SPEAKER_00: And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him and began to call him.

SPEAKER_00: Called him a mighty man of valor.

SPEAKER_00: And Gideon didn't recognize his situation because how mighty he was.

SPEAKER_00: Because he he looked at his situation and his circumstances rather than the God that selected him.

SPEAKER_00: Oftentimes we we don't realize that God has saved us.

SPEAKER_00: And saved us in this environment and culture that we're in today to make a difference in somebody's life.

SPEAKER_00: If you ever studied the book of Judges, you know that is through the book, it's the same scenario.

SPEAKER_00: God now, uh Joshua's going off the scene, and and God raises up judges to judge the people.

SPEAKER_00: And uh it's the same scenario.

SPEAKER_00: Uh the people uh go out and they start serving other uh small G-O-Ds, false idols and idol worship, and and then God would sell them to the hands of their enemies, and when he would allow them to go into the hands of their enemies, uh the people would cry to the Lord.

SPEAKER_00: Y'all know how it is when uh you uh uh not you particularly, but uh the the ecclesia, the church, uh uh don't really do what we're supposed to do.

SPEAKER_00: And then when something happens, and then we cry to the Lord and say, help, help, help, help, help, and we need you, but then we're not doing what we're really supposed to do.

SPEAKER_00: And so God is just trying to get your attention, and that's what he was doing to Israel.

SPEAKER_00: And so they would cry to the Lord, and the Lord is full of mercy and grace, and God will hear their cry, and God would raise up a deliverer, a judge, that would bring them out of the hands of their enemies, and then that judge would bring them out of the hands of their enemies, and then they would go right back to folly, doing the same thing that God had brought them out of.

SPEAKER_00: They would go right back, and then he will allow their enemies to get them again, and then they would cry out to God, and then God would raise up another judge, and then they would deliver them, and then they would be okay for a while, and then they will go right back and do it again.

SPEAKER_00: Yes, sir, and you see, amen, the condition of the people, but you also see the mercy and grace of God.

SPEAKER_00: Gideon, God selected Gideon, and Gideon in the Hebrew, his name means one who cuts down, it's described as a feller.

SPEAKER_00: A feller is associated with a person who cuts down trees.

SPEAKER_00: You don't cut them down, you fell the tree.

SPEAKER_00: And uh that's what it means is feller, or I'm about to cut something down.

SPEAKER_00: So God chooses somebody that's get ready to cut something loose, cut something down.

SPEAKER_00: And God tells him, Go on, for I the Lord am with you, and I will use you to deliver the people.

SPEAKER_00: The Bible says, and uh God said, I'm gonna use him, and he began to allow God to use him, and they changed his name, not God, but the people changed his name, the Midianites, to Jerubbabel.

SPEAKER_00: And in uh Judges chapter 7 and verse 1, Brother Daniel, they changed his name to Jerubel, he who strives with Baal, he who fights against Baal.

SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he who has the audacity to fight against the works of evil.

SPEAKER_00: Yes, I want you to know that the devil's afraid of somebody that knows who they are.

SPEAKER_00: Yes, he's afraid of somebody that knows that they possess the power of God.

SPEAKER_00: Yes, and he called him a man Zerubbabel, who is Gideon, and with all the people that were with him, rose up early, and they pitched inside beside the well of Harad, so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, but the hill of Morai in the valley.

SPEAKER_00: And so they pitched their tents on this side, and the enemy was on that side, and there was a valley in between them.

SPEAKER_00: I want somebody to know this morning that the God that you serve is not just the God of the mountain, but he's also the God of the valley.

SPEAKER_00: And he's not over able to give you the victory on the mountain, he's able to give you the victory in the valley.

SPEAKER_00: There are gonna be some valley experiences that we go through.

SPEAKER_00: That's why the psalmist says, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for I know that he is with me.

SPEAKER_00: And when the Lord uh saw Gideon and the people, here's what I love about God.

SPEAKER_00: The Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand.

SPEAKER_00: He said, Gideon, you got too many folk with you.

SPEAKER_00: Everybody can't be with you, everybody can't go.

SPEAKER_00: There's only a remnant that God wants to use.

SPEAKER_00: Here's the we reason he said to him, There's too many.

SPEAKER_00: He said, There's too many, and I can't allow you to defeat the Minianites, lest Israel begin to vaunt itself against me saying, My own hand have saved me.

SPEAKER_00: And so God says, You got too many folk with you, and when I give you the victory, they're gonna think that they've done it out of their own will or their own hands that they got the victory.

SPEAKER_00: Uh sometimes a lot of people are too many people.

SPEAKER_00: Uh, we want people to be on one mind and one accord.

SPEAKER_00: We want a lot of people to be saved.

SPEAKER_00: But God don't need a lot of people to do what God wants to do.

SPEAKER_00: All God needs are two or three people.

SPEAKER_00: Uh, God, two or three that are gathered together in his name.

SPEAKER_00: Then you'll find the Lord in the midst of his people.

SPEAKER_00: Just like here on this morning, I feel God in the midst of his people.

SPEAKER_00: He said, You got too many.

SPEAKER_00: Some of us hang around with too many folk, call too many people, drag too many people around.

SPEAKER_00: And he said to them, I don't want them saying that they've got the victory.

SPEAKER_00: He said to them, now therefore go up to proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, First of all, I want you who is fearful and afraid.

SPEAKER_00: I want all the people who are afraid, you can just go on home.

SPEAKER_00: Because fear is a spirit.

SPEAKER_00: Watch this.

SPEAKER_00: For God's not giving us a spirit of fear, but power, love, and a what?

SPEAKER_00: First of all, get rid of all the fearful people and let them return uh from the Mount Gilead, and their return of the people 22,000.

SPEAKER_00: 22,000 people were afraid.

SPEAKER_00: And there only remained 10,000 that weren't afraid.

SPEAKER_00: See, you can hang around with the wrong folk, and the wrong folk can keep you from getting a victory.

SPEAKER_00: You got to make sure you hang around with the right people.

SPEAKER_00: People who are not afraid to engage in warfare.

SPEAKER_00: I'd rather have three people that are not afraid of the devil, that know how to pray and fast and seek the face of God, than have 300 folk that are afraid to get on their face and give God glory.

SPEAKER_00: Uh God, about two or three that are gathered together in his name, then I know the Lord is here in the midst of his people.

SPEAKER_00: We know what our God can do, and I know what your God can do.

SPEAKER_00: See, God knows how to try us and see if we're ready.

SPEAKER_00: See, promotion don't come from the east, and it don't come from the west, but promotion comes from God.

SPEAKER_00: And God will try you to see if you're ready to go to the next level.

SPEAKER_00: A lot of folks say they want to go to the next level, but they don't want to be tried.

SPEAKER_00: But to go to the next level, there are gonna be new devils, and you got to be prepared and know how to fight the next level of demons that are gonna come up against you.

SPEAKER_00: I feel a God's trying to push somebody to another level.

SPEAKER_00: God just ain't picking anybody, He's only picking a hand select few that He called the remnant.

SPEAKER_00: And uh for thee, and it shall be that of whom I say unto thee, This thee shall go with thee, and uh the same shall go with thee, and whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall this shall not go with thee, then uh the same shall not go.

SPEAKER_00: Who I tell you not to take, don't take.

SPEAKER_00: And the problem with us sometimes is that we take the wrong folk with us.

SPEAKER_00: We take the folk with us just because we know them or we're related to them and and and and we want to take them.

SPEAKER_00: But sometimes, I mean you got to only take who God tells for you to take, and you got to make sure you're taking the right folk with you as you're trying to get something from God.

SPEAKER_00: You got to make sure you got the right people in your corner, you got to make sure you got the right folk that know how to pray, you got to make sure you got the right folk who are willing and obedient to follow the word of God.

SPEAKER_00: You got to make sure you got the right folk that don't mind getting up three o'clock in the morning, you got to make sure you got the right folk that don't mind pulling down strongholds and casting down imaginations, don't take your friend because they're telling you what you want to hear, but take some folk who are mature in the word of God, mature in prayer, and mature in receiving the things of God.

SPEAKER_00: Likewise, everyone that bowed down upon his knees to drink.

SPEAKER_00: And he says, Uh, I want you to set them aside, I want you to watch them.

SPEAKER_00: So 10,000 went down in the water.

SPEAKER_00: And uh everyone that lappeth of the water with his tongue as a dog lappeth, set him aside.

SPEAKER_00: And so, and then everyone that bows upon his knees, so there were two groups of people.
