and
- 43:22hasn't he hasn't looked great lately.
- 43:26I I just. I don't no question marks.
- 43:30Go back to the preseason predictions episode.
- 43:32I mentioned Luis Severino's name multiple times.
- 43:34Receipts. I've got him.
- 43:36I've, I've been, I've been high on Luis Severino all year and
- 43:40I'm not again. Check their seats, go back and
- 43:42listen. Go back and look, I said it.
- 43:45I'm not. This isn't revisionist history.
- 43:47To your point, he has struggled. He's struggled a little bit in
- 43:51the second-half. However it's been, I feel fine
- 43:56with him going up against the Brewers.
- 43:58I, I I just do. I like the Brew Crew, man.
- 44:04There's something about them. There's something going on
- 44:07that's just recently the young offense, man, like they, they
- 44:13finally have an offense. Well, well, hear me out by me
- 44:17saying that I don't have any question marks about Luis
- 44:19Severino that like I'm not I'm not giving the Mets that game.
- 44:23Like he could still go out and throw well and they still lose
- 44:26the game. And I'm not I'm not trying to
- 44:28like tiptoe in both camps here, but that's me more so just
- 44:31addressing the Severino element of it.
- 44:33Like I he can go out and have a fine game, but then the game is
- 44:37either won or lost in the in the 7th, 8th or 9th.
- 44:41That that's that. You see that happen all the
- 44:42time. Yeah, yeah.
- 44:45Because I'm with you. You and I were both on the same
- 44:47page about the Brewers being like a different Brewers team
- 44:50coming into this postseason. And I, I still stand by that.
- 44:53And I, I think you do too. So I don't know.
- 44:59I think Severino, I think he'll be fine.
- 45:04I like, I like Milwaukee. I like, I like the stadium
- 45:10getting loud. I like the the beers flowing.
- 45:15I like the crowd getting into it.
- 45:18It's just get me, get me into Wisconsin, you know what I mean?
- 45:22Just get me settled in and an early Willy Adamus home run in
- 45:28game one and we're just off to the races.
- 45:31You know what I mean? That's that's what I'm feeling.
- 45:34I like the pitching. I like the bullpen, the Mets.
- 45:39I mean, Edwin Diaz is a huge question mark.
- 45:42I mean, he's just not what we're used to.
- 45:45And Edwin Diaz and I don't even know how many pitches he threw
- 45:48today in game one. They brought him out in the
- 45:52eighth and it wasn't clean. Yeah, he ended on a high mark.
- 45:56But like, we're not on a high note.
- 45:58But like, I, I like Brewers. I'll give the Mets Game 2 based
- 46:05on just vibes and, you know, playing good baseball and coming
- 46:10back and staying in the fight. But I, I, I think Brewers in
- 46:14three. We're so we're we're looking at
- 46:21the OK, nevermind, I'm just, I'm just bridging the gap here to to
- 46:27the end of this episode and that I don't, I don't necessarily
- 46:29like what I see. You don't like what you see.
- 46:34No, because I like having a little bit of variety and I'm
- 46:37not seeing any variety. And I think the problem is, is
- 46:39because we we feel so similarly about the teens coming into the
- 46:44postseason. Yeah, I like having a little bit
- 46:47of variety. And I think maybe the only place
- 46:52we would have possibly had difference of opinion would have
- 46:56been the Tigers and Strohs. But I just had to, I had to lean
- 47:01Stroh's there, just given their track record and the fact that
- 47:05it's in Houston. But I, I think I, too, am going
- 47:09to have to go Brewers. Yeah, I I think I'm going to
- 47:18have to do that. Their bullpen has been
- 47:21exceptional. My question for you though, And
- 47:26not to mention Tobias Myers, I think gets forgotten about in
- 47:30this conversation. He he could potentially be, he
- 47:32could potentially be AX factor in this.
- 47:35They have a good one through 3, They have a, they have a good
- 47:37one through 3 rotation. My question for you though, and
- 47:41I think this is important because I, I think that this is
- 47:46well, I, I'll go ahead and just say that I pretty much know that
- 47:51this, this individual is going to be an important piece of this
- 47:53team's future moving forward. However, this year, this
- 47:58postseason, 2024, is it too soon to expect too much from Jackson
- 48:04Cheerio? I don't think so.
- 48:08He doesn't give me, he doesn't give me like the shy away from
- 48:13the spotlight vibe. Like he, he, it just seems like
- 48:17he welcomes it. He seems like he's this is what
- 48:20I'm talking about the Brewers feeling different this year,
- 48:22man. Like they have like spark, they
- 48:23have youth. There's not like this, oh, we're
- 48:27just happy to be here, you know, Midwest kind of thing going on.
- 48:31It's like, no, dude, like we've got some dudes, we got some
- 48:34studs. William Thomas, some students
- 48:38deserves so much praise, deserves so much love for what
- 48:42he's done this year and even last year.
- 48:45He just doesn't get the attention he deserves.
- 48:48So I like the Braves. I mean, excuse me, I like the
- 48:52Brewers. I like I like Cheerio.
- 48:56I don't like the Brewers. I like the Brewers.
- 48:57I like Cheerio. I like Contreras, I like Adamas.
- 49:01I mean, I, I I like the fact that they have like veterans
- 49:07that are on like the back end of that rotation in Savali and
- 49:11montage that I think could kind of slide into like a middle
- 49:15relief, chew up innings. Kind of, you know, you don't
- 49:18want to blow through your bullpen too quick kind of roll.
- 49:23I think I I like the depth that they have in this in the youth
- 49:27that they have on the offensive side.
- 49:28So I'm I very much am witnessing the Mets doing what they're
- 49:37doing. Don't get me wrong.
- 49:41I don't know. I don't, I just don't see it.
- 49:46I don't want to see it maybe. Well, that's a that's a question
- 49:51that I think you need to address.
- 49:53Are you just crazy? Yeah.
- 49:56Are are. I like logically on paper like
- 49:59nothing else lines up outside of just sheer clutch refused to go
- 50:06away mentality. Rotation has since like June or
- 50:09July. Their rotation has been one of
- 50:11the better rotations of baseball actually.
- 50:15And I'm not, I don't, I don't mean that condescendingly.
- 50:17Like it was a surprise to me too.
- 50:18Like I, I, I found that out recently after looking at some
- 50:22numbers and I'm like, Dang, like they're, they're not just
- 50:26getting lucky. Like they're doing this because
- 50:29guys are showing up, showing out and like actually putting the
- 50:33numbers out there. I hear you.
- 50:38I just can't get there. I also don't want to get there,
- 50:42so that helps. I'm out here being honest.
- 50:45I'm out here, just put all my cards on the table letting you
- 50:49know. The rotation for the Mets is not
- 50:54like, like I said off the top, being headed by by Severino does
- 50:58not cause me to be concerned. Their bullpen I think we
- 51:06mentioned Diaz who by the way, I don't know if you saw he'd he
- 51:12purposely was not jumping around today in the post game both game
- 51:15celebrate. Smart.
- 51:17Smart, smart. Good call, Edwin.
- 51:22Yeah. So bullpen that that is a
- 51:26question to me. But it for the Mets, it comes.
- 51:30If they did end up winning the series and go on a run, it would
- 51:33be because of the way the way they're able to put up runs and
- 51:38the call it the a factor, the team of destiny factor if you,
- 51:42if you dare go that far. That's what it is for the Mets.
- 51:46But yeah, I I think I'm also going to go Brewers.
- 51:54I hate going. Did I go?
- 51:57I went. I went to for the Royals.
- 52:01Yeah. OK, I don't want to make sure I
- 52:03wasn't going 3 for all these. I'm going to go three.
- 52:06I'm going to give the Mets a little bit of respect, give them
- 52:08a little bit of love that I think they've earned at this
- 52:12stage, especially with the way today went.
- 52:15I'm going to go Brewers and three.
- 52:18Good, very good. So we agree on all these.
- 52:22That's what I was saying. Yeah.
- 52:26What I was saying and lastly. We're bound to be wrong.
- 52:30Something's going to. Well, I have a reputation to
- 52:33uphold here because I don't, if you go back and look and I have
- 52:36to remember how last year's predictions went.
- 52:39But if you recall the year before that, I think I ran the
- 52:42slate like clean, at least for the wild card.
- 52:48We don't need to talk about the rest of the postseason.
- 52:49That's right, because it was. It was you, me and Ryan that had
- 52:53we had all of our. Stuff we had, yeah, we each had
- 52:55picks and I went with, there was a couple upsets in there that I
- 52:59went with that caught everybody by surprise.
- 53:01But I just, you know, what can I say?
- 53:03I know ball at least I knew ball in the postseason of 2022 in the
- 53:09wild card stage. But beyond that, I might not
- 53:11know as much ball as maybe I think I do, but.
- 53:14I do have a such a. This is such a weird year.
- 53:17That's what I'm saying. It's such a weird year.
- 53:20Anybody saying they know you don't.
- 53:22Know you, don't know you. Don't know, you don't know.
- 53:26You're not aware. And and this, this is I feel
- 53:29like we have to mention do this is my favorite time of the year
- 53:31because you have people that will criticize the picks and
- 53:35then when you ask them, all right, give me your picks before
- 53:38the games get underway, you never hear from them again.
- 53:41It's like, OK, well, at least we're putting we're putting
- 53:43these things out there, you know, putting these things out
- 53:46there. That's the beauty of it.
- 53:49I don't think, however, talking about beauty, I don't know if
- 53:52this is going to be a beautiful series for the Braves because
- 53:54they're going up against another team that I think has has some a
- 54:00feeling of being special this year in the San Diego Padres.
- 54:08They just I mean that one through 9.
- 54:11I feel like for the Padres is a problem and can be a problem
- 54:16this month, this this October. And that's that's alarming for
- 54:21any team that goes up against them.
- 54:22And I'm sure by me saying that, we're now going to see a Padres
- 54:27team that falls flat on their face and they hit like.
- 54:30Always possible. O 64 But on paper, if you look
- 54:35at that lineup and you look at what they're able to bring to
- 54:37the table on the other side of the ball on the mound, there is
- 54:43little to no reason to believe that the Braves can do anything
- 54:49in this matchup. And that I that I do stand by
- 54:53whether the Padres show out in this while in this opening
- 54:57series. That's another thing.
- 55:00But just looking at the outcome, little to no reason to think
- 55:04that the Braves can do anything. I said it before, I'll say it
- 55:07again. They crawl they they backed
- 55:09their way in to this postseason. They crawl to the finish line,
- 55:13crawl to the. Finish line on top of horrendous
- 55:16the final three weeks out of the Diamondbacks.
- 55:20And like I, I, I kid you not, I have Braves fans in the mentions
- 55:27telling me that they don't even want to see the Braves in the
- 55:30postseason. So what does that tell you about
- 55:33the state of the team right now? When you have fans of the team,
- 55:37fans, I'll give it to them. Fans that love their team and
- 55:41will defend their team to the death more so than just about
- 55:45any team in the league. If they are looking at this year
- 55:47going, it's not worth the time. What does that tell you?
- 55:53And I think anybody that has been keeping up, even relatively
- 55:57so with the way the like you mentioned the the the final few
- 56:01weeks of of this season for the Braves, If you've even remotely
- 56:04been watching, you know that this team is not going to do
- 56:07anything. And I'll go ahead.
- 56:09I'll put my name to that take because I believe it.
- 56:12This is just not an inspiring Braves team and they're they
- 56:16just got a rough matchup with the way today shaped out against
- 56:23the Padres. Yeah, dude.
- 56:27And we talked about it earlier. I like what?
- 56:31First off, little bravo to Mike Shield.
- 56:36Like I think you and I were pretty much the only people in
- 56:41in his camp. Like there's so many people that
- 56:43just wrote him off and I don't understand why.
- 56:46Excellent job. Excellent job by the front
- 56:48office and Preller. I love the game plan of what
- 56:52they're thinking for. For their starters.
- 56:54We have Mike that you mentioned, one of the few teams that has
- 56:58their their entire series laid out, Michael King going game
- 57:01one. Who?
- 57:02Did we? As of as of right now, one of
- 57:04two teams. Them and the Royals are the only
- 57:06two teams to have their three probables lined up at this at
- 57:09this moment. We said Musgrove Game 2, right?
- 57:12Musgrove Game 2 and then cease game 3.
- 57:15Cease lined up for game three. And again, like I understand
- 57:18this is having to do with how the weekend shapes out and like,
- 57:22you know, the last week or so and how things map out.
- 57:26But at the same time, like the game plan of understanding who
- 57:30you're matching up against, the Padres are going to, I think
- 57:34probably dominate on all three facets of the game compared to
- 57:38the Braves. If you can save your true ace
- 57:42for game one of the NLDS, that's really how you work your way
- 57:46through this. So I think it's it's really,
- 57:51really hard to imagine the Braves getting a win when they
- 57:57don't understand what they're doing with their rotation.
- 58:00Chris Sale is a question mark. At the time of this recording.
- 58:03We don't know. He was again scratched.
- 58:06So like we're not sure there. And there's been some positive
- 58:10things that have happened with Reynaldo Lopez.
- 58:14Freed did have a good last start.
- 58:15I think he went, what'd we look up?
- 58:17It was like. Eight yeah, great start.
- 58:21Which by the way, you mentioned Sale.
- 58:22We've I I failed to mention this is on me.
- 58:25I failed to mention Grant Holmes.
- 58:27Shut up. Grant Holmes showing out a game
- 58:30too. That's what did I say?
- 58:317 KS over 4 innings on on short notice in a in a game that you
- 58:37had to win. Yeah, that.
- 58:40That's big time Props. Props.
- 58:42Mr. Holmes, we. Won't talk about the Mets laying
- 58:44down for it, but you still got to win, still got to go out
- 58:46there and play. Yeah, I, I just, there's so, so,
- 58:52so many question marks around the Atlanta Braves and the
- 58:55Padres look really geared up, man.
- 58:59They're like the one team of the wild card round that I feel
- 59:03pretty strong about that. I feel very comfortable with
- 59:08Padres look good. You mentioned the lineup.
- 59:11You mentioned the bullpen and for they're not even going to
- 59:15give you like it's such a flex to not even give you a
- 59:21potentially not even CR ace. You're not even going to CR ace
- 59:24Braves and we're still probably going to take it.
- 59:27So yeah, give me pods and two Dylan sees throwing game one and
- 59:32of the NLDS. Wow.
- 59:36Really, really, really spicy of us to pick the same winner every
- 59:41series and then the same number of games, right?
- 59:44Did we run the table on that? I don't think it's going to
- 59:48last. I think things will change for
- 59:51the next round, hopefully. Will they?
- 59:55Am I right though? Did we?
- 59:56I mean, I know we all we picked the same for winners, but did
- 59:59we? We picked the same number of
- 1:00:01wins for each, correct? Or or in the same number of
- 1:00:04games for each. Yeah, I think we did.
- 1:00:07Because I'm going, I'm going Padres and two as well.
- 1:00:10I mean, I've been the the biggest anti Braves guy this
- 1:00:13last month or some would even argue further back than that.
- 1:00:16But I, I could, there's there'd be no chance you could, you
- 1:00:21could get me to give the Braves a win in this.
- 1:00:23Series I, I was a little surprised that you were, you
- 1:00:26were leaning Royals, but at the same time, I'm not surprised.
- 1:00:29So I was hoping that would be our difference, but whatever,
- 1:00:34whatever, let him hate. Well, that'll make making our
- 1:00:40graphic really easy. I won't even need to text you to
- 1:00:44remind me what you said because I'll just think back on what I
- 1:00:47said and just double. It that is pretty boring, huh?
- 1:00:50Copy and paste yeah I'm I'm with you.
- 1:00:53I thought, I thought we might differ on on a couple of those
- 1:00:57AL matchups or at least in the number of games.
- 1:00:59But you know, after talking through it, I maybe for me.
- 1:01:07Maybe give, I said Royals in two, maybe give, maybe give
- 1:01:11Royals in three just But then do you want to do you want to
- 1:01:17change your graphic graphic just for for that slight difference?
- 1:01:25Do I give? Do I give friend of the program
- 1:01:29Ryan Ripken a tip of the cap, a nod with his O's with his O's
- 1:01:34are going to be or his O's are fines bit?
- 1:01:37I think that's understandable. O's are fine, bit give them a
- 1:01:42game just just for say, for the sake of mixing the graphic up.
- 1:01:47Is that what we're doing here? Yeah, sure.
- 1:01:55No, that's not what we're doing here.
- 1:01:56I'm giving the Royals in two. I can't.
- 1:01:59I can't, I can't. I mean the the.
- 1:02:03I do. I do think that'll surprise a
- 1:02:05lot of people, though. I think a lot of people are
- 1:02:06leaning in Orioles. That's fair, that's fair.
- 1:02:10I don't, I don't know. I think more people are leaning.
- 1:02:13Not like I'm not saying out of 100 people, I'm not saying more
- 1:02:18are leaning Royals, but I think the Royals have more supporters
- 1:02:21than you think and how that relates to how many of the OS
- 1:02:27have at this stage in the game because I don't, I just.
- 1:02:30Already read the comments. Oh Yankee Red Sox fan saying the
- 1:02:34Orioles get swept. Big surprise I get.
- 1:02:39I already know what's coming. I mean, I'm a I'm a big O's guy.
- 1:02:44I I love me some O's at times, but I just, I just don't I I
- 1:02:49like what the Well, that's not the greatest.
- 1:02:51You pointing to the hat behind you isn't the greatest example
- 1:02:54when it still has a sticker on it.
- 1:02:56Yeah, I'm wearing that thing. I got it at the stadium.
- 1:02:59You're not helping yourself out right there.
- 1:03:01I don't know if I don't know if you see what's happening right
- 1:03:03now, but you're not exactly helping your case.
- 1:03:07All right, well. Cow Cal's right there somewhere.
- 1:03:10Yeah, Cal out of. Frame.
- 1:03:12Right there, Cal, Right the shout out Wheaties box.
- 1:03:14I don't even want to know what's inside that box, but he's he's
- 1:03:19right there. No, it'll never be opened.
- 1:03:21Yeah, yeah, shout out, Cal. All right, pics are in the
- 1:03:26books. Let's switch gears here to a few
- 1:03:29clothes in the book items, unless there's anything else you
- 1:03:32wanted to add about the Wild Card series.
- 1:03:37Nip. Some good news out of Major
- 1:03:41League Baseball. Today they announced that the
- 1:03:43All Star uniforms are in fact returning to the traditional
- 1:03:48standard Home whites Rd. Gray uniforms for the All Star
- 1:03:55game. Big, big win for for baseball
- 1:04:00fans around the country it. Really is.
- 1:04:02It really is. You could argue that bullying
- 1:04:05works. I'm not saying that, but it has
- 1:04:07been said that bullying does work, so you be the judge.
- 1:04:11I think it is exactly bullying because there's a reason they
- 1:04:15announced it when they did all this other stuff going on with
- 1:04:23the post season. Let's just slip this in there
- 1:04:25and be like, fine. Fine, Take the take the win,
- 1:04:28baseball fans. We're.
- 1:04:29Reverting man, now we just got to get those stupid sponsorships
- 1:04:35off. Well, that's not going to
- 1:04:38happen. I know.
- 1:04:39They are, I, I did read that they're talking about I, I think
- 1:04:42they're working on the concept of the hat.
- 1:04:44So I don't know what the hats are going to look like.
- 1:04:45Frankly, I don't care. Just give me the, doesn't
- 1:04:47matter. Just give me the the the UNI's
- 1:04:51and I'll be happy. Do what you will with the hats.
- 1:04:53Have fun, Have a. Yeah, have fun with the hats.
- 1:04:56They've put stars on there before.
- 1:04:58They've they've gotten a little creative.
- 1:04:59Whatever. Just give it.
- 1:05:00Give us the, you know, just give us what we wanted.
- 1:05:05Give us the home whites and the road Grace.
- 1:05:07That's what we wanted, yeah. It's going to look so good.
- 1:05:09It's going to look so good. Not to mention we're going to be
- 1:05:11there for it, so that's going to be a thing of beauty.
- 1:05:14I. Keep forgetting that, I can't
- 1:05:15believe. We're we're going to be there
- 1:05:18for the the re debut, if you will, of the the way All Star
- 1:05:24game uniform should be. I'm I'm here.
- 1:05:26For it let's. Go I'm here for it and we're
- 1:05:29there for it. Literally Giants fire farhand
- 1:05:33Zaidi. And not just that, they said.
- 1:05:39Buster Posey, you're our guy. Buster Posey is now the
- 1:05:44president of baseball OPS of the San Francisco Giants.
- 1:05:51What do we, how do we feel about this?
- 1:05:54Because IA big. A big factor here is, so I've
- 1:05:59read, is that the way that Buster Posey was involved and
- 1:06:04influenced the Matt Chapman extension?
- 1:06:07Yeah, getting done that played a huge role, I think, in the eyes
- 1:06:12of. Yeah.
- 1:06:14That front office, the ownership group, so on and so forth.
- 1:06:19Yeah, I didn't realize it. I'm trying to find where it was.
- 1:06:21I think it was 2022. He was like put on the board.
- 1:06:30He was like a part of the like the ownership, right?
- 1:06:33Yeah. Yeah, it was like there was like
- 1:06:3530 I think, like I read 30 members or whatever as a part of
- 1:06:39the ownership, by the way. Yeah, so he, he's been around
- 1:06:42like he, he didn't just go off into.
- 1:06:44Right. The Shadows, Gerald Dempsey,
- 1:06:49Posey the third. That's rough.
- 1:06:55These are things that I did not know.
- 1:06:57I would go by Buster as well, Gerald.
- 1:06:59I would go by Buster. Good call, Buster.
- 1:07:02Gerald Dempsey, Posey. Gerald, that's tough.
- 1:07:07Look, dude, like we're I'm just, I'm always going to be in this
- 1:07:10camp. I feel like catchers are the
- 1:07:13smartest guy in the room. I just feel that way.
- 1:07:16I feel like catchers have to be and they kind of have their hand
- 1:07:23and so many do they wear different hats.
- 1:07:24They have their hand on so many different aspects of the game.
- 1:07:28I was trying to find what he studied at Florida State.
- 1:07:30I was just curious, never found out.
- 1:07:32Let's. Do a little.
- 1:07:33Digging around. Yeah, You dig?
- 1:07:34I like this, man. I like this.
- 1:07:38I think what's always scary is when you have a fan favorite go
- 1:07:47to the front office of that same team, a little bit different
- 1:07:52when you see like a, a Chris Young in Texas or Derek Jeter in
- 1:07:56Miami, right? Like when you're talking to
- 1:08:00Buster Posey in his in his home where he's beloved.
- 1:08:07It doesn't leave a whole lot of room for for error, you know
- 1:08:10what I mean? There's no margin there.
- 1:08:12I mean, what'd you find? What'd you say?
- 1:08:15Sorry not to not to cut you off. I'm reading that he was a
- 1:08:19finance major but that he finished his degree remotely.
- 1:08:23So I guess he he had a little bit work left.
- 1:08:26He switched to Social Sciences I.
- 1:08:32Don't like that? So I don't like it either, but
- 1:08:34he's bringing a little bit of the money background to the
- 1:08:39table, which is certainly helpful in a position like this.
- 1:08:42And I think it, like we said it, I think it played out there in
- 1:08:44the Chapman deal and I, I think that helped him get his foot
- 1:08:48further in the door. Look, we've been saying it for a
- 1:08:52few years now. I haven't understood the
- 1:08:54direction of the of the San Francisco Giants.
- 1:08:57I really have not understood it. That's fair, but credit to the
- 1:09:01Giants for seemingly falling into line with and to use I, I
- 1:09:08think a phrase they used on MLB Network today when they're
- 1:09:10talking about it, I think they called it something like a a
- 1:09:13surging trend of ex players getting involved in these higher
- 1:09:18up positions. Love that, love that.
- 1:09:22Huge fan of that. Get people.
- 1:09:23That oh, I'm sorry. Involved in the game.
- 1:09:25I should have clarified, I love the Buster Prosey move.
- 1:09:29I, you and I are very much pro. Get former players into the
- 1:09:34front office, yes. No, no, I got what you're
- 1:09:36saying. You're saying more.
- 1:09:37Yeah, Yeah. But.
- 1:09:38I think what we can, if we're going to like wrap it up and put
- 1:09:42a description on Farhan Zahidi's, you know, tenure
- 1:09:45there. It's it's like, I have no idea
- 1:09:49what was happening any year. I'm so lost on on the paths that
- 1:09:55they took. And I know from like, our view
- 1:09:58and the perspective of like, you know, average or or baseball
- 1:10:03fans who have favored at other teams and just laughing at the
- 1:10:06Giants every offseason of them not landing a superstar.
- 1:10:10There's still a lot of other question marks.
- 1:10:13There's still a lot of other things they've done that just
- 1:10:16didn't seem to make sense. And when your top move to a
- 1:10:21struggling pitching staff is to go get a closer and Jordan Hanks
- 1:10:25and turn him into a starter and then say, like, yeah, we're
- 1:10:29good, That's done. Perfect.
- 1:10:31Like there's just a lot of questionable things.
- 1:10:36I don't like what happened with Joey Bart like that.
- 1:10:39That kind of threw me off too. And now you like you see him in
- 1:10:43Pittsburgh and he looks like he could be doing something
- 1:10:45catching wise. They're like, I there was just
- 1:10:50strange moves, a lot of outfielders being added to the
- 1:10:56roster just constantly like let's just get 30 to 33 year old
- 1:11:01outfielders over and over. It's just odd.
- 1:11:06I I heard something today and it blew my mind.
- 1:11:09They haven't had a hitter reached the 30 home run
- 1:11:14threshold since Barry Bonds. See in this, this is what I'm
- 1:11:18talking about. Like when you have glaring holes
- 1:11:23in the bucket and you're not plugging those holes and you're
- 1:11:26just throwing money at the wind every offseason saying like,
- 1:11:31whoa, we just couldn't get him. Like no dude, you guys have made
- 1:11:35well trying decisions. Trying to throw money into the
- 1:11:38wind. The the the money would always
- 1:11:39come back to you because you could never, you could never
- 1:11:42nail anybody down. Yeah, it's true.
- 1:11:45It's true. There's other things that I do
- 1:11:47like. I think Matt Chapman had a very
- 1:11:48decent year. Decent.
- 1:11:52I don't. I'm not going to sit here and
- 1:11:54say he's a top three third baseman anymore.
- 1:11:59I like I like Lee in center field.
- 1:12:01I think, you know, before the injury, he everything looked
- 1:12:03good there. There's certain things that are
- 1:12:07happening that you know, it's like, all right, there's there's
- 1:12:10good moves being made. Patrick Bailey looks like
- 1:12:13defensively very good. And I think that there's some
- 1:12:16development that can happen offensively and, you know, you
- 1:12:20need to go get, oh, who was there?
- 1:12:23Fitzgerald, That shortstop looks great.
- 1:12:27That kid looks like the real deal.
- 1:12:29So there's like there's some positive things happening.
- 1:12:31It's just for the last few years it's been directionless.
- 1:12:35Farhan Zahidi, I just, I think he was in over his head, man.
- 1:12:40It's very odd. I would encourage you to cut the
- 1:12:48cut the Giants little bit of slack with that narrative, with
- 1:12:51this particular move. I think Buster Posey, I can.
- 1:12:54I would imagine that he would do good things for this.
- 1:12:59Team moving forward, I like this and I think there's enough to
- 1:13:02work with, but your your works cut out for you and Buster.
- 1:13:07You need to, you need to get going this offseason because the
- 1:13:12rest of the division, minus the Rockies was at least working for
- 1:13:17it a little bit. Closing it up here some very
- 1:13:23unfortunate news as just I think of minutes before we we hopped
- 1:13:29on and and kind of we're getting our our bearings on this wild
- 1:13:32card week. The news of Pete Rose's passing.
- 1:13:40One of those things where you you knew he was getting up there
- 1:13:45in age, but you just kind of always knew he was there in the
- 1:13:48in the background in the shadows just, you know just he's always
- 1:13:53up and he was up there he's going to be up there in
- 1:13:55Cooperstown every summer stating his case.
- 1:14:00That's where I had the the fortune of meeting him, got to
- 1:14:04talk with him for a little bit. But it's tough, man.
- 1:14:08This is, I mean, it's it's always tough when you lose one
- 1:14:11of the games greats like this, but it's especially tough given
- 1:14:15his obvious situation with the the Hall of Fame and the lack of
- 1:14:21acknowledgement there. But I mean, you can't take away
- 1:14:27the resume that he he built that you say what you will about the
- 1:14:32the Hall of Fame, but I think you can look at his resume and
- 1:14:36understand the type of the type of player and and not just what
- 1:14:40not just what the numbers show, the way he played it, the way he
- 1:14:45played the game, You know exactly what kind of player you
- 1:14:47were getting when it came to Pete Rose.
- 1:14:49A. 100% and if anyone's ever wondering, you know why you say
- 1:14:55it at the end of every episode and why we have it, you know, on
- 1:14:58our microphone stay filthy to us is like, you know, we never
- 1:15:02wanted to finish a game with a clean uniform.
- 1:15:05That was the way we came off the field was I, I wanted to know
- 1:15:08that that field got every ounce of my effort.
- 1:15:11And that was Pete Rose, man. That was just the way he
- 1:15:15operated. And that is such a great just
- 1:15:28way to leave it. And, and, and I know that there,
- 1:15:31I know the narrative is going to be about getting into the Hall
- 1:15:33of Fame. And I know that it's something
- 1:15:36that we've said for a while now. It's like it's kind of sad that
- 1:15:39it'll likely happen after he passes away, that eventually
- 1:15:42that's going to just happen. Hopefully I'm in that camp.
- 1:15:48I think he should be in the Hall of Fame.
- 1:15:50I think it is kind of weird to group him into the category of
- 1:15:55of cheaters with, you know, steroids and you don't have that
- 1:15:59argument of whoa, like, whoa, the home run leader isn't in the
- 1:16:01Hall of Fame, so why should the hit leader be in?
- 1:16:03It's like, well, they didn't get banned for the same reasons.
- 1:16:08We're not having the black smudge, you know, on the game
- 1:16:10for the same reasons. I, I think that it was harsh and
- 1:16:16it was something that like, it was probably too hard for MLB to
- 1:16:21go back on. I do think that there's going to
- 1:16:24be a commissioner someday that does it.
- 1:16:26I think it's probably a little bit easier now that he's gone.
- 1:16:30But man, what a way to play the game of baseball.
- 1:16:34And I think there was a documentary that just came out
- 1:16:38within the last year or so that I definitely want to give a
- 1:16:44watch now just to be able to catch some highlights and and,
- 1:16:48you know, familiarize myself with like what really good
- 1:16:53effort looked like, what Max effort looked like.
- 1:16:58And if you're a fan of hitting, there's so many different styles
- 1:17:03and so many different ways that players can be successful in the
- 1:17:07box. And he's the guy that just needs
- 1:17:12to be studied, man mentality that needs to be studied and
- 1:17:16just good, clean baseball. Yeah, and, and look, I, I know
- 1:17:22it because I've seen it in, in the, the, the comments, the
- 1:17:28threads, whatever. I've, I've seen the, the
- 1:17:31response that people, one of the responses, I should say not not
- 1:17:34everybody, but I, I've seen the response of, well, he was a
- 1:17:41terrible human being. And like, OK, like if that's how
- 1:17:46you feel, I mean, you, I, I'm sure you could look at the, the,
- 1:17:51the length of his life and, and realize that, yeah, you could
- 1:17:54come to the conclusion that, yeah, he, he was exactly the
- 1:17:57best guy. I think we, we can all agree on
- 1:17:59that. But when you're looking at and
- 1:18:04I, I, I hear me when I say that I'm not trying to put the
- 1:18:08Baseball Hall of Fame over being a good person in terms of
- 1:18:14importance. Like I think if you asked
- 1:18:15anybody that's in the Hall of Fame or, or aspiring to be in
- 1:18:18the Hall of Fame, they would say a Hall of Fame would be great.
- 1:18:21But like, I also, and probably more importantly, want to go
- 1:18:25down as being remembered as just like a, a, a stand up human
- 1:18:29being. However, if you're looking at it
- 1:18:34through a baseball lens, you, it, it's really hard for me to
- 1:18:41look at how just in bed baseball is getting with these sports
- 1:18:46books now and, and how gambling has quite literally taken over
- 1:18:51not just baseball, but sports in general.
- 1:18:53And, and I, I know that that baseball and betting and
- 1:18:56gambling has it's been, it's been around for a long, long
- 1:18:59time. But like the fact that it's just
- 1:19:02so blatant now and then made and that Rob Manfred and Major
- 1:19:07League Baseball still has the audacity to have the the to.
- 1:19:11Hold it over his. Head to hold it over his head
- 1:19:14with the firm fist that they've had for years now.
- 1:19:17It just like there. There doesn't seem to be any.
- 1:19:21I don't want to say remorse because that's not the right
- 1:19:23word, but there just doesn't seem to be any like leniency
- 1:19:29with with the whole situation given, like I said, the
- 1:19:33direction that baseball has taken specifically baseball has
- 1:19:35taken with the way it approaches sports betting.
- 1:19:41I know it was a different time. I know the things he did weren't
- 1:19:44necessarily like above board, but like it's, it's, it's really
- 1:19:49hard for me to look at his resume, his career.
- 1:19:53And I would argue more importantly, the way he
- 1:19:56expressed how much he loved the game of baseball.
- 1:20:01Like I've said it, I've said it on here before.
- 1:20:03He was quite literally quoted as saying he'd walk through.
- 1:20:07Hell, in a gasoline suit, if it meant he could play baseball
- 1:20:10like I, you just don't you're, you're not hearing that these
- 1:20:13days. I like, I hate to say it, I'm
- 1:20:15not trying to knock on the, on the, the these up and coming
- 1:20:18guys. You're not going to hear that
- 1:20:20from these guys. You, you may hear it as part of,
- 1:20:22as part of a sound bite. You're not going to hear that in
- 1:20:26a genuine sense. You're not going to hear that in
- 1:20:28a way that leads you to believe that, oh, wait, this guy is
- 1:20:32serious about this. Pete Rose, I'm fully convinced,
- 1:20:35would have done that given the opportunity because that's how
- 1:20:38much he loved the game. And it's hard for me when you
- 1:20:41look like I said you, when you look at the resume, it's hard
- 1:20:43for me to take those things, take those factors and then say,
- 1:20:48yeah, but he's, he's undeserving to be in the Hall of Fame
- 1:20:51because of something that he did.
- 1:20:53It's just, it's hard for me to do that.
- 1:20:54I, I'm, I'm in the camp that he should be in.
- 1:20:58I know not everybody feels that way, but regardless if he gets
- 1:21:01in or not, I think people can look at what he did over the
- 1:21:04course of his career on the field and say that's a Hall of
- 1:21:08Fame worthy. Career 100% dude.
- 1:21:12I think I'm curious to see how the Cincinnati Reds handle
- 1:21:17things next year. And I'd, I'd like, I'd like we
- 1:21:25have a very strange view as fans of of sports to put these guys
- 1:21:35up on pedestals and and to almost expect them to be the
- 1:21:40exemplary stand up, moral, great human beings.
- 1:21:46And that's just not always the case.
- 1:21:49And I think it's very, very strange for the Hall of Fame to
- 1:21:54have that weigh so much into the decision you and I have to, I
- 1:22:04mean, I'm not going to pull up this thread too much, but like
- 1:22:06the Curt Schilling thing, you know, a few years ago and, and
- 1:22:10just, it's, it's just odd. It's odd for that to weigh such
- 1:22:14a factor because I don't think it weighs as much in other
- 1:22:19sports. You look at the NBA, you look at
- 1:22:21the NFLI think there's plenty of people that have made it with
- 1:22:26with their gold jacket and can't sit here and say that their
- 1:22:33Mother Teresa. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:22:35You could say the same thing about baseball.
- 1:22:37It's it's, it's been a. Shift it, It weighs more now.
- 1:22:41For some reason because you can look at.
- 1:22:43At baseball's own Hall of Fame and go pretty sure that's not
- 1:22:49exactly the the classiest individual that you would have
- 1:22:54your child model their own lives after.
- 1:22:58So and and when I say that I'm not sitting here going like it
- 1:23:03doesn't matter if they are if they're a suck human being, like
- 1:23:05let a man, but like also like maybe have just a little bit of
- 1:23:09leniency and remember that like it is the the baseball Hall of
- 1:23:13Fame and not the the the character Hall of Fame.
- 1:23:16I understand there's a character clause, but like, yeah, there's
- 1:23:22president. There, I don't know.
- 1:23:23I do agree. I do concur, but.
- 1:23:26RIP to. It's always sad when someone
- 1:23:32passes that loves our game like it and helped create what our
- 1:23:37game is now. You know?
- 1:23:39Huge huge fingerprints on this game.
- 1:23:43So pretty sad. I'm going to watch that
- 1:23:47documentary now, though. I think that's going to really
- 1:23:51get me queued up. You know which one I'm talking
- 1:23:53about, right? There's one that was like just
- 1:23:56released not long ago, like within the last year.
- 1:24:01I feel like I'm looking it up. Charlie Hustle in the matter of
- 1:24:14Pete Rose, there it is. When that one come out.
- 1:24:19This year, yeah. See, I told you.
- 1:24:25Sure enough, it's on Max. That's where I saw.
- 1:24:28It because I was watching. I think I was watching Hard
- 1:24:33Knocks when it came out. Yeah.
- 1:24:35Give that a watch, yeah? But All in all.
- 1:24:40RIP to Pete Rose, one of. The game's greatest the the hit
- 1:24:44king. We got anything else for the
- 1:24:51people for wrap it up just a. Big thank you, honestly, big
- 1:24:58thank you to all of our listeners.
- 1:25:03Just another year in the books, man.
- 1:25:04Like, I know you're grinding constantly working so hard to
- 1:25:09get our stuff out and and it's crazy how fast this one flew by.
- 1:25:16But yeah, another season in the books for us.
- 1:25:21What is this? This is our well, we got a whole
- 1:25:23postseason left, but I know regular, regular.
- 1:25:26Season like that's like it's not I I.
- 1:25:29Think, you know, you guys kind of have fun with us in comments
- 1:25:32of like, you know, maybe we misspeak on on certain things
- 1:25:35or, you know, misquote certain things, but like, there's a lot
- 1:25:39of baseball out there. It's not easy to take it all in
- 1:25:41and talk about it and, and absorb it and, and sound
- 1:25:45coherent on on every topic, every, every, every episode.
- 1:25:48So, you know, we put a lot of hours and a lot of love into
- 1:25:51this. And I love the postseason now is
- 1:25:54like, I feel like it's awakened this like sleepwalking that I've
- 1:25:59had the last few few months, admittedly.
- 1:26:02So like this is where it's like, this is what we're here for.
- 1:26:06This is what we're fighting for. But it makes things much easier
- 1:26:10for sure on our end. So yeah, just appreciate
- 1:26:14everybody hanging with us for this for this regular season.
- 1:26:18Buckle the heck up because it's about to get fun.
- 1:26:22We got a lot of stuff coming your way.
- 1:26:24We've. Got.
- 1:26:25We're going to have previews and recaps of all, all schedule
- 1:26:30changes. Yeah.
- 1:26:31Should we? We should probably let everybody
- 1:26:32know a little bit. Well, the one we know of right
- 1:26:36now, Well, I I think we. Do know the full schedule, but
- 1:26:39you know it it could always change with like weird weather
- 1:26:41or or just like weird situations.
- 1:26:44But as of right now we should be recap.
- 1:26:46The next you'll hear from us is probably going to be Thursday
- 1:26:48the 3rd. So that'll be after all three
- 1:26:54games of the the wild card yeah. So you'll be hearing from us
- 1:26:56Thursday night and then we're going to do a division series
- 1:27:02update which should cover the first couple games of each of
- 1:27:07those series. That'll be on Monday and then
- 1:27:10the following one after that'll be Thursday.
- 1:27:12So it's going to be a lot of Monday, Thursday until we get to
- 1:27:15the World Series. So it's just kind of the way
- 1:27:18games line up and and for us to be able to maximize.
- 1:27:21What we're talking about in each episode.
- 1:27:23So yeah, I mean, if you're, if you want the exact dates, I I
- 1:27:27have them. Again, they're tentative, but if
- 1:27:30if you just need general planning purposes for like your
- 1:27:33commute, you want to know like when you can plan on hearing
- 1:27:35from us. We're going to be doing our
- 1:27:37recordings on at least for the these first couple weeks, Monday
- 1:27:42and Thursday, Mondays and Thursdays.
- 1:27:45So keep an eye out for us on those particular nights or the
- 1:27:48morning after, if you know got to get the bed early for work,
- 1:27:51you can catch us on your commute the following morning.
- 1:27:53But we're going to be covering, as we always do, going to be
- 1:27:57bringing coverage to you for all of the these games, all these
- 1:28:00series, and we're going to have some fun with it.
- 1:28:03So it's probably a little easier for us this year too, because
- 1:28:05we're not going to any games. That's true.
- 1:28:08That's true. Yeah.
- 1:28:11And definitely tag the account. Tag us if you're going to any of
- 1:28:17these games. I love getting to see any
- 1:28:20evidence of you sitting in in the postseason atmosphere
